that is so wrong Nawny. she should hbe been at home and hospice could come in and help. I would love to have you as my sister. We took care of my dad at home which were his wishes. He never had to go to a hospital thank goodness. I really think dying wishes should be honored if possible. IMO

Thank you sara.. I'd love to be your sister. :)

We did have her at home for a while but it was impossible after the stroke. She had to be carried. I took care of my FIL until a few days before he died of Pancreatic cancer. It was hard, but it was better than seeing him go through the system. Terminally ill patients in nursing homes should be illegal. My sister's general care was done by the family for the most part. She was so scared, we couldn't leave her alone. After her stroke she was so confused and helpless she didn't seem to care about anything, but she was able to smile. I'm a clown and she always smiled at me. SOmetimes I look up at the sky and I swear I can still see her smiling. :rose:

I'd better go keep poppa comany in the den. NG is on.. groan...

BTW, they atarted the work on the back rooms yesterday. The room where the bathroom is going, is already gutted. They blocked up one window and the door to the outside is going to be blocked up tomorrow. I made calzones for the crew today. I'm brown nosing them to get them to hurry up. ;) I'm looking forward to the whirlpool air tub. It has colored lights in it. Its one of those Living Series. I'm so excited. lol!

Pretty soon I will have a laundry room on this floor so I can ignore laundry closer to my kitchen, lap top and stove.

Yes, it is sick and twisted but no more sick and twisted than when a father does the same thing to his daughter. The crime is the same and the punishment should be the same.:flamemad:

Thank you for that Deacon.

I've seen old medical/psychology/psychiatry books at work where they insist that mothers who rape their sons are worse than men who rape their daughters.

Me, I think that is a lot of shyte. Both are wrong and evil in exactly the same degree.

If anything, raping a daughter is worse, because of the possiblity of pregnancy.

Congressman says some people aren't worth peeing on
Posted: September 15th, 2009 03:56 PM ET

Pete Stark is involved in his own classic YouTube moment.
(CNN) — Rep. Barney Frank, D-Massachusetts, raised eyebrows last month when he told a constituent at a raucous health care town hall event, "Trying to have a conversation with you would be like arguing with a dining room table."

Now Rep. Pete Stark, D-California, is involved in a similar instant YouTube classic, telling a town-hall participant over the weekend that he wouldn't "waste the urine" to pee on the man's leg.

First reported by the San Francisco Chronicle and confirmed by a YouTube clip of the event, the longtime congressman made the remark after the participant launched into a long, but calm, litany about government inefficiency when it comes to nation's health care system. The man concluded his remarks with warning Stark not to "pee on my leg and tell me it's raining."

As the audience cheered, a calm Stark responded: "Well, I wouldn't dignify you by peeing on your leg. It wouldn't be worth wasting the urine."

There was a mixture of laughter and boos as Stark motioned for the next question.

You know how it is when you're taking care of someone you love who is terminally ill sara. It makes you think of how you want things to go when, or if it happens to you, doesn't it? I'm not sure what I want. I Know it's a lot for loved ones to do, so I often think I'd want them to put me in a hospital and throw away the key to my room. Other times I know the good feelings I had for loving a sick relative and making them comfortable. There is something about it, ya know? I mean there is almost no choice to make. It kinda comes naturally and I suppose it should. However difficult.

I'm soooo jealous! I really want to gut my bathroom and start over from the studs. We've done basic upgrades, but it really needs a total overhaul. Love the tubs with the whirpools built in.

I've been improvising for so many years, I don't' know what to do with choices. I think I'll always be in survival mode. I'm keeping the bathroom simple. It was once the part of the house that was used for an office, so it's big. But I'm having him put a laundry area that can be hidden with doors, so the bathroom won't be so big. And I'll most likely keep those doors shut until the laundry overflows and opens them.

My SIL is a master plumber, so I got lucky there. The contracting work is being done by a hired contractor who is excellent at his craft. So I got lucky there too. My SIL talked me out of the whirlpool type tub that uses water jets. He said they are problematic and told us to get an air tub.

This air tub isn't very pretty actually. It's full of holes. Big ones, small ones but still full of hole. Like liar's stories. ;-)

Funny you just posted this. DH and I were just talking about him spending time with his dad as he is dying. He wants to drive his dad around old spots they used to hang out together for good memories near the house but is afraid something might happen to his dad and he has no medical skills. I told him If I am ever dying you better make sure I am home. And if I want to go see the beach you take me. And if my time comes and I am at the beach so be it.......... I know there would be problems with some people due to IV's and oxygen tanks but it can be done with enough help. Hospice would help with that also I am sure..................sara

The funny thing about "political" people is that they do not want to understand that the correct answer is at neither end of the spectrum. It is somewhere in the middle. The only thing plain about both sides of the aisle is that they protect people with money and none of them is honest. I guess that is why so many of them are lawyers. As for Dianne Feinstein, she's been around forever here. I will never forget her making the announcement that Mayor Moscone and Harvey Milk had been murdered in City Hall. She became mayor after that, a very good mayor. Just little things showed her personal integrity for me: refusing to be placed at the front of the hospital line when she broke her arm in China, performing cpr on a guy in a restaurant, and keeping going even when he vomited on her, politely asking us not to throw eggs at the Russkies in the SF consulate after they shot down the Korean airliner (I ditched high school for that one! We have Barney Frank in our neighboring state of Ma. He calls people Dinning room tables. Wanna trade? Diane Feinstein: I could like her. She' sounds like a real person. Politics is something like that theory of relativity. If we keep going in a straight line, we'll end up exactly where we started. Nowhere?

So many, now dead and buried, have fought for the right causes. They got nowhere too. I used to get involved in politics and I learned to take charge of my own little world because it is the only place I can be in charge. After I read Man's Search for Meaning, I knew government wasn't going to change. I also realised what we can be/what is possible, on an individual level.

Somewhere in my 30's I decided to stop believing politicians. The idea of hero worship just doesn't occur to me anymore. Unless there is a situation where people are helping people (as in the case of 911) I'm not into pedestal construction. I was raised Catholic. That's what convinced me.

I always feel for the young voters now, when they get all excited about some politician. Obama is the most recent. But I used to get all excited, too. And they all let me down. I know I'm jaded, but it's not pessimism if it's true...

My only heroes are dead, because the living will always come up with something to disappoint. Mother Teresa, for example: we know she's not going to run off with a priest or something, so she is now "safe" to admire! That's one thing I hope to teach my kids, don't idolize. Respect, yes, but know that everyone is human, and accept their faults when they happen. Because they WILL happen.

Lemme think. I want to give one for Israel, and one for the USA.

Please do!

I am torn between Grace Asuncion and Jenny Lin, two local cases. Grace was viciously stabbed in Eshleman Hall on campus, never solved.

But I think I would go for Jenny Lin. 15 years ago, 14-year-old Jenny was in her home, talking with a friend on the phone. Within an hour, her father came home to find her stabbed to death in the bathroom. Not raped, just stabbed. She was a talented violinist and her parent's only child. They put up billboards advertising a $100,000 reward to this day, so we see her all the time, and they hold vigils every year. The police and the FBI reportedly found no evidence at all. It's just a total mystery.

Wanted to "rep" you for that, but can't :( -- I got spread my repping out a little more. Same here. Netanyahu robs from the middle class to give to the rich. And to the fundamentalist poor, but that's another story...

That seems to be the portion of society that is left out the most and are paying most of the bills. The thing I can not figure out is why we continue to send the same "not so smart" people to Washington to make decisions.

I finished my yellow umbrella painting.. I think. I got so lost in the lavender flowers I started seeing everything lavender. I get to over painting at times, but I think it's done. I started the shell painting yesterday and it's all wrong. I can't tell which are oysters and which are clam shells. I'm doing that painting for a friend of my sister. She thinks I'm an artist. I try.

Couldn't have said it better BoB. Indeed, those who followed Jim Jones learned. I won't even let the weebles hero worship me. I tell them when they apologize for spilling something, or breaking something. "Nawny makes lots of mistakes, lots of times." I want them to know that, because it's true. And they love me anyway. :)

I get a great kick out of them when they parrot me. Last week, the daddy of two of them got into trouble with the boss for coming home late. He had some plumbing work to do for a friend from the old days. (When he was single) They ended up talking longer than he had expected and over a few beers, they forgot the time. My DD was openly pissed off when he called, after missing supper. When her 2 weebs 5 and 4 asked her why she was mad at daddy, she explained that he disappointed her. When he got home they were in the tub and the older one said, "Daddy you made a big mistake tonight!" ;)

My DD asked him if he was suicidal, since it was PMS week. He laughed at that remark. Mistake number 2~ ;)

Oh well, if not for those mistakes we would be perfect. How boring is that?

Okay, for the USA, this one (found on Wikipedia):

Marion - I couldn't get your link to work -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boy_in_the_Box_(Philadelphia) This makes my area newspaper every other year or so. As far as I know, nothing has ever really been resolved and doesn't seem likely to happen.

Philly and parts of South Jersey had a lot of abandoned kids prior to law changes. People just sort of gave them away - as strange as that may sound. Unwed mothers and families with too many children to feed often gave their children to a group call Catholic Charities. I had a great aunt to who worked for them. She was not comfortable with some of the dealings that went on.

Tried opening my link after posting and it won't work either. It did before. Anyway, if interested, go to wiki and find it.

If you could make a wish and solve one "cold case" that you know of, what would it be? And if its not famous, fill us in...

Ethan Patz. Six year old boy in NY walking to school by himself for the first time, disappeared. His mother watched him from the window turn the corner where the school was and he never made it about 30 years ago. I'd like to give his parents peace.

Thanks deacon. First thing i did was get out my peanuts and look for my fav chipmunk chipper. He never came :( I did have 4-5 others who became regulars tho. Little guy i was able to get to the point of hand feeding. Still not my chipper who would hop up in my lap and let me pet him. I did spend time playing referee tho when big guy chipmunk would come along and try to chase off the littler ones when i was feeding them. I did laugh my azz off tho when he was tearing across the deck full tilt chasing off little guy. He ran smack into the wooden plantar. Hit his head and the sound was quite loud but didn't seem to faze him.

What a sad event at work today. One of my boss' managers was walking into the building at 7 am through the front entrance. He heard a loud thud behind him and turned to see what it was. Another guy, 39 years old, just dropped dead. The manager saw someone else walking and screamed for him to get security. They had the defib machine and zapped him four times before getting his heart beating again. He had a heart attack. He had a history of high blood pressure but he is also Muslim. It's Ramadan right now and they don't eat or drink while the sun is up fpr about 30 days. Even when they do finally eat or drink, it's very light. He probably threw his potassium off. No word yet on his status. I'm glad I'm Italian, I rather die from eatting too much than not at all.

I pray he recovers. I'll let you know when I hear something.

WOW! I'd rather eat too than go near doctors. Hey Jo I have to share this Colonoscopy thingy you sent me today. I'm still laughing. I think laughter is better than any pill! I have to post this ROTFLMAO! I've been laughing all day. I have never laughed so hard, I still got tears in my eyes!! Thanks for the comic relief! LOL!LOL!LOL!!!!

************************************************** *******

ABOUT THE WRITER Dave Barry is a Pulitzer Prize-winning humor columnist for the Miami Herald.

Colonoscopy Journal:

I called my friend Andy Sable, a gastroenterologist, to make an appointment for a colonoscopy.

A few days later, in his office, Andy showed me a color diagram of the colon, a lengthy organ that appears to go all over the place, at one point passing briefly through Minneapolis.

Then Andy explained the colonoscopy procedure to me in a thorough, reassuring and patient manner.I nodded thoughtfully, but I didn't really hear anything he said, because my brain was shrieking, 'HE'S GOING TO STICK A TUBE 17,000 FEET UP YOUR BEHIND!'

I left Andy's office with some written instructions, and a prescription for a product called 'MoviPrep,' which comes in a box large enough to hold a microwave oven. I will discuss MoviPrep in detail later; for now suffice it to say that we must never allow it to fall into the hands of America 's enemies.

I spent the next several days productively sitting around being nervous. Then, on the day before my colonoscopy, I began my preparation. In accordance with my instructions, I didn't eat any solid food that day; all I had was chicken broth, which is basically water, only with less flavor.

Then, in the evening, I took the MoviPrep. You mix two packets of powder together in a one-liter plastic jug, then you fill it with lukewarm water. (For those unfamiliar with the metric system, a liter is about 32 gallons). Then you have to drink the whole jug. This takes about an hour, because MoviPrep tastes - and here I am being kind - like a mixture ofgoat spit and urinal cleanser, with just a hint of lemon.

The instructions for MoviPrep, clearly written by somebody with a great sense of humor, state that after you drink it, 'a loose, watery bowel movement may result.'

This is kind of like saying that after you jump off your roof, you may experience contact with the ground. MoviPrep is a nuclear laxative. I don't want to be too graphic, here, but, have you ever seen a space-shuttle launch? This is pretty much the MoviPrep experience, with you as the shuttle. There are times when you wish the commode had a seat belt. You spend several hours pretty much confined to the bathroom, spurting violently. You eliminate everything. And then, when you figure you must be totally empty, you have to drink another liter of MoviPrep, at which point, as far as I can tell, your bowels travel into the future and start eliminating food that you have not even eaten yet.

After an action-packed evening, I finally got to sleep. The next morning my wife drove me to the clinic. I was very nervous. Not only was I worried about the procedure, but I had been experiencing occasional return bouts of MoviPrep spurtage. I was thinking, 'What if I spurt on Andy?' How do you apologize to a friend for something like that? Flowers would not be enough.

At the clinic I had to sign many forms acknowledging that I understood and totally agreed with whatever the heck the forms said. Then they led me to a room full of other colonoscopy people, where I went inside a little curtained space and took off my clothes and put on one of those hospital garments designed by sadist perverts, the kind that, when you put it on, makes you feel even more naked than when you are actually naked..Then a nurse named Eddie put a little needle in a vein in my left hand. Ordinarily I would have fainted, but Eddie was very good, and I was already lying down. Eddie also told me that some people put vodka in their MoviPrep. At first I was ticked off that I hadn't thought of this, but then I pondered what would happen if you got yourself too tipsy to make it to the bathroom, so you were staggering around in full Fire Hose Mode. You would have no choice but to burn your house.

When everything was ready, Eddie wheeled me into the procedure room, where Andy was waiting with a nurse and an anesthesiologist. I did not see the 17,000-foot tube, but I knew Andy had it hidden around there somewhere. I was seriously nervous at this point.

Andy had me roll over on my left side, and the anesthesiologist began hooking something up to the needle in my hand.

There was music playing in the room, and I realized that the song was 'Dancing Queen' by ABBA. I remarked to Andy that, of all the songs that could be playing during this particular procedure, 'Dancing Queen' had to be the least appropriate.'You want me to turn it up?' said Andy, from somewhere behind me.'Ha ha,' I said. And then it was time, the moment I had been dreading for more than a decade. If you are squeamish, prepare yourself, because I am going to tell you, in explicit detail, exactly what it was like. I have no idea. Really. I slept through it. One moment, ABBA was yelling 'Dancing Queen, feel the beat of the tambourine,' and the next moment, I was back in the other room, waking up in a very mellow mood.

Andy was looking down at me and asking me how I felt. I felt excellent. I felt even more excellent when Andy told me that It was all over, and that my colon had passed with flying colors. I have never been prouder of an internal organ.

On the subject of Colonoscopies... Colonoscopies are no joke, but these comments during the exam were quite humorous..... A physician claimed that the following are actual comments made by his patients (predominately male) while he was performing their colonoscopies:1. 'Take it easy, Doc. You're boldly going where no man has gone before!'
2. 'Find Amelia Earhart yet?'
3. 'Can you hear me NOW?'
4. 'Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?'
5. 'You know, in Arkansas , we're now legally married.'
6. 'Any sign of the trapped miners, Chief?'
7. 'You put your left hand in, you take your left hand out...'
8. 'Hey! Now I know how a Muppet feels!'
9. 'If your hand doesn't fit, you must quit!'
10. 'Hey Doc, let me know if you find my dignity.'
11. 'You used to be an executive at Enron, didn't you?'
12. 'God, now I know why I am not gay.'
And the best one of all: 13. 'Could you write a note for my wife saying that my head is not up there?'

It's amazing people can just disappear.

Sometimes they do. As in the case of the little girl who died in a fire in a circus tent, in CT(?) in 1950-something. Many, many years later they did identify her. Ironic thing is -- and a lesson to parents who don't believe their children -- at identification at the time her bro insisted that the body was that of his sister -- but the parents said it wasn't that of their daughter.

As for how easy it is for people/bodies to disappear, it really isn't that hard to get rid of a body. It's a good thing I'm not a bad person. Here it's very hard for living people to disappear if they want to stay in the system, because one needs their government ID (as in many European countries) to do anything.

Well, at the Iftar (breakfast meal) it starts light. Which is a healthy way to break a fast, but later one eats regularly, though some people do gorge, esp. at the final meal before sunrise.

But it is difficult esp. when Ramadan falls in the summer. Longer day, hotter weather. And, as you notice, you work. It's not like a one day, albeit 26 hour fast that my coreligionists do on Yom Kippur -- no working, sitting in an airconditioned synagogue and praying.

Some of the caregivers in the place where my mother is are Moslems -- I really admire their stamina during the fast.

WHat's your take on the Yale case. That guy Clark looks like a choir boy. WTH? I haven't seen anything news worthy so far on him, except that he was seen on video holding his head in his hands. His head was wired badly it seems.

There has to be something underlying what they told so far. On the question of what their relationship was, the spokesperson for LE said, No comment. My minds goes to the fact that she was getting married that day and he had a problem with that (?) Why "No comment?" If there was nothing, he'd say so right? I hate when they say no comment to a direct question. No answer, is an answer.

They didn't offer the best of pictures, did they? So based on a picture with no scale and not totally clear...

Okay, imo...the radius is the wrong proportion, too thick, and doesn't seem to have the right "twist". The metacarpals, same thing...and look too long compared to the "finger" bones. Those two things jump out right away. The proportions just seem very off. So, I would go with not human. I don't have fauna expertise, so beyond that

I can see why this generated excitement, though! I would screech to a halt on the road if I saw this!

Good for them Gator-kudos. I am glad he is still with us but wow an induced coma? We had an incident also at work just prior to me leaving for vac. I was not there but a great co-worker was. A 29 year old male (co-worker) was suffering from chest pain and started with breathing difficulties. Did not want her to call the ambulance as he said he wanted to walk it off!!! She did anyways and he had a collapsed lung. They have no idea why it happened. I was at a work function tonight with my folks and got the chance to talk to him. I was relieved thats for sure to see he was ok. He told me he thought for sure he was having a heart attack.

I don't know if this helps, but Science Diet has both a chicken and rice and lamb and rice version. Sometimes the lamb is milder for some dogs.

I have Ollie concern. I went to the website of the folks we got him from to look at "family" pictures and there was an announcement that his daddy had died, no illness, just found dead in the barn at 6 years old. RIP Rockey.

RIP Ollie.. that's concerning yep.

The vet has True eating boiled rice and ground beef. Last time it was Boiled rice and chicken. He recovered well from the first bout with this and has been weened to organic dog food. He's been going non stop hourly for 2 days.. starting at 3am. My DD is telling me she's been sleep deprived for 4 years. I told her that's impossible, she'd be dead. ;) She said she died somewhere along the line and she's not really here.

She started having children in her late 30's. Partied out, did the White Water Raft thing, chased Jimmy Buffet around, saw lots of the world. I guess she thought motherhood was the thing to do at that point.. IMO 30's is elderly. Was at her college graduation in my late 30's. LOL! It's so strange to me seeing a 41 year old with two little children. Now she's boiling rice and ground beef for her dog too with no sleep. :D

But like my mother said, "It's a wheel that turns. One mother can take care of many people, but many people cannot take care of one mother."
And I learned why my mother laughed at me.

Yeah, I know the feeling, even when it's me. I was required to go to the "1 year old" class at Kaiser this week. It was just me and the 16 year-old mom. A bigger waste of my time I have rarely encountered. Not only am I too old for that bs, I'm not even a first time mom. I think I know how to switch my daughter from a bottle to a sippy cup, for heaven's sake. what a load.

I feel for her with the doggy runs. Sleep deprivation is a foul thing. I sure hope they come up with something to solve it soon.

ROTFL!!! A 16 year old mom these days can barely get out of her own way. They need classes to learn how to wipe their azz. I pray the newest generation is being taught more than that. I have hope but I'm worried about the challenges today's mothers face.

At first I was concerned when both daughters and my son enrolled the weebles in gymnastics, soccer, Tee Ball, Dance, Jump Rope competition, Singing, piano. I thought it was crazy, really. Too much, I said! I can't even keep up with going to the games, recitals, gatherings etc.. It's nuts, I thought. I asked what the point of getting them involved with these kinds of curricular was? My youngest said, "Ma, the alternative is allowing them to play video games at home and some kids are using blackberries at age 8." I said, WTH is a blackberry..? I keep calling them strawberries..

I took the 3 oldest weebs to gymnastics last night and watched them endure a grueling first hour.. I was impressed! The 6 year old twinnies blew me away with their agility and ability to follow instructions. That put my heart to peace and fed my hope with happiness. (I was calling them the Flying Welenda's since they were 2 and man was I right. WOW!)

I'm still working on the jump rope competitions that force my son and his wife to get on planes. The international meet was in Texas this year.. Disney last year! It's nuts! IMO its big business. And still it was incredible to watch! Some of those Asian kids jump rope so fast you can't see their feet move. I don't totally understand it..

But, what ever it takes to keep the kids safe and busy.. it's all good. These new babies are more than brilliant. They could take care of that sippy cup issue at age 3.

God love them all! :)

I hear ya-they really developed his character and as i have said before some of the best lines/scenes are House and Wilson. Thats my only luxury too with missing it due to work. No commercials. Apparently it is running 2 hours and 1 minute. Enjoy and let me know what ya think. I think alot of it will be funny but treated with dignity. The show is a great contributor to Mental Illness charity wise.

I really hate when these shows go over the allotted time. I can't tell you how many times I have missed the last 2 minutes of a show because of this. I rarely watch anything live. Now I have to remember to tivo the next show, so I can have the end of House.

There's one channel (it might be USA network?, but its not one I watch often so I'm not sure) that now starts all its shows at 5 after the hour. I guess their theory is, you are less likely to switch to another channel if the other shows are already in progress. Stupid psychological tricks!

I get the psychology of it, but in this day and age so many of us just tivo and watch stuff when we can (usually when I'm ironing). If I have another show set to tivo right after it just changes channels on its own. Well, even if I don't the tivo stops when the show was supposed to end.

I guess that's enough of my rant.....

big brother is ecstatic! all he wants to do is help with everything there is to do for baby brother. he calls him HIS baby lol he is going back to day care today, he took the week off to bond, but he is super excited to go back and tell all his friends about his new baby. i have so much reading to catch up on here lol, luckily Isaac is mostly a good baby, as long as he sun is up hahahaha. thanks for the well wishes and congrats everyone, and i am working on figuring out how to put a pic in a post so maybe i can show off a little more hahahaha

HI Jlette. I am so glad everything is going so well! Big brothers are so cute.

If you go to tinypic.com, they have the instructions on how to upload pictures from your computer to their site, and then you just copy and paste the code that will appear when it is done uploading. Did that make sense? I haven't had coffee yet. How come there's no snoozing smiley?

Wow! All bad stuff there. The price of fame, aye? I wonder why people who have managed to get to the top, some after struggling so hard to become famous, end up needing to mind alter. Why? I don't understand it. Makes me wonder even more, if becoming immortal (sort of) is painfully disappointing. I think those who still have their not so famous lives are better off. I appreciate my freedoms to come and go as I please. I guess they don't have those rights. Must give um up for fame. Fame kills if it isn't handled well, ie MJ and so many others. Sad.

That was huge for House-usually he just engages prostitutes. I thought last night we would finally get to hear him play piano-usually just a bit of tinkering. Again just a tease. Very accomplished pianist and musician. Eton and Cambridge educated and not a hint of that British accent. His father was a Dr. so i guess he kinda sorta followed in his footsteps.

Yep I did too .. she had to have zero coping skills and I guess she found the only way out. her death was sort of logical. She couldn't have escaped that life as it was, and the new baby would have suffered if she didn't. Somewhere under all that mess was a heart, I think. She reminded me of Norma Jean. Same mess. Niether one of them had much worldly experience after puberty. Same kind of men in her life and same -candle in the wind- of a lifestyle. But MM had no kids. :( I'm not 100% sure MM killed her self. But, it's still for sure that her choices had something to do with her death.

It's too bad she didn't keep working at the Burger Heaven, find a nice oil worker, set up house in a doublewide, have 4 or 5 kids. How much is money or fame worth when you have no joy?

Ding, ding, ding the lady wins the big teddy bear!!!!

They think it is all about the money. They think that money and fame will make them happy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Donald Trump was once asked how much money would be enough. He said "there is never enough. I always want one more dollar."

It ain't all about money. Money does not bring children into the world and love them with all of its heart. Money does not make your wife/husband faithful. Money does not protect you from people who would hurt you. In fact, money brings people into your life that WANT to hurt you to get the money.

Yep, I agree BoB! She was a wasted life. Greed can kill, that's a reality. I always refer to the guy who started the U-Haul empire. IIRC, He was a poor slug who rented his pull wagon to people who were moving, and he had a nice family. Before too long he was a millionaire and one of his own sons murdered him because he disowned him. Effing MONEY! I will miss Dominic Dunn. :( He knew the score on that stuff.

I'm always on the fence with MM. She was involved with the Kennedy Brothers... I don't know how true it is, but one special on her case more than intimated that they were involved with her death. So was Peter Lawford. It was reported that Bobby was the last person she spoke too and she supposedly threatened to reveal her diary if he didn't get John to call her back that night. Someone mentioned they were at her house the night she died, probably looking for that diary to destroy it.

Who knows what lurks.. She's in peace now. :rose:

Yep Shady it is a different spin off from the original L&O. I like that one too but not enjoying the addition of Jeff Goldblum to the cast. I really like the pairing of Aames and oh gawd forgot his name? Whats his name took awhile to grow on me. Once i understood his character i stopped trying to finish his sentences for him. LOL

Reminder for those that watch L&O SVU tonight ( I understand it was on last night as well) Season opener and followed by Criminal Minds. Does it get any better than that

I never could get into Law and Order. Don't know why. Criminal minds, YES!
Isn't Lie to Me on tonight?

There are bill boards all over the state advertizing Dexter. I hate Dexter.. but I watch it anyway. It's the strangest thing. Who ever wrote that stuff, needs to be watched, I tell ya.

Ah yes, I do remember.. I know most people are hooked on it.. But. I'll give it a go. Lie to Me is great, I love that one and I also love In Treatment. It's not the program where they get people sober, or whatever. It's about a shrink who has a revolving Treatment session with certain people and he gets all involved with their lives (emotionally) I love his questions and style. I want to hire him to treat me. ;)

Yeah, TREAT THIS Bub! LOL!

I have never seen Dexter - some of my friends have tried to encourage me to whatch it my intimating that I am like the lead character.

Not sure if that is possible. I did spend 13 years working in a forensic laboratory, and I am currently a CSI, but I cannot recall committing any crimes during that period.

Bit strange, but I am not partial to blood and gore in movies - it is getting more and more realistic and brings back memories of crime scenes friom may years ago.

Ironically, I had a flash back to a major crime series I was involved in twenty five years ago today whilst at work. I popped onto the internet and discovered that the offender (who had been sentenced to six life sentences and 20 plus years for other related crimes) was released four years ago.

I came over all weird and my stomach cramped up (that has never happened before) - here am I, still a young (relatively) man, still working at fighting crime, still recalling crimes I helped to solve, and the authorities have let this man go. He never showed any remorse for his horrific crimes when he was caught and sentenced.

Hopefully he has been rehabilitated, seen the error of his ways, and is leading a fruitful life and benefitting society. I hope I can think he has, just to keep my sanity.

Lie to me, is great Bree, because in it's storyline there are clues to how to recognize a lie. I found it interesting that the main character did not want the part, and ended up being great in the role. I love when they put the person in question up on the screen and analyse the body language.

lol - I would hate to go to prison - well I do go sometimes as we have a prison half a mile from my police station, and when crimes get committed there we have to go investigate.

They lock down the prisoners when we go in and we have to leave all our private articles in lockers before entering but there is still a strange aura about the place.

 So, it's a half a mile away from your police station? That's good. At least it's close,ya know. And you go to the prison to investigate when crimes are committed there? Hmmm. What kind of crimes are committed in prisons? Is it sort of like when the Count of Montecristo dug his ass out of his cell? Like that? Anyway I thought Alexander Dumas made that up.

We get suicides where we have to check they are actual suicides, drug dealing, murders (and suspicious deaths.

Is it a County/State/Federal facility? Why don't they use their own Internal Affairs Dept?

I think they deal with their own minor crimes, they have a Police prison liason officer who exhibits their samples and sends them to a forensics laboratory for analysis.

HMP Peterborough is a local category B prison which is situated on the former site of the Baker Perkins engineering works. The prison is operated by Kalyx under a 25 year contract to the Home Office.

I think a Martini should be a Martini as Mr. Martini (yeah, there as a Mr. Martini) invented it. You wanna make a drink with chocolate, call it something else. I am very conservative about traditional names of food and drink.

You think they were not originally lost/buried during the old wars? I have this vision that they buried them to save them from the enemy and no one lived to retrieve them. I mean are you saying they buried them more recently than the 18th century? Anyway I'm glad a poor soul found the hoard. I'm surprised the owner of the property is sharing the find. The man who found them was trespassing. But  This land my house is on and the house is historic and I have a metal detector. Maybe I should scout around here. lol! No, I think it was buried in the 7th century or so. Things there were pretty brutal then. The Romans had left a vacuum.

I read the owner gave the guy permission to look, and it's a 50/50 split. The government there has a good system to prevent looting, finds have to be reported to the government. The government sells the items and the finders get the money. Keeps thing going to museums where they should be instead of the interational antiquities trade, or horrors, melted down.

Roman Empire, but then, I think, the Holy Roman Empire collapsed in the late 5th century. Leading to the Dark Ages for give or take 200 years.

Arthur, according to Mary Zimmer Bradley's telling of the tale, managed to stave off the Dark Ages for a generation.

He was really happy with how it went. He does a lot of half IronMan's but this was his first real IronMan. He thought it would take him 12 hours but it *only* took him 11 hours. There were around 2500 entries and he finished in the top 200. He's been swimming and biking on the National level for years - running is not his thing. If they could do away with the 26 mile run he would be extremely happy.

I bet it was pretty small, like a hole was dug and stuff was in a bag (which of course is gone by now.) There was a largish gold cross that had been folded up to make it smaller, so concealment was definitely important. (If you ever get the chance to touch things before the officials get there, gold honestly won't suffer much, but never touch bronze! There is actually something called "bronze disease" from skin oil. Note: I am not recommending touching anything, just...you know...)

I worked a site in Israel where this woman was crushed by a collapsing wall and near her hand was a little pile of jewelry and whatnots. But mixed in were the remnants of the clasp from her purse, so it made sense. So she ran into a collapsing building to rescue her purse. Let that be a lesson to us all! Some things never change...

From what I heard and read, the 2 part tv movie made of it was a total mutilation (vile screenplay), despite some really good actors.

Greeeeed.. one of the 7 deadlies. That never changes.

Wouldn't it make sense that if there was all that gold and silver, there would be more in the area. And can it be possible that the earth changed or shifted, and that might not have been where it was originally buried? One more question; Can it be that it was buried much deeper and the erosion could be the reason that hoard was actually so close to the surface? If I'm all wet, I'll sit down now. Just wondering. :o I know less than nothing about these matters.

I'll keep the touch warnings in mind, thanks BoB. I'm so tactile. I touch everything. (Except dirty old men;) I kick them in the knees.
