I wasn't worth a crap for a month after my friend died. BUT, I did everything I could. Every mall I walk into I look for those things on the wall just in case. If a person can be helped, I'll help. Pretty simple, really it is. It will tell you what to do. All you have to do is hook it up.

That again, is my pet peeve about the way the world has become lately. It's a mess! What's happening in our culture? No one seems to be alert, efficient, awake! (Not all, but most) Ten leaners to every one lifter and folks like you and poppa and the few who are showing up for life every day have to deal with the leaners.. it's anger making stuff. So when the nurse goes on vacation, people die. Amazing! grrr....

I hate excercise.. it's boring.
I start my guts and butts/cardio blast workout on Wednesday. I did orientation today. Instructor said we would take some days slow by running the stadium steps to alternate with the tough workouts. And yes, there are defibrillators in the room! well, one.

Yeah, I was shown how to use one. If more people were aware that they are so simple to use, and how to spot them...there should be PSA's on tv about this! Why are there not?!

They simply didn't do the training. They, management, doesn't care. All the HR manager, if you can call him that, was worried about was whether it was work related or not. That was the first thing he asked when I got back from the hospital. I wanted to slap the taste out of his mouth.
Yes, I eat hotdogs and hamburgers. Just not too many of them. Lean hamburgers. I only eat greasy ones once in a while. The walking I do isn't really exercise, it is part of the job. Walking doing safety audits. I really like that part of the job. Talking to people and walking to the next place. Making sure people are not doing anything stupid. The part I don't like is when they do something stupid and get hurt and I have to put them back together or take them to the dr. And then the paperwork.

Ooo that sounds like fun! I believe I could do a lot of exercise in a group. Though when I put my mind to it, and really decide to lose weight, I do. I use food... or lack of it.
When I was in Florida last week my silly sisters wanted to make home made macaroni and took out the macaroni machine which requires some strength. I was the only one who could turn the handle and they said, "Oh you're so strong!" Then I realised my arms are strong from picking up kids. I got muscles! ;) But I still need to lose 15 pounds.

I found that true in the north east, but I've been to other states, especially south where they were much more caring. Here, they'd walk over you to cross the sidewalk. More in NYC. I was surprised the first time I was down south and strangers said hello. Honestly!

Note the title. I came home when they laid me off and told my wife I was relieved that I didn't have to go to work there anymore. That was a relatively easy office job with an audit thrown in twice a week and I would rather do what I do now. The man I work for now is very, very rich but places a great deal of value in ALL of his people.

I wish I knew that answer BoB. When I see anyone in a struggle or injured or even in a wheelchair, my legs get a buzz. I want to do something for them. I've always been that way. It's a physical feeling in my legs, as if I could feel their pain. I think I was crippled in my last life.

Ha Ha. Some of my airforce friends can not believe we still stop for funerals out of respect. And that the police stand at attention at the street corner while the hearse and family car go by and salute. Unfortunately we still have people who do not care. I know, I worked for one.

You're taking an Italian class? I can teach you all the cuss words :)
Not to worry you will work again.. actually it will be a vacation after taking care of kids and a house and a husband. My Daughters thought they were going to stop living when they had their kids. I offered to take care of them so they could get back in the mainstream and they had a lot fewer meltdowns. It's been 6 years now and they are both calling work a vacation. Problem is, they come home to face housework, cooking, cleaning and the rest.. It may be a woman's world lately but the dirty work remains. Fortunately they have great husband's.
I don't have the weebles every day anymore.. Just a few days a week because 3 are in school and the 2 younger ones are in preschool 2 days. I miss them so much! Tomorrow is weeble day and they're coming wednesday and thursday this week. We have such fun I will be miserable when they go to school all day.

Yep, Italian. It's by immersion. The class is packed with kids. I'm hoping some will drop, like the ones who keep yelling "oh, crap!" every time the instructor speaks Italian. Hello? It's an Italian class. And then there are the others who keep whispering in Spanish, translating to themselves, totally screwing me up as I try to learn the Italian. Too much English, too much Spanish. aaargh! I'm sick and cranky.
I'm sorry you're seeing less of the weebles. I largely take classes so my mom has an excuse to come down to take care of the kids, though she doesn't know that (I pay for her gas and car insurance which she couldn't afford otherwise) As for men and housework, if we weren't around, they would happily live on a diet of Doritos and green beans while wallowing in their own cess. imo.

You must not be watching enough tv, or maybe not the right channels. Doncha know that, if you had bought Rosettastone, you already would be speaking Italian and maybe even Spanish by now!!! The lady on the radio say, you can be speaking your new language in 10 minutes!!!!
I've tho't about it. Just so I can figure out what folks are saying and call them on it, lol!!! Hey, I guess those who don't speak English could do the same---surely there is a CD for learning English!!! We were asked one time about when we were going to take the classes for medical people to learn Spanish. My response was, I'd be glad to go, and probably would when the emphasis would be on having those who don't speak English to also go to class.

LOL! Poppa has been serving the Spanish community for many years, and never learned to speak their language. They get along fine. He's old school and his (and my) parents had to figure out how to understand English so he figures they will learn too. It's too funny when he's speaking to a non English speaking customer. He talks louder and uses a lot of hand signals and we laugh our heads off. As if louder is clearer??? Even the clients laugh. He's so funny! But our son talks Spanish so if it gets too nuts, he rescues poppa. He just went off to work with a Hawaiian shirt and cargo shorts.. I told him he looks like a runaway tablecloth! Ewww. It's 92 degrees this morning and he doesn't care how he looks. Good grief!

Automated external defibrulator. It is an automated form of what EMT's use to get the heart beating correctly. They are in most large malls and cop cars and fire trucks now. It is a part of CPR training now. The person at the plant died because no one knew where it was or how to use it. The nurse was on vacation and no one else knew where to find it or how to use it.
I had to use it once on a friend of mine there. I increases your chance of surviving a heart stoppage by 50%. It didn't work in my friends case. The dr. at the emergency room came out and told me that if he would have been in the er when it happened they would not have been able to do anything. The heart attack was that bad. It may no have helped the other person either but we will never know.
Oh, and I eat things like peanut butter sandwiches, hamburgers, hotdogs, you know, the good stuff. it is the exercise. The last site was 7 floors. Up and down all day. This one is a big hill and a large distance between things. Walk, walk, walk.
Very sorry about your friend.

When some of the older Danes come-pretty much no English. Youngers and middle age come-speak very good English. It's taught in the schools. When hubby and family came over in 57 on the Stockholm not one of em spoke English. DH was just a wee thing but he does still speak fluent Danish. He taught me all the good words :D

Hey guys, check out this silly, imo, lawsuit: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/18/liskula-cohen-ex-model-wi_n_261847.html
A model is trying to sue a blogger who called her a "skank". This suit was to identify the blogger so the blogger could be sued. Now its time for the main suit.
I ask you, how could someone win suing another for referring to them as a "skank"? If they said "prostitute", that I could see, as that is defined as someone who accepts goods or services in exchange for a sex act. But a "skank" is open to many definitions. My definition of "skank" might be someone who goes to second base on a first date, while another person's def might be going all the way, you know? How can a slang word be taken as anything but an opinion? I predict a jury will feel the same way, unless there's more to this not being reported.

If not for the winters I would have loved Wisconsin. It is a beautiful place during the summer, not so much in the winter. I loved it up there in the summer. I would come out of the hotel in the morning and there would be deer in the field behind the hotel. In the winter, only snow and ice.

If not for the winters I would have loved Wisconsin. It is a beautiful place during the summer, not so much in the winter. I loved it up there in the summer. I would come out of the hotel in the morning and there would be deer in the field behind the hotel. In the winter, only snow and ice.
I hear that deacon! It is much the same here. Beautiful summers... Spring and fall also. But this is a shot of our winter mornings. We can't get down the driveway or up it until poppa clears the way. Bless you southerners! No wonder they lost the war. ;) No muscle. Then Wisconsinites weren't involved in the war, were they?:chicken:

Haaa! Very true! This state has a crew of plowers that can't get out of their own way. The worst! In New Hampshire they are professionals. Every truck has two plows, one for the side and one on the front. They are fantastic! They also have tin roofs on many homes and the snow slides off. Well, they're in the mountains after all, but boy is NH a beautiful place. I love it ...the covered bridges and the lakes. All of it is beautiful, but cold, very cold.

Just wanted to let you all know that my husbands laptop became infected with the conficker worm. 138 viruses and it disabled Norton and his ability to connect to the internet. He claims he doesn't know how he got it, but I'm certain it was from something his mother forwarded to him. $200 later and he has his laptop back - be careful and don't open anything, even from trusted friends.

hello all! :seeya: just letting yall know i have not popped yet, although i have officially 30 days left tomorrow:eek:. going in for the Group B strep test tomorrow afternoon. you are all too kind on your weight guesses, i have a feeling with my luck and family history this one will be at least 8 if not heavier, my first was 8lbs1oz and 21 inches long.
My 8 lbs 3 ounce guess is seeming feasible. A more tolerable number than your MIL's babies sizes!
Ya have to watch those forwarded emails. I do my best to stay away from them. I think that is what killed my wife's last one. Nasty stuff
Since I'm in an office with all these high security/high tech people this is the one bit of info they cannot stress enough for personal computers. You know how you get forwarded emails pages of To: ____ ? - very bad. Something happens in the cyper world that tracks this kind of email and it tags along for the ride, infecting everyone. bcc is best when sending to a lot of people.
So, you hit forward, highlight the other stuff, delete it, and then it's ok. If someone frequently sends you a lot of stuff with a lot of garbage attached - just don't open it and tell them why. Besides, it's not proper etiquette to include other people's info on an email to people they don't know unless you want them to have the info, or you want everyone to know who you sent it to - like family stuff/party plans.
There is also a program called Fix-It that repairs registry errors on your PC. A great tool - I clean my home computer once a week with it. I was amazed how many errors there were on it the first time I cleaned it.
Public service announcement ending now.....

Thanks Bree. Yes often the promo for a book is better than the book. My curiosity was peaked only because the killer was 12 years old and it sounded like mind blowing stuff.
When I'm curious about a book, the first thing I do is go to Amazon.com, find the book, then read the reviews. There is a whole society of people who are passionate about posting reviews. Some have hundreds and when you click their name you can read them all. Some are rotten sows and love to give one star and they fight with each other. Anyway you can save yourself a bad read by going there. The good reviews give hints as to the nature of the story and the writer. Try it... if you haven't already. :seeya:

Yes and she gets the best mental health care available. The province can recover 100,000 a year from the federal goverment for her treatment:shrug: She gets the term Conduct Disorder. It's a blanket term for socio's who happen to be children. I cant technically call her a socio till she is 18 with a fully developed brain. Oh goody cant wait:rolleyes: We will never know the full extent of her mental health issues as application to view by media has been denied by the judge. Hope all her treatment helps since she will be out in a few. I guess for me what i would like to explore is her life down the road. Interesting tho when they carried out the murder there was no plan. I just don't believe in compassionate release for murderers. They offered none to their victims. I think it is the difference in philosophy between "prison for rehabilitation and to protect the public", and "prison for punishment and to protect the public."
Maybe he's not a threat anymore. I don't care. He should still be in prison and go home the same way his victims did, in a box, as one spouse of a victim said.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing myself. The male/female line is definitely blurry.
I just got back from taking DD to college. Luckily we were first in line. It was such a mess. All the freshman are packed into two buildings - side by side - 10 stories high. You can imagine the line for registration/keys and then the elevator. Yes, one elevator per building. DD is on the first floor but we couldn't get to her room easily because of the traffic jam in the lobby.
AND she is in a room with 3 other girls that is not a traditional quad room. It was the first floor lounge that they converted into a room because they ran out of freshman dorms. So, each girl gets a corner of the room. My DD took the back corner (that's why we got there so early and waited for them to open up). The last arriving girls ended up where the "kitchen area" was when it was a lounge.

How are ya holding up Shady? Yes that sure sounds like close quarters. One of our son's went thru that as well. Good thing she can get off campus next year. It really is a learning curve. Well, I guess we know who will be getting the "freshman 15", hahhahaha!
I never did the dorm thing. Stayed home until grad school and then got an apartment. Much of that decision was based on seeing what my friends in dorms went through! Does your daughter's dorm have co-ed bathrooms? I was horrified when I first saw THAT!

No word from OS yet. Someone said a bit ago she was having puter probs too. Lets hope she is back soon. We are taking bets on baby weight with J. Any guess's sara?
how about 8.12 Beemer. it is good to be back. getting a new puter and setting it up these days takes forever it seems. to fix the old one I had to wait 2 weeks for the recovery disk to get here. that is why I gave up and bought this one. And of course last winter I had to send it to Texas and I was gone for 2 MONTHES. I am being so very careful LOL. the time I have spent on 800's to Taiwan,India and Texas was more than aggravating.:cuss:
Ahh thanks for letting me vent. sara:)

Hi Sara! I saw the computers on sale here at BJ's. Remember I got a new one in April.. I love when they're new. Fun! I've had a few lol! But Nawnys shouldn't have computers.. so say my kids. I wreck them fast. Yesterday I burned over 1000 pictures to a CD to clean it up. I'm already seeing mine drag. I dont have Norton anymore I have Mcafree. What ever that is. Have fun and welcome back!
Nawny...if you did not have a computer we would miss you too much. You know more about puters than I do. A lot people use Norton and it is updated and I know a lot of people use McAfee. I do not know about either one. All I know is I let mine lapse and was so infected I needed more than your average antibiotic. I am having a great time now. the lap top is just beautiful and I am getting used to it. nice pix of poppa. my dh got caught grilling in a foot of snow and freezing. no one believed me so I had to take a picture. LOL sara

How are ya holding up Shady? Yes that sure sounds like close quarters. One of our son's went thru that as well. Good thing she can get off campus next year. It really is a learning curve. So it sounds pretty open concept? Yikes Up here they have move in times and they adhere to it. So busy but organized. Other Son considered an International student so gets to move in bout a week ahead. It is crazy moving day.
Honestly I have a lot that needs catching up on at home. I'm taking over the family room and making it mine!!! Hubby claimed the sun room years ago and that was supposed to be mine. I need a place to do stuff and not have to worry about it getting in everyone else's way.
I'll miss her horribly next week when it hits me I won't see her for awhile.
You're a good mom, trudging the trudge with her!
She does not have co-ed bathrooms. I suffered through that when I went to college. They got rid of that when I was a senior and no longer living on campus. I was totally shocked - I had no brothers - the guys I dated seemed so normal - and then I had to live with these guys that were worse than 2 year olds. It was certainly a well rounded education.

It does get easier as time marches on and march on it does. Before ya know it it will all feel normal. Mr. beemer and i get excited bout the small things when the boy's are back in school. Roasts that last for several days. Eating in front of the tv at 8p.m. if we feel like it. Washing loads are small and not so frequent. I do remember tho when our first born left for school i cried a year before but by the time school got close she was so ready to spread her wings and fly. So we are almost there. Two more years and they are all done school

I hear ya. I really feel for the victim's families it must just bring it all home again. I was beyond angry to begin with but when i saw him walk up the plane steps :cuss::flamemad: If he is walking he is talking. In my imaginary mind i had visions of the crew parachuting out and a very slow spiraling decent of that plane nose down into the ground :flamemad:
I was so angry when I saw him walk on the plane. but when I found out he had cancer i understood. My dad had the same cancer and when he was diagnosed at 3 months to live he could walk too. He could not chew, was in constant pain and with not enough oxygen to the brain he seemed like he had altzheimers but did not. I think UK is trying to keep relations good with Libya. I also think the release is for his family so they can say their final goodbyes. Please do not get me wrong and I am not defending him. He will be laying down real soon. he may not even be aware he is free. I had to stay with my dad just to keep him grounded mentally. I think what he did to his victims families is atrocious. I know if I was an ambulance driver responding I would have been affected severly the rest of my life. IMO sara

Thanks, he's very kind too. He is getting married in October to a woman who was a State Attorney and prosecuted dirtbags. He has good taste.
He spent his teen years basically living at the beach - surfing. he is a very strong swimmer and during is second week as a firefighter a call came in about multiple drownings due to riptides. He drove his truck right onto the beach, jumped out and while running, pilled off his clothes and jumped into the water. He pulled out two children and their father. The man could not be resusitated, but the two children were. How would you like to see that guy with muscles ontop of muscles, running in his skivies into the water? I think he wears a swim suit under his uniform. :D He was on the tv news and received a commendationm - after two weeks! He absolutely loves his job.

Awwww, and for sure my heart goes out to the poor wee soul---NOT!!!!!
in the same prison as notorious murderers including Charles Manson and Sirhan Sirhan. And, so he is not a "notorious murderer?" Now, Charlie might have a few under his belt (whether he did the actual deed or not) but I do believe that Sirhan Sirhan is pretty much on an even keep w/Spector. The only person I ever heard about him killing was RFK. Sirhan Sirhan being notorious for WHO he killed, Spector being notorious for who HE is. IMO
He said he is working with his attorneys “to get a better prison with people more like myself in it during the appeal process instead of all these lowlife scumbags, gangsters and Manson types....They’d kill you here for a 39-cent bag of soup!”
I guess he doesn't understand he is already with "people more like" himself--you know, murderers. What does he think? He should get to sit next to Madoff? OTOH, perhaps Madoff should be sitting w/Spector--I am sure there are folks whose lives ended after Madoff screwed them over. Like Charlie, maybe he didn't pull the trigger or stab w/the knife, but he is the murderer just the same. IMO
My nephew Adam trying to save a drowning victim was in the newspaper for the fourth time. He is the one performing CPR. He has gorgeous dark hair and has shaved his head since his mid-teens years. Was also in a calendar of firefighters for an animal shelter rescue organization.

Plan of escape that is. They never think past 10 min. thank gawd. In Liar's case her story sounds like something she came up with in 10 minutes.
Yikes! So what's the skinny on the 23 year old high school drop out boy friend? Was he in on the murder? I saw a couple of blurbs about his mommy saying he was a nice boy. Was the 12 year old the master mind? Yes I too would like to see her in a few years.
http://cfnews13.com/News/Local/2009/8/20/nejame_miller_reveal_all_in_anthony_case.html
Oh, for Pete's sake!!!! What bad timing? When is a good time? Why is now a bad time? It's not like there is anything going on in the case that this will affect. It's not even like anything is seen, except that the area was under water, just like Tim Miller has said over and over.
I guess the A's must be chomping @ the bit to be in a bad light in the news again. They were tame little kitties for the state depo. Meds must have worn off?
The writer of this article must be rather new to the Caylee Anthony case? S/he says "this is not the first time" NeJames and Miller have teamed up, then go into the Haleigh case. Well, dear writer, NeJames and Miller teamed up in the Anthony case quite some time before they teamed up for the Haleigh case. :punch:
Any judge that rules in the defense favor of releasing volunteers' name and information should be booted off the bench. The volunteers have nothing to do with anything. They weren't where Caylee was found. Take the pics Tim Miller has offered. Question Tim Miller and whomever works w/him (as supervisors of volunteers, as it were) but leave the volunteers alone!!!!

Hello Everyone! I've been off the board for about a week. My youngest son, Adam, was hospitalized suddenly on Tues. for acute renal failure. We still don't know what has caused damage to his kidneys but Dr.s suspect undiagnosed and untreated Strep infection. Adam is a very athletic, healthy young man of 21. We were baffled why he would have serious kidney problems so suddenly. The good news is, he is improving and will be released tomorrow as long as the nephrologist says he can go home. So, just a word of warning to those who may suspect Strep. but aren't sure. Get a Strep. test anyway. Good to be back. I've missed the lively conversations here and I've got a lot of catching up to do with what's going in with the Ants.

I called I think, Compaq help line maybe a couple of years ago. Now, I hate to call Denver for the hot line @ work. I don't know where the person I was talking to was--could have been next door, or in whatever country. However, I was probably more frustrated @ trying to understand the tech than I was @ the problem I called about!!! COME ON!!!!!
Around here, WE have to have interpreters for whatever non-English speaking persons show up. If there isn't someone local who can interpret, we have the "blue phones" where you select a language and speak to the patient and interpreter in a 3 way call.
So, it seems that if I call Compaq IS, and speak English, they would connect me to an ENGLISH SPEAKING TECH!!!! Then, those who speak other languages can speak w/techs who speak that particular language. Oh, wait!!! That would be too damn logical now, wouldn't it? Let's not get carried away by bringing logic and common sense into the picture!!!:flamemad::flamemad::flamemad: Well, I guess the techs have to practice their English skills on someone, might as well be the computer-illiterate as anyone!!!

I think there was discussions something like this when whichever of Charlie Manson's followers was wanting a "compassionate" release because of whatever ailed her. One argument was about letting her family be with her in her final days (altho she was having her "final days" the year before, also.) Come to find out, she was in a hospital where hubby and brother and even friends were able to visit her much more easily than if she was still in the prison itself. I wonder, did the murderers think that the families of their victims did not have the chance to say their final good byes to their loved ones, either. I do feel sorry for the families of the murderers. But I don't think that sympathy, compassion, for them should get the murderers off sooner.
P.S. I am sorry about what your dad had to go thru, and you also. Its' even worse (IMO) when it happens to good people.

Yikes! So what's the skinny on the 23 year old high school drop out boy friend? Was he in on the murder? I saw a couple of blurbs about his mommy saying he was a nice boy. Was the 12 year old the master mind? Yes I too would like to see her in a few years.
Yep they were both there. He offed the parents and she took care of her little brother. She claims he did the brother. Blood patterns match up to his story-not hers. Mommy might not remember much in her alcohol driven haze.

See ya soon!

My sister is in somewhat denial and copes with alcohol. I've been making weekly visits there just to let HIM know that I'm available to talk. They live about an hr. away. I have been encouraging hospice but they've resisted so far. Dr.'s have to make orders and are willing but my sis is in denial. Makes me somewhat angry with her but oh, well. Out of my control. We've always had spiders because our house backs to a lake. We just had the roof replaced so I'm wondering if it had something to do with that???
Treatment options appear to be sketchy. The last 6 pics on page 2 look a lot like my bites - although they seem to increase in size as time goes on, more like the last pic.
Warning, it's kind of gross...

Oh Dear Snoop. If you have that many i would get them looked at. I have only ever had one and i did not know what it was. I know i put i think it was Bactroban on the red hot around it and it took it away. I showed my Doc when i happened to be in a few weeks later. He said it was a spider bite and the way to tell was by the hole. Pop a Benadryl and apply cold to the red part and see if that eases it. If not i would be getting looked at. Let us know.

I'm glad your son is strong and his body (bless youth) is finding the path back to good health. Whew!
Stay focused honey. You're attitude is great. You've seemed to find acceptance and that is key in your BIL's situation. My sister was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer also, and she was given a month of less last year at this time. She lived another year. With the help of Hospice, she managed to stay comfortable. I cannot say enough good things about Hospice. They will do everything possible for the family and for the patient. If there is home care , they will even come to your house and stay with the patient so you can get out and run errands, or just go be alone for a while. They are very special people and the standards for them to be employed by Hospice are very high.
I have sat at meeting held to talk about my sister's care. The services they offer are less frightening than the sound of the word Hospice which doesn't necessarily define death. They are absolutely wonderful. They can get the patient anything he wants, from a Turkey dinner to a shower chair. I saw this with my own eyes. If the patient opts to go into a 24 hour care Hospice facility, they end up in the most comfortable surroundings I've ever seen. Like a first rate hotel. They do not let the patient suffer for a moment. There are angels among us, I've met them. I hope your sister gets out of denial and begins to accept and prepare. In the meantime keep pushing Hospice, she will find them a huge help.
The year is almost over honey.. hold on and know how strong you are!
Nothing stays the same, the scenery changes eventually and the sun always comes out again. We always arrive when our tears dry.

I have 12 (holes) right now. Several others have healed but it took months. I go to the doctor next week - I'll have him take a look. No one else in my family has suffered from this but I remember when I lived in the midwest the mosquito's always loved me - I'd get eaten alive no matter how many precautions I took. It's your good Karma attracting them:beer: Begger's tho. Wow thats alot. yes mine took months as well to heal. Do you have any antibiotic ointment? Bactroban or Fucidin are good ones. If it is an inflammation reaction the ice and benadryl will help. Good Luck. If you have done some work on your house yes disturbing it can bring out the creepy crawlies. Maybe consider having it sprayed for spiders?

I lost my Father-in-law and sister-in-law within a 3 month period of time. Both diagnosed with terminal cancer on the same day. It's devastating and very tough but through the grace of god we got through it. Having supportive friends and family certainly helps. Thanks for the hugs, Nawners. I needed them! Yes, this year has been awful. Adam is on the mend but must be seen by nephrologist Tues. I've also been dealing with my sister and her husband. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer 1 yr. ago. He has taken a rapid decline in the past month. He is now at end stages and nothing they can do for him but make him comfortable. I feel horrible for my sister since we lost our dad to suicide and know she's losing her husband in the same year. Tough stuff for any family. But people get thru it all the time.
Everyone here has been so caring it melts my heart. Thanks to all.

Drew that is so very intense and sad what you are all going through. I am not sure how I would handle it. please push hospice. Mom refused but when my dad and brother came close to dying hospice came and were like angels I swear. they took so much care of every little thing or big thing and helped out with family in many ways. It would be so good for everyone involved. I am sorry. IMO sara

Sorry Snoop i just read your post regarding allergy to antibiotics. I think ya best see a Doc but in the meantime try the ice and benadryl.
Taking a benadryl and calling it a night - thanks for the advice. :seeya:
the roof may be the culprit like you said. Mosquitos love me too and my bites swell up but I get rid of them. have you changed any perfume or smell? sometimes that will cause it...........sara
No changes other than the new roof - I'm certain it stirred up a nest or two. We really do need to get the house sprayed inside and out. Our bushes and patio furniture are always covered in thick cobwebbs - not a good thing. We clean it off and about an hour or so later they are covered again. I should take a picture and post for you to see....

Hello my honey's!! :seeya:
I wound up not being able to get on before we went on vacation to say bye..., after we came home, and weren't even home but a few days and got 'the dreaded 2:00 am telephone call' regarding my MIL...she was rushed to the hospital, and died shortly after getting there. (Aug. 7th) Geez, ever think of someone you know who would outlast Everyone?? That was her! It was very unexpected and my husband and 2 sister in law's and (my two girls) are devastated. It happened in MD, so I had to quickly take care of all the arrangements here..my 2 SIL's were thankfully there with her.
It's been a messed up couple of weeks since. I felt like I haven't been on here for Ages, and it says I last logged on 7-15....as beem would say..Lordy!! The few times I had a few minutes to get on and chat, I was so mentally shot that I just said 'maybe tommorrow' and, well....you know how that goes. It has taken about a week to catch up on home and sleep..it probably will be a couple more before I'm back in the groove. Too much!
Missed our fun loving banter so much, and could have used some of what we do here (vent, whine, b*tch, moan, groan)! LOLOL
What a great bunch you all are ~ absence makes the heart grow fonder..for sure! More about that stuff later...so much has gone on here too, with you all and in the News even more so...my heart has been broken a thousand times, one damn thing after another. WTH is wrong with these people? Our world is going to u-know-what. :(

See ya soon!

I did review G on the stand yesterday. G states Padilla's staff acted as security after Liar was bonded out. SA goes on to discuss bail posting. G states he had discussion with Padilla's staff but really didn't know where the $ eventually came from :mad::cuss::flamemad: Oh well he is setting himself up for a really hard fall. Maybe he wont even see that clearly when it happens. Spindy's post court interview-she is on the same page. They looked like groupies in that courtroom trying to get the attention of a rock star. The fact that she does not even acknowledge her parents hurts her in my opine. I'm glad to see tho her coldness shine thru :D Would a juror not wonder why is she so angry with her parents who continue to support her. I am happy to see that the flirting in math class antics are done between Liar and Bozo. No more coy looks and smiles Bozo's way. Is she mad at him too now? Seems she hates anybody who steals her limelight. Nice to see she can still manipulate Mommy and Daddy without even opening her mouth. Especially G and the beat goes on...........

Now that she's a 23 year old woman who looks 35, Bozo is not so interested. I was embarrassed for G. If he testifies the same way during the trial, the jury will not believe him, he tells "mistruths" with a bold voice and arrogant way and then gets pinned to the wall and tells the truth in a meek, ashamed voice. Like i said, if I were questioning him I would have asked: why - if he was so worried about his safety was he and his wife constantly outside confronting the protestors instead of staying within the safety of his home?

Haaaa and maybe reality hit-bozo told her he would not be meeting her on that Miami beach;) I know when G gets defensive it is embarassing. It's like Spindy is in his head telling him to grow a backbone. That is an excellent point gator on the safety issue. Anyone here ever dealt with spider bites? The kind that leave holes in your body? I look like someone took a bb gun to my arm, legs and chest. WTH?
do you happen to know what kind of spider bit you? that sounds like either a brown recluse aka fiddleback. they have venom that eats away at your flesh and can get quite nasty. if it doesn't get better after using some antibiotic ointment i would consider going to see a doctor, some people have allergies to those spiders that make the venom even worse and you can end up with severe scarring. hope this helps :)

Ugg! I've heard spider bites are very likely to get infected (tht's why they thought my mastoiditis was one), you might want to go in if it doesn't go away...but a place to start is neosporin and cortisone if it is itching or swelling.

I have 12 (holes) right now. Several others have healed but it took months. I go to the doctor next week - I'll have him take a look. No one else in my family has suffered from this but I remember when I lived in the midwest the mosquito's always loved me - I'd get eaten alive no matter how many precautions I took. It's just weird that I'm having problems like this now - we've lived in the same house for over 8 years now. Go figure.

I know we have black widows outside and I've found a few in the house. We have an old hot tub on the side of the house that needs to be trashed but it costs $800 for someone to come take it. My husband did say he saw tons of them around the hot tub. I'm surprised the dog hasn't been bitten. Anyhow its off to the side of the house which is someplace I rarely venture.
I've seen a lot of those brown looking spiders around too. Glad to know I'm not the only one in N Cal that's noticed the increase in spiders. Anyhow, thanks for the suggestions. Yesterday I vacuumed the entire house and today I'll work on the furniture and closets. Gawd I feel like a clean freak all of a sudden.

Hello to all my friends. As I've read through the posts today, I can't stop crying. Fatigue, I suppose. It seems that many of us here are going through some very trying times. First, I'd like to wish OS, Snoop, and everyone who is suffering, my prayers are with you. You are all so supportive and loving. Something my family is incapable of due to alcholic dysfunction. I am the blacksheep. I seem to be the only voice of reason and do my best to keep things gently moving for my brother in law. He is suffering so badly and sis keeps drinking as to stay in denial. That's the theme in my family. It was very apparent growing up and especially apparent during Dad's suicide in March. I am blessed because I got out. I'm rambling again through tears, but THANK YOU ALL so very much for being here for me. On my way out to see Adam and make sure he's taking his meds. and doing what he's been told!! One night, an 87-year-old woman came home from Bingo to find her 92-year-old husband in bed with another woman. She became violent and ended up pushing him off the balcony of their 20th floor apartment, killing him instantly.
Brought before the court, on the charge of murder, she was asked if she had anything to say in her own defense.. 'Your Honor,' she began coolly, 'I figured that at 92, if he could screw, he could fly.'

Drew! WE are designed to cry when we are hit with a crisis. Otherwise God wouldn't have put faucets in our eyes. In dysfunctional families, it seems one always gets away. You're different. You don't use booze to cope. I believe alcoholics were born with a missing cope component. They don't mean to be difficult, they just don't have the kind of strength we have. They don't want to cry. Afraid they'll melt I suppose.
The truth is, those black sheeps like you come out on the sunny side of the hill after all the dust settles, and the life we work so hard to live through becomes so valuable. We live with the scars, but it beats laying down and practising dying.
Stay strong... the alternative is, getting drunk. ;) Not to say we can't decompress with a few hagnogs now and then. We don't make a career out of it. It would be nice if they made one drink that gave us a permanent buzz, wouldn't it? No such drink, but you got friends. Often that's better than family. Friends don't take your down times personally.
I know from where you speak baby.. It gets better.. I promise you that!

that just reminded me of something interesting i learned the other day. blue-belly lizards (western fence lizard) have a substance in their system so that when a tic gets on them and feeds off of them if the tic had lime disease when it started feeding on the lizard by the time the tic is off the lizard it is clean of lime disease. my hubby found that on google, and we have a lot of blue belly lizards here and hardly ANY cases of lime disease, thought that was interesting. :read:

Love the tattoo quote! It's all true. I've always felt like a weirdo in my family. It took till now for them to stop attacking me. I couldn't figure out why a bunch of miserable drinking people seemed to hate me. I was always made to feel like the bad guy and all I wanted was their love. I did the counseling too, while they partied hearty! I was always cowering and couldn't understand their meanness, then one day... BADA BOOM, I pushed back and everything changed. I realized I wasn't nuts, they are!
Now I don't care what they think. I made my own way and life is good. They're very polite these days but it doesn't matter to me anymore. I love them all, but I stay safe.

I'm a lot like you. Got out when I was 17.. never did the Woodstock thing, just had kids, loved them, taught them differently and tried to make my wool white, but it never happened. By the time poppa met me in my late 30's I was strong and he thought he found a miracle. It took little time for him to see that I was living in some kind of emotional straight jacket and he paid for the best counseling and guess what? I was a mystery to them too. I had the answers. Fight back! I did and the rest is history.

Am I hungry? Should I or shouldn't I eat?
We went to Applebee's today after school clothes shopping for the weebs and I ate myself stupid. I love the spinach dip, the hot wings and the mozzarella sticks.. so we ordered that multi appetizer.. then I had 3 roast beef sliders and I ate all of them. When we got home I fell asleep on the couch.. just woke up and I'm not hungry but I think I should go for it or I'll be undernourished. :hat:
I've been hungry in my time.. but not with poppa. He overfeeds people. :o

I love Applebees! I always wind up getting the bourbon steak, but that dip IS the bomb!
On the spur of the moment, a little while ago we went to Chili's with my nephew........ugh, somehow the food sucked, I mean everything. Then my nephew pulled a fast one and told the server it was my daughter's birthday...They came over singing that crazy birthday song..SHE was mortified! (I almost peed my pants, it's not her birthday!)
D*mn, that molten chocolate fudge cake with the vanilla ice cream they gave her as a birthday present was GOOD though! LOL
Sliders remind me of White Castle 'Murder burgers'! MMMmmmm ..burp!

LOL!!! Fun!
I miss White Castle. It's gone! I get tired of Franchise food, but thank goodness we still have a lot of owner operated places here. Good ole Federal Hill had the best restaurants, but it would be hard to impress a New Yorker, that's for sure! I Love NY! My neighbor has an apartment in Manhattan but he won't invite me.. the bum! He said it's too small for him and it's cheap rent is only $2500 a month. I fed him Veal Francese last week and he still won't invite me to his Manhattan apt. I think he's gay. LMAO! I love him though!

I will see if I can find a picture of Debra. She is not Italian though. It sounds like you made an incredibly important decision and it was the right one. That is so wonderful when it happens. I did not see it as last man out. I saw it is you kind of holding up the family on the one side. Must be me. I always wondered about my parents and affairs but I do not think so. Thank you Sara baby, I hope I did some good for my family. Besides being a battering board for them, I know I tried to show them I loved them. I made a video once and put each one's life with pictures to music.. I chose a song for each one of them and it was from my vantage point through my rose colored lens and my mother just loved it. My grinch sister sarcastically remarked, Hmm, I suppose you'll discover another planet tomorrow. Jerky sisters. If I discovered another planet, I'd pack her up and send her there. :hat:
My mother's song was Autumn Leaves by Nat King Cole because that was her wedding song. My song and has always been , Somewhere over the Rainbow. LOL! My siblings always laughed at that, but one day they will understand why I live the life I live with poppa.. dreams do come true, if ya got one! :)

Yes you can go to Applebees. Order the Ceasar Salad and lean chicken, and ice tea with fake sweetener... very filling. It's very good. When I gained a lot of weight on antidepressants I'd order that.. I lost the weight by staying away from carbs and throwing another orange pill bottle in the garbage. They don't work for me. And, we all know carbs nine tenths of the problem. But I love to eat them! :punch:
Big CASEY ANTHONY HEADLINE IN RI TODAY!
Lawyers Claim body was put in woods while mother was in jail! groan.... defense strategy blah blah blah.. there is proof that someone else placed the body in the woods where it was found. Also defense asks that what CA said to LP should not be allowed.
Poppa just read the article to me here in the kitchen. He just said that parents should start using the word NO before the kids are walking. He said, when we were kids ,, when our parents said the word no, it was NO and if we didn't like it,, it was still NO! That was the problem in the A house, he said.

Yes you are right bout that Bob-sure beats the nanny theory. It will be interesting to see how the defense handles that one. I assume ignore it? Or explain it as a Liar panic moment? It's going to come up so it will be interesting to see what they do with it.

I honestly have no idea...it seems early on Casey did literally everything a lawyer would have told her not to do. Well, except for take a polygraph, and I think Gator is probably grateful for that since Florida would have kabloooied like the Death Star from the power drain, if you ask me...but just in general, where does a defense go with the hand they were dealt? I will also be fascinated...

Ahh yep! Big joke. Just yesterday I was looking at the link with the song video you posted, and I noticed for the hundredth time, that cartoon with the "everybody dies" quote she plagiarized, and the picture of the little girl with the rope around her neck.. and, I got this flash picture in my head that she choked her. I got the feeling that Caylee was as spoiled as she was and at that age the little ones can go on and on with the screaming so she taped her mouth shut and in a fit f rage (as she has the instant gratification disorder) she wanted her to stop and simply choked the life out of her. IMO.
Ya know?
Anyway, I don't care who put the body there, it still took her 31 days to tell anyone she was missing. If anyone else put the body there, she was still involved just like Grinch said. But truthfully, IMO, she dumped her there. When I see where they're going with this defense and how they're going to make Tony the bad guy, it makes me angry. If they have proof that he was near the dump site, I'll eat it. TO me, it's like throwing chit against the wall to see what sticks and they are going to insult the intelligence of the jury.
It's all to clear she off'd her kid.

You are absolutely right! If you don't get them to obey at one year, then they won't obey the rules at 21. Rules are for their safety.. Imagine the house on fire and you tell them to get out of the house with you and they say, no?
It's hard and that's an understatement, to raise kids to stay safe. It takes a lot more love to discipline than to say yes all the time. So often, we want to say yes.. but it's not good for them, just us using noise control. You are a good mom BoB! The babies depend on you to be smarter than them. ;)
Poor Caylee knew her mother was an airhead, I'm sure of it.

That is a very good theory Nawny on the idea of choking. I dont doubt caylee was very spoiled with all of the wrong things. Evident in video. Waaay to much "stuff". No pics with friends or play groups. I cant imagine what that child overhood in everyday convo. One thing that always ate at me was how did Liar talk to her when they were alone. Very sad that she was born into that family with all the innocence of any angel.. and I do believe they had her on the wrong path.. poor Caylee. There are so many who would have loved to take such good care of her. The A's wouldn't even share her with kids her own age, much less people. Winny the Poo doesn't add anything valuable to a lonely little girl's life. It's all a nightmare.

Nawny, thanks for sharing your lovely treasure. Your family is just how I imagined. Beautiful. Like you, I try to hang on to the good memories. There are times when things were good. But most often, things were really bad and overshadowed the good. Few good times to compensate for the ugly ones.
HOWEVER, getting out (becoming the bad-ass black sheep) was the only way for me to stay safe and sane. I don't regret it one bit. Sometimes when I get pulled back in due to circumstances, I leave them feeling like chit. They can be mean but I blame it on the alcohol which is always the center of their functions.

Hey Drew, I think you speak for many of us with sad childhoods and trying to climb out. With my family I just tell myself alcoholism is a disease and genetic. I cannot control them but I can control how I react to them for my sanity. I just concentrate on me as much as possible. (ex. circumstances)
When my niece was born I fell in love with her. just an angel. I took care of her as much as I could. Her mother never said no to her growing up. Of course she dropped out of H.S. did many drugs and alcohol, went from man to man and now is finally the mother of a baby at 21! the father of course is a drug addict she met from across the country and has no idea. the apple does not fall far from the tree and it scares me to think how Caylee would have turned out had she lived. So very sad. Her only chance would have been a different living situation and we know that would not happen. IMO sara

It's true. My baby understands what no means. She crawls the wrong direction, I say NO, she comes back. I think a lot of parents wait until they have clear communication to try and negotiate to instill discipline. By then, it's too late I think.
You're a good mommy!....and, you hit the nail on the head! My girls grew up with Loonette and Molly on The Big Comfy Couch (laughing here :)) Molly would say no to everything, hence, A fave song was NO MEANS NO... My oldest would sing it over and over and over...............http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvFv_adJIsE
Anyway, LOL, the kids knew NO, even the fricken cats know NO... LOL. That's the difference between, let's just say many others children here, and Nawny's good girls ~ and someone like Casey.
