Is this the first time we have heard from the Croslin family?
Seems to me that they've spoken about Cousin Joe before, and there was Hank's statement about not knowing how old Ron is. Other than that, they've been pretty quiet.
ETA: That video interview with Misty very early on was with a relative (I think), but not sure who the woman was.

I can't remember the interview--was it just a reporter, or was it on a show? But, Grandma Neves was saying that family members went over "to check on the kids" which, @ the time, I was thinking--checking on Haleigh and Jr, possibly because someone KNEW they were home alone? Or, was Misti included in "the kids"--and it was to see how they all were getting along.
It was on Prime News with Mike Galanos, Schauland's comment was made in response to a viewer's question about when Haleigh was last seen by anyone other than Misty. His answer was that she was seen playing outside by neighbors in the afternoon. CNN doesn't transcribe PN, but the question arose because of the reports that relatives had visited in the evening.
Well, heck y'all. Maybe it's one of those things like supper and dinner and lunch and dinner. People have different meanings, but they know what they're talking about.
Where I grew up, we had breakfast, dinner and supper. I move 90 miles away, and here, we have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Go figure. I guess, maybe, coming from the farmland, we had our big meal (dinner) @ noon and here, the big meal is in the evening?
I also remember early on in this case, that someone said that the kids were outside playing with some neighbor kids. So I am assuming that means that the kids were all outside playing together, then supper was ready, and they were eating when great grandmother arrived. By the time they were finished eating , they were getting baths and getting ready for bed. At least that is what I have figured at this point.
Is it just me or did he look drunk or something when he was whining?
I kind of wondered the same thing when I watched it. But, he did also have the same demeanor and what I heard as slurring of words in some of the other videos of him in front of the tents. Either he is "drunk or something" during some of these videos, or maybe that's just how he looks and talks, normally.
And, IMO, when he is complaining there is always a camera in his face, he had a little smile--like maybe he kind of liked it--not being able to go anywhere without cameras. And, do the reporters just tag along after him whenever he leaves the tents (like, is there NO other news to cover? Are they waiting right there for a break in the case?) OR, did someone tip the reporters off that he was going to another county for tattoos?
i don'tknow if they were..there are so many articles written, some i think are being phoned home,if that meansthereporteris just making things up...there was a whole discussion about the temp. being 69 outside & that was too cold.. no it isn't too cold..............................
I drove into town yesterday am in a short sleeved shirt--and looked @ the temp thingie in the car--it was 35 degrees!!! Now, here, that isn't cold @ all, just a tad chilly. 69 is getting warm. I guess in places where the temps are usually somewhat warmer, some would call 69 too cold for a picnic, but it wouldn't seem too cold here.

I hope we're not getting to where 60 is old, I'm coming up on that number @ a pretty fast pace!!!! My grandmothers were both 86 when they died--10 years apart!! Daddy's brothers and sisters all made it to the 90 mark, he's just a couple of years from that now.
I think, when my Mom became a GGrandma, she was probably 65 ish. Especially if all involved started their families early (like late teens) Haleigh's ggrandma could be just in her 60's, or even younger. People who have lived a "hard life" seem to look older than their years.
I am a GGrandma and have been since age 59. I was 19 and my daughter and granddaughter were both 20 when their daughters were born. None of us look especially old but we take care of our skin. My daughter went out recently with two of her daughters and was asked if they were triplets. Yes, I know, OT.
Could be the same complainant that Mrs. Neves was harassing. Wonder whose visitation Mrs. Sykes was interfering in? But not seeing anything that leads me to believe that GGmother is also Crystal's aunt, or that Mrs. Griffis and her own property together. (EXCEPT these people probably consider the kids chattels.)
Who knows? It just bothers me that Schauland didn't specify that the neighbors saw Haleigh and Mrs. Sykes also saw her. I'd like to believe that there is someone in this family, anyone in this family that doesn't come off as suspect.
Saw on the previews to JVM that Crystal is going to have to move her tent soon from where she's got it set up. I hope someone will give her a place to move it to. (Sorry for the dangling preposition.)
One would think that the folks who were willing to help Ron out--with the RV and the space to park it, when he has relatives right there where he could stay--would also provide the same to Crystal. Guess maybe the person(s) who helped Ron might be his relatives, and not so sympathetic to his ex-wife?
oh my head...i remember seeing crystal's stepmother & thinking she llooked too young to be a grandmother...now, i read she's 29.:hat:
or was that someone else's stepmother.i don't know my name anymore.
someone could donate. they donate tattoos.
I remember reading that, too, the stepmom being just a few years older than Crystal. I never have seen or heard anything from/about her dad--except maybe he was in a group I saw early on.

There's just no telling. I read on another board where a poster stopped by Satsuma and the Cummings are far from a popular family from what she could tell, yet they seem to have community support. It's going to seem a shame if someone doesn't step up for Crystal; you can't blame her for wanting to be close to the investigation, and it can't be easy camping out. I have read that there is something in the works to get her a tent site.
On the other hand, Ron has relatives nearby, and he did tell the judge that he would be living with his mother. Why not move back in with her? He said in one of the recent articles that he spends all his time with Junior, but I don't see how that's possible, and if it is, I don't see how living in a tent or RV would be the best situation for him.
Honestly, I don't see why Cummings is so averse to going back home; Junior is at least somewhat familiar with the trailer, and I suppose that's where his belongings are, and when/if Haleigh comes home, that's where she would expect her family to still be living. Ron can't suck it up?

I realize we all come from different backgrounds, or maybe it's different generations, but, really, I don't think a tatoo of my daughter who has just gone missing is what I would be spending time and $$ on. Even if someone else paid for it, that $400 could have been put to use in the search of his daughter. I could see, oh, months down the road, where a tatoo might be something I would think of, but in the midst of the search?
I guess a tatoo parlor some miles down the road would be a quiet place, away from reporters and other prying eyes where one (that is into tatoos) might go to just step away from the situation, even for just a few hours.
IMO, the way Ronald is acting looks like he knows that Haleigh is dead and not coming home. Like his refusal to go into the trailer and now getting the tattoo. If my child were just missing, I would want to keep everything just like she left it so it would be that way when she got back. JMO, as always.
LOL!!! Speaking of food. I saw a commercial for fiber cereal (I hate cereal) so I asked poppa, is fiber good for regularity only? He said, no, it's good for cholesterol problems; and especially oat.
I'm on Lipitor,so I figure I'll go make myself some oatmeal, seeing that I have to get rid of the winter fat and all. (I would have rather had some left over gnocchi)
Stupidly, I decide to try making it in the microwave. It got sticky and gooey and the dish looked like it was permanently destroyed. So I poured heavy cream and sugar in it. So much for the diet! And I refused to read any of Loretta's posts until I ate it all.
I have to pm Amy and ask her how to use the microwave.
I was reading along and thinking--so EASY to make oatmeal in the microwave, lol!!! You go buy these packets from Quaker Oat or even store brand. They are INSTANT oatmeal. I suppose there are some of things like cream of wheat or whatever, but I don't eat those. Actually, you heat the water (for about 1 minute, 1 1/2 minutes and pour the instant into the cup and stir. I use those @ work, the coffee machine has a hot water spout. I put the oats in the cup, add some water and I'm ready to go!!! Sometimes @ work, if I can't find a spoon, I put enough water in to drink it, or less so I can eat it with a fork, lol!!! (I have those @ work for times I can't get to the cafeteria, and by then my blood sugar is so low, or I'm so dang hungry it's like a gourmet meal to me!!! lol) Adding milk or half/half if you didn't get quite enough water in makes it all good, too. ;)

Exactly! Do you remember when he said that he'll always believe that Haleigh is alive until they bring her home? (Paraphrased.) Can't remember if he actually said her name when he made that statement.
I flove my oatmeal and yogurt breakfast.
For half a serving I use 1/2 C water and 1/4 C regular oats. Microwave one minute and let it settle for a few seconds, then microwave one more minute. Add a pinch of kosher salt and a smidge of Brummel and Brown. Dig in!
I like Fiber One cereal, but it takes forever to chew!
To set your hair on fire: Put a cigarette in your mouth. Just as you flick your lighter to ignite that delicious tubular mixture of mentholated tobacco and God knows what else, lean over to pick up your glass of wine. VOILA Hair on fire! Pat it out like nothing happened and be glad that you didn't use hairspray.
Repeat as often as necessary depending on your learning curve.
SO glad I had just exhaled my cigarette smoke when I read this!!! Soo funny. Actually, another way is to lean your elbow on the table, then lean your head on your hand which is holding your lit cigarette. Then, get absorbed into reading posts and forget your cigarette is burning away, until you smell something peculiar. THEN, pat the fire out. I never use hair spray, so I'm pretty safe. I just tell people I have frizzy hair--never mind that all the frizz seems to settle in that one little area!!!

New Details Emerge In Haleigh Cummings Disappearance
SATSUMA, Fla. -- In the days leading up to Haleigh Cummings disappearance, family and friends tell us there was no indication anything was different in the small community of Satsuma. The family of the girl who put Haleigh Cummings to sleep and was the last person to see her is speaking out about who they believe may have something to do with Haleigh’s disappearance.
“If my family there’s watching it I don’t care…I think that he needs to be brought here and questioned and interrogated by cops he don’t know,” said Lisa Croslin.
Croslin is talking about her nephew. The 19-year-old was in town a few weeks before Haleigh’s disappearance. She says before Haleigh was taken, her nephew got in a fight with Haleigh’s father, Ronald.
“What happened is he had stolen Ronald’s gun…and one morning on the porch he said Ronald would get what’s coming to him…then it was dropped, and he left," said Lisa Croslin.
Croslin says her nephew left the day Haleigh was abducted. She also tells us a light blue van her nephew might have drove was confiscated and analyzed by police. Croslin’s husband Hank says a mysterious gash appeared on the side of the van the night Haleigh disappeared.
The Croslins say they’re positive their daughter had nothing to do with Haleigh’s disappearance. They also say they’re putting their faith in the police to investigate everyone including their own family.

Even with drug dealers or angry brother-of-girlfriend, it just seems to me that if someone was going to see that Ronald got what was coming to him, that someone would do something TO RONALD, break a leg, tie him to a stake in a fire-ant den, or even kill him. But, I do remember on a JBR board, where someone was insisting that someone killed her because that would hurt John Ramsey forever, whereas hurting him or killing him wouldn't be enough torture. Maybe it's just me, but when I get mad @ someone, I think of all the things I could do to that person, I just never get to the part where I think about getting back @ them by harming their children in someway. I guess, tho, if I had pedophile tendancies, I might kill two birds w/one stone, so to speak. Get back @ the guy I'm mad @, and get my jollies with a kid. (Sorry gotta go wash my hands out with soap, that is SOOO gross.)
Glad that you mentioned the sleeping arrangements. I've done a lot of homestudies, and am very curious as to what the dealio is at the Cummings house. The master bedroom isn't all that large according to the previous tenant, yet there were two beds in there which might indicate that it was habit for someone else to sleep with the parents. Is there not a bed in each of the children's rooms? If one of the children's rooms doesn't have a bed, why not move the one bed out of the master into it? What necessitated this sleeping arrangement on such a regular basis that an extra bed is required? Both these children are old enough to have a room to his/herself, and old enough to sleep through the night without having to be exposed to Cummings' and Misty's intimate relationship.
Also, I keep coming back to the fact they had only lived there for 3 weeks, which I didn't realize in the beginning. Perhaps they hadn't set up the whole house yet? Altho, it would seem to me that, if there were 2 beds, they could have set up @ least TWO bedrooms. Unless they had just moved all their worldly possessions in, putting them into the other bedrooms, and hadn't gotten around to sorting things out, moving things out of the bedrooms to make room for the kids?

I haven't been in this situation, but I think being in the home where I had "happy memories" of my daughter would be a GOOD place to be. I could see, if he had said he couldn't go back because that is where his daughter was kidnapped from, not to want to go back, but no to go back because of the happy memories. And, by the way, how many "happy memories" could have occured in 3 weeks time? Thinking like, a routine of cooking breakfasts together, or watching special tv shows, Christmases, birthdays, things like that. He had started working nights, she was @ school during the day, it's not like there were hours on hours in the 3 weeks to be together. Of course, that (the not having a lot of time together) might have been what made the time they DID have together so special. Wonder if he knew her name then? :chicken:

The fact that the family only lived in the trailer for three weeks definitely makes me think that the sleeping arrangements were set up with at least one child in the master, not that it evolved that way. Where did everyone sleep at Mrs. Neves'? And even though they're not married, Ron and Misty are likely still in the honeymoon phase of their relationship; WTH would they want to have a three year old and/or a five year old sleeping in their room even if it was appropriate?

The first thing that comes to mind re: revenge not being taken out directly on Cummings, is that if he's dead or laid up, he wouldn't be able to repay his debt.
PS I think it's normal at some point to put yourself not just in the role of the victim of a crime, but also the perp in order to understand what happened and why.

Regarding the tatoo: I seriously doubt that you think like Ronald so of course you would not do that. He is out there and I don't trust him a bit. I said early on I bet it's a drug deal somehow playing into this. He is in no position to have custody of those children. Must have been the lesser of two evils.

No doubt. That's what I thought when I first read the judge's notes anyway. Happens all the time. The thing is; is he the lesser? Really? Crystal has admitted that she did drugs, but I've yet to see an arrest record. Cummings has the arrest record, but no convictions which makes me think that if he's an informant and if the court is aware that he has small children, then everyone involved is responsible for putting those children at risk.

I didn't notice her name on the tatoo. (Course, it was hard to see.) Maybe, if her name was on there, he could look @ his leg right before interviews so as to know what her name is. Or, maybe he couldn't remember it for the tatoo artist to put it on there. Heck, the tatoo artist most likely knows her name!!!!

I could not agree with you more. I know of instances where LE has used losers like this for informants knowing small kids were around. You will never know who or much he informed because those records would be sealed. He would only be identified as a CI anyway, never by name. You can bet though the one going to jail knows exactly the circumstances and who was around when for what ever they were charged for and could easily figure out who the nark was.
I know of an instance where a 3 year old was molested by an informant and a Hugh cover-up began to protect him and the LE involved. POS is still on the streets working for LE collecting disability. :flamemad:

IMO, the way Ronald is acting looks like he knows that Haleigh is dead and not coming home. Like his refusal to go into the trailer and now getting the tattoo. If my child were just missing, I would want to keep everything just like she left it so it would be that way when she got back. JMO, as always.
I agree people get Tat's like that to honor the memory of loved ones when thay die. I have thought all along he knows she is dead. This POS had given me the ICK feeling since day one.

Nope, didn't watch the Godfather. Don't watch the Sopranos, either. ;) I guess I can see what Loretta is saying--if you're dead, you won't be paying up. Whereas, someone close to you goes missing--you might pay up, especially if you wonder who they might take next if ya don't?
I guess that could be why there would be no ransom note--Ronald would already know exactly what he owed if this is the case.

And if it was a drug deal, he would have been better off to take the donation of $400 to save towards what he owes, I'd think.

The only other one I remember (altho I know there are probably more) is Scott Peterson. Pretending to hope his pregnant wife is alive and her kidnappers (who didn't ever send a ransom note) would be coming home any time--yet he is asking a realtor friend after a few weeks about selling the house with all the furnishings instead of keeping it for Laci to come home to!!!!!
And, again, I'd think I would want to be where the "happy memories" occured--kind of make me feel close to my daughter as I was waiting for her to come home alive.

I hope they're not planning to write a Cummings book at this point. Nothing coalesces. It would make the bin.
This is just another, Peterson/Anthony/OJ/ piece of fiction. And, bad fiction, at that.

Ronnie gets a tattoo in the middle of the investigation. If the tattoo artist has any contacts with drug dealers, maybe this is why Ronnie chose this odd time to go see him. If drug dealers have haleigh and want a ransom, this could be a plan to make a trade. I figure Ronnie will go see his pedicurist soon and drop the money off. ;)

Mrs. Sykes was talking about cleaning or picking up or something right at the beginning, so I wonder how much work they did in there.
Just started watching, but so far I've got more questions than answers. Why didn't Misty go into the master bath? How did Junior hear squeaky shoes? So the kidnapper propped open the screen door, but how did (s)he keep the wooden door from slamming shut?

Yes, scarily enough the place actually looks neat and tidy, but Teresa advised that she cleaned it up, so it probably did not always look that clean. She even said the area by the back door where the laundry is was always full of dirty clothes and I notice that the beds did not have frames. What do you all make of the door? It slams hard and it is very hard to open, surely, Misti was not home when this little angel was taken, and if one has to go pee, there is a bathroom four feet away, why would you go to the other one when you have one in your area? I know now after seeing the layout of that house, it has to be somebody that knows this clan, knows that door opens up hard and that is why the door was propped open, for easy access, the floors do not squeak, he was in and out easily, made easier I think by the fact Misti was not in that home. He saw her leave, he went to the back door, propped it open, and went in and grabbed Haleigh. Misti came home and found her gone and panicked and had to come up with a story. Haleigh's bed is four feet away from her's and she did not hear a thing? She did not hear him prop the door open? NO, she is lying through her teeth and I think Ron's family knows it, but because of all the negative publicity about these people, they do not want to admit it publicly. And you notice she is absent and has been for weeks now? She is not staying with Ron in the RV or tent or wherever they are staying. The home is not that large, I am sure that if she was home, she would have heard that door open and funny thing? The screen door slams shut, but the inside door closes by itself, unless she was so baked on Oxycotin, surely, she should have heard something. Things not adding up here kids still. I still think it is a SO that no one knows about, and my bus driver today thinks the same thing, he is a former state cop and he knows all too well how these scumbags operate, same thing I said, they are opportunists, they see a kid, they zero in, to see how to snap them.
Yesterday in Merill, there was a 13 year old boy that was approached by an older man with long greasy gray hair, no teeth, grubby looking, driving a white van and asked the boy directions, the boy tried to ignore him and he started to get out of the vehicle and the kid ran, and this is the second time, LE feels that he has approached boys. In Owosso, on Monday, a man with the same MO approached two 12 year old boys and offered them candy and wanted to know if they wanted an X-Box as he had one for sale, They ran to the neighbors and he booked. The local media put out a composite and he even looks like a snapper! How much ya wanna bet he is a RSO???

I know and the grandma said there is always laundry back there so how did he get the door open anyways with laundry on the floor. Also he would have to step on the laundry. It looks like it's dirty outside so they would have footprints on the clothes, right?
Yes, and Misti going to the other bathroom has been so confused. I also do not like the sleeping arrangments. I understand sometime parents co-sleep but I find it odd that Misti already does.

I do believe this is possible. A few pages back I mentioned that they need to be asking OTHER states and OTHER jurisdictions in Florida if any of their SO have relatives living around the area or were given travel permits. Officers usually get detailed info about SO's and tons of their relatives.

She said she never got to the bathroom because she saw the light on in the kitchen. If Junior heard squeaky shoes, it's probably because many shoes squeak due to the inner and outer soles rubbing together. The wooden door won't slam if you don't let it.

The master bath is the other direction from the second BR. In fact it's right smack dab in the master bedroom. Why go out of your way to use the other bathroom? And she would have had to walk pretty much all the way into the living room to see the kitchen light.
So the killer came in through the screen and propped it open, then through the back door, and closed it knowing that it would slam, grabbed Haleigh, re-opened the back door while carrying her and closed it behind himself? Well heck, why bother propping open the screen?
I don't think the sound of the shoes could have been heard on the carpet, but do wonder if Junior heard the shoes on the kitchen floor. I wonder too if Haleigh is an unusually heavy sleeper. Seems like she would have been fighting and making noise.

IMO, I think Misty was not there or a very sound sleeper, maybe dazed somewhat. Most children that are picked up from a sound sleep will grunt, or snore a little, or some like 2 of my grandchildren will wimper for a while. Mrs. Neves said the MB door was always open. When I lived in a dw mobile home, I could see the light brighten up through the door when one of the kids got up to go to the bathroom that was on the other side of the house across from the kitchen and living room. I don't see either how NG's producer could not hear the screen door slam from the MB. Those things are very loud, especially in an older home where some of the weather stripping is dilapidated. I noticed that the wooden door did close, but slowly and did not make noise. jmo

It's too bad that NG didn't ask why misti decided to use the other bathroom but personally I don't see that it matters. One reason might be that she didn't want to flush a toilet near the kids and wake them.
I would say the person opened the wooden door just far enough to enter and eased it shut.
A shoe can squeak against a tile or linoleum floors but other shoes squeak internally. They can be heard loudly on carpeted floors.

I still think it was a relative or family friend who lived close and knew the trailer layout. I know that is sick but it is the easiest explanation IMO sara

One thing that bothers me is that the room with all the toys and her toddler bed frame was closer than the master. Once the perp looked in that room and didn't see her or JR why wouldn't he assume that they were gone that night. Especially if he had been watching. Since there was family over then one could have easier watched both of the kids overnight. But after he checks there he goes on to the master. It doesn't add up unless he/she knew that the kids slept somewhere else.JMO

Hey Dazy! It was the screen door that was propped open. And it's possible that even though opening the wooden door would have swept the dirty clothes out of the way, the kidnapper could have used them to prop it open while he grabbed Haleigh. But still not sure why he would bother to prop open the screen if (s)he's agile enough to manage carrying Haleigh and close the door behind him. And if he propped the wooden door open with the dirty clothes, why not just leave it open rather than risk making more noise?
Meant to say that I wish that Nancy had asked someone to let the wooden door clothes while the microphone was in the bedroom, just so we could hear from ourselves.

I want to know more about these sleeping arrangements. The family had only been living there for a few weeks, did they originally set Haleigh up in her own room or did they immediately when the moved in put the small bed in the master? And why? I would think Ron and Misty would want time to themselves; why have kids sleeping in the room with you?
And was it common knowledge that one or both kids slept in the master?

The screen door was propped open with a cinder block. No one has ever made it clear whether the wooden door was closed or open but both of them were unlocked. Either the door was left unlocked before the intruder came or he had a key to open it. There is the small possibility that he came in the front door with a key and opened the backdoor from inside. I can see anyone forgetting to lock a door every now and then.

Okay, wouldn't the wooden door have to be open for Misty to know that the screen door was propped open by the cinder block? And wouldn't it have to be a pretty big/heavy pile of laundry to hold the door open? That door looked substantial, but I suppose it could have been el cheapo hollow core.

I can't say for sure that I would call 911 right away. I would look inside and outside for awhile. Abduction probably wouldn't be on my mind. I woke up one morning and my car was not in the carport. It took me about 20 minutes to decide someone had stolen it.
I thought she initially said she could see the backdoor open from the kitchen plus she mentioned a brick. Maybe she wasn't very descriptive during the call. I don't know why a person would need either door propped open. I know I can carry a 40 lb kid in one arm and open and shut doors with the other

Family straightens up in Cummings home while others prepare to move vigil site
...Neves said family members missed a certain item while cleaning inside the Cummings home.
"There is something missing from the trailer that should be there," she said. "I don't know if it was taken for evidence or whoever took Haleigh took it."
The missing item belongs to Haleigh, she said.
"It's something that should always be there for her," she said.
Neves said she could not explain what the item was because of the ongoing investigation.
Shauland said he had no idea what Neves was talking about, when authorities removed items as evidence a receipt for each item was issued to the family.
"We turned the house back to them sometime last week," he said. "We've not had anything to do with the house since then."...

Woostock, my first guess would be medication, specifically growth hormone, but not sure Haleigh is old enough to be taking it?, and that doesn't make sense from the wording. It's something missing from the trailer, but not something that Haleigh needs. Unless, once again I just can't make heads nor tails of what's being reported.
It looks like if there is a medication, that would be part of the Amber Alert, for pharmacists to be on the lookout for someone attempting a refill. If it's a favorite doll or toy, it looks like that would have been put out there too. LE doesn't know what it is, so maybe Mrs. Neves will spell it out for them. Grr This family is exasperating, but I know they must be at the end of their ropes.

This is of their doing. they let that child down. What a shame..
At first I thought it might be meds but why wouldn't they just say that....
I have always thought Misty was among the missing the night Haleigh was taken but she is sticking to her story that she was sleeping. they creep me out......I see so much of this crap making HV and I want to scream. At least I have the HV for golden retriever rescue and if the applicants don't pass muster they don't get one!!! Too bad it's not the same for kids.....

The blanket that was freshly washed and that Misti put back over her once it was done being washed and dried.
That or given that Haleigh has Turner's Syndrome and Jr is known to have a heart murmur, it could have been like a monitor so that if she quit breathing at night it would go off.

Ah, I can see I'm not up to date, huh? Didn't get to watch last night, but isn't tonight the special on the doublewide? OK...........
What is missing out of that house that is Haleigh's???
I know and the grandma said there is always laundry back there so how did he get the door open anyways with laundry on the floor. Also he would have to step on the laundry. It looks like it's dirty outside so they would have footprints on the clothes, right?
Yes, and Misti going to the other bathroom has been so confused. I also do not like the sleeping arrangments. I understand sometime parents co-sleep but I find it odd that Misti already does.
She is just 17, I suppose this is the first time she has lived away from home? Even if it's in the same area, it's a different place, and momma and daddy aren't just down the hall. Perhaps, being just a kid herself, maybe SHE is afraid to sleep alone in a new place? So, with Ron working nights, perhaps she slept w/the kids until he got home.
I'm still wondering if the other bedrooms aren't set up for sleeping yet? (Sorry, wasn't home to watch, and still have a couple of days' catching up) I'd think Mr Macho man would want HIS room to be the master bedroom, so, do the kids sleep there w/Misti until he gets home, then the kids move? Or, seeing as there are several beds, do the kids sleep there, and when Ron gets home, he and Misti go to another room? The last option (that I can think of) would be for them all to sleep in the same room. And, since it is highly unlikely (IMO) that Ron and Misti "abstain" that would mean having sex with the kids lying right there, and that is downright sick!!! In fact, isn't sexual acts in the presence of a minor one of the charges against the former message board mod? Wonder what state that was in? If that is the arrangement they have, seems Ron could be charged with more than statutory rape. And, I guess Misti could be charged on the acts in front of kids, even tho she is just a kid?
She said she never got to the bathroom because she saw the light on in the kitchen. If Junior heard squeaky shoes, it's probably because many shoes squeak due to the inner and outer soles rubbing together. The wooden door won't slam if you don't let it.
The preacher who lived there previously said that the floors squeak...that may be what Jr heard, squeaky floors, and he tho't squeaky shoes. That is, if Jr really said anything about squeaky things.
In the question of sleeping arrangements--if the kids were moved to their rooms about 3am when Ron gets home from work, Haleigh might have been used to being picked up and carried to her bed. Maybe she just tho't it was daddy taking her to her room, so didn't wake up enough to know it wasn't him?

If she felt safer sleeping with the kids, I doubt if she will move back into that house now.

Good post Amy. That's probably exactly why she didn't make a fuss.
I can still hear Misty saying, "Why didn't they take me? What do they want with a little girl? I could have fought them." It seems that she is totally at a loss as to who took Haleigh and why. But after learning so much about liars in the A case, she could have been lying too. I feel so out of the loop with this case. Not a lot makes sense here.
Who ever took the child is connected to the family I think. It could not have been random. IMO

Don't remember if it was Mrs. Sykes or Mrs. Neves, but one of them commented that Haleigh wouldn't sleep in her room. Don't know if that was always the case, or only since they had moved.
Not a fan of "the family bed", and certainly not when intimate relations between an adult and a minor are going on.
At any rate, I find it harder and harder to believe that a stranger took this child. Even if someone was stalking Haleigh, it doesn't seem likely that he would have figured out the quirky back door, the odd layout of the trailer, or known where to find Haleigh

From what we've heard it does seem that the abductor wasn't a stranger. He came when Ronald was at work. He apparently had no fear of being shot by anyone in the house. He turned the light on which could mean he had no fear of them seeing and recognizing him. Haleigh made no noise, possibly because she thought there was no danger. It could be a young person that lives nearby and visits them often. Someone that they least suspect.
I know I can carry a 40 lb kid in one arm and open and shut doors with the other
I'm missing EVERYTHING since going to nights--work the night away, and sleep the day away. SO, does this mean that now, there was no brick? Because the first couple of days, @ least, A BRICK propped that back door open, according to their account (Misti and Ron.) TIA
I think I may be confused was the back door closed and the screen door opened
?
I don't know what door they may be talking about these days. But, the first couple of days, when Ron was talking to the press more, he emphasized the back door. Actually, today (from posts from the 6th) is the first I've been reading about screen or wooden doors. He insisted that, before he went to work, he always checked and locked that back door--the one no one used. Oh, except Misti on occasion. the deadbolt on that door that "his little child" could NOT have manipulated, could NOT have opened, but that night, it was open and there was A BRICK in the door. To me, that is the back door, cuz I don't know of any screen door that would be dead bolt locked.

There was no brick. Misti said brick but she was referring to a cinder block which was propping open the screen door. The wooden door was unlocked and may have been held open with dirty clothes or something. During the recent NG interview, the reporter opened the deadbolt and it didn't look very difficult. I think some children could open it.

Thanks. The way I was reading the posts, only clothes were holding the door open. I guess, not having read or heard about a screen door, I am getting confused. So, a cinder block (in these parts, it would be called a brick by most) was propping open the actual door (that would have had the deadbolt) and possibly a screen door held open by clothes. Got it. Two doors.
I think about Ron stating his little girl couldn't do this, wouldn't do that. Well, she's @ a kind of curious age. Each day a little kid figures out how to do something s/he wasn't able to do the day before. Like, climb on the cabinet, or open the door, etc. And, that doesn't mean the kid is trouble, or even ornery, just curious and experimenting to see what they are capable of doing.

The cinder block (which by contractor's standards would be concrete; completely different from a brick which is much smaller, weighs less and is made of clay and shale) was propping open the screen door. The wooden door, which sported a self-closing hinge and a dead bolt that appeared to be somewhat difficult for the producer to open, was apparently held open in some other manner (perhaps a pile of dirty clothes). Otherwise Misty wouldn't have been able to see that the screen door was wide open. Unless there is a new story.
Ron has stated that the back door was only in use when he washed his car and he double-checked it before work that day. So I wonder if he washed his car that day.
Misti said she goes out the back door to take out the trash.

Maybe you she never goes out that door. Perhaps she lied in hope that LE will consider the possiblity that she left the door unlocked.

It's so hard to tell with these folks if something like a statement about using the back door to take out the trash or wash the car means that it actually happened that day/night. And LE isn't saying anything, so it's hard to know who had access.
At any rate, it's hard to feel good about Where's Haleigh?
Some posters have suggested that both doors were propped open to facilitate carrying Haleigh. I see another possible reason. Maybe this was a person going through the neigborhood checking for unlocked doors in unlit houses. His plan was to steal things and sell them.
He tries the backdoor and finds it unlocked. He's aware that there may be someone in the house that could confront him. He wants a quick way out in case he has to run. He searches around the back yard and finds a cinder block which he uses to prop the screen door completely open. He also props the wooden door totally open.
He gets to the kitchen, turns the light on but no one is moving. He looks around in each room and when he sees Haleigh, he decides to take her.
He could be local or he could be someone just traveling through. A traveling burglar, sometime pedophile.

Haleigh's Father Pops Question to Teen Girlfriend
PALATKA, FL -- The father of Haleigh Cummings has asked his teenaged girlfriend to marry him.
Ronald Cummings, 25, popped the question to Misty Croslin Sunday night at Chili's, with several family members around them.
She said yes.
Outside the Putnam County Courthouse where Croslin and Cummings went Monday to get the paperwork for a marriage license, Croslin showed off her ring.
"Everybody's probably going to take this marriage thing the wrong way but it's not," said Croslin. "Everything's still focused on Haleigh. This is what Haleigh wanted. She's always talked about it."
Croslin said Haleigh even called her "mom."
Since Croslin is only 17, the paperwork has to be filled out by her parents...
http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/local/news-article.aspx?storyid=133274&catid=3
Yep, his priorities seem to be on the same track as what I think I would do.
1. Get on the tv @ every opportunity, begging for someone to bring your
2. Get a tatoo of both kids. An afternoon away from the prying eyes, something (pain?) to take his mind off the pain in his heart. Nothing more relaxing than a day in a tatoo parlor, getting punctured millions of times by those little needles. (That may be unfair of me to say, I'm not a tatoo type person, those who are might really think this was a logical move for him to make.)
3. Propose marriage to a teenager I have dated? for 5-6 months. That will keep all that conversation about age and statutory rape out of the equation, (because, if we're married, it's not rape, right? Her mom and dad have signed that it's okay.) Then, we can concentrate all our time and efforts in finding my little girl.

Or are they getting married so they can't testify against each other?
Valid question I think.
Or are they getting married so they can't testify against each other?
Valid question I think.
I'm not sure where to look this type of thing up. And, I guess each state, like in so many other things, has their own version. Anyway, there was a case in CA where this guy was the hitman to kill this rich widow. When things finally got to trial, this guy's wife could not (not would not, but could not) testify to things that happened, that he told her DURING the marriage, but anything before marriage or after divorce, she could testify about.
So, if this is a ploy to not testify against each other, it might not work, depending on FL laws, as they weren't married @ the time of the abduction. They can't even claim common law--don't know if common law is recognized in FL, but even if it is, co-habitation for 3 weeks doesn't constitute common law. I'm thinking, they don't qualify for common law, because they woudln't have to actually get married.
So, I wonder, do either of them have "counsel" that hasn't been made public? Or, perhaps, has taken advice of non-law educated individuals? Why make that move now? Or, heck, Ronald thinks 5-6 months of dating and 3 weeks of living together is long enough to KNOW that she is his soul mate, and they belong together. Maybe even a little kick in the face to Crystal--yeah, we lived together and had 2 kids together, but you notice I didn't love you enough to MARRY you, but, looky here---I'm gonna marry THIS one!!!

Shut yo mouth! Shouldn't Ron figure out how many children he has before he gets married and sires any more?
It's just hard to believe that these two can even be thinking about marriage at this point. Not sure where FL stands on marital privilege, but you have to wonder if that's what's behind the proposal. But how the hell can these two trust each other? And aren't the Croslins just a tiny bit concerned about the way Cummings raged and cursed their daughter?
Agree that the marriage would squelch the outcry about statutory rape.

JVM is dicussing the proposal and the exception to marital privilege is domestic violence. My interpretation would be that if whatever happened to Haleigh was at the hand of either Ron or Misty, neither would be protected from testifying against the other.
No idea if this is a decent site:

Jane seems to think it's not too odd; that maybe Cummings needs the comfort of marriage.

That makes perfect sense. Of course, I can see if there was ever any question, that some attorney would claim that Ron & Misty lived together as man and wife and should have the same privilege. Like common law marriage (which I have no idea exists in FL or not).

Ron is just such a wackoo who knows what he is up to. I wondered if Misty is preg.....I often think that we give a lot of lip service to protecting kids but we really don't. Maybe I am of that opinion given the cases I see but it really gets me down at times. There are so many scumbags out there just like these two and the kids who make it, make it in spite of the family not because of it.

UPDATE:
The Florida Statute of 2008 reads as follows:
90.504 Husband-wife privilege.--
(1) A spouse has a privilege during and after the marital relationship to refuse to disclose, and to prevent another from disclosing, communications which were intended to be made in confidence between the spouses while they were husband and wife.
(2) The privilege may be claimed by either spouse or by the guardian or conservator of a spouse. The authority of a spouse, or guardian or conservator of a spouse, to claim the privilege is presumed in the absence of contrary evidence.
(3) There is no privilege under this section:
(a) In a proceeding brought by or on behalf of one spouse against the other spouse.
(b) In a criminal proceeding in which one spouse is charged with a crime committed at any time against the person or property of the other spouse, or the person or property of a child of either.
(c) In a criminal proceeding in which the communication is offered in evidence by a defendant-spouse who is one of the spouses between whom the communication was made.
It is section (b) above that would be relevant--privilege does not apply if one spouse is charged with a crime against a child of either the husband or the wife.
So getting married wouldn't protect either one of them from being forced to testify against the other in a criminal proceeding. But chances are really good that isn't information that they know. Chances are really good, at least in my opinion that they are getting their information from non legally educated people.
That makes perfect sense. Of course, I can see if there was ever any question, that some attorney would claim that Ron & Misty lived together as man and wife and should have the same privilege. Like common law marriage (which I have no idea exists in FL or not).
When I was looking up stuff about common law marriage some years ago, I learned that certain things have to be in place to say you are common law. One of things (and I think this was no matter the state--and not all recognize common law) is that the couple has to live together (and some states had a length of time) but ALSO present themselves as a married couple. Such as, "this is my husband, Ron." Having a joint checking account. I can't remember all the things. But, I doubt very much that Ron says "my wife, Misti"--In fact, I think he refered to her as a f***** b****, or as his girlfriend. I think they have always said, boyfriend, girl friend.
AHA!!!! FL does not have common law marriage, however, they do recognize a common law marriage that was established in another state. So, that theory's out the window for Ron and Misti.

I guess she was just so surprised by the proposal that she didn't have time. Not bad. Dinner out and a ring all in one night. From a guy who can't afford to pay someone to move him out of Haleigh's home.
So where are the newlyweds going to live? Are they registered? Should we chip in a buy them a box springs?
(Sorry. I'm just pissed that IMO these two have such skewed (screwed) priorities.)
I think we should chip in for a matching set of his-n-her brass padlocks...if there's any $$ left over.....we should buy 'em some CLASS.
Getting engaged is TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL to Haleigh.

Just a thought; if the father suspects a certain someone, and feels that person has knowledge of Haleigh's whereabouts, could his off the wall actions, be his idea of trying to get them to fess up? And bring Haleigh Home!
A quote from LE still stands out to me 'we don't want to embarrass the family'
LE really needs to clear some of these people, as the weeks go on so does the speculation, week one it's Misty, next RSO, then Crystal, then Ronald, who's going to be the next suspect! JMO

If they can go thru a ceremony while this child is missing they are obv. alot more socially retarded than we thought or guilty as hay. MOO
ITA. If my child were missing, a marriage proposal and wedding would be the last thing on my mind.
Croslin's mother, Lisa Croslin, said, "They've been trying to get me to do this for five months now. And I told them you need to wait until you're 18. But now that everything's been going on and people have been trashing them, I'm going to let them do it. I know they love her...Haleigh, and they love each other."
Haven't they only been dating 6 months?? I feel sick for Haleigh...
I guess there are some girls so eager for marriage that, after knowing a fellow, or dating him for a month, they are eager to marry that guy without looking @ all the choices (in men, in education, in careers) that are available to them.
...Misty Croslin said if Haleigh were home, she would be thrilled about the engagement...
http://www.news4jax.com/news/18890273/detail.html#
http://i40.tinypic.com/24zhh54.jpg
That reminds me of Sirhan Sirhan....."If RFK were alive today, HE'D want me to be paroled!"
If Haleigh were home, she might be "thrilled" w/the engagement--actually more like, caught up in whatever emotions the adult people around her are showing. Because I don't think a 5 y/o really understands engagement and marriage.
LOL One2...love your little grammar cop.
So...am I the only one who thinks True Love isn't the real reason Ron would propose to the girl who wasn't watching very carefully when his daughter was taken and then lied 3 or 4 times about what happened that night.
Or am I just being cynical?
I wish I could put my finger on all the hinky around those two. I think they both know exactly what happened to Haleigh and this Perfect Union is because he must believe she can't be forced to testify against him. But testify WHAT? She seems to know more than he does or why else would she have several stories for that night?
I see y'alls interesting info that he's wrong about her not being able to testify against him, but I think it's got to be the reason he proposed.
I was wondering the other day if either had a lawyer who would be guiding them on this---probably not. Probably just the kin folk sitting around talking and thinking this would take care of testifying. And, I don't know the laws in FL, about testifying or not because they are currently married.
And, you know, all this hoopla now about tatoos and engagement rings and wedding licenses takes the focus off the reason anyone one in the world even knows these folks---Haleigh is missing. Oh, yeah, I guess there HAS been MENTION of Haleigh--she'd be thrilled, she loves Misti and calls her mom (after 5-6 months?) and we want her to come home. I notice Misti and her mom @ least remember that Haleigh has a name!!!!
Cynical? You? Nah....................
Honestly? My first thought is that she is pregnant. WTH else would Someone do this at a time like this? Better yet, HOW could they? Maybe they think that, if Haleigh is alive, and she hears they are getting married, she would try to make her abductors bring her home in time for the wedding!!!

Someone "donated" the $400 tattoo, maybe folks are bringing them cigs, and maybe the ring is a family heirloom? :chicken: Or, someone donated the money for him to get it? Maybe they are waiting for someone to pony up to pay for the move, too.

Us Vermonter's have this saying, "If you can't feed em, don't breed em" It has now been a month and no sign of this child because she is dead and probably was killed hours after her death. As for Ron and Misti getting hitched, what can you expect out of trash like this? Dog and Beth Chapman's daughter Barbara Katie was killed the day before their wedding and they wanted to cancel it, but their children urged them to go through with it because Barbara would have wanted it that way so they went ahead but with heavy hearts. This loser not only does he get engaged to a dumb twit that mind you, was responsible for taking care of his young children and one is now missing, he gets a tattoo to boot, makes him even more trashier than I thought. I am beginning to wonder if maybe they murdered the child themselves and they are marrying so they don't have to testify against each other. And today I read where they have to move form the park because they are in violation of some law, whereas tents and RV's can't be in the park longer than 14 days and you know he is gonna expect some sucker to give them a new place to live, shoulda saved that $400, that is a security deposit on another crappy trailer in another crappy trashy park. I am betting Misti is already knocked up, this trash breeds like cockroaches and her Mother looks like she was probably 12 when she gave birth and here she is, the beaming momma of the bride to be, wonder if she will buy some teeth for the occasion?? Ron is such a catch!! But why not? Crystal hooked up with another loser and had to have another kid rather than fight for the two she had already calved out. I feel for Junior and the other girl, being raised by this gutter trash and HC, I hope truly she is still alive, but I have serious doubts.

I'll raise everyone's cynicism, judgments and harshness, and see you bitter commentary. These people seem to be doing just about the opposite of what "normal" people (meaning us!) would do in this situation. They need therapy and family counseling. I don't see Ron & Misty taking steps in a positive direction here. In fact, maybe the opposite. Making such a huge decision at such a catastrophic time in their lives? Whack. Just whack.
Did NG have anything to say about this last night (I missed about half an hour)? The attorney(s) and shrink(s) on JVM thought the engagement was ill-timed, to say the least. I suppose Nancy might not allow discussion of the topic since she seems to think the media has been too rough on Cummings. Like she should talk. *cough* Melinda Duckett *cough*
Still cannot believe that the Croslins would let Misty marry that lying SOB considering that he mislead them about his age, has a record (that is unexplainable in itself), has all the earmarks of a pedophile, doesn't have a place to live, doesn't seem to work anymore, and publicly disparaged their daughter practically blaming her for whatever happened to Haleigh despite the fact that it was his decision to leave her in charge of his children Junior and What'sHerName.
Oh yeah, Ron. It's H-a-l-e-i-g-h. Haleigh.

Well if that is what Haleigh would want, then why don't they wait till she comes home to do so? Do they know that she won't be coming home? And that tattoo just irks me to no end. Sometimes people get them to remember a loved one that has died so I am now wondering why he did do this? I was reading posts on Coastnews and these people are not very popular, most people think like we all do, hillbilly trash whose lifestyle is a factor in this case and now he wants to marry this dumb broad, the one he called a dumb b!tch on the 911 tape, they should call CMT and get on Redneck Weddings, they would steal the show. And I don't have any sympathy for Crystal either, she did not even try to get custody of the two kids, instead, easier to just get knocked up again and now I read where she now has a publicist too?? She does not want to deal with the media anymore, and while I don't want her to be a cameraho like the Ants, it is vital to talk to the media, they are out there getting this story out and putting pictures on their shows of the child.
As for Ron, I can't believe in the midst of this precious child who may or may not have been taken by some low-life they know, he just wants to marry that dumb twit! WTF!!! I have not seen him out searching for the kid in weeks, all he cares about now is this dumb broad who was the last one to see his child alive and I swear you guys, she was not in that home when that child was taken and I hope LE is not buying the story. Posters on Coastnews have expressed the same, everyone has seen the layout of the home and the doors, the NOISY DOORS, it don't add up. It has been a month and this poor child I fear is dead and like I said probably became some sex toy for some POS no one knows about and he scoped out the home, he saw just how easy it would be to snap her and Misti might as well have let him come right in.

Tiffany Session's dad says he thinks the ring was Ron's grandma's. He says that you just can't go into the mind of someone who is going through what Ron is, and we shouldn't judge. When his daughter disappeared 20 years ago, at the 30 day point, he hit a wall ~ I guess by then you know chances are nil.....
He says maybe it was a momentarily happy moment in all this , hence the decision.
Seems Misty has known Ron since she's 14 (;)) and they were planning this a long time ago.

And, for someone to not only give us a place to move, but pay for the move, you know I've just NOT been able to work since "my daughter" was taken." Maybe he would also lift his pant leg to show again the tattoo of his daughter so everyone will know what she looks like. (puke, puke, puke!!!!!)

Nancy poked and prodded, didn't she? Looks like Kim has a lot of catching up to do with all that paperwork!
I found it interesting that she did admit there are 'grave' concerns over Jr and Haleigh (when she comes home :rose:) being cared for by a teenager. Saying it's not the first time, does that include Crystal herself being a teen mother? Kinda like the teapot calling the kettle black!
Her work is cut out for her, IMO, and this is really going to be a confusing and messed up time for Jr. to continue living.
It was discussed here that both Ron and Crystal should have atty's to guide them with all this ~ guess he never thought this would be happening, at least not now.
Sad.

OS, I think the court records showed about 50-60 entries for Crystal and Ron's case re: custody, paternity, injunctions, etc., so I guess it would take some time to get up to speed. I got the impression KP spent the day in Satsuma talking to family, police, neighbors, and whoever else, and she included LE when she said that there are concerns about Junior's safety. I can totally understand that if Crystal is convinced that Cummings' dealings or standard of living has something to do with Haleigh's disappearance, that Junior could be in danger too.
I guess the only thing that keeps me from thinking that Crystal is being hypocritical about the teenage girlfriend slash babysitter, is that when Crystal was that age, they were her own kids that she was taking care of. I am curious about what was meant by not the first time or however it was worded, and if that's a reference to Cummings' other "possible" child.
I thought it was funny that Nancy asked why Crystal needed an attorney, and then boom! was on the attack. She didn't care why Crystal would want or need an attorney, she just wanted to rag and nag. No big surprise there!

Yes, that was definately an 'open mouth insert foot' moment. She was just going for a sarcastic, sensationalized moment. She should have known better.
One thing that's bothering me a bit, is that Misty is seemingly skipping happily around, smiling about the engagement ~ forgetting what's swirling around about her ....Haleigh's dissappearance. While Ron, is walking 7 feet in front of her, morose and preoccupied...( he's not even paying attention to her), even when they walked into the courthouse to get the license. Did you see that video? She is way too immature, but there's something more, and I just can't put my finger on it...I just don't get these people.

Missing girl’s father to

SATSUMA, Fla. - The father of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings is expected to marry his younger girlfriend Thursday afternoon, but the couple is already facing some problems finding someone to marry them.
Jamey Watts, a funeral director, was set to marry the couple but his notary status expired. Then, they were going to get a pastor from Watts church to wed them, but the pastor is doing military reserve training and is unavailable.
Statement from Dunns Creek Baptist Church:
To Whom It May Concern:
There is no wedding scheduled to take place at Dunns Creek Baptist Church on Thursday, March 12, 2009. Pastor Terry Wright is out of town and the other full time pastors (David Dixon & Chad Perry) are not performing a wedding today. Please retract any announcements you have made regarding the Cummings / Croslin wedding taking place at Dunns Creek Baptist Church.

New ground search Thursday
Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies are conducting another ground search to find the missing girl but say the search is not a result of a tip. Investigators are searching from U.S. 17 to Paradise Shores in Crescent City. They said they are searching the highway about 30 yards on each side.

There's been a poster on some other boards claiming to be a member of the family, and we know that several of the clan uses the computer because they have myspace pages. It wouldn't surprise me if they read about the case and are aware of public opinion. Whether or not they give a rat's patootie or not is a whole nuther thing.

Dad Gets Married Today As Haleigh Search Resumes
About 100 Look In Woods For Cummings Girl
SATSUMA, Fla. -- Investigators again are searching woods on Thursday morning looking for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings - on the day her father plans to marry the teen-ager who was with Haleigh when she disappeared.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said it has about 100 deputies searching along U.S. Highway 17 north of Crescent City. The area has not been searched in the past, although an earlier news release said it had been.
The family told WESH 2 News that Ronald Cummings, 25, is scheduled to marry 17-year-old Misty Croslin at 4 p.m. The ceremony will be at the Dunn's Creek Baptist Church in the town of San Mateo, which is just north of Satsuma.
Cummings asked Croslin to marry him on Sunday night at Chili's in Palatka. Croslin was sleeping in the home she shared with Cummings on the night Haleigh disappeared one month ago.
The sheriff's office said today's search "is not the result of information received, but is being conducted as one more step in the continuing search for Haleigh."

I am very curious as to why cadaver dogs are being used and I read somewhere else that LE had removed and taken the back door as well. Wondering if LE has had a lead come in or a tip or maybe even if there has been a result of some of the evidence that has come back that they didn't have before.

I guess they decided they wanted to try one of those red herring thingies--throw people off the track. Like, no one is going to check out the location, lol!!! You can better believe there will be those who will have their eye on Ron and/or Misti and follow them to wherever they go. Maybe not everyone, but I'm betting SOMEONE will find them--of course, they might be enjoying the media attention enough to make it easy to be followed.
I'm sure I would be able to concentrate on my wedding vows, being able to put aside the fact that there has just been a search for my missing daughter, and not knowing the outcome of that search. I guess we can expect nothing was found, else that would be all over the 'net and tv stations and even supercede the wedding.
I didn't read any details about the wedding, except it was to be in a secret location. I wonder, did they write their own vows? That would be a hoot to read, I'd bet. Wonder if they mention Haleigh (the missing daughter who would have LOVED that they are getting married, but they couldn't wait for her to be a part of it.) Well, Misti might mention Haleigh. I would imagine Ron would mention his daughter, his baby.

Old Soul - I think you put your finger on what's bothered me from day ONE. SHE is one showing all the emotion and telling all the stories, and based on the 911 call where he appears to be having her make the calls, I wonder if SHE has something on HIM and the engagement/marriage is her way of promising to keep her mouth shut about what he may have done. Just saying...
How sweet!!! An all-expense paid trip to the Big Apple, as long as they show up for the TODAY show. (Puke big time, I think I will be sleeping.) Wonder if they will take in the sights while they are there? The Empire State building, the Statue of Liberty, Greenwich Village (isn't that in NYC?) Wonder if they will get pocket money to pick up souvenirs, or if they will have to provide their own money for that?

Shame on Today if they are providing a honeymoon for these two. And especially if they are billing them as a honeymoon couple NOT as a bereaved father searching for his Haleigh.
Ron can't do a local spot to bring awareness to Haleigh's disappearance to be shown on Today? He has to fly to NYC? Really?
Well, congrats NBC. You're probably responsible for speeding up the dwindling support for the family.

6-hour search for Haleigh Cummings turns up empty
SATSUMA - More than 100 law-enforcement officials spent six hours today combing a 12-mile grassy stretch along U.S. Highway 17 just north of Crescent City, searching for any clues regarding the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings.
Putnam County sheriff's Capt. Dick Schauland said nothing was found that would help find the missing 5-year-old girl.
Haleigh was last seen by her father's girlfriend, Misty Croslin, 17, at about 10 p.m. Feb. 9. Misty told investigators she woke up about 3:30 a.m. Feb. 10 and Haleigh was missing.
Also, according to the Putnam County clerk of the courts office, Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, and Croslin on Monday applied for a marriage license that went into effect Thursday. The couple has until May 10 to get married. Earlier today, television stations were reporting that the couple planned to marry today. Later this afternoon, WFTV.com reported the wedding did not happen. The Orlando Sentinel could not immediately confirm those reports.
In today's search, investigators are slowly walking along the grassy area about 30 yards off each side of the highway between Buffalo Bluff Road and Paradise Shores Road just north of Crescent City, according to Putnam sheriff's Lt. Johnny Greenwood.
Greenwood said the search is not being conducted because of any new tips or leads in connection to Haleigh's disappearance...

Thank You! I didn't know that about the Atkins bars. I did the Atkins diet. It worked great, but I got tired of living without my pasta, bread and potatoes. It did beat the low fat no fat diets alright! I do love my meats, fish, salads and cheeses so it was very good, even at restaurants. The problem was when the waiter came with the bread basket and poppa would say, no, no bread. And I would say, well one piece isn't going to hurt, so leave it and again, poppa would say, no, don't put it on the table and I would say, LEAVE IT!!!! I WANNA LOOK AT IT! ;)
Atkins made me lose too much weight actually, so I rationalized and thought, hmmm, I can eat pasta, I can eat bread and I can eat potatoes. So I did. And I gained it all back. Anyway I'm going to be a big fat nawny. More to love. :)
lol :D pappa & bread...i wonder how oats in your meatloaf, instead of bradcrumbs, would be :then you can have fiber in your meatloaf sandwhiches..
ok,i think i am caught up & i have to say one thing...the minute i heard they were engeged, the only thought that popped in my head was,he is trying to find ways to keep jr.

Okay so wouldn't you hide or RIGHT AWAY call 911 if you saw the back door wide open like Misti said it was in the 911 tapes (Misty Croslin: “Hi…umm…I just woke up…and our backdoor was wide open and I think…and I can’t find our daughter”),Instead she waits awhile. I would be scared out of my mind and checking on JR and loCking ourselves in the room.
In the call it makes it sound like both were proped open. If thats the case then why would you prop it open with laundry, why not with the cinder block. You can tell there are 2 doors. Unless you knew there would be laundry to help keep it proped? JMO
this is one of the many** things ,that make me start to think misty may be the one who will be arrested...if the back door is open & haleigh is gone, why isn't she afraid for jr. or herself?..she waits on the front porch for ron?...
she tries to blame someone else- joe- the cinderblock crime cousin... i don't see anyone else in this case blaming anyone...everyone seems to repeat things, as facts, that i think she may be telling them...like TN...did TN hear haleigh say she wanted them to marry or jr., or is this something misty says...& if it is true,is misty the one who put the idea in haleigh's & or jr's head?
taking the door:
is le going to show the grand jury, how the door has to be propped open with clothes, or cinderblock,on the other door???

NG was on, but I wasn't WATCHING, watching the show. I was quite surprised that Ron said "Haleigh" during some interview (I am supposing recent.) I was thinking, maybe someone who reads the boards has mentioned to him that people find it odd that he never speaks her name, and maybe he is trying to make sure he does. Then, I got to thinking--nah, who of them seem to be message board groupies to read this? AND, he seems to be the type that he would say HE)) with all those people, and never speak her name again in defiance of what people "think" of him.
was it yesterday,or tuesday,i'm so confused..it was the press conference, where they had a spokesman & the reward went to 35,000 & he wore sunglasses.that is the first time, i heard him say haleigh.and i did wonder if he read loretta's posts & everyone & wondered why he is reading a message board or if someone is telling him, what people are saying....& misty also, b/c she keeps giving explanations for why this & that & knows people think it's wrong, but does it anyway...

And does Nancy really, really think that because Crystal isn't the custodial parent that she doesn't love Haleigh? Men lose custody battles all the time and people don't venture to assume that they don't care about their children.

From Cummings' record, it doesn't look like he was ever convicted of anything. And mabye that's something that Picazio needs to look at. If he is an informant, that could put Junior at risk (and obviously could be the cause of whatever happened to Haleigh).

you had me at bethany..the marshall just rolled right out ..i couldn't concentrate & will watch at 10 & or 1 am...(oh 8 minutes.. but that was 45 minutes into the show).i do not know what ng is thinking.. she isn't acting normal.. no one is acting right.
if he is an informant, i hope they don't put that in the public records, for the world to see.

#5. if that 9000.00 hospital bill was real & he stopped paying insurance or something, on the children...i would get to the bottom of that...i don't know if crystal couldn't afford to pay the support or if she knew he would spend the money on tattoos or drugs,or himself, instead of the children...or if she has a good reason.
i don't understand the entire insurance situation...if they had medicaid , do they also have a 2nd insurance.can you have a secondary ins???

I've forgotten everything that I used to know about Medicaid, and it's probably changed since I used to deal with it anyway.
There is no reason whatsoever for Crystal to have neglected to pay the child support, and from the amount that was in the filing for contempt, it looks like she has never paid it, and that might very well go against her in her pursuit of custody.
It could be that neither Crystal nor Ron should have custody of either child.

Thanks guys, I knew I could count on you to make me feel better!! I am doing this because I want to live longer and feel better. It has been a journey, I must have seen 30 doctors and today was the final hurdle, a six hour nutrition class where I learned about the steps I am about to embark on. I weigh 211 and should weigh about 120, I started packing on weight when I got sick and not feeling good on a regular basis I lapsed into the laying on the couch, eating and drinking gallons of Pepsi and just gave up on myself for the last 8 years, until I looked at pictures of me from 20 years ago at Cape Cod, looking styling, healthy, happy, about 114 lbs, and if anyone had told me back then I would be retired, living on SS, sick and in MI, I would have thought they were crazy! I was very athletic, hiking, biking, motorcross, 4-wheeling, fishing and boating and I hope to gain back some of these activities except maybe the motorcross! I have been on a pre-op diet where I can only eat one meal a day, lean meat and steamed veggies, sugar free drinks, and protein shakes. I lost 11 lbs since last week alone! The hardest part, the Pepsi addiction!! I love that stuff but now I can no longer ever drink any again, it would blow out my new stomach, I joked to the support group last month that I might have to go to detox!! But as the days have passed, I am not missing it as bad as I thought I would! But that Crystal Light tastes like 5 day old nasty ass Kool-aid and today I found out I can lose that and I can drink some of the flavored waters
After surgery, i will not be able to eat any solid food for about 4 weeks. Just waters and the protein powders and I found one at Walmart that tastes pretty good. I also am on a heavy duty vitamin regiment as with no lean proteins like meat, I need to compensate for that. Today there were 10 of us that are now in our own support group as the new kids on the block all scheduled within the next week or so for surgery and we are a hell of a group!!! We all have good senses of humor and I feel very comfortable with them! We did weigh in today and I was the smallest! One guy is 625 lbs, and his wife is about 450, another woman is so huge, she weighs 700lbs, has been unable to walk for years, she has the biggest wheelchair I have seen, her legs are so big, you can't tell where the rest of her is, like one big blob, I feel for this sister big time! I need to lose 100 lbs, she needs to lose 600! I plan on being her buddy system because behind all that flesh is a brain!
Another guy is about 500 and three of them are over 300 and I felt like Twiggy! And they have not started their pre-op diet yet so it was up to me to tell them how I feel and I said well it sucks, I feel so hungry, but my stomach is the size of a football, afterward about the size of an egg so it won't be as bad and my take is this. If you don't think you can handle the pre-op, maybe you need to re-think surgery. So I will be in the hospital from the 17th to the 19th. I have nurses coming in to help me for about two weeks and family and friends are also pitching in like housework and what-not.
As for this trash here, WTF! It is almost like they feel HC is not coming back doesn't it? If they thought people were putting them down before, it will be a s*it storm of disgust and after I watch these losers on the Today, too bad they don't have a call-in like NG, I plan on sending the show a nasty Wind gram and like we know they don't pay for interviews, was it not them that bought all the Caylee and Casey pictures for $200,000??? Even more now I feel this child is dead and I am wondering how much they really play into it. I am pleasantly surprised by Crystal's lawyer, sounds she is gonna be a bulldog, and while I think C is trash too, she is a step above "honeymooners" and she feels that Junior is in danger then CPS needs to step in and take him, but before they send him to live with her, she needs to be totally cleared, and I think her concern is a little too late. She does not even KNOW Misti till the day HC comes up missing, she did not fight too hard for custody, and she of all people knows what a record he has, she knows his rage, and more allegations of physical abuse came up tonight, and can I see Ron wailing on the kids? HELL YEAH!
It is either a SO or it someone this trash knows that has taken the child and what is up with Putnam CO? They now take the door?? I hope this dept knows what they are doing, I still am thinking landfill and I have not heard one word whether they ever searched it ,and today they conduct another ground search and where is this child's Daddy? Getting hitched to the piece of trash, the last one to see this child alive, with inconsistent stories, and ya gotta wonder what PC thinks of this???? I have not seen his ass conducting any searches, but gets all pissed off when Geraldo gets in his face and asks him honest questions, like his record??? I have not seen him since about the first week doing anything, his mother has done more to find this child then he has, at least, she is keeping hope alive. If that twit is not knocked up, she will be, lose one, calve out another one, that is their game plan. And I just about puked seeing the video where he gets down on bended knee, who does he think he is Prince William? Yeah, in that trash mentality, he must be a catch. He did have a job, I don't suppose he has been back there, he appears to have all his teeth, that is as good as it gets to a bimbo that has a third grade education and her mama? Please! Wonder if she bought teeth for the occasion?? Would you let your 17 year old daughter hook up with a loser with two kids and a record a mile long and who is EIGHT YEARS OLDER? NOT!!! "OH I was gonna sign for them when she turned 18, but now, I will let her get hitched" Ignorance is not BLISS!!!!

Backyard Wedding for Haleigh's Father and Teen Bride
WELAKA, FL -- It's a day they say they've been waiting for. Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, and his new bride Misty, tied the knot Thursday afternoon in an outdoor ceremony in Welaka.
"She was a beautiful bride," said Annette Sykes, the great-grandmother of the missing five-year-old girl.
We spoke with Sykes shortly after the wedding. The ceremony took place in the backyard of her home.
"It was something bright and happy for a change," said Sykes. "The happiest thing would be if Haleigh were to come home. But, they plan on when Haleigh comes home to have a big church wedding, and she can be the flower girl."
The family spent the day preparing for the wedding, from the flowers to the wedding cake. Sykes says this was something the couple had always planned to do, and it's what Haleigh wanted.
"They got married because they love one another. It's time for something happy to happen."
For now that's what this day is to them, something good, as they wait for Haleigh to come home.
"After weeks and weeks of Haleigh being gone, plus all of the trashing that Ronald took, it's just time for something good, just time for something good," said Sykes.
Sykes says the couple was married by a notary public with only close family members present. She says the location of the ceremony was finalized late Wednesday night.
The couple flew to New York City to appear on The Today Show on NBC Friday morning, right after Good Morning Jacksonville. Sykes says they will also use that time for their honeymoon.
Ronald Cummings' son will stay with his mother through the weekend while the couple is away.
Call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS if you have any information about Haleigh Cummings. You will remain anonymous and could receive a reward. The reward in the search for Haleigh is now at $35,000.

Ron&Misty make me ill. Dozens of men spent the day looking for Haleigh and he's the next town over getting married instead of handing out bottled water to the searchers and personally thanking them. According to Mrs. Neves, he and Misty never had time for a wedding before because of work. Hellllllooooo No time off on the weekends, or during the day when he worked the night shift? Now is the first chance they've had? Oh okay. One thing's right; he doesn't go to work anymore. Hell, if I wasn't going to go out and comb the countryside for my child, I'd prefer to be at work rather than sitting around some tent smoking cigarettes all day.
Can you imagine Junior standing there with them at the makeshift altar trying to understand what's going on? And that some day he (and hopefully Haleigh) will wonder why Haleigh wasn't there? Oh, they've bought a flower girl dress for her. Something tells me the next dress she's in will be for her own funeral. And something tells me they know it.
Regardless of whatever faults Crystal has, these Ron's people have a lot of gall to continually say that now Haleigh has a new mommy. So much bullsh!t.

. This is not right. What made this guy put this on his fricken truck?
IMO, the court of public opinion should have no bearing on what he says and does. Bottom Line ~ He only has to answer to himself, no matter what we all think.
Is this his way of making a roundabout comment regarding his marriage? Is this his way of commenting on his love of teenage girls?

i don't understand the entire insurance situation...if they had medicaid , do they also have a 2nd insurance.can you have a secondary ins???
I don't understand how they could, but it seems @ least some years ago, it was possible. We had 2 beef packing plants. Now, no matter your position in these plants, you made pretty darn good money. We had a tyke in NICU--the parents both worked in the plants--one in each. So, there were TWO insurances listed PLUS Medicaid!!! I asked the social worker how that could be and she said, well, they must qualify financially. IIRC, they didn't have a boat load of kids (this was maybe 3 or 4) so, I never understood how they could have 2 good incomes, 2 insurances (and the insurance thru the plants were GOOD insurances) and still get Medicaid. Don't know if it's possible today.

A tattoo. An engagement ring. Dinner @ chuckee cheese with bended knee proprosal. Or, was it Olive Garden? A flower dress for Haleigh to wear to a church wedding after she comes home. AND a big ol' etching on the window of his pickem up. (Mighty fine, late model to boot.)
Words escape me. Wonder how much was spent that they could have used for something like, finding another place to live, or the move itself Ronald wants someone to do and pay for.

I read somewhere that Cummings also has some sort of plate or decal on the front of his truck that says something like "you'll always be daddy's little girl", but haven't found a picture of it yet.
So, did anyone see The Today Show? Were the Cummingses canoodling? Were Misty's fingernails clean? Did Ron actually say Haleigh's name?
Well, they done the deed...
http://www.wftv.com/news/18915611/detail.html
PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Ronald Cummings and Misty Croslin married Thursday, (See Proposal Photo). They tied the knot in Haleigh's great-grandmother's backyard. The couple flew to New York for a short honeymoon.
Haleigh's father was not involved in Thursday's search for her because of the wedding. Haleigh Cummings has been missing for one month. She was taken from her home in Satsuma in Putnam County.
Officers from a half-dozen agencies set out on foot Thursday to search a new area south of Haleigh's home in Satsuma, through thick brush and sometimes dangerous terrain. One deputy nearly had a run in with a rattlesnake.
"We're just out there looking for anything that would possibly give us a clue," said Lieutenant Dale Bryant of the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. etc.
Aww, Danagher, how cute! They share your anniversary! ich.
Interesting--in the video (mid story) of "Haleigh's father proposes" the reporter says authorities say Misti passed a lie detector test. Think he misspoke on that? The last I read, authorities had not confirmed nor denied that anyone passed a lie detector test.
And, as they are going into the restaurant (I guess that is where they are going) as she sees the cameras, Misti gives a big ol' wave just before they go behind a column. (Wonder who tipped media off as to where they would be? Hmmm?)

I came home, turned on the tv and computer--and fell asleep!!! When I woke up briefly, I was channel surfing, and came upon the TODAY show--but it was in the last 10 minutes or so, so missed the whole darn thing!!! (Thank goodness, cuz I fell back asleep and could have had nightmares!!!!)

Still missing, Haleigh has a new stepmom
Misty Cummings ‘doesn’t know’ why her account of disappearance changed
The last person to see a 5-year-old Florida girl before she went missing — who is also the new teenage bride of the child’s father — acknowledged that there are inconsistencies in the stories she’s told investigators, but was unable to say why her account has changed.
On Friday, TODAY’s Meredith Vieira asked 17-year-old Misty Cummings — nee Misty Croslin — if she knows that she changed the story of the night Haleigh Cummings disappeared.
“Yeah,” the young woman said.
Vieira asked why there are inconsistencies.
“I don’t know,” she replied...

Am I just guessing or were they unable to find a church to hold the ceremony and a minister to perform the ceremony? Oh, I forgot! The big church wedding will be held when Haleigh comes back. JMO, MOO
“Why come here?” Vieira asked both.
I don't suppose either of them said, hey, let's go to NYC for a honeymoon while people are out searching for "my daughter." I would suppose, Vieira, that they came to NYC and the TODAY show because some producer invited them, and the network provided the money for travel and motel expenses. But, that's just MY guess, Vieira.
“To get the focus back on my daughter. My 5-year-old girl is gone and I want to find her,” Ron Cummings, 25, replied. He complained that his marriage to the former Misty Croslin has deflected attention away from his daughter, who has been missing since early in the morning of Feb. 10.
You expected WHAT? Ronald? That no one would notice you are getting married whilst strangers are conducting a search for "my daughter" who really DOES have a name--HALEIGH!!!!!
Cummings and his bride say they’ve both taken and passed polygraph tests. NBC News’ Michelle Kosinski reported that Ron Cummings is not considered a suspect in the disappearance, and Cummings told Vieira that the lead detective in the case has told him that Misty is not a suspect either.
Whatever happened to--no one has been ruled out as a suspect (paraphrased)???? I see the LDT comment does not include that authorities have confirmed people passing. Perhaps Ronald doesn't read the news articles, or listen to the video information.
So, she didn't like the new investigator--who seemed not to be up on the case with his questions? Uhmm....just a new guy, Misti, who isn't going to be nice when you are inconsistent in your comments, or pushes that you explain those inconsistencies.
"So I run back to my bedroom to get my phone to call Ronald. That’s when I noticed Haleigh was gone.”
Version #4--that she was going for her phone when she noticed Haleigh was gone.
“I think that my little girl would have wanted it,” he said before repeating his belief that his wedding shouldn’t be a story.
“That’s still drawing the focus off of Haleigh,” he said. “We need to be focused on Haleigh.
WHO is drawing the focus off Haleigh? Not the media, they aren't the ones to come up with an inopportune wedding. They are just reporting what is happening. What does his personal life have to do with national TV? Come on, Ronald. Do you think you would have been sitting on the TODAY show today, to focus on "my daughter" if you hadn't just gotten married? (Don't forget, Ronald--she has a NAME--it's HALEIGH.)
What a hoot!!! Interesting t-shirt. Couldn't see the whole thing, and was wondering if it was a find Haleigh shirt--confirmed by the article. "YOU SEEN MY DAUGHTER?" Well, I must admit "YOU SEEN MY" is all that I could see. Am just guessing it was daughter or child or baby. Good grammar, way to go.

IMO, the court of public opinion should have no bearing on what he says and does. Bottom Line ~ He only has to answer to himself, no matter what we all think.
Is this his way of making a roundabout comment regarding his marriage? Is this his way of commenting on his love of teenage girls?
The money would have been better spent with wording to the effect of:
Hayleigh, We Love and Miss You, doodlebug...Come Home Soon Baby.
<<sigh>>
Did Ron have this on his pickup before Haleigh disappeared or is this something new?

There are special circumstances, such as catastrophic illness, where you can qualify for Medicaid. I know that my step-grandson did when he had lekemia. His dad made an excellent salary and had good insurance also. The medicaid convered what the insurance didn't and paid after the insurance ran out.

Sorry, I just couldn't make myself watch the interview part. So, the wedding site was a secret--but it sure seems they got someone from the media there to cover it. Wonder which lucky reporter was "the one" who got to go? Gosh, she was lucky to find a wedding dress on such short notice. And, his tux (cough) was stunning!!! @ least he covered up the saggy, illfitting wife beater shirt for the ceremony itself. Well, guess he will surely have time to find a more appropriate outfit for the big church wedding they will have when Haleigh comes home. :chicken:

Okay, so which is it? Passed the polygraph or a liar?
>>his belief that his wedding shouldn’t be a story.
“That’s still drawing the focus off of Haleigh,” he said. “We need to be focused on Haleigh and not what I’m doing in my personal life … It’s nobody’s business what I do in my personal life. I go to work. I support my family.
Goddamnit man, getting married is what is taking the focus off Haleigh; NOT the reporting of the oh so secret nuptials and wedding location. You work? You support your family? Let's see your last time card. Is it not dated 2/9/09?
Am I just guessing or were they unable to find a church to hold the ceremony and a minister to perform the ceremony? Oh, I forgot! The big church wedding will be held when Haleigh comes back. JMO, MOO
I don't know if they looked @ any churches other than the one first mentioned as where the wedding was going to take place. I wonder to whom the email from the pastor(s) was sent...the one that says that church (or its pastors) do not approve of this union. Maybe they didn't look for another church, figuring they didn't have a chance. I know, most places, around here anyway, before pastors agree to perform a wedding ceremony, there has to be some sessions with the pastor about marriage and stuff. In the Catholic churches, around here, they have to go thru premarital classes.
Wonder, if the counseling or classes are what prevented a church ceremony, are they going to start going to them now, or are they going to wait until Haleigh comes home, then get around to qualifying for a church ceremony? I guess they would wait--if Haleigh doesn't show up, they don't have to go thru w/the church wedding. Be a shame to waste their time on counseling if she doesn't show up (or doesn't show up alive.)
There are special circumstances, such as catastrophic illness, where you can qualify for Medicaid. I know that my step-grandson did when he had lekemia. His dad made an excellent salary and had good insurance also. The medicaid convered what the insurance didn't and paid after the insurance ran out.
Thanks. The majority of the type of babies we care for just have the NICU bill, which, in most cases is completely covered by just the one insurance that most of our families have (of those that have insurance, that is ;) ) Can't remember that this little one had more than the usual preterm or respiratory distress, but I could be wrong.

If I were Crystal, I would be making VERY sure that Ron and Misty KNEW that my children had one mother and that was ME. There would be no question that they would be teaching those children to call Misty "Mommy" as long as I had breath in my body.
If she wants someone to call her "Mommy", let her have her own kids!
You know, maybe I'm cynical, but when I heard there were searchers out yesterday I just kept thinking how awful it would be if they found Haleigh's body while Ron and Misty were getting married. Wouldn't that be something to remember on your aniversary? JMO, MOO

The video references that the pastors of the church do not agree with this union; the reason for the civil ceremony.
Okay, it looks like the reporter is there in Satsuma, standing in front of the trailer. So why then, would Ron&Misty need to go to NYC to get the focus back on Haleigh?
HTF can Cummings criticize the media for not focusing on Haleigh when HE is not focusing on Haleigh? Getting married has nothing to do with finding Haleigh. Why does he keep saying that he was at work and doesn't know anything? Why did Misty say that she went to the bedroom to get her phone to call Ron about the open door? Didn't she say before that she searched the house first thing? Why is Ron so twitchy? Why does Ron think Haleigh is watching The Today Show?

That is one little thing that bothered me from his first interview, the day that Haleigh went missing (or it could have been the next day.) "I was @ work, making an honest living, supporting my family." Why not just "I was @ work." Why the emphasis on "making an honest living" and "supporting my family." Not in just this interview, but in others, too. IIRC, he even mentioned that in the 911 call.
Just, "I was @ work"--and the reporters would have said, Ronald Cummings works @ such and such place, and everyone listening would have tho't--well, @ least the fellow is making an honest living, supporting his family. We could have come to that conclusion on our own---why would he have to tell us on more than one occasion? Even before there was any Ron bashing or questioning of life style, etc etc etc. Who was he trying to convince from the very first? Methinks he protests too much comes to mind.
And, the reporter on the video says, LE is convinced that Ronald does not know anything about the abduction, citing that it was proven he was @ work @ the time. Well, mister reporter---the last I heard, LE still says no one is ruled out, or something to that effect. They are holding their cards really, really close to their chest, and IMO, that is just a conclusion reporters or th's have come to, cuz I don't recall reading an LE interview where they say that (but, I will admit, I probably have not read each and every interview, so I could have missed it.)
It has been proven in many cases that one does not have to be present @ the crime scene to be involved in the crime, or to have knowledge of it. In some cases, the mastermind behind the plot is not the actual perp, is not @ the scene, etc. Or, in some cases, one might not be the mastermind, but HAVE KNOWLEDGE of who might have committed the crime, and WHY it was committed. So, to say, just because Ron was @ work that he had no knowledge is not necessarily so. IMO

Maybe not in this interview or in 99.9% of all the others, but he really, really did say her name once. It was on a clip shown on probably NG, but am not sure which show I was watching. Funny, never did see that clip again, usually they play them ad nauseum.
It's not surprising to me that Misty didn't have all the details correct when Haleigh came up missing. Who makes a point of remembering everything that happened in their household each day? Waking up and discovering haleigh missing had to be a shock which doesn't make for perfect memories.
If she had answered the questions in a careful exact manner, I would have been suspicious. If she had been guilty of something, her story line would have been precise and non changing. She would have a coherent storyline because it would be important that she be believed. Her confusion is exactly what makes her look innocent to me.

Many years ago, when I was married the second time, the pastor of the church where I was a member refused to perform the ceremony because I was divorced. The church didn't recognize divorce and as long as my first husband was alive, I was his wife in the eyes of the church.
Were we aware that Misty walked out on an interview with law enforcement? This is the first I have heard of that.

They have been dating 6 months now (5 @ the time Haleigh disappeared) and already these kids call her mommy? Not on their own, I'm betting. 5 and almost 4 y/o kids know the difference, know and see their own mother, and if she was called Misti around them, that is what they would call her. I'm betting they only call her mommy because she and/or Ron have encouraged them to do so. If, by chance, the kids came up w/this on their own, they would soon drop it if Ron and/or Misti corrected them whenever they said it.
Besides, we only have Misti's word on that--haven't heard Jr call her mom, and, of course, it will be highly unlikely we will ever hear Haleigh call her mom--highly unlikely THEY will ever hear Haleigh call her mom (again, if she ever did.)
