JOLIETTE, Quebec (Reuters) -- Karla Homolka was a pretty, bright young woman who helped drug, rape, torture and kill schoolgirls and even presented her own teen-age sister to her boyfriend as a gift. Homolka, 35, has fascinated and horrified Canadians since committing her crimes more than a decade ago. Canada's most notorious female convict, she is due to be released from prison within weeks, and the country's anxiety and anger is again on the rise.

Shortly after officials made a deal with Homolka where she pled guilty to only manslaughter in retrun for testifying against her husband, the videotapes of the horrendous torture and killings were found showing her real involvement. Homolka testified that she was just a poor "abused wife" who only did what her husband told her to do in fear for her own life. What a crock of BS!! Nobody believed her then and nobody believes her now. She married her fellow psychopath just weeks after one of the murders. The two schoolgirls they kidnapped were tortured and sexually assaulted for days before they killed them. She has been called a "master manipulator" and earned a degree in psychology while she was in prison.

She has also been communicating with a male inmate serving a life sentence for strangling his girlfriend to death. Psychiatrists argued that this shows she is still attracted to "dangerous men". Seems to me that she is at least as dangerous as the men she hooks up with!

As long as her victims are still dead in the ground, I hope she never has a moments peace. And, I sure as hell hope they keep a really close eye on her like they say they are going to!

Trust me, we Canadians are enraged about this! This evil animal deserved the DP - wish we had it here. At the very least she should be in a cage for the rest of her life.

Before we know it; she'll be on magazine covers, raking in cash for her "story" and will be on book tours with Jennifer Wilbanks.

I can't imagine someone ever marrying her or associating with her. Sleeping with one eye open at all times doesn't seem too appealing to me.

I expect to hear the name Judith Regan associated with this animal in the near future. Would not surprise me one bit.

Paul told his attorney where he could find the tapes. His attorney found them; kept them for months; Karla made her "sweetheart deal" and then lo and behold Paul's attorney turns over the tapes. By then it was too late. Karla's deal was set in concrete and couldn't be rescinded. That's why she never got LWOP! Paul's attorney should be hung by his b@11$ or disbarred IMO.

One evil woman. I googled her to learn more and apparently she is changing her name and is going to change her appearance "to help fade into anonymity." She was a vet assistant (where she got the meds to drug her own sister) and would like to work again with animals. "Homolka got a psychology degree by correspondence in prison and has also talked about working in a shelter for battered women or on a phone help line for children." Imagine that! Da*ned if I would seek her help for me or my child and forget my pets too!

I would to send her to a prison in Texas.

Of course the article says she is unemployable. She did learn to speak French and helped to translate documents. They mention self employed doing that. I think the last option here might be her best bet, if they would have her and I wouldn't be to sure they would.

Yeah, from what I've read, the restrictions being placed upon her release are not going to allow her to "fade into anonymity". Thank God! If that was allowed, I believe she would only remain anonymous as long as it took for her to get caught committing more heinous crimes. Who knows how much damage she could do with the 12 years of time she's had to plan, dream, and get her psychology degree!

People who commit (and enjoy committing!) the kind of truly monstrous acts this woman did don't just "change". Prison, where Homolka has spent the last 12 years, is not conducive to someone like her turning her life around. There is something sick and twisted in her, and associating with criminals and being locked in a cage for 12 years hasn't made her "better". If anything, it would make her even worse! JMO

Here's an article I found while googling around about Homolka's recent years at Joliette. Unfreakingbelievable!! At the bottom of the webpage are links to photos of her and some of her "friends" that go along with the article and show what life is like at the prison. Ten cottages on the prison grounds house eight to 10 inmates each. There are no bars on the windows, and each inmate has a key to her room ahd a key to her personal mailbox. One former inmate talks about the ability to take long strolls on the grounds where it doesn't even feel like your inside a prison. They are wearing regular clothes, jewelry, makeup. Having parties, hanging out, sunbathing, etc. UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE!

This is not true. The tapes do not show Paul committing the murders of Leslie and Kristen. If they had shown the murders, the Crown would not have needed Karla's testimony against Paul, hence no deal, hence she'd be in for first degree murder right along with him. That's why she got the deal--for her testimony. At that time, she was all they had to put Paul away. But I don't agree with that either. The tapes show Paul sexually abusing, beating and torturing the two girls. I don't think it's a big leap for the jury to find that Paul committed the actual murders, not Karla. Yes, she stood there and watched and she had opportunities to help those two but she chose not to and that makes her worse in my books.

Hello Canadians! I hope that the all of the Canadian people will do everything in their power (legally of course) to make Karla's life a living he11! I want her life to be so miserable that maybe she'll beg to go back into prison.

She is one disgusting biotch and deserves nothing from any of us ~ no matter where we live ~ except our revulsion, disgust and scorn!

This monster will not "fade into anonymity". We will read about her again after she finds more victims to hurt. Countdown to that begins the moment of her release. I'd put a bet down if it weren't so distasteful but that is how sure I am that she will re-offend.

I watched her interview with police that was video taped years ago and saw it again over the weekend. Anyone that thinks that Karla was a victim must be out of their mind. She is so perverted that I wouldn't doubt that she enjoyed having her eyes blackened by Paul.
