Can I be the foreman? I have control issues.

Pisces doesn't have control issues. Nah. They know they control nothing. Why they are often called "Escape Artists." Do you have a room where you can go hide? I do:biggrin: Then I come back out decompressed and I try to control things all over again. Sometimes it works. ;)

Who's the BOSS? N A W N Y !

aww, but he'll be okay real soon! What a cute little piglet he is!

ok i officially feel just awful! i changed his diaper for the first time since we got back from the docs and it just looks sooooo painful! the only other time in my life i have felt this level of guilt and sympathy and awfulness was when we got our older son circumsized. lol i know he will be just fine, but GOOD LORD i feel like the worlds worst mom for allowing that evil doctor to hurt my baby that way.

they asked me if i wanted to be in the room while it was going on but i thought (wisely imo) that i would just complicate things because i wouldn't be able to handle it, so when they called me in when it was over and he was just screamin his head off i knew i was right to leave the room lol, i probly would have assaulted the doctor hahaha. ok gotta take off again, see yall around

Good Lord I hope he isn't planning the funeral. If he's anything close to normal his life is shipwrecked for good now. I was talking about this with poppa and he said, the guy panicked. He must have been obsessing about the recent break ins in the neighborhood and wanted to play hero. I said, Hello? she wasn't in the bed and he didn't notice she wasn't in the F-bed! He was drunk, blind, and crazy maybe? Good thing she didn't marry him. Ooo, that didn't sound right. Anyway, this is a full definition of horrible. I think I hate that guy.

Sounds more senile to me than anything else. My mother had a hand gun in the house until she started not remembering things. It came home with me one night to get cleaned and didn't go back. She never missed it. If he was so "not with it" that this happened he didn't need a gun. When I get that way, my son has instructions to take mine home with him and "clean" them.

yea he is quite the little soldier, i have to say, even tho his brother was very much calm about the whole thing he was calm about EVERYTHING. Isaac is quite the opposite personality wise from his brother, he is very intense, and yet when i changed that first diaper he did NOT fidget and fuss and cry like i thought he would, he just laid there and stared me dead in the face until i was done, THEN he cried. he is good now tho, sleeping soundly under the influence of tylenol at the moment. hard to imagine but daddy feels ever MORE guilty than i do lol

The funeral mass will be in the same church where they were supposed to be married. Nawny, do you just sense baby pictures being posted? Do you smell them? Because it took you less than 10 seconds to get to it!

LOL! I'm a professional nawny. :) I can feel it yes. Yesterday I was at TJ Maxx and I heard a child crying. I was frozen until I saw where the sound was coming from. I saw the mother carrying the child out of the store. The sound went to my toes. Ooooch! I had to shake it off so I could continue shopping.

While in Vermont and staying at the Swiss Inn, we had the meal plan there. There was a couple with 2 boys around ages 4 and 2. Both of them were so out of control and each meal was permeated with some fancy foot work and loud screams. lol! Those parents never had a moments peace for 3 days. The 2 year old refused to sit still for a minute and kept taking his shirt off. The parents took turns taking him out of the dining room and no one was smiling but me. I wondered why they didn't know how distractable 2 year old kids are.
I wanted to talk to them so bad. They were so friken cute. :)

At one point the 4 year old emptied the sugar all over the floor. Deliberately!
While the mother picked all the packets up, the 2 year old thought it'd be fun to take a run around the table with the basket of napkins and do the same thing. By then the 4 year old took a dive off his chair and screamed to high heaven. I can tell ya who runs their house.. lol! There were other children in that dining room and they were watching all this with wide open eyes, as if to say, wow! The other diners and the wait staff were furious. lol!

Poppa thought those children hated their parents. They sounded like they were being tortured. Their mother looked haggard. But daddy managed to get a run in every day. Funny! He'd return from his run and join them at breakfast. I chuckled at that. lol! Survival of the fittest.

It used to be done in the delivery room. I wonder why they wait so long to circumcise little boys. (?) I even wonder why they do it at all. I hate the whole idea of it. I realize it's done to reduce chances of infection etc, but I still hate it. Poor little angels. :(

Maybe deacon is right. He could be suffering from dementia. OR he wanted to shoot the gun because it was there. Talk about senseless tragedy, damn! I feel so much sympathy for her family, her children, parents, all her friends. What a heinous ripple effect! What a tremendous bent on grief that is. If he loved her more than words can express, he's terminal right now. If he moves on with his life and lives happily ever after, he's got a screw loose.

Friends have told me that the best weddings in the world are Georgian weddings. Not USA Georgia, former USSR Georgia. Lots of food, that's what you get when you roast a couple of sheep. Booze, and not just vodka. Local wine. Lots of very sweet sweets and breakfast with a special wedding soup before you leave in the morning!

I've got to get myself on an invit list to one of these weddings! I really have not been to a good, festive wedding in years. I'm ready to dance the night away.

As I was reading the whole scenario I was thinking about that. My son was done at one day old while we were still in the hospital. I have never heard of anyone having it done later except for religious reasons. It never occurred to me that some places do it differently. I kind of like the in the hospital routine, without me watching or initially totally in charge of caring for him.

My pediatrician is also a personal friend. He's Jewish and did a very nice job.

Baby shots - I have an embarrassing story. I brought my son to the above mentioned pediatrician for his first vaccinations. I watched the shot go into his chubby (He was a big baby) leg and promptly passed flat out on the floor. I have yet to live that down, 20 years later.

Well, my nephs had religious circs, mohel on the 8th day. So any health reason that may or may not be, is irrelevant.

I think if it's gonna be done, it's better it not be done as early as in the delivery room, one wants to make sure the kiddo is healthy before they snip.

I gotta run now, but remind me to tell you about seeing Turkish boys in Istanbul, aged 9ish on their way to and from the circumcision.

It's actually amazingly effective for reducing chances of all sorts of diseases throughout life. 58% reduction in HIV contraction! And a big reduction in chances of spreading things to partners. (Not that anyone I know should be doing anything to get themselves exposed to any STD's! Abstinence! but I'm a mom.) http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/resources/factsheets/circumcision.htm

ok i always wondered why they stopped doing it right away. when i made up my birth plan i used a premade one from a website for pregnancy and it had a spot to check whether or not you want your baby circumsized immediately. i checked the box knowing it wouldn't happen, but it would be so much better if they still did it that way. he is a month old now and it just seems horrible to do that to him after so long. we had to wait because there are only two doctors in this county who perform them and they have to do a consult first so we had to schedule as the doc was available or it would have been done earlier.

I had mine at Kaiser and they can do it right away-big hospital. I guess they have such a plethora of doctors they just do an assembly line. My husband was sent to hover nearby and he said there were like 8 newborn boys in there caterwailing away...

That explains a lot. Same as Bob - big hospital and my pediatric group had a least 4 drs that could do it. I think they just wait for 12-24 hours after birth.

I'm not going to the mass but I know a lot of people who are going so I'll get the details.

Okay! I'm gonna cherry pick a few!

1) name (first, middle, last): Beast of Bears, aka BoB
8) If you could change your profession, what would you change it to? Wastrel Heiress to a gold mining company.
12) Information about children, their occupation: 2. Occupation: being big trouble, but small (does that sound familiar for some reason? Guess not...)
20) Do you have a personal philosophy that can be expressed in a few sentences or less? It's long, but thou shalt not kill and thou shalt not steal are in there...
21) Do you have a political preference? Bull Moose Party, or something else that sounds cool but you don't provide as an option.
and...does your spouse have a different preference? If so, explain: I have not implanted the pod in his brain yet? We are not freakin' clones? I relish the opportunity to cancel out his vote every year and vice versa? I'm right, he's wrong? Wth am I supposed to say to THIS one?!!!
22) Do you have difficulty reading or writing? Yes. My hand is shaking laughing at your stupid questions.
27) What are your hobbies? Going on the internet and discussing the Anthony case. Is...that a problem?
29) What TV shows do you regularly watch? News. From Florida. Lots of it.
34) ...ever been interested in the outcome of a criminal case? Ummm, is there anyone on the planet who has NEVER been interested in the outcome of a criminal case? If one is found, should they be on a jury?
40) What is your personal opinion of the justice system and the way it works? It works?
41) What do you know of the specifics of the case? You need to provide more paper.
42) Have you heard of JB and AL? yes. What have you heard? I need more paper. And a thesaurus to replace some wording.
46) Have you formed an opinion, if so, what is it? Probably, the same as the attorney reading this. Just take a flying guess...

Soooo...think I will get picked?

imo., moo

I just had to bring this back. It was too funny to read just once.

That sounds frighteningly like some family dinners I've had. Christmas '07, oh yeah...*twitch* Except I wasn't a spectator...I was that mom!

Ha!! Little boys love to do that stuff. The ages I mentioned are famous for that wild and crazy behavior. They can't communicate their feelings yet and they are full into narcissistic mode.

One party my oldest had at her house (I think it was Christmas) her little Capricorn was 3. She didn't want all those people in her house and said so. I was flabbergasted! She wobbled over to an old aunt aged 80, and stood in front of her and said, "Get out of my house, go home!" Gotta love honesty. My daughter said, once again, Ma, why didn't you tell me about this stuff? I just smiled and said, "what??, she isn't in the mood for all this intrusion, are you kidding. Children have feelings too ya know.. lol!

So many times I can get what a child is thinking spot on. One time one of her babies was being miserable and we ran the list of reasons with no result until I looked at the tag on the back of her little shirt and it was stiff. I ripped it off the garment and she was fine. Who wants a stiff thing scratching her neck all day while she can't talk? Her poor skin was all read in the area of the tag. Why do manufacturers do that!! :cuss:

Ya know poppa told me this morning that when i got out of bed and it was pitch black in the room, at around 2am he opened one eye and then he couldn't sleep because he was thinking of that stunodd who shot his girlfriend. He couldn't wrap his head around it being an accident. Then he mentioned it tonight when we went shopping. He said, It doesn't work. She was shot in the chest. That means she was walking toward him. If he loved her so much he would know her body language even the move of her shadow.

It used to be done in the delivery room. I wonder why they wait so long to circumcise little boys. (?) I even wonder why they do it at all. I hate the whole idea of it. I realize it's done to reduce chances of infection etc, but I still hate it. Poor little angels. :(

We have always done the circs the day after delivery. Sometimes 2 days after, if there was a c/section. The only time circs are done after dismissal is if the parents had first said no, then changed their minds. Or, occasionally some little fellows just aren't well endowed enough to even consider for a time.

That being said, there is no medical reason for circumcisions. For some years now, the big Pediatric organization (sorry, can't remember American Academy of Pediatrics?) has not recommended about circs either way. No medical reason TO have it done, no medical reason to NOT have it done. Neutral grounds. It's a personal, or in some cases, a religious decision.

Hi !! I was here and working on the plaster dust. I moved it around a lot. When I was done, it moved back where it was. I had the flying Wallendas. We had to get some Halloween stuff. One is a pirate, one is a princess and one is a witch. So we needed black lipstick and pink lipstick and mud. That's very important stuff. They are going to a Halloween party tomorrow afternoon at their (other) granny's house.

Oh, and I did laundry.. I hate laundry! I hope it dies. ;)

Tomorrow I have all five for a sleep over. We're going to make the famous Dom Deluise cake and read Halloween stories while their parents go boogie.

My contractors were very good boys today. There is still more work. They built me a closet made of wood. It's beautiful. The tile guy is still tiling and the painters and the electrician are coming next week. The bedroom is ready for paint and the old radiators will be replaced with baseboard. That's Jeff's job. once the tile is in, the closet for the washer and dryer gets built. Then hook ups for the vanity, tub and washer, then paint, then I take a bath. I know the water with have sheet rock dust in it. White mud!

the doctors told me when i asked to have it done that because the procedure is "purely cosmetic" that we would have to take him to a private doctor to have it done. they gave me two doctors names in my county who will perform them and i had to choose which one. we had to pay 200 cash to have it done because Medi-CAL does not cover cosmetic procedures. so not only did we TAKE our son to have pain inflicted on him, but we PAID the sob to do it lol, how messed up is THAT:eek: he is doing MUCH better now tho, it is healing nicely, the doc looked at it today and said it looks great and should be healed up tight in about a week.

Has anyone else been trying to get swine flu vaccinations? It is frustrating!

Out here, only children 2-10, and people with a less than 6 month baby in the house can get it because of the shortage, and only having flumist. They keep giving dates they will have it for everyone, but then keep putting it off. Right now, no date, just a "early November" estimate. So only 1 of the 4 of us are covered, and he still needs a second dose :(

my doc told me that she would recommend i wait for the shot to be available here so that myself and my older son could get it and possibly my hubby as well, but the baby i was told has to be OVER 6 months for the vaccine. my doc also told me to stay away from the nasal spray because that is a live virus whereas the shot is not.

Got mine this past week, Tues I think. 300 doses to the county, going to health care workers. Started out just the nasal mist, for which I didn't qualify (over 49 y/o.) But by 10 or so, they had 300 doses of the injection, and they had unit clerks calling people to tell them to get down to the site. So, 600 out of 30,000 people did get the H1N1 vaccination or mist. Don't know when they are expecting more.

Hey Nawn, are you snowed under? I'll be there is two weeks. I have to see if I even have closed toed shoes. I don't even have a coat. It's going to be about 77 today. I'm a happy camper. Going shopping today for warm clothes.

Been a little overwhelmed the last few days. Water heater is going, ceiling fan broke, toilet not working properly, air conditioner condenser contact relay is stuck, two trips coming up, tons of work at my job. I decided to just do what I can when I can and it will work out. I have a maintenance guy from work who is coming over Monday to fix the air. Luckily it works, it just doesn't stop. So I have to shut it at the fuse box to keep it from freezing up. Hopefully, Luis can change out the water heater too along with the ceiling fan. Husbands do come in handy so when you don't have one, you need to rent one for a while. ;)

Nah, no snow here. Just a dusting and I missed the whole thing. NO worries about a coat, just grab yourself a poncho. The afternoons are sweater weather. I wore a poncho today and ended up taking it off. Just wore a sweater and a long scarf. I expect some warm weather by the time you get here. It's like that in October. Seems like Indian summer will come. Please let it come. lol!

Yes renting a husband will cost you less. Trust me. :)

Have you ever heard the story of the one horse shay? It was built to perfection and fell apart 100 years later all at once. That's what houses are like. I hate it. If it isn't one thing, its another. :cuss:

Got mine this past week, Tues I think. 300 doses to the county, going to health care workers. Started out just the nasal mist, for which I didn't qualify (over 49 y/o.) But by 10 or so, they had 300 doses of the injection, and they had unit clerks calling people to tell them to get down to the site. So, 600 out of 30,000 people did get the H1N1 vaccination or mist. Don't know when they are expecting more.

I'm glad you got it. I didn't know there was any injectable anywhere yet! I guess there's hope if SOME got out somewhere.

I got to see a big brouhaha while at the clinic with a doctor trying to order an 18 month-old asthmatic get the flumist and the vaccination nurses went to the wall with him. Nurses:1, Doctor:0.

I hear they do not think they have enough. regular flu shots and swine flu

Hey Sara, me too! I'm getting snow tonight. I am hoping it doesn't stick, at all. Monday, when I go back to work, it will start to clear up and maybe get to the 50's. I still have stuff to clean up in the yard and the leaves have not fallen completely yet. Ug. I hate when we get snow so suddenly. I'll be stuck with a mess all winter and spring cleanup is a b*itch.

It's pouring rain now. I'm off to go food shopping. My Sunday early morning ritual.

It's so nice to sit by my kitchen window and watch the rain knock the fall leaves from the trees. :) I love days like this. My house is now vewy vewy quiet.. poppa is sleeping in his favorite red chair and I'm so happy that my weebles spent most of the weekend with us. We baked the Dom Deluise cake, shared chicken soup, apples and cookies. I introduced them to tootsie rolls and we did lots of crafts and they are hanging all over my kitchen.

I had bought a deck of Old Maid cards at the Vermont store and we taught them how to play and also how to make a poker face. LOL! What a competitive bunch those girls are! Brilliant, they all tried to out with the other and we laughed till we cried. One of the weebles that Gator knows cried when she got the Old Maid card. FOWL! I had to console her because she though getting that card was the end of the world. lol! At bedtime We all said a nice prayer thanking God for all the good stuff he gave us for the day. They are so adorable when they repeat each sentence of prayer after me. I love it! :)

This morning I woke up at 6am, made a pile of pancakes then proceeded to make Sunday dinner. Eggplant parm, meatballs and macaroni. While I did that they corralled poppa into playing Old Maid and he was heartless. I hit him on the head with my mopeen. He cheated. Ego's never wane in men no matter how old. He wanted to win! I kicked him out of the kitchen. When he went to watch TV, they all followed him and sat all over him in the red chair.

I had a special wonderful weekend.

Well it was 46 here this morning. I had to go to Lowe's and i was wearing a tee shirt and shorts and was fine. the other people were wearing jackets, sweat suits, scarves, etc.

When it rains it f-ing pours. now i can't find one of my cats - Christian. I've looked for over two hours. I pray that he found a good hiding place in the house and just didn't feel like coming out when i called. I was in and out a lot this morning and I hope he didn't sneak out. I will pray to St. Francis.

I had just finished making a reward poster and had my car keys in hand when I turned around to get my purse and there he was looking at me. I am glad you know where he is. Cats are an independant lot. I think that is why I like them so much. A good yard cat only wants a little food and water from time to time. They can fend for themselves. (and a face scratch from time to time) I still miss mine. I keep catching myself looking out of the window waiting for her to come and get fed and scratched.:(

DS moved into town for a couple of months earlier this year. First he took Kibbles w/him, but Kibbles is an outdoor cat, and he (DS) was afraid the cat would get lost in town. So, he returned Kibble to me (thanks a lot) and took Ghandi, his indoor cat. First Kibble would only come around every couple of days. Then once a week. Then, it seemed no one saw hiim for several weeks, and we were for sure he was gone. Not so. Maybe he was just waiting for DS to return home. Now, he might be around for a couple of days, then gone for a week or so. Maybe only around for one day. He's sure an independent son of a gun!!!!

She died just after this job in NC started. She was like 15 years old. She didn't suffer so that was good. My avatar is the last picture I took of her about a week before she died. She kept me sane a few years ago when my job was downsized and I was out of work for about 4 months. I could talk to her.:)

She sure was pretty. DD got her puppy some years ago, to have someone to talk to. It's for sure, pets are good listeners, don't interupt your talking things out, don't pass judgement on whether you are right or wrong!!!

LOL! I think there is a 5 year old living somewhere inside of me. I love talking to kids. They rock me with their answers. This morning poppa walked by the little table they were sitting at coloring, and he bent down to pick up a crayon. One of the twins (6 years old) looked at him and said, Hey guys look! Poppa's doing gymnastics!!! :)

That's what I want Amy. I want them to have the warm feeling of being loved and having trust in family. In today's' world where traditions seem to be dying and kids are losing that concept of family I need to keep it strong here. I'm hoping they will grow up to be positive that family ties make life safer and happier. They don't' have to walk with all their feet in one shoe, but they do have to have a healthy bond with each other. That's Nawny's law..

When my kids were small I used to say, Stop fighting! You better love each other or I'll break your heads, god dammit!:punch:

I would have to say my best childhood memories was visit with Gran. Her house was somewhat like yours only probably smaller. but it always looked and felt warm. I did not notice it at the time but the memories show it.

Mom's "Mum" (guess that's a northeast title for mom, lol) lived in a trailer behind our house. Daddy's Mom lived in "the little house" across the drive. So, we had Granny and Grandma time every day of our lives. On Saturday afternoons, the grandmas would come to our house for us girls to "curl" their hair. (We didn't have to work for Daddy on Saturdays, because Porter Wagner and the Wilburn Brothers and other good ol' country boys had tv shows on Saturday afternoons.) Granny's snow white hair in curlers and Grandma's gray hair in pin curls. They ate Sunday dinner with us every Sunday, too. With their curled up hair. ;)

How lucky you are. I wish family's would live closer like they used to and spend more time together. My dad's parents were in NY and we were in MI.
I would have loved to curl their hair or run errands or just have them close. I bet dinner was grand.

I hate winter shadydaisy. Cannot move cause DH family is all here. I thought it was warmer than that where you are?

Most of NJ is warmer than where I am. I'm North West - near the Delaware Water Gap/Pocono Mountain Range. I live on the very top of a mountain. It's like my personal piece of hell. It will be drizzling when I get off the exit to go home, 2 1/2 miles up the mountain it starts changing to snow, another 2 1/2 miles up to my house and there is 6 inches accumulated. They laugh at me at work - I take a picture of the snow with my phone and send it to my boss as I'm trying to get in. The office is 25 minutes from my house - South and Central - and way warmer.

I loved reading sam's response to the questionnaire. Wish I could think fast on my feet like that. They say laughter is the best medicine, and I sure got a double dose reading her answers!!!!

Exactly! I have a girl, you'd think she could content herself with that. I swear, we had a full on fight about the haircut I gave him. And it's certainly not buzzed. My hubby saw this picture over my shoulder and it re-inspired him to push to move back east toward his family so our kids can have this...

Awww, that's so nice B! We are so fortunate to be able to share our older years with those kids. They are so much fun! Those party animals. I'm thinking I'll move to Italy when they all reach puberty at the same time. Oh God! I know the ropes :chicken: Poppa and I had our share of deep sorrow and I know love and God's mercy gave these kids to us. Truly. :rose: We're putting a lot of equity in them so they can pick out our nursing home. A room with a view and throw out the key! :-)

If he is really a he, he is simply out "tom catting."

You live on top of a mountain Shady? That sounds wonderful! I think I could do that. I'm packing now. I've never seen that part of NJ. Just Hackensack, Trenton and the Jersey pike. I live in a hole, I tell ya.

I think it was because she was a beautician. She likes his hair long and thick, ut he's not a frickin' Breck Girl. And in any case, he's my son. My hair to cut :flamemad: I told her if she didn't stop it, I would shave it by Wednesday. Then she just fumed silently...thanks for the support. I needed that!

Oh my goodness shadydaisy. that must be surreal. I hope it is nice in the summmer. I have never been on top of a mountain. I am on a sand dune but you would not know it the way the city is built. we have our sidewalks and green lawn with a couple inches of dirt under the grass. Is it ever difficult to breathe outside your house?

It is nice in the summer; it's always 10 degrees cooler at my house than it is at the bottom of the mountain. The way my property is situated I do not have a view - we are on the very top on a flattish part. Across the street people have a view..... not us. Behind us is woods owned by the State and if we could cut the trees we might have a view.

I would love to have sidewalk. Someday I will live where there are sidewalks. Preferably near the beach.

aargh!

My Italian teacher never showed for class and we are having an emergency alert-triggering typhoon out here and my mother wants me to grow my son's hair down to his butt and never cut it.

Typhoon? That is a weather situation I've never had around me. Sounds ominous.

I have always had problems with my mother and my son's hair. He's a swimmer and always wanted it buzzed. When he went to Nationals he would shave it completely. Drove my mother crazy. He's 20, still swimming, and buzzes it himself all the time. My mother still complains.

H1N1 Precautions

STAY HEALTHY EVERYONE!

Dr. Vinay Goyal is an MBBS,DRM,DNB (Intensivist and Thyroid specialist)
having clinical experience of over 20 years. He has worked in institutions
like Hinduja Hospital , Bombay Hospital , Saifee Hospital , Tata Memorial
etc.. Presently, he is heading our Nuclear Medicine Department and Thyroid
clinic at Riddhivinayak Cardiac and Critical Centre, Malad (W). The
following message given by him.

The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global
epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible to avoid coming into contact with H1N1
inspite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so
much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1
infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and
development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not fully
highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced (instead of
focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official
communications).

2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part
of face (unless you want to eat, bathe).

3. *Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't
trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/
nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple
gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has
the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected
one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful
preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with
warm salt water. *Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti
(very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but *blowing the nose
hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm
salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.*

5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C
(Amla and other citrus fruits). *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C
tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. *Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. *Drinking
warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse
direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the
stomach where
they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

I suggest you pass this on to your entire e-list. You never know who
might pay attention to it - and STAY ALIVE because of it.

My ex's uncle was a priest there and I ended up visiting the old goat who was the pastor of a church and principal of a school. It's where I got a first close look at the luxuries the parishioners paid hard earned money for the members of the ultra elite to enjoy. It was a huge shock to my Italian catholic inners. They had more perks than I did and I never took the vow of poverty. SHeesh! But the servants served us prime rib that day. You must have been in the Chambersburg section of town. If you've read any of the Janet Evanovich books (you know One for Money - all the way to 15 or 16 now) they all take place in the Chambersburg section of Trenton. I went to college outside of Trenton and rented a duplex house with a bunch of girls there for two years. On the corner was the Italian Peoples Bakery - where the character in Evanovich's book lost her virginity to Tony.

Very Catholic area and a big church. All the kids went to Catholic School. I've got lots of stories about Chambersburg.

Enjoy your book on the deck!

It's gorgeous out there isn't it? I had an urge to trip the hedges but I changed my mind. Just sitting near the window digesting my no bread lunch. The leaves still haven't turned completely. It looks like paradise out there. I hope the weather stays nice for Gator. She'll be here on Thursday. :)

BBM.

Well, I'll try to tell them that @ work. Being a Catholic institution and all--the powers that be might appreciate my little heathen self knowing such things. Alas, the mantra is--"If you didn't document it, you didn't do it." :D

Daddy used to be the sexton @ the cemetary. Good summer job for us youngen's ;). There was a hedge all along the front of the cemetary--I always tho't it had to be a couple of miles long, but lookin' @ it now, it was probably only 1/2 mile. Great big and full around the water tank, slowly tapering down til @ the last, there wasn't much to trim @ all. I HATED trimming the hedges. No matter how much insect repellant I put on, no matter the type of clothing I had on--I had chigger bites!!!! None of the other kids got chigger bites--why me? (Whine, whine, whine.)

Was going thru some news articles Mom had saved over the years, and there was one that covered that cemetary, and how Daddy had improved it so much. 614 (and THAT is the real number, not just my childhood imagination) evergreen trees that were trimmed by hand every single year. Daddy started out in Feb or so, and when it got spring, us kids were there on Saturdays, then full time in the summer. Then, he finished up in the fall, but by gollies every darn one of those trees got a trim!!!!

Now, the hedge has been removed and there is some company hired to do the trimming of whatever trees they left. I remember having an invention in mind about an automated hedge and tree trimmer. I can't believe that some rocket scientist hasn't already developed my idea--it seems quite simple and doable. Hmmm.....there are those numbers on tv where you call if you have an invention........:chicken::eek:

Hahahaha we have done that too Nawny and the birds and the squirrels will not eat fresh white bread from the store. they do love the corn we leave out for them though. Our yard has looked bad a couple of times with bread laying all over the place.

Beautiful here. I just read on the deck in the sun drinking coffee for a couple of hours. Guess it is time to do housework before DH comes home
(15 minutes) I am off cleaning. :seeya:sara

Cold and rainy here today. Was so nice yesterday (in the 70's) that there was no need for the heater. Even had the ac on in the car.

Remember those birdfeeders that came w/McD's Happy Meals some years back--ok--more then 15--but heck you might have been young enough to actually GET a Happy meal back then, lol.

My advice is--don't take 4 or more and hang them from your fence and windows in the front, then fill them full of birds seed. Nope, not a pretty sight @ all. Bird poop all over the drive way, the side walk, the steps, and even the side of the house. I'm guessing the idea is to set out just one feeder in an area, and maybe only fill it once every couple of days or so? The kids (about 3 and 5) were SO excited about feeding the birds--well, until the aftermath hit the fan. ;)

I'm mad at the squirrels. Last week I made bread bowls for the corn chowder and after pulling out the middles of the round loaves, I threw it out for the squirrels. Yesterday I broke up and threw left over rolls from Sunday out there too. I noticed they never ate my bread, but I just saw a squirrel take off with the bakery bread. Fussy Little basturds. :cuss:

On an up note, DD actually got hired for real today!!!! @ JCPenney. She had been applying everywhere she could think of, and only Target, Sears and Penneys gave her a call back. I guess you apply on line, then if they are interested you go in to finish the application, and get an interview. She got to the interview part @ Target, asked when she could expect a decision and the lady said, they wouldn't be calling her, she (the lady) said she didn't think DD would fit in with them. (WTF?) DD later said it might be because she was telling them how much she enjoyed cashiering and such--when she worked @ WallyWorld!!!! Then, nothing after the Sears interview. A couple of weeks ago, she went in for the JCPenney interview, they just had to do a background check---then nothing. Last night @ 10, I was listening to a few days' worth of answering machine messages, and there was a message for her to call JCPenny, and to come into work today!!!!

Now, the position was unloading trucks, starts @ 6:30 am, and it was too late to call to see when she was to go in. So, she went in @ 6:30 and they told her to wait and come back in @ 10. So, she has been "in training" all day. She gets to watch all those training films--some of which seem to be produced for kindergardners.

She was getting desparate enough she was going to apply @ the beef plant, and whatever company is attached--she thinks they move boxes. I sure hated to see her going there. It seems to be a rough crowd. I know there are plenty of females who work there, I'd just not worry as much if she is in what @ least seems to be a safer environment.

We had gone to the employment office. The lady there seemed to think DD didn't dress up enough for interviews (nice shirt, skirt, dress shoes, hair combed, make up on--and that's not "nice enough" to get a job @ McD's?) Recently I found that she had been putting the local high school as where she got her GED. She got it thru the community college. She says, she didn't go to classes there. Well, she didn't go to classes @ the highschool, either. She went to classes @ a work program. The point was, the documentation was thru the college, and if they checked w/the high school, they would think she was lying about having a GED.

Last week, found out that the diversion the kids are on (for DV against each other) IS on their records. The city attorney, when he presented them w/diversion, made it sound like, if they successfully completed diversion, this wouldn't go on their record--and it wouldn't be on there WHILE they were on diversion--only if they screwed up. So, even tho DD got this job, off to the employment office we go to find out how to properly fill out an application where potential employers won't just toss the apps when they get to that portion. I told the lady @ the city, and the one @ the attorney's office--so, essentially my kids have been lying on their applications for the past year, based on what they were told by the attorney? Seems the lady @ the city has just recently found out that this info is indeed on their records. Seems that, after 3 years, they can go to court to petition it to be expunged. Would have been cheaper to let them sit in jail for the few weeks, it seems the outcome is pretty much the same.

Yeah I sort of want to sculpt them, but at the bottom. The old vintage look is bare branches on the bottom maybe a thrid of the way up.. They twist all thru the hedge. So I'd have to snip away the green and let the branches underneath the crown show. You know what I mean? I'll get some pictures and show you.

They do get in the engines of cars when it's cold. Poppa had a squirrel war going on a few years back when they ate the wiring in the cabana we had on our last property. He was wild! He had to replace all of it and they also made nests in our umbrella's because we stored them in there. When I opened them in summer, they had holes in them and all kinds of stuff fell out. They are rotten little things. Glad they were comfortable, the little bushy tailed rats.

where IS everybody today???

Not that I have anything to say...

Working my rear end off. We have been having a safety audit by a team of 8 people from the customer's corporate safety department. I have only had one "finding" but is caused some problems. It was one of our subcontractors who were not wearing respirators where they should have been. I dislike that sub anyway because they don't give a flip about their employees. If it were up to me they wouldn't be on this job anymore. I stopped work as soon as I found out about it and told them not to come back until these guys were trained and fit tested so they could wear what they needed to wear. Dorks.

That was Monday. Since then the General Contractor has been under a microscope because of some of the things they have found. So far they have dropped a pair of pliers about 30 feet to another level, dropped three hammers multiple levels and today they dropped a piece of metal grating that weighed about 150 lbs about 90 feet bouncing off of structure several times. It landed about 50 feet laterally from where it started. My one finding doesn't look so bad now. There were more "white hats" (management) at the incident site than I have ever seen in one place. Some from the General Contractor and some from the customer. I bet they have one heck of a safety meeting in the morning. Glad my guys are not working in that area. Someone could have been killed easily with either the hammers or the grating. Scary, really scary. And "not so smart."

Last year I was sitting in a deer stand looking at nothing because the deer must have known I was coming and sort of lost my concentration. 25' in the air on a beautiful day with not worries. No phone, nobody wanting anything, nothing. I sort of come to myself and there, about 3 feet from me is a squirrel sitting on the limb next to the tree stand looking at me. Little critter. It was like he was laughing at me. He sat there for about 2 minutes and then took off down the tree. I think he ran and told "everybody" I was up there.

If its any consolation on that, I've worked a couple of nice places that always talked it over with the person if they had a record of some kind, didn't just toss them on sight...the key was taking responsibility. What is so pathetic is that neither group is right. The correct answer is never found at an extreme. It is always in the middle. Sad thing is each group continues to stretch their actions and thoughts further to the extremes each and every day. And we continue to elect them. That is the really sad part.

Question:

How can you tell if a politician is not telling the truth?

Answer:

Their mouth is moving.

'Let me explain the problem science has with religion.'

The atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his new students to stand.

'You're a Christian, aren't you, son?'

'Yes sir,' the student says.

'So you believe in God?'

'Absolutely. '

'Is God good?'
'Sure! God's good.'

'Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?'

'Yes'

'Are you good or evil?'

'The Bible says I'm evil.'

The professor grins knowingly.. 'Aha! The Bible! He considers for a moment. 'Here's one for you. Let's say there's a sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you try?'

'Yes sir, I would.'

'So you're good...!'

'I wouldn't say that.'

'But why not say that? You'd help a sick and maimed person if you could. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn't.'

The student does not answer, so the professor continues. 'He doesn't, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him. How is this Jesus good? Can you answer that one?'

The student remains silent. 'No, you can't, can you?' the professor says. He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax. 'Let's start again, young fella. Is God good?'

'Er..yes,' the student says.

'Is Satan good?'

The student doesn't hesitate on this one. 'No.'

'Then where does Satan come from?'

The student falters. 'From God'

'That's right. God made Satan, didn't he? Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?'

'Yes, sir..'

'Evil's everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything, correct?'

'Yes'

'So who created evil?' The professor continued, 'If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil.'

Again, the student has no answer. 'Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things, do they exist in this world?'

The student squirms on his feet. 'Yes.'

'So who created them?'

The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his question. 'Who created them?' There is still no answer. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class is mesmerized. 'Tell me,' he continues onto another student. 'Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?'

The student's voice betrays him and cracks. 'Yes, professor, I do.'

The old man stops pacing. 'Science says you have five senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever seen Jesus?'

'No sir.. I've never seen Him..'

'Then tell us if you've ever heard your Jesus?'

'No, sir, I have not..'

deacon
10-21-2009, 09:53 PM
'Have you ever felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt your Jesus? Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus Christ, or God for that matter?'

'No, sir, I'm afraid I haven't.'

'Yet you still believe in him?'

'Yes'
'According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn't exist... What do you say to that, son?'

'Nothing,' the student replies.. 'I only have my faith.'

'Yes, faith,' the professor repeats. 'And that is the problem science has with God.. There is no evidence, only faith.'

The student stands quietly for a moment, before asking a question of His own. 'Professor, is there such thing as heat? '

' Yes.

'And is there such a thing as cold?'

'Yes, son, there's cold too.'

'No sir, there isn't.'

The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested. The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain. 'You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, unlimited heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat, but we don't have anything called 'cold'. We can hit d own to 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold; otherwise we would be able to go colder than the lowest -458 degrees. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the total absence of heat. You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.'

Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom, sounding like a hammer.

'What about darkness, professor. Is there such a thing as darkness?'

'Yes,' the professor replies without hesitation.. 'What is night if it isn't darkness?'

'You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? That's the meaning we use to define the word. In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?'

The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him. This will be a good semester. 'So what point are you making, young man?'

'Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed.'

The professor's face cannot hide his surprise this time. 'Flawed? Can you explain how?'

'You are working on the premise of duality,' the student explains.. 'You argue that there is life and then there's death; a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought.' 'It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it.' 'Now tell me, professor.. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?'

'If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes, of course I do.'

'Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?'

The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed..

'Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a preacher?'

The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the commotion has subsided. 'To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, let me give you an example of what I mean.' The student looks around the room. 'Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor's brain?' The class breaks out into laughter. 'Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor's brain, felt the professor's brain, touched or smelt the professor's brain? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, with all due respect, sir.' 'So if science says you have no brain, how can we trust your lectures, sir?'

Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the student, his face unreadable. Finally, after what seems an eternity, the old man answers. 'I Guess you'll have to take them on faith.'

'Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith exists with life,' the student continues. 'Now, sir, is there such a thing as evil?' Now uncertain, the professor responds, 'Of course, there is. We see it Everyday. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in The multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.'

To this the student replied, 'Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.'

The professor sat down.

Ah philosophy. My favorite one is "I think, therefore I have a headache."

You should get a kick out of this.

LOL deacon you just never know do you? You may be right

Thank you Deacon! I've seen that one but it was good to read it again. It helped me understand the story of Somer. I was so sad about it last night and I confess, I questioned God for a few seconds. :( And I also confess, I have a few more questions for Albert.

I love Albert Einstein.
