View Full Version : Nancy Grace beginning to cross over into "Witch hunt"

I am an avid Nancy Grace watcher...used to love her show, but it's getting to the point that she is using the public now for her own witch hunt.

Example, the commisary issue....all inmates with money in their account, innocent or guilty use commisary. Nancy tears apart every item... a sprots bra is cheaper then a regular bra, and big deal on the snacks. This doesn't show to me, anything about the girl....that as an inmate she ordered commisary.

The big issue over her wearing a gray suit in court. And, your point is???
If any of us guilty or not could wear something in court other then the blue suit...don't tell me you would not. You'd be lying to yourself. Furthermore, the dumb suit was cheap, pooly made, and did not fit correct on her shoulders at all. Is something wrong that the women combed her hair? She is not at a bar, not at a concert..she is in a buisness court situation that required her to wear a suit if she could. She got the chance, and wore it.

Note, even one of her guests tried to say that they couldn't understand the big issue, and she cut him off, didn't let him really speak after that. Seems like if anyone is raising the cheerleader pom pom on EVERYHING said...your against Nancy. Your on Casey's side. NOT TRUE.

I personaly look forward to the day when they hopefully say "sentanced to death" and the camera is on her snub little face. Yet, I want a case that is not sensationalized to the point of rediculous. One can barely find a decent thing about Casey as it is, why don't we spend prime time over that. Instead of latch onto any tidbit we can...and turn it into a sensation. The show takes up prime time every 2 hours, and is repeated thru the night. Geesh.

So what if she smiles at her lawyer. Csey has a habit of a giant smile on the norm anyway. All pics show that. The size of her mouth does it. This is a person basicaly in solitude 24/7, and this team of lawyers are the only life line that she has. Guilty or not, it is all she has. Desperation even in guilt would cause her to smile at them. If anything but a silent deserate "please like me" in her head "no one else does". She isn't laughing in court. She simply smiles in aggreance to what they say, and smiles at a hello instead of convo. Again, we tear that up. If she cried, we would tear that up also.
We use prime time hour after prime time hour with Nancy Grace to focus and witch hunt simple issues that are basicaly norm...but not after Nancy Grace is done with it.

The last issue that no one wants to discuss is the baby blanket. How is that a connection to Casey, except that Nancy say's it is? Again we sensationalize this. What ever Caseys next lie is going to be, and I'm sure there are many more to come, the end result is that becase Caylee was a baby it was probable that the blankey be burried with her. IF there had really been a baby sitter that killed her for example, that baby sitter would have had the blanket. Any parent (and your lying if you say NO) packs up some fav toy and fav blankey to hand off their baby to the baby sitter. That is NORMAL. So the blankey was going with Caylee. If an intruder had abducted her, it is most common to snatch the baby from it's home or area taken to keep it QUIET and CALM by something familiar, and also to help conceal it. So thus the blankey would again go.
Who ever had the baby last, had the blankey also. Be it a baby sitter, an unknow murderer, or Casey. That blankey pretty much stayed with the baby where ever it went. It's not really a connection to Casey at all.

In my opinion what is a connection psychologicaly is the sticker heart. To me that says a female did it, (most men wouldn't think of a little heart sticker) and the fact that it was a heart sticker. It also says that someone young more then likely did this, because true adults...don't exactly have the fetish or thought of stickers. Thats a young mind type of thing. I wouldn't mind Nancy tearing those issues up. Theres a zillion issues on this women we can tear up. Valid ones. But if there isn't something new to add on for the day, then Nancy is grabbing at prime time coverage to sensationalise just about ANYTHING.

Good points, PT. Nancy Grace can be annoying but she performs a function, just like the National Enquirer. And NG wouldn't have a show if people didn't watch it. People like to know the sensational details of Casey's life -- her snacks, her family squabbles, etc. It's a daily soap opera.

I am guilty for spending too much time obsessing about this case.

I know that other reporters such as Greta Van Sustern spend time on the case, but are not as sensationalized as Nancy Grace. Most people know that Nancy Grace was victim of crime early in her life: her fiance was murdered. NG decided at that point to become a lawyer, and specifically a prosecutor. Her show reflects a kind of vigilantism that is unique on TV. With, NG, you either love her or hate her. I know people who won't ever watch her show.

I have grown to appreciate the victim's rights perspective NG brings. If I want "fair and balanced" I watch Greta or Lou Dobbs. Ha!

Zingo,
I like Nancy Grace and her passion, thats why I watch the show. Well, am about to STOP. We all have traumas in our life. I'm sorry her fiance died, I had a husband killed...yet I still know how to seperate issues. I like to hear the stuff she talks about. The commisary, what she orders, the ti bits in personal life and so forth. All this can be done without trying to act as if ....it is wrong. Thats the point I some how left out, and went past 30 minutes to be able to edit. When I did try to edit it, I rewrote a big part of it. I added how I went to dinner with friends and we discussed this case. I spoke about the connection with the blanket, and they all looked at me odd. Like why was this a onnection? The blankey would be where ever the kid last was anyway. Abducted, baby sitter, at home, with friends. I was like "well, uuuuh...." Later I thought about it, and realised this women had me all cought up in right and wrong about the case. They only had facts from tv, and non sensational people as you mentioned. "fair and balanced" .

This is true about the blanky - it would be wherever Caylee is, but the connection is, from my understanding it's a Winnie The Pooh Blanket which matches the comforter set from Caylee's bed in the Anthony home.

Welcome to CL. :seeya:

Hi PT ... I agree with everything you wrote about NG, except I can't figure out how you're just now noticing that Nancy Grace is an "over-zealous" prosecutor. That's what she's been doing her whole career! I don't think she's done anything different with the Caylee Anthony case than she did with the Scott Petersen or Natalee Hollaway cases or any other high-profile murder stories with attractive or sympathetic victims. She fills up 45 minutes of airtime with her attacks on the accused, repeating anything negative over and over again and jumping all over the defense attorneys who attempt to provide a more nuanced commentary.

Nancy Grace may be for victim's rights, but sh is all about entertainment. She is the National Enquirer of television. My biggest question is does Nancy intend to be over-the-top or is she ignorant of how she's become a parody of herself?

The blanket? I agree with One2Snoop. It's not the fact that a blanket was buried with Caylee, it was the fact that this was apparently part of the matching bedroom set. It would be the equivalent of hauling your bedspread or comforter to the baby sitter's house everyday. I don't see that. If there was a blanket Caylee used in the car, then I could see that.

The reason I watch Nancy Grace? She says what everybody else only THINKS about. She comes right out and calls a spade a spade. Ha!

As many here know already, I do consider the commissary to be wrong. Not just that Casey has access, that anyone with money has an easier time in jail than others.

And NG has often made it clear, her point on the commissary orders is, what wrongly jailed mother accused of the heinous, possibly capitol, murder of her child can sit there and think, gee, I'd like a strawberry Poptart after I moisturize?

Exactly! ITA!

I wish NG would get it right about the crabmeat and shrimp cocktail LMAO - its shrimp flavored cup-a-noodles I do believe!

She's been corrected on this a few times IIRC - but this is from Thurs 1/29/09 transcript LOL....

GRACE: You know, that`s an interesting question that I`ve been wondering about. Out to Natisha Lance, who is standing by at the courthouse. She`s been joining us from that jailhouse. Natisha, expensive bottled water, chocolates, fruits, I believe it was crab meat, all types of amenities there in the jail. She just had another commissary order. Where is she getting the money?

Oh, and if I could get sartorial for a moment, I WOULD prefer the blue jumpsuit. Nothing looks as "prisoner" to me as that gray 80's monstrosity. While I am glad Jose knows about Goodwill, since I approve of re-purposing, it was hideous.

you know it would have been nice if it had been a full suitdress that fit with a cover on the chest. It did not even fit which to me really caused attention. not including all the laughing with the attorney. I am so glad I do not get emotional on this one anymore and so is my DH. more like a show now. Caylee is in heaven. IMO sara

I think on one show it was mentioned that a donor had something similar happen in their family, and it was like an act of mercy more than support, if that makes sense... My criticism of Nancy is she is really, really rude to most of her guests. If they don't answer what she wants, she puts them down or cuts them off . And anybody gets commissary orders if they have money in their account, no matter what the crime. That is how the jail makes some of their money after all. She needs to drop that line and also the fact that they revamped her. I wish she would talk about the evidence and stop being rude. I have many friends who absolutely can't tolerate her rudeness and won't watch. I used to prefer Greta until she became a poltical junkie and began to run reports on this case that were really, really false and amateur. Still Nancy does get things right most of the time. I just think she has gotten too big for her britches. and her rudeness to guests is most off putting. The night she attacked Jessica D for referring to Casey by her first name and accused her of cosying up to the defendant was just ridiculous. I have noticed that she has a constant cast of characters rather than regulars because probably they get tired of getting reamed when they are just trying to impart info. She was always edgy but once she had those babies her hormones just did something to her! LOL. I joke, well maybe just a little. Also I know this going to get me kind of some negative press of my own on here, LOL but sometimes she reminds me of Kathie Lee Gifford, the way she talks about her kids. I find it kind of overdone. I know, I know they are cute but really I don't think you can get through on her phone lines unless you flatter her or the kids.

Well if someone wants to do something in the name of mercy, take in an animal that needs a home or give money to a worthy cause. It is beyond me that people donate to Casey, who is me, me , me, me ...

Maybe she does need a break from Caylee. She did mention little Adji Desir in S. Fla. tonight, and the reopening of the Jon Benet Ramsey case. She has her quirks, but I think she does some good by what she is doing if she lets them finish talking. lol I would be skeered to go back on a show if the host was rude to me, but I have some sympathies to NG. We were born in the same town. ;)

It doesn't matter that the blankey was her Winnie the Pooh one from her bed/crib. Those blankets are so small, the size of a large towel.....that if a person doesn't have a special travel blankey alone, then they grab the one most familliar with. In Caylees case it would be the Winnie the Pooh one. I had a georgous blankey for my kidlette. It was stunning. So stunning that some jerk stole it. She slept with it at night, and she went with it to most places we took her. We tried many new ones to replace that blankey....she was ok with one certain new one....but nothing like the original blankey. These kids just know.

I have actualy been on here a long time. Got in an accident last year, and stayed away for a few months...but when I tried to log back in again...I was vanished. lmao But ty, for the welcome

I followed a link on here, and it actualy had a download of the money Casey has gotten. There were only 3 or 4 people who gave her money. I believe only 3? One was 75.00 One was 50.00, another was 25.00 It shows a photo copy of the actual MO's mailed. No one sent a check. It also showed the jail house commisary list. Nancy knows all that anyway. She just keeps saying the words plural, just exagerating as usual.

NG comes accross as being mean, rude, hatefull, disrespectfull person.
The night she came down on the female lawyer Renee (whats her name) about how she reacted when her husband was killed was just plane MEAN.
She's the type that can dish it out but cant take it. Put her in a format where she's not in charge and doesnt have the first and last say about things and you'll sea a different person.
She nothing but a selfrighteous, arrogant bully.

Another 30 seconds about the 6yo missing black child.

Nancy Grace cares about one thing and one thing only-----RATINGS-----
She's out done Kathy Lee Griffen with Cody. She outdone Greta with the Natalee Holloway saga. Remember she keep calling JV's father a lawyer. She knew dam well he was not a lawyer. I wonder how many innocent people has she put in prison. How many family's has she destroyed?

While i'm at it. Why does she have LP on every night sprewing his BS?
She's in the dumpster, she's in the river, she drowned it the pool, she fell off ther balconey, Lee's ther farther, the dasey chain.
This clown is going to be heart broken if he is not on the witness list.

I can say one thing for her--SHE HAS ME HOOKED ON HER NEVER ENDING, CLIFFHANGER, SOAP OPERA, REALITY SHOW---gotta go she's coming on now

There was a link the other day on the discussion thread that addressed this. I do remember the comment that she gets donations from all over the world. Guess whatever floats some peoples boats. I don't know if those people think she is innocent, or if they just feel sorry for her, sitting in jail and it seems her folks would not be able to contribute much.

I wonder why some of these folks keep coming back for more of her rudeness? Sometimes, I just feel so sorry for the person, until, on some of them, I remember I have seen them come on time after time, getting cut off time after time--they have to know that if they are not in agreement w/her, they won't even have the chance to get their point across, because she is going to cut it off @ the pass.

"Well, Nancy, it could be..." "WRONG ANSWER!!!!" "THAT'S NOT THE QUESTION!!!!!" "Jane Vasquez Mitchell from HLN ISSUES, could YOU tell me..." She already knows the answer SHE wants, and God forbid if someone else is going to bring a different light on the subject @ hand.

I wish NG would take a break from covering the Caylee case. She could cover other missing children, the Pietrzak murders, and Travis Alexander murder case.

In the past couple of weeks, I have seen her give some air time to Adam Herrman in KS (altho some of the info was wrong, including some things she got a high dander up for. If she had the correct info, she could have saved her indignation for other matters.) She has talked about Renee P. from Kansas City. And the re-opening of the JBR case. I know there are several others. Of course, each day she devotes maybe 5-10 minutes to another case, but not the same case consistently, just a few minutes for a bunch of cases.
