McCann family to appear on Oprah
Wed Apr 22, 11:49 am ET
LONDON – The parents of missing British girl Madeleine McCann are flying to the United States to film an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Kate and Gerry McCann left London on Wednesday. Madeline disappeared in May 2007 from a resort in southern Portugal.
The McCanns will first visit the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, Virginia. They are then to travel to Chicago to record an interview Friday for the "Oprah Winfrey Show."
Age-progression images showing Madeleine as she might look now will be aired during the show, which is scheduled to be broadcast in the U.S. on May 4.
Family spokesman Clarence Mitchell says the McCanns agreed to speak with Winfrey because of the global reach of her show. It is aired in 144 countries.

I really hope they find Maddie-or her body, but I don't think it's ever going to happen.
And I have one comment about the McCanns appearing on Oprah.
WHY????
Why after all this time???
But I've asked that question about so many other things in this case.
Why did they leave those sweet babies ALONE, for the love of God???
Why were they not cooperative with the LE in Portugal???
Why did they need a PR guy???
Why tour Europe looking for a child that probably never got more than 50 miles from where she was "abducted"???
Why were the babies able to sleep so SOUNDLY through the circus that went through the hotel room when the cops arrived???
A THOUSAND WHYS...and none have been answered, and none will bring Maddie back.

I agree with the why's that samanthajane puts forward, but I feel so much for the parents, family and, of course, Maddie herself.
I think going on Oprah will reignite the 'interest' as it were, in this case. At the start tehre was huge media frenzy and pressure to find little Madeleine, now she is barely mentioned in any newspaper or news source.
I just hope that one day, she will be found.

My heart breaks for Maddie, but to this day I still believe that her parents had SOMETHING to do with her death...more than just leaving her and the twins alone and Maddie being kidnapped.
And I hope that they find the body so that forensics can prove it. And that poor little doll deserves a proper burial, anyway, even if she snuggles with the angels every night.
To my way of thinking, it just couldn't happen that way-kidnapping, that is...
The McCanns did SOMETHING that caused her death.
Too many plot holes and nothing adding up.
Smell of death on the room and cadaver dogs hitting on the car.
Too much BS to the stories from Mom, Dad, and the rest of the group.
Where I come from, 1 + 1 = 2.
Just my opinion, of course.

ITA with you samantha I believe myself they had something to do with maddies disaperance...to many holes in the story nothing fits..everyone has a different story..I really wish maddie to be found soon it breaks my heart to know shes out there somewhere in another country..I would of never left the country if she was my daughter..no matter what the McCann are guilty for leaving there three young children alone in another country..

But you know, the REAL place she wasn't safe was ANYPLACE her parents were.
The country of Portugal is actually INNOCENT.
And she's not anywhere on Earth, anyway.
She sleeps in the Blessed Mother's arms and plays among the angels.

Maddie you are not forgotten :rose:
I also firmly believe the parents had something to do with the childs dissapearance.
I wonder how much money they will get out of the interview with Oprah?

No need to be mad, they were not paid anything. Nor was there a donation to the Fund. Oprah does not pay for interviews. The McCanns only did the interview to publicise their continued search for their missing daughter. As long as there is no proof that she is dead, they will never give up that search.
IMO, the best justice anyone can do for Madeleine is to support the continued search for her.
