Still missing, Haleigh has a new stepmom
Misty Cummings ‘doesn’t know’ why her account of disappearance changed
The last person to see a 5-year-old Florida girl before she went missing — who is also the new teenage bride of the child’s father — acknowledged that there are inconsistencies in the stories she’s told investigators, but was unable to say why her account has changed.
On Friday, TODAY’s Meredith Vieira asked 17-year-old Misty Cummings — nee Misty Croslin — if she knows that she changed the story of the night Haleigh Cummings disappeared.
“Yeah,” the young woman said.
Vieira asked why there are inconsistencies.
“I don’t know,” she replied...

No! NO! NO! NO!
Okay, I'm just POed that Ron&Misty were getting hitched out-of-town instead of being near the search to personally thank those officers for their time and effort.
I totally agree they should have been near the search. I am a little worried that these LE officials are not experienced enough to get to the bottom of this. It seems like they are going about things in an awkward manner, such as just now searching this area and removing the door.
I think both Misty amd Ron know more than they're telling. Why they aren't telling remains to be seen.
Okay, it's a bad idea for Misty to have children. But she needs to quit teaching Crystal's to call her "Mommy".

Thanks for the link. So, that was put on a couple of months ago? I notice he was wearing his wedding outfit--@ least the shirt. Can't accuse him of going out spending money for that!!!!
Seeing all the Haleigh stuff--he doesn't want to go back there, because of the "happy memories" that were made there (in 3 week's time) so, wonder if he will want whomever does the moving for him to bring along Haleigh's belongings, or would seeing those be too painful reminders of "happy memories."
I'm sorry, that just sets my teeth on edge. Why in the world would a parent NOT want to be reminded of "happy memories" of his/her little child? "Happy memories" is probably what would hold me on this side of sanity during the time my precious baby is missing.

what in tarnation is a wife beater shirt?????
chili's is the proposal restaurant.
why have i wasted an hour trying to see this show, every 2 seconds, the picture changes to another story?is it just me?
Wife beater shirt--a t-shirt without sleeves or shoulders--the straps that hold it up are kind of wide spaghetti straps. If it had shoulders, we would call it a muscle shirt.
Well, @ least I got the "C" part right when I said Chuckee cheese. I knew it was a national franchise of something. I guess "chili" would be a little more "mature" than pizza, lol!!!!
I got the video to work, but I just could not go there when Vieira got to the "Ronald and Misti Cummings" interview. Got as far as "why are you here" and had to stop.

Putnam County has said that they have the help of other agencies, and I'd be surprised if the FBI isn't still involved. Can't imagine why the door would need to be removed after all this time. (Hey! Maybe they're trying to freak someone out!) I would think that a search of yesterday's magnitude would take quite a bit of advance planning, but a month? And it was an area that hadn't been searched at all? Not even cursorily?

I think that particular comment goes hand in hand with his earlier comment about believing that Haleigh is alive until they bring her home.

Kind of right up there along with his statement about, he will believe she is alive until they find her, or however that statement went.

it isn't cooperating.it says nothing found...but you are not here now.
The slang term "wife beater" originates from the popularity of the shirt among post-war working class men, who are stereotypically imagined as violent or abusive. The term appears to have originated with law enforcement as a slang term. There is a brand of A-shirt with the trademarked name of "Wife Beater"

Hi Guys!
I work at night so was home to see both the wedding and the interview today.
She wore a white strapless gown - didn't take her long to pick it out, did it. Her hair was done up and looked pretty...well, it did. They were in a 'back yard' - I'm not clear whose it was. He wore a pink short-sleeved shirt (moght have been red with white checks, but looked pink - you can see the sleeve when she puts the ring on his finger). When they are cutting the cake, he has the 'wife-beater' on. I never saw him smile at all... It looked like they were actually posing for the cake cutting picture and he picked up the knife and licked it - she laughed...
Interview: Misty was asked why she changed her story so many times. She kind of blinks, then looks at HIM, then says "I don't know". She was then asked "Well, you DID change it several times, didn't you". She answers as soft "Yes".

TJ Lastname(?) on Prime News is saying that he spoke to Dick Schauland and DS told him that Misty/Misty's inconsistencies remain the focus of the investigation to Haleigh's disappearance. Scuttlebutt around Satsuma is whether or not Misty is pregnant. (Is she still smoking?) Mark Eiglarsh(?) reiterates that because of Misty's age and the difference between her age and Ron's age, their relationship makes him guilty of a second degree felony, but since there is parental consent for the marriage prosecutors are probably going to concentrate on Haleigh rather than the statutory rape situation. Woman caller smells a rat because Cummings called Misty a b!tch during the 911 call and now they're hitched. TJ says that Ron&Misty had a falling out in the past but got back together.
I think they deserve each other.

It was in Mrs. Sykes back yard, and I'm pretty sure that I heard on Prime News that it was NBC who videotaped it for today's show. I looked for a baby bump too and/or cigarette smoking.

When I very first saw her interview, right after Haleigh went missing, I thought she was fairly guileless, but then she kept telling story after story and I got to thinking SOMETHING is really wrong here, but I didn’t – and still don’t – think that SHE did anything to Haleigh. But I sure do think she knows what happened. And so does he.
The interview this morning just confirms that. The way she dodged the questions about why her story changed so many times. And the way she looked at him. Did you notice that he doesn’t even bother to hide what seems like contempt for her? He didn’t hold her hand, or put his arm around her. He didn’t try to help her out with an answer. He just sat there. Man…I really do not like this guy. At all.

If you compare her first version of what she remembers, does the later version make a difference as to her knowing what happened to Haleigh? When a person remembers that certain facts were different than when they first related them, I find it normal to correct what was said the first time. And when she is asked why her details changed, how do you think she should explain it? Should she go through a long explanation of why everything wasn't embedded in her mind when she was first questioned? Or just simply say that she don't know? Is that dodging the question?

Well, I don't know about intuition, but I do know that it would have been easy for her to say "Oh, I was confused, everything happened so quickly". But the fact is that her stories changed drastically and factually...not just a little detail here or there. She agreed to do an interview, so why not answer the question? And why look over at him - did she need his permission?

Oh please. She first said that Haleigh was asleep in the bed with her, then changed her story to say that she was in another bed, then another room, then her own room. She also claimed that she didn't call 911 immediately because she was searching for Haleigh in the house. Now she is claiming that she went back to her room to get the phone to call Ron about the door standing open and then noticed that Haleigh was missing. It is perfectly normal to add details as you have recollections, but it is not normal to subtract and completely change details.
And I honestly can't get over the fact that this teenage girl seems to be living in a seventy year old woman's body; she can't sleep through the night without having to go to the bathroom? She didn't hear the abduction taking place? I'll add Depends and a hearing aid to her wedding registry. OR hey, maybe Ron can get her covered by Medicaid.

Yes, she could have tried to explain the different stories but in my opinion much of the blame could be laid on the sloppy reporting by the media in the beginning. It was reported at first that Haleigh got up to go to the bathroom at 3am and was later missed. This didn't match with the police report. This is what causes rumors and fingerpointing. When they ask her why her stories changed, there is a degree of accusation in the question. IF I were innocent of doing something with Haleigh, accusations wouldn't be something I would care to reply to.
Who knows why she looked over at Ron? I could let myself imagine that it was something sinister but it would be hard to prove one way or the other.

I'd like to see your links to sloppy media reporting, because I'm talking about the words coming out of Misty's mouth on video interviews. Also, I've never seen that HALEIGH got up at 3:00am to use the bathroom. That was MISTY'S first story. That MISTY got up to use the bathroom and noticed that Haleigh was gone. IF you were innocent, you probably wouldn't need 2 lie detector tests, too. She's full of conflicting stories out of HER OWN MOUTH. So, yes, accusations and fingerpointing seem somewhat appropriate. ANd I'm still waiting for an answer from her mouth that makes any sense at all.

What I thought was strange was the way Ron answered Meredith when asked if he believed the story about the man in black. He said, "I don't know. I was working." Just seemed rather unresponsive. He REALLY goes out of his way yo make a point that he was working when Haleigh was taken.
I would give my eyeteeth for a look at a confirmed timeline by LE (for instance, I don't think it's been verified that GGM Sykes visited and/or saw Haleigh in the evening). I'm wondering if it's possible that whatever happened to Haleigh was before Cummings went to work and he left Misty or someone else to take care of Haleigh's body.
If Misty was trying to make a false cover story, she would just say they went to bed at 10 and she woke up at 3am. Haleigh was missing from her bed and she found the backdoor propped open. Ron came home and they called 911. She would not be changing a good alibi. She has changed the details as they have worked their way to the surface.
If you interview 20 people after they are involved in a plane crash or train wreck, you will get 20 different stories, some conflicting. And later, other details will emerge.

I have been telling you guys from day one that she is my main "FOCUS"!! And finally Putnam CO acknowledges that her stories are not adding up and that sham marriage is also a issue with them as well, well yeah, ya got privilege going on now, so she ends up getting arrested for murdering this child or allowing someone to take the child, then he can't stick up or testify against her, this marriage was planned before 2/10? MY ASS!! And I agree with Justice, he calls he a dumb b*tch on the 911 tape and yet he marries her? Would you not have any doubt no matter how well you think you know someone? And I just watched the video, and she is sitting there cowered, and nervous as a cat in a room full of Doberman's! She clearly did not want to answer that all consuming question, "Why did you change your stories"? First she looks at him, the floor, and then says "I don't know"?? Not a good answer!! And makes me 100% sure that they either KNOW who take Haleigh or she knows she is lying her ass off about where SHE WAS!
Nothing adds up here kids and finally I think LE is starting to rethink her lame stories, if we only arm chair detective here, and we are in complete agreement about this pile of trash. And what about the investigator she clearly hates? I am betting he hit a nerve or two, he clearly has his bullsh*t meter running and he ain't liking what he is hearing and I am liking this guy very much!!! He might be the one to crack this case wide open and I also heard that she did walk out on an interview with him and to me that speaks of what I have been saying all along. She was not in that home after 8 p.m. She went off to get high or drunk and knew she had to be home before he gets home at 0330 hours and walked in and found the child gone. I think she panicked, she knew she would be in deep sh*t with him, and who is to say she did not stage the door scene? When asked about the time line, was it me or did she get a little on the defensive side? She sighs almost in disgust, and says "I put them to bed at 8 p.m. and I washed blankets and put one around Haleigh and about 10 I went to bed and I woke up to go to the bathroom, saw the kitchen light on and found Haleigh missing"?
That double wide is similar to my friend's in the sense that they too have a master bath in the bedroom and theirs is about the same distance from their bed away as the Clampet's here, and they also have a backdoor right next to their laundry room and Ian's room is across the hall from there and so was Haleigh's and Junior's room, eerily similar as a matter of fact! As for the nuptials? BARF! She wearing a "shotgun wedding" dress, in other words, hastily purchased from some discount bridal shop, probably cost all of $75, the hair was a bit much, and you all get a load of the arbor? Somehow it made it look even more cheap and who the hell was the yahoo with the crutches? Her Daddy? If there was not a child missing and probably dead here, I would have laughed my ass off and begged for CMT to put the video on the MOST AWFUL REDNECK WEDDING!!! My second husband, I will admit is a total redneck, albeit educated, there was no way I was ever getting him into a tux and I did not push the issue, I simply told him he was not wearing jeans and a flannel shirt and I have to admit he did good. He wore his Marine dress uniform, had to be altered since he had gained a few pounds, but damm he did look good.
Now we also were married at our house, we both had been married before and really did not want a church wedding, but ours was planned, right down to the flowers, and I never asked my friends and family to dress to the nines, but they did me proud, no one looked like a bum. The men wore slacks for the most part, some wore suits like my dad, and nice shirts, no flannel or ripped jeans. My bridesmaids wore dresses they could wear again, black skirts and puffed sleeve teal empress tops and they looked great! I wore an off white knee length dress and heels, I had already did the white dress the first time around. It was a great day, and everyone brought food and drink, we had a friend DJ and we all had a blast, SO I don't give a rat's ass they pulled this charade at granny's house, it just looked like a cheap wedding, planned in an hour and Ron looked like an idiot in that orange shirt!
Oh, but they plan to do the church yahoo when HC gets home, sure, right, huh huh. And after this lovely honeymoon, how much ya wanna bet this twit is knocked up too? That would be the final nail, here you were the last to see your "hubby's" daughter, who once again, he never mentioned by name, you had only known him for 5 months, and they had planned to get married before? And did you get a load of the wedding guests? Probably all of 50 teeth among them and dang it, I thought her momma would buy teeth for this here fancy wedding??? Even the cake looked like it came from Walmart!! Wonder what the guest dined on? Fried beaver? Gator cakes? porcupine pie?? Natural light beer in a keg? Two dollar wine? Ah shucks!!
And I hooted when I saw Ron's truck!! At least the Ants had Caylee's picture plastered on their cars and this loser has "God is the only one to judge me"? And ain't it a hoot and holler that the church they allegedly attend, the preacher would not marry them because it would not be proper? Me thinks this man of God is having second thoughts himself because I feel if he believed their crap stories, he would have allowed them to marry in the church in front of said God. Credibility here is waning fast, and I read a posting on Coastnews, that even folks on Satsuma are really starting to have doubts themselves and who do they doubt? MISTI! And how would a 5 year old understand what a wedding really is??? As for her calling that twit Mommy, it is inappropriate.
I had my godson Jason a lot when he was a little lad, his mother had crazy hours at work so I would pick him up and bring him to work with me at the pizza place I worked at and he would sit in the backroom in between deliveries and watch cartoons, my boss's daughter was about the same age and everyone loved Jason, they would let him make his own pizza's and he loved going on runs with me. Sometimes I would let him come to the house with me and let him give the food to the people and I would give him a tip or sometimes the people would give him one too!! But he knew that I was Aunt Linda, not mommy. And his father's wife, he NEVER called her mommy!!! He has a great stepdad he has called dad since he was 10 and they made it official when he turned 12, he hates his father, not a good thing there, basically a sperm donor, he left my cousin when she got pregnant and she had a heck of a time getting child support, and then when Jason turned 15 he went to jail for raping the daughter of his wife and is still there. And this stupid twit has only known the child for 5 months? Of course we are dealing with gutter trash, here, not normal people. And my gut is also telling me, that this marriage is a total sham, and now I am wondering if Ron DOES KNOW Misti was not home that night, and why I say this, is CPS had already been involved with this clan, and I think he is afraid that he would lose Junior if she came clean as I do believe they did not know that she had moved in with him and surely would have objected to her taking care of kids when she is an uneducated, dumb as a rock, hillibilly and a child herself. The gene pool in her family is not that deep either. So I am standing firm that she has lied from day one and now LE is finally letting their feelings be known too.

Agree that you would expect to get different stories from different victims or witnesses. But you shouldn't expect to get different stories from the same person. I strongly feel that Misty doesn't want to tell the truth, whatever it is, and there are plenty of experts who would agree. Believe me, I have plenty of experience with interviewing perps, and she doesn't strike me as either a good liar or completely honest. And she has admitted that at least one investigator has called her a liar (or whatever he said). And Captain Schauland told TJ Harp that Misty's inconsistencies remain the focus of the investigation.

>>ya got privilege going on now, so she ends up getting arrested for murdering this child or allowing someone to take the child, then he can't stick up or testify against her
Spousal privilege doesn't cover anything that occurred before the marriage, and wouldn't apply to a crime against a child or member of the household. I doubt if Ron&Misty know that though. They're probably going by what they've seen on soap operas.

According to investigators, Haleigh was last seen on Monday night around 10 p.m. in her mobile home on Green Lane. Haleigh, her younger brother and her father's 17-year-old girlfriend, Mistie Croslin, went to bed in the same room. Deputies say Croslin told them that the little girl got up to go to the bathroom around 3:30 a.m., about the same time Haleigh's father, Ronald, got home from work. When they went back into the bedroom they discovered Haleigh was gone.

Cummings and Croslin to Tie Knot Today
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting today that Cummings and Croslin aren't going to waste anytime getting married. They are supposed to tie the knot today at 4 p.m.
In the meantime, a 100-person investigative search team is combing the highways, looking for clues to Haleigh's disappearance.
Just thinking about this ceremony, I get upset. To think that Haleigh's body is likely laying out there in some horrific place, and her father has no problem going on with his life and having a big celebration today, it just violates me to the core. The lack of caring and compassion showed by Cummings is just devastating. It's just really, really sad to think about, and to think he is a father makes it a thousand times worse. Haleigh deserved so much more than this.
http://eyesforlies.blogspot.com/2009/03/cummings-and-croslin-to-tie-knot-today.html
From the Eyes comments section:
I see things differently, but of course, while I can usually see lies, I can't always accurately speculate what the lie is about, but I feel that Ron is the main person behind this, and Misty is just aiding him.
I think Cummings could never keep a secret if he felt Misty hurt his daughter. He is way to selfish, arrogant, angry and egotistical to be able to pull that off for someone else. He would likely, however, do it for himself. He would propose to Misty to keep her content, happy and QUIET, if he is the one with a big secret!
If Misty played a part and killed or accidentally injured Haleigh, Ron would not get engaged to her to shut her up. It doesn't make sense. He would have the huge secret that would put her behind bars if he spoke up, and Misty would be very afraid. While she could put Ron in a jail, he wouldn't face near as much time as she would.
When you look at these two, Ron is the controlling and manipulative one here, and Misty is the bendable, pliable one willing to do what Ron wants. Misty is truly the type that would cover for another person at the risk of ruining her life.
Just my speculation...

He's a conundrum. Arms folded across the chest, eyes downcast, doesn't say much, very withdrawn, but so twitchy. (Maybe he's a tweaker.) I think he really works at being in control.
He hates that he can't do what he wants without a camera in his face, then gets on a plane and goes to Nyawk City (even though the network was right there in Satsuma, right there in his front yard), so he can kvetch about the focus not being on Haleigh (even though he gave NBC permission to videotape the wedding).

P.I. Searches for Haleigh
SATSUMA, Fla. -- There's a new investigator on the Haleigh Cummings case. He calls himself Cobra. He's a private investigator from Fort Lauderdale, who is in Satsuma at Haleigh's mother's request.
"In 30 years, I've caught over 8000 fugitives, 199 child molesters, 2 murderers, and one terrorist," says Cobra. Now his focus is on Haleigh. Thursday, he joined police in their thorough but fruitless ground search. And now, he's sorting through tips, trying to figure out what is fact and what is fiction.
Cobra says, "You heard the rumors, that drugs dealers got her. Drug dealers sell drugs. But there is a rumor that there are folks around that sell babies, and sell folks. I'm very familiar with that trade."
He couldn't talk about any specific leads he's working. But he says one thing is for sure, we can expect a break in Haleigh's case very soon.
Cobra says he's investigating the case free of charge. And he says he will stay in Putnam County until he's confident the case is closed.

Wow! Mister Cobra is busy, busy, busy! That's a lot of scores for thirty years.
I do wish him Godspeed. Maybe folks (except prolly not Ron&Misty) will tell him things they won't tell LE.
"It's not some hillybilly saying, 'Hey Mama, how you doing?' This was real," Cobra told ABC News.
"There are real bombs. We dare not pull the pin on them," Cobra said as he walked through the shed on a videotape obtained by ABC News. "We're going to be calling the bomb squad in a few minutes."

Would Ron sell his little girl? Crystal said there were some dishonest things during their divorce, something being sent to a wrong address, and the court seemed to always believe him.
Did everyone notice he was walking several steps ahead of Misti going up the steps to get the marriage license, like she wasn't even a person? She was tagging along behind, and didn't seem to mind it a bit. Seems like the mother or grandmother who gave permission for her to marry should have noticed how she was being treated.
Wasn't there a sudden noise in the distance that made her look at Ron when trying to think of an answer about her inconsistencies? It was like a start, a kneejerk reaction, and like she thought it might be a welcome distraction from the question, right? Most likely the couple were misinformed about privilege, judging by what little truth we know.

I love ya old soul! Guess I did get carried away, but when I have something in my head that needs to get out, I roll with it and yeah, the keyboard has now replaced Pepsi and food! Wow! I just read the post about Misti claiming Haleigh got up to use the bathroom then she did? Oh, yeah, LE is getting hip to whatever is going on and more power to Cobra. As far as people giving it up to others other than LE that is a fact often. I remember I was visiting a friend and she was 9 months pregnant and we were in my truck heading out to pick up her daughter at school and we were in a nice hood or so we thought and the next thing we know bullets are hitting the truck including one that barely missed Malika's head and one that came in right about where Maya would have been sitting! I gunned the engine and drove like hell to the PD. Several officers checked my truck out and found 9mm bullets in my grill, side door and in the engine compartment. Malika, once she calmed down, went with an officer to pick up Maya and then we both gave a statement and they canvassed the hood, and no one would give up a thing.
I had a gut feeling that maybe I could get some info and since I was there for the weekend, later on that night, I hit the hood and went door to door in the area where we were ambushed and I talked to a group of teens on a corner, told them who I was and bingo, they give up a name because this little puke bragged about it! The Captain was still on duty so I called him and told him what I learned and needless to say he was not surprised to hear the name. He went to this kid's house, confronted him, of course he lied through his teeth, they came armed with a search warrant and what do they find? Daddy's 9mm (Daddy is also a convicted felon) and bullets identical to the ones recovered from my truck. He placed the little puke and Daddy under arrest and this kid is all of 12!!!
Because he opened fire in a community and the very fact that Malika was pregnant, upped the anti on the charges to attempted homicide because the DA felt that "Tyson"was out to either injure or thrill kill someone. Daddy was charged with endangering the welfare for having the gun in the first place and was in violation of his parole, and the baturd was charged as an adult, but when to a juvie facility and got three years there, he did not get a slap on the wrist as that YDCF (youth department of corrections facility)is every bit as bad as an adult prison. SO yeah, people will give up info to a civilian, those kids here would have never given it up to the police, but when they learned that we were his victims, they felt terrible especially with Milika being pregnant and one boy, bless his heart said that my truck "was way too cool" to be barraged by bullets!!!
I remember the mama trying to spin that he was a good boy, but yet, due to her drug issues, she had lost custody and the loser father got it and the kid's attorney brought up the fact their apt according to the police was in terrible condition, when they searched that day the only thing they found in the fridge was beer and one box of cereal in the cupboard and when Captain Corey asked him why there was no food, the father told him, "I can't afford to buy much, he gets a free breakfast and hot lunch, that is good enough for him" And then the lawyer brings up the fact that he got ADFNC benefits of $750 a month, and $230 in food stamps!! A neighbor who hated him but felt sorry for the kid testified that Daddy would go to a store with a friend, buy food and trade it for cash!! She also said that often her kids would ask if Tyson could eat with them or could they give him food and she said she did and when asked why she never reported him she said she was afraid of him because she knew he had a gun. Any wonder this kid had issues??
But that does not excuse what he had done to us and I said as much in court and Malika was even more vocal and who can blame her? As it is, she went into labor with JayShawn too early and she blames it on that nightmare. I still have one bullet in my jewelry box. The kid seemed contrite as to what he had done and when asked by the county attorney why he did it he said he was mad that day and wanted to hurt someone. Daddy sat there looking bored and the only emotion out of him is when the CA brought up the fact that due his lack of parenting skills, that he would no longer have custody and that he was going back in to do the remainder of his time which was 4 years!!! I wonder what this kid is up to now, this happened in 2000.
And here we have a case just like Rotten Ron getting custody of children they can't care for. As far as them selling Haleigh, I don't know about that one. I had entertained that maybe she was snapped by a trafficker, but knowing how they operate, they would have snapped Junior too, these sick f**ks do not discriminate, they know there are twisted pukes that like little boys too. But I wish I was a fly on the wall of Putnam CO and hear what they are thinking and for Misti to have to take two polygraphs is extremely rare, usually they are a tool to either rule someone out or make they number one suspect and me thinks that they are hip to her crap stories and Cobra might have really good luck getting to the bottom of this, people might give up info to him, especially in clans like this who dislike the police, they don't want to be a rat, but if some guy is checking into things on behalf of the mama, and maybe they all hate Ron, something tells me this boy don't have many friends.
But Haleigh and Jr don't deserve them, or is it the other way around? They don't deserve to have those children.
Well, yes, she SHOULD. After all, that was what the interview was to be about--keeping the focus on Haleigh. So, when the interviewer asks a question, she is certainly prepared for a long-drawn out explanation--after all, that IS why she asked the question, IMO.

I consider this media report as flawed as anything Misty has said.
This particular article states that deputies made the statement that Misty said that Haleigh got up blah, blah, blah. Sounds to me like they had a source, and that Misty is the one who is guilty of bad reporting.
The article at the link reports (from police narrative) that Misty got up to get a drink, not go to the bathroom. Yet another version.
...Misty old me that she woke up just before 3am to get a drink and she noticed that Haleigh was missing...
http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/news/state/missing_haleigh_police_report_021609
The girl is not adding information as she remembers it, she is changing her story which is indicative of lying, and could be the reason that she has been questioned numerous times, has taken more than one polygraph, and that the new investigator was "rude" to her.

Attorney Claims Physical Abuse In Haleigh's Home
Family Denies Allegation As Haleigh's Dad Gets Married
SATSUMA, Fla. -- An attorney for Haleigh Cummings' mother said Friday that she has received allegations of abuse in the missing 5-year-old's father's house.
"There is credible evidence of physical abuse of the children...in Ronald Cummings' household," attorney Kim Picazio claimed in an interview WESH 2 News.
She represents Haleigh's biological mother, Crystal Sheffield.
Haleigh lived with Cummings, her biological father, and 17-year-old Misty Croslin. Cummings and Croslin got married on Thursday, a month after Haleigh disappeared from their Satsuma home.
The Cummings family has denied any abuse occurred.
Picazio said she has talked with the Putnam County victim's advocate about the evidence she has received about Haleigh and her brother, Ronald Jr. An attempt to get a comment from the Florida Department of Children & Families was unsuccessful on Friday.
Cummings, 25, married Croslin in a private ceremony on Thursday and then appeared on NBC's Today Show in New York City on Friday. The couple was married in front of 20 guests in Cummings' grandmother's back yard.
The couple had hoped to marry at their Baptist church in near San Mateo, but the church refused. So they contacted two notaries to make the ceremony legal.
Cummings' mother told WESH 2 News that they're having the wedding now because they didn't have time before.
The couple hopes Haleigh will soon be found so they can all celebrate their wedding together.
"When she comes home, she will have Misty for her mommy, and that's what we want to give her," Cummings' mother said.
Cummings and his new bride don't have honeymoon planned yet, but Thursday night they traveled to New York City.
Cummings asked Croslin to marry him on Sunday night at Chili's in Palatka. Croslin was sleeping in the home she shared with Cummings on the night Haleigh disappeared one month ago.
The sheriff's office said Thursday's search "is not the result of information received, but is being conducted as one more step in the continuing search for Haleigh."

We just have two viewpoints and so we can't agree. My opinion is that when an average person relates something they experienced, they don't include all the details. They usually leave off bits and pieces. Misty is accused of having two versions of why she got up that morning. Did she get up to go to the bathroom or to get a drink of water? Why didn't she go the bathroom adjoining the bedroom instead of the one past the kitchen. The whole story could be that she woke up needing to go to the bathroom and she was also thirsty. She chose to go to the kitchen for the water and would then use the bathroom. She sees the light on in the kitchen and then sees both back doors open. This seems a little scarey so she decides to call Ron. She goes to the bedroom to get the phone and sees that Haleigh is gone. She looks through the house for Haleigh and then calls Ron. He is arriving just then and they both search for Haleigh. They talk it over and Ron tells her to call 911. She was not prepared for the questions on the phone. She didn't know their address or Haleighs birthdate or Haleigh's weight.
Misty seems to have the mind and mannerisms of a 10 year old. I believe she has never looked at the details of that night as being important. The important part to her was the doors were open and Haleigh was gone.
If LE has a witness that says Misty left the house that night, this person must be anonymous. If they know who the person is, they would bring him/her in and confront Misty with their story. Sounds like balogna.

Attorney Claims Physical Abuse In Haleigh's Home
Family Denies Allegation As Haleigh's Dad Gets Married

Thanks NA, this sounds like the information that KP was telling NG about the other night. Nancy wasn't buying it though and moved on pretty quickly to asking why Crystal doesn't have custody and whatnot. Not surprised that DCF isn't going to comment, and not surprised there are allegations of abuse, since I believe Crystal has said that she has called DCF on occasion, and her family has the photograph that they showed Geraldo (which they claim was not a schoolyard accident). I'm thinking that what the attorney is going to have to do is substantiate abuse using the testimony of a neutral party eyewitness or medical records.

Actually the first story that was told was that Haleigh got up to go to the bathroom I believe.
I still can't understand how someone could walk into the bedroom nearly step on Misti's head and she didn't hear them. Junior heard them, how could Misti not hear them?

I believe that she already has both. I don't see her making a statement like she did without evidence to back herself up. I also believe that like alot of small towns in Florida, people will talk to her that won't talk to a cop because they just don't trust the police.

I don't disagree that people don't always remember full details when first recounting an incident, but that is not the case here that has raised suspicion with the public and LE. It's the fact that Misty subtracts details rather than adds to her recollection, and that she completely changes her account(s). Not sure why that's so hard to grasp.
Yes, Misty does seem immature. All the more reason for her to not be married to this rageaholic pedophile.
I take the information that there is a witness to Misty being out of the house with a grain of salt. NOT that LE would confirm it.

I've got faith that this attorney can come up with plenty of dirt on Ron (and don't doubt that she already has). I've read that the Cummings family isn't well liked, and wouldn't be a bit surprised that people want to help Crystal. Of course, sooner or later, witness would have to make some sort of sworn statement or openly speak with authorities for abuse claims to be supported.

I had entertained that maybe she was snapped by a trafficker, but knowing how they operate, they would have snapped Junior too, these sick f**ks do not discriminate, they know there are twisted pukes that like little boys too. i didn't expect to see any friends of ron, but haven't seen any for either ron or misty.
if someone asks if misty has a criminal record, would le say, we can't tell you, or say yes it's sealed? she is like the only person,in this family with no record , i think.
since she doesn't go to school, her friend may only be, whoever sells her cigarettes.

Hello Everyone I am very very new here so please be nice :) I just had to register because this case is really got to me.
I have not watched this case from the beginning. I did know that a 5 year old girl disappeared from her home and a 17 year old girl was "supposed to be watching her". I don't have cable anymore, so I don't get to watch Nancy Grace (thankfully ;) ).. and on most mornings I am getting my kids ready for school when the today show comes on, so I had not heard anything since the first report. Friday I was able to see the "Newlyweds" and I must say I am sick!!
It was clear to me that they are not being truthful, and his answers of "I dunno.. I was at work" really made me mad, and very suspicious. She(Misty) was no better, she looked scared, and like she was looking for permission from him to answer a very simple question. She walked out on an interrogation?? She did say the cop was being rude.....WTH??
Ronald knows something, he was wayyy too fidgety and showed NO emotion during the interview on the Today show. Misty seemed like she wasn't even there (physically and/or mentally) the night it happened. They are both hiding something.
I searched and found this page have read most of the comments but not all.
The marriage is a joke ... I hope and pray that poor Haleigh is safe and OK somewhere, but these people seem to already know what happened to her, and they are moving on. :flamemad:
Sad very very sad
OT but.... my husband walked in halfway through the interview and asked who are they and I said "oh this little girl has been missing for over a month" and he said... before I could finish "oh wow they found her" ..... he thought Misty was the little girl I was speaking of!

Welcome, Maven. I too, am somewhat new and joined shortly after Haleigh was reported missing. This is a great message board with lots of intelligent minds. Lots of quick wit and humor too which attracted me to this group.
I am trying to catch up after not being on the boards for the past few weeks. (My father died unexpectedly Mar. 6 and I am taking care of my mother now. They were together 54 yrs.) :rose:
ITA with your observations of Ronnie and his new bride. Things don't add up and it won't be long before LE will break this case. I appreciate the fact that LE is not giving out much info. Maven, if you haven't already done so, listen to the 911 calls that Misty and Ronnie Rageful made to report Haleigh missing.
You'll get a good idea of what kind of people they truly are. :flamemad:

Teenager weds Father of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings
News Type: Event — Fri Mar 13, 2009 9:21 AM EDT
Clint Van Zandt
In a wedding not made in heaven, at least one that their local pastor refused to sanction in his church because of his disagreement with the proposed relationship, Ronald Cummings (25) married his current teen-age girlfriend, Misty Croslin (17), after becoming engaged just four days earlier. Evidently Misty is but one of a number of Ron’s believed recent underage girlfriends. A notary public preformed the back yard marriage that took place while over 100 Florida area law enforcement officers continued their search for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings. The child has not been seen since the evening of February 9-10, 2009, when the then t7-year-old live-in girlfriend allegedly noticed Haleigh was not on her mattress on the floor a few feet away from the bed then shared by Misty and Ron Cummings’ son, Ron, Jr.
Appearing on NBC's ‘The Today Show’ Friday morning, evidently the genesis of their honeymoon trip to New York City, the couple told Today’s Meredith Vieira that they had both passed (FBI) polygraph tests concerning the disappearance of Haleigh (for those true believers in polygraphs, see my article "Do Lie Detectors Lie? at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7992482/). Misty, however, was unable to explain the changes and inconsistencies in her story of the morning Haleigh disappeared. Her latest version suggests as follows:
"Misty had put Haleigh to bed at 8 o’clock. She then washed their blankets, and after that was done, she put Haleigh's blanket over her. "She was sleeping when I put her blanket on her," said Misty. "She was in her bed, and it was about 10 o’clock. I finally laid down and went to sleep. I woke up at 3. I got up to use the bathroom, and I noticed the kitchen light was on. I walked through the kitchen, and that’s when I noticed the back door was open. So I run back to my bedroom to get my phone to call Ronald. That’s when I noticed Haleigh was gone.”
New husband Ron, the man who had previously referred to Misty as his “dumb ***** girlfriend,” appeared overly smug when he said he didn’t know what happened to his daughter as, “I was at work,” grinning over what he appeared to believe was the perfect alibi. As far as the focus on him and the new Mrs. Cummings, he said "nobody's business what I do with my personal life." I would be very glad to disagree with him on this fact should it be determined that the children in his home, to include Haleigh and Ron Jr., had being abused by the occupants of that trailer.
Investigators continue to question Misty’s version of what happened the night Haleigh disappeared and Misty, for her part, has walked out of law enforcement interviews when she considered their questions to be rude. Haleigh Cummings' new stepmother has not been ruled out as a suspect and investigators point to her inability to explain in her "Today" interview what happened the night Haleigh disappeared as an example of what detectives have faced for weeks."Our interviews with her have been pretty much like what you saw on the "Today Show," said the investigator. "We've confronted her with her inconsistencies and America (now has) a sample of our interviews with her."
As indicated in my initial Newsvine review of this case (http://clintvanzandt.newsvine.com/_news/2009/02/16/2441536-update-teenage-caretaker-of-missing-5-year-old-florida-girl-says-i-didnt-do-it), Ron Cummings and the biological mother of both Haleigh and Ron, Jr., were involved in a custody battle concerning their two children at the time of Haleigh’s disappearance, one that continues today.

In an earlier article on this page, there was reference to "private" wedding. GMAB!!! How "private" an it be if the bridal party (the groom?) invited a national tv network to film it? I suppose he is going to complain all over creation about their wedding pics and video being made public, it being no one else' business and all.

He's such an ingrate, it's been the media who has kept Haleigh's face in the public's mind. It's his antics that take the focus away from his daughter. You know, Haleigh. H*a*l*e*i*g*h.

thanks for the link lorretta, I just listened to it. Wow even on that night he told the 911 operator that he "was at work" he sure does think that clears him.
He came off as arrogant and very satisfied in that Today show interview, as far as his personal life, well... as others have said perhaps he shouldn't have invited the camera crew to his wedding.
I just watched the Today show interview again, and even though neither one of them say very much, their body language and facial expressions speak volumes.

Where would he get a dime? He doesn't even have money to pay someone to move him out of his trailer where his daughter was stolen. But in the commentary along with that video, John O'Connor reports that he talked more about the $$ Cha Chinging in than he did Haleigh. And don't think he's worked in over a month.
And did you read the disclaimer at the beginning of the video? That was added after I watched it the first time.

I know in GA and SC they are now having to take furlough days, are overworked and underpaid. The dedicated ones have to really love their work, and it takes a special person, (such as my 2nd child, lol) with a heart of gold. You are right, there are not enough of them and you wonder why. My daughter does not get home before 7pm most nights. It seems the mid level employees who do the most work are the ones that have to suffer, with furloughs, long hours with no overtime pay, plus they see the pain, etc. that these children are going through, not the executive level of state employees. Ron&Misty make me ill. Dozens of men spent the day looking for Haleigh and he's the next town over getting married instead of handing out bottled water to the searchers and personally thanking them. According to Mrs. Neves, he and Misty never had time for a wedding before because of work. Hellllllooooo No time off on the weekends, or during the day when he worked the night shift? Now is the first chance they've had? Oh okay. One thing's right; he doesn't go to work anymore. Hell, if I wasn't going to go out and comb the countryside for my child, I'd prefer to be at work rather than sitting around some tent smoking cigarettes all day.
Can you imagine Junior standing there with them at the makeshift altar trying to understand what's going on? And that some day he (and hopefully Haleigh) will wonder why Haleigh wasn't there? Oh, they've bought a flower girl dress for her. Something tells me the next dress she's in will be for her own funeral. And something tells me they know it.
Regardless of whatever faults Crystal has, these Ron's people have a lot of gall to continually say that now Haleigh has a new mommy. So much bullsh!t.
I Agree! First I Want to say, they are already burned out after so short a time. What does gramma mean, it's time for something happy???? If they are already saying that, they have no guts. I pray to GOD Jr goes back to his mother! He's in complete jeopardy with a 17 year old who could not possibly be a power of example to him, or a caretaker for that matter. This stuff is all rotten. At least Cayly Anthony had some semblance of a home life. That poor little girl had nothing but crap for father. This wedding is a disaster waiting for a moment to manifest.

Well, so they need something happy. Why doesn't Cummings look happy? Why did he leave Misty and her mother in the dust on his way in to get the license? i have to say something about gramma...it sounds like a month is too long to be sad over something like losing your daughter.that is one of her stupid excuses for the wedding....before i just thought, sykes & TN made up excuses or said things, b/c ron does what he wants & probably doesn't even give them a reason...

We've seen this interview before, but listen to the commentary at the end:
http://rochesterpopulist.wordpress.com/2009/03/03/john-thomas-interviews-ronald-cummings/
Hadn't seen this interview of Crystal before; she denies that her drug use had anything to do with losing custody (at least that's how I interpret her comment), and she doesn't want to talk about drug use, but it's already out there, so not sure why:
http://rochesterpopulist.wordpress.com/2009/03/11/john-oconnor-interviews-crystal-sheffield/
Thanks for the links. On Crystal, I didn't get that she was denying drug use, she just did not want to talk about it, it was in the past. But, that was just my interpretation.
I had not seen the part after Ron's tattoo parlor post before, where the reporter talked about that the people in the parlor were saying, that Ron did not talk about his daughter so much, but more about all the money he has received. I also hadn't seen Misti in the other video--but she was walking w/him @ one point.
And, in the Geraldo interview, Ron DID say Haleigh--twice, believe it or not. Right @ the first, and again almost @ the last. So, that makes three times in a little over one month, and many, many interviews where he has actually said "Haleigh." I can see the "my daughter, my child, my baby" used on occasion, I just wonder why it is so hard for him to say his daughter's name.
I guess maybe, saying her name brings back happy memories, and he just can't go there? Like, he can't go into the house because of the happy memories? That is just so weird a statement, to not want to remember the happy times.
I just watched the video again, and did not see a disclaimer, nor when I watched the first time. What did it say?
I wonder what all kinds of money he is getting? I know he didn't have to pay to have his tent on the property, and someone donated an RV, and someone donated the tattoos. Around here, people put up change jars in stores to "help the family" when there is a big expense, usually to help pay for travel and motel expenses when someone has to go elsewhere for medical care, or for medical expenses if there is no insurance. Wonder if there is something like that going on there--and if so, does he share the money with Crystal?
Hey Dan long time no!
Well, so they need something happy. Why doesn't Cummings look happy? Why did he leave Misty and her mother in the dust on his way in to get the license? Why did he sit and twitch looking at the floor on The Today Show? Why does he always look like he's got a dirty diaper and needs Teresa to change him? (I heard she went on the honeymoon with him. This abuse stuff better be the truth, or Team Crystal is really hanging Junior out to dry. Imagine this little boys shame someday. Couldn't you just cry?
I can see him not smiling and happy in his interviews about the sad situation of his daughter being missing. But, gee, doncha think he would be smiling a bit when he actually marries the girl of his dreams? Or, when they share a piece of wedding cake? This is supposed to be "something happy" in the midst of this saddness, guess it is not happy enough for him to smile about, tho.
Now, you know his mama probably hasn't had a chance to ever go to NYC, and if the network is footing the bill, why not take her along? Wonder why Misti's mom didn't get to go, too? Unless the network would only pay for one extra person. I know I would like to spend my wedding night and "honeymoon" with my new MIL right there. ;) Guess Teresa's going along answers the question of which "mom" was being referred to in where Jr was. While Ron and Misti were in NYC, Jr was w/his mom--the question @ the time was, is that Jr's mom or Ron's mom?
I think Crystal is doing pretty good not commenting on the now Haleigh and Jr have a "new mommy" comments. Or @ least I haven't seen or read where anyone has asked her about that--and that is a good thing, too, that the media doesn't get in her face about that. I would be plenty po'd.
Isn't he weened yet?)
This abuse stuff better be the truth, or Team Crystal is really hanging Junior out to dry. Imagine this little boys shame someday. Couldn't you just cry?
Yes I could cry.. This is a soap opera that has no end. Kids/pawns and dysfunction abounding! I'm not a GR fan, but he made sense when he said, (paraphrase) "THe reason he married Misty was to prevent himself from being charged with statutory rape and to prevent her from testifying against him for other crimes."
His mother went on the honeymoon????? Crystal seems a bit better but kind of dazed eh?
:seeya: Hi Loretta. I've been around. My weebles and their parents were here yesterday making me happy! Good food, beautiful day for weebles to play outside. They are growing so fast and mastered climbing the mulberry tree they couldn't climb last year. Ooof!!! The Flying Wallendas!

This is really starting to make my skin crawl. I cannot understand why both of these children were still in Ronald Cummings home if this were true. I know nothing about Fla DFCS but my daughter is a case worker in GA and these children would have been pulled out of the home in a heart beat if this were true. :rose:
I agree LH! Now they are no longer under the radar. I don't understand why Jr was not placed in a safer environment instantly! (Either with his mother, or in foster care temporarily) If Cummings married Misty in order to keep his son, the system should put her under a scope 24 hours a day. There is so much involved in raising a child.
There is more needed than fundamentals; mothers have to be ON constantly, 24 hours a day. We know this, does she?
I just don't see how a 17 year old pothead can properly care for a little boy that age. What will she do when he needs someone to explain why he can't turn the stove on, or put toys in the toilet, or walk off a cliff?
More than this, how does someone tell her that druggies and open doors late at night are not good things to have around children. She obviously doesn't know that.
I have a gut feeling Cummings will blame her for the rest of her life. And he should. My crystal ball tells me she is in a bad space. She should have been arrested for putting those kids in danger, because now, she is in danger too. IMOO

Florida Evidence Code Section 90.504:
90.504 Husband-wife privilege.--
(1) A spouse has a privilege during and after the marital relationship to refuse to disclose, and to prevent another from disclosing, communications which were intended to be made in confidence between the spouses while they were husband and wife.
(2) The privilege may be claimed by either spouse or by the guardian or conservator of a spouse. The authority of a spouse, or guardian or conservator of a spouse, to claim the privilege is presumed in the absence of contrary evidence.
(3) There is no privilege under this section:
(a) In a proceeding brought by or on behalf of one spouse against the other spouse.
(b) In a criminal proceeding in which one spouse is charged with a crime committed at any time against the person or property of the other spouse, or the person or property of a child of either.
(c) In a criminal proceeding in which the communication is offered in evidence by a defendant-spouse who is one of the spouses between whom the communication was made.
__________________
So, it looks like for crimes committed BEFORE the marriage, there is no privilege?
OR, as in B--crime committed against the person or property of a child of either--there is no privilege. So, if Misti has done something (or allowed something to be done) Ron would not have privilege to not testify. If Ron has done something or allowed something to be done--guess Misti would not have to testify, since it isn't HER child that has had a crime committed against her?
I just watched the video again, and did not see a disclaimer, nor when I watched the first time. What did it say?

O'Connor flat out asks Crystal if "that is part of the situation" and she says no. I don't necessarily fault her for saying that the past is the past and for not wanting to discuss the drug use; I'm sure that she has been advised not to discuss her drug use by her attorney (not sure the date of this interview), and she looks clean to me. She has admitted to it in the past and it's part of the custody proceedings/transcript.
Cummings is a moRon, but especially if happy memories keep him from moving home and from saying Haleighs name. Oh wait. He's a moron. Period.

Most abuse/neglect investigations are kept off the record to protect the identity of minor children, and if this situation is in any trumped up to make Cummings look worse than he already appears, or is a machination, I'll be plenty POed (and so will the court be). Many judges don't like to see custody battles erupting every few months or even every year, but this one does need to be revisited, and I would imagine that Crystal wouldn't be able to afford a new battle if her attorney wasn't working pro bono. Kim Picazio told Geraldo last night that Team Crystal has a witness that Cummings beat Junior until he was bloody. Wonder if that's something that Cobra dug up.

This is a little different from the warning that was posted on the Cummings interview last night. I think the first one that I read stated that the offender was a member of Cummings family rather than a supporter. At any rate, you have to wonder what nerve was touched that set off the fidiot who would threaten children in a missing child case. Talk about your irony.

Thank you, Dan. I just moved in with my mother this weekend after a beautiful funeral service last Fri. Mom has refused to go home without someone living with her. (Same house for 54 yrs.) Dad took his own life in the garage and it is understandable that Mom is struggling to return. Since I'm the oldest and recently lost my job, I offered to stay with her until we can sell the house. My Mom is fortunate that she has all her adult children close by and 5 terrific grandkids. This is what families do; help each other get through life's challenges. Some families are not equipped. Now, to get back to my original thought, it's hard for me to wrap my head around families like the Cummings, the Anthonys, Peterson's, etc. Just makes me sick how they all cover and lie for each other at the expense of their innocent children's lives. OK, I think I've rambled enough. :(

County Forces Haleigh's Family To Move Out
Posted: 10:42 am EDT March 16, 2009Updated: 10:54 am EDT March 16, 2009
PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Putnam County has forced the family of missing Haleigh Cummings to leave the tents they've been living in for over a month.
County officials told the family they were in violation of county ordinances and property rights. It is unclear where the family has moved.
THE TENT: See Images Of Tent Family Was Living In
Ronald Cummings said he would not move back into the mobile home where Haleigh was taken from until his daughter is returned.
Detectives said they're still looking into more than 2,000 tips they've received since Haleigh disappeared. The reward is up to $35,000 for information on Haleigh's whereabouts.

It shouldn't be problem to Ronald about not having the tent, seeing as how his mother's house (which I understand has 5 bedrooms) is right down the road. He'd only been out of the house, it seems, about 3 weeks before Haleigh disappeared, so his and his kids' room should still be available.
Wonder where Crystal and her family will go--are any of her relatives from around there?

Cannot wait to see what Cummings has to say to his chief enabler, Nancy. Lemme guess; he was at work and he doesn't know anything. Lemme guess; Nancy will get some digs in on Crystal being the non-custodial parent. Aside: I've read that the Cummingses were only in the Green Street trailer for three weeks too, but they showed Haleigh's stocking hanging up.

Welcome, Maven. I too, am somewhat new and joined shortly after Haleigh was reported missing. This is a great message board with lots of intelligent minds. Lots of quick wit and humor too which attracted me to this group.

Suz, thank you again! I will most likely take you up on your offer to help along the way. As a child and family therapist, I've helped others deal with loss and grief as a professional. Took me awhile to ASK for help for myself. You are sweet to offer.
NG's voice just drips. Yep, NG is definitely pro-Ron. Her voice goes down almost like it does when she talks about her twins, or when she is telling someone get well. Get real, NG. Except that she hasn't gone quite to the depths as Geraldo, she and he seem to both be in Ronald's back pocket.
"I don't know, Mz Nancy." "Yes, Mz Nancy."
Ronald says it's just ridiculous that Crystal is doing the custody thing--it just takes the focus off "my daughter."
"Who is taking care of your son tonight?" "Do I have to answer that?" What's the big deal Ron, YOU aren't home, so SOMEONE is watching your little boy. Oh, it's his grandmother. What was so hard about that?
Oh, they are being forced out of their tents, after being forced to live in tents after being forced out of their home. (Got that wrong, Nancy, they had a home to go to, they just chose not to.) Not only does his mom and grandmom live right there, they were allowed to go back into the home, but Ron didn't want to face their "happy memories." She is outraged that they are being made to move. They aren't bothering anyone, are they? Whomever answered her was, no, but there are ordinances, and they were allowed to be there for a specified time, and that time is up.
Ron and family are now living w/his grandmother. (Right down the road.)
Ron thinks maybe Misti was still looking for Haleigh so she won't be making a false 911 call in case Haleigh is still there. He says he told her to call 911 while he turned the house upside down.
Methinks NG isn't quite so pro-Misti as she is pro-Ron.
The th's seem to be on Misti's side, tho. She's only 17, she doesn't have the life experiences to deal with this situation. WELL, FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!! ISN'T THAT WHAT EVER SO MANY POSTERS HAVE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG? OF COURSE she does not have the life experiences to become instant mom to 4 and 5 y/o kids. I've been thinking of 17 y/o girls who have babies, and women who were 17 when they had babies--and they were able to raise good kids. Possibly the difference is that they grew up with the baby, took baby step so to speak, instead of jumping into the pool in midstream.
They are shoing some of the first interviews. I remember when I first saw that, I said, I did not see tears @ all. Another poster (whom I agreed with) felt that he was putting on an extreme melodramatic act, falling to the ground, talking about being @ work, making an honest living. Not only on the first interview, but in the 911 call.
NG says, she thinks when it comes to the issue of a child, the exception becomes null and void. And, the reporter says, things before the marriage are not exempt, either. NG says, so, see, they didn't marry to get out of testifying. Oh, contraire, NG. I'm betting Ron hearing that bit of info hit him between the eyes, cuz I think that most certainly tho't marriage would get them out of testifying.

i know I do not post here often but I do lurk a lot. All I can say right now is I feel real hinky about anything there is about Misty. And you are all doing a great job on the information. IMO sara
Ronald says he personally went to Walmart and bought a dead bolt lock, and changed the locks, he knows for sure no one but he has a key to the house. And, that just might be a reason for cinder block to prop open a door. Perhaps Misti does NOT have a key, and that is how she got in and out. Altho, it does seem that she could just leave the door unlocked.
Misti was in the home w/the 2 children. A cousin visited in the home earlier (from the reporter.) NG to TN--did she know of anyone who visited earlier? TN's mother (Between 7 & 8 pm for her) and a repairman and the cousin.
Oh, since Misti's parents consented to the marriage, it's all a non-issue. NG thinks this is all just a side show and detracts from the issue of Haleigh's disappearance.
Ron tells the th that they absolutely did not get married because they tho't they would have the privilege of not testifying against each other if the need arose.
@ least he does admit that he has dated teenagers in his time.
Why did LE take the back door? Ron doesn't know, maybe for further investigation.
Is your new wife, Misti Cummings, willing to speak w/LE again? He says sure, we all want to do what will get Haleigh home (paraphrasing.)
Just as posters guessed, his "new wife" is not on NG, his side kick this time is his mom, who @ least answers questions, I don't think she has one time said, "I don't know." It's hard to tell if she looked @ Ron before answering, cuz mostly they showed them separately.
Oh, yes. NG is DEFINITELY pro-Ron!!! My blood sugar is probably about 600 after listening to her!!!!

Investigators: Misty’s Story Has Inconsistencies
Monday, March 16, 2009 5:30:38 PM
SATSUMA -- Investigators in Putnam County said Monday there are inconsistencies when it comes to the story of Misty Croslin, the 17-year-old who was the last to see Haleigh Cummings alive.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said the agency has already spent more than 30 hours talking to the teen.
Misty said she was in a mobile home more than a month ago when someone took the 5-year-old girl in the middle of the night.
However, a sheriff's captain told a Jacksonville TV station her story hasn't stayed the same about exactly what happened in the eight hours between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. the day Haleigh was taken.
Investigators have looked into hundreds of leads in the case, but said they still don't have a solid timeline of exactly when the girl vanished.
Misty made headlines herself March 12 when she married Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings.

The little experiment w/the doors--it might not have anything to do w/the locks. It might have to do with, the screen door slams when it shuts. And the other door slowly closes on their own.
Kind of snippy w/the lady who says SHE uses a bathroom further from her sleeping grandchildren--she doesn't want to wake them up. WHAT'S YOUR QUESTION!???? Uh, Nancy, it wasn't a question, it was actually an answer in support of Misti.
Nancy is NOW being very supporting of young, naive Misti, it might all be a matter of sematics.
NOW, she's yelling @ Mark Klaas!!!! First Tim Miller, now Mark Klaas. Has the woman no shame?
The other guy, sorry don't have his name, he says they took the door to check on Misti's inconsistencies. If there was no forced entry, and the doors were locked, it had to be an inside job.
NG says, sometimes they have to go back numerous times to clear someone (sure, Nancy, but HOW MANY times?)
Ron's plea--bring my little girl home, please, whoever has her I'd give anything I got to get her back home.
He ends his day by kissing his son. His mom starts and ends her day praying for Haleigh, that someone will bring her home. I feel sorry for grandma, but I wouldn't give a plugged nickel for daddy.

Just wanted to add my sympathy and condolences. May God give you peace and strength at this time.

You may be correct but I think it had a lot to do with custody. Ron can show two parents in the household Jr. has been living in. Look good in court.

Yeah. If only one of those parents/steps wasn't a girl who can't be cleared by LE in the disappearance of a girl in her care. I loved it when Cummings declared to NG that he was the better parent in court, and then qualified it with "the better provider". I think that was the crux of the biscuit during the custody hearing in '05.

I totally agree. Ron had the better job. I do think, however, if Crystal cared so much, she should have gone back to court before now. It's like she just forgot about those kids, moved on and had another. Of course, she did see them at visitation times. I just know I wouldn't trust Ron or Misty with my pet goldfish.
I just noticed something tonight. Every time Ron is lying, he jiggles his leg very very fast. He also puts his hand over his mouth sometimes before he speaks.
On another topic, I am wondering why Haleigh was scared of the dark and why she was scared to sleep in her room. Had something happened in the past to frighten her? Most children love their rooms and their beds.
As usual, JMO, MOO.

Just watching again--don't ask me why. He hasn't talked w/Misti about her actions? What was she doing up, and why did she intend to go to another bathroom when one is there in the room? "I don't know, Mz Nancy." In all the time folks are commiserating together in that tent, or when he and Misti are snuzzled up together--they never go over what she was doing, in what order? I guess he figured, she told her story to the cops, and he doesn't care, he just wants his daughter back. Well, I guess when my SO and I snuzzle, we don't really talk about things, he's too damn horny. lol.

thank-you amy! unbelieveable typing & listening skills.
yes why ,maybe the 4 are all living with sykes, & tn shouldn't be alone .
I don't know why NG would be amazed and dismayed and outraged that the mother of those children should want to take the remaining child out of that home.
"I have the full paperwork to prove it" that he has custody. Like, Ron, I don't think anyone has questioned that you have custody.
The more I think about his not wanting to answer where Jr is tonight, and the way he paused....I'm not sure that he is staying with Ron's grandmother tonight. If he was, why the hedging?
And, if TN has all that room in her home--and he hasn't been moved out all that long, why not stay @ HER house? It would be closer to where Haleigh would show up (cough) and it would make it easier for the news conferences they have since TN is usually in on that. (And that is not a pop @ TN, I think it's good that she is, she @ least says things.) Ron still mostly says to ask the questions to the LE instead of him, whatever Crystal has said or done is "ridiculous" and takes the focus off Haleigh, and he just wants his chile/daughter/baby home. I wonder if he doesn't think about the pot calling the kettle black about the focus--he who gets a tattoo (and HOW did the press know you were there, Ron, huh?) and who gets married whilst strangers are searching for his daughter. Talk about taking the focus off!!!
Oh, and I had missed the part that they weren't honeymooning in NYC, he went there for the purpose of bringing the focus back to Haleigh instead of his personal life. So, I guess his mom going along is not as weird, it not being a honeymoon and all.

i have already said a million times that i think he believes the marriage will help him, keep custody...not that it will work, but he will do whatever he can & i just started thinking about all the calling misty mommie foolishness & think TN cannot bear the thought of losing jr too & that's why she is gladly going along with this marriage to the child who looks very suspicious to many.
if crystal gets jr. she will probably not see jr very often.
they all leave her house, then haleigh is gone, now maybe jr too....
Another thing, HE just told 2 different versions of what happened when he said first, that when he came home, Misti was just standing in the open doorway. Just now, NG says, now, when you got home Misti was still searching? He says ABSOLUTELY, and then he told her to call 911 while he turned the house upside down. Now, Ron, was she searching, or was she standing in the doorway?
Oh, NOW I remember the first news conference. She had called Ron, and he was talking to her just as he was driving into the driveway. Wonder how much conversation went on, or if she just hung up the phone when she saw he was there?
That one th, he was sure perturbed that he thinks the investigation is being held up by the question of which bathroom she was going to, or who was sleeping in what bed. I don't think he understands that the entire investigation HASN'T been put on hold--they are still following leads and doing searches, for Pete's sake!!!! Even he should know that some investigations go into different directions simultaneously. That is why there is more than one detective on the case. Several can follow this concept, others can follow other ideas.

That NG, "contrary to some haters" the testimony against a spouse COULD NOT have been the reason Ron and Misti and got married. When she finally got around to asking Ron, of course he said ABSOLUTELY not---but I'm betting that they sure tho't that would be the case, if they were married they would not have to testify against each other---along with the custody issue. (I'm wondering if they watched the A's much, ABSOLUTELY seemed to be one of their favorite words. Or, maybe that's just a word used extensively in FL? lol)

(Right down the road.)
i wonder if it's really misty watching jr & then crystal's lawyer can say, he left jr alone with 17......
NG is outraged again: TN told her a week or so ago, that they did not have to live in the tents, but "sure enough" NG is still saying what she knows is not true! imo
Good to see you here, JLette! I didn't watch NG during the Duke lacrosse debacle, but I'm wondering if she ever atones for her "mis-guided" public indictments.
She hasn't so far in the Elizabeth Smart case. Can't remember the guy--I think his name was Rick? The guy who died in jail, and, of course, had not a whit to do with ES being abducted. But, when the others on the show (I think they were on LKL during that time, maybe 4 th's each night) confronted her, and suggested she owed the man, and his family an apology, she was downright spiteful and snippy, and no way, no how was she going to apologize for accusing him of being ES's abductor.
So, don't suppose she will in the Lacrosse case, either. We'll just not talk about it any more. She had her say, she thinks she is right even when it's proven she's wrong. End of story.

So glad you brought that back up about Cummings not wanting to say where Junior is. I think he is afraid that Junior will be taken. His debt may not fully be paid yet. Not sure why Nancy forced the issue on that. He should be able to keep that quiet if he wants. I realized though about halfway through the interview that Ron & TN were there in front of the trailer, not in some remote location.

Maybe Gloria A--(what IS her name? Geesh!!! CRS just hit.) Allred, something like that. Or, maybe if LKB wants an additional challange, she might be able to handle 2 cases @ once!!! If Geragos would be eligible to practice in FL, he might take a stab.
ANYONE but JW--I swear, she makes less sense than Baez.

I just have one question....where was Misti and how come she wasn't in on this interview?
Someone made a guess yesterday when it was noticed that only Ron was being advertised--she obviously can't string 2 words together, and seemed to answer "I don't know" to most of the others. So, possibly either NG, her producers and/or the Cummings camp decided she would not have much to offer in the interview.
Maybe she had to stay home w/Grandma to start getting into her role of "new mommy" to Jr.

That was kept under wraps pretty good, you'd think this would be some kind of "bombshell" for NG. I guess it could have been aired by NG or JVM as I really haven't been watching those shows much.
The comment section on articles are pretty interesting--this is no exception. Seems the locals are not very sympathetic to the Cummings Clan.

When I read that the other day I though what a kick in the teeth for Mrs. Griffis. Is nothing sacred?!
I can't see NG making any announcements that will garner support for Crystal's family though. That's Wh0realdo's job! Anyone notice that he called Crystal "honey" twice the other night and said that they love her? hehehe I guess some folks would say that it's bad enough to have Geraldo for a friend, you don't need him as an enemy!

Misty Cummings: “I Was Very, Very Scared”
We’re posting the Misty Cummings Transcript from Art Harris’s March 15 interview with the 17 year old babysitter who was watching baby Haleigh the night she vanished. You can watch the interview below:
On Haleigh: We have a very good relationship. She wants to be with me on my hipbone all the time. She don’t want to leave me. We always do make-up and hair. Every morning , she goes out looking like a queen for school.
Did I drive her to school? I haven’t driven her to school in a while, actually. Her Daddy (Ronald Cummings) has been driving her to school lately.
When he’s had a long night working, or doesn’t want to get up, then I’ll drive her to school. Along with my nephew.
I have the kids 24 / 7. The only time I don’t have Haleigh is when they’re in school.
What happened that night? Ok. She lay…I put her to bed at 8 o’clock. That’s her bedtime when she has school. She didn’t’ go to sleep…She was probably asleep in about 30 minutes.I was washing her blankets.
I laid her blanket on top of her when she was sleeping. Then I made my bed and got into bed. Then I woke up about three o’clock to go to the bathroom.
On the way from the bathroom, I noticed the kitchen light was on. I walked to the back door and noticed the back door was open, so I run back to my bedcroom to get my cell phone to call Ronald and that’s when I noticed Haleigh was gone.
I was scared, I didn’t’ know what to do. I’ve never had to go through anything like that before. I was very, very scared.
“I called my mom to let her know what was going on. I was really terrified, scared.
I ask her about the cursing heard on the 911 tape, that some thought was Ronald cussing out his fiancé who was babysitting the children while he was on the nightshift.
“He was yelling at the officers, the lady on the phone, because they weren’t coming fast enough. He was not yelling at me…Alot of people are trying to blame me for stuff, but I would never hurt any little kid.
“I love Haleigh more than anything in this world. That was like my baby. They used to call me Stepmom. They’d rather be with me than their own mother.
Teresa Neves (Ronald Cummings mother): My babies absolutely loved her, they wanted her to marry Ronald so she could be Mommy. She takes better care of the children than anyone
I ask about a squabble over what movies the children wanted to watch that last night. Misty said Junior wanted to watch Madagascar and Haleigh a Disney dog movie.
Misty: So I put Haleigh in my bedroom and Junior in the living room. They watched their movies, then Junor come in the room with us.
Asked about her lie detector test, she said, “The polygraph guy told me that I passed.”
Teresa: Instead of pointing the finger and making someone out to be the bad guy, they need to be looking for my granddaughter.
Ronald on Cobra (pro bono investigator):
“I feel like he’s doing the best job he can do to find my daughter.”

Misty Cummings: “I’d Never Hurt A Child!”
SATSUMA, Fla., March 16–The 17-year-old babysitter who was sleeping in the same room with Haleigh Cummings when the five year old vanished says she doesn’t need a lawyer.
“Lawyers are for guilty people, I have nothing to hide,” Misty Cummings tells me in an exclusive interview the day after coming home from New York City and a Today Show interview with her day old husband Ronald, that critics say raises more troubling questions about the story she’s told police.
Misty wore blue jean shorts, and a t shirt as she climbed out of her new husband’s white pickup emblazoned with the slogan, “Only God Can Judge Me.”
Her new mother in law, Teresa Neves, gushed with praise for how much Haleigh and her baby brother, Ronald, Jr., aka Junior, loved Misty and how they couldn’t wait for her to marry her son, Ronald.
He was working the night shift at a nearby plant when he says he got a chilling call from Misty: she couldn’t find Haleigh anywhere, and the back door was wide open, propped open by a brick.
For her part, Misty said they called her “stepmom,” and claimed the children prefered her over their own mother, Crystal Sheffield, 23, who lost custody in 2005 when a magistrate ruled the children would enjoy a higher standard of living with the father.
He also cited Crystal’s admission she’d done cocaine. Ronald denied he did any drugs, despite a lengthy record of arrests, but no apparent convictions.
Crystal told me in an exclusive interview that she was afraid to tell the judge where she’d gotten the drugs–Ronald, allegedly– as he stared a hole through her in court, she says. “I was afraid of him,” she said in our interview, describing partying that began with pot, then pills and cocaine.
Her lawyer, Kim L. Picazio, a veteran family lawyer and mother of three, says Ronald began feeding her drugs shortly after he started dating her at 14. He would certainly deny it.
While I spoke with Misty and her new mother in law, Teresa Neves on Sunday, a colorful, pro bono private investigator from Broward County named William Staubs, aka Cobra, put his arm around Ronald, and wandered around the corner at the CITGO for a heart-to-heart.
Cobra, a six foot, 250 pound self proclaimed “hillbilly” who counts over 8,000 fugitives, 200 child molesters and one terrorist he’s brought in, tells me he assured the skinny, grieving father his only mission was to find Haleigh, or “the scumbag who took her.”
While a task force of state, federal and local police, lead by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department runs down tips anjd leads, Cobra says he’s been hearing from locals who have been providing him with confidential information they just “dont’ feel comfortable telling a cop.”
By Monday night, he counted 100 tips he’d either chased down and dismissed or was still actively working. And as he was refueling at a local convenience store, a weeping Teresa Neves, Ronald’s mother, pulled up in her red pick-up and pleaded with him to search a swampy area leading to the lake behind his trailer, and off they went to tromp in the woods. Neves said she’d spent four hours looking around, and became unnerved when she spied what looked like an underground pen that appeared to be a “tiny jail.”
After an hour following Haleigh’s grandmother through forest thick with palmettos, cotton mouth snakes, black recluse spiders and black mud black mud that made a sucking sound when Mrs. Neves made a wrong step in her sandals and white jeans, we became separated and found her down a long dirt road. She said she’d spied a long cotton mouth snake and made a run for it.
We emerged at the house of an ex-Marine who said we were lucky he’d unloaded his gun. He didn’t like strangers in his backyard, and asked if we’d seen the no tresspassing signs. He said law enforcement had searched his home and others in the area several times, and sent divers into the murky lake behind him that’s thick with alligators.
As for the underground “jail” Neves described, he said they were hog pens, and totally innocent. “I’m just here to find Haleigh,” Cobra explained, “so we got to check out any credible lead.”
In our interview, Misty told me she believed she’d been cleared as a possible suspect after a polygraph examiner told her she’d passed her lie detector test. But police refused to confirm it, and sources close to case told me no one had been ruled out and that they were looking at several individuals, closing no doors.
In fact, sources tell me they may want to speak with Misty again to clear up timelines from the night Haleigh vanished, and other areas of interest, including one relative the family says they consider their number one suspect.
Watch our Misty exclusive and let us know what you think.

Interesting. Now, it's she's coming back from going to the bathroom. Wonder if that means, the kitchen light wasn't on when she WENT to the bathroom, but was on when she came back?
And, before, it always sounded like, she could see the back door open from where she stood when she noticed the kitchen light on. Now, it's she WENT TO the back door and found it open.
And, first time I read about her calling her mom. Now, she went to the bedroom to get the phone to call Ronald. Now, she doesn't say that she actually called him @ that point, just that she got to phone to do so. So, did she call mom before or after she talked to Ronald?
and:
Ronald on Cobra (pro bono investigator):
“I feel like he’s doing the best job he can do to find my daughter.”
What? No comment about the abuse the man has uncovered? Or, is it only the lawyer who has? I was thinking COBRA was kind of in Crystal's camp. Maybe I'm wrong, and he's in HALEIGH'S camp.

Amy, it's really something isn't it? Misty sounds rehearsed, but still leaves more questions than answers!
This was the first that I've heard about her calling her mother too. I do specifically remember earlier that she said that she went back to the bedroom to get her phone to call Ron.
Someone called in to Prime News to ask about Ron saying that he was on the phone with Misty when he got home, and then later telling Nancy that she was searching when he told her to call 911 and he would tear the house upside down. Galanos didn't have the clip, so they didn't get very far.

im not 100% sure of course but in the experience i have had most mobile homes are set up very similar to each other if not the same so bear with me here, this is of course just an idea i had based on how MY mobile home is layed out. my back door is actually IN my kitchen so here it is.
perhaps while going to the bathroom she noticed the kitchen light was on and went to turn it off and then noticed the door being open. went back to get her phone and then saw that there was a child missing. i am not trying to take up for misti by any means, but that part of her story COULD make sense depending on where the back door is in relation to the kitchen and where the kitchen is in relation to the bathroom she was using at the time. idk, just an idea

Ditto, to both Loretta and Amy. I never heard of a phone call to her mother. I was jsut reflecting on moRON's interview w/NG last nite. Wonder why NG gives him such a break; can't believe she's not more confontational with him UNLESS she is hoping he'll trust her (NG) enough to make a slip-up of some sort. Or, maybe that's just a word used extensively in FL? lol)
I agree that they married for custody reasons. I know a man who did that. He married a clueless woman who did not realise that he wanted custody of his daughter. He got custody and that marriage was a disaster. His daughter was a toddler when this happened. He was a wonderful father. Her mother was an alcoholic. Today she is 21, back with her mom and hates her father for taking her away from her mother.
BTW, His attorney told him he would not get custody if he was single.

Neither Crystal or Ron should have gotten custody of the children at that time of the custody battle. Crystal needed some healing and losing her kids may have encouraged her to get straightened out. (I fully believe he fed her drugs since she was 14) Ron, obviously wasn't a good choice for the Judge to grant custody.. He lost her anyway.
I'm seeing a lot of emotion and maybe some guilt in his mother. She may not be a rocket scientist, but for Lord's sake, she knew his lifestyle. Why gamble with the lives of children? I think Ron will lose custody for the simple fact that he wasn't able to keep Haliegh safe. That's reality.
Crystal appears to be in better shape to handle her kids, and maybe she's right and he tricked the system into letting him get custody. But we can't tell by a few cameo shots on TV, what she is capable of at this time. Jr, should be in safe hands right this minute. I hope he is.
As for Misty, to quote Loretta, "Meh" Misty is a nit wit.

I completely agree with your entire post, Dan:beer: I heard Ronnie say to NG the other night that the judge awarded custody to him because he was "the better provider (or only provider)". He added this at the end of saying "he was the better parent." I'm with you Dan, the court failed these kids. I'm actually hoping Crystal does get Jr. back. He certainly doesn't need to have a rage-a-holic father as his primary role model. JMO.

You got it drewberry! He was making more money maybe, but he was no provider. He wasn't providing safety by leaving his children with a 17 year old who was second runner up to a mindless idiot.
Besides that, if Crystal fed herself, she could have fed her kids. What does an extra pound of pasta cost per week, or a couple of jars of peanut butter?? Kids don't eat much and medical could have been provided by the state, along with financial assistance. There are food banks all across the country that would have fed those kids. What the heck was the judge thinking? I've known mothers who were so poor, they used a dresser draw for a baby's bed, and no one kidnapped them. We need to know more about Crystal.

First, I about LMAO @ the "day old husband" --he certainly acts about as mature as a day old baby sometimes--only he has a bigger vocabulary.
Hmmmm, NOW, he was WORKING when he got the call from Misti? If so, why did he have to ask her why she was standing in the doorway @ 3am when he got home? (Per the NG interview where he and ma were sitting in front of the tent, after they got home from New Yawk City.) They REALLY, REALLY need to make up their minds on several things--the sleeping arrangements for one. Another is, who got up @ 3 am, Misti or Haleigh? AND, was Ron @ work when Misti called him, about home when she called him, or she called his phone as he was turning in the drive? If she called him @ any time before he got home, he would not have had to ask what she was doing up @ 3am, in the door way.
Justice Denied?

You know I got that impression also. I think Crystal was really upset about Ron getting married. Maybe it's because he never married her or maybe she still cares about him even though she appears to have moved on with her life. I have always felt she acted like she was jealous of Misty.

I don't see her as being jealous, and if she is I'll be glad to talk her out of it! She knows she's lucky to be shed of Ron's abusing self. She knows that not only did Ron not marry her, he didn't marry the other 16 or 17 year old baby mama either. Nor did he marry any of his other jailbait girlfriends that we know of.
I'm betting that any time Crystal showed up for visitation, Misty was out buying a pack of smokes or something. I'm betting that there was never any effort by the Cummings Clan to introduce Misty and Crystal, in fact I'm betting opposite.
Crystal is probably like most of us; appalled that Ron&Misty would get married for Haleigh's sake while she's still missing, appalled that Misty is the one holding up the investigation, and appalled that Ron would go to such lengths to avoid statutory rape charges (which is my theory for why they got hitched).

Thanks for the link.
LOL@day old husband! So it's true, TN did go on the honeymoon to change Ron's didee.
Here's another inconsistency that JVM brought up last night from the NG interview the night before:
...VELEZ-MITCHELL: Wow. Well, as you said, Misty Croslin has spent more than 30 hours being interrogated by cops. They don`t have a clear idea of what happened that day.
Here`s what we do know. At about 5 p.m. an air-conditioning repair man visited the home. At 7 p.m., Haleigh`s great-Grandma, Inez Sykes, came by with clean clothes. And she says she saw Haleigh with Misty.
And last night on "NANCY GRACE," Ron and his mom Teresa Neves gave differing opinions of whether or not a cousin stopped by. Listen closely.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
NANCY GRACE, HOST, "NANCY GRACE": There was a repairman there. The cousin was there who police have investigated. Who else?
TERESA NEVES, MOTHER OF RON CUMMINGS: My mother came by that night.
GRACE: For what reason?
CUMMINGS: My cousin wasn`t there.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
VELEZ-MITCHELL: Did you hear, very, very softly Ron says, "My cousin wasn`t there"?
So they can`t agree over even whether a cousin was there...

yeah, Loretta. I heard him say "my cousin wasn't there" while his mother was talking. Not sure why NG didn't follow up (maybe she did but I didn't hear it). I think moRON is lying for Misty about something. I think the only reason he married Misty is to keep from being nailed for statuatory rape. What a bunch of looooooooosers! Haleigh is missing and moRON is only worried about his own ass.

TECHNICALLY SPEAKING wasn't it Misti's cousin who allegedly visited that evening? Misti's cousin who was visiting in the area? Misti's cousin who is allegedly a sex offender? If so, Ron technically would be correct in saying HIS cousin did not visit that evening. IMO

HLN news: Cobra called in to Prime News and said first of all that he is Haleigh's PI. He wasn't hired by Crystal or Ron, but is working pro bono. Secondly, he said that he expects a resolution soon, but wouldn't elaborate.

New Details About Evidence In The Haleigh Cummings Investigation
SATSUMA, Fla. -- Sitting in the driveway of Misty Cummings former home is a van driven by her sister-in-law. The light blue vehicle doesn’t look like anything out of the ordinary, but it was something investigators thought important enough to impound and analyze at their crime lab for weeks.
The woman who drives that van is Misty Cummings sister-in-law, Chelsea Croslin. Misty was the last person to see Haleigh the night she was taken. Chelsea said the family got the van back just before the weekend.
“They put a lot of tape on it, and there was a lot of white powder on the windows, I guess that’s just to check things,” said Chelsea.
“We all started thinking about what could have happened that night…I realized the van was in a different spot.”
Chelsea Croslin said the night Haleigh disappeared, a family member was staying with them. She says around 4 a.m., when Misty called them to tell them Haleigh was missing, they went outside to the van to drive to Haleigh’s home. Chelsea said she immediately noticed the van was not in the same spot she left it.
“I know I don’t park like that, and I was the last to drive the van.”
After a few hours, another sign the van was tampered with appeared.
“The day Haleigh went missing, everyone was looking for her…she (Misty) called me later that night and said 'Chelsea, please tell me you’re the one who put the scratch in my van.' I started crying and told her there’s no way I put the scratch in her van," said Chelsea.
A scratch leading from just behind the driver’s side door handle to the back tire is very visible. Chelsea said that scratch was not there the last time she drove it.
“The scratch---it runs all the way down the van. That’s something someone would know if you’re riding against something and steadily scratching it.”
All police would say about the van being impounded is that it was taken to the FDLE’s crime lab in Jacksonville, analyzed, then released. They would not comment on any specifics of what was searched or if anything was found in the van.
Chelsea Croslin believes the only explanation is that at some point during the night Haleigh was taken, the family member staying with her took the van. Police said they have tracked that man down and questioned him. They also said he has not been ruled out as a suspect.
“I’m not accusing anybody…it’s just me being a mom and believing what I believe and piecing things together. I almost feel like I might know who it is,” said Chelsea.

Well, I'm still confused. This is Misty's van? (How does she make payments on a highschool dropout's babysitter salary?) But her SIL drives it? Was the family member staying with Chelsea or Misty? I thought when Misty spoke about the "van they took" early on she said it was white?
These reports are messing with my head.

There have been accusations by some guy, maybe Chelseas' husband, that Joe drove the blue van and put the scratch in it just before he left for Tenn. The white van was said to be Tommys, Mistys' brother.

Was this Misty's van or Chelsea's?? What a confusing mess. Just now watching NG. Nancy needs to back off of Crystal a bit; she needs stop protecting moRON and listen to Crystal's experience as a DV victim. I'm not defending Crystal's lifestyle of taking drugs and allowing an abuser to take custody of her children. BUT, I do believe Crystal was very young, lacked any self-esteem, and education. She was living under Ronnie's rageful control and most likely did not think she had any power to do anything. I also think she lived in fear of him, even after they split up. If Ronnie beat Crystal, he is most likely guilty of beating his children. Ronnie-Boy is a rage-a-holic, and needs to be arrested for felony child abuse. His stupid "wife" and mother and grandmother are lying to protect him. He makes me sick.:flamemad: JMO.

What another team of Liars??? Or are the mind altered to the point where they can't recall walking from one room to another?
Thanks for straightening out blue van vs white van question. So are we thinking, who ever took Haleigh scratched the blue van? And that they haven't ruled out the guy from Tenn?
I think you're spot on about Ron's relationship with Crystal. And I think Loretta is right about Crystal being horrified about the marriage last week because Haleigh is missing. Timing was an issue with her. (Not jealousy)

Watched NG, but had some interruptions, and I agree that Nancy needs to back off with the spite towards Crystal, BUT I did want to learn more about the false police report. Was that ever explained? Do we know where or when?
Is it me or did Nancy go CSR? Crystal suspected abuse in the past and reported it, but now she has corroboration, so her attorney contacts DCF. Or did I miss something? And I get that Ron had never abused the kids while Crystal was there to take care of them 24/7, but if he was beating her, wouldn't she have had fears that he would vent his rage on the kids? Yes. Okay. So when she left, she took them with her. But he ended up with custody. When did the abuse to the children begin? So far as we know, nothing has been substantiated. Is that because it's bogus or because Florida is lame when it comes to protecting children?
JVM noted that there are records of police calls to the Cummings household for loud fighting(?), is that at TN's or the new address? Did Misty actually live with Ron at TN's? How many times were LE called to the Green Avenue address? JVM also noted that Misty has no criminal records, but she's only just now an adult, so that's no surprise.
God help me, but Mark Klaas is wrong. This is exactly the time to bring attention to whether or not Junior is safe from the same threat that took Haleigh. And with so little information from LE, there is no way to know whether or not Haleigh's having gone missing has anything to do with Cummings or whether or not he's responsible. Being clocked in at work doesn't cut it in this case.
