3 cadaver dogs have hit on this same exact dumpster. It has been checked before with bloodhounds, 2 or so times, but, it was full. It is now empty. Usually it is used for construction items from the mobile homes and RV's that surround it. It is not used for regular trash.

Could Haleigh have been placed in there, with the perp thinking it would not be checked because it's not for everyday garbage?

This dumpster serves a mobile home community 1/4 mile from Haleigh's home.

You know what's creepy? Misty saying the kids love her like she's their mom, loves them like they're her own...She barely knows them. They have a mom. She is not their mom. Okay, I know she's a kid and has no clue what she's saying, but I would be so po's if I were the REAL mom!

ITA, but one night Crystal said the kids told her they love Misti. She didn't seem ticked off at all. :eek: What gets me is that Crystal had never met Misti. Why wouldn't you make it a point to meet the person that is the primary caregiver of your children? :shrug:

I will have to do some research but if this is the team from Jesup GA, from what I have read and heard these dogs are excellent and highly trained. They can distinguish a dead animal from a dead human and from any other smell of decomposition. jmo

That soundbite that they show of Misty saying that she would never do anything to hurt that girl or little girl or however she puts it, gets to me. Like Ron, she doesn't use Haleigh's name. If we are to believe that the kidnapper is watching Geraldo out Cummings as a confidential informant, thereby endangering the Cummings family, shouldn't we also assume that he watches the news? Wouldn't it behoove these people to humanize Haleigh by using her name?

Suppose it's possible that there was a body at some point in that dumpster; they probably don't actually sanitize them after each dumping. How long can cadaver dogs pick up on the scent of remains? I just don't much believe that these trained dogs pick up on the odor of fish guts or a discarded Tbone (steak, not the brass instrument).

If I understand correctly, the Sunshine law only comes into the picture when there is an arrest, an upcoming trial, because the info released is connected to releasing discovery to the defense team. No suspect, no arrest and charge, no defendant, no sunshine law. IMO

Now it's to the dumping grounds for the rolloff container ~absolutely. They will do a search there, but how long since the dumpster was last emptied? Was Haleigh in there over a week, at the bottom, covered by construction debris etc? A lot of unanswered questions, and apparently they aren't telling the Cummings camp what their plans are. Maybe that's a good thing....

Since the dumpster/rolloff container is not everyday garbage,, it might be easier to check the contents where it was sent. I keep thinking of those months and months of searching they did for that poor girl and the mattress at the dump...that SOB husband threw her away like that...:(

The department dog was a golden retriever who had a nose on him that could put a bloodhound to shame. He once found a body that was deep into the ground after a plane crash. There was nothing but a crater about 20 feet deep, plus it has snowed and there was at least a foot and half of fresh snow, very dense forest, it was three days before search and recovery could get out to the crash site, the team searched when they did not find the body near the wreckage and Beau hit right center in the crater and found the man, or what was left of him. He also found a man who had jumped to his death from a bridge and I saw him in action on that one, he went right into very deep water and zeroed right in where the body was, about 30 feet under. Now these dogs are from Canine South, a highly trained bunch of dogs, and from what I understand, they are tops in the field. I just hope this is not Haleigh, but LE would not be out there on a whim, they had a direct hit from the dog. Has any of you seen these dogs in action either in person or on TV? Incredible, intelligent dogs, mostly Shepard's, but a Retriever can be just as good, hell, they will bring it to you!! I just heard a talking head advise they did indeed haul Misti back in for more questioning, they are zeroing in on her a lot huh? And we don't have a confirmation that they all did pass the polygraphs, we only have their version. Keep you posted.

That's what I notice, too about the polygraphs. Never had LE confirmation of pass or fail, the only one who said DEFINITELY that Ronald and Misti passed seemed to be Ronald. The others admitted they were not TOLD if they passed, but they felt they had.

I believe that the Sunshine law only applies to evidence once someone is charged with a crime. It is that once the prosecuting attorney has turned over discovery to the defense that the information can then be released to anyone making a written request for it.

I could be wrong on that but that is how I have understood it to work.

If you have dogs that are only trained to hit on decaying human flesh, that is what they will hit on, because when one is alive, everyone will smell different to a dog, but when you die, everyone smells the same and a woman on NG confirmed this as well. She brought a tracking dog into the studio, anyone see this? And she put a training tool that represents human remains, hid it in the couch cushions and the dog made a direct bee-line right for it. Beau was trained to hit on dead people too, and Sam was the one who tracked live individuals. In 2001, on February 4, a woman and her 15 year old daughter disappeared from their home in West Chesterfield NH, a town I lived in for about 10 years, right on the border to VT, 1.4 miles to be exact. They were living with a man who was about to stand trial for aggravated sexual assault against a child, I know all the players here, His name is Eugene Van Bowman and the women are Tina and Bethany Sinclair and he claimed that night that they just up and left and I know for a fact that did not happen.

Tina and I were/are both are avid cat lovers, we met one day at the PO and I noticed she had an issue of Cat Fancy magazine and I also read it and we started talking about our cats and after that when we would see each other, we would tell each other things they did. She also was a hairdresser and started cutting my hair and she had been living with another guy and she kicked him out and my ex put in all new locks, Bethany worked at out local general store and I would see her often. These women did not leave on their own speed. Tina's credit cards were never used, her bank accounts were never touched, their clothes and other personal items like family photos, both of their purses, her cat were left at the house, there is no way she would have left Samantha behind, if that is all she took it would be the cat. Van Bowman murdered them and I have theories as to why. I think he tried or was molesting Bethany and Tina being naive, thought he would never touch her child, apparently she was believing that he did not assault a 8 year old girl. Or she did finally believe and was going to leave him and he is a guy who thinks women are possessions. When they were declared missing, LE descended on the property, it is winter in NH, everything frozen including the river the property abutted, the house is at the base of 1,000 foot mountain, there are ore mines all over it and caves and they found nothing. In the spring they brought out the dogs, found nothing. Their family organized search parties and searched the mountain but few wanted to go in those mines and caves, they are loaded with rattlesnakes. Some were searched though, and nothing. They even contacted Sylvia Brown the physic and she said they would be found on a north face of a mountain and in a large plastic container, they searched the whole face and found nothing.

I asked the police chief as to why they were not searching all the mines and he said they did not have the manpower which is true, it is a small department. Van Bowman was convicted and sent to prison in 2002 for 2-15 years. The property was tied up in probate because she had put him on the deed, don't ask me why, and for 8 long years now, no sign of the women. The police did not even declare them possible homicide victims till 2004, before that they were just considered missing. He got out in 2004, and violated his parole for drinking and is now back in prison. The house was torn down in 2006 as the property was seized for back taxes and once again, the police searched and found nothing, but I am still convinced they are on the mountain somewhere, both my sister and I firmly believe that they might be on the eastern side where there is not much, no snowmobile or hiking trails, and many more mines, and he did own a snowmobile and those mines are uranium, very, very deep, you could throw a body down there and never find it. The dogs that searched are NH State Police Canines totally trained to only hit on humans, not dead animals or vegetation and they searched tirelessly for about a week and came up zero. One dog sorta hit on a scent in the basement, but there were no freshly cemented areas, or holes in the walls and Bowman had put their clothes down there and it was a false hit. I know he murdered them and I keep hoping every year that they find them and her family has worked tirelessly to keep their memory alive, they have a web site set up, they hired private investigators, and it is such a mystery and a heartbreak for her family, her sister I know, will never give up, she knows that they are dead and all she wants is to find them and bring Van Bowman to justice and I wish that it could happen.

On the subject of cadaver dogs - DH is a vet and he has several different types of service dogs as clients. The cadaver dogs don't react at his office and there certainly are dead animals passing through there. They are highly trained to tell the difference.

Detectives find nothing after searching through dumpster yesterday.

Deputies searching for Haleigh Cummings said nothing surfaced from Thursday's dumpster search in Putnam County.

Three cadaver dogs alerted at the dumpster located near the home of the missing 5-year-old girl. Detectives sorted through tons of trash, but nothing of interest to the case was discovered inside the receptacle.

Seven teams of cadaver dogs spent the day searching the area around the Cummings home.

The canine teams will continue checking the area today.

Captain Dick Schauland of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said the search was not the result of any new information received, but a return to areas previously searched to ensure nothing had been overlooked.

Schauland said the cadaver dogs will alert to the scent of humans, as well as "any human matter such as a bandage with blood on it, or personal hygiene items."

Haleigh's Home No Longer A Crime Scene

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Haleigh's house in Putnam County had been cordoned off as a crime scene ever since she disappeared earlier this month. But Friday, the crime scene tape finally came down.

Haleigh Cummings' Green Lane home where she was abducted from in the middle of the night is no longer a crime scene. However, Ronald Cummings said he won't live in his home after knowing his little girl was taken out of her bed.

Meanwhile the search teams canvassed the thick wooded area for clues.
Cadaver dogs continue to search areas around the home of Haleigh Cummings Friday. Thursday one dog alerted on a nearby dumpster, but a thorough search found nothing.

The wooded areas are new to the cadaver dogs. The sheriff's office wants to make sure nothing was missed in the search.

Bryan Selzer and his dog Eli came from Jacksonville to aid in the search for Haleigh Cummings Friday afternoon.

"We're just doing a different area today. We're hitting mostly the wooded area that we are searching and again we are searching that for the second time to make sure that everything's covered," said Selzer.

Seven cadaver dogs searched the wooded area and investigators said they are trained to sniff out human remains. The specially trained dogs searched the Cummings' neighborhood Thursday and found nothing but rotting trash in a dumpster.

Selzer said going through the woods is more difficult than it looks.

Now it's to the dumping grounds for the rolloff container ~absolutely. They will do a search there, but how long since the dumpster was last emptied? Was Haleigh in there over a week, at the bottom, covered by construction debris etc? A lot of unanswered questions, and apparently they aren't telling the Cummings camp what their plans are. Maybe that's a good thing....

ITA! Hey, I follow cases. I'm not a news hound and I even knew cadaver dogs know the difference between rotting meat and a dead body. Anyone who researches it should know that - :no: shame on the news media that reported anything differently.

Someone else brought up how CA could use this now in Casey's defense. Not!:no: I somehow think CA missed that part of nursing school, although she should tread carefully - her words are on a 911 tape ~ "It smells like there's been a damn dead body in the car". Not just a dead body, but a damn dead body mind you.

Regarding the dumpster, if the dogs hit on it, then they do need to be checking the land fill. Just because it was dumped will not make the smell of decomp go away unless it was washed with hundreds of gallons of bleach. This is just my opinion.

Agree that this family is far from normal by most standards! Sure, lots of kids have a seventeen year old babysitter occasionally. But a live-in? PUHLEEZ

I've been thinking about Cummings and his attitude (for lack of a better word) towards Junior really bothers me. Regarding the dumpster, if the dogs hit on it, then they do need to be checking the land fill. Just because it was dumped will not make the smell of decomp go away unless it was washed with hundreds of gallons of bleach. This is just my opinion. This is exactly what I thought. I thought I knew all the details in this case, but by reading alot of this thread I have missed some stuff.

Is Ron a rapist? I didn't know his criminal history. Also, I watched all the dog stuff with the BS queen (NG)...it was my understanding that these dogs hit on dead skin, or anything thats human and dead...it doesn't have to be Haleighs. I just wondered if these dogs are really good, if it's possible that perhaps a bandage that was over a wound maybe had the smell of dead blood or dead skin cells on it? Also, OLD womens 'products' could be the smell they hit on? I know this is gross, but I believe in these dogs and they did hit on something dead. Just like I'm sure Caylee Anthony was in the yard and then the car, and the dogs hit on those places.
I also picture the 17 yo getting sick of the situation and probably wanting to just go have a good time somehwere. She's still a teen, all they want to do is have fun.

Woostock, my little NE friend!! Yeah, we had a golden retriever when we were kids, her name was Kelly and she would bring you anything! We would throw rocks in the lake and she would come back with that same rock every time! IMO I think they make better cadaver dogs than Shepperd's, Beau could sniff out a dead body so quickly and be accurate every time!! He would be given the go ahead, he would boogie right over to where he detected the scent and sit down which meant he hit on a dead body and nothing else. Now I am wondering if Putnam County is going to search the landfill seeing as three dogs hit on that dumpster, makes sense to me, even though I am sure it would not be an easy task, but a little girl is at stake here. Three dogs is something you can't ignore, one maybe, but three strike at the same dumpster?? Great deduction, mu8shark. Her body may have been in there when the dumpster was last emptied ! You may be the first one to have thought of that! Why not phone it in?

I seriously doubt if those dumpsters are ever sanitized. And you wonder if the dumpster that is at the site now, is the one that is and has always been there. There could have been decomposition in that dumpster from another time or site. And it's a construction dumpster, does that mean for construction materials only? I saw several/many trash bags being tossed out. Or does the term refer to the size?

At any rate, the dump site should be checked. And I'd be curious if after the cadaver dog(s) hit on the dumpster, if the hounds were brought back to confirm whether or not Haleigh had been nearby.

Having said they are not foolproof but to have 3 dogs hit on it kind of shocked me. One dog could make a mistake , three is kind of far fetched. However, Loretta's point is well taken. I am sure those dumpsters are not sanitized or washed from time to time at all, they just stay dirty. So it would not be unusual for a dog to hit on a dead decomp smell from a few months ago or even a year or so. Traces of that smell stay really until you clean them. It is good to know they are monitoring the landfill though. I just did not want them to outright dismiss the idea she could have been in there earlier.

I don't remember the discussion about Crystal having missed a visitation, but I do remember the discussion about the notice of the court hearing going to the wrong addy; 1) it's the party's responsibility to notify the court of an address change, and keep records up to date, and 2) the post office would have forwarded the notice if she filed a change of address form. That doesn't make me suspicious, but it's worrisome that she's not serious about her responsibilities.

Crystal had Junior for visitation last weekend, so that would mean that her previous dates would have been 1/12 and 2/6 which was the weekend right before Haleigh went missing. Let us know what you find!

That being said...Letting this 17 yo babysit these kids and be responsible for them (when there not hers) is not right. Since they are not hers, of course she may not mind slippin out to have some fun while their asleep, IMO.(not saying she did)...

That's interesting. I just ASSumed it was 16 in Florida. You see where that gets you. Also, They have only been together for 5 months, I don't see how she could have been "MOM" in 5 months. IMO, Crystal never meeting the girl that she KNEW was keeping her children speaks volumes about HER. As I said in my other post, I'm drawing on my own personal experiences and as a Stepmom that watched a 5 yo little girl wait for her mommy that never showed up or called, I am very critical when mothers that seem to be so 'lackadaisical' about the babies they give birth too, and then blame everyone else when ask why they don't have those babies.

Well I'm definately ignorant about his criminal history and especially about what happened in court. I'm assuming you're saying that he told the court he would live with his KIDS at his mom's? Someone mentioned above that Misty's parents live across the street. How can they not have a better idea of how old he is? And is there honestly not talk about this pedophile there in Satsuma? It just seems to me that if 'Mom' had actually fought for custody, proving she could provide a home for her kids, and showing up for her court dates, she would have had them. again, I'm assuming. If the mom goes into court and acts like she doesn't care, then the judge will hand the kids to the parent who actually WANTS custody. I'd love to read some court orders, motions..ect.

I don't know anything about this baby you mentioned...but OMG. Wasn't the father charged? Shameful. My sister and I have custody of my 4yo nephew. We've had him since 4 months. He was taken away for drugs. I'm telling you right now...we'd both sell our homes, ourselves, run naked to the courthouse, whatEVER it took to keep him AWAY from the ppl that put him in such danger. Oh there's been an outcry, and I've worked with DSS. I was so protective of my daughters I wrote a letter to the editor of our local paper calling out the 3 pedophiles that live on my street.(put notes in mailboxes..) I think because of my experiences I was really strict on them. They are both 22, and still have to let me meet their b/f's.

Cummings does need to be prosecuted, don't get me wrong. Sometimes I get riled about the difference between a 15 yo with an 18yo being treated the same way as an old man raping a small child. My trailer happened to be really nice, I had a nice back yard, a nice deck, I loved my kitchen, it was so nice, but after I had to stop working, I could no longer afford the natural gas bills, so I sold it to a person who was renting. And I had good neighbors with the exception of a few, but the trash was leaving on a daily basis because when I bought it, new owners took over and got rid of all the losers. Oh, the age thing. All kids know you have to put your age at no less than 18 so you can take full advantage of the options on Facebook and myspace. All the teenagers I know are in their early 20s. They are not my kids or they'd get a sound woodshed visit, but I did turn them in to their parents.

The underage thing is amazing, how people don't count it as pedophilia if its in a "relationship". In high school our music teacher used to sequester himself in the music room during lunch for private flute lessons (I kid you not!) with a 15 year old student. We used to joke about it, how we never heard her playing her flute. Turns out, we thought we were kidding, but gross, we were right! He married her when she turned 16 (with her parents permission) and neither ever came back again. He had to be at least 32. Creep. And, not that it really matters, but he was the ugliest sob I've ever seen in my life. I hope she's okay.

That's interesting. I just ASSumed it was 16 in Florida. You see where that gets you. Also, They have only been together for 5 months, I don't see how she could have been "MOM" in 5 months. I know exactly what you mean. This woman,(or person)...she probably was raised the same way. Some people think that their kids will be just fine, no matter what THEY do. I think some people just know that their kids will be ALIVE and could care less if the kids have food, clean clothes, loving ritual everyday...they don't care if they finish high school, let alone have a good job. It just goes on and on and on...I'm glad the kids were taken away. I wish I had more time for more kids.

Tonight was certainly not the first time that Fox has shown Junior's face, and I haven't seen anyone here or any other board taking up for the mother for allowing it. But if they did, wouldn't that be a difference of opinion??
