    Post Susan Grund

I just wanted to share with everyone a little bit about Susan Grund. For those who don't know who I'm speaking of I'll recap a bit about her. Susan Grund was convicted of murdering her husband, prominent attorney James Grund in Peru, Indiana in 1992. She was the subject of Wensley Clarkson's 1996 book DEADLY SEDUCTION, and the made for tv movie VOWS OF DECEPTION in 1997, starring Cheryl Ladd and Mike Farrell. Ms. Grund was never interviewed for the book, nor has she EVER spoken out about her life, her conviction, or her years in prison. That has now changed. I have known Susan personally for several years now, and have spent the last two years as her biographer working on her story, in her words. We will also be appearing in the next couple of months on the OXYGEN Channel's true crime documentary series SNAPPED. I also have a website with photos and a little bit of the my book UNTANAGLING THE WEB at www.freewebs.com/jwlee.
I've seen some things here as well as at other sites on the web that contain way too many incorrect facts about Ms. Grunds life and it amazes me how much of the public record goes misconstrued. If anyone wants to know more check out the site or drop me a message. - J.W. Lee

After reading your website, I'm getting the impression that Susan is saying her step son killed her husband and she merely hid the gun. Is that what is being implied?

    Regarding the step-son/Susan Grund

The actual implication is not that David himself murdered his father, but that he faked a break in at his house to cover the whereabouts of the gun, then hired someone to kill his father for him, and leave the gun at his fathers feet.
It is unclear to anyone why the gun was left behind but several scenarios come to mind. He could have known that Susan would find the gun and turn it in, then being able to tell the police that she was the one he suspected of stealing it, or that someone else would find Jim dead, call the paramedics and police, and again, blame Susan for taking the gun. Either way, and in any other scenario one may surmise, the fact is that it was David Grund's gun, not Jim or Susan's. Also, Susan was not a beneficiary of Jim's estate, and David was. On an unrelated but interesting note, David Grund is now a Superior Court judge in Peru, Indiana.

So you're suggesting she's innocent, right?

There are many things that Susan Grund is guilty of... murdering her husband is NOT one of them.

At least you're honest. As a fellow writer, good luck with the book.

Is she guilty of battering her child?

Susan's third husband T.R. Whited was a very abusive man. Susan took the blame for her husband's abuse of Tommy out of fear of him, as well as being blinded by the thought that she still loved him. He not only abused his son, but physically abused Susan as well, which I have been able to substantiate with photographic evidence, as well as by speaking with family members who were privy to this abuse.

I'd not heard of this case before you brought it to the attention of the board, but it seems to be a complicated one, interesting at the same time. I'm searching for more info at the moment, well done on writing your book by the way.

    Exclamation Susan Grund's conviction

Thanks GilmoreGirl! There's quite a bit out there about Susan, alot of it is either completely wrong, or a bit off. That's one of the main reasons that I decided to write the book, which I'm hoping to have published by no later than the end of this year, but it does take time, especially with the economy. Susan's case was so circumstantial, and so tainted, that her case is coming back up in a PCR (Post Conviction Relief) hearing that is starting this year but will almost certainly lead on into next year. Her attorney has been preparing the case for the last two years, and she stands a chance in several different venues, on several different platforms. The system just looked at one person who was an easy target, and ran with it, in order to appease an angry and demanding family of affluence. The fact that they were a pillar of the legal community called for someone's head, and under the circumstantial nature, hers was the easiest to get at. There are many gray areas; others with motive; and many suppressed and publicly unknown facts and circumstances surrounding the case.

    Post Snapped

I just made a post a little while ago that may appear as a new thread. Anyway, I just wanted to share with readers/viewers that I have received confirmation of the AIRDATE of the OXYGEN channel's true crime documentary series SNAPPED/ SUSAN GRUND. It is JUNE 4th @ 10 p.m. Susan and I, along with her attorney, family members, and one of her long time fellow inmates & friend will be discussing her life and case. I also expect this will begin another run of the Lifetime movie VOWS of DECEPTION, based (very loosely I might add), as well as stir the rumor mills into an overtime frenzy.

    Susan Grund

    J.W. Lee--

I am attempting my first true crime book as well...

I just watched the 'Snapped' hour of Susan Grund's journey to prison. I saw nothing to hint at her innocence. The 'baggage' alluded to at the beginning of the program, the admitted promiscuity, the gun found in the tub (heirloom) under hardened cement, the admission to her sister that she shot her husband, lies told to her mother. And then the unlikely story that she had an affair with her stepson.....

    Mr. Lee, come on....

Susan Grund's lying is neverending despite having been locked away for the safety of others and having no hope of ever being freed from prison. And no matter what some silly man says about her being misunderstood and innocent, it doesn't change the truth. Susan Grund is where she should be.

Hmmm...reading the chapter synopsis sounds more like a book about Susan's jailhouse romance than facts about the murder. Sorry but I'm not interested in her love life. I'd rather know why she killed her husband.

it's not really hard to figure out why she shot her husband... the almighty dollar. he was about to get rid of her promiscuous arse. not only did she just cheat on her (many) husbands, she cheated on james w/ his own son. not only did she batter tommy, she left him for dead, staked to the ground in the hot sun. not only was he beaten, he is now in a permanent vegetative state. this b**ch tried to very hard to get out of her 'hick' upbringing... only to find out she's trailor trash, right down to her soul.

ps: it's very sweet to tell ur baby daughter she can't kiss daddy goodnight cuz he's sleeping... when mommy knows she just shot him......

she was having an affair w/ her son..... but as his good friend said, "blow jobs don't count, do they?"... but please remember this was a GOOD boy, seduced by an older woman. he did not conspire against his father, and was traumatized by his dad's death.

    No no guilty as charged

If Grund allowed her husband to abuse his son then I am sorry J. W. Lee but she is guilty. Of course I know she did beat that child. Her own son said he witnessed her doing this and he said it on TV. Personally I could care less about what she did to a foolish man who couldn't get a decent woman. But that child is another matter. That child couldn't defend himself like the men in her life. So for that reason alone I hope she never gets out of prison.

in the first trial she was innocent, her step son did it and she had an affair with him.
at the second trial she didn't mention this. but the author is married to her...not very neutral opinions.... she of course is innocent, just ask her. the gun was found at her mother's house, her mother and sister testified against her. I guess it was all just a conspiracy and she is totally innocent, even though she admitted to being unfaithful..
