K-now all good in the beemer house  I realized as i vented we both got the brunt of the unruly children and the know it all girlfriend :cuss: Now we are chuckling. I did add if i wanted to kill ya i would pick another method and just might pull it off leaving no trace :D kiddin ;) Thanks for the free therapy guys  I truly worry for these children but all we can do is let them know there are rules here. Mom is whack and turned into a hoochy mama. These kids say such innapropriate things. Youngest asked me upon their arrival after stating i had just showered and readied for work "So you were naked" THUD!!!! She is 4 :flamemad: :cuss:  Thank gawd we can pick our friends since we cant pick our families-even those we aquire thru marriage
I hear ya!! I love the hoochy mama part. I have major problems with three step-grandsons. It's awkward being the step-parent/step-grandparent. They drive DH nuts too, but he hides away in the sunroom and just keeps turning the volume of the tv up.
Samantha - I believe the game actually starts at 7:00, not 6 - sorry.

Share away Bob when time permits-poor you and Shady that is a difficult one-the step thing. It's terrible when they all come thru my door it just raises the hair on the back of my neck  What the hay is wrong with parents. Both parents have dragged each other into court-she beat him up on the street after chasing him down and pounded the peewaddle outta his new car-that i dont doubt as he has independant witness's. She counter claimed he raped her and confined her a year prior to bringing charges. Nephew had come over awhile ago and sked DH if he would serve the soon to be ex with court papers. DH told him are you nuts i am not going anywhere near her or getting involved in any way or i may get accused of something. He wanted to save $ by having hubby serve her :cuss: Like what world do you live in fidiot. Judge said lets drop all of this and work with a mediator for the sake of these kids.

My niece was that way growing up and I gave her so many limits and so did my brother at his house she actually preferred staying with him or me.
my sil now has 2 kids- 2 and 3(and she just bought them a puppy!) and they are pretty unruly. they have been good up to August and I have not had them over since. I meet up with them at mil's. I speak up everytime they need it. I do not hold back. when they come here again they will hear it from me if their parents don't say anything....so there..........sara

So...my beef. and this has happened more than once. There I am sleeping soundly at midnight, having a dream where I am successfully evading the police who are pursuing me (those are the BEST!), when suddenly a male voice yells in my ear "what are you doing?!!!!" Yes, the 4 year old was climbing in and mussing the blanket. The DH woke me up from a sound happy sleep with that...I was awakened in terror. I couldn't get back to sleep until 4 am. grrrrrrrr.

Yeah my dh does that and we have no kids. it amazes me. he will wake me up to tell me about a dream or ask me a question. he goes to sleep much earlier than I do and I have asked him to let me sleep but I get 4 hours or less. I would not dream of waking him up ever.

Well, I am a San Diego fan because of a running back that plays there so it really doesn't matter to me. One of the reasons the Chargers are not playing tonight is that they didn't use him enough. Mike is a bulldog and they think the sun rises and sets on the other backs they have. Mike has the highest average of yards per rush and averages 11.5 yards a catch as a reciever. They don't use him enough.

Nola could have run more in that last drive instead of passing. Colts are getting the ball with way too much on the clock. I approve of the 2 pt attempt, though. Gutsy to try to lock overtime, maybe

Mike Tolbert. He played at Coastal Carolina where my son went to school. He was an undrafted free agent out of college who was a starter as a rookie. He hurt his shoulder at the end of the year and Jacob Hester, high draft pick, took his place. He had several touch downs this year both running and recieving. A true underdog. He is 5' 9" and weighs 245 pounds and is very fast. He will start next year I am sure and should get more carries.
New Orleans doesn't need an excuse to party. They do it every night. Not a big fan of that city.

I was there in the off season and stayed off Bourbon Street mostly. I loved hearing the live music and eating the food. But hated the bead throwing trashiness of bare breasts for sure. I briefly forayed onto a Bourbon balcony and girls were baring their chests for plastic beads. I yelled 'how cheap are you? they're plastic beads!' My problem stems more from how the entire city acted during and after Katrina. They didn't prepare, did nothing to evacuate people and then expected the world to stop and bale them out. SC and NC get hit by hurricanes just that bad and worse but know how to prepare and how to get the heck out of Dodge when one is on the way. We also don't expect someone else to clean up the mess. We do it ourselves. Neighbor helping neighbor. Seems to be a foriegn concept down there. There it is "sit here and wait. The government will clean it up for us." Then all they worried about was getting "party central" ready for another drunken party instead of helping people get out of trouble.

I know what you mean. I saw more than a couple of people demanding to know where the government was...I can't think of anybody who did anything right there in Katrina and after. Maybe the Coast Guard, who started rescuing people even though the feds wouldn't officially give them the go ahead.

Remeber Hugo? I live 100 miles from where he made landfall. He was still a cat. 2 storm when he hit my home town. FEMA was a desk in a building with two people who would fill out meaningless paperwork for you.
People who lost everything were helped by their neighbors who had salvaged a little. My neighborhood shared food that we had saved from freezers that did not have power. We were without power for weeks. It would have been longer but we got together and cleared the power lines that were left so the power company didn't have to. It saved time. We also had to clean up our own yards. No one came to help with that. I don't have much sympathy for those people. A small town near NO was completely wiped out. I had a friend who lived there. He found his home three blocks away sitting in a street. Bay St. Louis is the name of the town. They didn't make the news. Just NO and the Mississippi river boat casinos. You know, party central.

I think one of our local stations did some stories on Bay St. Louis...it was totally gone. It's like our earthquake out here in '89: SF and Oakland were all over the news, but Santa Cruz was nearer the epicenter. The media creates the story in many ways.

Kinda started yesterday when his nephew dropped in with his 2 little one's and the girlfriend. I luv kids but these one's make me crazy. No discipline. We speak up tho. Girlfriend is nice enough but a know it all-you should do this you should do that-shut the hay up i barely know you :cuss: Not hubby's fault but it set the tone  Then they crayoned on my signed Robert Bateman coffee table book while screaming for tuna after they opened my fridge 100 times. I'm trying to get ready for work and hubby trying to coral kids. Then the subject of his high cholesterol came up and he replies rudely-ya she thinks i have a death sentence-I only need to watch and change some eating habits. Ohhhh the tone of voice :cuss: I replied if i wanted to kill ya i would shove red meat down your throat 6 out of 7 nights a week instead of the opposite. So with that i grabbed my work bag and left for work early-shutting the door a bit harder than usual  Then i come home and find one of my treasured scarves on the floor and some of my dresser items re-arranged. I ask-where those kids playing in our bedroom. Yep they were till he shooed them out. Greasy finger prints all over my laptop screen. I think he got the brunt of the unruly kids from HIS side of the family i might add. It just cheesed me off bout the diet thing as i am on board as well and i certainly dont dictate what he puts in his mouth. Thanks for letting me vent :cuss:
Remember that song: "You always hurt the one you love
The one you shouldn't hurt,,, at all"
I think we all do it.
Your hubby's nephew needs a tune up aye! Not the fault of the children. They are like puppies and need their mommy's attention. She's the problem.
Isn't it strange how we attack the wrong person? We either go after the weebs or we go after our husbands. lol! :)
I know children so well and it is common for them to be curious. If their momma's don't teach them social skills they are like wild mustangs. You can't teach them anything in an hour except how to treat you while they're with you. Sigh... Poor beem. I'll send you my rolling pin honey. Keep it on the kitchen table, it's intimidating.. ;)

So true. We have cousins who live in CA who wouldn't DREAM of living in KS, cuz of the tornadoes. We tell them, @ least w/tornadoes, we generally have a warning which allows us to take shelter. W/a quake, there isn't even "take shelter" as an option!!!
W/Katrina, I do remember the buses lined up to evacuate--but people woudn't get on them. I don't remember all the particulars, but pretty much like you said....the govs of the other states acted PRIOR to the storm--the mayor of NO and the gov of LS couldn't be bothered so much.

I've ALWAYS been a HUGE Who fan (my Who CDs are ALWAYS in the car with us when we go out-Katye loves them, too!), but yesterday's halftime show saddened and disappointed me.
One thing to remember is Roger and Pete are pushing 70 years old!!
No more high wind-mill leaps from Pete-for fear of a broken hip or back!!! He sounded GREAT, though, and his guitar work is STILL beyond compare!!
And Roger-poor guy!!! He hasn't aged well. And they re-wrote most of the music to accommodate his lower vocal register. He just can't the higher notes anymore, I guess. He may also have vocal cord nodes. I know of several vocalists who've had them, and needed surgery to restore their voices, and while they were waiting for the surgery and in the recovery stage (2 to 6 months) they were advised to modify their range to give their throats time to heal.
And The Who will NEVER be the same with the losses of Keith Moon and John Entwistle. Keith was a MASTER of percussion, and there's a reason John was called Thunder Fingers. He's STILL listen in the Top 10 All-Time Best Bass Players in just about every single musician's poll taken.
You just can't replace guys like them!!! They were ORIGINALS.
I felt really bad for Katey. By the time she really got into their music in the late 90's, they'd mostly given up touring, so she's never seen then in concert, except on tapes and DVDs that I have, and that just isn't the same as their earlier live shows.
Sadly, I think it's time they hang up the tours and concerts, and stick to the studio where they don't have to expend as much energy as the live shows.
But they got up there and gave it all they had.

Not sure why my SIL doesn't take the bull by the horns  if it continues they wont be allowed back thats for sure. It seems since last summer these kids have gone amok. I've only seen them a coupla times since they turned into little demons ;) Yeah gotta luv it when these treasures continue and everyone stands around trying to figure out how it happened and who's fault it is :cuss: I'm just glad we are not directly in the picture :chicken: Mom's too busy cybersluttin and hanging at the local "I feel pretty bar" so lord knows what these kids have seen. Dad needs to grow a backbone. Mom gave them daisy duke shorts for xmas too. Yep 4 and 7-lets raise em to be hoochy mama's :flamemad: Lordy i could go on but i wont  Makes ya grateful for all the good folk and family in your life. I luv my kids :rose::rose::rose:

He rebuilt. Doing well. Those things come along about every 10 years or so so you just have to evacuate and hope for the best. Seems every place you live has some sort of problem. You can't move away from all of your problems. Just prepare for them.
Ha!!!
I hate the thought of earth quakes, wild fires, monsoons, flooding, tornadoes, mud-slides, hurricanes, and volcanic eruptions.
I'll keep my cold, windy, snowy, stinky, Buffalo weather, thank you very much!!

I've seen it happen a lot when families break up.
These days, everyone feels they have to be soooo ultra careful to protect little Bobby and Suzy's fragile little egos and be their new bestest best friends, instead of saying "families break up-it's not your fault-we're all sad, but it will get better as we get used to the new arrangements, and NO-YOU DON'T NEED a NEW BIKE, COMPUTER, VIDEO GAME SYSTEM AND WARDROBE, but I WILL find a nice therapist we can all talk to so we can work through this till we all feel better."

We do get lots of tornado watches and warnings in our hot humid summer's. So far so good. That's why i like the Phoenix area. Of course some flash flooding here and there and i have driven in a sand storm and ended up with a smashed windshield but it wasn't so bad. If ya can do a snow storm ya can do a sand storm. ITA about their dad and his slinky backbone. And the way kids dress these days starting from age zero. They sell hoochy momma baby clothes, I swear!
I was talking about the belly button shirts puberty stricken girls wear these days and poppa told me a little quip he heard from a speaker on his high school graduation day. He gave a quote about "kids today" don't respect their parents, don't obey rules, are insubordinate, dress improperly and on and on.. then he told me the speaker named the owner of the quote; it was Socrates or someone like that and the quote was a century old. lol!
It's a real scary time for the parents of young kids today.. I hope it passes real quick. When my last one was in high school the style here was so ugly. She wanted to wear jeans that were too large for me!!! Her peers were walking around with their pants falling down. I couldn't stand that style and sent her back in her room a few times to try it one more time. She was mortified that I didn't understand.
One night Poppa and I were at a store and saw a few girls her age. From behind them I thought they were all my daughter. Poppa looked at me and said, We're needing this wake up call here. I was sure I died and woke up on another planet. When I remind her today she hushes me up. She's got style now baby.. she is an accountant. lol! Her uniform consists of two piece suits from Banana Republic. lol!

Yeah thats pretty much when we see most of DH's family-xmas and a few other times. Most of em are whack so it's all good with us. There were years when some of us didn't speak at all. We were all good with that too :D I left it up to hubby to coral the kids as i was not in the mood to deal with their grief so i just left ;) and left him to deal :D I did get the crayon off my Bateman book so i guess the kids get to live ;)

Dexter is off for the season. I don't know when it's coming back, probably in the spring? You're going to like Dexter. He's a killer you love to hate to love.. lol. I've seen all of the seasons so far and I still can't hate him/ It's a kind of story that satisfies you somehow because the most animalistic killers get what's coming via Dexter. When he's not killing bad guys, he's the most tender and gentle soul you'll ever see. It's weird Beem, real weird.
He gets them in a position where they can't move and he shows them pictures of their own victims and they have tape over their mouths and their eyes are like,, UH OH! Then he kills them slowly.. But throughout the flick you're on the edge of your seat because sometimes you don't know if he will get them and you start rooting for him. Then you scratch your head like, What am I doing? That's why poppa calls him F-Dexter! lol!
PS THe sidelines to the stories are great! His sister works for LE but doesn't know. His Coworkers love him etc.. great program.. I think..

My mother would not go to the beach with me unless I wore a one piece bathing suit. She thought my abs were gross. I was ahead of my time LOL. My abs were so tight that when I was pregnant the first time I didn't show when I was 6 months pregnant. I went to my in-laws for Christmas Eve and had excruciating abdominal pain. DH took me to the hospital where an ultrasound showed that my abdominal muscles tore from the inside due to the pressure of the baby. I had to wear a maternity girdle for the rest of my pregnancy. Abs were never quite the same after that.

Somebody needs to tell these bands when it's time to pack up and retire. Loved the Who, back in the day, but this show completely sank. I prefer to remember them the way they were.
I'm not a Danica fan, but DH is. Saw the move to save her car - oh maybe 20 times. I like her. She makes things a little more interesting for me.
Yeah Saints!
The thing I like is that she is fiesty enough to compete out there. Too many ladies who tried that try to be too nice in a race car. That does not work in a stock car. Gotta use "the chrome horn" sometimes.:D

At the ripe old age of 10 my son decided to smart off at mom for the first (and last) time. We were in the car and when we stopped in our yard and he got out I grabbed him in the collar and proceded to pick him up off of his feet and have a short, pointed conversation with him about how he was to speak to his mother. He hyperventalated (sp). My wife asked me later why did I scare him that way? I simply told her that he was going to be much larger than me and that I needed to do that when I could still scare him and not wait until his teens when I had to hurt him. It worked, he has never talked to his mom like that again. He is 25 now and when he appears to be headed down that road all I have to do is give him "the stare". He changes his mind. he is now almost 6' and weighs about 245. He still has a little of that "fear" of dad.

I was hit by Charley, Frances and Jeanne in the same summer of 2004. Charley was horrible. Two oak trees across the street came down and another oak tree acutally pulled up a septic tank and dropped it in the street.
I had no electricity in August for four days. I had my own water and canned food. No one came by to see if I needed help. My neighbor cut my tree that came down and I paid another neighbor to put my fence upright again. After every storm, I found more shingles on the ground. By Jeanne, there wasn't much vegetation left for the wind to destroy. Everyone lived with wooden shutters on their windows for about four months.

Wish I was there in NOLA to help them celebrate!!
They really know how to throw a party, and have had damned few reasons to celebrate since Katrina!!
Mardi Gras is officially a week longer this year, I guess!!
Congrats to NOLA and the Saints!!

Okay-who's got the Saints and who's got the Colts today???
Katey and I have the Saints!!
I LOATHE football, but LOVE the commercials and The Who, so I'm in for the duration. I'd rather be skinned, salted and ragged through crushed glass than watch a game, but for Roger and Pete, I'll sit through as much as I can stomach.
In about 15 minutes I'm mixing my first vodka and 7-Up, and I'm ordering steak subs for dinner.
Right now we're watching UnderWorld: Evolution...a disturbingly creepy vampire/werewolf flick.
I'm also trouble-shooting Katey's laptop as we speak...gonna go black as soon as I do a disk-wash and a defrag. Then I have to go to PCPitstop.com to check the computer online.
But I WILL BE BACK!!
I'll be half way to comatose by the time I hit my bed...might even take a little nap before halftime.
Hi SJ13. I love the commecials too but was disappointed this year. I loved the Doritos commercial about the dog with the bark collar. I thought the Bud light not funny. I guess I'm too old to find them humorous. I liked the coke commercial with the guy sleeping walking in the African veldt. I'm a sucker for the animal commericals.

Dexter is on Showtime so you need that channel. It started the season in September and it's over now. But you can rent the dvds. I bought the seasons on Amazon. I just finished the second season. Holy jumping jelly beans. That was intense but every now and then they add some very dark humor which is just hysterical. Makes you wonder about people.....you think you know them but do you really? Scarey thing is he was able to pick out a serial killer's next victim and he said a single woman who lives in a house not an apartment, no roommate or kids, no dog. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-scared004.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php) Time to get that pit bull. Yeah...been there, done that-TWICE.
With myself and my oldest daughter. But we didn't have computers in our homes then. I was basically scared to death to do anything MAJOR as a kid, just because I knew the look I'd get from my grandfather-and the lecture that would follow.
Jen was a handful and a half. She nearly had me ready to run away a number of times.
Katey's basically an AWESOME kid...just annoying when she goes idiotic. She makes a brief excursion to brain-dead about every 18 to 24 months.

Yeah, but at least with earthquakes, we know where our stuff is after :) Our house is mostly seismically stabilized. The only things left are putting in a cripple wall and a chimney brace.

I really wouldn't suggest a hunting rifle for self defense. It may go through your house and into the house next door. Not good. Now the wasp spray? Don't know about that one but the mace does work. Tasers are a little dangerous. My wife's hand gun was bought to fit her hand. She has small hands and couldn't handle the one I had. She also had a father that was a police officer for some years who taught her to shoot when she was young. She really doesn' like to shoot but she can. I always liked the saying, "nobody ever raped a .38." Well, we went one better. The bullets we have in it were loaded by me. I tested them with a cronograph so I know just how fast they come out of the barrel and how much damage they will do. I also know she can handle the recoil. When we lived in the country we also had a german shepard. Big old furry love muffin. She wouldn't hurt a flea, UNLESS, my wife were home alone. Then, all bets were off.

We still watch the old fashioned kind of TV. I like those light ones, they are nice and big. I saw some in BJ's Saturday and the 52 inch plasma was 1900 dollars. Beem that sounds like something we'd see in a sitcom. I don't know whether to laugh or cry! I'm sure her reaction was knee jerk but I would have had a blue baby if my DD ever reacted that way. She got one slap in her life and that was the night my father died. I guess I wasn't in a good mood. She had a few friends over and they were all camped in her bedroom making the sound of roaring laughter spill out into my kitchen. I went in there, told them to simmer down or leave, and my 16 year old snapped at me for embarrassing her.. I got off my chair that night... :cuss: bada Bing!
it truly was-my daughter is me-always has been. Having parental moments like that is a rite of passage. Steph is feisty and I'm proud of the 29 year old woman she is. It's so neat that everyone here can share and we are of a generation that gets it.I worry bout the next one.

Your daughter sounds lovely Beem :) My oldest is a remake of me in looks and personality but she's smarter and much more with it than I am. I'm half stuck in the 60's generation and I am occasionally shocked by her acceptance of things I can't wrap my head around, like gay marriage for example. She say's , Ma, get over it. lol!

I hear ya-i did well in school but Steph got so many awards-highest grade 12 average. Science award and Chemistry. She worked hard and had to work hard to get the grades. The boys everything came easy. I drilled time management into them as i knew one day you will have to learn how to study. I guess they did when away at school as we were not there to oversee it and they are doing fine. Thats all we hope for. Do well. Give it your all and be a good person. Eventually good things will come your way.If hard times come you are being tested and have something to learn. Life in a nutshell. Its so heartbreaking when we hear of kids here that never had a chance. So many parents who are a waste of skin and airspace :cuss:

LCD has been ruled out-dont ask me why  It's LED or Plasma and it's been researched above and beyond. I have heard tv lingo i did not know existed. I just said today make a decision you run a business for gawd sake can ya not buy a friggin tv. Oh electronics are important and one must never get ripped off. I appreciate practical purchases but lordy this cant go on for any more months than it has. I'm still fighting for the Boze sound system-now that matters :D
Well, I have never heard of an LED tv. LED usually stands for Light Emitting Diode but who knows. I would like a Bose but I looked them up and the one I want with the wireless speakers cost as much as a used truck so I guess that is out. (3 Grand or more)

Aw yes the crusader syndrome. It sounds like your son has a really big heart and yes they seem to have to go thru that. I think you and the Mrs. have given him a good strong foundation. My SIL died after surgery at age 42. He would have lived his life as a straight man had she not died. He was that devoted to her and family-despite the dysfunction on my hubbies side. My hairdresser is one of my best buds he is gay and married to his husband  Legal in Ontario. I luv them both. They are classy guys. Dont think i could do the sleazy gay thing. You know the one I hate? The "religious" people who proclaim that the gay lifestyle is the ultimate sin. I do not agree with it BUT, it is no different that the little old ladies and little old men sitting around gossiping about each other. Or the "religious" people condemning others because they are different. You need to clean up around your own front door before you try to clean up around another's.
People seem to "demonize" the things in life that they, themselves, do not struggle with. Oh and don't tell them they are sinning by condemning others.
I have had gay friends before and I probably do now and don't know it. So? They are friends and that is what counts. I also have friends who lie and cheat on their taxes (and other things) but I don't condemn them for that either.

My nephew came out and I'm pretty much over it now. I always adored him. And I learned there are gay putana's too. ;) My neighbors are a gay couple and I've taken them out for dinner and lunch because they are more than gay, they're brilliant people and I love talking with them. They've been here for dinner and parties as well.
At first when they gays came out, I didn't know how to feel. After a while when they began to have actual purple weddings, I was sure i couldn't understand it. I still don't but on a personal level, if they're nice people I go with that. My DD was laughing at my shock however. LOL!

A wise old colleague said something to me years ago i always remembered. We have a very diverse group of friends and they truly enrich our life. We were talking about friendships and how sometimes they truly frustrate you but yet parts are so enriching. He said to me you don't have to give up the friendship but you can define the lines of places we differ and if they can respect that and just don't go there then continue. I do that today and i am a better person because of it.

I mean please who would chose that way. There is scientific research that it is something gay people are born with. Samantha - I sense you are a little ticked off at DD. I have a problem every time my son comes home from college and uses my computer. He has his own laptop but it's just quicker to get on mine and mess something up. Gotta keep those updates current.
It's backwards in my house. DS still shares my computer somewhat. He is the one who tells me he has something updating, or if he watches me and thinks things are slow, he will tell me to do this, that or the other. DD has her own computer, so only comes on mine if I ask for some help. I am the one who is impatient while the updates run. I work 12 hours a day--surely he could do all this stuff then!!! lol

The docs were discussing the commercials this am. Made one dinky little comment about the game--so guess they watch for the commercials, lol. I had work to do, so didn't get to hear much about them. I guess there are sites where you can watch the best and the worst, or even all if you want to!!!
In the words of my beloved mother. "Do you want me to give you something to cry about." Worked with us. We knew what that something was and we didn't want any.
That seemed to be Mom's favorite saying in our house. No, Mom, I have something to cry about, I don't need you to add to it!!! lol Mom was the disciplinarian. Just having Daddy SAY something to us was far worse than Mom's giving us something to cry about!!!! He CUSSED @ me (us, there was usually another sister involved) twice that I remember growing up. Now THAT was enough for me to toe the line. Do you remember the time when DAMN was about as strong a cuss word as there was around? lol
Do you believe this delay of the trial? I have a feeling stuck-on-stupid liar is going to fire them all. She isn't going to like that delay thing, It means she has to sit there. I also have a feeling Jose is prolonging the agony of death row which will be a lot worse than her nice uninhibited present cell.
2011????
She might not be as delusional about the verdict of this trial as she puts out to be (or that her mom and lawyer put her out to be.) She probably knows that her little private room in the local jail is much preferable to the accommodations she will be getting in the big house. And, here, she is a big fish in a little pond. Where she's going, she is going to be a little fish in a big pond. Gonna be a lot of people like her there--she's not going to be anything "special."

I love the painting and with all the background she is not bad. I do see the castle on the right now and that looks good to. what I was referring to (and this is not an insult to your work please know) anyways and I might be crazy but it looks like at the end of the walk is an angel. Just me though. painting has a lot to offer Nawny
Thanks sara.. I didn't see that before but I see it now! Hey, that's very observant of you! I think I'll play with that theme a little. I have the Venice painting gooing now and it's so detailed I am sure I bit off more than I can chew artistically.. but when I'm finished with it, I'll go back to the fat head and work on the angel a bit more. Thank you! :)

My thoughts on art. If a painting was "perfect" then it would be a photograph not a painting. Paintings show both the subject being painted as well as the personality of the artist. Looking at all of your paintings that you have shown, your warm, giving, caring personality shines in each one of them.

LOL!
The story about your SIL is so sad Beem. :( Her husband sounds like a decent human being.
I just wish the issue wouldn't keep coming up on the ballot out here, either way. It seems like every election now there's an initiative on one side or the other, and then massive legal fights follow :( So much anger, so little civility.
imo, the government has no business issuing marriage licenses for anyone. Gay or straight, it should only issue domestic partnership licenses to deal with the contractual issues of the partnership, and leave it to the individuals to work out the marriage part with their ceremony of choice. I was really offended that I had to get a license from the state to get married. It's all about collecting the money.

Oh "tell me about it" LOL I dont know why this purchase has caused him such research. I guess we live in the day of too many choices. We try to make careful purchases as most folk do today. I guess i shouldn't talk. I have been vehicle shopping for a year. I would rather bamboo shoots shot under my finger nails than buy a vehicle. I "know" I'm being ripped off. Worst investment we make. I was really leaning to the Ford Edge after reasoning the Sky was not a practical purchase. Then i learn after talking to a salesman the base sticker price is 40 thousand:eek: Could someone splain to me why vehicles are so much cheaper in the U.S.? Even if i buy a product thats built here in Canada we still pay the jacked price  What the hay. Back to my thought of the Honda civic i guess. Still a few crossovers I'm looking at :cuss:
I'm going to take a guess that it is hidden taxes or fees. That's usually the story out here in California. Like, gas is way more here than elsewhere because we pay 60 cents a gallon in state taxes. joy.

THe Ides of march. hmmm, my mother used to say, "March ah Batz!" (March is crazy) According to the weather warnings, we are also expecting to get hit with 6 to 10 inches, which isn't much really, around here. But right now, it looks like a spring day. I was thinking I'd better get out today and enjoy this day because we will be true recluses tomorrow and Friday. But I did my 30 minutes on the gazelle and took my shower and decided to hang in and do some overdue editing. I have over 00 pages to work on.. and tomorrow I'll be too busy shoveling. So I have to vacuum too, and dust the upstairs devoid of life rooms.. see me doing it? Well intentions are valuable, minus effort. :hat:

Sara you're an artist in your soul. As history tells us, the most famous of artists were depressed souls filled with pathos... and poets as well wrote their best works while in the throws of devastating sorrow. Most were misunderstood, but I believe some of those with the audacity to reveal the human condition in the weakest hours, scared the majority. No one wants to identify with grief or pain so they try to disclaim it - and criticize the artists.
I suppose that is why there was so much posthumous art. Just my opinion, of course, but if we look at Micheal Angelo alone, he was poor, even while he was painting the Sistine chapel. Michael Angelo lost his entire family to the plague. He left his commissioned work in the Vatican, rode back to Florence on a donkey to see them and found only one brother alive in the homestead, as the rest of the family had died or left him there. Michael Angelo got into bed with his brother and told him, he would die with him. Of course for some God know reason, he did not die with his brother, but returned to finish his work, which is universally renowned and done in terrible agony... why it is was so surreal IMO.
Of course we know what happened to Vincent. So many have lived and died so hard, and left us so much. I'm just a novice compared to real artists. But I will say, I always paint when I'm miserable ;) It distracts me.

I agree-to a point.
She WILL be something special.
She'll be the one who's murdered her own child, among a bunch of women who MISS their children.
She'll be everyone's SPECIAL TARGET.

In my zipcode, the cheapest gas is $2.89 at KwikFill
In Cheektowaga-where Mom lives-$2.85 at KwikFill

Minimum wage is $7 something.
There was a time-back in the 70's & 80's-when we would hop over the Peace Bridge to Fort Erie to get gas and Chinese food on the cheap with the great exchange rate, but those days are GONE.

Yes, if you look at the original painting Monet did, then mine, you can see that I changed the dress, and the landscape. That model became his lover, then his wife. Monet was quite intense and gave his parents a butt load of problems. He wasn't into school, he wanted to paint. lol, gee, I wonder why? ;)

The highest (recorded) IQ in history?
I found this on Google.com: Shoulda known.
There is some disagreement when it comes to the world’s highest IQ. Marilyn vos Savant is an American magazine columnist, author, lecturer and playwright. It is Marilyn vos Savant that has the highest IQ according to Guinness. Her IQ is 228; however, the test that resulted in this score was taken b Marilyn at the age of 10. Eight months later she took another IQ test and this time scored 167+. Guinness retested Marilyn in the mid-1980s and on that test she scored about 186, which is still very good. A score of 186 is in the 99.999997 percentile, or about 1 in 30,000,000.
It was Marilyn vos Savant who made The Monty Hall Problem controversy. The Monty Hall Problem (named because it sounds like a game show scenario) is as follows: Suppose you're on a game show, and you're given the choice of three doors: Behind one door is a car; behind the others, goats. You pick a door, say No. 1, and the host, who knows what's behind the doors, opens another door, say No. 3, which has a goat. He then says to you, "Do you want to pick door No. 2?" Is it to your advantage to switch your choice?
It seems like the logical way of thinking would lead you to believe there is a 50/50 chance of winning the car if you switch or stay with your original door. Marilyn vos Savant claimed that there was a 2/3 chance of winning the car if you switched. Letter poured in to her claiming she was wrong, but indeed she has been proven to be right, there is a 2/3 chance of winning the car if you switch doors and a 1/3 chance of winning the car if you don’t. The easiest way to explain why this is so is simply because when you originally picked your door you had a 2/3 chance of picking a goat. So if one goat is gone and it is 2/3 likely that you have selected a goat switching the door would give you only a 1/3 chance of picking a goat and thus a 2/3 chance of winning the car. Genius at it’s best.
There is one man who supposedly has a much higher IQ than a mere 228. William James Sidis’s IQ is estimated to be between 250 and 300. This has never been confirmed however. If you want to learn more about Sidis check this link out.

Anyone catch Sara Palin's tea party talk? The members of her tea party paid $600.dollars a seat to hear her bash Obama. She was tooling on him so bad, she at one paint spoke out to the air and said, "Hey, how ya doin with your changey hopey?" According to her, America is gearing up for a new revolution. She better not quit her day job, but she had to have been paid a year's salary for that speech eech!
Then she exposed the palm of her hand and there was ink pen writing all over it. Duh?

I'm working from home today. I have a blizzard warning - wind gusts to 40 miles an hour. With all the snow on the trees I expect they will be falling, hopefully not on the power lines. Another foot of snow coming today, about 6 inches fell last night. Yipee.
I'll work on the scapbook thingy too..... counts as work, right?
LOL! Well you're up! Me too, since 5:30am. No snow here yet but it's in the air. Supposed to get here this afternoon. I'm ready but my nawny behind aint going out there, nope. I'm going to work on the Venice painting. I hope the water doesn't stink. What housework? What laundry?? I'm going to goof off all day. :hat:
As your middle name is work, you should be fine. lol! Shady (Capricorn) daisy! Enjoy a productive day. :)

You know, I'm a Democrat and I received a phone call from the Florida Democratic Party and the first thing said was bashing the "other side". I pitched a fit. I said, politely, that I am tired of the name calling and criticizing of one party to the other, regardless of who says what. Don't call me again until you have your own party to discuss. Tell me what Dems want to do and not what the other side is saying. I am sick of the whole process. They are like a bunch of whiney kids pointing fingers at "who did it". I'm thinking of a Boxer - a boy will definitely be Atticus. A girl, maybe Lexy or Lola. I had a dream with Gator last night. It was such fun. I remembered what a happy dog he was and how he always looked at me with such a sweet expression on his face. Funny, in my dream I knew he had died and was coming back as a spirit. He was running up and down the street and I let him do it because I knew he couldn't get hit by a car.
Mac needs a friend although he has eight cat friends. He tries to get them to chase him when he's in the yard but they don't so he just runs around by himself. He misses his big brother. :rose:

It's another responsibility. Often our biggest vacation expense is the kennel. Of course, we could always take him...but then I picture 8 hours in the car, and then trapped in a hotel room with him, and then dropping him off at the Disneyland Kennel (yes, Disneyland has a kennel, lots of people don't know that!). Just for you, Gator!!
Room In Your Heart
Sorrow fills a barren space;
you close your eyes and see my face
and think of times I made you laugh,
the love we shared, the bond we had,
the special way I needed you -
the friendship shared by just we two.
The day's too quiet, the world seems older,
the wind blows now a little colder.
You gaze into the empty air
and look for me, but I'm not there -
I'm in heaven and I watch you,
and I see the world around you too.
I see little souls wearing fur,
souls who bark and souls who purr
born unwanted and unloved -
I see all this and more above -
I watch them suffer, I see them cry,
I see them lost, I watch them die.
I see unwanted thousands born -
and when they die, nobody mourns.
These little souls wearing fur
(Some who bark and some who purr)
are castaways who - unlike me -
will never know love or security.
A few short months they starve and roam,
Or caged in shelters - nobody takes home.
They're special too (furballs of pleasure),
filled with love and each one, a treasure.
My pain and suffering came to an end,
so don't cry for me, my person, my friend.
But think of the living - those souls with fur
(some who bark and some who purr) -
And though our bond can't be broken apart,
make room for another in your home and your heart.
--- Caro Schubert-James ---
When it's time, YOU WILL KNOW!!!
Hugs-
