That is a wonderful idea! I have plenty of room and a lot of love to share! If you can crawl up those stairs when I'm done feeding you, and getting you drunk, we will celebrate the next day by going to little Italy for some good fun. I'd love to have you all here. We can go scope out lighthouses, or stop in NYC for a show. Maybe you'd like Boston or Cape Cod. I'll show ya around! I love people and especially house guests. Poppa will spoil you all, for sure! Any time!
Gator may be coming in the fall. I'm so excited!
My dear, Nawn. Good to have ya back! :seeya:
Sounds like a plan. Count me in. Now, how do we get everyone organized to visit Hotel Nawny?!!
It's early here on west coast so I'll say g'nite to all you easties!

Wow! Don't make me get off this chair and write a Wind post! God damn SOB POS!!!!! These poor little children!!! Evil destroys everthing it touches! These young murdering mothers are all so sexual! WTF? I can't understand what the F they're thinking. Um, duh, yeah I think I'll kill my child and go party.
I hope she rots from the inside out. The parents forgot to break her plate.
You know what I think is part of it? The ubiquitous social networking sites and stuff. Every moment becomes a networking opportunity and it divorces the ones who are susceptible from reality. iirc, this one had a very active myspace or whatever, too. Does the computer become more real to them than their own children? And then gives them unreal expectations of what life should really be? And all those tv shows, too?
Something to think about when the time comes my kids use computers-I'm going to do some mulling today. I think rationing computer time will be absolute and strict.
eta: that's all imo, btw

Nothing wrong with that Bob-we were very strict with the puter. It was then out in the open. Not in their rooms. When we moved it into the home office door must be open. We put a lock on it and hid the key. When time was up you had 5 minutes to finish and get off. Talking idle stuff not homework. If not off when the 5 minute timer went off the door was locked for 1 week. Sucked to be them as homework then had to be done at school or the library. Only pulled it once.

I do agree with you regarding the easy access to the world via online sites. And I also agree that the associations online become real to some. How easy it is to be someone else online! We are already seeing good parents oversee their children's time online. That young girl who killed herself over a boy who didn't even exist is a good example. I don't remember her name but her friend's mother went to court for pretending to be a boy with a crush on that girl, then kicked her to the curb and she died for it. I'm sure you know the case. Anyway, her mother monitored her time on the computer and iirc, she stood behind her and actually saw some of the interactions.
Don't let the world get your children and give them back to you in pieces. I don't know the answers and I'm not in a position to advise, as the world got one of mine. That one out of four was taken in by a world I never knew. I suppose the best thing we can do is know what's out there and I am sure you do BoB. Now I do too! Stay strong!

Well, of COURSE, he wouldn't have FLIRTED---just checked in so we could ask if he was eating right, lol!!!!
Hmm....On another message board, to read about Lunsford is to believe he is working hard (or was) on the Jessica Law, and supporting his wife and baby, and going to other places to comfort families of missing children. Just a wonderful, wonderful man now, been thru so much and all.
I don't know about what they knew or posted about his life prior to Jessica's murder, but it seems like the folks (on that board, @ least) have forgiven him for anything prior to Jessica's murder. Methinks some are trying to make up for the fact that some had him quartered and dried for murdering her, until Couy showed up.
Of course, the posters don't seem to live in that area, so probably aren't aware of how the locals perceive him. So, was he asked that in just an interview, or did he testify to that in court? I didn't follow the case in court, so don't know if he testified--but probably not, if he had nothing to contribute, other than being Jessica's father.
THey reacted to an interview I'm pretty sure. They knew him and drank with him at the local pub. He may have gotten them on a technicality. He sounded like the man was an acquaintance, not a friend. You have to know the area to understand the lifestyle there - Heavy drinkers, bikers, woodsy sort of town. Lots of trailers and all that jazz. Most of them survive from week to week and double up in trailers. I would guess The little Cummings sweetheart lived in that kind of environment. I have no judgements to make but it's not like he didn't know Couy. IMO

I've found that my social skills have improved since coming to the 'net.
I'm more tolerant of people I disagree with, and have become a better listener.
By brother and sis-in-law are very strict about how much time their kids (17.5, 13, 13) get to be on the computer, and have been since they first went on-line (and even before, when games were on discs). Five people, one computer. On principle.

Hi Marian!
ITA regarding Internet exchanges. I've come a long way since I first got online in the 90's. I was horrified when I read some of the things people wrote. I thought it was a nut house. I stayed away from groups for many years and got into this one when the liar killed her little girl. I thought I knew a lot about people but I just couldn't understand that crime! Fortunately this group of intelligent people taught me that there is still good online. I enjoy all of you so much and do feel like we're all friends. I was leary at the beginning.
Then old_ soul promised me she wouldn't berate my family. lol! ooof! Those other Usenet groups were incredible with the insults. There was so much negativity and it's contagious, honestly! I was becoming what I detested because my kneejerk reactions were , well I guess they were normal. I learned how bad the net can be. I'm very careful now.
I'm very relaxed here and you're right we can agree to disagree without character assassinations.. Nice place this.

That's good-de facto computer rationing! Some school's here are starting to require each child have a laptop...I'll have big problems with that.
You're right about the internet and tolerance...I think in "real life" it's easy to just hang out in our neighborhoods, but sites like this have such a spectrum of religious, political, personal beliefs, and a cross-section of the socio-economics...that is a very good thing for the kids to pick up. It's almost like travelling, which does some of the same things...

Have you ever seen those exchanges on some of the political sites?! Of both side, conservative or liberal, doesn't matter. It's like a competition as to who can use the most insults per post. I think here we've all managed to share our opinions and learn from each other...those folks, though, they don't want to learn anything. It's just hate. Problem is, the media acts like they are the mainstream, when its normal people like us who are the majority. We're just not entertaining.

When my kids were in high school--maybe 4 or 5 years ago, they issued laptops to each student. It was tightly controlled and monitored as evidenced by the number of kids who had their laptops taken away for a time out so to speak. It didn't take more than one time of pushing the limits for most kids to toe the line on use. They had to find alternative ways to do their homework, and that wasn't much fun @ all. Of course, this is a small school district, a little over 700 students preK thru 12. It might be a bit much more of a nightmare to oversee large school districts. There were blocks on most things, and while there were computer savvy kids who could figure out a way around them, they were soon caught.
I know @ work (hospital) there are blocks on somethings, like I can't access this board from work. I used to be able to, and probably could have even posted, but I knew for sure I would get caught, so just used to read some--and that was pretty infrequent as we are busy most of the time. Some do still shop, and we can access email. I am pretty paranoid about getting caught, because I do know IS monitors @ least periodically. I can tell because there are some places that have been blocked. No one that I know of has actually been fired for person use of the computer, but I sure don't want to be the first!!! lol. I see a few notebooks being used, tho. Mostly on weekends, evenings and nights, when the likelihood of being caught is low. The administrative coordinators don't seem to care much one way or the other, as long as the work is getting done, and people are clocking out for breaks.

I have some pretty strong political views, but there is no way in heck I'm going to even READ the politic boards. I haven't looked on Crime Library to see if there is one here, the one board where most posters are reasonable and non-threatening. Willing to discuss issues instead of blast the poster for his/her views. Even when they (one the other boards) are posting on threads about the media, it's a lot of political posting. And, there is NO midground. There is NO, I'm on the opposite side, but I do see you have a point on this one subject. Nope, I don't think they even READ what the "opposition" says, they just tear down anyone and everyone and everything that is not what they believe in.
It's not like you can go to those boards and LEARN anything. There doesn't seem to be much regard for actual facts, just whatever slant each side wants to put on any particular issue. IMO

Me too, I come from a background where we would sit around the table at dinner and talk the news, basically friendly debate. I expected when I got out in the "world" that was how it worked...point/counterpoint discussion., everybody wants the same thing, just sees different ways of getting there so everybody's point is a valid one...
But then I found that anything political was seen as throwing down the gauntlet. I still find it amazing. The name-calling! ugggh

And isn't that so America these days? I used to have strong political views until Liberals became the joke of the century. I don't know what I feel anymore re politics. It's scary. I'm worried.
My Dunkin Donuts pet peeve reared its head yesterday. In today's work force where jobs are scarce I order a coffee coolatta with NO CREAM. She makes the thing, begins to put the cream on top, poppa shouts, NO CREAM. She totally ignored him and continued the process as if he said nothing at all. He was in shock, paid her and brought me the wrong coolatta. When he told me his story, I was scared again. That's where we are. No one is listening. From Washington DC to Dunkin Donuts and everywhere in between, we are broken.
This country needs a boot in the ass. A BIG one!
Of course I wanted to go back into the coffee shop and throw it in her face, but then I'd get arrested and we'd lose our house.
That's the truth. And the moral of the story is, he went inside to order it face to face, because he didn't trust the drive thru service because they always give you the wrong thing.

Nawny, the only thing I can think of is jealousy. It seems these two mothers in particular were quite used to getting all of the attention and then comes their two adorable baby girls. At first, the babies were a means of getting them more attention until they became toddlers and adorable in their own rights. The mommies didn't like the competition and it would only get worse. So, just like the fairy tale, the wicked queen decided to kill Snow White so she could be the fairest in the land again. Sick, sick, sick. Makes me wonder if those two babies were boys instead of girls, would they still be alive?

Maybe it's due to all these MP3 players and text messaging. No one actually listens anymore. When we were growing up we listened to records and we were taught to stop them when our parents wanted to talk to us. Now, no one talks, you text. Listening is becoming a lost art.

I could get in trouble here but I blame it on Rush Limbaugh. Before he started his hate talk, people were civil and treated each other with repect regardless of political party or views. Now, it has become hate the thought, hate the person. I don't like it one bit. Nothing can ever get done in such a disruptive, negative attitude.

Now that's an interesting thought! Boys don't seem to get the wrath of jealousy, that's true. I didn't follow up on this case but from what you say she sounds a lot like the skanky pork rind queen. I can't wrap my head around either one of them. How in the hell does a mother find her own child dispensable? I just don't understand why she didn't leave Grinch's clutches, go carve out a living, get Caylee into daycare and raise the little doll.
Liar was was so totally useless! I guess this bubble head was too huh? Stupid is as stupid does aye? Dumb and dumber thought they would get away with killing their kids. A couple of stoonods.

I can't stomach Rush Limbaugh! People seem to forget that he was mind altered on opiates for years and managed to get a following. He is an insult to conservatives. (I"m not one) But he is a hell of a creepy pied piper. I know a few of his parrots and they make me sick. There is an underlying insult in everything they say and they use those big words that have no meaning to the average American. He's a snide, insensitive human being. I'd love to see him in his feety pajamas acting like the little baby that he is. ;)

Holy Chit! You're right Gator! So right! THe traffic cop in front of my house (They're tearing up the street laying new water lines.) he had earphones while he was directing traffic around a huge hole in the street. I can't understand that kind of existence. I didn't go into the Dunkin Donuts with poppa, I should ask him if that stupid slob had earphones in her head when he told her twice, NO CREAM!!!!!!!
Actually we were in the hood on Elmwood in the city and when I asked him why he accepted the coffee that way, (it is so out of character for him) he said, Aye, you know where we are hon. That place is a drug store. You give those nuts any lip and you're likely to get shot in the face. Ahhh, gottcha! See? we are starting to accept the unacceptable. Ya know it's true, good point about meeting people we would never know if not for the net. I love learning about other places in the world first hand, from those who live such different lives. I pretty much grew up in a closet here in RI. Until I got older I never left the state. Rhode Island is a very small state and the people here are tight and the polotics are too stuck on stupid to make sense anywhere but here.
I've become well traveled and get very excited still when I am able to take part in traditions different from my own. Unlike my parents, I've become very adaptable and accept who I am, none the less. God love the Internet.
I'm meeting more and more people who have found love online and at first I thought that was insane, but now I see how very normal it has become. One of my nephews married a girl from Peru and she's lovely. They are very happy together. He's a professional and so is she. They live in St Augustine Florida and have a beautiful little boy. Another nephew married a girl from Romania and they also have a very good life together, intending to live there one day.
This would never have happened if not for the Internet. Amazing!
Not to say there are no dangers online, but there are dangers in real life too.

I need an insane hairbender today. I look like kid kinky! No matter what kind of cut I get, my hair always ends up in a scrunchy. I would love a very short haircut but poppa won't like it. More teachers have been moving to requiring schoolwork be done in handwriting now, at least by college age. I took a French class at the local community college and it was all hand-I guess to keep people from finding a key online and cutting and pasting. My hand still hurts (*whine*)

I need an insane hairbender today. I look like kid kinky! No matter what kind of cut I get, my hair always ends up in a scrunchy. I would love a very short haircut but poppa won't like it. He got mad last time I did it very short, like an inch long. Darn these men and their Eve complexes I love short hair.
Have a great day!

Bob-Duggar's are Baptist per Loretta. I have heard them say on their show its God's will as to how many children they have. Let's hope for her sake she hits monopause early:eek: I remember in one convo with Loretta she referred to her vagina as a clown car. I still cry laughing. She is way too funny. I have been to her state and most of the churches i saw were Baptist. We have a friend from AZ who has lived in Arkansas for years. His take is there are 3 impotant things. Football, football and religion. The parts i saw Bob were just like northern ontario that you have seen. It is a very pretty state.

I did some poking around and found out about the "Quiverfull Movement" and the whole ATI thing. Not garden-variety Baptists, that's for sure! I didn't realize they even eschew Catholic forms of family planning... I love learning about subcultures.

Yes loretta does mention that in her message to me (QM) I remember in one episode i saw the son who was marrying had not yet even kissed his bride to be. Toatally saving themselves. She is now expecting so i guess they got it right:shrug: To each his own.

In the still match-made marriages amongst the most orthodox of orthodox Jews the bride and groom meet, I think a maxium of three times, supervised, before the wedding. No physical contact. At all.
But it's no secret that some of the boys have snuck out and found women that were willing to instruct them for a small fee...

On this board I have enjoyed *meeting* a lively group that I wouldn't have met any other way. Some other boards - not so much and I left those quickly. I read this one for a bit and thought everyone seemed pleasant before I finally chimed in.
I may have mentioned this before, excuse me if I'm repeating myself, I work in an office of all men. It's all high-end contractual/legal stuff. Very dry. It's nice to sneak away and find out what you are all up to. No offense Deacon - I like hearing from you too!

I found a website that offers "modest clothing patterns for toddlers" Am I alone in finding that thought...disturbing?
It's funny how you hear everyone getting all worked up about burqas and such...but this undercurrent is in every religion, it seems. I went to a high school whose tenets made make-up the mark of a Jezebel. (a girl in make-up, wearing earrings, eating a burger and drinking a caffeinated soft drink? Wagonload of Hellfire on the hoof! Of course, that girl was me :D...I never joined the church. Staying Baptist, thank you RJ Academy!) They even sent me to a youth conference in Mexico City, sure I would be so impressed I would "convert"...boy, did I get the hard sell on that last day!

I guess I was speaking from the girl's point of view...the thought of never having had contact with a non-relative and suddenly having to be naked in front of a stranger....eeeep!
But generally, both the blind leading the blind and a boy with some "practice" could be equally bad. Who knows what he might have "learned"?
I have nothing against chastity, but I do personally feel that a couple needs to know each other before marriage, even if it is arranged...I have indian friends, and they arrange, too, but with lots of input from the sons and daughters. The women were "advertised" as ready for marriage in the Indian matchmaking newspapers, men responded with letters, resumes and photos, and the parents chose the top 5 to meet, then the daughters chose which one to marry. They had plenty of engagement to get to know each other before marriage. I was amazed that a friend of mine who was feminist and not straight went for it, but this is simply what is done, she said. She and her husband have an understanding...works for them.

Haaaaa!!!!! Been there done that. A few years ago I thought it's be a good idea to get my hair frosted. I have no grays but I had never had my hair dyed or frosted so I went for it.. AWFUL!!!! Burned to hell! I looked like a homeless barmaid. Poppa kept saying OMG that's horrible, every time he looked at me. I went to Walgreen's and bought a dark brown do it yourself Loreal kit to get it back to my color then it looked like someone did chemical warfare on my head. So, I got it cut very short and the rest is history. I'm much too dark skinned for frosted hair.. Oy vey! And I did all of that for $160 bucks to the hairdresser. I paid her to destroy my hair. Nice huh? She saw my tail lights. I found a nice Italian guy who knows how to make me cute. :)
It takes longer every year. But at least I'm getting wiser... When I'm not being totally stupid. ;)

Yipes! Sounds like you're set with your Italian guy, but if anyone wants to go all natural, check out this site: http://www.hennaforhair.com/ (if you follow links to the parent site, they go into henna tattoos, too.)
BUT! if anyone ever decides to use henna, use only real henna and not those pre-mixed colored boxed kits from the store: many of them contain poisonous mineral salts or worse, a chemical called PPD (that's what burns the skin on those "black henna" tattoos) beware!
moo, moo, I'm no beautician! (But my mom is, and she told me in beauty school she managed an accidental hot pink hair incident! Had to retake that class, I'll bet...)

Hey girls. I'm home with a lousy head cold today so thought I'd pop in and see whatcha'll been doing. Haven't been on the boards much lately.
Nawn, I hear ya about the hair fiasco. What is it with us girls and our hair problems? I have naturally curly hair, and, of course, I've always wanted straight hair. I discovered a long time ago it is a waste of my time and money to change the curls. Just not gonna happen. I've got a great gay boyfriend who cuts my hair at his home for 1/2 of what he charges in his salon. It's always a fun day we have champagne and snackers and I get to listen to all the drama he's created in his life! He has the wildest stories. :eek:Makes my life seem tame (which I prefer at my age!).

Makes me wonder if those two babies were boys instead of girls, would they still be alive?
i have wondered this same thing a few times. then that leads me to wonder what other forms of abuse the boys may have been forced to endure from their over sexed mothers later in life if that had been the case

LOL yea for some reason people come here and decide that since they are from "away" that they don't have to drive faster than 15 mph on ANY road, they can continuously have one of their blinkers on, they don't have to recognize stop signs, the list goes on and on. drives us nuts and gives me and hubby much road rage lol

For people sensitive to it, permanent tattooing is safer!!!
Here in the Middle East we add Turkish coffee grounds to the henna to get a dark color. Tea emphasises the natural redness.

I've seen those nawnys with purple highlights. I want to cry! It's not nice to fool mother nature. I have this strange kind of integrity and foresee myself growing old gracefully with my gray hair and smart dresses. But I lie to myself. I want to look my age beautifully. but I haven't figured out how yet. I'm in a strange transition at 59. I keep looking like an older version of myself. I have to stay away from the Hair Dye aisle in Walgreen's. Don't we ever get tired of looking at the same ole face?
I was reading an article in a mag on the plane last week. A few years ago they came out with a lunch hour face lift.. and lots of women were running to get it. THey use threads and do a simple mini lift. Well it turns out that the thread is acting like a cheese cutter and cutting through the nerves and tendons in the face. Some ended up with one side of their faces dropped and it's irreparable! Vanity, they name is woman! How awful! I saw Kathy Gifford for the first time in ages on TV and she looks like a train wreck. Her face is all puffed up.
Well, the weebles are here and I have to go in the paint studio and play now.

LOL! OH! FA SURE! :)

That is what I have said about all the things women (and men, too) have put themselves thru. Like the silicon breast implants. I had a patient once, years and years ago with those little puppies. Just hard material sitting there under the skin. I was thinking, so she might look nice under her clothes, but what man would want to play around with those suckers (if she was also doing it "for a man" type of thing.)
Anyway, as with so much of the implants and botox and other things that people are crying about now--well, if they had left well enough alone, they would not be in the boat they are in now. I wonder if they bothered to listen to or read about the what might happens (even if the chances of things like leakage and slippage and all that were touted as being small) or if they just had it in their minds they wanted an improvement regardless.
You know, plastic surgery, if not done to excess, is probably the longest lasting of all those things. My God, those women with the botox stuff, they just keep pumping and pumping and pumping and look so grotesque. I was just sick @ heart watching Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton performing several years ago. I hadn't seen them forever, Kenny had had many surgeries (and he admitted he is sorry he ever did them) and I'm sure Dolly had, but she was so gaunt and skinny, all you could see of her was her botox lips and silicon boobs. The actress who replaced Suzanne Summers in Three's Company had been on infomecials. Now, I don't think she had surgery, but she was a little anorexic looking, and botox lips. I was thinking, I'm not buying what she's selling, if that product had a part in how she looks today!!!
Anyway, I think probably the only one who has weathered the plastic surgery well is Mary Tyler Moore. Perhaps she just stopped @ the one surgery? Maybe there are more, I just don't know they had surgery. Sally Field is looking good, but when you have a baby face forever, perhaps you age a bit slower? lol.
I quit messing w/my hair years ago. A little gray around the temples, a few strands here and there. I'm not thrilled about my wrinkles, but I can live with them. There are some areas under my eyes that could be attended to, but that will never happen. I have the insurance go-ahead to remove part of my eyelids. Can't remember the name, blephorectomy or something. They droop so much and cover the eye that I only see about half. But, the insurance says I still have my deductable, plus $1000 to pay if I have it done. Or, it might be up to $4000, they won't know until I have it done. WHAT???? What does that mean? I could, next year, have the $1000 taken out of my paycheck, but no way can I do the $4000. I did that the year DD had her reduction, and that was a LOT to have out of each paycheck!!! I can go to the plastic surgeon who does his work @ the hospital where I work instead of the eye surgeon. I don't have to pay the hospital bill-just the surgeon and anesthesia, which would mostly be paid by insurance.
Have a good weeble time!!! They don't care about hair color or wrinkles--they just care about attention from Nawny!!!!
I'm off again today for the 70 mile trek to see the folks. Their 30 days in the care center are over, but the doctor has been out of town and has to release them. It has been an eye opener, one I don't wish on anyone. Daddy is doing really well w/the walker. He'd do better if Mom wasn't so "helpful," bless her heart. She just wants to be sure he doesn't fall, but she holds onto his arm like they are taking a stroll down the street, instead of maybe a hand on his elbow. If he would take a tumble w/her helping, he'd squash her like a bug if he fell on her.
My sister found a little house in town that Mom just loves. And, it's 1 1/2 blocks from my niece's house. She has a 6 y/o who can run down the street to say hello to Grandma and PopPop. And, of course, 2 of my sisters live there and will be in and out. My brother lives there, and I imagine he might even stop in on his way home from work most nights.
We have been dismantling their house. We were going to wait and let them go and decide what to do with things, but the sister who lives with them had already torn things up PLUS let the dog AND a cat in the house!!! NEVER, EVER were there animals in the house!!! She just took over the place like it was already hers. She is not doing well with the dismantling. Well, she DOES want their stuff out so she can get her stuff in, but she has a cow when we move something. "That's going to be mine. Sister is supposed to get that." Just as late as yesterday, she had to be reminded this isn't like they have died and we are dispensing their belongings. They are alive, and all possessions belong to them. Period. Make a list of who is supposed to get what, and when the time comes we can deal with that.
That has been an interesting experience all on it's own. She knows exactly where every little thing is in that house. When Daddy would get in a mood to "organize" or Mom would move something to a "safe place" she would look around til she found where things were moved to. She knows exactly what important things Mom hid in her dresser drawers. When I was taking things off the wall the other day, there was a plaque she had made for our Granny, and one she had made for the folks. I left those there, cuz she is so upset and paranoid about maybe someone getting something she feels is hers. She has a mind like a steel trap, which will be good once the time comes that we would be dispensing things out--she knows who gave what to them. I don't remember the next week what I gave!!!! lol

It can totally and permantly mess with your immune system. And that's from www.nlm.nih.gov and www.mayoclinic.com , not from scare story sites.
For people sensitive to it, permanent tattooing is safer!!!
Here in the Middle East we add Turkish coffee grounds to the henna to get a dark color. Tea emphasises the natural redness.
Not much good once you are white haired, you'll get pink.
Yeah, the PPD danger cannot be emphasized enough. There have been problems here with people getting "black henna" tattoos at fairs and such, and then weeks later the design is permanently scarred onto their skin, and they have terrible chemical sensitivities develop after that...and of course, by the time they realize this has happened, the henna "artist" is long gone.
There is NO such thing as "black henna"...it's all a variation of orange/red-it can be dark, but NOT black. If anyone ever offers you a "black henna" tattoo, run far and fast!

Wow, you're doing a lot of stuff right now! It sounds like a great situation for your parents though, so close to family.
Have you thought about maybe having your mom and dad have a little "training" session with, maybe, a physical therapist? When my grandmother was injured in a car accident, my mother was taught the right way to help stabilize her while walking. That ended some of the scary things I was seeing. I just suggest, because I know parents-they won't pay attention if you say anything, but an "outsider" has more credibility...
Good luck!

That's why they were @ the care center. For intensive rehab. That's another eye opener and a whole 'nuther story!!! Anyway, Mom is not cooperating. They are upset that they are there. Daddy has cooperated w/therapy, but Mom just gets upset and mad. The staff were happy that she made the decision to not attend his sessions because she would get po'd and disruptive. BIL brought them here where I live to see the surgeon, and while I didn't see him get out of the car, I watched him get in twice, and he did quite well. He did tell Mom to leave him alone (which hurt her feelings, of course) because he needed to be doing things independantly.
She was quite hostile when any exercise was not directly using the hip. She used to work in PT, and I tried to remind her that, when SHE was doing PT, they did exercises for strengthening the whole body, had to work on balance, etc. She wouldn't admit to it, @ least not out loud. I guess she quit going because she realized us kids weren't supporting her in her ideas of what exercises should and should not be done.
Daddy "flunked" the Alzheimer test, but oldest sis who is also a nurse and attended, thinks some of the things he did were because he could not hear the directions. She thinks he should be tested again when not under stress.
Mom had "passed" the test some years ago, and this time was still "perfect" on her clock. She smuggly told oldest sis that she passed the test again. Our niece, the doctor's nurse, was in attendance and informs us she only got 16 of 24 questions (or whatever they are) right. So, even tho she can still do her clock, she definitely has some major dementia problems going on. If it weren't for Daddy, I think she'd be quite content to be in a nursing home, as long as it was where us kids would be coming and going frequently. And, with 7 of us, someone could be popping in and out pretty much every day.
In her state of mind, being angry @ the therapist, she'd probably take advice from us kids better. But, she would forget that we told her!!!! :)

Did ya ever think what the "tox" at the end of botox was. Toxic. Hmmm does that not sound familar to some people?

You do have a point there. I believe in taking care of one's self (altho I'm not all that good in that department) but I can't see doing things to the body like botox. Now, lipo suction, where you take things out that is a different story, lol!!!! Altho, it does seem there are those who have had that who have it done numerous times, and there is the problem of excess skin and all that.
I just think, after all these years, looking @ people who have botox, have implants and such, people would realize it's not all good. And, how can they continue to bring lawsuits against manufacturers and doctors, when the proof of problems can be seen on tv and in the magazines every day? But, some still want the procedures.

I imagine the ones done for mastectomy reconstructions are better because its just fixing stuff, but the ones for "enhancement"...do they think we don't know?! You would not believe the percentage of fakery there is in LA...I was walking the Miracle Mile with the hubby, telling him, "fake, real, fake, fake..." Doesn't count for much if it looks fake. So do gym socks in a bra. Cheaper, too.

I was kind of confused by the article (I think the writer assumed everyone knew the basic facts)
So...the officer hit a sailboat while speeding really fast in his speedboat, killing his passenger. But they are prosecuting the guy that he hit? Am I reading this right? And the sailboat guy is thought to not have his lights on?
And how could the two folks who assisted the helicopter differ in their testimony on whether a woman was loaded in or not?

well, from what i have both read in the papers and what i have heard in this town from word of mouth, including my dad who worked with the guy Perdock (hated him too) EVERYONE involved in this accident was under the influence of alcohol. Russell Perdock was not given a breath test at the scene or at all during the course of the investigation that night. the driver of the sailboat apparently was BORROWING the boat from a friend and he didn't even know how to work the lights on it, but according to the testimony of the owner of the boat HE checked the lights for his friend before they left the dock.
now, i have been disgusted with this from the beginning because witnesses have said that all the parties involved were drunk and that Perdock was going way too fast for it being night, and people from all sides have said that first NO ONE had lights on, then only Perdock did, then they both did. i think that it is very sad that that lady lost her life, but i also think that sometimes accidents are accidents and if they are going to make ONE of the people take responsibility then the other person should too since they were both at fault just for being drunk IMO.
ETA it was the passenger of the sailboat who was killed. pretty sure that was the only injury involved aside from minor things. so yes, the sheriff ran into this guys boat and killed his girlfriend from what i understand

Well, that explains people not agreeing on whether a victim was loaded in a helicopter or not!
This sounds like a classic, all around, cluster you-know-what. Yeah, I say prosecute all or none. I'm sorry the woman passenger died. If it was the boat "captains" it would have been a Darwin Award...

WOW! Sounds like you had a great day! I'll look into that Victoria Secret pinky pink.. I haven't been there in a while and also the Fierce#3. I love smellies! Where were you Bree? NY?
I'm procrastinating my butt off this morning. I can't seem to get started. I guess my brain and emotions need decompressing.. I have so much to do. I should go help poppa with his office move, but then again, I want to go upstairs and start my new painting, and again, I should go to the fish market and get him some sword fish because I've been cooking too many carby things, and of course there is always laundry :( But I wanted to go down to the ocean and feed the gulls just to shake my mind off. But here I sit ungrateful for the freedom and the life I am so fortunate to have. I love my life. thankyouGod.
3 of my weebles are camping and 2 are in preschool today so I'm lonesome.
I swore off Sworofsky. The stones fall out. I sent an 80 dollar bracelet back and the stones fell out of the new one too. Back it goes.

So, "Squeeky" Fromme has been released.
Call me crazy, but I feel anyone who attempts to kill a president should be gone forever. Being a member of the Manson Family on top of it? No daylight.
Be warned: the photo on this story include an unendited one of the Sharon Tate crime scene (I'm pretty shocked its in there without any warnings to site visitors or anything!) http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,539378,00.html

LOL! Yes darlin! I'm getting tired of the putana with the blue dress. She's on my last nerve. I need to get more creative. That old painting that's my avatar now is another boring thing. I'll work on it. ;)
Okay now I'm all dressed up with no where to go. I did the cocky dodo laundry, changed the bed, vacuumed the downstairs quarters, and still don't know if I want to go to the fish store, take a walk along the shore, go help poppa at the office or take a nap. I don't want to mess up my lipstick though.. I should go apply for a job at Dunkin Donuts and work with the other mentally challenged folks. I need to learn how to serve people what they didn't order.

:) Swarovski is made here in RI. This was once the jewelry capital of the US until third world countries made us an offer we couldn't refuse. I grew up in the industry. My parents had factories and job shops. I was kicking a foot press before I was out of grammar school. I had fast hands momma said. Child labor I say! What a team 7 kids made!
The foot presses were used during the initial process of some pieces. You put the metal sliver on the press, kick the pedal and bam, it turned into something pretty then it went for gold plating and came back to the piece workers for rhinestones or pearls and then on to packaging. Most of it was costume and RI is famous for that. Well, it was.. now Brazil and China re famous for it, thanks Regan.

I hope you got some good rest girlfriend! All that shopping is brutal! :punch:

Ah what the hell, let them all out. The world we live in today would embrace them. I mean after all, poor Casey Anthony is a victim, hello?
Oh boo hooo she was merely 26 years old when she tried to shoot the F president!?!! When I was 26 years old I was about to have my 4th child and managed to keep my life in order. Oh me on my, I simply had no time to go get drugged up and buy a gun! Silly me, I was too busy taking care of kids, cleaning a house, cooking, doing godforsaken laundry, driving my children to and from school and working nights to make ends meet. Darn!

Awww, babies always stop me in my steps. I would have had a dozen kids if it were practical! They drive me crazy, so beautiful. My daughters don't understand how I can take care of five kids and make it look like a duck walk. They never upset me no matter what they do. They trample me all the time and are ususally asking for something all at the same time. I love it. I wish I saw my grandson more often but they live so far away, so I'm dealing with all girls much of the time. They are so cute. Yesterday one of them wanted my skirt. It is a wrap and she loves to dress like a princess, so I put it on her like a dress, and tied it up nice and neat. She wore it all day. When her mom picked her up she said, "How do you EVEN feel like it ma? She's such a pest!" I always feel like it.
I know what you mean about the net being scary but leave that one up because it isn't extremely clear. A bad person would have to do photo forensics to be threatening. I feel safe here anyway. It isn't like we post Jon Benet type photos, those are the dangerous ones. Those little faces are little miracles to me. :)

Bob do you know how to thaw bread or buns from the freezer so they are reusable? not stiff???? We have a ton of them in the freezer left over from the weekend. I do not want to throw them out!!!!!!!!
Make bread pudding. It's easy and inexpensive and you can put marachino cherries and chocolate syrup swired in or chips mixed in. I just use a couple of eggs, one or two cans of sweet condensed milk and some cinnamin and vanilla. Then the fun is in what kind of bread pudding you want - plain, chocolate, cherry, pina colada, peach.....

I wonder what would happen if you put rum on it and flambe'd it? I could imagine something good, but I would be afraid the bread would get caught in the conflagration and someone would have to call 911...but it might get crispy on the outside like creme brulee...

Nawny, went to the endocrinolgist. He shook my hand three times because I did so well on my blood tests. He is amazed. I think the fish oil and the cinnamin made a big difference. Also, I requested to be changed from vytorin to go back to a plain generic statin and my triglycerides went down 120 points in seven weeks!!! So much for the new and improved meds! It's all a scam I tell you. The old meds worked fine and the docs insist on putting you on the new stuff so they can get their free trips from the drug reps.

Yes, cinnamon really brought it down and also magnesium. I just take a magnesium/calcium pill once a day and that helps. Most women have a magnesium deficiency and it affects the metabolism of carbohydrates.
Also, green tea helps. I have gotten used to it. My blood glucose went from a 220 average down to 150 in three months by making those changes. Doctor was shocked and I lost weight too!!! I had read that if you take fish oil, you could lose two pounds a month without changing anything in your diet. The oil helps flush out fat.

Thank you! It really made a difference. Her face was even getting a bit crooked before the helmet. She does look like me from the nose up, but when she smiles, she has my hubby's huge grin and dimples. My son is a ringer for my husband, but then he got my smile. But neither of us is blond or blue eyes, and they both are. It's so weird seeing how genes combine to make whole new people.

Most of the stores allow the dogs in and provide scoopers and bags. Every dog friendly store give the dog a bony when he enters??? I did not see one mess anywhere. Anyhoo we were oohing and aawhing over so many cute dogs. One young girl had a Paris Hilton dog-cant remember the breed DUH Dog is in a white dress with pink trim, pink collar and matching leash. So i ask whats the dogs name-Paris of course. The one think i could not get my head around was the dogs nails were pink-lovely manicure i must say :eek:

LOL! HENNA????? On Nawny????? That word looks like a disaster waiting for a place to happen. I have black eyebrows. :( I know I'll get gray eventually. My mother's hair stayed black until her late 70's so when that happens, I'll most likely go with some lighter highlights but I don't think henna will work on me. I'm so sick of my hair, it's so boring right now. Dark brunettes like me don't have a whole lot of options. Scrunchy summertime, yuk. Ahhh sweet youth I miss you so!

I got the sword fish Gator~ I marinate it in mayonnaise, it melts off but it makes it tasty. Then I grill it. I'm making fresh mozzarella salad for him too. And corn.
He didn't need my help today because he was doing electrical work. We pretty much did everything last Monday but tomorrow is the big move. We have to set up 6 offices upstairs and two down stairs. The computers need to get hooked up and working properly ,, that ought to be a joke. They wired it for cox cable but service isn't on yet and it better be functioning by Monday or you will hear him holler from Orlando. They promised him the service would be shut down on Broad St and hooked up on Elmwood tomorrow .. har har har.. I will believe it when I see it. They already know poppa's voice very well.. we shall see how many pants he makes poop go in tomorrow.
I am so happy about your B- levels! WOW! God bless Fish Oil. Just yesterday my Mary's husband got a cholesterol reading over 300 and that was the first thing his doctor recommended. Imagine? I do too Daisy-maybe one day with grandbabies??? Or from what i saw yesterday a dog. Dog store sold plush doggy bath robes? Pretty sad when a dogs pedicure looks better than your own
I currently have 5 step-grandsons. I put away all my sundress patterns after the last boy was born - LOL. I guess I'll have to wait for my two to have kids. I hope I can still sew/crochet by then!
I bought the Nutella yesterday. It's good, but nothing like peanut butter. Very chocolaty. My jar says it's from Canada and package here in NJ. Go figure. If you google Nutella recipes there is a lot of them - I saw the one with the cressant rolls. Brownies, muffins, all sorts of good stuff. It's like thick chocolate syrup.

Didn't buy anything yesterday but Mr. Beemer was kind enough to bring home cadbury milk chocolate bars-yes not 1 but 2. One is gone already. Lord help me

LOL!! Do I look Italian or what? What a pity... i always wanted to be blond haired and blue eyed. Drats.. I can't even go incognito now! In Ca. no one seems to care what nationality you are, but here in NE it's almost a given, they remark about it ten minutes after meeting you. There is something odd about that. I'm American, I swear ta gawd! If I had my way I'd be Irish and my name would be Mary Kate Danagher. ;)

We were all reprogrammed when I was a kid by local PSA. Charlie and Humphrey had this conversation about prejudice. C+H made me the girl I am today, lol! And thus, a whole California generation was shamed into not noticing ethnic distinctions. Then we got to the university, where they forced us to pay attention to them again...go figure?
Here's a Charlie and Humphrey that Casey could have been helped by: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXvo8RZUdow

So, "Squeeky" Fromme has been released.
Call me crazy, but I feel anyone who attempts to kill a president should be gone forever.
Disagree.
Except for his job, a Prez is just an ordinary Joe.
Not like he was annointed or divine right of kings or that kind of stuff (which I don't agree with either).
And he wasn't even elected, remember?
He just took over for a crook.

The only reason I like to know what your ethnic background is, is to be sure I feed you the foods you prefer. Other than that, I love to learn about other cultures. You'd be amazed how much I've learned about the world by way of my friendly interrogations. (Why I love the Internet)

Yes and no to that. He may be an ordinary Joe, true, but he is a powerful figure and his death could jeopardize an entire country. So if one 26 year old psycho decides to pop him off, we are vulnerable. Yeah they're all crooks but those crooks go down in history as icons because they wore that hat even though they all use the same toilet.

I agree to the extent that he's a regular Joe-actually beyond that because the President is my employee, no matter who he/she is. Doesn't get more average than that.
However, to attempt to kill a president is not an assault on one person, it is an assault on the office and by extension, our system of government itself. This is the one branch of the government that can be eliminated by a single bullet, so it is the equivalent of bombing the Capitol and taking out all of Congress, or the same for the Supreme Court justices.
So I still say, gone forever for the attack on democracy, not the attack on the person.

My son insisted on seeing them all, all night once he saw that one! Then my hubby leaned over when Humphrey was yelling "glue! I need glue!" and he was "oh, that's why you say that all the time." I didn't even realize I did that. One of those little local cultural lexicon things...
As for food, you would be totally confused by me...Irish/Danish/German, loves Italian and Mexican and Mediterranean (hold the olives on all of it, please), Indian food, good Chinese...but oh, yummy sweet pastries...that must be the Danish side speaking! You're not an old fart, we're just a couple of years apart. Mom thinks that she must have given birth to twin girls and one was stolen. She is amazed how much we are alike. She even noted that I wore my hair just like you do before I got it cut. With the heat down here, I had to go shorter and more natural. Now it's wash and wear hair. I thinl Poppa would rather you keep it longer rather than shorter. Men like longer hair on women.

One was diagnosed shortly after high school and the other in her 30's. The best thing those around her can do is educate themselves on it. There are so many good support groups as well. Your friend i realize is still in the shock and awe stage as well as yourself. Both friends are doing well. One is in a wheelchair now but lives in her house by herself and gets around fine. It's funny about the Taco Bell, I was constantly craving that this second time. I finally decided I must have some deficiency it was covering, lol! My first pregnancy I gained 50 lbs (!) and had a 9lb4oz baby. This time I only gained 30, but was the baby smaller? 9lbs8oz! uggh. I think its because I have huge babies I got so many stretch marks. Dumb question of the week. :o
Thank you! I just love the mini-herd!
I think I originally just was mystified and wanted to know either how or why, you know? But I am still mystified. Even when I am hopping mad, I cannot even imagine hurting my kids...it is simply unfathomable. My son has locked me out of the house forcing me to break back in, crayoned the walls, destroyed a work of art, broken my toe, lost the dog out of the yard...and I cannot even imagine. So I can't even say, oh, Caylee must have done something, set her off, because I swear, my son could burn down the house and it would not occur to me to hurt him (and I can honestly say that because he almost did once! boy, did he never touch the stove again. He told my mother, "Oh, Mia, no touch stove! Danger, danger!")
This whole thing is just so weird!:shrug::shrug: So that's as close to a book as I'll get on this...

Good for you! Except for the nausea...I've never had that.
My tummy looks like shattered silk *sigh* No more black velvet bikinis for me!
yea with my first i gained almost 60, and so all my old stretchmarks from him have got me covered now. this time around i do not have ONE new stretch mark, and my old ones are still all white and hardly there. my son was 8lbs1oz and 21 inches long and 5 days overdue. i am REALLY hoping i go a couple weeks early with this one. but that is wishful thinking.

I was sure I would be early-she had a single umbilical artery and stuff. But then she was breech and I had to get an external version (NOT fun) and then she just parked herself. I got induced a week late. My first was 2 weeks late and was born the day I was scheduled for an induction. Little stinkers ;)

Today was a hectic day. I had a lot of errands to do and have a bum knee right now so it wasn't easy. I had to take my four kittens up to a vet about 25 miles away this morning. They were all fixed, poor babies. They are four and a half months now and it's easier to do if they are younger. The girls' scar is only about a half inch. Little Freddo, Cookie, Gracie and Poppy are all doing great. All ready jumping all over the place. Luckily, my boss' wife has a non-profit organization which provides low cost neutering and spaying. otherwise, I'd have had to rob a bank or sell my blood. :D

Back in NC for the week. This is getting really old. I hate to leave my better half for a whole week but have been doing it for almost three months. My company just was awarded another huge contract for a job in Mobile Alabama and I certainly don't want to go there. That is coming home every 4 to 6 weeks only. Not good. So, I will stay here for another 8 or 9 months and wait until something else comes up.

I hear ya. In these times you take and go to whatever job you can get. A lot of people in my company have been relocated. Some didn't mind, the young ones with no kids and houses to sell, others are renting small units where they were sent to and keeping their house and family in NJ. I'm a headquarter employee so I'll stay put. Problem is - they sent everyone away and I'm picking up what they left behind.
As I paid the college bills last week I decided not to complain about the extra work......

The part I can't stand is to hear those "office boys" complain about all the site visits they have to do and have no time to do anything else but they send their Safety Professionals off to a remote site and won't let any of us help them. I heard so much of that complaining when I didn't have a project that it made me sick. I wasn't working but I wasn't laid off so I worked 15 to 20 hours a week. Now where was all of that work they had? I would gladly help them with their visits. The only project they wanted help with was the one that they made the owner mad and it was a big problem. Gee, thanks. Send me to a site where you pissed off the owner and let me face the crap while you sit on your rump. Some of these guys stink.

Can I get an AMEN on that one?
I also think the cops have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are.
And, no, I don't mind having my face shown on my drivers license.

I have seen this and several others like it. One of the things that is brought out by this is that neither party has it right. They are the extremes. And the ones who call themselves "conservative" are not conservative when it comes to wasting my tax dollars on stuff for themselves.

For some reason those parties think we want THIS agenda or THAT agenda. They each claim a "mandate" no matter the numbers. When I think the vast majority of us want them to just be honest, play fair, listen to us when we contact them, and don't rip us all off in any way. Simple. Who has that platform?

No one. Why should they listen to us, we are just the taxpayers who do not see the big picture in their eyes. Most of them are lawyers who write loop holes into all of our laws so the rich and influential do not have to abide by them. Then raise our taxes again to pay for their programs. Even in hard times they want to raise taxes on the people who still do have a job. Go figure. None of them can figure out that when the people are struggling to keep their heads above water it is time for a break from taxes. Did you realize that income taxes were suppose to be for only a short time? When they were first passed, they were only for a while. I guess that while has not passes yet. They would rather climb a tree and tell a lie than to stand on the ground and tell the truth.

Yes! The usual "duration of the emergency..." Once they have access to our money, government will find a continuing use for it. And once they have a bit of control, they will never give it up. Oh, no, I'm sounding like a libertarian! uh, oh...
Prop 13 is still one thing I am proud of for my crazy state! It was a tax revolt.

It's already too hot to go weed the garden here. I feels like Florida in RI. Poppa is off to slay the dragon in the big city and I am wondering where I'll start in this old house. Floors, laundry, dust, clean the fridge, work on my painting, prepare the 2 back rooms for the contractors (who are supposed to start midweek) or go to the shore and sit under a tree with 2 books I haven't started reading yet.
How's your reading going Beem? Did you finish the Runaway yet?

I hear you deacon.. It's almost comical that this Rush guy is even listened to. He has been a mind altered slob from day one and he's still rattling off on the radio getting six figures a year to blow bullshi*. He's not even entertainment. Hey Beemer - I recently pick my mother up at Penn Station in NYC. She took the train from Montreal to NYC. It's the Adirondack line. Very inexpensive. It takes longer than the bus but you can walk around, have comfy seats and there is a meal car. She had a glass of wine in the afternoon.
I think you are further West in Canada but if you can take bus to Montreal and then pick up the train..... I'll meet you at Penn Station!
OK, I guess I'm the only one, so far, going with a baby over 8 lbs. I'm small and my first (boy) was 9 lbs, 23 inches. My daughter was 8 lbs - I thought that was small!

Now that would be great Shady. If i do get there this fall we must all meet. I am a long way from Montreal and not sure i can sit that long on a bus. I prefer to fly. I shall work on it and maybe i can talk my gal pal into flying. Or i have friends out on Long Island that were just up here. She and I were thinking we need some girly time. My kids were 7lbs 3 oz, 7 lbs 1 oz and my last was 7 lbs 8 oz. Plenty big enough for me. My grandma had a 14 pounder but she was diabetic. Bent the head rails on a wrought iron bed  She was a tall slim lady. Maybe thats why she was so miserable all her life :punch:

There are people who have to chronically talk about how busy they are in order to make themselves appear indispensable to the company. Like they do the work of 3 people. They are annoying. If they really had that much work to do, on a schedule, they would have asked for your help, right?
I have to do a lot of "clean-up" in my job, too. Anyone who is difficult is sent my way - LOL.
Good for you  Gotta luv those paper shufflers. They have it down to an art.

Guess what the cable company did to Poppa today???
Yep, you guessed it! No connection! After all those warnings last week and the biggest warning was BUSINESS MUST BE READY TO ROLL ON MONDAY!
They did it again! He had to lock the door because the computers would not work.. He's not a happy man right now and his agents are stuck with his bad mood.. ewwww! Poppa doesn't even know what a Fire Wall is and he doesn't understand why the puters are all down,, not good, not good. Cox cable is a bad word today. 3 IT guys can't figure it out either.. Imagine moving from one street away and all hell breaks lose in his business. Clients were lined up at 8:45 this morning to get service. Poppa is a river to his people but today he is satan! I tried to calm him down but no luck. I hope he has a staff by 5pm.
Oh my... :chicken:
For some reason those parties think we want THIS agenda or THAT agenda. They each claim a "mandate" no matter the numbers. When I think the vast majority of us want them to just be honest, play fair, listen to us when we contact them, and don't rip us all off in any way. Simple. Who has that platform?
I'm looking for the fellow or gal who will make it a law that, no bill will be "rushed" or "pushed." When a bill is being presented, it should be such that there is NO VOTE until the congressmen and senators have had time to read it. AND, make sure it is published on the internet so we, the people (heard that phrase before?) have had time to read it and make OUR tho'ts known on the issue.
And, to make it a law that each bill will stand on its own merit. If they have to put a lot of freakin' pork @ the end to entice the senators and congressmen to vote on it--it obviously does not have enough merit to become a law. Let each state find a way to fund their own interests. I'm not into paying for research on the one-eyed mullet in the Everglades, or the pot-bellied sow in Tennessee. Some research in some areas are fine, but most researchers need to find a day job. If the one-eyed mullet or the pot-bellied sow research was going to contribute to finding a cure for cancer or cystic fibrosis or something, that would be different.

Good luck! I hope they work all night to get Poppa up and running - Poppa deserves good service.
Like the mill levy increase to pay for the 3I building and lots. When the building and lots were paid for, not only were the city and county councils looking listing projects for the rest of the money to go to (IIRC, it was paid for before the time of the levy increase to expire) but they were also looking for projects to CONTINUE the levy, instead of dropping it like it was supposed to be when voted on.
Interesting news in the great state of Kansas today. Seems there is $2billion or so unused money in the state coffers. 1600+ different little pockets of money earmarked for various and sundry projects and agencies. Probably for the very agengies that are moaning and crying about budget cuts, etc etc etc. Wonder who's in charge of dispensing that money, and if those agengies realize there is money available to them? Some watchdog group (I think, could have just been a state audit group) dug this up. And Secretary of Health, etc ex KS gov Kathleen Sebilious wanted to stop giving state tax refunds, in addition to the other cuts she was proposing. Well, if those agencies not USING the money available to them, I would think their budgets could be cut, as they obviously have money there. Use up what you have, for Pete's sake!!!!:flamemad:
Mornin!
I'll vote for the shore/tree/book option!!! lol;)

Of course, if they were really doing the work of 3 people, they wouldn't have time to stand around and brag/complain about it, ya know!!! They'd be busy working, and everyone would be able to see that, without them having to honk their own horn!!!!;)

I have heard that prep h does wonders. I iced and put on Bactroban and it looks much better thank gawd. I will let ya know bout the book. It may be another week before i can get back at er. Not alot of down time this week. Canadian reviews were good. I luv that Murphy's!!!! Nice clean smell to it. Got the tuition paid and the bed bought so good to go. Yes i cant see myself on a bus. Never been on one that long. It would be so much fun for us to get together when Gator comes. We have friends out on Long Island i am due for a girly weekend. I shall see what i can do. Have fun with the weebles :rose:
I have flown to CA and taken the bus back to KS. Now, the plane was faster, for sure. But, as I was telling God when I was praying for a safe trip, I just don't see how this heavy chunk of metal with all these people and luggage and freight can stay up in the sky!!! But, since most do, I just have to trust that the engineers who designed the planes and the pilots flying them know what they are doing!!!!
I have also traveled by train a couple of times. I kind of like driving--can stop when and where I want, and with the no smoking every where, that would be the only way I could have cig or two on the trip!!!
My dear departed Granny traveled the US of A by Greyhound. When her DD/DIL's were having babies, she was there to help take care of hearth and home and baby. Then, she was making the rounds for the grand children, and then the great grand children. Couldn't get her on a train or plane, no sirree!!!!! I LOVED going to the bus station to see her off or welcome her home--ahhh, the smell of diesel!!! When she died, she was to be returned to MI, and we tried to get her on a Greyhound, but no could do. So, they put her on a plane, she would have died if she wasn't already dead!!! Then, when she did not arrive in MI as planned, they checked and the plane she was on was grounded in Dallas--something about an aborted hijacking or something. She would have loved that adventure, lol!!!!

We have a house full of guns-all stored safely in gun cabinets and always have been. Ammo in seperate lock box. All out of sight. I could not tell ya what key was what. Always on hubbies ring. I live with avid duck hunters. Mr. Beemer does keep a steel baseball bat within arms reach of the bed. He always says they may walk in but they aint walking out. I always remind him to hit in the front-not from behind. I just pray he never needs it.
There are no children in my home anymore. When there was it was different. My wife sleeps with .357 magnum "close at hand." Now, I don't know about others but she can put all six bullets in a 9" pie plate at 25 yards in about 9 seconds. Don't think it would be smart to try her. She can get the Dirty Harry mentality going pretty fast. "Go ahead punk, make me day."

One of the safety managers called me today to ask if I had a hydrogen sulfide program that they could get. WHAT? You are the safety manager, you are suppose to be giving it to me not the other way around. Another asked if I had an OSHA training matrix. WHAT? You are suppose to have that, not me. I have both but only sent them the hydrogen sulfide program. The other I did when they first asked me to and then said no, they didn't want to pay me to do it, the trainer would do it. Well, we see how much he got done. I have it stored away in case I need it one day. I don't mind helping but I am not going to do all the work while they sit on their usless behinds and do nothing.:punch: That is for them.

I remember when I moved into poppa's house shortly before we got married and was dust mopping the floors one day. Something under the end table by the bed snagged on the mop. When I pulled up out I saw it was a hand gun and I almost had a heart attack!
I called him at work and said, Why do you have a gun under the end table and an aluminum baseball bat in the closet? He said I wear suspenders with my belt dear. Now all the guns are locked up and we have alarms that beep when a door or window opens. I remember my mom thinking those electric eyes all over the house were cameras/ She used to wave at them. :)

That is very true deacon! In the insurance industry computers are vital. During the past few years ins providers are asking brokers to fill out ins applications online. No more hand written aps. This is poppa's worst night mare because he is not sensitive to that kind of thing. He started in his 20's and now he's in his 60's. Can't teach an old dog new tricks. He wants every application printed and filed so he can make sense of every client's coverage. Actually that's a good thing because when he gets a call and there are questions, he goes right to his file cabinets and gets the baby out and he knows what's happening.
He drives his agents nuts though. They want to do the click clicky thingy.

I worked in the worker comp arena for a while and still do somewhat and I know about the industry wanting everything on computer. They told my client and I how easy it would be to put my reports on their system and instantly provide a report to the client. I am pretty good with a computer and it took me three times as long to input the information and the client didn't like the reports it generated. Well, when the client ain't happy ain't nobody happy so it was back to the old style. I went by and thanked him.
I am trying to buy some life insurance and all these people want to do is talk to me on the phone. I don't have time to talk to them on the phone during my work day. Just send me the information in the mail, email if you must, and I will go over it and if I am interested, I will fill out the forms either on paper or on the internet but I do not have time to talk on the phone from 7 in the morning until 6 in the afternoon so don't call me. It is like I need to do this at their convience instead of them doing it at mine. Go figure.

Oooo, you re speaking to the company. It's best if you have a sit down with an agent/broker. He needs to set you up with a health physical and ask lots of questions and answer a lot of them too. Well, I can add this to the equation. I weighed myself in preparation for this adventure and for the first time in 25 years, I weigh less than 160 lbs. When I started my last project two years ago I weighed almost 200lbs at 5'7" tall. Not good. No diet, no weird stuff or pills just a lot of walking up and down stairs and up and down hills and I have lost 40 lbs. My wife asked where my "six-pack" was and I told her my Mountain Dew was still in the fridge.
Before the last downsizing adventure, I had great life insurance through the company. Now I don't and the new company has a agent so I guess I will have to see him. By the way, the company that didn't need me anymore, they had an employee die of a heart attack three months ago and no one knew where the AED was much less how to use it. I guess they really didn't need someone like me huh?

Automated external defibrulator. It is an automated form of what EMT's use to get the heart beating correctly. They are in most large malls and cop cars and fire trucks now. It is a part of CPR training now. The person at the plant died because no one knew where it was or how to use it. The nurse was on vacation and no one else knew where to find it or how to use it.
I had to use it once on a friend of mine there. I increases your chance of surviving a heart stoppage by 50%. It didn't work in my friends case. The dr. at the emergency room came out and told me that if he would have been in the er when it happened they would not have been able to do anything. The heart attack was that bad. It may no have helped the other person either but we will never know.
Oh, and I eat things like peanut butter sandwiches, hamburgers, hotdogs, you know, the good stuff. it is the exercise. The last site was 7 floors. Up and down all day. This one is a big hill and a large distance between things. Walk, walk, walk.

I lost my wonderful tennis instructor last year because of the same thing! He went to a swim meet on the weekend and collapsed on the deck. No one defibrillated him :( We came to class on Monday to be greeted by the news...

I wasn't worth a crap for a month after my friend died. BUT, I did everything I could. Every mall I walk into I look for those things on the wall just in case. If a person can be helped, I'll help. Pretty simple, really it is. It will tell you what to do. All you have to do is hook it up.

Oh, and I eat things like peanut butter sandwiches, hamburgers, hotdogs, you know, the good stuff. it is the exercise. The last site was 7 floors. Up and down all day. This one is a big hill and a large distance between things. Walk, walk, walk.
That again, is my pet peeve about the way the world has become lately. It's a mess! What's happening in our culture? No one seems to be alert, efficient, awake! (Not all, but most) Ten leaners to every one lifter and folks like you and poppa and the few who are showing up for life every day have to deal with the leaners.. it's anger making stuff. So when the nurse goes on vacation, people die. Amazing! grrr....
You eat hots and hamburgers.. ??? http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/big/big-smiley-005.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org/free-big-smiley.php)
I hate excercise.. it's boring.

Yeah, I was shown how to use one. If more people were aware that they are so simple to use, and how to spot them...there should be PSA's on tv about this! Why are there not?!
