The propped open screen door has always puzzled me. I can't see Misty doing that as a way to make it look like someone else did it. But I can see her leaving and coming back finding the door propped open and the shock of finding Haleigh gone. So, I think she has either told the truth all along or she left the house for awhile and someone took Haleigh.

You may be right. The part that bothers me is why would she prop the screen door open. It doesn lock when you close it. And the wooden door doesn't either. Of course she doesn't seem too bright.

i think I've seen practically all of Misty's appearances. I've also read some non sensical media reports. One at the very beginning reported that the young girl got up to use the bathroom. Ron and his girlfriend were talking in another room. When they turned around, the little girl was missing. Not a direct quote but same meaning.

The initial police report stated that Misty said she got up to get some water. Misty later said she got up to use the bathroom. All the talk about watching TV and about the blankets and where everyone was sleeping is just a bunch of trivia. In spite of stories that Misty was seen out partying that night, LE hasn't arrested her for lying. If they have proof of her lying, they should arrest her and pressure her to squeal on anyone else involved. She didn't have to talk to the police and the FBI 30+ hours and listen to their accusations. I don't give her credit for being able to withstand their interrogations if she is guilty. Guilty people much more experienced than Misty have signed confessions after a few hours of intense questioning.

Why is a timeline so important? Hard evidence is what tells the story. People have gone to bed at 8pm and woke at 6am to find a family member stabbed to death in the next room. The timeline was not the deciding factor in solving the murder.

misty lies repeatedly.it can't be the media's fault, when we hear her stories change , from her own mouth on tv.

If and when Haleigh is found, she will be a skeleton just like Caylee was and COD was ruled a homicide because the child had duct tape on her mouth and she did not place herself into bags and put herself in the deep woods, Haleigh will be the same way and unless there are puncture marks on her bones or other evidence like gun shot wounds which I doubt very much that she was shot, more like shaken or hit so hard that she died it will be ruled a homicide too. But it seems that LE has just sat back. They are not actively searching other than what they did at Marie's and that was based on some lead, I truly feel they don't know jack crap where Haleigh is and are gonna rest on their laurels till her body appears.

IF GGMA and Mother Teresa can be believed to have actually seen them out there, i have a hard time believing they were there at all that night simply because it took them long enough to come forward with that information. and they volunteered it, Misty never mentioned that part of the story until AFTER they had said it had happened that way. :shrug:

And doesn't it strike you as odd that if this particular event is a fabrication that they would have those kids out on the porch in the cold? With plates in their laps? Kinda uncomfortable digs for little ones. And Misty is supposed to be the best of Ron's victims, er uh girlfriends. :shrug:

According to investigators, Haleigh was last seen on Monday night around 10 p.m. in her mobile home on Green Lane. Haleigh, her younger brother and her father's 17-year-old girlfriend, Mistie Croslin, went to bed in the same room. Deputies say Croslin told them that the little girl got up to go to the bathroom around 3:30 a.m., about the same time Haleigh's father, Ronald, got home from work. When they went back into the bedroom they discovered Haleigh was gone.

I don't know the answers personally but I can easily see that it could be warm on the front porch. I sure wouldn't jump to the conclusion that they weren't eating on the front porch because it was too cold or that they were trying to give the kids pneumonia.

I caught the video of Ron before I was aware of the case. I saw a fellow tearfully talking to the reporters, with whom I now know was his mom standing by. All of a sudden, this fellow falls to the ground, wailing. Then, in a heartbeat, he jumped up and started talking to the reporter in a normal conversational voice. I tho't, I don't know what is going on here, but this fellow sure is making a show of sorrow, and it isn't coming across very authentic, if you ask me. (Which no one did, but I wanted to say it anyway.)
I don't know if Ron had anything to do w/Haleigh's being missing, but after that show of "emotion" I'm betting he knows what happened, when, and by whom. IMO

From yet another forum I'm hearing a rumor that Misty now has an attorney. Maybe the stuff is about to hit the fan. I so hope Haleigh is still alive and that she is okay. I have my own theories about what may have happened, but I don't particularly care whether I am right or wrong. I just want closure for that sweet little girl and her families. I really think Misty is guilty of something - just not sure exactly what. I keep remembering Ron's statement about keeping your friends close and your enemies closer and I believe that's why he married her. He hoped she would eventually spill her guts. I'm guessing she may be in a position now where she has no choice. I haven't checked BNN since Sunday, but I am going to check it out for the latest.

I remember reading about that some time ago. I saw a book (don't know if it's the same one I already read) @ Hastings today.

That was when I first became aware of jurors not always being advised of a defendant's past actions. In one of his trials, he basically got off with a slap on the wrist. The jurors were FURIOUS when they were told later about his past. They would have put him away for good that time, if they had known, according to those interviewed.

Unless there is a drug connection with Haleigh's death (if she is dead and there is a murder trial) I guess past drug use and activity of whatever defendant stands trial would not be allowed.

LE has never said Misty wasn't cooperative. If LE don't trust Misty's account of when she last saw Haleigh, then they go back to a time they trust. Such as the time she got out of school. They could then look anywhere from the next door neighbor to anywhere in the country. As I recall, Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped and kept a short distance from her home for quite some time.

Is the front porch on the mobilehome screened in? Was the door between the porch and the living room open? I don't know the answers personally but I can easily see that it could be warm on the front porch. I sure wouldn't jump to the conclusion that they weren't eating on the front porch because it was too cold or that they were trying to give the kids pneumonia.

I think that everyone connected to a tragedy like this are often accused of various things without anyone knowing the real facts. Maybe I should just ignore what people post whether I disagree or not. But I find it hard to do. These things seem to mushroom. Posters may start by saying that they think a person is guilty, then they say other people are covering for that person,. Before long, everyone is covering, lying or involved in some bad way. A simple statement by a ggm can turn into proof that it's all a big conspiracy. All without knowing the actual truth.

I don't think anyone is bad or stupid or mean for posting their viewpoint. I just have a different set of life experiences than everyone else and therefore may disagree with others on certain subjects. An example of that would be the OJ murder trial. If I had been one of the jurors, I would have been seen by the other jurors as an obstinate trouble maker. I don't see this case as being similar to OJ's trial, I use it only to make a point.

One of my beliefs is that you can't solve a problem with too few known facts. A neighbor said he/she saw the kids playing in the yard around 5 pm. The ggm said she came over around 7 pm when Misty and the kids were eating on the porch. It has also been said Misty's brother and his two sons came over for a while. Reportedly the A/C repairman was there for a while. I don't know if any of this is true. We have some proof of the A/C man because LE said they interviewed him. Is the neighbor lying because it was too cold for them to be out there? Maybe. Is the ggm lying? It's possible. Is Misty guilty of murder or helping with Haleigh's abduction. Possibly. Did the kids eat on the porch? Possibly. Haleigh hasn't been found and we are still in the dark.

I haven't read much on this board since it first started and IIRC, he pulled into the driveway from work and she told him at the front door Haleigh was missing. Am I dreaming this? In addition as to whether or not they were talking on the phone as he was pulling up or not, there is the confusion of how Misti came to realize Haleigh was missing. I think 3 versions, but I can't remember them all. And, where were they sleeping? First, they were all in the same bed, then it seems Haleigh was in a different bed, but same room.

Then again, we don't really have all the inside info on what exactly Misti has told LE. In fact, some of the information from family and friends, we don't know exactly when they first informed LE, just when the media found out what was told. IMO

The bully in Mo was Ken Rex McElroy and he was a real SOB and a total Baturd!!! He raped, robbed and pillaged and every cop in the county was scared to death of him, not to mention the town folk. He murders in cold blood an old man that owned the general store, walked right in and shot him because this loser was mad because the old man accused his son of stealing candy which the little brat did because he was heading to be as much of a loser as Dad. He raped many women and they were too scared to press charges, he stole live stock, he stole bird dogs, he would not pay a bar tab or the grocery bill and his whole clan was made up of two POS wives who had his kids, I think he had a total of 9 kids and he would use the women to intimidate town folks like following them around in their trucks. One cop was bound and determined to get him and he was charged with murdering the old man, but before he ever went to trial, the whole town got together and blew his sh*t away right in the town proper.

He was reported to have over 40 shotgun wounds and his truck was blown to hell too and they all did this in front of his 2nd trashy wife. This town had been dealing with this puke for over 20 years and the men got together and decided that they were gonna kill him because he was already intimidating jurists for his trial and they figured he would walk on the murder charges so about 50 guys became vigilantes and to this day, no one will tell who fired the first or last shot and I say good riddance! The cops did not do jack crap, so these people were at their end with this POS and took the law in their own hands. And you guys, this POS was disgusting! This moron from Iran was speeding and was going too fast to make a lane change because he was trying to get over to make the exit ramp, he cut directly in front of the tanker and to avoid hitting him the tanker hit the 9 Mile Bridge and the whole shabang went up in flames, destroying the bridge and about 500 feet of the interstate and the tanker and the driver barely escaped being burned to death and several other vehicles were right in his path too and those drivers literally had to dive out of their cars into the median! Bolding mine. If I were to say that to a policeman who stopped me for whatever traffic violation I performed, I don't think he would be impressed one iota. When I would appear before the judge, I am sure he would (after picking himself up from laughing off his chair) tell me that it is MY responsibility to become familiar with the traffic rules before I tuck my little keister into the driver's seat. I don't think I would get off with a little measly speeding ticket, I'd probably be charged with wasting the court's time for protesting the ticket!!!! And that is just a normal traffic scenario, not even one that created havok and almost killed people!!!

It's gonna happen more and more. Last month as DD was getting her license renewed, there was a lady who was doing the eye test. She told hubby what the letters were, he translated that to the DOT person. Everything was translated. Now, how the heck is she going to read any traffic signs if she can't read English? A few days later, a car was in the 5 point intersection (which really has 6 streets leading into it.) No right turn on red from any direction. Some lanes are specific for left hand turn, some going straight or right had turn. Guess the lady couldn't read the arrows, either. She would go forward a few feet, stop. Go, stop. Thanks so much for the warm welcome. I was so busy yesterday I couldn't find the time to get on here and I nearly fell asleep on my keyboard at 8:00 pm. Up this morning at 3:30 - yuck. It's going to be a long day.
I hope they are close to solving this case. My thoughts have been that Haleigh was taken either by someone who had an axe to grind with Ron (drug debt) or one of Misty's cohorts seeking retribution for Misty stealing her man. Initially, I was pretty convinced that Ron was the perp and he either ratted someone out or owed someone big bucks for drugs. I also considered that he lost his temper and accidentally harmed Haleigh. I'm not quite so convinced of that now. Since Misty has lawyered up I have begun to wonder what SHE did. Maybe she lost her temper. She travels with a pretty questionable crew and seems to make enemies as she covets men. I think everyone tends to think in terms of the perp being a man. I'm not so sure. I wonder, too, about Amber and Nay Nay and whether they may have played a big part in Haleigh's abduction. At this point, nothing would surprise me. Satsuma is a nest for thieves, killers, sex offenders, whores, pimps and mostly trash and LE seems unable to clean it up or they don't want to. I still wonder about why they sent Tim Miller of Equisearch away. With all that skill and ability the case may well have been solved by now. I hope and pray everyday that Haleigh is alive and well, but I frequently have doubts. Too much time has passed. What a world we live in today!!! JMO.

My thoughts have been that Haleigh was taken either by someone who had an axe to grind with Ron (drug debt) or one of Misty's cohorts seeking retribution for Misty stealing her man. Initially, I was pretty convinced that Ron was the perp and he either ratted someone out or owed someone big bucks for drugs. I also considered that he lost his temper and accidentally harmed Haleigh. I'm not quite so convinced of that now. Since Misty has lawyered up I have begun to wonder what SHE did. Maybe she lost her temper. She travels with a pretty questionable crew and seems to make enemies as she covets men. I think everyone tends to think in terms of the perp being a man. I'm not so sure. I wonder, too, about Amber and Nay Nay and whether they may have played a big part in Haleigh's abduction. At this point, nothing would surprise me. Satsuma is a nest for thieves, killers, sex offenders, whores, pimps and mostly trash and LE seems unable to clean it up or they don't want to. I still wonder about why they sent Tim Miller of Equisearch away. With all that skill and ability the case may well have been solved by now. When there is DNA proof that they have committed a sex crime, especially against a child, give them the death penalty. That will help prevent the crimes that occur against young children. If they know they will fry maybe they will think twice. The cases I have seen the last few years turns my stomach inside out. I live in a nice family oriented neighborhood and our elementary school doesn't allow children to walk to school or back home unaccompanied by an adult- very understandable in this day. My grandson attends this school and if I am unable to get him to school he has to be bussed (one block away). I think it is outrageous that our children are no longer safe to go one block!!! His Dad goes to work at 5:00 am and his Mom works in another school and has to be at work early. I take care of his baby brother and if he happens to be sick I'm in a real pickle. Fortunately, the school is aware and they are very helpful. My kids went to this same school and back then we would have never dreamed that things would be like this. In the summer, they would go out to play and return for lunch - back out and in for dinner - back out and they knew they had to be home as soon as the street lights came on. I never had to worry about them and it was the same for everyone in the neighborhood.
These judges that hand out a slap on the wrist for very serious crimes are the reason things are so bad. Then LE can't do their job because of organizations like the ACLU, etc. God forbid a perp is denied their civil rights!! We do see an awful lot of cases that seeming could have been prevented for any number of reasons and especially if multiple LE agencies had shared information, and that pisses me off to no end. But even though I support the death penalty, I'm afraid that it would make for more corpses. Unbelievable!!!!! First, I don't think she should get another trial. But, since someone thinks that's a good idea, I really, really, don't believe she should be out on bond whilst awaiting. In a TX case, the ex-cop was let out on bail awaiting his re-trial because the jury recommended a sentence of 15 years, and they found out later, if they had made it 15 years and 1 day, he would NOT have been out while waiting. The jury was totally po'd about that, as they well should be. Anyway, you'd think, with her sentence being a tad bit longer than even 15 years, there would have been no bond. (Even if we are talking different states.)

I don't know what the judge is thinking in any of this, but no ankle bracelet? If this judgeship is an elected position, I sure hope the voters in the great state of MI remember this next time she comes up. No matter the outcome of the second trial. Well after six months maybe I've forgotten, but I thought that along with the AC guy, LE had cleared the sex offenders in the neighborhood with the exception of the one who was on the lam. (Has he ever been located?)

Tim Miller and his Texas Equusearch Organization are well known and well respected in the missing persons world. Tim has become a hero to many not only because of his humble personality and gentle disposition, but also because he is willing to mobilize his group of volunteers quickly to lend expertise to searches for missing persons.


Miller and TES arrived in Satsuma and searched Friday-Monday, February 13-16 before suspending the search and returning to Texas.


In several interviews, Mr. Miller made reference to law enforcement encouraging his group to leave. Some say this was so they could return to a tactical search versus ground searches while other people are perplexed that the PCSO seemingly halted the efforts of this well respected group of experts.

The Families of Missing HaLeigh Cummings to Hold Events in Honor of Her Birthday



Balloon Release

HaLeigh Cummings has been missing since she was taken from her Satsuma, Florida home on February 10, 2009. In a few days, this five-year-old girl will have been missing for six months. In a few more days, she will have her 6th birthday. Her family prays and hopes she will be returned home safely in time to celebrate that birthday.

HaLeigh's biological parents are holding two separate events in mid-August to raise help raise awareness nationwide that this child is still missing.

The paternal family of HaLeigh Cummings is inviting people across the United States to join them in a balloon release on August 17th to honor HaLeigh’s 6th birthday. The balloons will each contain a flier with HaLeigh's information from the FDLE Missing Child website.

HaLeigh's father, Ronald Cummings, stated, “I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that is helping with HaLeigh’s birthday balloon release. Please bring my baby home. I love her and I miss her with all of my heart.”

HaLeigh’s family is very thankful to all those that are joining the family in honoring HaLeigh on her birthday, as well as in helping to keep HaLeigh’s picture out in the public eye.

Ms. Teresa Neves, HaLeigh’s paternal grandmother said, “I hope that somebody will see HaLeigh’s flier and it will help bring my baby home to the family who loves her and misses her dearly.”

Here is how you can participate:

1) print out a HaLeigh’s flier from the FDLE Missing Child website link below.

2) You can then take the flier to any location where a helium balloon can be purchased – purchase either a red or a purple balloon, which are HaLeigh’s two favorite colors – roll up the flier, insert it into the balloon, and have the balloon inflated.

3) The family is asking everyone to release the balloons on August 17th at exactly 2:16 p.m. EDT in honor of HaLeigh’s 2:16 a.m. birth time.

The family feels that the 2:16 p.m. release time is a perfect time to honor HaLeigh’s birth. “We would be in the middle of HaLeigh’s birthday party if HaLeigh was home with us, so that is the perfect time to release the balloons,” said Ms. Neves.

Why did TES leave so abruptly?

Tim Miller and his Texas Equusearch Organization are well known and well respected in the missing persons world. Tim has become a hero to many not only because of his humble personality and gentle disposition, but also because he is willing to mobilize his group of volunteers quickly to lend expertise to searches for missing persons.


Miller and TES arrived in Satsuma and searched Friday-Monday, February 13-16 before suspending the search and returning to Texas.


In several interviews, Mr. Miller made reference to law enforcement encouraging his group to leave. Some say this was so they could return to a tactical search versus ground searches while other people are perplexed that the PCSO seemingly halted the efforts of this well respected group of experts.


Miller made some telling comments that may give us a clue.

I wonder, could the PDM employees look around themselves? I know LE doesn't want regular citizens to do searches, but, heck, if LE isn't going to, someone should. IMO.

I was going to ask if the family brought this type of information to the attention of LE and demanded they search.....DUH!!!! Of course not, @ least not the Cummings side of the family. I think my brain went dead there for a minute. It's too bad 20/20 or some show would not do an hour on this case just to get national attention. Not everybody watches NG etc. Pressure on LE might move things along. That is one of the big problems with this case. You can not know the players without a program. Know what I mean? There are just too many people shooting off their mouths that should not be involved in talking unless they are a part of the case.:shrug:

Little teeny town of Coleman MI just saw it's first murder in 20 plus years this am. A 15 year old boy has been charged with stabbing to death one boy and critically injuring three others, in fact one had to be airlifted to a trauma center in Flint. Apparently, this occurred at a foster home, and that the accused was living there and one victim is believed to be the foster Dad, but police are keeping things close to the vest, however, they charged the boy this pm as an adult and from what I can gather, he was already a criminal and was very troubled!! Now I live as the crow flies, about 5 miles down the road and that close, it is unnerving to say the least!!! Now I support the DA for charging the boy as an adult because when you stab 4 people and murder 1, you should not be afforded the luxury of being tried as a juvenile, where you could serve as little as a few years and then be returned to society!!!

How many people form New England remember the case of the two 12 year old girls, who were tortured, raped and one was murdered in Essex Junction VT in 1981? The boys that did these heinous crimes, were 15 and 16, and despite the fact that the 15 year old had a juvie record a mile long, he got charged as a juvie and was out of the facility when he turned 18, he changed his name and it was Jamie Savage and took off for parts unknown. The other scumbag, Louis Hamlin Jr, was charged and convicted as an adult and got a 45-life sentence and he is not up for parole until 2025 and if I am alive then, I plan on writing to the parole board asking them NOT to let him out, he should have gotten a total life sentence, but at that time, this was the harshest sentence they could hand down. Now both of these scuzzbags had been in trouble all their lives.

Savage's mother was a drunk and a hooker, who actually used to pimpout his sister, and Hamlin's father was already a CSO, in fact, as of today, they both are in the same prison in KY, Daddy raped a 6 year old girl right after being paroled from raping a 5 year old girl!!! Now the bleeders of the world would blame the parents right? Or they fell through the cracks of the system? No, they chose to be evil, and what they did to those girls... They sodomized them with tree branches and a pipe, they stabbed them, they choked and raped them and laughed about it!!! One girl survived, but since this horror, her own brother who she was close to, has been in trouble himself, for rape. Savage should have been charged because at 15, he had already racked up felony charges, set a cat on fire, was suspected of burning down a garage, had hit and beat various social workers who tried to help him and instead, he got basically a walk and I wish I knew what this scumbag had changed his name to, I would hunt him down and tell his whole hood!!!

And of course relatives are already posting to out paper what a wonderful boy he USED to be, some are blaming the system already, and around here, you could be the worst dirtbag out there, and people will post about how wonderful they are?

Daddy is currently doing 14 years for assaulting a neighbor with a gun and Mama is just an alcoholic welfare queen, one of their kids was ran over by a car on a major highway at 10 pm and he was all of 7? And this trash had the balls to blame the poor man that hit him? The kid shot right out in front of him and he had no time to brake, but who is the real culprit here? How many normal people would allow three young kids from age 5-8 roam the highway? And then in May, their oldest spawn was killed when she refused to stop for a cop and she drove herself into a phone pole and she was carrying drugs with her? All of their friends and family wrote about how good this trash is, "what good parents they are"??? SO I was not surprised to see people stick up for this kid??

I think the time for "feel good" law and order is over. It didn't work, that's for sure. All about the warm fuzzies for some deviant who murdered, raped, tortured, set fires, etc etc etc. So, someone didn't have a nice, loving, supervised youth. Look how many millions might not have, but managed to become productive members of society? Those who did NOT--probably have some innate trait in their personality that, no matter how softly they are treated with kid gloves, no matter how many "help" groups they are required to attend whist in prison--they are going to be murderers, rapists, arsonists, etc etc etc. These people should never breathe another free breath of air again. Where are the warm fuzzings and feel good feelings for the people who will become their victims? Surely, the powers that be in the legal field get the picture that, after even 2 or 3 times that this kid keeps doing something extreme, s/he is NOT going to make a 360 and become a poster child for innocence and nice.

The past history of defendants many times aren't allowed in the trial--so jurors have no idea they are dealing with a POS who has probably done on more than one occasion the crime they are being tried for. They have to look @ the evidence and testimony as if this was an angel who somehow veered from the straight and narrow the first time in his life. And, there are even some places where the jurors who decide the sentencing aren't allowed to know of past crimes. Like the McElroy case in MO that has been mentioned (was it on this thread, or the Caylee forum-actually, it has been discussed several places.) One time McElroy DID go to trial, and was found guilty of whatever, he was given a pretty minor sentence, the jury thinking this is his first offense. The change of venue thing--it was moved to a place no one seemed to have heard of him before. They were pretty darn sore when they found out about his extensive record--because the ones interviewed said that if they had been aware this wasn't his first run-in on this type offense, they would have put him away for a long, long time.

And I have never understood why previous crimes/offenses are not an automatic part of any trial. I know it may not pertain to the current crime being tried, but to be able to misrepresent a client as an angel when they have rap sheets miles long just does not make a lick of sense to me. All priors should be considered but NOT time served for any of them. Obviously if they were going to straighten up and fly right, they would have done so long ago.

The longer this drags out, the more foreboding I have for Haleigh.

Maybe next time I post somewhere on these boards I'll let you know my feelings and opinions on crime and what should be done about it. :biggrin:

I am writing this as a catharsis and a way to forget about that POS and some of him in the book is true, I have always suspected that he molested more children than we think and I also have always thought that he is capable of murder as he is one evil MF! So when I finish this, you all will get a copy and Loretta, you wanna be a part of it, you can sister!!! All of you can give me examples based on your lives and your careers and I will use it in the book!! Wind, your storyline(s) sound great! I'm a Cancer (zodiacally!) so anything having to do with the moon kinda fascinates me. I think the hunter's moon is the full moon following the harvest moon and falls in a period of time when there is literally no darkness between day and night giving the hunter an advantage over his prey. Does this have anything to do with your title? I think it's fabu, especially given that a serial killer is perceived to be all dark(ness). Good luck! :beer:

I consider timelines very important in prosecuting and defending someone in court and to a lesser degree in solving a crime. In this case, LE has whined that their failure to make any progress is Misty's refusal to provide them with a timeline. That's the point I don't agree with. If Misty was 95% retarded rather than whatever she is, would they make that same excuse? I don't fault them for not being able to solve the case, I fault them for saying she is the only thing standing in the way. Do they have proof she knows what happened? If so, they should arrest her for withholding information. If they don't have proof, they should keep their opinions to theirselves. IMO

Once she said she never knew Ronald Cummings to be a violent person, she has gone on the side of untruth, cuz I can't believe for one minute that there is one person, especially an adult person, in Putnam who has not heard and/or seen the violent side of Ronald Cummings. Her judgement, IMO, isn't too square on what with saying she wanted her daughter to be 18 before she married, then signed the papers for her to do so!!!!:confused:

i think I've seen practically all of Misty's appearances. I've also read some non sensical media reports. One at the very beginning reported that the young girl got up to use the bathroom. Ron and his girlfriend were talking in another room. When they turned around, the little girl was missing. Not a direct quote but same meaning.

The initial police report stated that Misty said she got up to get some water. Misty later said she got up to use the bathroom. All the talk about watching TV and about the blankets and where everyone was sleeping is just a bunch of trivia. In spite of stories that Misty was seen out partying that night, LE hasn't arrested her for lying. If they have proof of her lying, they should arrest her and pressure her to squeal on anyone else involved. She didn't have to talk to the police and the FBI 30+ hours and listen to their accusations. I don't give her credit for being able to withstand their interrogations if she is guilty. Guilty people much more experienced than Misty have signed confessions after a few hours of intense questioning.

Why is a timeline so important? Hard evidence is what tells the story. People have gone to bed at 8pm and woke at 6am to find a family member stabbed to death in the next room. The timeline was not the deciding factor in solving the murder.

One thing I don't understand is why LE makes the particular statements that they do. Maybe they would have been better off to say nothing from the getgo and let the public draw their own conclusions from the players' statements and/or behaviors rather than trying to fill in the oh so many blanks.

Yep, someone prolly screwed up by not taking into consideration the phone records. And that might depend on whether they used a cell or a landline. I think our local provider, CenturyTel doesn't record phone logs for landline service. (Think I remember that from Nona's case.) I guess that depends on the service area, but it's hard to believe that Satsuma is more sophisticated than Central AR.

Florida has a reputedly horrific foster care system, so it would be a shame to stick Junior in that snake pit, but you have to wonder if he hass a relative anywhere who's not a lifetime scofflaw. :shrug:

it seems like lisa croslin was one of the people who told about ron having a fight with cousin joe, 6 months ago...somewhere & i think it might be the police report, the officer says ron was known to carry a loaded weapon...guess she didn't know that.imo

Cummings speaks for the first time since arrest


WELAKA, Fla. -– 24 hours after making bail at the Putnam County Jail for a burglary with assault charge, Ronald Cummings invited Action News to his home to speak about what the next few weeks will hold for him and his family. Monday will mark six months since his daughter disappeared from their Satsuma home. One week later is Haleigh’s 6th birthday.

“I just try to stay strong for Haleigh, that’s all,” said Cummings.

Sitting in a rocking recliner at his home, Cummings was wearing the t-shirt made for him with his daughter’s face on it. All around his home are reminders of the little girl who was about to turn 6-years-old on August 17th.

“I’m never going to give up on my child. What father can give up on their child?”

Cummings says there are several things bothering him about the investigation into who took his daughter from his home. He says the thing that bothers him the most is that Sheriff’s Officers are not giving him weekly updates on how the investigation is going.

“They don’t contact me to let me know what’s going on. You’d think once a week, or once every two weeks they’d contact me and let me know what they’re doing to try and find her. They act like they don’t do anything,” said Cummings.

“It would make me feel better that they’re letting me know what they’re doing to find my daughter. It’s not going to make me feel great until my daughter comes home.”

Ronald’s grandmother Annette Sykes showed Action News never before seen photos of Haleigh during her first birthday party. Sykes says every one of her children or grandchildren always get their own birthday cake at parties to do with as they please. In the three photos Sykes showed Action News, one photo shows Haleigh smiling with her hand on the cake, the next shows her scraping her fingers along the frosting, and the final shows her with a mouthful of cake grinning from ear to ear.

“The only way to go on is with hope that my daughter will be home when I wake up,” said Cummings.

Ronald says each of Haleigh’s 5 birthdays have been spent with a big celebration. He says they always ended with a birthday cake.

“Birthday cake, some kind of a party whether it’s a skating rink or pool, just party with her friends,” said Cummings.

Action News confirmed with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office that the investigation into Haleigh’s disappearance has not gone cold. Investigators say once a month they meet to discuss any and all leads, and compare notes. We have also learned the chief investigator has changed, and is now being headed up by a deputy who was one of the first on the scene of the disappearance back on February 10th.

Ronald tells Action News he plans on holding a candlelight vigil for Haleigh at his church on Sunday. He also says on the 17th, he and his family will launch balloons in remembrance of her birthday. Cummings says each of those balloons will have a flier with her face and information on it so wherever it pops, someone will see her face.

Crystal Sheffield, Haleigh’s mother, is also doing something special to honor Haleigh’s birthday. Sheffield tells Action News several of her relatives will be at Riverfront Park in Palatka from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accept donations of school supplies for Browning Pearce Elementary School, the school Haleigh attended. Only school supplies will be accepted, no cash.

Cummings says the bottom line is that the focus needs to stay on finding his missing daughter. He says all of the drama behind family squabbles doesn’t mean a thing until his daughter is back home.

“Thank you anyone who is helping find my daughter, I appreciate it. And if you have my daughter please return her, and if you’re watching -- baby I love you,” said Cummings.

well quite frankly it seems that the law does not apply to Ron at all. sure he can spend a few hours in jail, but after that its all good for him to continue doing what he does, so i doubt he has lost any weapons.

Bounty Hunter William "Cobra" Staubs Wants His Freedom Back

One of the people at the center of the Haleigh Cummings case is William Eugene Staubs, aka "Cobra," a bounty hunter from Fort Lauderdale, FL, who has been involved in several high profile cases over the years, including the O.J. Simpson case and the take-down of an alleged terrorist in Fort Campbell, KY.

Despite an impressive record, which, by his count, includes the capture of over 8,000 fugitives – 199 of whom he says were child molesters – Staubs now finds himself at the center of his own criminal investigation – a case which he claims has been manufactured to silence him.

According to Staubs, he got involved in the Haleigh case just weeks after the tot was reporting missing by her father, Ronald Cummings.

"Pastor Richard Grund (father of Jesse Grund – Casey Anthony's former fiancé) got a call from a woman who was involved in the case, and she told him that there was something really wrong going on in this little girl's disappearance," Staubs said in an interview with Criminal Report Daily. "She said 'we need some type of investigator. These people are poor; they don't have any money.' So Pastor Grund contacted me, and we discussed it. I asked him what he thought and he said, 'I will tell you right now; it isn't going to be easy. It is going to be dangerous, so I suggest you prepare yourself.' So I called journalist Art Harris and asked him to come down to Satsuma to go behind the scenes with me, and I headed down there to get started."

Staubs says that within his first week in Satsuma he was able to meet with Haleigh's family and local police, during which time he uncovered a lot of inside information in the case. In addition, he also claims to have actively searched wooded areas in an attempt to find Haleigh.

"I worked an average of 20 to 22 hours a day every day," Staubs said. "Art Harris went with me, probably 5 to 7 days; in some cases, 16 hours a day. I conducted interviews and intense searches on land and in the swamps. I had to do stuff in the middle of the night because, you know, if you are walking around, somebody would shoot you. Also, I wanted to get into the underground, so I checked clients to see who is out on bond, and I got a list of names. I took that list, and I met with the sheriff, FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) and the assistant state prosecutor for Putnam County. I met with all these people, opened up all these files, laid them out and asked them if they had a problem if I go out for these folks right here. They asked me what I wanted them for, and I told them that some of them are wanted back by the bail bond agent and other ones I wanted to talk to and see where they are and, chances are, we might be revoking a few of them. They didn't have any problem whatsoever. Art Harris also filmed some of that and watched that interview go down."

One of the people Staubs was zeroing in on was a man who was free on bail after being arrested for alleged sex abuse. The individual caught Staubs' attention because of his alleged crimes and his allegations that he had attempted to donate furniture to the Haleigh Bug Center, a place where search volunteers would meet up. According to Staubs, the man's visit to the center – where children are often present – was a direct violation of the individual's bond. Staubs says he contacted the agency that held the bond and then went to the man's house on March 20, to pick him up.

"The insurance company that guaranteed the bond gave me the file," Staubs said. "I am a licensed agent with full arrest powers and everything, so I called the law to tell them I was going. When I got out there, I blew the horn and I heard a shotgun or something go off. I called the police and said 'There's a problem,' and the defendant started screaming at me, so now we are off to a real bad start."

Moments after arriving on the scene, Staubs was joined by two police officers, who stood watch as he threw the man to the ground and handcuffed him (click here to view video of the event as shot by Art Harris) before putting him into his vehicle for transport to the county jail. It was during that trip that Staubs says he received a call from people at the insurance company, who, he claims, said they had changed their mind, and told him to release the man.

The company in question, Continental Heritage, has not returned calls to Criminal Report Daily regarding the case; however, in a May interview with artharris.com, they said they never gave Staubs permission to make the pick-up.

"Cobra called me to say what he wanted to do, and I made clear [that] he in no way represented Chuck's Bail Bonds, C.E. Parish or Continental Insurance. As a private citizen, he can go talk to someone, but I told him, 'Do not represent yourself as an agent of the company," general agent Roger Capener told Harris, adding, "I just don't understand Cobra. He's made pickups before, even caught a terrorist with bombs. But after he called a friend of mine in the business to intercede for him on Snodgrass, I said, 'Where is this guy coming from?' Then he calls back and says, 'Don't worry, I got the guy handcuffed.' I said, 'Are you CRAZY? Are you nuts? Have you lost your mind?' You don't do things like that, even if you have permission from a company to go talk to a guy.' He's a loose cannon. Who would give permission to wrestle a guy to the ground and put handcuffs on him? That's an instant lawsuit in our business … What Cobra did was stupid."

As a result of the incident, Staubs was arrested and charged with a single felony count of false imprisonment. He was placed in the county jail and held for a brief period of time before being released on a $5,000 bond.

"They told me that what I done was illegal and I asked them to please look at the state statute - that I am equal to a police officer and that I have the right of arrest and I can detain him for as long as I need to," Staubs said. "It doesn't say in the statute that if, at any time, the insurance company starts arguing with the pickup guy, that you can charge him with false arrest or false imprisonment. You can't. They violated me … What it's come down to is the insurance company is trying to protect their assets and everything. They say we never authorized him, so now I am in a fight … They are charging me with one statute and another statute says I am innocent."

Staubs believes that the entire ordeal came about, in part, due to information he uncovered in the Haleigh case – information that he says made certain people uncomfortable.

"I tried to help them in any way I could," he said. "Me being a bondsman and a private investigator, I can work real good. [If] they didn't want me there, they should have had the nerve [to tell me] just like they told Geraldo [Rivera] to leave [and] Tim [Miller] from EquuSearch to leave. They should have told me, 'Hey Cobra, we got this. I appreciate everything you tried to do, but we got this and you're kinda making some folks nervous.'"

According to Staubs, prosecutors have offered him a deal in exchange for admitting he was wrong; however, he claims to have turned it down.

"They offered a deal. They tried to give me a PTI [pre trial intervention]. Well a PTI is 18 months, but the problem is there is a clause in there that I have to admit that I did wrong. If I did that - being an officer of the county - my testimony would no longer be reliable."

If convicted of the charge against him, Staubs faces a 5 year prison term and the possible revocation of his bondsman license. Neither option is very appealing to him; however, he says the possibility that he might miss his daughter's upcoming wedding weighs on him even more.

In addition to his fears, Staubs also has regrets and wonders now whether he should have ever gotten involved in the Haleigh Cummings case.

"I probably shouldn't have [gone] up in there trying to help nobody, I reckon, because a good deed was punished for sure. I just want to get my freedom back. I don't care if I have to move to Belize or something. [They should] leave me alone. Let me figure out how to get my life back [and] get my money back so I can get to my daughter's wedding. I ain't no dadgum zero. I am a hero."

Neither the bail bond agency involved in the case nor the Putnam County Sheriff's Office returned calls for comment.

Drew! How the hell are you??? I was just watching them bring up the helicopter from yesterday's crash in NYC and what a shame that this happened. Apparently, the plane clipped the copter and it might have been survivable if they were not so high up, about 1,000 feet and it brought back a memory of a crash I witnessed in NJ when I was a kid. It was a foggy night and my parents and myself and my aunt and uncle were doing Xmas shopping and we had just gotten out the door of a mall when we saw the plane, which was a DC-10 commuter hit a high rise and my aunt started flipping out because one of her co-workers lived there and all we saw bodies and flames and debris raining down and my Dad grabbed me and threw me under a car and I remember seeing the pilot land on a car and he just exploded for lack of a better term and it seemed like it took forever before help arrived and all the people perished on the plane and 17 people died including my aunt's friend and this was one of NJ's worst crash. The pilot was off course, he was aiming for Teterboro and apparently did not see the building? It had those red blinking lights on the top of it? Now in this crash yesterday, the plane clipped the copter and the rotor blades tore the wing right off the plane and none of these people stood a chance because they were too high in the air and probably were seriously injured or some might have already died. And then today, here, they found the wreckage of a small plane that took off Friday night in bad weather, yesterday here, it rained and stormed all day, hampering rescue efforts because LE figured out he probably had crashed and he was found about 30 miles north of me, remind me not to get on a plane for awhile!!!

As for this trash, WE ALL KNOW that Misti is the whole key to this and I still think LE is not doing enough because she comes from white trash and is not the daughter of Donald Trump, I think when they say they have leads, that they are just spinning their wheels and as for this asshole? Why not he call the sheriff's dept himself?? I know I would be every day and I would not care if they liked it or not? I guess Ron thinks he's so special that LE will give him updates and he shouldn't bother to ask about "his daughter". Oh, my bad. I think I heard him actually utter Haleigh's name in that latest video. What an interesting comparison to Kelly Currin Morris' father. He has turned his business over to his family so that he can devote 100% of his time to searching for his daughter (North Carolina) and others who are missing.

That is the only way you can carry one is to have the permit. Now, if he has one in the home and does not carry it concealed then he does not need the permit. However, if he does carry it, he has commited a felony just carring it. He could also be charged with presenting a firearm if he points it at someone or threatens to point it or use it. That would be cause enough to take the weapon from him.

And to sit down and do an interview to get the focus on Haleigh is galling. I remember one of these scumbags lived in NH and she got immunity for testifying against them and that was Linda Kasabian and this girl is scary! 20 years later, my ex and I are at a club in NH, one we went to a lot, and she walked in there and people just froze!! She was dating one of the bar tenders and people were not digging that at all and the owner told her that she was not welcome and he came out after the club closed to find all his tires slashed and someone had pissed on his car too!! Gee, wonder who did that???

I saw her one other time at a mental health meeting I went to with a friend of mine and she was a guest speaker and that was about 2000 and she looked like hell, life had not been good to her and I knew that she had been beaten up a lot by her husband who was a real creep, seen it in the court section in the paper. I wondered what happened to her baby because when she first came back to NH she was pregnant and this pissed off a lot of people who were thinking about Sharon and it was reported to have been Manson's and we heard she gave it up for adoption so if that is true, there is a Manson running around NH and that makes me nervous!!! I would agree with all but guns. Being exposed to guns is not what has ruined people like this. Now the drugs/drug deals and skanky friends I would agree with. My son was around the shooting sports for a lot of his life and made money by helping me prepare the brass and lead when I reloaded handgun ammunition. Now, he was schooled on what to do if he saw a gun and what not to do. He was taught respect for firearms and how and how not to handle them. He attended gun shows and EVERY time he handled a firearm at one of these shows he would ALWAYS check to see that it was not loaded before looking at it. Now we know that they are not loaded at a gun show and never are but he was taught to always check and he did.

It is not the exposure to hand or other guns that messes you up but how and who teaches you. There are adults who should never be allowed to handle a gun and there are some young people who handle them just fine. It is all in who teaches you and how you are taught. A gun sitting on a table will not kill you. It must be picked up and fired. Therefore it is the person who does the killing not the gun. That would be just like blaming an automobile for killing a person on the side of the road and not the person driving the automobile.

Haleigh's family remains divided 6 months later
Grandmother wants peace but sees too many issues


Six months into the unsolved disappearance of Haleigh Cummings, those who deeply love her believe she is still alive.

It’s about the only thing the two families closest to the investigation of her disappearance agree on.

With Monday marking the six-month anniversary of her case and next week’s arrival of her sixth birthday, her divided family has even scheduled separate events in Putnam County.

“It doesn’t matter what anybody says, we just want the safe return of Haleigh,” said Annette Sykes, whose grandson Ronald Cummings is Haleigh’s father. “Nothing else matters.”

Cummings and Crystal Sheffield, the long-estranged parents of Haleigh and her 4-year-old brother Ronald Jr., see each other only to exchange the boy at a pre-arranged stop in Florahome, about midway between Cummings’ home in southern Putnam County and Sheffield’s in western Baker County.

Tension between Cummings, Sheffield and their families has hummed like high-voltage background noise since the beginning of the case.

Sheffield’s mother, Marie Griffis, said law enforcement authorities have asked the two families not to have contact beyond the exchanges of Ronald Jr.

“I feel like that maybe if the families could speak with each other and put differences aside that maybe it would help the case, but there is too much going on down there and it is being pushed our way to blame us for what happened in Putnam County,” Griffis said from her home outside Sanderson where Sheffield also lives.

She said her family has been accused of abducting Haleigh and hiding her with family out of state.

She said she has no idea how her granddaughter vanished but said the kindergartner was living with Cummings and his 17-year-old girlfriend when she was reported missing.

“I don’t know what, I don’t know how but they were the last people to see my granddaughter,” Griffis said. “They’re the last two people to see her. They’re accountable for her whereabouts.”

Cummings said he and former girlfriend Misty Croslin — who he has since married and is now Misty Cummings — have been unfairly targeted.

“There should have been more attention to Crystal’s family,” he said. “I think they should have paid more attention to everyone rather than just me and Misty.”

He said questioning should have been broader.

“They didn’t have the big picture,” he said. “Why do they not question everybody?”

Cummings: It went ‘personal’

In recent interviews at Sykes’ Welaka home where Ronald Cummings, 25, and his wife live, he told the Times-Union the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office focus was shortsighted.

Standing outside wearing T-shirts with Haleigh’s likeness, Ronald and Misty Cummings said they gave dozens of hours of interviews in February and March, including her longest, which she said occurred just before the couple were married.

“I think the longest time I was in there was eight hours,” she said.

Ronald Cummings said the investigation went in the wrong direction.

“They took a child-abduction investigation and made it a personal investigation,” he said. “Instead of keeping the focus on finding Haleigh, they made the focus on Misty and what she was doing one weekend and what happened six months ago and what happened seven years ago. It was tunnel vision.”

Cummings has cut off interviews with investigators.

“Besides ‘No I didn’t have nothing to do with my child being missing,’ what do you say?” he asked.

Maj. Gary Bowling, director of law enforcement for the department, said detectives would like to interview Cummings again but have been resisted.

The interviews with Misty Cummings have produced different pictures, he said. She was alone with Cummings’ children the night Haleigh disappeared. She has told authorities she woke up about 3 a.m. and found the 5-year-old missing.

“We’ve said from day one Misty’s story is absolutely filled with inconsistencies,” Bowling said.

Cummings was at work the night his daughter vanished and came home as the 911 call to authorities was being made.

He has not worked since that last night shift, then lost his job because he did not stay in contact, according to the company. Cummings said he has not been able to find another job and does not know if he can go back to work.

“Each day gets harder and harder,” he said.

He moved from the mobile home where Haleigh vanished and said he still cannot go there.

“We don’t even want to be in that area,” he said.

Cummings, who has a minor criminal background, was arrested early Thursday after an altercation with a brother of his wife and her parents.

Sykes, who saw part of the fight, said Cummings’ arrest was another difficult turn, a distraction from an attempt to heighten awareness of Haleigh’s disappearance.

“We’re trying to do something positive for Haleigh and then something like this happens,” she said Thursday.

Theories abound

Pressures have come from all sides and been kept alive on the Web where bloggers argue and speculate, said family members and others in the case.

Griffis said she has become accustomed to accusations.

“If there is inconsistencies that the police know about on our side of the family, they need to come question us,” she said. “I want them to question us.”

Mainstream media attention has waned, she said.

“All the interest is just that, it is in the blogs,” she said.

She has been accused of masterminding an abduction, that Haleigh is somewhere with other family members, she said.

She has asked to take a lie detector test and was given a voice stress analysis.

The next step should be for detectives to name those who are no longer suspects, she said.

“You need to start excluding the people that you know do not have this information,” she said.

Bowling said it takes rock-solid alibis before detectives can eliminate anyone and those have not been established. He said the best that can be done is assign degrees of suspicion to people.

“Where is the responsibility in saying somebody is not a suspect?” he said.

Sheffield, 24, is more blunt about Cummings.

“I really do feel like he is covering for Misty and she is covering for him,” she said.

In the early months of the case, a small, vacant building in Satsuma was painted purple and opened as an information center and informal listening post near the Satsuma neighborhood where Haleigh disappeared.

The Haleighbug Center was closed after Sheffield had medical problems that included seizures. Shirts and posters, donated toys and other items were brought to Baker County where Sheffield lives on family property with her fiance, their toddler daughter and his two children.

“I searched all I could down there,” she said. “My body couldn’t take it.

“Sometimes I sit and I think and I think and I think about where she could be and it drives me crazy.”

Griffis said the sense of loss deepens every day.

“It is just a lot of not knowing,” she said. “We are constantly questioning why this happened.”...

Posters with Haleigh’s face that were once pasted to storefronts and car windows are fewer and fewer.

At Ronies Food in Glen St. Mary, a laminated poster still stands beneath a window sign advertising a lunch menu.

Jamie Taylor, whose family owns the restaurant, said taking it down would be like giving up. She said it seemed as if detectives never had much to go on.

“It’s kind of hard to take it down,” she said. “I know if it was my daughter I wouldn’t take it down until she was found.”

Both families hold on to the belief that Haleigh is alive and have organized reminders of her upcoming birthday and that it’s been six months since she’s been seen.

“I believe she is still alive,” Griffis said. “And that Ronald and Misty they are the key to it.”

Among the events will be a school supply drop-off and a prayer vigil the families have organized independently. A balloon release is scheduled to increase awareness that she remains gone.

“We don’t want World War III,” Sykes said. “It doesn’t matter what anybody says we just want the safe return of Haleigh.”

6 months and not one molecule of this child has been found and we all know that she is dead and more than likely died that night. I posted over on Art's site and told him what I think of this trash, but I do feel for Crystal and Junior. I read today on My Fox in FL that if he gets a candy bar or a toy from someone he asks them to buy one for Sissy too and if that ain't enough to even thaw out my frozen heart I don't know what could. Crystal says that he knows someone took her and he asks if when he lies down at night, for God to bring back his sissy and that he has a hard time with nightmares and to know that this little boy is so anxiety ridden and heartbroken makes me want to go to Fl in the worst way and kick Misti's white trash ass all the way to the jail whereas she would give it up to me because I would not let up till she did! And to think that this scumbag and her have custody of the child makes me sick!!!

I have very good news for you all!! I have a new baby!!! Her name is Nyanna, and how I came to have her could only be described as divine intervention!!! My sister was gassing up her car this am and she saw a black guy in a mini van hurl something out a window and to her horror she realized it was a kitten!!! And on a busy highway at that! She went running over and grabbed her before she got hit and she got a partial plate # and another guy got the rest of it and this piece of dog crap was arrested at his home for 1st degree animal cruelty!!! He tried to deny it, but when the deputy told him that people witnessed it, he admitted he did it, what a complete loser and you know my ass is going to court! She brought her over to me and already I am wildly in love! And what is eerie, is how much she looks like my beloved Nyja!!!! She does not have the extra toes that she had, but she is silver with black toes and green eyes and she is very affectionate and also smart! I showed her the litter box and she used it right off and she is of good weight though and she sustained no injuries and I put her age at about 8 weeks!! She can eat out of a bowl and I gave her some tuna and she woofed it right down! Right now, she is sitting on my shoulder as I write this, trying to play with my hair and I am so thankful to have her!! Even Phaedra, while not exactly thrilled, even has gone over and sniffed her and played with her a bit, it is like she senses that the little one needs some help!!! And here I am happy with my new baby, but no one can bring back Crystal's and can't bring peace to a little boy and that sucks!!! I just wish that loser twit would give it up, but she won't, she is only thinking of herself and surely was the night she killed Haleigh and I damm her to hell for being so selfish, she could have simply told Ron she did not want to play house, and just dated him, but she figured hey, I don't have to go get a job or exert myself and I still think that Haleigh witnessed something that she did not want her to and in a fit of rage she hit her and being only 5 and tiny, she died and what was she to do? Called up buddy Nay and they put her somewhere, she had until 3 am till he came home to dispose of the body and like I said, those doors cinch it for me. A snatcher, kinda in a fever pitch like Couey was, but he did scope out the Lunsford's home, would want to rush in and grab his intended victim and not have time to prop up the door with a cement block??? No, no one scoped out that home, someone who lived there KNOWS about those doors and not a snatcher and her name is Misti.

Haleigh Cummings - Has Satsuma Forgotten?

This article tugged at my heart strings. It proves to me that there are decent people out there. Armando is a gentleman that I have great respect for. Unlike so many others that prefer the safety of their own computer, he took some time out to actually visit Satsuma. It was by no means his first visit, he and his young family lived not far from the area when Haleigh Cummings first went missing. One would think that with the little girls 6th birthday, and the 6 month anniversary of her disappearance, a small town like Satsuma would be a buzz - Simon

I wrote this article simply to help in the finding of Haleigh Ann Marie Cummings. As everyone knows this little girl was abducted from her home in Satsuma Fl, but not many have had the opportunity to go there themselves and see the suspicious settings and rural areas in which she could have vanished into. I took it up on my self to drive there and have a look around shall we say. But with one thing in mind to see how many fliers or post about Haleigh I would find. I never intended to go there as a spectator or some hero but rather a concerned citizen worried about the whereabouts of a missing child, I was able to take a few pictures that kept me thinking.

The streets were empty. The locals spoke about football games and fishing. The police I noticed seemed to be having a normal day. The sad thing to me about all that was that I was minutes away from Haleigh’s house and not one rose bush on the side of the road, or a sign reading “WE MISS YOU HALEIGH”, no memorial or sign of a community morning a missing child. I know to some it may sound harsh but not even a poster or flier saying MISSING CHILD! As I drove closer my heart began to beat faster with the thought “what if this was my child?”

I stopped at Monroe and Green Ln and started to wonder if I should do this. The whole trip, the whole mission sort of say was simply to see how the community was taking the whole thing, how many fliers or posters or memorials or any awareness of Haleigh missing I saw. So far nothing, but I was confident that maybe in her street would be different. I made a right on Monroe and slowly drove through, scared, anxious, just wanting to see something that represents the little girl who everyone has become obsessed with (some for good some for bad) missing, and again nothing. Nothing on HER road, nothing.

I drove through this dirt road and the trailers are not as bad as some may perceive. The trailer next to where Haleigh once played around and ate her meals and lived in was empty. So I figure I would get out of my truck and look around. I stood at the trailer which pointed directly to the back door where Haleigh was taken out off. My heart sunk to the ground as my prayers were silently mumble to myself and God. I just stared in disbelieve.

I quickly called my wife who was picking up our oldest daughter from her aunts and broke down on her. Broke down knowing that this could have been my child innocently living her life, and some scum individual can lurk through the shadows preying on her. I took some pictures and left immediately. I jumped in my truck and punched the pedal down and ripped through this community that does not even have the decency to post a simple flier for Haleigh. On my way out I stopped at the St John’s River Club and several gas stations and even MeeMa’s and nothing. They know about her but no signs. Seems the whole town is under wraps.

I did this just to see what attention Haleigh was receiving in her home town, seems to me like the bloggers care more. Sorry but it’s true. I’ve read a lot of comments and some are positive wishing Haleigh well and others are frustrated asking for answers. And the truth is we are all entitled to our own opinion. Whether one agrees or the other doesn’t. We all have a genuine concern for this little girl. And that is why Balloons for Haleigh seem so right to me. Because in the mist of all of us disagreeing and bickering, on the 17th we have one common; filling the sky with purple and red balloons. The ones that wish her well, and the ones who think the family is involved, and the ones who just want her FOUND. We no longer have that uncommon but now we all agree on releasing these balloons into the air. Now that’s sharing a common.

In ending, everyone from TJ Hart to Simon, Cobra and all of those who comment and post and blog and call in with your opinions to Simon’s show are doing more for Haleigh then her own community. I did not see not one flier or post asking for Haleigh Cummings whereabouts. Not one memorial in her honor. No red and purple ribbons around trees. NOTHING. I left my daughter’s teddy bear at Haleigh’s intersection. I did not see anything else! Whether it’s because they have been instructed to or threatened or maybe they just don’t care if Haleigh went missing. I don’t know that’s up to us to decide as the ones who care that Haleigh Cummings is found.

This is not to take shots at any member of the Satsuma community; it was simply to see how many fliers or post was seen. None.

That's about the only good news coming out of Satsuma...the attorney has good credentials. I often wondered if there would be counseling; such a traumatic event for Jr definitely needed some followup. I have started a book about a serial killer in NH who turns out to be a cop and I have been working on it now for about 7 months, I write a little each night, usually have signing off here and I am up to about 23 chapters and while I don't expect it to be on a Best Seller list, I am hoping that I can submit it to various editors like the Literary Guild? It is pretty damm good if I say so myself, I based it on that scumbag cop who stalked me and I even used his name, and if he does read it, he can't do a damm thing about it, his name is common enough. I have the novel setting in southwestern NH and even used the real towns and some police officers I know, I changed their names and I have used some names of friends and people I know. I am writing this as a catharsis and a way to forget about that POS and some of him in the book is true, I have always suspected that he molested more children than we think and I also have always thought that he is capable of murder as he is one evil MF! So when I finish this, you all will get a copy and Loretta, you wanna be a part of it, you can sister!!! All of you can give me examples based on your lives and your careers and I will use it in the book!! The beginning of the book starts out that two hunters find the body of a young girl that had gone missing 4 months earlier and in the next few days, they find two more bodies of other missing girls, and that is the start of the book and that is all I am going to say at this point except for the title which is Hunter's Moon.

Write on Wind! Your experiences have not made you bitter enough to become abusive and writing is absolutely cathartic! Along with that, your words will help other people deal. I like your style! I've always been one to beat the reasons people harm others, to death. I can't wrap my head around the evil and yet part of me knows these abusers and killers are living out their own pathology. Yep. And if Ronniepoo will beat her brother with her and everyone else trying to pull them apart, it's only a matter of time before she gets caught in the crossfire (or worse). Cummings is the one arrested but it sounds like everyone was guilty of stupidity in this instance. Kinda surprised the Po Po didn't run 'em all in.

It's all absolutely insane. Ron won't agree to Junior having counseling, but his own granny tells the media that he can't sleep and she finds him in the floor crying and praying. Sounds like he could use some time on the couch himself. (In fact, that sounds more like guilt than grief, but hey! what do I know?)

I can't imagine the nightmare of having a child missing--what is worse, to not know where she is, dead or alive, or to have a murdered child. I don't want to find out. BUT, I know there are thousands of families in this country who are also facing this heinous nightmare, but in most cases, it seems someone in the family eventually has to return to work, because most normal families understand that the bills have to be paid some way, and in most cases, while there may be some help from the community, it can't be counted on ad infinitum---so, whether the dad or the mom or maybe both don't feel like it, in most cases, someone does go back to work to support their families. I would imagine that most also keep in contact w/their employer to find what needs to be done to keep the job open for them, and to learn when they would need to be back to work to keep that particular position.

But, this case and the Anthony case don't seem to follow the norm in pretty much every aspect. IMO

ITA, Amy. Ronnie is a con. He hasn't been looking for his daughter or a job. It burns me that they're asking for donations to support this deadbeat. I'm sure they're receiving state assistance as well. Probably one reason they got married. JMO. :flamemad:

Ron needs to man up IMO. I've read that Crystal is working and we've read that she has health issues that on the surface seem serious. Maybe if Ron spent eight hours a day "earning an honest living", he could sleep at night. And maybe he wouldn't be so touchy when the inlaws show up.

So, he was so concerned that people knew he was earning an honest living then, why wouldn't he want to now? Maybe he thinks that, because he was earning an honest living when his daughter was abducted, he is exempt from having to do that any more? Zero respect for that judge. But they're humans just like the rest of us and they make stupid mistakes just like the rest of us. Too bad this guy's may have cost Haleigh her life. Hope he gets a clearer picture of what's going on with Cummings when this next hearing comes up.

Father of missing Haleigh Cummings questioned about headless rat
The dead animal was found in an in-law's mailbox

Ronald Cummings, the father of missing Putnam County 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, has been questioned about a headless rat found in an in-law's mailbox.

Cummings' brother-in-law Hank Croslin Jr. told investigators he found the dead rat in his Satsuma mailbox Saturday and feared for his life. A fight between Croslin and Cummings two days earlier resulted in Cummings' arrest.

A neighbor of Croslin's reported seeing Ronald Cummings' truck stop at the Croslin's mailbox around midnight the night before.

The neighbor said the truck moved down the street, turned around and drove past with Cummings driving and someone else in the cab, according to a Putnam County Sheriff's Office report.

Cummings and a second person were interviewed later Saturday and denied knowing about the rat.

Cummings and Croslin fought early Thursday when Croslin and his parents came to the mobile home where Cummings and his wife, Misty Cummings, stay with Cummings' grandmother.

Ronald Cummings was arrested and charged with felony burglary with battery.

In the report, Croslin Jr. said he feared retaliation.

New Accusation In Putnam Family Feud
Legal Accusations Continue As 5-Year-Old Remains Missing

SATSUMA, Fla. -- The dispute between the families involved in the life of a 5-year-old girl who disappeared six months ago continues to grow. The latest accusation involves a headless rat left in a mailbox.

Haleigh Cummings disappeared Feb. 10 from her father's home where his 17-year-old girlfriend, Misty Croslin, also lived. They have since married.

Last Thursday, the father, Ronald Cummings, was arrested after a fight with his new wife's relatives. He posted bond and was released later that day.

Cummings claimed his in-laws started the fight and he signed an affidavit against his brother-in-law, Hank Croslin Jr., and his father, Hank Sr.

On Saturday afternoon, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office was called to the Croslin's home again, this time over a dead rat found in their mailbox. Deputies were told that a neighbor witnessed Ronald Cummings' truck slow down just after midnight and the driver placed something in Croslin's mailbox.

The deputy who investigated the complaint wrote that Hank Croslin Jr. and his parents told him they felt threatened by Ronald Cummings.

From the incident report:
"Hank stated that he knew Ronald owned several guns, and was afraid Ronald was going to show up and cause problems at the residence. Hank also said that he believed the headless rat found in the mail box was a sign from Ronald that he was going to kill him."

Deputies contacted Cummings, but the sheriff's office would not discuss the case. Lt. Johnny Greenwood did issue this statement on Wednesday:
"This incident is not related to the investigation of missing five year-old Haleigh Cummings; therefore, we will not be participating in interviews or providing statements regarding this incident. Our only objective is, and always has been, finding Haleigh Cummings and returning her home to her family."

Cummings also did not want to talk about the incident, saying only "authorities will work things out."

Cummings never married Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield, who now lives in Baker County and has been openly suspicious of Ronald Cummings' involvement in the girl's disappearance.

The Sheffield family is planning a balloon release for Monday, which would be Haleigh's sixth birthday.

Since the day Haleigh went missing, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said it believes the girl was abducted from her home in Satsuma.

After searching thousands of acres on foot, on horseback and from the air, following thousands of leads and interviewing dozens of people, the sheriff's office still doesn't have a suspect in Haleigh's disappearance. A reward of $35,000 has not broken the case.

But, the bottom line is that Ronald's actions are the ones that seem to keep things in the spotlight other than finding Haleigh. I don't suppose that he might have tho't he would find Haleigh in the mailbox, or that a headless rat would somehow point to where she is? Nah. :shrug:

Haleigh's father is accused of placing rat in in-laws' mailbox

The saga of the search for Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings, the 5-year-old Putnam County girl who has been missing since February, took another twist Wednesday, when police announced that her father was accused of leaving a decapitated rat in his in-laws' mailbox, days after a fistfight with the same in-laws landed him in jail.

Ronald Cummings' brother-in-law, Hank Croslin Jr., told police Saturday that he found a rat in his mailbox and suspected Cummings of putting it there "as a sign ... he was going to kill him," according to a police report.

Croslin, 23, signed a charge of retaliating on a witness against Cummings and an unnamed juvenile. In March, Cummings, 25, married Misty Croslin, 17, but it was not clear whether she was the listed juvenile.

Cummings, who denied the allegations and agreed to speak with a detective about the incident, has not been formally charged. The State Attorney's Office is reviewing the case, Assistant State Attorney Chris Kelley said.

Lt. Johnny Greenwood, a spokesman for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, said the department released the report Wednesday after fielding several inquiries about it from reporters, but many of the documents related to the case could not be released.

"We're really not giving out any information on this thing," he said.

Cummings was arrested Aug. 5 after getting into a fight with Croslin and Hank Croslin Sr. on the front yard of his grandmother's house in Welaka.

Cummings allegedly entered his in-laws' van to punch the younger Croslin, and he was charged with burglary with assault or battery, a first-degree felony punishable by life in prison.

He was released from jail on bond the next afternoon, and Kelly said the State Attorney's Office is reviewing the burglary charge to determine if it has a case, standard protocol with felonies.

Cummings' mother-in-law, Lisa Croslin, told police she, too, thought he put the rat in her mailbox and said "she had several small children living with her at (her) residence and was afraid that Ronald would come there causing further problems with her son."

A neighbor, Patricia Kay Pierce, told police she was watching TV about midnight Saturday when she saw Cummings drive by her home with the juvenile in the passenger seat.

The juvenile's name was redacted from the police report.

Pierce said she saw one of the two get out of his truck and put something in a neighbor's mailbox.

Monday marked the six-month point since Haleigh was reported missing from her father's Satsuma home on Feb. 10.

Greenwood said investigators don't believe the recent tension between Cummings and his wife's family has anything to do with the girl's disappearance, but it is taking attention away from the search for her.

"We're focusing on trying to find Haleigh," he said, "and we don't want to be distracted by these little issues."

Gosh, we all agree that these distractions are well, distracting. Why doesn't Ron understand that? Evil? Drug induced psychosis? Bad wiring?

And not sure how/why investigators would think this has nothing to do with Haleigh's disappearance. Hmmm Must be hidden in the unreleased documents.

Is animal cruelty ever a little issue? Or was the rat already dead and merely decapitated saving it from pain or torture? And where did someone even find this rat? Sounds like someone's been doing some serious dumpster diving or needs to clean house. :shrug:

I think you're right Deacon. Shows you how stupid ron is, as if we didn't know he was stupid before.. lol! He didn't finish.. dummy Cummings. THis is going to spiral further down the dumb ladder. IMO. I know this family is nuts and my only concern is the little boy. I wish someone would rescue him soon. He needs a chance in life.
