Narrow penne, my personal favorite, lots of peas and the sausage was crumbled. I did put Parmesan on it. I am hanging my head in shame. I brought cottage cheese for lunch today. This will make you chuckle - I tap dance rather than use a treadmill.

JLette - I know what you mean! My DS, 2 years older than DD, has fallen from trees, off bikes, down an escalator, you name it. Nothing ever happened to him! My cautious child slides into a pool and gets hurt. My DS does have a hard head.

Me, too! We have a lot of concrete in the backyard, too, so I was living at the emergency room (they finally told me to stop coming back unless I saw cerebral fluid, lol!). Then I started sending him out with a bicycle helmet, and now its covered with dents and abrasions, but he's not.

lol yea exactly, luckily we have a lot of grass and what not outside, but inside our house we have linoleum floors and high traffic carpet with no padding, AND my mother next door has all hardwood floors, so we have to watch the boy like hawks to keep his little head intact, especially since boys play sooooo rough

boys will be boys

I'll whisper...penne pasta with sweet sausage and peas in vodka sauce. I did close the deal with the client.

Honestly, you don't. You just have to hit it in the right place. DD had a head injury when she was 10 that looked like no big deal. She just bonked her head while going down a slide into the pool. It really looked like nothing. Fortunately DH was home, even though he is a veterinarian and not a people doctor, he noticed something off immediately and called 911. By the time they got there she was unconscious. Short version - she had surgery and did recover. She's 17 and just has a scar where they operated.

Head injuries--you just don't know which ones are going to turn out bad. A little girl fell out of a shopping cart in a local store--no bump, seemed to be okay--died. A kid I grew up with was in a car wreck. Not one injury could be found on him-except a bruise @ the temple where he hit the rearview mirror. He died. Like you say, it's not necessarily the force of the injury, but WHERE the injury occured.

My nephew fell down my steps. He was willing to lay down (a little unusual for him, he was pretty active.) I watched him like a hawk, his mom checked on him thru the night after they got home. He went to school the next day, was sent home for vomitting-he had a concussion, thank goodness it was "mild."

This makes three (that I know of) "well-known" folks dying of head injuries in skiing accidents. Sonny Bono and one of Robert Kennedy's boys. You think of breaking a leg or something in a skiing accident, you just don't think so much about dying of a head injury. Of course, I think running into a tree might have been the problem with Bono--too long ago to remember.

LOL!! You and I had the same grandmother gator!!! Love comes in all sizes and nawnys come in all kinds of house coats.

I am proud of myself today because I worked myself up to 15 minutes on the treadmill. I started with 5 minutes last week. I thought about what you said about proteins, so tonight for supper, I broiled Italian sausage, boiled broccoli and garnished it with olive oil and garlic. Then I made a tomato salad with black olives, feta and onion and put just a little olive oil. So I had some good carbs with my protein. I figure if I do 15 minutes a day on the treadmill, I should fit into my spring clothes by Christmas ;)

We put a TV In the room with the treadmill so it's not as boring. I hope to get myself up to doing 20 minutes by next week, then 30. That's enough. lol!

I was going to make ravioli tonight, because I figured it wouldn't be fair to put poppa on my diet, but then I remembered all the times he put me on HIS diets, so I said, Eat that, and shaddaph! ;)

Next time you see that skinny guy,, throw a brick at him!
:hat:

That dinner sounds better than the ravioli. Tomato salad with feta is fabulous. I made broccoli and cauliflower last night for dinner and had lots leftover so tonight, I made a frittata. I diced a small red potato, onion, grape tomatoes, spinach and the broc and cauli with a little olive oil and cooked it in the micowave for four minutes. The I scrambled three eggs, added about 3/4 cup of eggbeaters, one tablespoon of romano cheese, 2 slices of muenster cheese and one slice of American went on to of the vegetables and then I poured the egg on top of that. I put it in the oven for 15 minutes and it was just beautiful when it came out. It takes a lot more work to eat healthy, but it's worth it. I also have plenty left. Vegetable carbs are great. White carbs are not good.

Keep up the good work on the treadmill.

I like a tuna salad made with the low fat mayo, cubed apple, and cubed sweet pickles. No olives, pimentos, or onion powder.

I had a friend who owned a sandwich shop and she made the best tuna in the world - her secret - she put Italian style breadcrumbs in the tuna to make it bulkier and go further. It also made it delicious. whenever I went to her house, she would make me tuna.

Poor Donna died at 41 years old of a brain aneurysm. She told me that she wanted to have children as soon as she was married because she had a premonition that she would die young.

A good drink is Vfusion made by V8. There are about 4 different flavors.
Each 8 ounce glass gives you a normal serving of vegetables and a normal serving of fruits. They make it in both regular and lite. The lite has 50 calories per 8 oz glass.

Excellent suggestion. I bought small cans of V8 and have them at my desk so when I need a pick me up at 2:30, I reach for a can. You can also make the regular lite by adding water and it's less expensive.

Tuna and boiled eggs always go good together. I love the Pastene Tuna in olive oil. In my area you will often see Italian Tuna on menus in Sandwich shops. It's Pastene with black olives, onion, and a touch of vinegar. Yummy! Tuna makes everyone lose weight. It is a great staple. Yesterday I made a big tuna salad so I can pick on it when I'm hungry.

Last night was a challenge. I walked by the candy and the Baileys on my way to the den and conquered my weakness.

I just looked but I didn't touch. Then I fell asleep during NG and suffered in my sleep. ;) I never got upstairs to bed.

Must be an Italian thing because I always ask for vinegar on my tuna. Brings out the tastes.

From what I heard this morning on tv from a dr. is front or back head bangs are are less apt to be as severe as side head bangs. Your brain can go back or forward but there is no room to go side to side.

Last night we ate ourselves stupid! THe food is magnificent. Mainly Italian cuisine but so many unique entrees. I ordered Veal Saltimbocca with shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and fresh caprese salad. The pasta premiere was gnocchi with pink vodka sauce for two.

Poppa ordered veal chop with capers and wine sauce and stuffed oysters on the shell with spinach mozzarella cream stuffing, and Cesar Salad.

THe wine was Pinot Grigio Stratiatele...

We chatted a bit about the kids (Our favorite subject) Then I was telling him about Charlie Manson and how he
ruled those young runaways and he made them obey him... And I wondered why he and I couldn't get employees to walk from one side of the room to the other without complaining. "Waddiya gotta be Charles Manson to get anyone to work?"

Then we talked about cults and those days when the kids turned against the establishment.

So he goes into a long dialog about how he went shopping at VALUELAND one time during those days,,,,,pause,, and he was single. And he was putting his shopping away in the trunk. Then,,,,, pause, ,,,,,,, a man approached him
and handed him an incense stick. "And I took it. And said, "What the hell are you selling?" and the man said, I'm selling nothing. I have a message and I would like you to join us in a meeting so we can explain what it is we
do. And so then he tells me he's a Krishna..."

I looked at him waiting for the rest of the story. I say to Joe: "Your story has no punch. No teeth. What was the
point of telling me that stupid story Joe? So he says, "Ah, it's punch ya want? Well, I kicked the guy in the balls and threw him under someone else's car." Is that better? I said, "Yes. Now tell me Joe, if I die are you going to get rid of my clothes. He said, "Well what the heck am I
gonna do with them?" So I said, "Wear them you bum! And force your next wife to deal with it!" Then we laughed all the way home. I had a great birthday night.

See what a little Hagnog will do? :hat:

Thank you everyone for making my day even better! You are all so nice.

oh my Dan don't you remember the Krishnas? they scared me almost as much at the Manson family. funny you bring that up this week with CNN showing his latest picture(manson). Maybe you are psychic!!!! glad you had a good birthday and great food. sara

Hey Nawny, you'd be so proud of me today at my car mechanic's shop. I brought my car in to have the air repaired in december - $548. I brought it in again on Thursday - the compressor went and some other stuff - $941 including oil change. I didn't drive two blocks when I could tell it wasn't right. Told them what was happening and they knew right away what the problem was plus I told her that the winshield wiper fluid wasn't checked, neither was the radiator reservoir and i don't think he checked the tires like I asked them to do. I picked up the car and she said he checked the tires and they were low so he's putting air in them right now. She said it was an inexpensive fix on the air $85.66. I went nuts. Told her that the problem should have been found last week since I described the problem perfectly. And $85.66 is not a cheap fix when I already spent more than $900 three days ago. The manager said that the problem would only be detected when the gas pedal was pressed aggressively and they tell their drivers not to drive that way. I said first, I could tell there was a problem within two blocks and a mechanic should have felt it immediately and as for aggressively using the gas pedal, "I don't drive as if I'm in the Nascar circuit". Case closed - no charge.

Gator

plus, tomorrow morning when it is light outside, i'm checking the oil dipstick to make sure the oil was change.

Gator I never win those arguments. That is what makes me glad I am married. I just let DH take care of it. but I went 30 years of arguing with Mechanics before that. Good for you. Nice to know it happens. sara

Yes, bambolini, they are high in protein..and high in fat! and, unless you are going to stay on Atkins to maintain, when you go back to eating those goodies, the ratio changes. I meant chickpeas LOLOLOL anyway, get a nice big can, Goya has THE BEST, better than any Italian brand I've tried. I drain and rinse, cause the stuff inside makes me retch. lol... in a bowl, with extra virgin olive oil, a bit of water ( you want enough liquid in there to marinate those garbanzos, ok) and cracked black pepper, sometimes I add fresh parsley when I have it...microwave about 1 1/2 min. and stir it up. I eat it with carrots, sometimes I mix in chunks of Ugly Tomatoes..so healthy and filling. Chickpeas = steak for protein. Also what's great is Wasa flatbread, also called Kavli flatbread.... All fiber! Mix tuna in 1 T low fat mayo and a handful of spanish olives with pimentos. I use onion powder then, cause I like just the taste of the olives with the tuna. (no chunks of onions even though I love em). Put it on the flatbread, which you can find in any supermarket in the cookie and cracker aisle.

I could live on both those things...and baby, you'll lose that weight cause you will still be 'working it' on that treadmill! Try it or Dr. Goldfarb is gonna kick your butt! hahahaha

(MMMMMMmmm 'bread coolie' is the best, especially fresh from the bakery and dipped in a nice meat sauce while it's cooking!) STOP it! Now I'm Hungry!!!!

OS have you tried hummus?.........sara

Last night poppa and I were talking about the dogs we've raised in the past. He dreamed of Penny, his favorite. He said, "I wonder if we will see them again when we cross over. He looked so happy in my dream. I betcha they go to the same place we go when they die."

I tried to remember the beautiful poem someone posted here about the "Golden Bridge?" I lost it on the other computer. Does anyone have that? It was beautiful. I want poppa to read that. Thanks :)

Then poppa put me out to pasture and my hormones were stolen. Now everything I eat sticks. Momma MIA does it ever!

You're right Atkins is temporary. I do know that less carbs does work. I buy Dreamfields Pasta. 5% Carbs. I had a cup of that tonight with clam sauce. And a BIG BIG salad. I did tuna for lunch. NO BREAD coolie.. boo hooo...

You are doing much better than I am Dan. I admire you determination. I know summer is coming up and I need to change sometime.DH says the same thing too. they do not make a big enough uniform for him anymore at work. can you buy clam sauce already made? sara

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I initially lost weight on two of my pregnancies. The last one--big time!!! In my case, I think it was because I really started eating better, or right, more nutritious, whatever you call it once I knew I was pregnant. A month or so before due date, doc was yammering @ me because I was only a few pounds above pre-pregnancy weight. Told me NOW is not the time to be dieting. I told him, look @ the initial drop in weight, look @ the lowest weight and the current weight, and he would see that the gain is about the norm.

A co-worker who is rather slim to begin with, worried that she was not gaining weight, it took forever for her to even look pregnant. By the end of the pregnancy, she looked quite the little pregnant mom-to-be, and just delivered the cutest little girl, healthy as can be!!! Maybe you are like her. It will all turn out okay in the end, just keep on eating nutritiously, follow doctor orders!!!

Hey guys, about Natasha Richardson, and if any of you ski, check this out:

http://www.wtopnews.com/?sid=1629187&nid=114

There is a lack of medical evac helicopters in the province of Quebec! I was looking at Mont Tremblant and my hubby says its nice to ski there, and I was like, why have you never taken me there? And then I found this out. She might have lived but for the hours-long drive to a major hospital.

Quebec, ante up for the choppers, until then, I will happily ski Sugar Bowl! So there, Quebec is added to my Aruba boycott list.

i heard last night or this morning on HLN that their was a first ambulance that was turned away? and i also heard that it is NOT common practice to bring someone down the hill unless they are INJURED so if she was injured and they knew that why turn away the first ambulance? or maybe she insisted, i know places like that are known for catering to the rich and famous and maybe she insisted she was fine and made them turn away that first set of EMT's?

A friend and I saw Supersize Me, and as a challenge we dared each other to go vegan for a month. Hey, let's lose some weight, right? Nope! Gained a few. You wouldn't believe the stuff that turns out to be vegan. Or the stuff that doesn't, for that matter!

When I was diagnosed diabetic, I tho't, well, I can handle this!!! I really like fruits and veggies, I can give up chips and junk, and I really didn't (and don't) go much for the sweets. Well, 17 grapes?!!!! A nickel size piece of melon?!!!! A little cup of green beans?!!!!! How was I to know (I kinda flunked the nutrition course in pre-nursing :o) that the fruits and veggies I like are the ones on the restricted list?

I remember years ago giving up chips and Pepsi in an effort to lose some weight. After a month and not an ounce lost, I figured, if the weight isn't coming off, I'm sure not sacrificing the taste of my favorite foods!!!

With DD, I didn't have violent morning sickness, don't think I even threw up much @ all. However, I was just borderline nauseous for months. My co-workers who all seemed to eat exotic foods (I eat plain stuff, and don't mix a lot of stuff together!!!!) had all kinds of suggestions for nutritious dishes. Just describing what was in those dishes added to the nausea!!!

Funny thing, I was a Pepsi drinker. When pregnant w/DD, I could NOT drink it @ all. So, took to Dr Pepper. Once she was born, I was back with my Pepsi. Same thing happend when I was pregnant w/DS. I was sorely disappointed when I tried to return to Pepsi after he was born. I just COULD NOT tolerate it. So, have been on my good ol' Dr Pepper for the past 19 years.

Several years ago I found out that even if one goes to the ER after a knock on the head, they don't do xrays unless one actually lost conciousness. Seems they check you over a bit, give you a paper with information on what to look for--disorientation, fluids coming from the ears, dilation of the pupils, or unequal pupils, increasing headache, nausea and vomiting etc. So, I can see where she (and others, including ski patrol) could intially think there was nothing seriously wrong, if she did not lose conciousness, and these symptoms did not show up for a while.

yea i am gonna try and have some chicken breast tonight, i have also found that if my hubby cooks for me, like if im in a seperate room when food is being prepared that i can eat it usually, weird but true lol

I had the same thing with my second! If I didn't see it or smell it, I could eat it! I couldn't look at raw meet or eggs. I also puked for 9 months, every morning, and sometimes again later in the day. The first 3 months was like I had a virus that wouldn't end. With my first one was never sick, ate well balanced meals and only gained 5 pounds at 6 months. Overall I gained 20 pounds and had a 9 lb baby. Hang in there!

It's winter weigh Sara! No worries, we all get that ole cabin fever. Spring or a threat of it ;) usually inspires me to get the pounds off. (Or a wedding or some occasion lol!)

They do sell clam sauce in a jar, but don't buy that. Just get a can of crushed tomatoes and a can or two of canned clams and ... wait let me start at the beginning.

Get out your frying pan
3 cloves of peeled garlic/ chopped
1/4 cup of oil warm it up
fry the garlic a bit
1 can of crushed tomatoes
2 cans of chopped clams
parsley if you want
salt and pepper and grated cheese

That's it!

that sounds wonderful Dan. I make a good clam dip with canned clams told me by mom. one 8 oz cream cheese softened to one can of clams. Pour out almost all the can juice before you start. Add a little worchestshire sauce and garlic and stir. when it is stirred enough refridgerate before serving ....maybe 30 minutes..........thanks sara

Amy this is so true. I worked in a major er here for 15 years. I have seen many personnel remove neck and back supports before an exray. we have a long way to go.. and It does not surprise me if Natasha sent the ambulance away. I mean who among us if we were feeling okay would want to go to the ER for the next 8 hours for tests. In Michigan if a patient refuses transport we have them sign a paper saying so. IMO sara

Nawny's Diet report. lol!

I was very good yesterday. I drove up to Mystic at 11:00am without breakfast. Nothing, Noddda! (Just cawffee)

I met my friend for lunch and at the Steak Loft the salad bar is fantastic, so when I walked by it, I thought,, hmmmm that looks so healthy. Part of me was thinking, Gravy, cheese, pasta, bread bread bread... but I fought it.

I ordered an open roast beef sandwich. No fries and no coleslaw, no bread (well it was under the Roast Beef and Gravy but I ignored it.) The roast beef was covered with a half inch thick brown gravy and mushrooms. There was a thimble full amount of roast beef and it was like shoe leather. I ate it and picked on the mushrooms. At the salad bar, I filled my dish with cottage cheese, lettuce, beets, a tablespoon amount of potato salad and one TB of pasta salad. Pat me on the back Sara! lol!!

When I got home I sauteed some garlic, spinach, broccoli and mushrooms with a bit of grated cheese and put it on top of Poppa's ravioli. I had some with a plain salad and 3 ravioli. I'm down one more pound. No tread mill yesterday.

Forgive me for this boring post.. I need to do it for incentive.

Just ignore me please. :hat:

Wow Dan. you are so much stronger than I am. I had breaded shrimp last night with lots of cocktail sauce and onion rings. I want your willpower.

LOL!! Thank you Amy. You're a sweetheart. Poppa and the weebles are my life. I suppose I get into it about them yes.. lol!!! We have a hilarious family. Every day something funny.

I'm going to the fish store "Smiling Sole" (such a great name) and I have to get some lobster and shrimp for dinner tonight. We're having poppa's friend and his wife over for dinner. He's Jewish and always on a diet, so that works for me. I'm making surf and turf. I need to go google a good lemon wine sauce.

Last time I made dinner for them, he accused me of trying to kill him because it was all fattening Italian fare. LOL! He's certifiable insane and also an attorney. Of course he's nuts.

Thanks for the moral support!

well that made me dietless. You are serving my favorite food. Let me know when dinner is ready please.............LOL sara

Not sure if Quebec is diff. from Ont. or not. I know Quebec would certainly like to be LOL that's a whole off topic, topic lol. Here in Ont. typically EMS would prefer a sign off however if say i refuse verbally to go to hospital and all my limbs are hanging off they will try their hardest to talk me into it. It is part of their EMS training. However if i refuse to go in the end they will not take you. If i am rendered unconscious at that time i can be taken in as i am not able to make the decision-or someone can advocate on my belhalf.

i wonder if now maybe things will change in that regard, because obviously looks can be deceiving. i have heard of people developing personality disorders after head injuries and developing seizure disorders as well of course, and now this has happened, i think that if an ambulance is called for any type of head injury maybe they should have the authority to MAKE you go in and get checked out, for your own safety you know? idk this has just made me think about all this stuff for really the first time, i hope everyone hears about this so that everyone knows that even a minor bump could be your end!

My will power was bad tonight. I ate a small amount of salad, then some lobster bisque, so far so good; then I went and ate the porterhouse steak, no shrimp. I made the shrimp with the prosciutto wrapped around it in a lemon butter sauce, then topped it with mozzarella- so far so good. After dinner, I made coffee and put the platter of canoli's and truffles right in front of me. Cough.. I had the F&@ing canoli and 2 truffles.

Then I had a shot of Baileys. Somewhere in my mind I rationalized that I didn't have the shrimp so I could eat a truffle. But the first truffle had white cream in it and I wanted chocolate so I tried for that and I got it.

I'm okay,, sniff. I'll get it right tomorrow. There's always tomorrow. It's weeble birthday party and I know they intended food for eating, but I'll be good. No cake for Nawny.

I've got to vent and this is the only place I can think of to do so. I was just handed another assignment at work. It sucks to be efficient. I now have to keep a spreadsheet and chart "training goals" for 533 people. Now the ridiculous thing is not having to keep the 533 spreadhsheets - the assinine thing is I just have to track "the plan". Not whether or not people take the training courses, just that they have them planned to take. Now is that stupid or what. Of course, I was awake half the night with bad allergies so that didn't help. I told my boss that it was stupid to do all this work for something that the talking heads are going to forget about in two months and that no one has to actually follow through on the training, just have a plan. I think I will plan on taking psychology courses so I can deal with this nonsense. Ha, but I don't have to take them, just put it on paper that I plan to take them. The boss said, we'll talk about it tomorrow when I'm in a better mood.

Idiots.

My weeble 6th in line turned 4 on Sunday. We don't generally do the Chucky Cheese thing but since it has become the latest craze and all the weebles want to go there after seeing it when invited to little friend's birthday parties, my daughter caved and with much regret, planned the party there.

At 11:00 O'clock Sunday morning the parking lot was full. We walked in (poppa and I) and saw massive chaos. One side of the huge room was filled with video games, little carousels, and kids that must have numbered over 100. Parents standing around chatting while the noise levels were over the top. Poppa looked at me and said in his most shocked Italian manner, "Jesus Christ! What the he!! is this?" I took a deep breath and guided us into the adjoining room and saw my family huddled in a corner among ten long tables. They waved us over while waitresses put place settings with colorful paper plates and party hats, napkins and cups, on the long tables.

My weebles were all over the place, excited and looking for tokens to play the game machines. We were all grabbing them as they continued to want to indulge in the sensory overload. Other kids ran around non stop and I thought of how easily a pervert could come in that room unnoticed and take a kid.

All of us at once began to gather the weebles, sit them down and tell them, "NO ONE LEAVES THIS TABLE WITHOUT A PARENT OR NAWNY AND POPPA! UNDERSTAND? OR WE LEAVE. They all calmed down and for the next 30 minutes we accompanied them to the little rides and a few game machines.

Three was a tunnel thing, like the ones you see at McDonald's in the play area and it was enormous! That was the favorite among the 5 year olds and part of it was transparent. One little girl (stranger) peed right there while my weebs were inside crawling around. I was hyperventilating. My daughters and D-inlaw were in a rush to get the weebles out of there and we managed to get out of Chucky Cheese alive.

I told them in the lobby, NEVER AGAIN!

Oh boy, that must have put a strain on you and Poppa. My niece had a party there when she was about that age. Never again. You do have to have eyes behind your head there. Sadly, at the one near to where I live, a child died because she was so excited when she left she ran right out into the street and was hit by a car. They have since put multiple speed bumps in front, but, like I said, eyes behind your head.

The peeing would have me absolutely nuts. The problem with those places is you have people who thing it's just a dumping ground for their children and forget about them for an hour.

Yup, that's why I'm single. I always say I'll date a man when I find one who can take better care of me than I can. ;) There was one man who liked me very much and he was very nice but talked just like Gomer Pyle. If you closed your eyes when he talked you would think it was Gomer. I just could not cope with that. He ended up marrying a woman who could have been my twin sister. Maybe she was deaf. :o

Mantra for the day: I have a job, I have a job, I have a job.... Gator, can I use it, too? Some days are harder than others. We have laid off a couple of people so I get to do their jobs, in addition to mine. Yes, there wasn't enough work to keep them all busy, all day, but it adds up to a lot more for me to do.

I just bought a lottery tickets with a guy in the office. We won $150 last week.

I hate all those birthday party places. I just love the peeing in the tube. Those places are germ pits in the best of circumstances. I was big on doing the rollerskating parties. The kids were contained and amused for 2 hours. Around here you get the rink to yourself if you book the party for a weekday afternoon.

Java - was that my uncle at your house? He, too, is an expert on child rearing and is childless. He tore apart everything I did or did not do with/for my kids. Now that they are older and have turned out quite well, he takes credit for it. Do what you feel is best.

Oooo, I remember the days when bosses abused power with me. I have a mega problem with authority when there is abuse. I can't tolerate abuse, verbal or otherwise no matter where I see it; even now. I have walked away from jobs when times were hard because of it. Yup, power corrupts absolutely!

I learned a lot in my 30's when I decided to be my own boss. On a wing and a prayer I opened a pizza restaurant in the hood where the city problems should have stopped me, but they didn't. With a few thousand dollars I bought some used equipment and opened a pizza parlor. Of course it was called, Zodiac Pizza. It was an empty room initially and the rent was 300. a month. lol!

I designed 12 pizzas and called them by the sign they represented. For example: Aries pizza had hot peppers and Pisces was anchovies. Taurus had steak and cheese, Libra had all veggies, Leo was a 4 cheese pizza because they are big cheeses.. lol!

I typed out astrology profiles per sign, framed them and hung them on the wall to give the customers something to read while they waited. I had a flat wooden lazy Susan from home, and painted the 12 signs on its edges, hung it on the wall and gave each customer a spin (like a roulette wheel) When it stopped spinning, if it landed on their own sign, they got a coupon for a free pizza.

I had fun being creative, I enjoyed the food process, serving and even the laborious work involved, but I was a terrible manager. I let the workers get away with anything. Not good. Trust me. Not GOOD! I wanted to be the kind of boss I'd never had. I babied the employees.

I later opened up a place called, "Tea and Sympathy. I served international teas, pastries and lunch sandwiches. Same problem.

Then I opened up a "NY System," same.

Tired again with "Soup and Subs" in the same area, same.

Then my favorite, "Calzone Heaven." Again, I couldn't manage workers.

Last but not least, "Dannyboys' Place" in 2002, and by this time, the work force was about crippled. When they did show up, they did nothing, if not complain about the work. I ran my poor legs off trying to make them understand something called team work.

I sold them all and I still get itchy teeth when I see an empty store front. I usually say, "Ya know what would go good there?" Poppa always answers, "NOTHING! Not one thing would go good there!" :cuss:

"Lay down, I'll get it. Here's your pay." That's Nawny. Poppa's words.

Wow - those were all really good ideas and I really love the Zodiac Pizza. I guess what you needed was a manager who would look out for your interests. It's a shame that the employees took advantage rather than appreciate working for a good boss. I'll have two slices, extra cheese to go, not hot, just warmed.

Stupid kids!

I go to a "mommy board", you know, where you all are due in the same month? And they are having major drama because a poster who claimed to have lost her baby at 3 days (not to mention several other babies!) turned out to be a fraud and some curious George "caught" her. So I put up a post reminding everyone that it is not a good idea to have their babies photos, full names, place and date of birth, mother's maiden and married names, up there. Identity theft anyone?! You wouldn't believe the "blinkies" up there.

And I get snark response about how everyone KNOWS the risks of being online. I shake the dust off my feet at them. In 20 years when their kids find out they can't even get a college credit card, their problem. Morons. And right below my post, another poster was asking everyone to send her all the birth dates for the group kids...I wonder why Casey never thought of this?

Ugggh they're at every board, we've even had a few of those here. Kudo's to you for being on top of things.

Wanted to come over here and explain about Leroy's injury because the damage done was frightening in that it didn't show up for months, and it could happen to anyone.

We had two tornados come through the county Jan & Feb of '08. Not sure which one did the damage, but a tree down the hill was damaged in the crown and it was fugly to look at out the kitchen window or from the pool deck. So Leroy, being a brilliant economist (Java!!! LOL), but having ZERO common sense dragged an extension ladder down to the tree, climbed up, fired up the chain saw and started trimming. I could see from the house that he hadn't made his front cut and limb was going to come right at him. By the time I ran bellowing out the door to warn him, it was too late and the huge thing knocked the ladder out from under him. I was screaming for him to throw the chainsaw (which he had tied to the ladder instead of to the tree) Can you tell I watch Axe Men?)). He tried to land on his feet and run instead of rolling away and bruised up his leg, but of course wouldn't go to the doctor. Months later on a Wednesday he developed severe bruising and swelling in his ankle and tried to tell me that he had re-injured his leg over the weekend, but I could tell that the bruise wasn't four days old because it was almost black; definitely a new symptom. He refused to go to the ER (I should have called EMS when he went to sleep), but promised to go in to see the doc on Friday if he "had time". I told him not to worry because he probably had a clot and if it broke loose he would either be dead or brain dead and time management wouldn't be a problem any more. He said that haunted him all the way to school so he drove to the clinic instead of class. Long story short, they sent him to the hospital for Xrays and as soon as the tech saw him, she called to find a doctor to admit him. He was in for seven days on all kinds of oral and injectable blood thinners. I even got to poke him a few times because he didn't want to learn how to do the injections when he got home. :hat: He's on oral medications now and has to go in once a week for lab work and to have the dosage adjusted, but it could have turned out much worse.

Sorry for the novel, but it was a frightening expensive lesson in what can happen to old folks when they pooh pooh an injury.

Loretta, thank goodness you were hard on him and he took it to heart. You may have saved his life. I am so glad for you and for Leroy that he is getting better. After what happed to Natasha Richardson, we should all learn the lesson that an innocent accident can be deadly without the proper attention at the right time.

Wow, Loretta! I am so glad you scare the bejesus out of of Leroy! That's scary.

I know I go to the doctor more than I should, and take the kids in too, but I figure 1) I got the insurance for a reason and 20 how bad would I feel if someone died for ignoring something. (I have a whole family of ignorers. Few are left to ignore anymore.)

i know how ya feel java. me or my son get sick and im all over the doctors office, my hubby gets sick and i gotta basically FORCE him to go, he would wait until he was really dying before he went if he had his way lol

My best friend's dad is functionally deaf. She and her sibs have tried forever to get him to get a hearing aid. Then this Christmas she looked around the living room, at her brother fighting with his ex-wife, the kids running around loudly, the 5 relatives who just immigrated and moved in with them, his wife incessantly shopping...and she realized that he simply didn't want to hear what was going on around him, lol!

Now they leave him alone, just wave and give him the thumbs up. Everybody's happy.

LMAO Love it! What a solution! Leroy (the economist!!) told me that according to the experts, his hearing loss is in the upper range, so I've been doing my Bea Arthur impersonations to get his attention. :hat:

Yep. My dad was diagnosed a diabetic at 18, and basically didn't really ever pay it much attention except for taking a shot a day, checking his sugar only when he felt bad. Dead at 39 with all the complications possible. A little maintenance goes a long way...

Condolences, Babe. Diabetes is almost a different disease today, what with the new meters and other equipment improvements and a wider selection of insulin. I'll light a candle at gratefulness.org for your Dad right now.

selective hearing :D

Our guest (yes, mr. advice!) has the same kind of hearing problem, tinnitus and deaf on one side. I didn't even think of it until the toddler was talking to him without response and finally came to me and said "Why Bill not talking?! I was like, huh? Then I explained Bill was just like the deaf guy who owned the miniature golf course on Handy Manny (thank goodness they cover everything on kids tv now!), so Dboo ran up to the front end of Bill, tapped his arm, and yelled "I love your golf course!" into his face.

Since Bill had no idea of the sidebar drama, he was surprised to say the least.

LOL awww kids are so sweet. i love how honest and unabashed they are about everything.

Daddy has had a variety of hearing aids over the years (even paid $2,000 for ONE--that is ONE, not a pair!!!) We always say, gotta have it in and turned on for it to work! We have come to the same conclusion--there are things he'd just rather not hear. Especially when the 6 daughters get together! And when he decides he doesn't want to deal with Mom, lol.

My feet hurt. Nawny's getting old. :hat: But I love to cook for people.

No forgetta the canoli's :)

Send some over darlin...I'm wiped out right about now........

My youngest had a low fever Friday night. By Saturday, and throught this whole week, it's been 103+. Been to the doctor 3 times since Saturday, no lying, cold showers and ice baths Every day. I've been up practically 24 hours every day since Saturday, cause if that tylenol or motrin wears off, it's spiking again, so I have to keep checking every half hour with the Thermoscan. Dr. gave her zythromyacin 4 days ago.. Poor kid, and we still don't know what it's all about. It scares me that she has had tylenol/motrin in her every 6 hours for 7 days straight. Took more tests today, but won't know till 2 more days what the culure will grow/show.

Needless to say, I'm hungry, I'm tired, and pissed off cause the puter won't let me post my crazy pics I have waiting to show you all!

I'll eat light, ok ~ just the gnocci with a nice salad will do me :)...as long as you don't mind too much if I fall asleep at the table! :o

Think good thoughts for my Alana :rose:~ and me too LOLOLOL

Pasta Fagiole is easy. I use the canned Kidney beans.

Fry garlic or onions, or both. (Some use pancetta or chopped bacon too.) Let your beans simmer for a while, an hour or so on very low. For each can of beans, use one can of water. Salt and pepper to taste. 1/2 pound of cooked noodles or any kind of pasta and there you are! :)

If you like it red, put 2 tablespoons of tomato paste in the simmering beans. If not, white pasta fagiole is good too. I make mine red. A little grated romano cheese, a coupla friends, a bottle of hagnog and your set to go. :) Mongia!

Really? That's it? Do I mash the beans or leave them be? OK, I can do that for myself. DH and DD aren't big bean eaters but I love them. I make myself black bean soup/black beans and rice all the time.

Old Soul -I'm so glad your DD is better. It always breaks my heart to hear of sick children. BTW, she's a cutie!

There are two kinds of Kidney beans, red and white. The white are Cannellini. White is what we use for pasta fagiole. I should have said cannellini, I didn't realize it sounded like those red uglies. ;)

Thanks Dana! Flove the cannellini and I love red beans. But I do not like red kidney beans. Always thought they were the worst part of three bean salad.

OK, so I admit it ~ I'm a cheese *****. Yup. Love it. Considering I probably have clogged arteries from it, I will give you another recipe, for grandmas fagioli...it lets me use less cheese as a flavoring ~ hence less calories. It's got a nice full taste so you don't mind cutting the cheese down to nil...it feeds 4 nicely, and is not too soupy. Always better heated up :) total cook time is about 20/25 minutes.

Shopping list:
extra virgin olive oil (regular is ok too)
2 cans chicken broth
2 cans cannellini beans drained
2 cups water
2fresh thyme sprigs(optional)
2 slices bacon or pancetta
2 carrots, diced
ditalini pasta (about 1/3 to 1/2 lb)
1 finely chopped onion
about 5 cloves garlic

Put salted water on for ditalini ~ cook pasta (10 minutes)

Make it like Nawnys, except after the pancetta/bacon browning, then add the garlic, onion ,diced carrots, thyme, salt & pepper and beans, then add the 2 c broth and 2 c water. bring to nice medium boil. Remove thyme stems.

By now the ditalini is el dente, drain and put in with soup contents, simmering for about 10 min. If you have fresh parsley chop it and throw on..looks pretty :)http://i43.tinypic.com/wan7ko.jpgDon't forget to go easy on the cheese.

PS ~ Don't forget the vino and the crusty Italian bread...Mmmmmmmm Good
You ladies have made me expand on my Italian cooking skills (which is not that great). I am a Scotch-Irish girl but I crave this good stuff quite often. Dani, I have made the spaghetti carbonara twice and it was so delicious, and OS I will have to try the fagioli too. yum yum :) I lost 17 pounds back before Christmas but now I think I have put a good bit of it back on. :o

When I'd ask, 'Ma how do you make this or that, she'd go at it with: Aw, it's eeezy. You putta little bit of oil, then you puttabout a handfulla oinion..hmmm, not too much.... then you put egg and cheese, not too much, not too little. Then you cook. "How long ma?" Ahhh, you know, for a little while, not too long. Don't ask me why I understood her, I just did. LOL!!

And, for the touch of red on your table (isn't ham considered red? lol) Just put some red food dye in the lemon juice (I assume @ some point the "lemon" part of the recipe is in juice form?) and if you put enough in, the chicken should come out pretty red, doncha think? Or, @ least the sauce that would be poured over the chicken. (Don't :punch:me!!! I don't know how to cook, so wouldn't have a clue!! lol :chicken:)

Yes, I know, some people are bothered by the idea of raising sheep for food but everyone likes to eat and your meat has to come from somewhere.. I've added a ham over the years. We've had some non-lamb eaters marry into the family. I'm making colcannon, too! DS will be home from college so I have someone who eats a lot.

One of my sisters and I were just talking about Easter dinners. Which, we never really had "Easter" dinners, just the usual Sunday dinner which was roast beef or fried chicken. Another sister's son is coming to the area and that sis wanted us (because she isn't in the area) to have a "traditional Richfield Easter dinner." ???????? Boy, she sure has different memories than the rest of us, that's for sure!!! The only "tradition" we had was hunting Easter eggs, there wasn't a big family gathering like @ Thanksgiving or Christmas, just the immediate family which did include our 2 grandmothers....again, it was just regular Sunday dinner, tho.

We do remember one time when that particular sis did have an Easter dinner--by that time, most of us were grown, so there were more people-spouses and children. She did have lamb. I can tell you now, that was the first and last experience with that type of meat for me!!! I never went to another Easter dinner that she was involved in. The lamb had a horrible smell. Can't describe it, but it was one I didn't wish to encounter again!!! I must admit, I wouldn't have a clue as to whether or not lamb might taste good, I couldn't get close enough to it to actually put a piece in my mouth!!!

Lamb is one of those meats that makes a huge difference where you get it from and how old the lamb actually is. A real lamb is young, well under 6 months. What you buy in the store is almost a year old. It does have a horrible smell when you cook it. Young lamb, cooked with garlic poked under the skin, onions on top and some red wine, smells good. I think a lot of it has to do with what we're used to. Irish grandma cooked lamb every other Sunday. Roast beef on alternating Sundays.

We never eat anything other than spring (baby) lamb. And the way that it's butchered is really important. If it comes to you with any yellow fat whatsoever you have to trim it away. You may have had an older lamb or maybe the nearsighted butcher's knife slipped and pierced the anal gland or whatever it's called.

My Grandma wasn't Irish, but Grandpa came over on the potato boat, so to speak. He must not have converted her to the Irish cooking ways, lol!!!! Ours was roast beef (took our own steers to the locker to be killed processed and frozen) and fried chicken. I never killed a chicken, but do remember Grandma "wringing" their necks, or Daddy chopping the head off with an axe-and know first hand about the saying, running around like a chicken w/its head cut off!!!! lol

"Poor Poppa" my eye!!!! Looks like he's enjoying every bit of it!! lol Guess he probably knows they need the Poppa version to see if the Nawny version was spot on!!!

Java, the one that I remember is Duchamp's because he signed it. Isn't it at a San Francisco museum? We have a pair of his cufflinks in our collection.

How cayoot! :) Great pics! Your dinner sounds wonderful! This is Nawny's 59th Easter!!! I was thinking of ordering Chinese food. Love the Lobster Bisque idea! Nice change!

I'll be going to my Mom's--a nephew and his bride will be there, and he requests Grandma's Taco Salad (she makes that for every gathering--the grands and great grands love it!) So, I will take some ham and bread for sandwiches to go with. The only trouble is, sounds like no one else is going to bring anything, so before we head out to the boonies tomorrow, will make another stop @ Dillons for some chips and dips and probably a relish plate.

Lordy-careful girlfriend-sounds like a fun gathering. Food is always good but the family gathering is GREAT!!!!! As u may have read i broke all tradition-no ham, turkey and trimmins this year. Nope its Master's weekend,Easter and family all wrapped into one. And i knew my kitchen was not going to be done in time to do all that work. So most of my salads are made, desserts are made and sparking up the barbie tomorrow for Rickles (DH) famous home made burgs. Of course lots of pre munchies and Easter candy. I even have peeps-my kids hate them-they kept telling me but i would forget by next Easter-so i got to eat them-how can u hate peeps-there so pretty-so i have them sitting out on my munchie table in every color. I found an article today about peeps-how they are made etc. So i printed it off and it will be for their reading pleasure. One of those family ha ha thingy's. You have fun and chew well when reading

Your pictures should be in your "My Pictures" folder. Click start and then click My Pictures and the older should open up.

Y'all have been busy with your Easter dinner prep. So far all I've done are the deviled eggs and took the lamb out to defrost and the eggs and butter out to come to room temp or a coconut cake. :punch:

:chicken: didn't help ohhhhh! My family, friends and co-workers i have had contact with the last few days are giving me strange looks-everyone is giving me helpful tips on how not to be picked for jury duty-they think I'm certifiable for wanting to be chosen??? Whats up with that? I know be careful what u wish for-it could be something horrible but.......:rose:

I don't know why people try to get out of jury duty--it's part of what makes our judicial system work. I must admit, the one I was chosen for bored me to death--repeat, repeat, repeat--I wanted to jump up and yell "She's answered that one six ways from Sunday already!!!!!" I guess our local lawyers watched too much tv lawyer shows, lol!!! I think I may have sat on another--but it evidently wasn't anything out of the ordinary, or I'd surely remember it. I haven't sat on a murder trial--my sister did, and she was scared out of her pants everyday. They were afraid friends of the defendant (one really mean dude) would come after the jury. It all turned out without incident, thank goodness.

 I ate too many peeps-I need to go for a short :chicken:

No peeps for me this year. I was very good. I ate ONE bite of this oatmeal/chocolate chip cake my cousin's wife made. It was from a school cookbook, and the person who submitted the recipe left out part of the ingredient list. She figured out the missing ingredients by the directions, but had to guess @ the measurements. She and her family sure tho't it turned out quite good. I about puked, but I did swallow the one bite, and smiled. Luckily, I was sitting next to Daddy and pushed my plate to him. He then pushed it to his sister (the MIL of the cook) who quietly pushed it over to her son's place. He had gotten up, and when he came back and sat down, guess he tho't it was his--so he ate it!!! lol Hopefully his wife didn't notice the musical cake.

DD and her cousin ate the chocolate chip cookies the cousin made--she thinks the same person submitted that recipe, cuz there were missing ingredients. She and her family tho't those turned out quite fine, too. The girls didn't so much. I didn't dare try. I have a good excuse--I'm diabetic and shouldn't be indulging in those kinds of things, anyway. ;)

It is 11:14am in New England and it's cold though the sun is shining. I am procrastinating again. Gotta go do the clean the house thing. I want a condo. Small, little condo on the water but Poppa will take the pipe if I make him do that. Just looking at the yard and all the work needed I want a condo..

I do.

Hi Nawny,

It's going to be in the high 80's today. I think you need to look for a nice Condo down here. You can get one for a song and a dance right now. I think Solavita or Disney's Celebration would be a great area for you and Poppa to spend time in the winter.

:-)

I have a theory. Hungry for some comic relief and very tired I think I know THe mothership will turn on Casey because Casey is going to turn on her. That's my guess.

I'm going to do a Javahog:

I killed Caylee because my mother is an abusive psychopath. I had no where to turn for help. I asked for help but she refused to get me any because of what the people would say. She beat me continuously throughout my childhood and demanded that I live with her even when I wanted to go out on my own. I wanted to give my own daughter to a loving family, she threatened to hurt me if I did. I was trapped! Caylee was too. There was no way out. I was willing to go to jail for life and even give my life to free Caylee. I saw no other way. My mother held me hostage. She held Caylee hostage. I was scared and something happened to my brain. It's all her fault! It was a mercy killing. Oh, and I did some mercy shopping at Target because my mind was blown.

Oh, and I stole some mercy money but it wasn't enough to escape with.

Now for the rest of the story. :hat:

Stay tuned for Cindy's response... Jav?

She'll probably throw in that Cindy made her break off her engagement to Jesse. She'll come up with some story that Cindy didn't want Caylee to leave so she threated to tell Jess some bulls**t stories about Casey so she broke off the engagement. Or maybe she will say that Cindy threated to kill her so that she could keep Caylee. Whatever she comes up with, I won't be shocked.

Yippee! They are going for the DP there is a GOD!! I wonder if the DA watched those depo tapes and how evil C&G were, and I am wondering if they have more evidence they have not released, but I just heard on Jane that soil samples taken from the crime scene matched soil found on CA's shoes, and the heart shaped sticker on her mouth along with the duct tape points to only CA and did you all hear these asswipes are gonna be on Oprah? I agreed with John Morgan they are going on what he calls a "alibi tour" trying to drum up sympathy for CA and they figure if they go on Oprah and a mostly female audience that women are going to feel for her and not want her to get the DP and might be believe the crap how she is innocent and "Zany" did it and I hope Oprah kicks their ass all over that studio and the audience gets to ask the same questions Morgan asked, are they gonna walk off the set?? Let's see, now with this revelation, they will be on CBS, ABC, NBC, Dr. Phil, Larry King, CNN and MSNBC, and FOX singing the innocent blues and whining about the DP and if the networks were smart, they should not give into Cindy's whims AGAIN!!

Morgan hit it with the she is a control freak, she wants to run the spin, look at that grandstanding sham of a memorial service where she makes sure she gets the biggest church with 102 freaking cameras, the singers, how she gets up to the podium, she was enjoying herself, not much grief did I see, she was showboating and loving every minute of it, the whole thing was disgusting and even there, they were selling that child down the river and then George having the balls to ask all of us to write to CA and show some empathy and understanding?? These people are evil through and through and Caylee is in a better place than to be raised by these evil scumbags!!! I want to be 13 years from now, standing out in front of the prison where CA is being strapped to a gurney and being given the three drugs that end her life, and I want to hear the warden say the sentence was carried out, then I will feel that justice was served for little Caylee. And then we will never have to hear about these scumbags ever again!!

I sure hope the tv networks all turn their backs on the A's and their whirlwind tour to save Casey's a**. Just let it all drop until the trial--even if it is delayed even more. Updates on what is going on with the case, the investigation but absolutely no more air time for the A's. Of course, this is probably what ratings are made of, but I for one don't plan on watching anything w/the A's on it.

So Cindy got the biggest church, but w/her arrogance and disdain and list of "uninvited" there wasn't enough people to fill a teacup in that huge church. I guess folks in the area who COULD have made it probably felt they could better memorialize Caylee in their own way, in their own homes like the millions who do not live in the area. And with much more respect than her own family showed.

Update on susie's grandson, Kaleb.... :rose:

Tuesday April 14, 2009

They did an MRI yesterday morning to see whether a shunt was needed. After looking at the scans, Dr Thompson came to talk to us and said that Kaleb's tumor has almost doubled in size. And that He doesnt have BAD hydrocephalus. He gave us the option to do the shunt or not. He did say that if he did put the shunt in, he wasn't expecting Kaleb's condition to improve due to the fact that his symptoms are caused by the tumor and not the hydrocephalus.

He did say that there was some evidence that the tumor had hemorrhaged. But with where Kaleb's tumor is theres no way to go in and look. If thats the case- it would explain why his tumor has grown, and the blood would slowly be reabsorbed. He also said theres a really small chance that we are waiting on the radiation to work.. All the doctors seemed sort of shocked that ir looks like radiation HASN"T worked so far.. All the doctors seemed sure that it would do something.

So Adam and I took some time yesterday and decided not to have the shunt put in. We will be in touch with Hospice and Kaleb's nurse will be out tomorrow to meet him and us.

We even asked Kaleb whether he wanted the shunt in multiple different ways and explaining it every way we could and he said no.. Just that he wanted to go home.

So here we are. For now. They told us we could change our minds if we wanted to later on. Maybe - maybe not.

That was one of the hardest decisions I have had and will have to ever make. Of course we want him here with us as long as God will allow it... But there comes a time and I think that time is now that Kaleb has been through enough and just needs a break for a while. We are still praying and hoping that he still gets the miracle we all so desparately want him to have.

Gator if you see this, I've got two (that I know of) tree frogs or toads ( I REALLY need to look that up! but I think they're toads) living in my greenhouse. I've been doing a lot or spring cleaning in there and have the shop vac out there and noticed that when it's on I can hear them shrilling or trilling or whatever you call it. I don't know if it's because they like or hate the noise, but I hope it doesn't distress them, because the other day I turned the vacuum on and hunted until I found the two little guys to see how they were reacting, and sure enough their throats were all swelled up and bulged out and they were singing while the vacuum was turned on. LOL

This looks like my guys:

Loretta, you have a greenhouse?! Now I'm really jealous. I start seedlings in my living room because it has a big window and faces South. I rig up grown lights because here in NJ we have a lot of yucky days. It's not the best setup but it almost serves my purpose. I really want a greenhouse...

It's cold here today again. The flowers are doing their best and the birds are not happy yet. They're tired of licking ice in the bird bath. Poppa wore his leather jacket to work this morning. :(

Looking forward to beautiful warm Orlando for a week.

Have fun, be safe! :seeya: It's chilly here this morning too, but the sun is shining!!

Hey Daisy! I'll try not to make a short story long. We tore down the old 14X28 greenhouse that was on the college campus, hauled it here and re-erected half of it, so it's about 14X18. It had fiberglass panels in sections that were really kind of nasty, so we used greenhouse plastic instead with the blowers that keep it inflated. Only put up a couple of the benches and lots of shelves. My antique wicker is out there and when I get the cushions reupholstered it will be my spare room. Right now I have hibiscus, begonias, pansies, petunias, geraniums and portulaca in bloom. I've trimmed 29 of the 31 ferns and have started to repot and combine some of them. I've got coleus started, a few of my thirty or so elephant ears potted and a few of my 150+ caladiums going. Cannot wait to move things out onto the decks and move my orchids out of the house to spend the summer in the greenhouse. Leroy gave me a via diablo cymbidium for anniversary and it bloomed on two stalks (about a dozen or so flowers), but they didn't last long; only one left. My phalaenopsis is still going strong. *crosses fingers*

Anyway, it's an old Janco greenhouse, and looks nothing like the conservatories that you see in Architectural Digest!!

Daisy, last year I had 200+ caladiums and the raccoons and squirrels feasted on dozens of my bulbs. :cuss: But some of them were ages old and had lost a lot of their oomph, so it was time to buy some new ones anyway. I'll build my collection back up over time. Love the white ones; candidum, white Christmas, Aaron, June bride, garden white, and I love the pink and greens, especially Carolyn Wharton. Bought one bag of mixed reds this year to plant in a small bed of red gladioli. I bought a few new hostas this year too, I usually just divide mine in September, but I'm getting impatient to fill my bed.

Glad your orchids did so well! I'm not very lucky with mine but plan on putting them out from now on, just worried that it's too windy to have them literally outside. Wish you were close by, you could take the other part of my greenhouse! BTW, we submitted the winning bid for it; $100.01.

The wild critters are a problem. I'm in deer country. My backyard is all fenced in but the front yard is fair game. This past winter they were walking up to the front door and ate my hollies. I wish you were closer - I have a huge collection of all types of hosta. I just keep dividing them and giving them away to the point I've run out of people. I put a lot of glads in, too. They look great on my desk at work, especially when I'd rather be home in the garden. We got a wood chipper from an auction. It the kind the county uses. Rather large but DH loves it. I have to keep my eyes open for a greenhouse - we do have a lot of nurseries around me, so it's possible.

Yep-not good-missing a week today-OPP took 12 hrs to get the word out officially-we all know the stats for time being the essence. Response was the night shift doesn't do that-good gawd. I know you's have 2 hrs. before FBI are involved. Well here our RCMP are kinda the equivelant-nope Woodstock and London detachment dont feel they need the RCMP. So here we are a week today-they just polygraphed the mother, stepfather and bio dad on the weekend. Way too slow. I was at dinner with my high school gals last night and one was saying her friend was on the search due to knowing the family-very unorganized and called off while she was up there. Apparently now they are looking at the parents past relationships. I can say this Mother exhibits every approp. beh. one would expect. A mess but trying to talk to get her message out-she was so desperate-saying if u can hear me run do what u have to do etc etc. My heart went out to her crying-she said i know nobody will understand this but i cant sleep i cant eat i worry-is she cold does she have a blanket, who ever has her are they feeding her etc. etc. All the appropriate mom thoughts. Bio dad seems supportive as well as step dad. It was a woman who had her in her 20's. they say. Thank you for asking as this has really rocked the area. We just need to get up to speed as these crimes are creeping up rapidly in Canada. Apparently alot of the heat has been coming from the U.S. LE agencies. Thank You for that-my gawd do they live under a rock. Alot of frustration here over it. :rose:

Beem, NG had a blurb about Tori last night; not a lot of information, but at least she's shining a light on the case.

It's every damned day anymore that we see these beautiful children that have been taken. And that's just the tip of the iceberg according to statistics. I don't see how people can stand to let their little ones out of sight.

Hope Leroy feels better-yes after Easter weekend it was so filling. Today i am road tripping all day with some gals-shopping and taking one of the gals Mom's out for lunch-she is i think 82? So of course more food. Sigh!!! LOL

I'll hopefully be lunching with an 82 or is it 83 y/o mom, today, too. DD has an appointment about 60 miles down the road and if the folks are up to it, one of my sisters will travel (also about 60 miles) to meet us there. It's overcast and thundering, sure hope it's not storming down that way cuz I hate traveling in any kind of inclement weather.

I hope u had a fun day-i just got in-cant tell ya how many cities and towns we were in today but fun-got in such good shopping-I made an error-my friends Mom is 86 LOL. I am exhausted-we left at 8:30 this a.m. and it is now 10:37. It was sunny and about 70 by mid day. Hope your day was fun too.

My day was much shorter, left after 9, returned about 4:30. Didn't really shop. Mom was a little forgetful today. Had told sis that Daddy didn't want to go, but when she and another sis got halfway to the first sister's house, she turned around and went back because she couldn't remember if Daddy wanted to go. So, they didn't get into town until almost 1. DD wanted to get back home, plus I did need to go pay a bill before 5. So, no shopping for us, but then shopping isn't my bag. Mom and the sisters went @ least grocery shopping, I think. We did chow down @ Long John Silver, visited about an hour while a key was made for my vehicle. That was nice, and what I really went for. The company, not the food so much, lol. And the appointment, of course.

It rained off and on both going and coming back home. @ least it was rain, and not a storm w/thunder and lightning. There was to be a big storm about 3 (according to another sister who is a weather channel fanatic) but if it happened, it wasn't where we were.

Sounds like your day was full. Bet the 86 y/o was the only one left with energy to spare by the time you all got back, lol.

I watched Susan Boyle sing so many times, and watched the videos of interviews. She has been a charity worker and it occurred to me again how life works toward good, when you are good. (and visa versa) How simple.

Every time I watched her sing that song and the people stood up and applauded her, I cried like a baby. I know the world is still a beautiful place and it was refreshing to see it no matter how many despicable crimes I learn about.

Whew! I will probably watch it a hundred times. I love to have something to tune into when this stuff gets me down. Most nights I go back to my own weeble's videos and pictures before I go to bed at night. I thank God for them every day. :)

Yes what they got away with back then-I got spanked by a nun when i was bout 8 or 9-she used her bible to wack me-I just kinda thought that was really not a good thing at the time. And for the record I'm not even Catholic. I was inside a convent and have a habit of wandering places i am not supposed to be. I was in the kitchen trying to figure out which way my friend and i needed to go to find our bearings. Sheesh-a bible of all things

I'm not into reality shows in the first place (don't even know the name of them Survivor's Island might have been one?) Anyway--reality shows I won't be watching--Octomom. Bagjavich (you know, the ex-governor of Illinois, Indiana? Wherever O'Bama is from) Seems like about any of us could have a reality show about us. The Duggers--is that a reality show or something else? Chris and Kate and Eight?

Methinks I will stick to Forensic Files, Cold Case Files, City Confidential--those kinds of reality shows.

We grew up in a little one-horse town with a Methodist church. The town where we went to school had Methodist, Baptist and Penecostal. The county seat had SEVERAL Baptist denominations, the Nazarene, and the Catholics. Altho I never heard anything about there being actual nuns in THAT little one-horse town, either. So, we travel to Trinidad for sight-seeing. We come across some buildings and a lady steps out. My oldest sister says "Look!!!! Look!!!! A mummy!!!!!" Course, all us younger kids didn't know the difference--after all, she was the oldest and knew the most, but I'm betting my dad about wrecked the car!!!

Amy

I remember 2 parties when I was growing up. One was my 5th BD, ALL the kids in the "hood"---6 of them, maybe, lol!!! (Came from a VERY, VERY small town.) And, my oldest sister had a sleep over for maybe her 13th--I know there were @ least 3 girls there!!! I do recall pics of some of the younger kids' probably 5th BD's--again maybe a total of 5 or 6 kids.

I don't remember the other kids' BD's so much, but on my summer BD, I would find A present @ the breakfast table. Then, a cake and maybe some ice cream after supper. Usually not even the aunts and uncles were there, but both grandmothers were as they lived right next to us. Birthdays was the ONLY time we had cake, too. And, if it wasn't all eaten that night, sometimes we ate more cake for breakfast!!!! There was only that one present--even the grandma's were not expected to provide a gift. (There were 7 of us kids, on Daddy's side there were another 6 or so cousins, and on Mom's side there were a dozen--neither grandma "worked" so of course BD presents for so many kids were pretty much out of the question.)

My poor kids (now almost 19 and 21) never got a party @ McD's or the skating rink, the only 2 places we had available. They did, from age 6 or so, have sleep overs. That was only for about maybe 5 years. They did, however GO to some parties @ these "party palaces," tho.

We arrange pick-up times-i offer to drive etc. etc. Then i get home and realize thats the day we have to move our youngest home from school DUH!!!! That will be a full day-I am dreading cleaning the condo-each of us Mom's are taking a room or 2 each and the boys are responsible for their own bedrooms. They are doing some of the other cleaning but i dont think their standard will be acceptable. He will be off campus next year so have to get over to the house to lay eyes on it to figure out what he needs. I wanna see where my 450.00 a month is going anyways-sounds nice tho. Not a bad gig for the owner-smart investment. Five guys in a 5 bedroom at 450.00 apiece. University's up here are all wrapped up with exams by end of April at the latest. It's still killing me tho i gotta pay for May,June,July and most of Aug. where he wont even be living there. Oh well-I guess i best get my hands on a hazmat suit for cleaning day. LOL

I've seen enough Judge Judy and Judge Mathis shows to know to take pictures of the condo before you move in or do anything at all to the place. Document any rug stains or broken tiles and docement it to the owner.

Catholic Dog
Muldoon lived alone in the Irish countryside with only a pet dog for company. One day the dog died, and Muldoon went to the parish priest and asked, "Father, my dog is dead. Could ya' be saying' a mass for the poor creature?"

Father Mickaleen replied, "I'm afraid not; we can't have services for an animal in the church. But there are some Baptists down the lane, and there's no tellin' what they believe. Maybe they'll do something for the creature."

Muldoon said, "I'll go right away Father. Do ya' think $5,000 is enough to donate to them for the service?"

Father Patrick exclaimed, "Sweet Mary, Mother of Jesus! Why didn't ya tell me the dog was Catholic?

Nawny, I just love your jokes. So does Mom. She laughs and laughs and then tries to repeat them, but can't tell a joke to save her life.

Hi Os, I came over here and now I don't remember why.

I think I was going to tell yoy that I received two reverse 911 calls on Sunday telling me I may need to evacuate if the wild fires got any closer and to pay attention to LE. I don't know why since the fires were about eight miles away. But the smoke was drifting over since that Saturday and it just irritated my respiratory system. I'm on antibiotics, mucinex dm, allergy sprays and an asthma enhaler. I actually sound terrible but feel pretty good. Let me tell you, on Monday I realized that I could not taste anything. Do you think that kept me from eating? - no. I said to myself, I can't taste this but I knew it did taste good so I kept eating. :punch:

I also read that you had tadpoles in your pond. They like to eat goldfish flakes. I know there is a way to tell if they are frogs or toads. I think frogs will walk and toads only jump. Sounds as if they like the vacuum sound. Maybe they think it's thunder. ;)

That's a lot of spay/neuter to pay for! Do you get a discount from Friends of Animals or anything? Look into it - many States have a program at a reduced rate. Then you have to go to a participating vet. Like a HMO.

DH would be jealous of your frogs/toads! He really likes them and the koi. You would think he would like to move to a warmer climate to retire, but no. I still maintain he can come and visit me when I move to FL, near you.

Pretty sure these are toads since they don't try to get into any water. (Although I have very little standing water in the place; that would constitute a mosquito farm around here!) Is your pond cloudy? Did it freeze over? I hope your koi made it! We didn't lose any but DH is so attached to them that we run the filter all winter and a floating heater so gases can escape. We have started feeding them again and they look fine.

I just saw my first snake of the year on Saturday. The dogs don't bring them in the house - fortunately! My little dog does bring me baby rabbits.... The big ones are trying to kill the groundhog living under the barn.

Daisy, I finished pulling up my plants and no sign of my pink koi. Was hoping that she was hiding, but guess the raccoons got her. I run both my pumps 24/7/365 and the lower pond rarely freezes over since it's mostly protected by a staircase leading from the pool deck to the orlop (even though it's mostly above ground). I float beachballs on the surface of my ponds and my pool to keep an opening just in case. I would love to install a filter, even though the water stays pretty darned clear, but my plumbing skills are very limited. Am thinking about putting in a new liner this year if I can find someone else to do it; not about to tackle that by myself! But if I can get my original pond builder out here I'll have him do it. I absolutely have to replace the liner in my upper pond since the %)# #!*& neighborhood dogs have managed to rip it while taking a swim, tearing up plants and killing fish. I've been adding water every other day. My upper pond has about a four foot waterfall and it does freeze; it's not very deep and is only about 800 gals. Looks bigger than it is. Going to start feeding my fishies today. Love how they eat out of your hand! Leroy is very attached to watching the ponds. Kind of like he's fond of floating in the pool. LMAO

Does anyone else here have rotten neighbors? I've got arseholes on both sides of me. Oh criminy. Here I go!:cuss:

ETA: We think the snake got into the basement and came up the chimney wall. Who knows?! I begged Leroy to bring home copious amounts of moth balls to put out to keep them the hell away.

Hahahaha!! Oprah got smart and hip to these losers and backed out of the deal and that has to pissing little Miss Queen Bee Cindy to no end!!! The first leg of the "sympathy tour" came to an abrupt end before it even started! And their lawyers are not worth a lick if they are gonna keep letting their clients flap their lips! They were too distraught to go to those depos, and acted like total assholes when they were forced to do so, but ya notice one day they whine about the media and the next day Cindy is calling every media outlet demanding to go on their shows and flap her gums about her innocent daughter??? I missed the CBS early show, anyone got a link and can you post it?? I gotta watch that especially after Oprah just dissed them and we all know why they wanted to be her guest. She is a powerful woman, and people bow down to her, (not me, I can't stand her) and I think they thought the mostly female audience would hang on to every word that she would say and I think Queen of the dammed there thought she could use Oprah and her followers to come around and buy all their crap stories and now that has been dashed and I hope other media outlets will do the same, why give these camerawhores anymore air time when it is the same old bulls*it???

Singing the same tunes and boy did they lie like rugs during that depo!! The truth escapes this whole family, those kids were taught early on how to be liars and con artists, when you get caught in one lie, have another one ready and when I watched those depos, a light bulb went off in my head, For months people sympathized with C&G, the poor grandparents and I am now convinced that THEY ALL KNOW WHEN AND HOW CAYLEE DIED BECAUSE THEY WERE THERE!!! Ted Bundy actually worked at a suicide hot-line, here he is, the good looking jock, convincing people not to take their lives and he is taking women out on a daily basis!! I think that CA panicked and called Mommy and Daddy and told them that Caylee was dead and they could not call the authorities and say she just drowned in the pool or fell down and died because when a child dies and autopsy is mandatory and the chloroform would have showed up in the tox screens!!! So they have been covering each others asses, that is why they are trying so hard to run the Zany scam and when the lawyer asked them C about Zany, she claimed to have phone numbers and addresses for this person, but she lost them???? I really think these people think the rest of the world is dumb and that we should be taking every word their liar daughter has said, that Zany killed her child and George says as much at that sham of a memorial. We all should write letters of support to his daughter because she is HURTING???

I can't wait to watch the courtroom antics with these two!! I have a feeling they will get barred from it, they are gonna get up and scream at witnesses and the DA and quite possibly the jury and the judge will bar them like they do with other unruly losers. I predict when the jury find CA guilty they are gonna flip out and curse the jury, the judge and all the world and right now, by trying to ***** themselves out to the media, they are not doing their daughter any favors. Potential jurists probably watched the depos, they saw that sham memorial service, they have watched that b*tch show no emotion for anyone but herself, they are gonna read all the texts and e-mails, one talking head on NG said that out of 2,000 texts, Caylee was mentioned twice, it was all about partying and crotch dancing at the clubs, they are gonna hear testimony about what a liar she is, how she stole money from them.

Cindy tried to deny she stole money from her at the depo, but they already have that on file, she told the police about CA racking up $45,000 on her credit cards and George earlier had said CA stole from Caylee's piggie bank and took money out of Cindy's purse so right there, they have them in lies. The lawyer I thought was being decent to them so they can't piss and moan that he badgered them, if anything, they badgered him!!! I plan on not missing a second of the trial, if I have an appt, I am gonna set my DVR, this is one case I will follow till the day the sodium penatol hits the vein in that b*tch's arm and then we will never have to hear about these scumbag again .The only difference between them and the Scummings, is the tax bracket, they are all low-lifes and losers, lying through their teeth about their daughters and granddaughter.

:punch:

Gator

I just hate that--I had a cold and haven't been able to taste anything for a couple of weeks now. Smell, which affects the taste--all I smell is probably the infection from the sinuses--UGH!!!! I usually use the no-taste time to eat things that are really nutritious that I can't normally stand to eat. I've been noshing to beat the band. I guess, not tasting the stuff, I can't tell I'm eating or something. But then I get a feeling, kind of bloated, pressure under the diaphragm--I guess telling me I am FULL!!!!! Or, more likely, OVER full.

Hope the fires stay away from you, and the wind blows all the irritants the other way!!!

I'll give you all tours of the Liar's haunts. We can eat at the Orlando Ale House, shop at Target, have drinks at Fushion and go visit TonE and the Amscott. But no swinging on the stripper pole!:o

Gator

WELL!!!! If I can't swing on the stripper pole, I'm just gonna stay home!!! That is the main attraction---;)

Hey Loretta, too bad about the pink koi. We don't have anything that pretty, but we do have a blue one. It's called blue but it's not really what I would call blue. Ours have reproduced over the years and now we have some bazaar looking koi.

My DH's dogs like to go in the pond. I had to put a stupid looking fence around it to keep them out. They don't damage anything intentionally but do knock the plants around and mess up the water clarity.

You could put some goldfish in your pond. Much cheaper!

Hey Daisy! The koi were a splurge, it was the end of the season and they were a twofer. I mostly buy the feeder goldfish that are usually ten for a dollar. We've got a few that are damned near big enough to eat! They are easy to get attached to, a few of mine get names.

Oh gawd Loretta-snakes  I can handle any rodent but no reptiles. One's in these parts are harmless but i still run at the sight of em. We do have the Mississauga rattler-never have seen one tho. That sucks bad neighbours-we have great ones except for one kiddie corner to us-he provides a great deal of entertainment from our porches. He is the very definition of an asshat. Once he tried to convince me planes expanded by 100 feet once airborne-I just said oh goody more leg room. Thank gawd he travels for work and is home just often enough to impregnate the wife and spend 5 min. with the kids he does have. All of us on this side luv summer eve's on our porches. His house is starting to need repair but he brings home all these 'toys'. I missed the highlights tho when he lit some brush on his front lawn and his truck caught on fire. I'm not sure if he realizes he is in the city LOL His nickname is cement head-I did not name him honest.

LMAO@Cement head! Snakes didn't bother me when I was younger, but they creep me out now, we do have poisonous ones around here; had a water moccasin in one of my ponds last year. I am downright askeered of them! As for the black snakes, king snakes, garden snakes, etc. I love that they eat insects and rodents. We have quite a few moles around here.

Hi Loretta - I went to the nursery next door at lunch and bought tadpoles and snails. I looked at the koi - nothing pink. The fancy varieties were $24.99. Too expensive! I'm glad we don't need anymore. I don't need anymore plants either but every time I go there I buy something.

Beem, the mayor sounds like the kind of guy that would keep me inside! Of course, I can barely stand to be outside unless I'm working in the yard or greenhouse (which I love), but so many allergies make me an AC kind of girl. And don't know about you, but I FHATE it when people drop in on me, and there's no excuse because our house is way off the street. I usually don't answer the door for drop-ins.

Daisy, I've never had much luck with snails for some reason, so I've quit wasting my money on them. A couple of dogs have been by three times today and they managed to get into the lower pond and muck it up and tear up the plants that I had just repotted. I am so pissssssssssssed.

Meant to tell y'all who love plants about this site if you're not already familiar. I'm really excited to "buy" some things to support this cause!

BOMBSHELL!!! The voice mail from Queenie? And I quote. "Casey must have had help" Now this is early on when there was a chance that Caylee was alive?? And the suicide notes, she wanted to commit suicide when they were singing the song that Caylee was taken by the nanny?? Why if you were so adamant that this child was alive, why would you want to take your life?? Would you want to kill yourself when you should keep hope alive?? NOT!! Nope this was another one of attention getting antics and I was LOL when a talking on Jane called the "cover up tour" and I was rolling with glee when it was announced that that Human Rights/Victims organization were canceling them as Ants were invited as guest speakers, SMART MOVE! Why hasn't their lawyers advised them to shut the f*ck up??? They have them in so many contradictions and lies at this point, it will be a slam dunk conviction and she can blame her parents and you can bet she will, right to the night she gets needled!! CA had to have help, to do what pray tell??

Dispose of the body or help murder her?? I still think that these sh*itheads know who and when because they were there!! They are covering for themselves and I listened to their spiel this morning on the Early Show with disgust but not shock, just the same old crap spin coming out their mouths, the media just needs to save this interview to disk and pass it around to each other!!! It is so obvious that Queenie loves being in front of that camera, until she is backed in a corner such as at the depos and not only that they got to pre-approve the questions?? This is not good journalism, it is as bad as TMZ and I am hoping that the other networks do not think these losers are newsworthy and not give in to this shrew or selfish murdering dirtbag of a daughter!

I gotta tell ya, as much as everyone questioned Leonard Padilla's agenda, he has hit the nail on the head many times and has been doubtful and on to Cindy's crap way before anyone else was, he was bad mouthing her early on much to NG's dismay and how right is he now? Here she is. running her own show and we thought he wanted a reality show?? This b*tch you watch, given a chance, would want a reality show, God help us all if that were to happen, unless it shows daily prison life of the four of them, can you dig it?? She LOVES that camera and George is nothing more than a lap dog, he has no balls to stand up to her, but I noticed one question got to him this morning and I thought he was gonna break down and show the real George, the one that used to be the cop, and then she gives him this look, anyone besides me see that and he shuts right up so it is sooo clear that whatever Queenie wants, she gets at any price and that bounty is now on poor little angel Caylee's head, she could not have loved that child, I don't think these morons know what love is, because if they did they would not forsake their precious granddaughter to save their selfish daughter. You always hear them run the spin that they not only lost a granddaughter but have lost their daughter too, it is not going to be a win win for them at any stage of the game, the truth is going to come out and I hope when that happens all these scumbags go down in flames!!!

Neither George nor Cindy are credible witnesses. It'll be interesting to see if the prosecution or the defense call them; they have nothing to say that cannot be impeached. As for when Cindy sounded the alarm for me? During the 911 call when she was so fractious that she commented about it smelling like there had been a dead body in the damned car. Nasty harridan.

They have crepe myrtle trees. Believe it or not, I fell in love with my house the first time I saw it because of the crepe myrtle tree in the front yard. It is my crowning glory. It's a beautiful shade of lavendar - like a lilac. If it ever died, I'd be miserable. I wait all year for it to bloom and it's a late bloomer but stays in bloom for months.

Morning armchair detectives and psychologists! Beem, can you believe that I fell asleep before Harper's Island was over?!?!?!?! Woke up while Letterman was on; haven't seen him in blows and ages, and he is still a riot! Fell asleep again and woke up with a hotflash at about 5am. Turned the thermostat waaaayyyyy down and almost froze Leroy out. :hat: Yesterday was the first time that we've had both units on AC. Seems like every year we have one on AC and the other on heat during March and April.

Haven't ordered anything from the free plants place yet, but I just found it a couple of days ago. From what I can tell, they'll alert you if they are sold out of what you order. They don't have a lot of what I need, but I'm going to buy something/anything just because I like the sound of what they're doing!

CAUTION: MANIFESTO TO FOLLOW!!!

Great news on one of my rotten neighbors. (It's the grandson of the couple next door.) It looks like he moved out yesterday for real. Cannot tell you how many times there has been a screaming match over there and he packs up, but then doesn't leave. The issue with him is really his dog; she is very threatening and has all the signs of being vicious; growing, snarling, jumping up and lunging at me, and since I work outside so much, I carry my BB gun or pellet gun with me if she's off the leash or out of the house. She tore up the liner and killed plants and fish in one of my ponds and now I'm dreading even getting an estimate on the liner replacement. I've also caught her in my pool, but don't think she did any damage. Helllllloooooo why doesn't she get in their pool? Why mine? I think the sheriff has talked to them half a dozen times, so I'm glad to see the kid gone and hope he took the b!tch with him. He's kinda psycho; fights with his wife, screams and throws things, and the other day she wasn't getting in the car fast enough he was laying on the horn and racing around the driveway circle. Not kidding! It was whack! I would NOT have gotten in the car with him after that! (And I thought Leroy is impatient!)

Not sure I can categorize my other neighbors, except that they're idiots. They hired the town crank dealer to do some painting, the town drunk who was later arrested for assault with a deadly weapon/attempted murder to work on their deck, and the guy that cuts their grass has two convictions for domestic battery; one when he and his father beat his pregnant GF. But two things have gotten my goat lately. For one, they confronted Leroy insisting that we put a gate on our pool because their four (or five) year old doesn't mind. Well, hell. The little oppositional defiant brat would have to toddle past a bluff with a twenty foot drop-off just to fall into our pool!! What are they going to do about that? What if my nieces and nephews trespass on their property and fall? What if I get drunk and fall? HUH? What're they gonna do then? LMAO I wrote a list of suggestions for them including 1) a child harness, 2) lo-jack for kids, 3) swimming lessons, 4) a child psychiatrist with prescription writing capabilities, and 5) pay attention to the hellion! Leroy wouldn't let me give it to them.

The second thing they did was hire some guys to do some landscaping, which doesn't seem bad on the surface, especially since in the six or so years that they've lived here, they've never taken any pride in their yard. I've never even seen them pick up trash; they just wait or the wind to blow it over here and we pick it up. Anyway, they cut a bunch of trees, but not sure why since it's not a part of the yard that they are likely to mow or rake, so no telling what it will look like in time. It was sad to see the trees go and even sadder that the workers left them laying for over a week and the view from my house was similar to a tornado. The kicker was when they had the guys who were raking come onto my property and rake up all the ivy that I had transplanted to try and effect soil conservation (our lot is very sloped). I ran out and told them to stop in my broken Spanish, and they explained to me in their broken English that they were hired. Homeowner could see me talking to them, but just stood and scratched his arse. Wifey came over and asked me the problem and I told her they were not only trespassing, but tearing up my hard work. She tried to explain that she didn't realize where the property line is (it's staked!) and they were doing me a favor anyway. I shut the door in her face. So hubby came over and said he hadn't been paying attention to the workers and if I had something they could plant to replace what was torn up, he would have them do it. WTF?!?!? I told him to tell them to just finish raking the stuff up and haul it off since it was torn up. The next morning they had raked it back onto my property but just in a heap, not replanted. A week or so went by and they finally started cleaning up all the debris from The Scorched Earth Method of Landscape Design, but not my ivy that was now wilted and pretty much dead, so I spent half a day cleaning it up. They have still not apologized or offered a plan of restitution. See why I'm beginning to hate them? I bought some ivy to plant, and I told Leroy I am going to send them a bill when I get through. He doesn't care as long as he isn't involved, but it honks me off to have my work disrespected!

Sorry for the novel, but I do feel better.

Leroy has no idea what I do or how much time it takes or anything. He's in his own little Absent-minded Proessor World and thinks things just miracle themselves! MEN!!!

HAHA about the shovel, I actually had to defend myself against the neighbor's dog once and when I called the SO to get them to come up and talk to the kid, I told the operator that I had to hit the b!tch with a shovel. LMAO She thought I meant the neighbor instead of the female dog. :hat:

Wow, you all certainly have colorful neighbors. Mine have quieted down over the years.

I have an old, crazy woman next door. When her husband died she stopped taking care of the yard. She has money to pay someone to do it, she just doesn't want it done. She has this idea of the land returning to it's natural state. Anyway, I sneak along the fence and spray the wild grape and wild rose on her property. Her mess is climbing the trees on her side and jumping the fence on my side. I don't want my trees choked to death. I can't let her see me....

The other neighbor is a divorced man. As luck would have it, his mailbox is on my property (that's where the PO put it). It's the corner, very far tip of my property, but nonetheless, my property. He yells at me to let me know I need to take the weed whacker out and trim around his mailbox. He mentioned he does not like pink flowers. Every year I now plant every pink flower I can find in that corner.

Daisy, my father and my sister both like "the natural look" in their yards too. I don't see why they're not afraid of snakes and rats and critters and damage from windfall, etc. Just so many problems that go along with an unkempt yard!

My Grinchy neighbors' mailbox is on my property too. Just mowed around it yesterday. Will they care? No. (Thinking about moving a red ant hill next to it!) When lightning struck their sprinkler system causing them to lose thousands of gallons of water and I called the water company to shut off the meter and do an inspection did they thank me? No. They DID tell me that the H2O bill was over $1000 and that was their deductible, but the water co. refunded the payment. But since they had already written it off their taxes (you can do that? Fortunately we've never had a loss.), they collected it again. Did they buy me a bottle of wine? No! These people (as are many of the folks in our neighborhood) are what we locals call nuclear gypsies. They move around the country working at various power plants and many of them just never set down roots. In addition, may of them are ex-military (nuclear Navy) and have moved from pillar to post with the same results. They make scads of money, but some of them won't spend it on so much as a garbage bag.

I love it here, but if the right situation arose, I think I would leave and not look back.

I better quit whining!!

Too funny!!! Ya i'm back-thought my errands would take me up to work time NOT!!! I hate waiting to GO to work!!! Yes i am going to enjoy tomorrow but for sure need the sunscreen-still peeling from last weekend. That has to be so frickin frustrating. We had a pit bull in the neighbourhood a few years ago-before they were banned in Ontario. This dog was terrifying when he got loose-tore the mail ladies ear off. So obv. the dog was put down. Prior to that it was like a neighbourhood hit being planned-we have alot of youngins on the street. I just stayed out of it-I did hear one of the plans that involved pouring gravy over a sponge and throwing it in their backyard. Sounded like a gruesome death but this was not an animal-a beast. Be careful and i am glad u are packin when outside :hat:

Oh. My. God. As much as I can't stand this dog and as afraid of her as I am, if I kill her, it will be with the loaded .410 that I keep by the door, not in some inhumane way.

Tore the ear off the mail carrier? I hope she sued the hayell out of them!! :cuss: And that reminds me; when this dog was a puppy and belonged to the grandparents, she destroyed an expensive wreath off my mailbox, tore up several pairs of shoes, and left enormous "gifts" in my berms. When I finally caught her red-handed and confronted Mr. Grinch, he told me that his wife had told him that she had called all the neighbors to try and find out whose property was being destroyed. LIAR!!!!!!!!!!

I better get off the subject before I work myself into a dither! :D:hat::biggrin:

I too have had neighbors from hell and thank God I don't now. In this state people are junk yard dogs, heaps of old cars,. but Gee, they are worth money, old trailers, barrels, old campers, heaps of car parts, and just crap adorn their yards and our township manager is getting pissed off and fining people and while some have heeded the order, some just to be dinkweeds, actually piled more crap, I guess to prove a point and all they have done really is to show their white trash mentality, they feel they have the right to be slobs and God Bless none of them live near me, everyone takes pride in their homes and yards and the only thing my next door neighbors and I are fighting is a battle with moles!!

They have a regular city going on, mole condos, mole highrisers, and I don't really want to kill them, but we are gonna have to because they have gotten out of hand and our nice green lawns are marred by these heaps of dirt they have dug up and now that the weather is getting better, it is 80 degrees out today YEAH! we are going attack this issue before our yards look really crappy. I have a beautiful pond on the property and last year my landlord and I cleaned up all the dead weeds and cat tails and dead trees and opened it back up again and now my new neighbors that now live in her house, have planted three fir trees near it and they are in the process of having a garden and Heidi has already planted flowers and a fruit tree and it so nice to have people give a hoot about how they live, I lucked out, we had some real winners show up wanting to rent her house, I was afraid I was gonna end up with a junk yard dog and 10 kids or somebody like Ronnie Rager, but we got a nice family, the children are great and life is good here as I was so used to living alone for the most part, she was never here, she worked upstate and then would go to FL for the winter.

I was nervous that my privacy and lifestyle would be cramped and far from it, we all get along great but I do know about bad neighbors. When I lived in town, I lived in a six unit building. Pretty much right off I noticed that people appeared to be low-lifes and it became apparent that most of them did not work, living off welfare or selling drugs which came to an abrupt halt when I moved in as I told them I was a former LE officer and they figured I would rat them out and I did!! All the time I was the only one that did not have a prison record, and after two years, I was fixing to kill someone had I stay there and I practically begged Pam rent me this house! The landlord did not give a crap who you were, show him a dollar and you could move right in and he would not listen to anything I said, till I told him I was moving and he was like you can't you are like my best tenant, and I told him that he did nothing to help me, just sent more losers my way when one would move out and since I have been gone, 5 people have lived in my apt! I plan on living here for a long time!!

HAH! We've got our share of crap, I'll be honest! But I've done my best to organize and disguise and find a place for all of it. One big issue is the tractor; NOT a lawn tractor. And FUGLY?!?!?! I asked Leroy what year model it was and he said '65. WHAT?! They made tractors in 1865?! It's straight out of Green Acres, dahlink! We've also got one of those ugly utility trailers that kind of gets parked wherever the mood strikes him. I tell him just to try and make sure that at least one set of offensive neighbors has to look at it!

I have lived next to "Sheriff" Bob since 1994. He's an odd duck, to say the least. I worked w/his nephew's MIL, and she says this guy is definetly (sp) the black sheep of the family.

He never confronted me--he used to wait until my folks were staying here w/the kids while I was out of town, then would come to Mom w/a list of complaints. She was a nervous wreck, didn't know how to respond. I told her, anytime he comes over, to tell him that he will just have to wait until I get home to discuss it w/me, and to NOT listen or pay any attention to him. He would upset the kids by confronting them but would NOT say a word to me. Is there a problem, Bob? Well, not that HE knew of. Guess he tho't there was no longer a problem because he talked to the kids? :flamemad:

He did confront me when his g/f moved out and there were flowers missing from his yard. I did suspect my DS might have taken the flowers, and was floored to find it was DD and her friend--they took the flowers to the friend's mom. I went to several nurseries to check on replacements, but it was the wrong time of year. I told him I would give him the $$ now, or buy the plants/bulbs when it was the right season. That is when he told me he was going to get rid of them anyway. Not that that excused the girls for going into his yard and taking the plants. Now, if they had approached him and ASKED for them, that would have been different. But, of course, they were afraid to ask him. (Didn't that give the girls a clue it was not a good idea to take them while he wasn't there?)

One day I came home and he came and said- DS could not come on their property. His stepson is several years younger than DS, but they were @ the age where kids of all ages played together. The bottom line was, DS had some friends over. They were @ the neighbors playing with the stepson, DS was in the house. The step son and the other kids were playing with a hose and accidentally got the wife's car wet, so decided to just "wash" the car. Of course, Sheriff Bob says now there will be water spots, etc etc etc. The real kicker? Wife WAS OUTSIDE and did not stop HER SON nor the other kids from washing her car--just sat there and watched them!!!!

Sheriff Bob came to my door and said the "garbage and trash" on the car port was drawing flies to his side of the fence and the flies bothered Einstien--his dog. IMMEDIATELY, I got DS and friend who was visiting to help me clean the area. Sheriff Bob stood there and WATCHED us doing this. There was a lot of dirt that had drifted in, so we shoveled out dirt and leaves. There was I think a soft drink glass (like from Sonic or McD's) and a french fry box--but not ONE INSECT of any kind was found ANYWHERE. And, certainly NO FLIES. So, the next morning, the friendly cop who lives down the street was on my doorstep. Says Sheriff Bob (well, he didn't call him sheriff) had complained about a mess on my property, but that he (cop) looked and didn't see what the problem was. I told him, for Pete's sake, I cleaned THE MINUTE Bob left my porch AND THAT BOB SAW ME DO THAT. Cop says, well, Bob did complain to him and he had to follow up and he sees there is no problem. I suggested to the friendly neighborhood cop (who happened to be a friend of Sheriff Bob) that THE DOG SH*T PRODUCED BY THE DOG IN THAT YARD MIGHT JUST BE THE REASON THERE ARE FLIES IN HIS YARD!!!!

We call him Sheriff Bob because several years ago, he ran for county sheriff. OMG!!!! He was really the laughing stock, but did get maybe 100 votes--and they sure weren't from his family!!! lol. My kids went beserk and said that if he got Sheriff WE WOULD HAVE TO MOVE!!!!! NO WAY were they going to live next door to him--they would be moving to live w/their dad (in the same county, but @ least not next door, lol.)

Last year he reported tall weeds in my back yard. (I don't go there, myself.) What was there looked like part of the rose bushes, SOMEONE would have to have COME INTO MY BACKYARD to get close enough to see those 3 stalks were weeds and not part of the rose bush. Chief of police even came over (after I went off on the police officer who came to my door.) But, did anyone ever do anything about the weeds in the alley on Bob's property? And the weeds on property right across the street from the City building? Or the weeds growing on the curb on main street? I guess not---those weeds were there for @ least TWO MONTHS after I was given a citation for THREE weeds that grew against my deck in my back yard. I would have reported Sheriff Bob's weeds, but that would have just given him ammunition to find more things against me.

BE CAREFUL!:eek::eek::eek:

Guys, this Mexican swine flu is real bad, I think worse than is being reported if some Mexican blogs I was reading last night are any clue. And I know they've been watching for it here since at least last week. The family "plague" as I called it sent my mom to the emergency room, and they took tons of blood samples from her for no reason...I think this is why! (I actually hope it was the swine flu and we got past it. I can't imagine being sicker than we were and not being in the hospital at least.)

So avoid groups and wash your hands! Sorry if I sound like a den mother.

http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSTRE53N22820090425

Hope your Mom is better by now! Glove up, put on a mask and give her a hug!

The flu scares me no end, I stay at home so much I wonder if I've kept my immune system up to date. Rarely get out in crowds, but when I do and I see sick people it really, really honks me off. Leroy just got over The Crud and of course insisted on going to school and coughing all over the place. The b@st@rd. I've heard that by the time you're actually sick, you're no longer contagious, but I can always tell days ahead when I'm coming down with something.

My biggest fear is a pandemic of course but being at work and the alert coming out or someone with symptoms and me be stuck there. Not that i wanna get it but to be quarantined there???? It would spread like wildfire. It would be bad enough but i dont wanna die there

That would be awful. We could break you out! http://i42.tinypic.com/15mn58h.jpg

Your prolly smart to do that these days Loretta-too many weird bugs now. I can tell day's ahead as well-dont laugh but the bottom of my feet get really hot-fevered feet maybe???? I dunno but it is my sick vane. Helps tho as you can not plan appointments etc. knowing something is going to hit ya in a few day's

OT: Okay, don't you laugh, but when I have a hotflash, I stick my feet out from under the covers. Cools me of quick fast and in a hurry!

Anyway, people who are in touch with their bodies probably all have their own early warning system. For me it's a nagging headache in a particular spot.

We were discussing this the other day @ work. If you call in sick, you get a lot of grief. You have to describe your symptoms, you can't just say, hey, I'm sick and won't be there!!! Gee, 3 other people have called in sick, isn't there any way you can come to work? (Yep, when some kind of crud is "going around" ya gotta expect that more than one person might have it, or their children who will need a parent to stay home to deal with.) Or, you've already called in sick x number of times, this will call for a disciplinary action. So, you might go to work @ a time you would not only be better off staying home to get over "the crud" but if you come to work, you are exposing the patient--who already is sick and doesn't need an additional malady to make matters worse.

And, you show up @ work cuz if you don't, your co-workers (and your boss) say, yeah, right, she's sick NOT!!!! She always calls in sick etc etc etc. They take one look @ you--stay away from me!!! I don't need to get what you've got!!! How dare you come to work like this, and now I will get what you have!!!! So, make up your minds--you want us to come to work regardless, or you want us to stay home when we are obviously sick?

I went to work one day, and even before report I was feeling worse and worse. My assignment included a cancer patient who really, really didn't need what I had. Actually, none of the patients deserved being exposed to me. So, I said, I've got to go home. I was told I'd have to wait til they got someone to replace me!!! AND, even asked if I could pass the 9o'clock meds!!! I am sitting in a chair, unable to MOVE by that point!!! I said, no, I will NOT be going into patient rooms, and can I leave while I possibly am going to have the strength to drive!!! I spent the next 3 days on the couch...was absolutely SPENT after a trip to the bathroom, forget shower, eating, doing ANYTHING except lying there. On that Friday, I was going to go to the dr office to get my release to return to work on Monday (if you miss 3 consecutive days, you have to have a dr note.) I figured I would be better by Monday, but even if I had been able to get to the dr office on Friday, no way, no how would I have gotten a release based on how bad I was still doing @ that time.

I never did understand why I would have to wait for someone to replace me. It's not like I was going to be up and DOING anything, for Pete's sake!!! They were paying me to sit in a chair like a rag doll!!!!

That seems insane that they would allow you around a cancer patient in that condition. Wouldn't the family get POed or litigious if she caught something from the staff?! You always read that hospital have staff shortages, so you really feel for anyone who works at one. I did years ago and loved it, but don't think I would ever want to go back.

They weren't thinking, that's for sure. The reason I was working that area was because they were short, and I got extra hours signing up for a different department (overtime, extra shift bonus.) No way was I going to walk into that cancer patient's room. And, another patient is a nurse, her mother and sister are nurses. She had had surgeries w/complications, every time a nurse did an assessment, they "reassessed," they questioned everything the doctors and nurses said and did. I told the supervisor, anyone who thinks I was going to walk into THAT room while I was sick, was absolutely NUTS!!!!!

Well, actually anyone who tho't I was going to walk into ANY room the way I felt was nuts. I'm really surprised the other nurses weren't running away from me screaming--don't get close to me!!!! I've been a nurse nigh on to 40 years, and I do admit there are times the nurses are sicker than the patients. This was true years ago when you could get admitted to the hospital for something as simple as a sprained toe. Okay, that is exaggerating a bit, but not by much. Nowadays, you have to just about be on death's door to get admitted (except for surgeries) and you are DISMISSED in a condition that used to be qualifying for ADMISSION. And they just don't need sick nurses taking care of them.

My regular area is newborn ICU, and if we won't let visitors in if they have a cold or other symptoms of illness, why in the world does it make sense that the nurses would be working with the babies? We do let the parents in even if they are ill, altho we discourage more than maybe one visit a day. They have to wear masks. We certainly want them to have contact w/their baby, but we also think they need to be home, trying to get over whatever it is that is ailing them.

Did you ever hear the term "calling in Canadian"? Its because of all your Monday holidays we don't have here. Canadians here instinctively take a Monday sick day per month, its like an internal clock or something.

Oh man, I used to have a department head who was the finest kind; you could call in well! As in feeling just too good to come to work!

Amy-I believe you work in a hospital-are you fitted with your own personal mask. And it is air tested to check it's a proper fit? Well our hospitals all are. In fact on the back on the ID tags is your mask number so they can be passed out quickly if need be if u cant get to the one assigned. I am in the process of getting my own and on my own. Apparently the ones we have been assigned thru our agency really wont offer much protection. Oh goody  Even if it's not needed i will be happy to have it in a baggie and in my work bag. I will be sharing this with co-workers so they can protect themselves and purchase their own. All this planning and masks that aren't worthy. Good lord.

Yep, every October, get TB skin test, flu shot if wanted, and test fit. This past year is the first time I passed the test fit. Always before, I "failed." I don't have a clue where the masks are that we were fitted for. I guess where I work, the powers that be make sure we do all the things necessary to pass JACHO inspection, but stop @ just the necessary.

I know just what you mean. Two weeks ago, a woman comes to my desk and says she's sick and needs to go to the doctor, do i now one close by? bingo, I got it from her. Being diabetic with severe allergies, I have a weakened immune system. No one in that dept wants to stay home because their manager is a real a-hole. That manger reports in through my boss. I had to take a vacation day today because I'm still coughing. I told my boss he better talk to his managers and tell them to not have sick people come to work. She's better and I'm still on three prescriptions.

It's really a bad idea for anyone to show up to work, or even to the corner grocery, church, or anywhere else right now if they have a resp. symptoms, until s/he is determined not to be infected by the swine flu. DD said she heard (I guess on tv) today that if you are feeling ill, get yourself to a hospital straight on.

Hope you get to feeling better. I heard (or read) the other day that this strain of flu seems to hit the 25 to (can't remember the top age, but it was youngish, in the 40's?) where most other flu hardest hits the very young and the very old, and, of course those w/chronic illnesses.

I need Nawny updates! Doesn't she realize that I need to live vicariously through her?! My tears that I shed since I am not there right now are flowing all the way to Orlando!

http://i33.tinypic.com/ddyy47.jpg

ETA: I'll be shocked if she didn't. But I will be shocked if she hung a moon at Cindy, lol!

Okay, I'll spill the beans. Nawny and I met on Saturday and had lunch together. Can you believe neither of us thought to take a photo. I've got to tell you, she is nicer, funnier and even prettier in person than we've seen on the boards. I met two of the Weebles. Two of the absolutely best behaved and polite children I have ever met. Just beautiful little girls who look just like their Nawny and who also adore their Nawny. I offered to take her on the crime tour, but there wasn't enough time. She is one of the warmest, funniest and genuine people I have ever met. So is her family. I hope she is going to be a life-long friend. We covered a lot of crime: Lacey Peterson, Caylee, Haleigh, and that horrible Couey.

I hope to meet more of you in the future. If you ever have a chance to meet up with Nawny, take that opportunity; you will definitely have a great time.

PS - we spoke about you Java, and Beem, Apples, Snoop, Loretta, and Old Soul and wished we could have all met and had a mini crime talk convention.

Thans for all the well wishes. Thank goodness it wasn't the flu but I did stay home for three days in case I was infectious and didn't want to spread the ick. Just dealing with respiratory inflammation due to all the smoke from closeby wildfires. Getting better though, it could have been worse.

Oh gawd NO-she would want us to babysit-nope nope-having no part of that. LOL

Octomom - now she wants to get a dog. Why didn't she think of that before she got preggers. I know when I was a kid, I sure would have preferred a puppy instead of the baby brother I received.

I remember going to the hospital to pick up my mom and the baby. When I saw my mother she gave me a beautiful bride doll and said it was from Dr. Kildaire. I said I would give the doll back if she would give the baby back.

Here is a doctor talking about the swine flu--it's 7 minutes but has some good info. It's Dr Hibbard (there are several videos on the page.)

http://video.newsmax.com/?assetId=V3684500?s=al&promo_code=7EC2-1

I asked a ped this am, and he said they run the Influenza A test, and depending on the result of that (and for the life of me, can't remember WHAT result he said) another specimen is drawn and sent to CDC. He said the gov of KS provided her personal government jet to fly the specimens from the 2 cases in Salina to the CDC. I'm guessing it's going to be kind of like the bird flu (I think that is the one) from several years ago--it's not considered an official case if it's not confirmed by the CDC.

The baby died of measles that she picked up from an un-immunized child.

It went down-hill from there.

How much you wanna bet that The Whack-job family sues for this???

Or that Baez tries to incorporate some of this story into the Skank's defense???

No problem, beem.

It was a pathetic attempt to cash in on the Caylee story to boost ratings, in my opinion. NOT that they need to boost the ratings, in my mind.

I LOVE all the L & O shows, and they shouldn't be stooping to this level.

They mangled the story, which dishonors the memory of Caylee.

And my GOD...the mom and daughter...Cindy/Casey wannabees...Hillary Duff can't act her way out of a wet paper bag with a chain-saw, and Gail O'Grady...DAMN-she was soooo GOOD on NYPD Blue.

Then the George character goes to Measles Mom's house and eats his gun...

VERY BADLY WRITTEN!!!

Just very sub-par and disappointing.

Dang it-I fell asleep during L&O last night-only got as far as them recovering the childs body buried with the doll. Anybody watch who can tell me who the murderer was? I luved the similarities in what i did see. Hate when i fall asleep thru something i wanna see

I watched and thought it was one of the better SVUs that I've seen in a long time. (Something is missing from that show in the last year or so!)

It was interesting that the mother of the child who had refused vaccination for her son was put on trial, and thats what I like about all the L&O franchises, they really do some reaching to find a deep pocket in crimes, and the philosophies put forth in this episode were all valid.

It was somewhat predictable that the father would suicide, but I was still surprised that he did it in the perp's house and didn't take her out too.

Wonder if G&C watched. Even though it was clearly stated that the episode was loosely* based on the Anthony case, they had to be curious. One of the HLN shows yesterday remarked that it was curious that Baez hadn't tried to enjoin NBC from showing "Selfish", but if people (especially the jury pool) watched a took away that this bit of fiction had anything to do with what happened to Caylee, then that's to the defense's good.

Reairs Sunday, May 10, 10pm. (EDT?)

*It's only fitting that anything having to do with Casey Anthony uses the term loose in any form.

I guess there were just too many plot holes for me, even if it was BARELY based on the Caylee story.

And I didn't care for the actresses they chose.

Gale O'Grady-who I think is a fine actress-was reduced to a caricature of Cindy-and a total harpy.

And Hillary Duff???

OMG-even Casey isn't THAT vapid/vacant/air-headed/dense. Pick one or more that applies.

She's a cold-calculating sociopathic BEOTCH.

And the George character...I've never seen a man with that little spine actually LIVING. I mean-the spine contains the central nervous system and all the nerves leading to and from the brain-right???

He resembled a garden slug with Stockholm Syndrome, and the Cindy character was his terrorist/kidnapper.

Even the REAL George isn't THAT whipped...

well think about it though, if they had used actual facts from the real case then mightn't they have to PAY the anthony's for some kind of licensing of the story? law and order has always taken stories straight from the headlines and then changed them up a bit to make them NOT the real story before airing the show, at least i have always seen it this way.

i liked how the lawyer was a loud mouth media hog, wanting to bring as much attention as possible, they really tried to emphasize that media frenzy. all in all i liked the episode, it was a good one and i would watch it again, although hillary duff.................yuck lol she is just too blonde for this role

The NBC promotion doesn't even mention the Anthony case, so for people to assume that Selfish was anything more than barely predicated on Caylee's story is possibly a stretch(ETA: or written to be able to claim that). The franchise takes leeway with many of the plots ripped from the headlines, probably to protect the innocent, cover their arses and to keep from having to pay any royalties, etc.

It was fiction and had a good couple of twists.

Yeah-I realize that. I just didn't care for the chosen actors or their imterpretation of the roles, I guess.

I wasn't expecting L & O-SVU's interpretation of The Caylee Anthony Story, but this just disappointed me.

I do know what you mean about using the actual facts and having to pay the media-whores for the story. I'm glad they didn't, just for that reason.

And as I said, Duff...ECK!!!!! She's such a TWIT!!!! Did she even realize how STOOPID she came off???

Granted, Casey probably didn't ace many of her classes in school, other than sex ed, gym, and typing (we know how well she texts), but she's MENSA material next to Duff.

I was waiting for her to lapse into Val-speak and knock herself unconscious bobbing her head from side to side. Ya know???

Probably falls flat on her face when she walks and chews gum at the same time. It should HURT to be that stupid-even if it's just an act.

BTW-I LOVE Annie Potts!!! She kicks AZZ!!! Just the right amount of rabid for a defense attorney. LOL!!!

Dammit! Grrrrr, I don't understand! I heard about another one tonight, you all must have heard about Emma on NG tonight. Her mother suffocated her and threw her out the car on the thruway. She was only 18 months old. This instant gratification generation doesn't want to raise kids! It's a total effort in self sacrifice and they can't get off their cell phones long enough to take care of a kid!! A 24 year old mother who still lived with her own mother..

Shoot her! Now! :cuss: I hope she rots from the inside out!

And what's up with the chickie who went off to Myrtle Beach? Her mother looks like she's got a few screws missing. She's illiterate. "I don't' know who would have tookin her" ??? What the hell kind of talk is that? She needs new meds because her story stinks to high heaven. She should also put on some clothes and get rid f the 60's hair.

I can't take it I tell ya! I'm going to keep thinking of those people who take the law into their own hands. I think if the A's didn't believe Casey killed Caylee, they'd be out on a search and destroy mission and they wouldn't stop until they found the SOB who did it.

All these baby killers should get put on the rack! Lat's see how this new murderer's family reacts. . .

If they defend her I'm going to pour the cawfee on the keyboard!

I know Danagher - its so hard to read this stuff day in and day out sometimes I have to take a break. We have a thread going on Emma too- So sad. Why don't these people put their kids up for adoption if they don't want them? I just don't understand.

She said she was knocked out for five hours. Only on tv shows can you sustain a bump to the head that knocks you out for FIVE HOURS and just wake up with no lasting effects. Guess what? You would have severe brain damage. She would not even be able to tell her lying story if she had been knocked out for five hours. I am sure this was their first clue that something was up. There was a case where a woman claimed she had been knocked out for 45 minutes and a man came in her house and stole her baby and in that case a neurologist testifed that sustaining a blow that had you out even 15 minutes you would have at least minor to major brain injury or a skull fracture. 5 hours, she was out supposedly five hours. Dumb, dumb, dumb, )(Case I was referring to was the Paula Sims case)

Thank you for saying what I was thinking about that girl's mother. I think she knows the daughter is fine (a fine piece of work that is) and used the opportunity to get her mug on TV. Britannee Drexel seems like a neat kid; hope she turns up ASAP. The other night there was a report that she had been seen by waitstaff at The Bar Harbor on Sunday with some other girls, but I've never heard if that's been confirmed or if it was the same bunch of girls that she ate with on Saturday. If these sightings can be substantiated, you have to wonder if she hasn't decided just to start a new life. Or something?

I do know that there was a thread on InSessions the day it was first reported, and I tho't there was one here. But after a couple of days the news on it just seemed to dry up. We were left hanging about day 3 or 4 that the mom lied and the baby died. All we had was that mom confessed about lying and led them to the body. Then nothing. Even the locals couldn't find any info. Last week, some folks were hounding reporters in the area, wondering about any further news. It just seemed like this was something that was going to be swept under the rug--but for what reason? Wonder why the story "went away" and how come they decided to start giving info about it again. Just kind of strange, IMO.

Which part--that she said she was hit over the head? I tho't it sounded from the beginning like LE didn't think they were from someone hitting her @ all, and I sure had my doubts about someone being knocked out for 5 hours and even being able to remember she had taken her baby to the park, let alone even remembering she had a baby. The story sounded a tad bit hinky to me from the get-go, but I didn't know if it might have been because most cases these days seem to turn out that the "mom" kills her child(ren.)

Even if she was hiding from Mom, why would she not text or call her friends. These patterns don't usually change unless something is wrong. I see originally they thought the day she was last seen was Sat the 25th and the wait staff says they saw her on Sunday the 26th. I suspect she disappeared after that. NG is saying that LE is investigating whether Stacey's head wounds were self-inflicted. I thought that was the most believable part of her story(s). Not to be a smarty but the moment they said she was knocked out for five hours, I knew it was BS. It is impossible medically to sustain a blow to the head that knocks you out that long and not have severe, almost irreversible brain damage. Her brain would be mush, she would be on life support. What an absurd story. See Paula Sims case! The police must have known that was wrong right away.
