Serial killer the culprit

The disbanding of the police forensic unit had its roots in the cold case review of the Claremont serial killings.
Last week's announcement came out of the blue to everyone except POST readers.
The POST had been recording for three years the botches and bungles in local murder cases that have reached the courts.
Police Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan announced the forensic unit's demise ahead of the release of the cold case review into the Pamela Lawrence murder in Mosman Park in 1994 (report page 9).

The WA police forensics unit was so flippin' useless that they have discounted the possibility that the murderer may still be active in the area. No more women have disappeared from the suburb of Claremont, but women continue to disappear or be discovered murdered from Perth in general. Apparently there have been about 18, including Jane Cutler (1988), Sarah McMahon, and more recently Corryn Rayney. Corryn and Sarah went missing with their cars, which then turned up in strange places around the city.
You can tell a lot from the footage of Clare Rimmer outside the Continental. Her body language indicates someone who's feeling happy and excited. She's tossing her hair back, and her response to that man suggests that she may have known him. It suggests someone fairly young and charming.

Shirley Finn Brothel Madam Perth WA shot 23 June 1975 body was found in pafrked car next to South Perth golf course , on the 30th anniversary of the murder June 23 2005 a cold case review of the murder was announced general opinion by some was that no further leads were possible.
After retiring as of Perth CIB , Don Hancock purchased the tiny pub at Ora Banda near Kalgoorlie. In October 2000 members of the Gypsy Jokers motorcycle gang entered the pub and started to abuse the barmaid , who was hancock's daughter , after which he threw them out. Later that night one of the bikies William Grierson was shot dead as he sat around the camp fire.
In September 2001 , Hancock returning from a Perth horse racing meeting with book-maker friend Lou Lewis drove into his driveway.
A massive carbomb planted under the car at the race meeting , was remotely detonated and exploded , killing both men instantly.
Police believe that the bombing was a payback by motorcycle gang members for Grierson's murder.
Gerard Ross 11-years -old abducted from Perth suburb Rockingham , 12-10-97 during a family holiday.
Gerard was roller blading to the shops whe he was taken , his body was found 15 days later.

claremont serial killer
In October 2006, it was announced that Mark Dixie (AKA Shane Turner), who was convicted in the United Kingdom for the 2005 murder of 18-year-old model Sally Anne Bowman, is a prime suspect in the killings, and the WA Police's Macro Taskforce has requested DNA samples from Dixie to test against evidence taken during the enquiry.

Hi Belangalo and Sarah. I've had a fair bit to do with this case for many years, including a recent visit from the "Special Crime Squad" who are now investigating the Claremont case. We hear a lot of criticism here in Western Australia regarding the handling of this case, which i believe is unfair to the W.A. Police Department. There have been several independant reviews performed by detectives from other states of Australia, together with American and British experts, with none shedding any more light on the killings than our own home grown detectives.
The crime scenes of the two victims who have been found, had been disturbed by severe rain and storms etc, which left little hope of any evidence being found. It is also believed that the victims were murdered elsewhere, another reason for the lack of evidence at the scenes.

Claremont Serial Killer
Interesting stuff.
I'm following this from the Eastern States so I'm not completely up to date. I have a few obvious questions:
1. The press claim that the police believe Julie Cutler was the first victim (car driven off Cott groyne). Is this true? If so:
a) How did they come to this conclusion without Julie Cutler's body? You'd assume the killer did something or left something that was unique to the other 3 girls. Given we know little about the 3 Claremont killings, and Julie Cutler's body has never been found, what could this be?
b) Do the police believe there are other victims and if so, who?
2. The 3 Claremont killings happened within 6 months or so. How did the killer stop? Did he move overseas? Did he die? Could he be in prison (ie do they take DNA of all inmates these days?)
3. What happened to the English guy mark Dixie? Can I assume his DNA came back -ve? And wasn't there another English guy who was a suspect?
