I see it every day, judges making rotten decisions. My bias, but most "family court" judges where I live are middle aged white guys who don't have a clue about the cycle of abuse and how kids suffer from witnessing it. Most have not received adequate training or education in DV and the dynamics of abusive relationships. They know law but not relationships. JMO.

Well, JVM is picking up the theme that the accusations that Crystal is making are of not help to the search for Haleigh, and once again I disagree. His criminal background goes directly to the company he keeps and what may be a motive.

Someone (Drew Findley) points out that Cummings isn't making the same type of allegations toward Crystal. BFD He's the one (besides Misty) who has lied to the media and contradicted himself regarding the details of Haleigh's disappearance. I do agree that the judge's charge was to choose the lesser or two evils when it came to rewarding custody, but I think the judge erred.

when she was asked about ldt...she said the guy said they had to send it away, while misty & ron always say they did, since the first night on NG...but i think i keep hearing no one is being told they have passed.
and i would like to hear mike brooks telling NG during the commercials, how LE has not said anyone passed & they aren't going to, but you just know she knows that.

Deputies found what appeared to be a small footprint in the dirt, but noted Haleigh's shoes were still inside her home.

The tracking dog led deputies to a pond and back to Green Drive [map it], Haleigh's street. Deputies looked inside a small building with a door that had been left open. Nothing was inside.

The track continued north past Haleigh's home down Monroe Avenue and onto Buchan Circle, which looped back to Monroe Avenue. The canine officer continued to track down Buffalo Bluff Road but lost the track at the railroad crossing....

Or, possibly, Misti goes to sleep w/the kids until Ronald gets home (maybe Haleigh isn't the only one afraid of the dark?) and then they go to another room? Nah--Misti had to go out into the dark if she wasn't there when Haleigh was taken. Or, she had company to go out with her.

My guess is the other rooms are full of crap and not organized or maybe they don't have enough beds. I visualize a fairly chaotic environment and not very clean. Given you have a 17 yr. old providing childcare and "other duties as assigned" my bet is the kids don't have their own space. JMO.

Bloodhounds tracked Haleigh's scent from her home to the St. Johns River, but authorities don't know how recent the tracks were. Divers checked the area nearby.

ITA! It does seem to come back to them doesn't it?? And Mommy would not win any awards from me either, but I don't think she and Chad are at the high point of the list that LE has. If she passed, she passed. As for Misti, I am dying to know if Junior knew at the time that Haleigh was taken whether or not she was in the house??? If she was, and he saw the man come in, why did he not wake her up by screaming or something?? And if she wasn't in the house, why did he not tell her when she came back in? Haleigh goes to the lake with her dad so she knows how to get there. Haleigh wakes up and finds MC sleeping or gone and she decided she wants to go to the lake. She takes off her shirt she was wearing so she could go swimming in the lake.( This is what happened to the AR boy-he took off his shirt and headed back outside) Haleigh drowns.
Of course, it's a night and I don't know the temp down there. Plus it doesn't make sense why MC would be lying but just a thought.

if you're afraid of the dark, but you wake up & can't find misty.it's dark inside.it's dark outside, but you are possibly more afraid inside,if misty isn't there & go outside to find her.... but you would have to be able to see the door...maybe the tv was still on ...and you would probably be calling misty, misty & a neighbor could hear.

It just makes me sick! How do expect a child to know dangers like that when we are suppose to protect them?

Thought it was interesting where it talked about the search and rescue dogs have to find a person and they test 2 railroads. I wonder if there is something about it that makes them not be able to track from them or lose the scent. I'll tell you what bugs me about the "Daddy Daughter Agreement" and the spanking on the behind for discipline, is that spanking is corporal punishment. Miles away from discipline. DFS (DCF?) encourages punishment over discipline??

I suspect what it really was is he was given guidelines as to what was allowed and what was not, and he took it as a recommendation to DO it. Poking around online, I found stuff like dcf "discourages" spanking, but that seems to leave some wiggle room to me...and in 2002, the head of it (or at least the nominee) thought that spankings that resulted in welts or bruising were acceptable (!). Mommyto2, it was in the police report from the initial call. One of the responding officers was a K9 unit. But they tracked Haleigh down the path and back up by the trailer and then out by the road is what I understood.

No, they most likely would have used the blanket from the bed she was sleeping on. It had the freshest scent of Haleigh on it and it had just been laundried. I asked a friend that has bloodhounds about this when the shirt issue first come up. He said that they would have asked for the last thing that she had in contact with her body.

From what little LE has said, the local RSOs have been accounted for during the time of the abduction, but suppose it's possible that an itinerant like Couey could have snatched her, but that would require some surveillance on the perp's part, and one of the grandmothers said that Haleigh spends most of her time indoors, so that seems unlikely to me.

So, if I rule out a sex offender/pedophile, I have to wonder why Junior wouldn't have been an easier target.

Good to know. I'm still confused as to why the pink shirt wasn't noticed until later. Seems like LE would have asked Cummings and Croslin what else was missing from the home and she would have noticed the pink shirt. Suppose it could have been buried in the laundry, or then again, maybe the house is a mess. What Haleigh was supposedly wearing should have stood out like a sore thumb.

Imo, I would think the most likely suspect would be an unregistered sex offender because there are untold numbers of them. Those of all ages that have never been caught and young ones just starting out. I wouldn't think a drug dealer or user would take her because Ronald would suspect them and I can't see him protecting them in this situation.

About LE interviewing Crystal's fiance, that was actually a miscommunication. Ron told Crystal's brother and a woman that was joining them that he was 75% sure that he knows who has Haleigh. LE thought that it was Crystal's fiance and this woman that Ron told that too.

I would be interested to know if Junior was asked whether Misty was sleeping when the man in black was there. If he said she wasn't in bed, that would have given them something to talk about.

When my son was 4 years old, he got up around 6 o'clock most mornings, changed from his pajamas to shorts and shirt, unlocked the front door and went outside to play. We found that out when the neighbors told us.

Divers searched what seemed to me a very large area along the bank of the river. Of course, they didn't find her. If you listen to LE when they give their report on man hours, they mention divers.

I'm slooooowwwwww on the uptake today, but the bloodhounds were used very soon after Haleigh was reported missing, and Misty told LE that all three of them were in the same bed. How would the dogs be able to differentiate between Haleigh's scent and Misty's and/or Junior's? It makes more sense to me that the canine handler asked for something that Haleigh and no one else had scented. The story(s) about separate beds and separate rooms didn't come out until later.

How would the dogs be able to differentiate between Haleigh's scent and Misty's and/or Junior's? I believe someone saw this child in CO like I believed people saw Caylee in OK and we all know that was not the case, she was laying moldering in a laundry and trash bag couple of blocks away from her house and had been since June 16th. Now for Ron? His record is not that minor, morphine is a controlled substance only given to people for extreme pain, like cancer patients and people would might have just had surgery, kinda hard to come by on the streets. And the other charges he was given a pass, not unusual, the jails are probably full down there, yeah, full of SO's, but he is currently on probation for those charges so if he were to mess up he would be charged with his third felony and could go to prison. I am still leaning towards an unknown sex offender. He could be from CA for all we know, would not be on a FL's radar screen, might be living in that park or near it, took a tool through and saw HC and decided to try to find a way to get to her.

I was curious so I checked both Baker and Volusia Counties court records. This is what I found of interest in Baker county.

There is a Dismissal of Temporary Injunction, March 23, 2006 where Crystal had filed for a protection order against Ron for Domestic Violence but the judge decided that there was insufficient evidence to grant or keep the temporary injunction in place.

I also found in Volusia county where Halifax hospital released Ron from over $9,000.00 in debt to the hospital.

Ron, Haleigh, and Junior did and according to the custody agreement they were suppose to be still living there. Mrs. Neves was suppose to be the one watching the children while he worked.

I believe that Junior is only at the tent for a limited time during the day. I know that he spent his weekend with his mother at an undisclosed location because they wanted him to be comfortable.

Ron is staying in the RV and I saw yesterday where Misti is visiting but I don't think that she is spending the night anymore.

Cannot believe that two attorneys are saying that Cummings has only minor crimes. Possession of morphine is a minor crime? Whatever.

The eviction doesn't have a middle initial or signature, so I can't tell if it's our Crystal S or some other.)

$9000 is a substantial hospital bill, wonder what it's for. Or is it several smaller bills over time?

Tip Leads Detectives To St. Augustine In Haleigh Search

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Detectives following a tip, searched in St. Augustine near some railroad tracks around SR-16 and US-1, but nothing turned up. Putnam County investigators told Eyewitness News Tuesday that an anonymous donor gave $5,000, bringing the reward to $25,500.

Volunteers continue to search surrounding areas for the little girl.

Investigators are no longer conducting ground searches, but said they're following up on over 1,600 tips.

I tho't about that, too. But, then, most kids with life-long disabilities, syndromes, etc, especially those that require a lot of medical intervention usually get medical cards pretty much from the beginning. For kids we take care of, even tho the medical card might not come thru for a while, the NICU bill is covered by the medical when it does come in. Unless things are done differently in FL, there pretty much shouldn't be any outstanding medical bills related to Haleigh.

And I'll take this time to applaud The Honorable Richard Mobley who wrote "Handbook or Domestic Litigants" that is used by judges nationwide.

ETA: Ron's possession of morphine and paraphenalia charges are in Sarasota County; posted Sunday(?) night.

He might have rolled on people after looking over his record carefully, some of the legalese is different from what I am used to, I remember anything we received from MA whether it be civil or criminal sometimes was hard to figure out because instead of the state of MA it is the commonwealth, but I can make out enough where he does have several possession charges regardless, and the morphine one is a serious one, and he seems to have had charges just about every year and probably has a juvie record too! So IMO, this is not a minor record, it is a major one! And to have multiple charges for pot, he has not learned his lesson yet IMO. As for HC, I read where they were looking around some railroad tracks in St. Augustine and that is about it for now.

I am thinking that there is a built in order as a general rule in Florida.

Oh Geez! I just saw on our local news that some Boy Scott leader has been arrested for molesting little boys and he is facing 20 counts of CSC under the age of 13, translated, Criminal Sexual Conduct and is being held on $400,000 bail and the victims range in age from 9-13!!! I wish I could be a vigilante at times!!! He would no longer have parts or hands!!! He is 43 years old from Flint MI and at the 5 p.m. news they are going to have more about it and I will update then. Makes me sick. We have this little angel missing, and I can't get that nagging feeling out of my head, that there is a SO they don't know about. Not one soul knew Couey was 150 yards away from the Lunsford's. Now most states have sex offender registries on line, but what always worries me is the ones that did the deed, but got out of it and are on PROBATION, or the child was too traumatized to testify and he walks, they are not on any radar screen, could have maxed out on their sentence from another state and went in the wind, I still think there is one involved.

According to talking heads on one of the shows last night, Cummings would have been given a second chance with the understanding that he would attend some sort of drug program, but his record doesn't show that he did. AND he also got more than one second chance. Things that make you go hmmm

So my Wednesday theory is this; Cummings not only may be an informant (did anyone see LE's comment about that? Wouldn't it be better for everyone involved for them to vehemently deny it if he isn't?), but maybe he also still dabbles in drugs, either using or selling. That way he butters his bread on both sides. Maybe someone fronted him drugs to sell and he didn't cough up the money when it was due. Maybe Haleigh was taken for "ransom" of sorts.

At any rate, I wouldn't be one bit surprised if he's got a pretty good idea of who took her.

He might have rolled on people after looking over his record carefully, some of the legalese is different from what I am used to, I remember anything we received from MA whether it be civil or criminal sometimes was hard to figure out because instead of the state of MA it is the commonwealth, but I can make out enough where he does have several possession charges regardless, and the morphine one is a serious one, and he seems to have had charges just about every year and probably has a juvie record too! So IMO, this is not a minor record, it is a major one! And to have multiple charges for pot, he has not learned his lesson yet IMO. As for HC, I read where they were looking around some railroad tracks in St. Augustine and that is about it for now.

Do the tracks in Satsuma go to St. Augustine? The Putnam County K9 tracked Haleigh to the tracks (or nearby). Wonder if they used hounds to follow up on this new lead.

So my Wednesday theory is this; Cummings not only may be an informant (did anyone see LE's comment about that? Wouldn't it be better for everyone involved for them to vehemently deny it if he isn't?), but maybe he also still dabbles in drugs, either using or selling. That way he butters his bread on both sides. Maybe someone fronted him drugs to sell and he didn't cough up the money when it was due. Maybe Haleigh was taken for "ransom" of sorts.

At any rate, I wouldn't be one bit surprised if he's got a pretty good idea of who took her.

Now, where I worked, they called the "rat file" "Field Contacts" And one name on there just blew me away because I knew the guy, I also knew that he did sell drugs, (POT) but I could not tell a soul and when a bust came down, I knew that he was probably behind it, but I took the oath of integrity and also I believe in it to this day. IIRC, it was "neither confirm or deny." I took it to mean he is, along with his
rather odd rap sheet. Kids younger than him are doing alot of years for a 10th
of what he's been caught with.

Has anybody heard anything about that 1st sex offender who was mentioned

Even if Ron is an informant, which I'm inclined to believe because of his record, I feel if those folks retaliated, it'd be to kill Ron, not take a child. She be a real liability to them, imo.

I'll be honest that the timing of Cumming's filing for contempt is what piques my interest; he goes for months without support, and then right before Haleigh goes missing, he wants/needs the money. I don't think Ron is physically responsible for the abduction, but if he's double dealing and is an informant and needed money to prevent the kidnapping and isn't talking, then I think less of him than before. Think I posted the link re: the injunction a while back. One of the charges against Crystal in Putnam County (IIRC) is a violation of an order; domestic violence (if I'm reading correctly), but so far I haven't found the actual order. I've also checked for the drug charges that have been alluded to and haven't found them. (So far I've checked Alachu, Baker, Bay, Okaloosa, Okeechobee, and Putnam Counties and have found a couple of speeding tickets, and possibly an eviction. The eviction doesn't have a middle initial or signature, so I can't tell if it's our Crystal S or some other.)

$9000 is a substantial hospital bill, wonder what it's for. Or is it several smaller bills over time?

Tip Leads Detectives To St. Augustine In Haleigh Search

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Detectives following a tip, searched in St. Augustine near some railroad tracks around SR-16 and US-1, but nothing turned up. Putnam County investigators told Eyewitness News Tuesday that an anonymous donor gave $5,000, bringing the reward to $25,500.

Volunteers continue to search surrounding areas for the little girl.

Investigators are no longer conducting ground searches, but said they're following up on over 1,600 tips.

i have had a bad fear ,someone took her & left on a train & there was a possible sighting at a train in another town today, but when police got there, they only found a man walking his child to school.imo

I think Amy made an excellent point that Haleigh would have likely been covered by Medicaid. And let's don't forget that the judge's decision to reward custody to Cummings was predicated on the fact that he had insurance. $9000 seems like an awful lot of debt for someone with all that coverage.

i did forget about amy's point...i wouldn't want to forget custody...., but he was also supposed to be at his mother's house & we see how he does what he pleases,imo, & not what he is supposed to do...maybe he didn't pay the insurance.

She is precious isn't she? I am so hoping that she is not some freak's sex toy, I am praying for her to come home just like I did Caylee, but as time passes you get less and less convinced that she will come home. Worst part about FL is you got so many swamps, that swamp grass could hide a jetliner, you got heavy wooded areas, you have to watch out for gators and snakes, does not make for happy hunting. At least here in MI it is so flat you can find people and things here pretty easy and you don't have critters that want to eat you. All we have here are deer and turkeys. I forget which station's website that I was checking for the latest news but they were reporting that one of the area's security companies had reported an increase of over 30% in new installations and renewed activations since this happened. People are scared and not just the people of Satsuma.

I believe that the Sunshine law only applies to evidence once someone is charged with a crime. It is that once the prosecuting attorney has turned over discovery to the defense that the information can then be released to anyone making a written request for it.

Someone wanted Haleigh, not junior. That is why I still believe it was a SO or worse. I don't even care anymore whether she was in the same room or not, because I'm thinking either way, Misty wouldn't have heard anything because she was out of it. I haven't seen anything about this but it looks like something young boys build in the woods. It's not real practical as a chair due to the way its constructed. Too flimsy and uncomfortable.

It does make me think about the 30 day timeline LE was trying to put together. If that area has lots of teenagers, Misty, Haleigh, and Junior may have had interaction with them over the last 30 days. It could have just as easily been a teenager that took Haleigh as an older person.

Investigators are using teams of cadaver dogs to search areas near Haleigh Cummings' home in Satsuma this morning.

Capt. Dick Schauland of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office emphasized that investigators aren't searching the areas in response to tips and said that the searches are a routine measure often taken in missing child cases.

The dogs belong to Canine South, a non-law enforcement group that specializes in search dogs. The dogs being used today specialize in finding human remains.

Haleigh was last seen over two weeks ago by her father's girlfriend, Misty Croslin. Croslin, 17, told investigators that she, Haleigh and Ronald Jr., went to sleep in the same bedroom Feb. 9, and when she woke up at 3 a.m. Feb. 10, Haleigh was gone.

that it really really bothers me that the news media is saying the father is an informant. Why not just put a bullseye on his forehead? I mean if people didn't know he was an informant before they sure do now. And even if he isn't an informant, people are now going to think he's one. I can't stand Geraldo Rivera..what a MORON and I wanted to scream at JVM last night and tell her to shut up! Even though this family seems to have problems they still don't strike me to be as bad as the Anthony's. These kids just seem really young.

They need to ask the other states for help. Ask all Parole/Probation Officer who gave their clients travel permits for FL to give them those names. Also, if they know of any SO in their district that may have relatives that live in this town. I know with RSO that are on Parole/Probation they get a ton of relative information. They need to be asking other states or jurisdictions in FL to look into that. If they haven't already! JMO

I have mixed feelings about the informant question; it's valid because it presents a theory for the abduction. It's dangerous because it possibly puts Cummings and his family in danger. If people don't believe Ron when he denies being an informant, it's because of the other lies he's told. LE could help him out by simply stating that he is not, IF he is not.

And the fact will remain; Cummings has somehow skated on some pretty serious crimes.

The five-year-old has been missing since she went to bed on the night of February 9th.

Late Thursday afternoon, detectives came looking for Sheffield, who had apparently gone to the doctor.

The detectives are trying to track her down after going to the wrong office. Investigators would not comment on what type of DNA sample they need, or why.

All morning, the cadaver dogs have been looking through and under a number of people's homes in Heleigh's neighborhood.

"They've been in my home," said neighbor James Batchelor. "They've torn it apart. All the buildings out there they've been in them twice."

The dogs are trained to specifically seek out human remains and are part of Canine South, a non-law-enforcement group specializing in canine searches.

"Today's search is not in response to leads received from the family or the public, but as a routine procedure that has proven itself in other missing child cases," said Captain Dick Schauland with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. "This search is being conducted to insure that no possibility is overlooked in the search for Haleigh."

Ron Wirth, a former FBI agent who's been doing general analysis on the investigation as a representative of First Coast Crime Stoppers, says the move to get the DNA from Haleigh's mother may be about evidence.

"They may be seeking the biological mother's DNA to establish a basis for test comparisons on items that they have found, or will find, to positively identify or eliminate those items as evidence in this matter," said Wirth.

Wirth says the new search with cadaver dogs is also not unusual at this stage in the investigation.

"If a body began to deteriorate you might get some gasses that the dogs could hit on," said Wirth.

Thursday's ground search is the first major organized effort in some time.

Investigators have been chasing false leads across the First Coast and in Tennessee since shifting the search for Haleigh to more of an investigative approach in the case last week.

The family spoke briefly to the media Thursday afternoon. Teresa Neves, Haleigh's grandmother, expressed concern over the dwindling crowds of media. She also said Ronald Cummings and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Misty Croslin, are still together as a couple.

The reward for information leading to Haleigh is up to $26,500. Call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS if you have any information. You will remain anonymous and could recieve a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.

Looks like searchers are targeting a dumpster .2 mile from the Cummings' tent. They've got search lights, have taken photographs, the area has been cordoned off.

No one that the reporter has talked to has seen Crystal. She apparently told someone that if someone comes looking for her DNA, she had a doc appt.

Haleigh Search Moves to Nearby Dumpster

SATSUMA, FL -- Late Thursday afternoon, investigators, who have had their busiest day in about a week, went to the neighborhood behind Haleigh Cummings' house and began searching through a construction dumpster.

After 5 p.m., the search moved into the Villas neighborhood, which is just on the other side of a fence from where Ronald and Haleigh Cummings' house is.

First Coast News Erich Spivey says investigators were following a tip from area neighbors.

It is not clear if this is the first time this area has been searched, or specifically what searchers are after as they looked through the large dumpster.

The department dog was a golden retriever who had a nose on him that could put a bloodhound to shame. He once found a body that was deep into the ground after a plane crash. There was nothing but a crater about 20 feet deep, plus it has snowed and there was at least a foot and half of fresh snow, very dense forest, it was three days before search and recovery could get out to the crash site, the team searched when they did not find the body near the wreckage and Beau hit right center in the crater and found the man, or what was left of him. He also found a man who had jumped to his death from a bridge and I saw him in action on that one, he went right into very deep water and zeroed right in where the body was, about 30 feet under. Now these dogs are from Canine South, a highly trained bunch of dogs, and from what I understand, they are tops in the field. I just hope this is not Haleigh, but LE would not be out there on a whim, they had a direct hit from the dog. Has any of you seen these dogs in action either in person or on TV? Incredible, intelligent dogs, mostly Shepard's, but a Retriever can be just as good, hell, they will bring it to you!! I just heard a talking head advise they did indeed haul Misti back in for more questioning, they are zeroing in on her a lot huh? And we don't have a confirmation that they all did pass the polygraphs, we only have their version. Keep you posted.

Haleigh's Mom Talks to First Coast News

SATSUMA, FL -- Angry over rumors she was in hiding today, Haleigh Cummings' mother spoke to First Coast News to clear the air.

Crystal Sheffield spoke with First Coast News Jackelyn Barnard at 6 Thursday evening, and expressed her feelings over the rumors about her.

"I'd like it to stop," she said, adding that while her daughter is missing, she isn't going anywhere.

The rumor that she wasn't available started Thursday when investigators went looking for Sheffield to get a DNA sample, which Sheffield confirmed. First Coast News confirmed Sheffield did give a DNA sample to investigators today.

She said she wasn't hiding from anyone.

"It's very frustrating...I'm very mad right now," she concluded.

I've got to say that I can't imagine how owing back support would be a motive for her to harm Haleigh. She will still owe the money even if Haleigh is found dead.

I had a gay roommate about 20 years ago that had a friend who every time he came over, I could not keep my eyes off of him, long black curly hair, deep blue eyes, and a face that angels made in likeness of them, a body to die for, he was always deeply tanned, he would wear those white muscle shirts and cut-offs and I would drool and so would my friends!! And you know what? As gay as a picnic basket!! And had never slept with a woman, knew he always was gay, and I had to ask him one night when I was pretty buzzed, WHY? And he said that he loved women, he liked hanging out with women, but preferred men sexually. Well we became close, and I took him to a wedding and all the women just swooned, they thought I was dating him and hey, I did not deny it!!! He ended up in a serious relationship and I had to admit, he did good, the guy he ended up marrying was just as pretty except he is blond and blue eyed and they are still together today!!!

I am watching the body language of the cops. I notice one keeps standing near the back left of the dumpster. You know what else could have happened? A body was in there last week, the dumpster got dumped, but the smell remained, but then again, you would have thought the cops would have searched all the dumpsters, but maybe not and the body is at the landfill. Wasn't Laura Hocking found in the landfill when she was found?? I just hope that it is a false hit, but those dogs are seriously trained to hit only on human remains.

JVM's cadaver dog expert pointed out that these dogs are human remains specific.

TR's a cutie; there was a great article in the NYTimes about him and his roomie flipping apartments in NYC. Every time I see him at that fish shack on Ina's show, I have to compare it to the other side of his taste. (And lots of Ina's friends ping for me.)

SATSUMA -- Searchers have cordoned off an area in Putnam County.

Investigators have searched a Dumpster in a subdivision that's approximately a quarter-mile away from the home of Haleigh Cummings.

The contents from the Dumpster has been placed into a second, where investigators are going through the bags one by one.

Investigators are now using a backhoe to sift through debris in the first Dumpster.

According to News 13's Saul Saenz, investigators took pictures of the Dumpster before taking out the contents.

Neighbors told Saenz when cadaver dogs got close to the Dumpster, they started barking.

Also, her boss there, the guy with the huge nose, I think he is gay too. I used to go to Fire Island when I was a kid as my parent's friends all had summer homes there, it was all the rage in the early 60's and also it was a haven for gay men, and what sucked though is most of them did not have kids yet and the guys sure didn't and I remember spending the first summer there bored and I think that is when I realized people were different. There was a home next to "Aunt Jackie's" where two men lived. Their names were Maurice and Ramon and Maurice liked to dress as a queen and Ramon was all male. And they used to invite us kids over for ice cream and on 4th of July they would blow off firecrackers and we would have a clam bake. My mother called them "special friends" but she liked them OK, they were nice guys who liked kids, we would fly kites, swim, go out on their sailboat. My parents would play bridge with them, and when everyone was on the Island, meaning all their friends, they would go out to the dance pavilion that was near the water and us kids, would watch everyone dance and Maurice would be decked out in a gown just like all the other "Jackie Kennedy" clones.

I used to get a hoot out of Maurice. He would walk around in clam diggers and short sleeved tops and would wear bright colored flip flops and he always had a bright scarf on his head and a cigarette in a cigarette holder looking like Bette Davis! Ramon was very quiet, very laid back whereas Maurice was a drama queen. I remember the last time I saw him, I was about 13 and developing and I had thick eyebrows and he plucked them for me and showed me how to put my hair up on orange juice cans to get my hair to be wavy!! Both he and Ramon worked in NYC in the garment district, Maurice was a buyer and Ramon was into costume design. They both lived to be clear into their 60's. So I guess I have always had a good relationship with gay men. Lesbians, not so much and not because I am homophobic, I just don't have a rapport with them like the men.

3 cadaver dogs have hit on this same exact dumpster. It has been checked before with bloodhounds, 2 or so times, but, it was full. It is now empty. Usually it is used for construction items from the mobile homes and RV's that surround it. It is not used for regular trash.

Could Haleigh have been placed in there, with the perp thinking it would not be checked because it's not for everyday garbage?

This dumpster serves a mobile home community 1/4 mile from Haleigh's home.
