A traffic stop in Lockport lead police officers to a home on Locust Street in the city where they say they found a child living in danger. The parents of that 3-month old are now in jail facing drug and child endangerment charges.
It all began early Sunday morning on South Transit Road in Lockport. Police pulled over a car driven by 26 year old Carley Haseley. Another man, 22 -year old Shavale T. Ewing, was in the passenger seat. Police searched the car and say they found a needle full of a liquid substance which was later determined to be heroin. They were both arrested and taken into custody.
When Haseley was being booked, she told officers her 3-month old baby was at home with the baby's father, who she said was a heroin addict. Officers then quickly went to the house here they found the father, 27-year old Michael Card and the 3-month old baby girl. Officers say the baby was sleeping in a crib inches away from a dresser which had several needles and drugs on it. Card was then also arrested.
The child is now staying with her grandparents and under the watchful eye of Child Protective Services. Her parent's case is expected to be sent to the Lockport Drug Court.
