The incident , moments after the 27-year-old father of two Mahmoud Dib was formally refused bail by Magistrate Dakin , inspired a number of other associated to yell ''dogs'' at police and say the arrest of Dib would have ''no effect.''

Dib's solictor , Mohammed Masri , earlier told the court his client would not be requesting bail after having a brief , whispered conversation with him in the dock.

Dib faces six firearms related charges , including possessing a leaded firearm in a public place , possessing an unauthorised pistol and having ammunition without a licence.

In his charge sheet , police alleged Dib was in possession of the .45 calibre pistol in Talbot Street Guilford.

He returns to Burwood Local Court for a bail application on Friday March 27.

Police raided home of Mahmoud Dib , 26 , in the Park Road , Auburn , just after 6am today , arresting him over firearm offences. he was taken to Auburn police station and was charged this afternoon.

Dib's home was the target of a drive-by shooting in the early hours of Monday , March 16. Later that day , police pulled him over in Granville vehicle stop and arrested and questioned him for suspected gun offences before being released.

Dib has been charged with six firearms offences , including possessing a firearm in a public place and possessing an unregistered firearm , after gang squad detectives found a loaded gun in a car owned by Dib parked in a Guilford Stereet last Monday.

Acting Superintendent Angelo Memmolo , from Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad , said a .45 calibre semi-automatic pistol , loaded with seven bullets , was found in the car.

Dib wasn't in the car at the time , but was in the area , he said.

''The firearms offences relate to a search by Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad officers on the 16th of March at Guilford , wherfe they located a gun in a vehicle ,'' Acting Supt Memmolo told reporters.

''We've obtained evidence over the last week that the car was in his possession.''

Acting Supt Memmolo said nodrugs or weapons were found in the early morning raid on Dib's home.

Police did seize two harley-Davidson motorcycles , which they believe may be stolen.

Since Monday two houses believed linked to the Bandidos rival gang Notorious were shot up in a suspected revenge attack.

The two gangs are currently warring.

This then prompted a suspected retribution attack , with a gun battle occurring outside the home of a family member of Dib in nearby Pine Road about 1am Sunday.

Seven houses were shot up during the battle , in which an automatic weapon was used.

Police suspect Bandidos were prepared for the attack and lay in wait.
