Randy Quaid and wife no-show in California court

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Arrests warrants have been issued for actor Randy Quaid and his wife after they failed to appear for a court hearing, a prosecutor said Tuesday.

The couple didn't show up in a Santa Barbara criminal court Tuesday on a felony charge that they defrauded an innkeeper. The no-show will cost the couple $40,000 in forfeited bail.

It was the most recent in a string of court absences that have resulted in arrest warrants and an aborted attempt to extradite the pair from Randy Quaid's home state of Texas.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter said the couple are felony fugitives again and will have to post $40,000 if arrested.

A phone message for the Quaids' attorney, Robert Sanger, was not immediately returned Tuesday.

Randy and Evi Quaid were arrested on Sept. 24 in West Texas after being accused of using an invalid credit card to defraud the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito of more than $10,000.

Sanger has said the couple paid the bill and had hoped to resolve the case.

Randy Quaid is best-known for supporting roles in films such "Independence Day" and "National Lampoon's Vacation." He is the older brother of actor Dennis Quaid.

Randy Quaid a no-show for felony vandalism case

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A judge issued arrest warrants Monday for Randy Quaid and his wife after they failed to show up at a court hearing stemming from their arrests last month on suspicion of illegally squatting at a home, a prosecutor said.

Santa Barbara Senior Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter said the $50,000 warrants were issued after the couple failed to appear for an arraignment Monday on a felony vandalism charge. Carter said the couple may turn themselves in sooner, but their case will be called again on Oct. 26.

Randy Quaid, wife seek refugee status in Canada

VANCOUVER – Actor Randy Quaid and his wife told Canada's immigration board Friday they are seeking refuge in Canada because they are being persecuted in the United States, after they were arrested on U.S. warrants related to vandalism charges.

The pair were arrested on Thursday afternoon in a shopping area of an affluent Vancouver neighborhood.

The Quaids are wanted in Santa Barbara, where they missed a court hearing Monday on felony vandalism charges.

LOL-Dennis is too busy raising twins and making sure hospitals don't administer the wrong drugs during delivery. He seems like a genuine NORMAL person/nice guy...for a celebrity.

Maybe he said he'd pay for him to go to rehab but not buy his fines/bail/etc...or maybe there was a stipulation bout the SO...if she was really a bad influence...enabler...co-dependant...something like that.

You never know.

Addictive people are often addicted to MORE than substances.

Sometimes you have to walk away for the addict to see what they're losing before they're will to make a change...so they realize they really ARE hitting rock-bottom and losing more than friends, home, and money.

To many people will throw money at an addiction and expect a cure, only to realize that it only makes it worse.

And only the addict can decide it's time to go to rehab.

Randy Quaid's wife misses Calif. court hearing

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – It's another missed court date, another arrest warrant for Randy Quaid's wife, Evi.

The 47-year-old failed to appear for a probation hearing Thursday in Santa Barbara and faces a new $100,000 arrest warrant, Deputy District Attorney Anthony Davis said.

At the hearing, Evi Quaid's attorney, Robert Sanger, withdrew from the case. He declined comment Friday in an e-mail.
