I get so frustrated reading stuff like this knowing that these police are protected as abusers a lot of the time. There are too many incidents of police taking advantage of their positions and it happens time and time again. People are murdered as prisoners and if the murderer is a police man it is likely he will get way with it.Something needs to be done. I there were not so many laws protecting police from being charged while on the job I bet a few would think twice and we need to remember that these guys make all the police look bad, even the good ones.

The rubber stamp of "unfounded" seems to make some think there is no truth to the allegations but what about those that have been reported and there were no cameras available. I heard on a news program that the policeman claimed to injured when the girl kicked off her shoe but a there is evidence on the video that he hurt his knee when he attacked her and hit his leg on the metal toilet. The trouble with the girl's trouble breathing according to the police, was not a result of the police attack but a panic attack. I think we would have all had a panic attack, if we were attacked in that manner.

I watched the video and that shoe *barely flew off... it wasn't like she hurled it at him. This cop needs to go down and I'm glad that there is such good video b/c that is exactly what's going to hang him.

I think the video should hang them. I think the one that failed to report the attack, if he failed, should also be severely disciplined.

I think it calls for a criminal trial and a civil one, although at this point I am unfamiliar with the extent of the damages the girl suffered.

I wonder if abusing this girl that it made him feel more like a macho man! Very rarely am I on the side of a criminal, but I take exception in this case and I want that deputy fired, he puts a blight on LE, that is way beyond tactical force, that is aggravated assault!! Thank God for the camera, she would not have a leg to stand on without that and I have to question him, he obviously was aware that his every move is recorded, did he really think the sheriff would let this one slide?? He also had a prior assault in his jacket, I think his days of LE are over, if he is not fired, that sheriff needs to not be re-elected. I am glad that the woman was not critically injured and as for throwing a shoe, he ought to be glad it wasn't urine, feces, or blood.

How awful, although I do think it's important for us to be reminded, that cops are just people too, and just like people can be bad, so can cops :(

Seriously, if I were the other officer I would have at least tried to restrain him. The second guy did nothing but help pin her down during the assault. I wonder, had this guy decided to go further with his brutality would he have sat and continued to allow it?

If I were a child or woman in this man's life I would be petrified. Just seeing that he could behave this way towards a 15 y.o. female child would have me rethinking what kind of monster I am dealing with.

Absolutely, for too long the police have included and tolerated criminals in their own ranks protecting them with the thin blue line. If these guys would really understand that their failure to act is the reason that there is so much public mistrust and makes their jobs far more dangerous than if they were respected by the average citizen; and realise that just as in society a police officer who sees a crime committed and does nothing is actually an accomplice, they would be less likely to protect these cowards and less likely to ostracize the few police with enough integrity to demand what is right.

True Mindy but an average citizen is not protected from taking responsibility for their crimes. Many cases have been reported where the evidence of police murdering inmates has been proven but they are protected from experiencing the full weight of the law. So what is to stop them from continuing? These types of crimes oft3en go unreported such as this one because people know cops don't get punished and the victim is villainised. I know there are a lot of great cops and I commend them but they have to clean up their ranks if they want to truly be proud of the force.

Ah, that seldom penetrated Blue Wall of Silence but in fairness to the other officer, a police person, who tries to do their job correctly, is all too frequently ostracized by his fellow officers and sometimes not given back up when necessary. There is no doubt in my mind that police personnel face an arduous task on a daily basis and my hat is taken off to them, as I could not go to work on a job that knowingly risked me killing or being killed on a daily basis. I do no know what amount of training and in what areas would allow a person to successfully adapt to that amount of stress while upholding the oath they were sworn to uphold and, perhaps, an intermittent switch in job duties or more rest and relaxation time may be the answer. :shrug:
