Yep, he's the one. If memory serves, he is the one who originally brought Cobra to Satsuma, but later Johnny Sheffield's mother picked up Cobra's contract. She's the one who was literally holding the bag during the March search.

Haleigh Cummings' mother fires lawyer

GLEN ST. MARY, Fla. -- When Action News showed up to Crystal Sheffield’s home in Baker County, we were welcomed into her mother’s living room. Inside is a makeshift memorial where a candle is burning. Crystal says that one candle is an “eternal candle”, and she says it will stay lit until Haleigh comes home.

Something not so eternal is the relationship between Crystal and her former lawyer Kim Picazio. Sheffield has decided to end her relationship with Picazio after many months of legal representation.

Sheffield says she’s tired of hearing rumors about the investigation being leaked out from inside sources. She believes maintaining a relationship with Picazio will do more to harm the case than help it.

Haleigh Cummings’ father, Ronald Cummings, has also released his legal representation. Cummings was formally represented by the Putnam County legal group Kimball & Snider. The following is a statement sent to Action News by his former legal team:

“This office has been successful in handling the DCF investigation and resolving family law issues between Ronald Cummings and Crystal Sheffield. We undertook this representation pro bono as a public service to not only Ronald Cummings, but to the citizens of Putnam County in the interest of clearing up these controversies. There are no pending legal matters involving Ronald Cummings. We are ending today our representation of Ronald Cummings on good terms. Our website, findhaleighnow.com will remain online but will not be updated.”

Kimball & Snider went on to say that the DCF investigation into Ronald Cummings is over:

“This office has been advised verbally by Attorney Kevin Caldwell of the Palatka office of the Florida Division of Children and Families that their investigation is closed with no factual finding of abuse against Ronald Cummings. We are awaiting the written report. Ronald Cummings Jr. will continue to reside with and be in the custody of Ronald Cummings. Ronald Cummings and Misty Croslin Cummings have both agreed to take parenting classes, which is a standard precaution that DCF seeks.”

As for Sheffield, she says she will continue to do fund raisers and anything else that will keep the name Haleigh Cummings in the media.

A Mental Health Professional weighs in on the DCF Ruling
It took some scrambling but I was able to make contact with an expert that was able to help us to better understand what this DCF ruling really means.

On the heels of the release yesterday of Florida’s Division for Children and Family Service’s report that there is no finding for the removal of Ron Jr. from the primary custody of his father, Ronald Cummings, it’s important to note a few harsh truths about what children’s services across the country consider child abuse.

It’s a well-known and long-suffered fact among child advocates that the level of injury sufficient to document abuse that necessitates removal of a child from the home of a custodial parent needs to rise to life threatening or at the very least permanently disfiguring. Arizona state laws puts it starkly, “Abuse means the infliction or allowing of physical injury, impairment of bodily function or disfigurement.” Pennsylvania law states the case in similar terms, “Abuse is an injury that causes a child severe pain or significantly impairs the child’s physical functioning, either temporarily or permanently.” National standards, which Florida mirrors, say: "Any recent act of a parent which results in death, serious physical harm, sexual abuse, or exploitation.

In other words DCF’s findings, whatever they might have been in this case, did not include recent life threatening or permanently injurious acts on the part of Ronald Cummings. The report does not state that DCF failed to find that harm has come to Ron Jr. In fact, the recommendation, as reported by Mr. Cumming’s former attorney, that both Ronald and Misty will undertake, in Ronald’s case re-take, parenting classes indicates that there is reason to believe that significant concerns might have been raised by the investigation. In a radical change of policy, it’s been reported that in 2003 DCF relaxed even further its criteria for child abuse, elevating the standard to “dangerously abusive” and instituting the requirement of parenting classes in cases that would formerly have indicated the removal of children who had suffered injury.

DCF’s relaxing of the abuse criteria was rationalized at the time when the director of Florida’s social services said, “DCF now understands that family preservation and child safety are not at odds." Unfortunately, that’s a fragile balance that is all too often suffered by the children whom the state is charged with protecting. Removing fewer children from custodial parents who have been accused of abuse and minimizing costs to DCF means nothing less than fewer children who will continue to suffer at the hands of parents who are not equipped to raise children.

So far in this case not one official has taken on the role of riding in on a white horse and pursuing justice for Haleigh or care for Ronald Jr. Unfortunately, that trend continues.

In summary, more than 70 Florida DCF workers have lied about their efforts to protect children by falsifying records and lying about their efforts on the job.

Specific Examples from the article: (quoted)

“Despite passage of a state law intended to punish cheaters, dishonest caseworkers remain a persistent problem in Florida's system to protect at-risk children:
•The day after a caseworker reported that she had inspected a foster home in Wildwood, police found its four foster children living in tents in the yard. The house had no running water, no food and no clean clothes.
•After a Hardee County social worker lied about making home visits, one child wound up living with an uncle awaiting trial on child-rape charges.
•Two children in Hernando County lived, for a time, with a grandfather who had been arrested two years earlier and accused of physically abusing his own child.”

Barry University Law Professor, Gerard Glynn runs a legal clinic that represents primarily minor DCF clients said that the cases mentioned above are only the “tip of the iceberg.”

DCF workers complain of heavy caseloads and few face prosecution for their role in failing to protect children. Half of the documented cases of of falsification were committed by employees of agencies with whom Florida DCF contracts to supervise child safety cases. The other half were committed by actual DCF employees.

A chilling quote from the article………… “However it happened, the false documents often reported that children were safer than they truly were.”

A long time successful foster mother spoke of a caseworker who was supposed to come every month but did not and in fact only visited once in nine months.

The article is long and extensive, but it is timely and details the reasons we all need to be concerned about Ronald Cummings Jr’s safety in spite of DCF’s findings announced today.

In March, an attorney representing the children's mother, Crystal Sheffield, said there was evidence of abuse in the household.

Haleigh Cummings disappeared from her Satsuma home on Feb. 9.

Haleigh went missing from her Satsuma home in Putnam County in February. Her father's then-girlfriend, 17-year-old Misty Croslin, said she put Haleigh to bed Monday night and realized the girl was missing right before Ronald Cummings got home from work several hours later.

Croslin and Cummings married in March.

Picazio chose not to go on the record when asked how this decision came about. However, Crystal Sheffield's mother, Marie Griffis, claims Picazio was fired over alleged inside leaks in the investigation.

Apparently Ronald Cummings has released his attorneys as well as indicated in this written statement from the Law Office of Kimball and Snider:

In summary, more than 70 Florida DCF workers have lied about their efforts to protect children by falsifying records and lying about their efforts on the job.

Specific Examples from the article: (quoted)

“Despite passage of a state law intended to punish cheaters, dishonest caseworkers remain a persistent problem in Florida's system to protect at-risk children:
•The day after a caseworker reported that she had inspected a foster home in Wildwood, police found its four foster children living in tents in the yard. The house had no running water, no food and no clean clothes.
•After a Hardee County social worker lied about making home visits, one child wound up living with an uncle awaiting trial on child-rape charges.
•Two children in Hernando County lived, for a time, with a grandfather who had been arrested two years earlier and accused of physically abusing his own child.”

Barry University Law Professor, Gerard Glynn runs a legal clinic that represents primarily minor DCF clients said that the cases mentioned above are only the “tip of the iceberg.”

DCF workers complain of heavy caseloads and few face prosecution for their role in failing to protect children. Half of the documented cases of of falsification were committed by employees of agencies with whom Florida DCF contracts to supervise child safety cases. The other half were committed by actual DCF employees.

A chilling quote from the article………… “However it happened, the false documents often reported that children were safer than they truly were.”

A long time successful foster mother spoke of a caseworker who was supposed to come every month but did not and in fact only visited once in nine months.

The article is long and extensive, but it is timely and details the reasons we all need to be concerned about Ronald Cummings Jr’s safety in spite of DCF’s findings announced today.

Both Attorneys Out in Haleigh Case

97.3 The Sky learned Thursday afternoon that the attorneys for the biological parents of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings of Satsuma may have been released.

Kim Picazio, the attorney representing Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield, on a pro-bono basis confirmed by telephone to 97.3 The Sky Thursday at 6:31 p.m. ET that she had filed the paperwork in court earlier that day for termination of representation.

Picazio chose not to go on the record when asked how this decision came about. However, Crystal Sheffield's mother, Marie Griffis, claims Picazio was fired over alleged inside leaks in the investigation.

Apparently Ronald Cummings has released his attorneys as well as indicated in this written statement from the Law Office of Kimball and Snider:

“This office has been successful in handling the DCF investigation and resolving family law issues between Ronald Cummings and Crystal Sheffield. We undertook this representation pro bono as a public service to not only Ronald Cummings, but to the citizens of Putnam County in the interest of clearing up these controversies. There are no pending legal matters involving Ronald Cummings. We are ending today our representation of Ronald Cummings on good terms. Our website, findhaleighnow.com will remain online but will not be updated.”

It appears to be as much strange as it is ironic that both lawyers are out at the same time.

At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy freak, I'm not surprised that DCF unsubstantiated the abuse against Junior. For one, he wasn't killed or disabled by whatever he suffered at Ron's or Misty's hand. And also, it would be tantamount to an admission that the court AND THE JUDGE erred the first time in granting Ron custody when (according to Florida law) HE KIDNAPPED Haleigh from Crystal.

At times I have been frustated also with children staying in homes that were totally inappropriate in my eyes. It really has to be very serious here in MA as well. I have had only one child removed after I reported what I thought were very serious issues. I bet there are just not enough workers to handle all the issues in Fla. It really is a sad commentary on the number of kids who are with low lifes and suffer one way or another because of it. But false records
are another story. No excuse for that.

Woo, I feel your pain from here and I remember having to do CHINS orders and the deputies having to go out and remove kids from homes and half the time it boiled down to no abuse of any kind is substantiated, sometimes it would be a disgruntled parent trying to get back at the other one for having custody so what they do is have the child or children tell a social worker or a teacher that mama or daddy is beating them and bingo, we got to remove a screaming child from a loving parent that has done nothing wrong. Or in some cases, a parent can't handle a wayward teen, so they waste the court's time and money because they can't say the word No to them on a regular basis and then the one time they do, the kid flips out, this happened more than you could ever know. Once in blue moon it came down to a real case of abuse and the deputies would waste no time removing a relieved child from it's alcoholic loser parent. I will say this for MI, almost all the time it is abuse going on in some fashion and the kids are removed promptly. Today, and I have yet to see the evening news, around 11 am, some guy went to a juvenile facility in Saginaw and opened fire in the parking lot and luckily, no one was injured or killed and the little baturd is in custody, the only thing I can think of, he thought he would break a buddy out of jail

I tell you kids are getting worse by the day and it is because you can no longer punish them, if you do swat them, they run to a teacher and all hell breaks loose! Never mind the little brats are breaking into homes, stealing CD's at Walmart. stealing money out of the mother's purse, or worse, drinking and drugging. The parent tries to get them to smarten up, can't, calls the police and the police remove them from the home at the parent's request, and then when there is a court hearing, then Mama gets up there and tells the court that she made a mistake and little "Riley" is a good boy and she wants him to come home and then of course, this little baturd will act up again, and then he finally injures or kills someone and then she hurls herself to the floor whining he is a good boy??

I told ya all about those dirtbag teen gang wannabe's who opened fire on a car at a store and killed a 10 month old baby boy, they shot this poor child in the head because the mom's vehicle looked like some other gangbanger's car and he had dissed these scumbags somehow and during their trials, every time the camera would pan towards them, these little dirtbags would flash gang signs and showed not an oz of remorse even laughing when the father of the baby gave a heartbreaking victim impact statement. When the youngest, who had a juvie record a mile long before the murder, was sentenced to LWPOP, his loser mama flung herself to the floor and screamed that DeShawn was a good boy and he was innocent, and the whole crime was caught on camera and there is DeShawn with the murder weapon in his hand, smiling at the cameras???? Like he gave not one crap that killed a little baby who was so loved by his decent parents, I cried, when I saw the father read the pain filled statement. Had this loser mama gotten off crack long enough to care about her child, he would not be sitting in the slammer for the rest of his life!! Another case of why do people like this get to breed???

It doesn't bother me that either factions would want to increase awareness or raise money as long as the money was being used to find Haleigh. But so far as I can tell, no real searches are going on. And to stage anything should be considered obstruction IMO.

Do I think that she might have been part of the staging? Again I don't know. But what I can say is this. Those dogs did not hit on anything in the video of the searches that I saw, including her dog. I have watched those dogs work before. The going back and forth that the dogs were doing, that is the dog trying to pick up the scent. None of them picked up a scent in the videos that I have seen.

I also don't believe that Haleigh had only one pair of shoes. I do believe that Marie might not have had a pair with her, or that she might have had a pair in the vehicle that they were in and those she gave to someone. Could have been a pair that was too small for Haleigh.

I don't think it's necessary for the family to stage a search to show that LE isn't searching, that's pretty common knowledge and a big part of what honked people off in the beginning; that there simply wasn't a serious search effort. (And it still puzzles me that those dogs hit on the dumpster long after Haleigh was missing, but not earlier on. Were they in a different location prior? A location that wasn't searched?)

I have a tendency to believe the dog handler's account, since it would be foolish for her to jeopardize her relationship with LE if she intends to continue to assist them in the future. Seems to me that all of the Sheffields and Griffises and Regans knew what was going on that day.

But since this case is such a sh!t magnet, anything is possible.

Florida may very well have one of the worst systems overall whether by actual law or due to personnel. Frankly I don't understand why slackers and malingerers apply for those positions. It's high energy work that never stops and you can't leave it at the office. Not for the feint of heart or lazy.

As I said before, I lasted all of four months working for the welfare dept as an intake worker and I hated it!!! Talk about stress?? I had to hand newly pregnant welfare queens another amount in their checks and hook them up with everything else, illegal aliens same thing and guys who might have cut their hands off with a chain saw, I had to deem "ABLE BODIED" and had to deny them any cash assistance and medical and could only give them a paltry amount of food stamps. This guy I speak of, I knew, he was a hard working lumber jack and he was cutting through a large tree and the chain slipped on the saw and it went right through his wrist severing it and luckily, he was able to get it re-attached but doctors were not sure if he would ever have full use of it and I had to deny him and I put my two week notice that day and I had not even lined up another job and I did not even care!!! I don't know how people do this job for years without wanting to go completely loco because I knew I had made a mistake the first week I worked. Having to sit there and be polite to this slampig who would rather be labeled as such rather than divulge who the father of her 5th illegitimate child is because he is also living with her and living off her or should I say the children and if you claim you don't know who the father is, the more money goes into the check!!. I had to tally up her new check amount and every time I did this,. I felt like taking a shower because I felt dirty and I also thought I was ripping off the taxpayers!!! I had this misguided notion that I would be helping people less fortunate than I and these hos brought more home than I did just for spreading their legs!!! I would go home and drink!! My husband at the time, could not even bear to hear about my day and when I told him I quit, he was happy happy!!! Mama happy, he happy!!

I remember 30+ years back, my recently divorced sister, now single mom to a 1 and 3 y/o, applied for assistance. She got a job, rented a trailer, had a hoopty car to get to and from work. She wanted some food stamps so her boys could eat more than mac and cheese and hot dogs. Nope, could not do. They WOULD give her a medical card. She explained that she was getting insurance where she worked (and this was a non-professional position, minimum wage) and really only needed some help to feed her babies. No could do. No assistance on rent or anything (it would decrease the $50/month child support from her ex, altho he never, ever paid her any.)

So, she is in the grocery store with 3 or 4 dollars, trying to find what she could for her boys. She purchased her mac n cheese and hot dogs (could do it for that back then) and got in line. The people in front of her had TWO carts filled to the brim. Girls with fancy little dresses, daddy with $300 alligator boots, AND FREAKING FOOD STAMPS!!!!!!

I know that there are a number of people (of all races, mostly hispanic and white here) where the little woman swears there is no man in the home, just her and her little ones (no man, but the baby is just a couple of months old, "mommy" is usually pregnant again, but no man.) Of course, she can't be expected to leave the little ones anywhere (the state would have to pay childcare) so mommy could go to work. So, you know it isn't just subsidized housing. She has NO MONEY, so her rent and utilities are paid, she gets the food stamps, PLUS WIC because of the little ones. And vouchers for clothing, especially if any of the kids go to school where they pay no fees, no lunches, etc. Then, the man (and it may be a different man @ different times) actually lives there. Whatever his paycheck is--is all and completely theirs to spend. He does not have to pay rent, utilities, food, medical, etc, because that is all covered by the government for the little woman who has no man in her life to support her. :flamemad:

I don't know how some get around not naming the baby daddy. I had 2 sisters and a niece who were denied any assistance unless they coughed up the baby daddy name. Period. End of story. No negotiation. Too bad, hope you find a way to support yourself and the little one(s) because you will receive no help from the state. I'm not saying that the baby daddy shouldn't be named--he should be so he could be paying some of the costs. I just don't understand how come some get the assistance whether they name the man (or in some cases men) or not. This is all in the same state, by the way.

If I am not mistaken here in Ohio they not only have to name the daddy but there is a DNA test done if daddy refutes being the father. All before they get aid of any kind from the state.

Daddies here also have the chance to deny they are the daddy, and the DNA is done. Of course, if daddy is an illegal, where are they going to find him? HOW are they going to find him? And, there's always the little back of "he went back to Mexico." Can't go across the border to get him.

There was a fellow who worked for an alfalfa outfit. I can't remember what went on, I think there ended up being an arrest for him. When all the dust settled, this guy wasn't who he said he was. He was using the SSN and documentation of someone else (who obviously strayed left of the law a lot) in order to work. And, he was paying the named fellow's child support, as it was being garnisheed!!!! :eek: He was paying it for @ least a year. Maybe he didn't understand what all those numbers on the check meant, didn't understand he wasn't getting all his money? Or perhaps he was glad enough to get to earn SOME money, he wasn't going to rock the boat. @ least he was working, and he was paying taxes.

I have a friend whose daughter got pregnant at 15, not very unusual for MI, mother at 15, grandma at 25, but she would be the first to admit it was not the brightest thing to do because she did not want to end up like her mother, just having kids and no life, but what is is, what it is and she had the baby, but what makes her unique is she has not collected a dime of welfare money, not even food stamps! This great girl worked two jobs to support her child and then decided to go to cosmetology school full time, on top of working at a pizza joint from 5-close every night! Her mom and granny babysat and this girl graduated top of her class, got a job right off at a salon and now owns her own salon and she is 19 years old!! I admire her very much and as for sperm donor? You would not believe the lengths this clown went to avoid having to pay child support!

He was the only boy she had ever had sex with, and his mama tried to make her out to be a ho, and Nicole asked the family court to force him to take the DNA test and his mama tried to fight this ,test came back 99%! He was ordered by the court to pay the back support of $5,000 and keep current at $100 a week and at first he paid, mama was paying and then he tells the court and says he hurt himself on a job, so feeble he could not even pick up a cup and I knew this brat was lying! And this loser did not even want any contact with the baby either. Well Nicole is a smart cookie! She got wind that he was roofing at a large farm, a huge barn, so we all drove out there, and there is this cretin climbing up a ladder with roofing tiles on his shoulder several times, then we saw him grab one end of an i-beam and go up the ladder again, and then we saw him back on the roof nailing squares, thank God for good digital cameras, and Nicole asked for a hearing and we go to the court and this loser shows up with a sling on his arm, and I was like, RIGHT!!!

Nicole whipped out the photos and his face went as pale as a ghost and the judge looks at them and freaks!! He screams at Jory that he was going to jail, that the only way he was getting out was to pay the whole amount he owed on the back support and if he paid it, then he was to pay $125 a week now!! He whines and tells the judge he will lose that job and the judge told the court deputy to call the company and tell them that Jory is jail bound and won't be in for a few days!! We were not privy to that conversation, but lo and behold, his mama calls Nicole that night and tells her to meet her and she hands Nicole a check for the full amount, plus six months ahead!! Did not want her baby in jail!!! And to this day, he pays. but still wants nothing to do with the child, but he has a good stepdaddy who adores him. Now she could have simply did what lots of women do here, just calve them out and live off the taxpayers and she chose a real life, where she can give the child more and they have a house on a lake and he works for the state, so they are set. They even put a trailer on the property for my friend and she still babysits.

Nicole took care of her baby and her mama and I have told often that if I had a daughter, I would want one just like her!! And all this at age 19! I remember when she graduated, she was upset because her father did not even call her, so we took her out to dinner and I bought her a shirt she had been wanting as a present. I shamed her father by calling him and he did praise her and bought her flowers and all this kid wanted was for people to think that she is a good girl, who took responsibility for herself and her child and she got it in spades! My friend Brian even gave her kudos when he stopped over at my house. And I think back at all the queens who had no shame whatsoever, coming into my office with their hands out and I knew damm well most of them KNEW who daddy was, but then if they named him, the state would go after him and make him pay support and they would deduct that from their checks and God forbid that should happen. And Amy? Do I know all about these slobs!!

They are dressed to the nines, hair freshly cut, dragging three kids, and they get to the register and all you see in the cart is junk food and it tallies up to like $400 and they whip out the FS card and their cash bennies are on the same card and they buy beer and cigarettes too??? Then you see them in the parking lot driving a brand new car!! I remember one slob who I hated with all I am. She was a rude, snotty b*tch who thought she was entitled to everything she could get her fat paws on. She was preggers with a black man's baby and I KNEW it was his, he told me? And she refused to name him, till I told her I already knew and that he was using her as he thought he was a player, she was not the first white woman to have his baby? She tells me that I had no right to ask him and I told her I didn't, he volunteered? I went to my supervisor and I asked him what I should do because I did not feel this slob should get more money as she had three other kids by various sperm donors and he tells me that I would have to go "out into the field" and document any activity?

What this meant was making a home visit which I was trying not to do, because this slob was a pig, and I ended up going to her house at 11 am and who answers the door? The three year old boy and I asked him where momma was and he pointed to the bedroom and says and I kid you not, "Mommy is playing hide and go seek with Kevin"??? It was way obvious that he was living there, he actually did work, he drove a beer truck, his shirt is laying on the couch and his boots were near the door, I saw beer bottles and I knew what brand he drank, I walked into the bathroom and his clothes were piled on the dryer and I banged on her door and told her to get her ass up and she comes out in a nightgown and I spot him sitting on the edge of the bed and I told her I was there for an inspection and the place was deplorable, reeking of cat piss and diapers, dishes with maggots,? bathroom? You needed a gas mask to go in there!! Dirty diapers thrown in the tub???

I told her that she was a liar and a slob and that I was writing up my report and that she flunked miserably and that she was not going to get any extra cash and that he was taking a blood test and if he was the daddy, his ass was paying support and she hauled off and hit me!! I ran out of the house and went next door and called the cops and they arrested her for assault as I had a bruise on my face and if she had not been preggers and 70 lbs overweight, I would have kicked her ass!! She ended up not getting another dime of assistance out of us as welfare charged her with fraud, come to find out, one other sperm donor was paying her support and on top of that she is getting more money for that child?? When this hit the papers, the hood ratted her out all over the place! The kids were snapped as she was deemed unfit and the baby? He was Kevin's. spitting image of him to be exact and he was killed one night when he was wasted and drove his car into a house so no support for the baby.

Now you see why I hated that job?? I don't know how the intake workers here deal with it, I know my worker, who while not a Walmart greeter, does not take any crap from anyone and that is why I like her so much!!! I have asked her at times how she copes and she says one word. VODKA!! I asked her why queens who get their kids snapped, but continue calving them out anyway, are not forced to either get their tubes tied or at least take birth control, and it is against their rights?? Can you dig it? VT is now cracking down on the queens career choice! Even if the kid is newborn, they still have to work at least 20 hrs a week and they will kick in daycare and if they do not comply, no money for you!! And they do not get more per kid anymore either and I think MI needs to do this, they do, but they do not enforce it much by the looks of all the queens I see here.

I think all states should follow in VT footsteps. I'm not saying there aren't people who don't need the help, because there are. I'm like you, tho, I have a big problem with those who think they should be able to live off the state, without having to lift a finger for themselves. I have a big problem w/the 19 y/o on her 4th or 5th baby, usually with @ least TWO baby daddies, if not one for each baby. One "reason" given for not getting support from the baby daddy--he's off in another relationship (or 2 or 3) and she's po'd and doesn't want to have anything to do w/him any more, doesn't want to let him have anything to do w/the baby (and in all truth, there are those baby daddies who really don't CARE that they have nothing to do w/their children.)

As Judge Judy and the bald guy, Judge Miles Lane or something like that said--you don't think the PARENT of the baby should have to help support him, but you think it's just fine to demand that STRANGERS (your friendly taxpayers) support you? When we worry about recessions and the federal and state governments running out of tax dollars to support all their programs, perhaps if they cleaned out those who could and should be working, and those who could and should be paying child support, maybe there would be money for those who actually NEED the services.

Now, before I get hit about all the layoffs and people out of work, etc etc etc, this was going on a long time before this most recent fiasco hit the fan. There have been plenty of jobs. And, if you don't want to clerk @ WallyWorld or flip burgers @ McD's, get an education or technical training in some area you like, and get a job that pays more. AND, there are all kinds of scholarships and grants and such to help pay for the education. Or, heaven forbid, follow in the footsteps of people like the girl you tell us about--work one or even 2 jobs and go to college. I've known people who not only worked full time and went to college, but also raised several kids during the process--and without government assistance.

Oh, and the other "obstacle" that seems to be listed often--there's no jobs here!!! Perhaps, some people do need to think about what people in the 30's and 40's and 50's and 60's etc did. Move to where there ARE jobs (and I know, today is a different story, but last year and 10 years ago, it wasn't.) Sometimes we have to make hard choices, and a lot of people don't want to move away from families or home towns. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to survive--on your own.

Well Amy, I can relate to getting caught in a layoff not of my doing BUT, I took a job making somewhat less than I made then and worked a lot of hours do that I could pay for the house I built about 2 years before the layoff so I know the other side of this and yes, you can make ends meet but you will not by sitting on your rear feeling sorry for yourself and whining about it. I, however, do believe that the baby daddy needs to be held responsible for what he helped create and once he has to be forced to take a DNA test he should lose his "rights" to the child.

Several sources tell 97.3 The Sky a new independent search for Haleigh Cummings has been requested by some family members. This search could possibly be spearheaded by a very well respected organization in the effort to find the five-year-old girl who has been missing since February 10, 2009.

Calls have been placed to the office of Tim Miller at Texas EquuSearch, the horsemen who have conducted numerous searches for missing children and adults over the years. Texas EquuSearch was part of the original mounted search for Haleigh in February shortly after she was reported missing from her father's home in Satsuma, FL.

97.3 The Sky has not received a response from TES at this writing to either confirm or deny the request.

I regret to inform you that a mistake was made in the information gathered Wednesday that raised the notion that a new search for Haleigh Cummings might be forthcoming.

The family remains hopeful that Haleigh Cummings is alive and will be returned home soon. The misinformation breifly seen on this site might have given some the impression the opposite was true.

My sources will always remain protected. Three such sources made the same claim to me that according to family members, a new search might be in the works. Those claims turned out to be misconstrued and incomplete information and I sincerely apologize to anyone who might have been negatively affected by the misinformation.

I have a solid record for being a trustworthy broadcaster and an incident like this truly hurts me as much as it hurts those involved in Haleigh's safe return home.

Was Ron Cummings at Work?

That seems to be the most compelling question in this case other than "Where is Haleigh?"
To date, law enforcement has said little about this aspect of the timeline other than to announce that they are "satisfied" with Ron Cummings' work hours. They have not said they are "satisfied" that he was at work for his entire shift. They have not said they are "satisfied" with Mr. Cummings' whereabouts during his shift. They have been ambiguous and in my opinion there is a reason for that.
Since the onset of the investigation there has been no confirmation but a great deal of speculation. This blogger makes every attempt to keep all posts based on fact as well as limit giving credence to rumors unless facts seem to support them. On this topic, I have no choice but to rely on the accounts of people who know best rather than media interviews and PCSO information since nothing definitive is out there as of yet.
Numerous people have made off the record statements about Ron's whereabouts that evening. I received one statement in an e mail this morning with permission to publish.
We have heard that Ron arrived to work between 8-9 PM, that he left early and was seen on surveillence video at a convenience store prior to 3 AM, the scheduled end of Ron's shift. We have heard of witness accounts that Mr. Cummings was seen in Crescent City around 6PM that evening, drunk and demanding money. We have heard that Ron was seen getting prepared to head to a known drug house to rob a drug dealer of several thousand dollars.
Ron's employer, PDM Bridge has remained quiet throughout the controversy. They have never confirmed that Ron Cummings was at work that evening. One would assume that when PDM representatives spoke with the press in the beginning, expressing their support for Ron Cummings they would have been more than glad to provide confirmation that Cummings was at work that evening, thereby clearing their employee of any suspicion for his daughter's disappearance. That never happened.
The one clear statement PDM Bridge did make was on April 3 when they terminated Mr. Cummings' employment for "abandoning" his job. PDM is a large company that accepts many government contracts. They likely have significant legal representation and would not have terminated an employee as sympathetic as the father of a missing child without good reason. Could it be that the job "abandonment" occurred the evening of February 9?
I have long suspected that Ron's termination had less to do with the time he missed after Haleigh's disappearance and more to do with the events of the evening she disappeared. This suspicion was confirmed in an e mail I received this morning.

On a construction site, probably no security footage. Maybe a guard gate and a fence though. On night shift they keep a pretty good eye on people because of the problems of people going to sleep. There could have been any number of reasons why a crane would not run. Problems, no lifts to make, and so on. Crane operators do not stay all that busy but the stress factor is high when they make a lift because of all of the resposibility. No matter what he seems like he had made it into a very good paying field.

My friend who went through Satsuma and now is living about 40 miles away said the town was pretty redneck, crappy looking trailer parks and just plain shacks, even downtown looks like a scene from Deliverance, she saw many young children out on the roads by themselves, mama's sitting on picnic tables swilling beers, and their one toothed hubbies working on crappy old trucks and she was like uncomfortable going through there in the daytime even!

So I can see why this yahoo police dept is not doing anything, they can't add two and two and yet, they are lawmen? my friend said that if all the people that night she was in that honky tonk. maybe 15 of them had all their teeth and could use good grammar, apparently the food is a big draw and that is about it and that is why my friend went there, best fried chicken around for miles! What I saw on TV of that town gave me the creeps!! So I wish somebody would find this child's body and that whoever murdered her will get punished and now it sounds like there have been more lies told and memory lapses.

Today, our Sheriff here held a news conference and declared that Midland County had solved a 32 year old murder case. In 1977, Doris Arnt a 30 year old woman came up missing and was found raped and strangled in Ogemaw County a month later. She had left a bar that was on the outskirts of town with a man named Robert Haggart, but he claimed he dropped her off at her home and the police, while they suspected him, did not have evidence to the fact and the case has been cold for 32 years. A short time later in 1980. this man murders his wife and her family and receives 7 consecutive life terms and he died in prison in 2003. Before he died, he was interviewed by a reporter from down south that was doing a piece on killers that kill multiple victims and he allegedly confessed to killing Doris, but for some reason, the reporter never told anyone from Midland County until a few months ago and DNA tests were possible because the original detective on the case who is retired kept the semen and blood samples well preserved and a detective in today's time frame decided to have them tested for DNA and luckily, they were not degraded and they came back positive to Haggart, too late he is dead, but at least Doris's family, like her husband and two daughters now know who murdered their loved one and I saw the oldest daughter tonight on WNEM and she was so grateful to the newest detective who had not given up on the case as he suspected Haggart from the minute he took over the case, but because he was dead, the prosecutor, who I think is an asshole did not want to re-open the case even though Haggart was dead.,

But this dedicated detective who to me, is a hero, wanted her family to have justice and decided to test the samples anyway, probably on his own dime and he solves a 32 year old case and my hat is off to this man! Now that is what I call a real detective! Many can be, but it only a handful of people that are this dedicated and I was pleasantly surprised because I have had dealings with the MCSD and the Midland police, especially when I lived in town and had to deal with the dregs of society for neighbors. Some of these losers would be partying at 3 am keeping us good folks awake and some of them like Sam worked mega hours and all he wanted when he came home was good sleep and the poor man ended up moving and he is a good guy, and these cops acted like I was wasting their time! What these idiots would do, was pull into the driveway where these losers could see them, quiet down and the cops would leave and I would call back and one night I got so pissed, I thought I was going to be arrested because I demanded of the dispatcher to tell these morons to park up the street and catch them in the act and it wasn't until I told her that underage kids were partying in that apt, did they heed my advice and they kicked in the door and arrested about 10 of these losers and two had drugs on them and they found an entire bottle of Vicodin that did not belong to any of them and then they actually came to my door afterward and thanked me???

So when I hear good things about these depts, I am surprised!!! The city police think they are these macho commandos and one night I went out with my friends to a bar and my goddaughter got into a dust up with this piece of hooker looking trash because she was so cocked, she kept bumping into people on the dance floor and she shoved Robi Jo into a speaker and Robi reacted by kicking her ass! The cops were called and I told Robi to go to the car and calm down and these idiots come flying into the parking lot, guns drawn and I am like huh? I am trying to explain to them what happened being the most calm person and I get a cop I call "Bullet Head" and he does not want to hear anything and and he grabs Robi roughly around the NECK and handcuffs her and her father went ballistic and I thought he would get arrested too, and the whole bar stood up for Robi and only then did this macho "man" release Robi and she pressed charges against the skank and wanted to press charges on the cop but I told her I would handle that. The next day I went to see the chief and I told him about the excessive force his cop used before even finding out what had happened and the cop was ordered to apologize to Robi and all was forgotten so you can see why I was surprised to learn there are good cops after all!

Several sources tell 97.3 The Sky a new independent search for Haleigh Cummings has been requested by some family members. This search could possibly be spearheaded by a very well respected organization in the effort to find the five-year-old girl who has been missing since February 10, 2009.

Calls have been placed to the office of Tim Miller at Texas EquuSearch, the horsemen who have conducted numerous searches for missing children and adults over the years. Texas EquuSearch was part of the original mounted search for Haleigh in February shortly after she was reported missing from her father's home in Satsuma, FL.

97.3 The Sky has not received a response from TES at this writing to either confirm or deny the request.

YO! That Justice For Haleigh site is a raft of info huh?? They sure suspect Misti and also that Ron and she's relationship at the time it started she was 16 and therefore felonious, but apparently it was OK with her trash family, so no one pressed charges and boy, some of what I have been saying all along is what this blogger thinks too!!! well, here the rules say that if the window of age difference between minor and adult is five years or less AND there is no indication of abuse in the relationship, then if the parents of the minor do not wish to press charges then the DA has no choice but to let it go.

The reality of it is much worse than most imagine. My local newspaper recently had an article reporting the statistics of preteen and teen pregnancies in America. What caught my eye was the thousands of pregnancies of girls 9 to 12 years old. There was no mention of it being a crime.

The articles focus was on sex education or lack of it. Many experts have concluded that putting up posters and airing notices on TV that advise abstinance are a waste of time. They suggest that only sex education provided by parents and teachers will do any good. A big problem is that parents and teachers are either too squeemish or unprepared to teach sex education. Many parents can't stand the thought of a teacher talking about sex with their child.

Other experts argue that sex education often creates the opposite effect of what is desired. It can create an interest in sex. The kids may think wow, there must be something in sex or everyone wouldn't be talking about it. A kid is taught safe sex and concludes that sex is ok as long as it's done carefully.

I think (!) what is mindboggling here is that we're accustomed to other countries having different customs and mores, and we know that they exist to some degree in our own country, but we don't often have them so in our face or possibly being the motive or explanation for a crime.

And regardless of whether or not Ron being a serial child molester is accepted by his community, it's still against the law. What's the point of enacting statutes that protect children if no one or no agency has the gumption to enforce them?

when i met my husband i was 19 years old and he was 14. i had known his family for about 5 years from dating his cousin who was about 2 years older than me. we had moved in together and lived together for about 2 years and he abruptly left me alone when i was 18. my parents had let us move in together only because we were living directly next door to them and in a house they owned. anyway, when he broke it off with me i continued hanging around most of his family, his brother, uncles, aunts, grandparents and cousins had all adopted me into their VERY extended family. on my 19th birthday i was at my ex's uncles house (the father of my husband) and we were all hanging out celebrating my birthday, that is when i first met Joey. we began hanging out together exclusively for a few months and we really hit it off. up until that point my experience with males had been all older than me and rather controlling as well. he was a breath of fresh air, i had never felt like i was completely accepted by someone until i met him. i was leary of our age difference at first, but when his entire family gave us their blessing we began dating. that was the first time someone had made me completely happy and i didn't feel like they were just keeping me around for free sex. about 3 or 4 months after we had begun dating i became pregnant. i debated for almost two weeks what to do. i thought about just breaking up with him and sending him on his way and never telling him about the pregnancy, but i couldn't bring myself to break up with him without telling him the truth. so i sat him down and told him what was up and told him that if he wanted to just call it quits and move on with his life i would completely understand given his age. it was a tearful conversation and at the end of it he told me no, he would not be going anywhere, he wasn't raised to just shrug off his responsibilities that way. his father let him move in with me and he continued going to high school. when he turned 18 our son was 3 years old and we were still just as happy as we were in the beginning. we went to Reno and got married, we have been married since May of last year and now we are expecting our second son in September.

i don't really remember why i started typing this, but my point is that for all the older guys i had been with and the guys that were even close to my own age, the only one who seemed completely to understand me and love me as much as i loved him was one who was 5 years younger than me. i don't know if that speaks to my maturity or his LOL but i have still never been happier, and he always talks about how i probably saved him from becoming just another drug addict in this town we live in.

that is how i know the rules for California regarding statuatory rape though. my father being a sheriff he told the DA in our county as soon as he learned of our relationship, and the DA informed him that as long as no one was being abused physically, emotionally, verbally or sexually, and the minor's family was ok with the situation then charges would not be pursued. and because we are only 5 years apart in age we fell into the window of legal relationships.

I do see Ron as a predator in that bedding and/or impregnating a number of underage girls seems to be his MO. What I don't understand is that by your account the DA stated that as long as no one was being sexual abused, etc. your relationship was okay. Maybe Cali is different, but the laws regarding statutory rape are in part bourne out of the fact that underage sex is sexual abuse.

I do know of cases in AR that have gone before the judge and if the couple seems mature for their ages and hellbent on seeing each other, the judge will allow dating if the couple agrees to counseling. Sex is not sanctioned by the court, it's illegal.

Well we are talking about the deep south here, Loretta Lynn married at 13 with her parent's blessing, just one less mouth to feed, old enough to bleed, old enough to breed and she had 5 kids by the time she was 18!!! It seems that in the deep south, parents do not press charges on a 25 year old for boinking their 16 year old daughter and you try to pull this off in VT, you will be charged whether or not the parents consent because anyone over the age of 18 is an adult and a 16 year old girl has no say in the matter. Now here in MI the age of consent is 17 so I do believe the same applies. And that whole area of Satsuma is where they should have filmed Deliverance because my friend swore she heard them dueling banjos going through there!!!! The whole town gave her the creeps, just appeared to be all low life's living in crappy trailers and shacks and I guess Ron must be the big catch! I remember hearing Misti's toothless hag of a mama saying she would not give permission for Misti to marry Ron till she turned 17, but yet, it was OK for her to live with him at 16??? Now right there, someone should have alerted Putnam CO that this man at age 25 with two young children is shacking up with a 16 year old teenager, 8 years old than her and they had no clue till Haleigh came up missing, but by then, she is 17 and therefore age of consent. Nay Nay has a kid, Amber, Chrystal was what 16 when she got knocked up with Haleigh??? Apparently, totally accepted behavior even by police standards. And I do not think much of that hillbilly sheriff's dept, I think that woman at the tonk was correct, they can't find their own asses!!! quite frankly i am in agreement with you, i thought for sure that i might be charged with something. but we were interviewed by social services, cps and i am assuming that the 5 year window has something to do with it. i know that he had to fill out a questionnaire about how he felt in the relationship and all this, and he was interviewed separately from me. i think by sexual abuse they mean anything by force :shrug: i know that they determined that our relationship did not constitute abuse according to California laws.

now his cousin, my ex's older brother, was 21 and he married my friend who was only 16 at the time and he was told all the same things. they were within the 5 year window and there were no indications of abuse, so i guess California is just more lenient. they do investigate the situation though and come to a determination based on interviewing both parties.


ETA: I think that if the DCF in Putnam Co had interviewed ANY of Ron's young girlfriends separate from him they would have found abuse indicators, JMO from observing them on TV of course

I've been thinking (I know, dangerous!!!!) What is the norm for dating activity in that area? Is it a fairly normal thing where a guy in his 20's "dates" high school girls? I doubt that Ron is the only one. Wonder what the age difference is in some couples (married or not) in that community. Even older couples who might have been married or together for some time. Is the female much younger than the male, and did their relationship start when the female was a teen?

I can't explain it very well, I guess. But, in some areas, people think nothing of first cousins dating and even marrying, whereas in other areas, it is shocking. Maybe, in this area, young girls hooking up w/older guys is pretty much the norm? So, no one would think to report it to authorities, as it is just how things are.

I have a whole new appreciation for the law enforcement professionals who are investigating the abduction of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings who was taken from her father's home in Hermit's Cove near Satsuma, Florida in February, 2009.

Many of you are scratching your heads about now.

Has law enforcement been a fountain of information when it comes to letting the public know how the investigation is progressing? No.

Has law enforcement been working on things beyond your and my scope of knowledge and imagination on this case? Yes.

Have I spoken to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, FBI and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office all in the past few days? Yes.

To dispell a few things:

All the forensic evidence is accounted for--even the back door to the trailer where the abduction took place.
FDLE and PSCO physically work together everyday on the case.
FBI is always consulted and remains tighlty in the loop.
LE will not make public statements in this case unless it is necessary to avoid compromising the investigation
LE knows all about the "crimes" associated with the major issue of an abducted little girl (including the illegal purchases of cigarettes by a minor that seems to have some folks coming unglued!). They are focusing on the finding and safe return of Haleigh for now. When the time comes to arrest people, they will.
Now, to address the kind of distractions investigators face every day. The reason I know about this one is because every well-intended person on earth emailed me a link with some rather strange information regarding Ronald Cummings and his alleged whereabouts the night the Haleigh vanished:

I quickly passed this on to LE and began digging where I could to further investigate this claim to no avail.

A couple of days ago a blogger decided to write something that contradicted what LE has said about Ron being at work. People decided to run with that. This blogger is writing things without checking a single thing out. He/she did not even try to see if the email was for real. It came from a hotmail account and if they had looked at the headers they should have been able to tell that it came from no where near Putnam county.

Also the second email that he/she says they sent to verify things, only was to tell me that TJH wanted to speak with me.

I apologize to Ron, Misty and PDM employees and now to Spunky. Whomever told that blogger that it was you (if anyone) is a liar.

LE was taken back by this and wasted a few hours re-tracing steps. That did NOT help them find Haleigh!

The bottom line is that LE is working diligently to find this girl. No one wants her back any faster than they do. They can't do it with all this jackassery going on like it's a game and not reality.

The e-mailer claims he or she was trying to "out" what they believed was an uncredible website, but unfortunately the exercise had some unintended and unproductive consequences.

Aside and away from from this, I said it before and I will say it again:

Most bloggers sincerely care about truly finding Haleigh.
Many are frustrated and upset about the slow progress in the case, which is understandable.
About 3% of the bloggers are nasty know-it-alls (without a clue).
Another 2% sit around their computers all day instead of getting a job and being productive trying to see what kind of crap they can start online for their own selfish amusement without a care for the real people involved.
That 2% is not the retired, not the stay-at-home moms or the disabled-- It's those who choose not to work and enjoy finding comfort in the misery of others.

We need to find Haleigh---this isn't helping LE or anyone else.

As for Ron's shift that night, sure, I can believe that he clocked in and out, but if the site doesn't have security cameras, I'm not sure how these yahoos can be sure he completed his shift. I have a whole new appreciation for the law enforcement professionals who are investigating the abduction of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings who was taken from her father's home in Hermit's Cove near Satsuma, Florida in February, 2009.

Many of you are scratching your heads about now.

Has law enforcement been a fountain of information when it comes to letting the public know how the investigation is progressing? No.

Has law enforcement been working on things beyond your and my scope of knowledge and imagination on this case? Yes.

Have I spoken to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, FBI and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office all in the past few days? Yes.

To dispell a few things:

All the forensic evidence is accounted for--even the back door to the trailer where the abduction took place.
FDLE and PSCO physically work together everyday on the case.
FBI is always consulted and remains tighlty in the loop.
LE will not make public statements in this case unless it is necessary to avoid compromising the investigation
LE knows all about the "crimes" associated with the major issue of an abducted little girl (including the illegal purchases of cigarettes by a minor that seems to have some folks coming unglued!). They are focusing on the finding and safe return of Haleigh for now. When the time comes to arrest people, they will.
Now, to address the kind of distractions investigators face every day. The reason I know about this one is because every well-intended person on earth emailed me a link with some rather strange information regarding Ronald Cummings and his alleged whereabouts the night the Haleigh vanished:

A couple of days ago a blogger decided to write something that contradicted what LE has said about Ron being at work. People decided to run with that. For the record, I wrote that email. I made up the story about the guards, Misty and Ron's new job. I wanted to prove a point and it seems as if I did. This blogger is writing things without checking a single thing out. He/she did not even try to see if the email was for real. It came from a hotmail account and if they had looked at the headers they should have been able to tell that it came from no where near Putnam county.

Also the second email that he/she says they sent to verify things, only was to tell me that TJH wanted to speak with me.

I apologize to Ron, Misty and PDM employees and now to Spunky. Whomever told that blogger that it was you (if anyone) is a liar.

LE was taken back by this and wasted a few hours re-tracing steps. That did NOT help them find Haleigh!

The bottom line is that LE is working diligently to find this girl. No one wants her back any faster than they do. They can't do it with all this jackassery going on like it's a game and not reality.

The e-mailer claims he or she was trying to "out" what they believed was an uncredible website, but unfortunately the exercise had some unintended and unproductive consequences.

Aside and away from from this, I said it before and I will say it again:

Most bloggers sincerely care about truly finding Haleigh.
Many are frustrated and upset about the slow progress in the case, which is understandable.
About 3% of the bloggers are nasty know-it-alls (without a clue).
Another 2% sit around their computers all day instead of getting a job and being productive trying to see what kind of crap they can start online for their own selfish amusement without a care for the real people involved.
That 2% is not the retired, not the stay-at-home moms or the disabled-- It's those who choose not to work and enjoy finding comfort in the misery of others.

We need to find Haleigh---this isn't helping LE or anyone else.

Sara, just so you know, a moderator did do something. There were several people banned from a couple of sites. There were reports of ip addresses made to LE over this.

The person that did the original email that caused all the ruckus, was not TJ Hart. It was someone that supposedly was trying to prove a point about another website.

Personally, it is my belief that LE needs to get the information out and be done with it. From what I have read they are just basically in a holding pattern until "someone slips up" and talks about this case. 6 months is long enough and we are getting really close to this child being gone that long.

It is time to shine the light of day on the evidence, interviews and anything else that LE has. Even if that their own admission that they botched this case from the start.

I have read somewhere that LE told the families involved to keep a low profile. That time is over now. I really don't understand these two families. IF this were a niece of mine, I would be all over LE, every day, every hour, every minute, until my child was found one way or the other and someone arrested for her disappearance.

Wind, there have been some posters over here (but not in a while) that gave me the vibe that they were fishing or baiting for titillating conversation about pedophilia and rape. Maybe after being banned from IS? That place is a zoo. I didn't use my name over there for so long that it poofed into the dark hole and that's fine.

On this case, I still believe LE knows much more than they are saying or letting on. I also believe there is a chance Haleigh is still alive and they just don't know where she is or who has her. But, I also feel if she is, she will be found. I really didn't buy the thing about "resident genius" not being at work. There are too many checks and balances at construction sites to make sure they know who is there and who is not. This case is going to get more creepy as it goes along.

Well it is nice to know that I am not the only one that knows exactly what Satsuma is all about. I read on a website about this case and one of the comments made from a FL resident said that this town is a slum and that she thinks it is a "hell hole" and that the residents are just plain white trash and that Putnam CO is a terrible police dept and she truly feels that Misti killed Haleigh because living day after day with two young kids was getting on her nerves and that she has been lying about where she was that night because she is scared to death that if she went partying and left the kids alone, he would kill her or that she killed Haleigh in a fit of rage and the alleged washing of the blanket, and what was on it, blood or pee? And she allegedly put a blanket on Haleigh that was being used as a curtain previous??? So a lot of people do think think Misti is the whole key and yet, Putnam CO is either keeping mum or they don't jack crap.

Found this information about the PDM facility in Palatka. Sounds like a pretty sophisticated outfit and it seems reasonable to me that they might use security cameras. They employ 140 (not sure the date of this info). They also have a barge facility on the site:

Cobra and LE have said they think Haleigh is alive. What makes them believe that? Is it something that went with Haleigh when she disappeared? Possibly the inhaler device that she needs?

If Haleigh knows the abductor, whether it's family or otherwise, it will be a tough decision to return her.

But since we don't know anything, it could have been a stranger. They may be negotiating with LE to swap her for a ransom. The details are still being worked out.

I have a tendency to think that Haleigh is dead if for no other reason than the fact that he seemingly required frequent medical attention and although she didn't look sickly, very possibly was.

With spoons, infared, tracking dogs, helicopters, divers, 1,000 plus National Guardsmen, and every damm police and sheriff dept in the state!!! Hell their bare hands would be digging!! But PC did only ground searches with dogs, and from what I can gather, only searched Satsuma and that town is not big, this little girl does not rate the same response. Well, I for two cannot imagine why Haleigh would be removed from the situation and not Junior. A friendly abduction or howeverthehell it could be categorized just doesn't make sense.

If you're a jaded optimist I wanna be onboard with you, IF I can have your memory. It just doesn't make sense for Haleigh to have been kidnapped, but not Junior unless there is some reason to separate their situation or worth/value. Haleigh vis a vis Junior is more hassle to the custodial parent. Schlepping her to clinic, the doc, the ER, etc.
