MONROE, Mich. – Authorities searched apartments, fields, parks and quarries for a 5-year-old Michigan girl whose long-absent father has pitched a tent near her home, saying on Wednesday, "I'm here to find my little girl, dead or alive."

Police and FBI agents chased at least 200 tips on Nevaeh Buchanan and have said she may have been abducted. She was last seen Sunday evening outside the apartment building where she lives with her mother in Monroe, 40 miles south of Detroit.

Talking to reporters, grandmother Sherry Buchanan was clutching to hope as tightly as Nevaeh's toys. "I know she's missing all her animals," she said.

She held some of Nevaeh's favorites, including a pink guitar, motorcycles and stuffed dogs Tank, Herbie and Harley. "She named 'em, every one," Sherry Buchanan said.

The girl she described as a tomboy is the focus of an intense search that has sent investigators into the complex's 180 apartments as well as nearby fields, parks and quarries. Scores of neighbors, friends and family members have organized groups to look for Nevaeh, whose disappearance has touched the southeastern Michigan community.

Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield said no one has been arrested in the round-the-clock investigation. He said persons of interest have been identified.

One of those is a friend of Nevaeh's mother, George Kennedy, 39, who was in custody Wednesday on an unrelated parole violation. Kennedy, whose last known residence was a Monroe motel, is a registered sex offender who was released from prison in 2003 after serving time for fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Crutchfield declined to discuss specifics about Kennedy or name other persons of interest.

Andrew Arena, special agent in charge of the FBI's Detroit office, said Wednesday he planned to bring in more agents and conduct more interviews. He said his daughter has asked him if he found Nevaeh, and such cases affect investigators.

"It's very urgent, and it's something that touches us. ... It affects us, these cases affect the investigators more than anything else we do," he said.

The base of a large tree outside Nevaeh's apartment building has become the repository for stuffed animals, balloons, candles and cards with messages written for Nevaeh. The spot also has served an impromptu gathering place.

"She was a joyous little girl," said Jody McMullen, after holding hands and praying with two friends.

McMullen, a family friend, said she has organized search groups every day since Nevaeh's disappearance and Jennifer Buchanan, Nevaeh's mother, has joined her on some trips.

Sherry Buchanan said her daughter had been in and out of the apartment Sunday and the windows were open, but she heard nothing until a friend of Nevaeh's asked where she was.

"If Nevaeh would've yelled, Jennifer would have heard her," Buchanan said as she stood with her son, Michael, and Nevaeh's father.

Shane Hinojosa lives in Toledo, Ohio, but has been staying in a tent on the apartment grounds since learning of his daughter's disappearance. He admits he hasn't seen his daughter in years and said he is risking arrest by being in Monroe County, where warrants have been issued against him for failure to pay child support.

He said the family is setting aside differences while they search for Nevaeh.

Donna thanks for posting this, I am not too good at cutting and pasting! This case has shades of Haleigh all over it!! The mother Jennifer is a piece of trash who just came out of prison on an 11 month bid for home invasion whereas she broke into a home to steal things for drug money and Nevaeh which is heaven spelled backwards has been living with the granny who I don't think too much of either and the bio Dad has not seen her for three years and has been living in Toledo! But the worst part of this is Mama has been dating a CSO by the name of George Kennedy who was convicted in 1998 of raping a 16 year old girl in back of a gas station in Monroe and only served 18 months of a 2-15 year sentence and was not supposed to have any contact with children and here is mama letting him into her child's life and from what I hear she made the child call him "DADDY GEORGE"?? Disturbing New Evidence in Search for Missing 5 year old
Police Find Blood in 'Person of Interest' Motel Room

MONROE, Mich. -- There are reports Thursday that police have found a bloody towel, a tool stained with blood and photos of young girls in the possession of a "person of interest" in the case of missing 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan.

The youngster was last seen Sunday evening riding her scooter outside the apartment building where she lives with her mother, Jennifer, in Monroe, 40 miles south of Detroit.

Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield said no one has been arrested in the round-the-clock investigation.

However, a local TV station is reporting that inciminating evidence has been seized from a motel room and van belonging to a close friend of Nevaeh's mother, George Kennedy.

The 39 year old is currently in jail under suspicion that he may have violated the terms of his parole as a registered sex offender by being near the girl.

Kennedy, whose last known residence was a Monroe motel, is a registered sex offender who was released from prison in 2003 after serving time for fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

He was sentenced in March 2002 to serve two to 15 years in prison, but was released on parole in July 2007. His parole was scheduled to end in July.

Nevaeh's mother denied a romantic interest in Kennedy, describing him as a friend who calls her every morning -- and befriended her daughter.

Sherry Buchanan, Jennifer's mother, said Kennedy and her daughter met at a probation office after a drug problem led to her conviction on a charge of home invasion in 2006.

Crutchfield declined to discuss specifics about Kennedy or name other persons of interest.

Tensions build in search for Nevaeh

MONROE, MICH -- Eight full days into the search for 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan and authorities are no closer to finding the little girl.

Tensions are building between the family and authorities. Some family members claim they are not being kept up to speed on the investigation into Nevaeh's disappearance.

Searchers say they are frustrated by a lack of cooperation with the Monroe County Sheriff's Department.

"Oh that would be awesome if they would actually do something and tell us something, anything, anything an area to go to, directions. Like this green van I've heard so much about, they won't tell us a description of the van, so we would know what to look for, won't tell us nothin' about it," said Anthony Boyer who is searching for Nevaeh.

Authorities say they are not revealing everything they know for fear it may tip the wrong person off.

Meanwhile, some relatives of the missing girl are making an unthinkable accusation. Carla Elliotte, Nevaeh's paternal grandmother, has been accused of stealing donation money.

Elliotte, who had been camped out at the Charlotte Arms Apartment Complex since last Monday, has been a no-show at vigils and searches for the past three days. Family believes she has stolen donation money and skipped town.

James Easter, is no longer a "person of interest" in the case, according to Monroe County officials. Easter was arrested over the weekend after allegedly burning items on his property just after being questioned by police about Nevaeh's disappearance.

George Kennedy and Roy Lee Smith do remain "persons of interest" in the girl's disappearance. They are both in jail on unrelated parole violations.

An all day search is scheduled for Tuesday in Monroe.

Nevaeh Buchanan - Missing Michigan 5-year old Nevaeh Buchanan fell victim to sexual predators who snatched young Nevaeh from her scooter in an apartment complex parking lot.
A friend playing with Nevaeh Buchanan told police that Nevaeh had been “kidnapped” by a “bad man” who stabbed her, but Monroe County police said they aren’t sure the little girl is dead.
So far, three sex offenders - George Kennedy, Roy Smith, and James Easter - all of whom were friends of Jennifer Buchanan, Nevaeh’s 24-year old mother, have been under police scrutiny and jailed for non-related crimes while the investigation continues more than a week after 5-year old Nevaeh Buchanan went missing.

39-year-old George Kennedy is a friend of Neveah’s mother and is also a registered sex offender.

After the child disappeared on Sunday, police searched a room at the Motel 7 in Monroe where Kennedy had been staying.

Investigators seized shorts, a towel with blood stains, samples of blood from the wall above the bathroom sink, photos of a white female similar to Nevaeh, and hairs from the toilet and bathroom floor.

George Kennedy remains in jail on a probation violation while the investigation continues.

Roy Smith, 48, is listed on the National Sex Offender Registry. His police record dates back almost three decades with convictions for criminal sexual conduct, larceny and breaking and entering.

Nevaeh Buchanan’s mother, Jennifer Buchanan, says George Kennedy was like a father to Nevaeh while her daughter didn’t really know Roy Smith, the other person of interest.

When asked if she thought that Kennedy or Smith would be capable of doing anything against Nevaeh she said, “Anyone is capable of doing anything.”

Roy Smith has been jailed on an unrelated probation violation.

James Easter, 64, was arrested May 31 as he was burning items in his backyard barbecue and detectives sent ashes from the fire for forensic examination.

Police searched the Easter’s home Sunday and dug up the back yard of his property after receiving a tip. Boxes of evidence were also taken from Easter’s home to the Michigan State Crime Lab.

MONROE, Mich. - The search for little Nevaeh Buchanan continues, but now the case could be moving in a new direction. Blood found in the motel room of a person of interest does not belong to Nevaeh. It's giving the little girl's family hope, but raising more questions.

It's a wide-ranging, labor intensive search on hands and knees as Monroe County deputies crawl underneath pine trees. The goal is to search under every tree and bush, anywhere in any area a five-year-old girl could be concealed.

Nevaeh has not been seen since Sunday. Her mother, Jennifer, monitored the search team's progress on Friday.

Civilian search teams also covered miles in and around Monroe. Pastor Dale Hayford is is coordinating with police. "It's been out to the Port of Monroe area, the orchard area. I mean, we've been all over. There was 400 people today that came into the parking lot. They just kept coming and coming. So every area's been gone in to at least three times now," he said.

FOX 2 confirms the blood found of the fishing knife belonging to convicted sex offender, 39-year-old George Kennedy is a negative DNA match to Nevaeh. The blood on the knife is not the blood from the little girl.

Police have also recovered a letter written by Nevaeh's mother addressed to Kennedy. Investigators believe Jennifer Buchanan tried to destroy the letter by tearing it. The letter was recovered torn in a dumpster search. Investigators will not disclose the nature of her message to Kennedy.

49-year-old Roy Smith, who was convicted of raping a 24-year-old woman, also remains a person of interest. In fact, no one has been cleared or ruled out of responsibility in Nevaeh's disappearance. That includes her own mother.

The Monroe County Sheriff told us his search teams will work throughout the night, and they plan a progress report on the case at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Nevaeh's second cousin Shaun Lawson says his family has a real problem with convicted sex offenders having contact with the girl. "It bothers me. It bothers everybody. I mean, everybody asks questions about it, but answers can't be given at this time for it," he said.

Now cops are looking for a green box type van that was seen in the hood, but yet, no one called the law when they saw this strange vehicle in the park while countless child are playing? When I lived in the town proper, I used to keep an eye out all day, especially when the kids were home from school and summer vacation and there is a little playground at the complex that was across the street and I knew every person's car in the hood and if I saw someone paying attention to the kids, I would go outside and stand in the yard watching until I saw them go to an apartment or leave as we all have friends and family come to our homes and one day, two 11 year old boys who lived on the next street over were approached by an older man with greasy unkempt hair with rotten teeth driving an older Cavalier and he wanted them to give him directions and these smart lads ignored him and he pulls the car next to them where they were attempting to cross the street and exposed himself whereas these kids hauled ass to the nearest house, told the resident there to call police and they were smart enough to get a plate number!

I saw all the police cars swooping over there and I ran over and found this all out and I got in my Jeep and drove all over the hood trying to find it, but the cops got him because these kids had decent, smart parents who told them about the stranger danger and they were able describe the car right down to the bumper sticker in the back window and you all can just guess he was a repeat offender having just been released from prison having raped a boy from Saginaw 11 years earlier and he was put away for 20 years this time and those brave lads got up and testified against him and what galled me is the DA had asked the Dept of Corrections to not release him but he maxed out so they could not hold him, but I have a feeling MI will jump on that bandwagon like some states are already doing and VT, strangely enough, just passed that law yesterday!!

I have a feeling that mama or her stupid mama never had the talk with Naveah and another thing I noticed is the park she was snapped from is not that close to the complex as I originally thought, way too far for any child to be unsupervised and I can't help but compare this to the Haleigh case. MONROE — Authorities acting on a tip this afternoon shifted their search for 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan to an area near Dixon Road near the River Raisin in Raisinville Township.

Reports that a body had been found were not confirmed by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Jennifer Buchanan, Nevaeh’s mother, said she had been told that her daughter’s body had been found.

It has just been confirmed by the Monroe sheriff that the body they found in the Raisin River is that of 5 year old Navaeh and she was found by two men fishing and they saw an object in the water and it appeared to them to be a large chunk of cement, then they smelled a bad odor and on further examination, they saw skin and hair and called the police and this was at about 11 a.m. and they secured the scene and have set up a command post and I saw a tent set up and an object covered with a tarp that I assume is the body of this poor child and LE wearing Haz-mat suits are combing for evidence. And guess where her low-life mommy be? Holed up in her apt while Dad is with police as close to the scene as possible and that is where my ass would be!!

I have no sympathy for her whatsoever and I know this sounds harsh seeing as the child has been found murdered, but this all could have been prevented had she cared more about her daughter's welfare and safety and not her own sexual needs. She exposed her child to TWO CSO"s and it will only be a matter of time before we find out which one of these BFF"S committed this evil act and I just want to slap this b*tch right across the face for being such a lousy mother and a low-life scum. It has just been confirmed by the Monroe sheriff that the body they found in the Raisin River is that of 5 year old Navaeh and she was found by two men fishing and they saw an object in the water and it appeared to them to be a large chunk of cement, then they smelled a bad odor and on further examination, they saw skin and hair and called the police and this was at about 11 a.m. and they secured the scene and have set up a command post and I saw a tent set up and an object covered with a tarp that I assume is the body of this poor child and LE wearing Haz-mat suits are combing for evidence. And guess where her low-life mommy be? Holed up in her apt while Dad is with police as close to the scene as possible and that is where my ass would be!!

Oh, Wind, I share your heavy heart with this senseless case. My hatred for these people is beyond words. I have no hope that scum like this will ever cease to exist in our society. Agree that Neveah's mother, if she was so desperate to have a man in her life might have well been looking at church instead of the parole office. Nancy was getting her digs in tonight, wondering aloud if she was spending time with Kennedy; but of course it was pointed out that he remains in jail on no bond. Can't help but think that he's connected.

I spent a year working with SO with shall we say low IQ's. The minute they come under our agency they are housed in 24 hour support-till they die. They go no where without a staff with eyes on them. Alarms on every door within the home. They are followed to the bathroom within their own group home. They will never re-offend as they will never have the chance. Why cant we just get up to speed with this type of housing after jail time. They will re-offend any chance they get. Believe me i spent enough hrs listening to what and why they did what they did. And their sick fantasies. I transferred out after a year of that sector. It's just gotta change-for the children. Especially when a parent cant even parent :flamemad:

I am so with ya on that. If i had my druthers in a perfect world it would be slow and as painful as i could make it. We dont live in that world. The body was buried in a shallow grave with cement poured over the body on the riverbank, but as a woman who did concrete work for a living, the cement had not burned which means hardened all the way and that is why when Mr. Bickell sat down on it, it cracked and that is why it was easy for him to see the body and this poor guy, you could tell he was trying to keep it together on NG, but I bet there is not enough booze in the world that would ever make him forget what he saw, a baby encased in cement. As for my numero uno suspect? That scumbag Kennedy remains top of my list no matter what he whines, he went fishing with his new squeeze, gotta be another low life woman, wonder if it was the same river?? This smacks of a local, that fishing spot was not a popular one and it has to be someone very familiar with the area, I go to one spot on Wixom Lake which is right up the road from my house and I go to a spot my ex-boyfriend goes to as it is next to his house and i have never seen too many people there unless they live on the same road.

Jennifer Buchanan faces the makeshift memorial, saying she can't imagine why anyone would have taken Nevaeh Buchanan, her 5-year-old daughter.

She begins to tell the story of the final moments when, she says, she thought Nevaeh went off to play with a friend.

And then was gone.

It's a story Buchanan has not told in so much detail before. And it's a story investigators are still scrutinizing.

Nevaeh's disappearance, for now, remains a mystery -- two weeks after she was last seen outside her Monroe apartment, just three days after a body, whose identity still is unconfirmed, was found encased in a concrete grave along a riverbank.

The search continues for the person who could have done this to a pretty girl who loved trucks and motorcycles, crayons and macaroni and cheese.

A girl whose life may have ended three days after she raced across a stage and -- all smiles -- grabbed her preschool certificate.

As suspicion swirls, mother tells her story

Down a flight of stairs, inside a dingy two-bedroom apartment, Jennifer Buchanan gave an account of her final moments with her daughter. She spent those precious minutes on a brown couch, watching reruns of "Jon & Kate Plus 8."


In the story Buchanan tells, 5-year-old Nevaeh walked barefoot across the old brown carpet, worn and stained, and headed for the front door.


"Mom, I'm going upstairs to Austin's house to play a game," Buchanan remembers her daughter saying.


It was about 6:30 p.m. on May 24, the day before Memorial Day. Nevaeh walked out, the door shut and that was the last time Buchanan says she saw her daughter.


"I trusted her enough for her to actually go," Buchanan told the Free Press last week in a 2 1/2 -hour interview, discussing everything from her relationship with two sex offenders to how it feels to be suspected in her child's disappearance.


Austin Kuhn, 8, and Nevaeh lived in the same building in the Charlotte Arms apartments and played together nearly every day. A child could probably run from Nevaeh's apartment to Austin's door on the second floor in less than 10 seconds.

She was wearing knee-length jeans and a baby blue, red-and-white striped shirt with a V-neck white collar. Potty trained, but with a habit of waiting until the last second to use the bathroom, Buchanan said, Nevaeh had just had an accident and changed her clothes.


Buchanan didn't get up from the couch to make sure her daughter made it safely up the stairs. She sat there, she said, watching "Jon & Kate Plus 8."


About 20 minutes later, a girl Buchanan described as a tattletale knocked on the door.


"She looked right at me and says, 'Nevaeh is on her scooter in the road,' " Buchanan said. "She said the road, but I knew she meant the parking lot."


Buchanan was angry at her daughter and said she looked for her flip-flops so she could go out to find her...

I've probably said this before. I have 7 weeble wobbles... I take care of 5 of them a few days a week, ages, 6, 6, 5, 4, and 3 years old. All girls. Always did. They are not allowed to go upstairs in the play room, or out in the back yard without nawny.

This house is on high ground, no one can see my back yard. My drive way is long and on an angle and the street is not in sight. I place "Children Playing" signs for the mail man or the UPS person who drives up. I also put a line of lawn chairs across the top of the driveway to remind them not to go beyond that point when they ride their scooters and bike EVEN though I'm sitting there watching them.

As I sit outside watching them play, I don't bring a book with me. I don't bring anything with me but my cuppa cawfee. I arrange games for them to play. We draw with colorful chalk on the courtyard pavement, we blow bubbles and make beaded bracelets, or we create things with Play Dough. In summer, I make lemonade and they pour it into their tea sets and play house. In season we pick mulberries and they each have their own little baskets..there are many things that make children stay occupied in some healthy way. It's my way of keeping them from getting curious and roaming beyond safety lines. While I'm doing this I am counting heads. When one wonders away from me, even a few feet, I call her name immediately.

They are trained, to stay near me. When one has to go potty, we all go into the house. There is no other way.

I cannot for the life of me understand how that woman allowed her daughter to leave her sight to go to another apartment. Five year old children are not mentally developed enough to know danger. If one of my weebles asked me to go to a neighbor's' house, I'd have a full moon fit. I doubt it would occur to any of them to ask.
They know better.

They are bright and witty but not able to care for themselves but, they know at least this much, "We are only safe with nawny, poppa, mommy and daddy." Learned behavior saves the day in my world. Or should I say taught behavior.

No one questions my strong rules. It's all they ever knew. What I know, as a mother who raised four children and as a nawny, is, if anything bad happened to those kids because of an oversight on my part, I'd die. So, when I call them the breath of me, I am talking about the fact that they are my life, because they saved my life.

After I lost Danny (My 32 year old son) these children were born within the next four years. Twins came one year later. If I couldn't fill my arms with this kind of love, then I know I would not have survived.

Children (to me) have the power to change a grieving nawny to one who makes blowing bubbles on a sunny day a very important priority. :) That's how they saved my life.

Neveah's mother threw an angel with that kind of power to the dogs. That's not my opinion, it's the God Damned truth!

I was watching Nancy Grace tonight, and the mother said she didn't know about her boyfriend's record "when she met him", but she darned sure asked him about it when she found out! (paraphrased). Me, now, well, first of all, no one would be around my kids without me knowing all there was to know about them. But if I heard that record after I had known a guy a while, I would be screaming "Have you touched her?! As usual, I agree with you Loretta. She didn't state the lying thing very well but it's intimidating to be on tv in front of the nation and when you're not used to it I can see where you would word things in the wrong way from the way you meant them. I'm still not defending in any way any aspect of her mothering of Nevaeh but I think NG knows who to be hard on and who not. Ronald Cummings would have told her to F off in about two seconds. I'm surprised that Nancy hasn't learned something from the Melinda Duckett incident but I think she's letting her arrogance overcome her common sense. Just my opinion of course. :)

By the way, was she ever that hard on Cindy Anthony? I can't remember.

Thanks, Loretta. That's what I thought regarding Cindy. Jennifer sounds like a lazy, do the bare minimum, type of mother. On the other hand I get sick of NG pretending to cry when she mentions her lovely twins and letting everyone know that she thinks she's the best mother. The day will come when little John David manages to flee the house naked during his bath or some such thing but I'm sure we won't hear about it. I used to be a big NG fan but she's turning me off quick. How about when she asked Jennifer why they couldn't identify Naveah visually and Jennifer had to say because her body was too decomposed. I'm a believer in schedules for kids. Mine has dinner at 7 then bath and then in bed by 8 latest. We have friends who's kids are out running around with them at midnight. Kids need sleep. This little girl, sweet and innocent, is being laid to rest today and it is a sad day for us Michiganders and not to mention angry Michiganders as murders occur in the larger cities like Flint and Detroit daily and even there children being murdered is a rare thing. The only child I can recall being murdered near me is 20 miles south in Saginaw, a 10 month old baby boy was shot and killed during a drive by and these dirtbags that murdered him ranged in age from 14 to 18 and all were given LWPOP sentences and what makes this case even worse, he and his mom were totally innocent victims, she was at a gas station and she drove a white Stratus and these losers just opened fire on the car in front of the mom and about 5 other horrified people who literally had to dive for cover and this sweet child was shot twice in the head.

The thug pieces of dog crap that killed him were wanna be gangbangers and they had heard that a guy was looking to fight with them and he drove a white Stratus, so they see the car and just let the bullets fly not giving one crap that a baby was caught in the crossfire and I wanted these POS's to get the death penalty, but MI does not have it and not one ounce of remorse did I see out of them, they sat in court, looking bored, laughing it up and doing gang signs with their hands and one called a judge a MF when he gave him the LWPOP sentence. And my heart broke everytime I saw the mom in court, she was an educated woman, had a good job working at a prison and the boy's father tried to commit suicide months after losing his child and these POS's just sit there like lumps when he spoke at a sentencing hearing for the youngest who was 14 at the time of the murder and this man's pain was so clear on his face, I haven't seen agony like that in a long time and I hope I never will again, he spoke about the joy of having his first son, the baby's smile when he would see his daddy, and the loss was so great, he wanted to die himself and everyone in that courtroom was crying including the judge.

His mother was so upset she suffers a fatal heart attack hours later so these losers had many more victims than that innocent beautiful child and they could have given a s*it less and one of their mama's puts on quite the show at his verdict, she wails and carries on, throwing herself on the floor blaming everyone but her horrible sorry ass excuse of a son for the baby's death, and this loser was 17 and had been in trouble since he was 9, stealing, beating up other kids, harming animals, he burned up a cat and here is this loser broad wailing that DeShawn is a wonderful boy and did not deserve to go to jal as she claimed to tried to get help for him and because she was on the welfare she could not afford therapy and that is a pile of crap as the state spent almost $92,000 in therapy and mental health programs and they had told her he was a dangerous person and she yanked him from all of it, total denial. But I digress here.

As it stands today, there have been no arrest yet in this senseless murder that so could have been avoided as I think it is either one of those pukes or both that have committed this heinous crime and her loser mother is totally to blame for bringing them into her baby's life and I hope she never has a day of peace for the rest of her life and I hope charges are brought against her, at the very least, child neglect, at the most, accessory to murder but that might be a stretch because there are no statues on the books to charge her with felony charges and there damm sure ought to be. A woman is serving a LWPOP sentence for the beating death of a 2 year old girl in NC, initially was given the DP, a lawyer was able to get off Dr because her IQ ranks in about a 62 and they can't execute a retarded person, She claims it was her boyfriend who was the uncle of this poor little girl that was abusing her and swung the fatal blow that killed her and he is on DR. She was charged because the DA felt she did nothing to stop the abuse and I have to agree despite what she claims, that she was afraid of him and she looks like she outweighs him by about 70 lbs and she also had custody of her own kids now adults and she said he never laid on a hand on her kids and they back that up, and not one soul ever saw any abuse marks on them, those friends and family said she was a good mother and that Tabitha was a whiny child, would not listen, but how many two year old's that you know that are not going to fight you every step of the way, when they want their own way???

She was a typical 2 year old and he bashed her brains in by hauling her into a wall, actually leaving a hole and I think both of them should be on the way to hell via the chair, I did not buy her story one bit and no matter what this loser mother says about how she knew that Kennedy was a CSO, but still let him near the child because she believes in giving people a SECOND CHANCE? Well it only took ONE SECOND and Navaeh goes missing and the chance that she would be found alive was slim and sadly, my hunch came true.


Since the COD or possible rape trauma has not been made public, I just pray that she died quickly and did not suffer, but if she was raped, then she did suffer greatly and it makes me so pissed off at the thought of a grown man tearing into her little body, I just see red when I think of these pukes because while LE has not been ready to say they have the murderer, I think they already have the man or men in custody and sooner of later the truth will come out and MI will have to rethink DEATH PENALTY because this case surely warrants it and no other punishment would be just, and last week I read where a man who raped and murdered a girl in Iran, was whipped right in the town square with all to see, was then castrated, and then beheaded and I thought, damm this country is too HUMANE, maybe if our corporal punishment was more harsh and guaranteed to cause tons of pain, then crimes against innocent women and especially children would drop dramatically.

I could easily see Couey tied to a post getting what he should get, castrated and then beheaded, and Duncan, Smith, the Edenfield's, and all the other child killers would feel real pain when executed instead of a sodium cocktail whereas he just goes to sleep, not feeling a god damm thing. Michigan Town Mourns for 5-Year-Old

MONROE, Mich. (June 13) - Mourners embraced family members Saturday as they filed past the closed casket of a 5-year-old found buried along a river, paying final respects to a girl described by one of them as "Monroe's little angel."

Some 700 people attended the funeral service in Stewart Road Church of God for Nevaeh Buchanan, whose disappearance triggered a massive search by police and residents alike. Her death, still under investigation, cast a shadow of grief over the close-knit, blue-collar city of 22,000.

"That one little girl was so powerful, she brought the community together," said the Rev. Dale Hayford, senior pastor of Crosswalk Community Church, who along with the Rev. Sam Luke officiated at the service.

Two large screens showed a slideshow of photos from Nevaeh's short life.
"Seeing a lot of the pictures from birth until she passed, it hits home," said 34-year-old Tracey Addington of Dundee, who helped search for Nevaeh. " ... If you have anyone who is around that age, it's overwhelming."

The two-hour service included prayers, Christian songs and a performance of Sarah McLachlan's "Angel." A local music group sang a song written for Nevaeh that concluded, "Because of her, we won't be the same."

After the service, a procession led by nine police officers on motorcycles traveled 2 1/2 miles to St. Joseph Cemetery. They were followed by a Harley-Davidson motorcycle drawing the hearse bearing Nevaeh's casket. Next were another 60 motorcycles and about 100 cars, including one carrying Nevaeh's mother, Jennifer Buchanan, and grandmother Sherry Buchanan.

Some 500 mourners looked on as Hayford and Luke spoke at Nevaeh's gravesite. The service concluded with funeral director Brian Merkle releasing a white dove into the gray sky.

Nevaeh disappeared from her Monroe apartment complex May 24. Two fishermen found her body June 4 along the River Raisin in Monroe County's Raisinville Township, 35 miles south of Detroit. The body was covered in cement and appeared to be buried in a shallow grave.

The cause of death has not been determined.

Two men described by investigators as "persons of interest" in the case are in custody and awaiting parole revocation hearings for having associated with Jennifer Buchanan, herself a convicted felon.

During the search for Nevaeh, Lori Rafter of Monroe tied six yellow ribbons and a single white flower to her Ford Focus, signifying her hope that the girl would be found.

"Even though we found her, I couldn't bring myself to cut them off," said Rafter, 47, who attended the funeral. "It's going to take a little bit of time for me to do that. But she'll always be in the community's heart. She's Monroe's little angel."
