Yeah.

So what else is new?

You fax or email over your prayer and some guy (or gal) at the other end prints it out and shoves it in one of the cracks, right?

They really should be doing if for free. It is pious good deed to put in someone else's note, someone else who can't get to the WW.

But, heck, they want you to have a pious good deed by supporting them.

I've been in Israel since '74, came from a pretty traditional, but not religious (except for keeping somewhat kosher and lighting candles) house, but at this point these goons have made we almost totally drop connections with the faith I was born with.

These thing seem to happen when religious people, no matter the religion, seem to think they need to force people to be like them. I include ALL RELIGIONS. You should follow a belief because you believe it, not because someone says you must.:flamemad:

You are most welcome. My boss tells me i should open a personal buyer service/concierge service. He says I always know what to buy and where to get it. His wife should appreciate that very much. When I first started working for him she had a quarter carat diamond engagement ring. Now she's up to a two carat stone. He didn't think she'd want a bigger stone. Yeah right, he buys a $60K corvette and she's happy with a quarter carat 30 year old ring? Men...

You maybe missed your calling? Do u get any nice bonus's for all your help? Not that i think u would expect any but........ hey :)

Good for you Marion. I am glad u feel safe as well. Not sure about the dog question. I had a Norfolk/Bichon and he was just the best. I am sure there are some breeds who dont mind being left. If u go with a dog from the say the working class they dont tend to chew everything in sight. That you may want to consider greatly as thats when they do it-when left alone. If all else fails cats never care if u come or go.

An independant lot. They just look at you when you come home like,"where's the food? I want food, now." Oh, the kitten here has a home. I saw it this afternoon at a house right down the street playing on the porch with a little girl about 5 or 6 years old. Cool.:D

I did shed a few tears-It was sooooo emotional. I sure felt for him. Yeah i think he ran outta steam. He sure made it an exciting Open. Gawd to lead all those days just never happens. I am happy for Cink to get his first major. Yeah he is older than me as well. The 16 year old from Italy-cant remember his name looked like he was having the time of his life. He may be someone to watch if he continues and can handle it as he matures

The Open is always good because of the Links Courses they play. Unlike the "Country Club" courses over here, you can loose a ton of strokes on any given hole. Add the wind in and it really gets exciting. There you have to have "touch" as well as length. The courses here do not punish bad shots like those places do. Here you can be twenty yards off of the fairway and still have a shot at the green. There if you are ten yards off of the fairway, good luck. You are in grass up to your ying yang and are lucky to get it back to the fairway. I would love to play one of those one day but I doubt I will ever get there. One of the guys my son went to college with worked an internship at The Old Course at St. Andrews. Lucky dork. He could play on his days off when there was an opening. he was lined up to go back when he graduated. I asked my son if he could hook us up:hat: but he didn't really know him that well.

That would be so cool to play St. Andrew's!!!! Yep that fescule (sp?) I cant imagine. Yeah i like it when the weather gets nasty as it gets so interesting. Can always count on those winds to pick up over there. There were some amazing shots out of the fescule-they make it look so easy. I would be injured badly for sure. I am paranoid if anything is near me in my peripheral. I hit a tree once swinging hard with my pitching wedge-oh man that reverberated straight up my arms and man that hurt for days.

When he missed the putt on 18 I was sure it was over. He decelarated through the ball. The putter did not go as far in front of the ball as it did behind the ball. When you have a 9-10 foot putt the ball must get to the hole. His came up short and I knew it was either physical fatigue or mental fatigue. The ball never made it to the hole. Thinking about it, I would bet on physical fatigue. He is 59 and that is a lot of walking on an unfriendly course in a lot of wind. It had to take a toll on him. I still would have loved to see that putt fall. The crowd would have gone crazy.

Here you go Nawny. And there is a professor at URI checking it out. read bottom of article too.

http://www.greeka.com/cyclades/santorini/santorini-volcano/atlantis.htm

WOW! I just read this entire article and found it informative and yet, isn't it wise to assume it is one of many theories. And yet, I want to eat this stuff for breakfast because the physical proof is leaning toward answers. There are so many facts I don't know, especially about volcanoes. This was interesting stuff.

When we went to Greece, we did visit Santorini. We did a cruise to the Greek Islands. I had no clue of its involvement in the Atlantis mystery. It is a very small Island and all the houses are white and the water was a color I'd never seen in my life. It wasn't blue and it wasn't green. But it took my breath away. I'll dig out the pictures some day.

I loved it. Thank you BoB. :)

I know it would have been such a moment. Amazing for 59 and he does have a bad back. He sure has a love for the game. I'll bet the tiger camp is busy analyzing his probs. I was sorry to see our Mike Weir miss the cut. Good first round. Fell apart on the second. Yeah and the heartbreaker for me with Watson was he has made that putt a bazillion times before.

I'm a librarian at the University -- not what I was thinking of when I was in my 20s, but what I wanted to to at six and seven!

I love the Tel-Aviv nightlife, except it starts too late (maybe it's my age?). T-A is a very safe city, I don't worry about coming home late alone.

People say shopping is good, but I hate to spot, only buy what I need, wear my clothing until it is threadbare to avoid shopping!

Oh, and a question for you all -- I really want a dog, but I know doggies don't like being alone for hours on end. Would like a pug, but guess I'll have to wait 'til I retire.

Are there any doggies that do better on their ownsome for stretches of time? Retirement is over 12 years away!

This in my experience would depend on the dog itself. I have found that when I am not at home for long stretches, my dogs have "hibernated" in my absence, then been real happy and ready to go when I got home, so don't write off getting a dog. You just need the right one. I love pugs. I have known a couple of real characters! They are very smart.

So I can't say breed, but would say not a puppy, get a grown dog, one that has settled.

Thanks to all for the doggie advice.

I think I'll call Let the Animals Live and ask them for their input.

I'm aware of the pug problems, but I think all breeds have something. I love pugs because Hogarth had one, and the are small but not girlish.

Tiger does not play enough. He is at the age where he needs to play more often because his game is not where is should be. You an not play at that level playing once every 3-4 weeks. The pressure isn't there when you practice. It is different when you play by yourself on courses you know like the back of you hand and then play against the best.

Weir is good. He just has those weeks sometimes. He and "lefty" just stand on the wrong side of the ball.

I need to vent (nice way of putting b*tch a bit).

Short version - my mother was in a car accident on June 21. Car totalled. She buys a new car, but won't drive it - still too afraid/hurt. It's been sitting in her garage. She has now driven it, maybe 3 times, and today she drove to her French Club which meets at a college near her house.

My mother parallel parked. A lady driving on a side road, with a stop sign at the end, never slowed down/stopped and plowed into the side of my mother's parked vehicle. It has(d) 24 miles on it.

I'm not done with the paperwork on the last accident! At least she wasn't in the car this time.

Mr. Richardson holds a record that I think will never be broken. He is the only player, ever, to be voted the MVP of the World Series that played on the losing team. Reggie Jackson finally tied or broke his number of RBI's in a World Series but no one has ever done that. He played second base and was my hero growing up. I saw him in BoJangles about three months ago and spoke to him. If you didn't know who he was you would never have an idea he was a proffesional baseball player much less played on the best team ever assembled. That baseball, the last time I checked, was worth about $3000. All the greats are on it. My second favorite was Yogi. I love the Yogiisms. "It ain't over 'till it's over."

Now i feel bad-never dreamt anyone would care with all the bashing that when on that board and i did not want to give out personal info that folks i know could identify me for sure. Sometimes in convo it comes out that i am on here and what i read. So there is my confession. So i am March 23 so we can winter party. So who is next for a birthday-step up and lets celebrate

Here ya go!

Aries Women! By:Linda Goodman!

The ARIES Woman
"But aren't you going to run and help her?"

Alice asked...

"No use, no use!" said the King. "She runs so fearfully quick

you might as well try to catch a BandersnatchT*

So you're in love with an Aries girl. I don't know whether to congratulate you or sympathize with you.

When Byron wrote that "Man's love is of man's life a thing apart; 'tis woman's whole existence," he forgot about j& the Aries woman. She may think love is her whole existence, but she's too vitally absorbed in the world around her, not to mention in herself, for it to be the beginning and end of her life. She can get along without a man easier than any female you'll ever meet.

Of course, getting along without a man is not the same thing as getting along without romance. She'll always need that hero of her dreams to yearn for in her heart. He may be long ago and faraway-or hiding just out of sight and touch, somewhere in tomorrow's mists-but she'll think about him in an April rain. He'll haunt her when the first snow falls, when she hears a certain song or sees lightning flash. However, while she's yearning, if there's no male around in actual physical presence, she won't miss him terribly. Anything he could do, she can do better-she thinks.

Thanks all for the doggie advice.

One thing I will tell you -- no purebred for me! Whatever dog that adopts me, s/he'll be a bit of a mutt, that will meet me at the Let The Animals Live kennels of abandoned mutts.

purebred my foot lol. my father spent 500 dollars on a purebred golden retriever to train for hunting, damn dog is afraid of any loud noise you can imagine. she won't even get in the truck lol

we, on the other hand, got a bull mastiff pit bull mix from some kid and she is the sweetest little thing, about a year old now, and so smart....mutts are the way to go

At least she wasn't in the car this time.

shadydaisy that would make me so mad I cannot tell you. And now I am sure your mother is more afraid than ever. And the roads are clear. no winter excuse. I am sorry that happened. sara :cuss:

Sometimes I wonder where/how these people get their license. Wally world? Sears? K-Mart? Can't figure it out.

What scares me is when I go to the License Bureau and there are people taking eye tests and tests on paper and they do not know any English. What is up with that????? I have seen this many times. My DH and I drive very defensively.......sara

I have been tempted to buy an old NASCAR showcar and put it on the street. At least I would know that my car could withstand the wreck. Wouldn't be very comfortable, but safe.

I am sorry to hear that shadydaisy.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Oh dear i am sorry to hear that. Make her get back in that/any car as soon as possible. When i had my one and only accident i said to my DH I never wanna drive again. He put me in his vehicle literally and said drive-and had me go right past where the accident happened. I was cured. Harder if folks are older tho. So sorry to hear that but glad to hear she is ok :rose:

Her first accident was on a major highway that she has to drive to get to my house. She was leaving my house when the accident happened. I was hoping to get her back on the highway soon. This didn't help my cause.

Sometimes I wonder where/how these people get their license. Wally world? Sears? K-Mart? Can't figure it out.

The first accident was caused by an 85 year old man who decided to make a u-turn in an emergency only turn BUT rather than make the u-turn, he turned head on into the highway and directly in to my mother who was going 65 mph.

WHAT?????? That's a chance in a million. Winning the lottery has better odds!
Poor Mom! Poor YOU!

Why couldn't I have just won the lottery?!

Pete Rose - Pete Rose! 1973: I was at the third game of the playoff series between the NY Mets and the Reds. Fifth Inning - Pete Rose goes barreling into little Buddy Harrelson and basically steamrolls over the guy. Both benches cleared and there was a huge Brouhaha. I was there with my cousins, Janice and Annette. For three girls, we fit right in with the rest of the crowd screaming and yelling. I won't forget it and can't stand Pete Rose. No New Yorker can.

My wife's friend has three dobies in her house. The male weighs in a 120. A little over weight. The two females, not so big. About 65-70 lbs. Great dogs but I wouldn't want to break in there and they know me. When we go over there if the man comes to the door Sam comes and gets his petting on the head and then goes back in the great room. If the lady or one of the two daughters come to the door, Sam comes and gets his petting and then stays between me and who ever came to the door until we get around one of the adults in the family. I thought garlic was okay and it keps away fleas. Onion on the other hand is very bad for dogs and cats. Their livers cannot process it and they can become anemic in just one day. Grapes are also a no-no to dogs.

They will, don't worry they've heard it all. A friend had her nice convertible totalled, got a new car to replace it. 4 days later, her own dad drove into it, took out the door and a quarter panel. She got it repaired, went back to school. One month later, her professor had his grad group go out to a pub to work on their research, then he rear-ended her newly repaired car.

They just laughed and said they'd heard weirder stories, so don't worry!

"In the meantime, Rodney Stafford said he and his estranged wife, Victoria's mother Tara McDonald, will be making funeral preparations in the event their child has been found. He said it will be a private affair for Victoria's family and will not be open to the public."

They are Nothing like the AHoles in Florida who made a horse and pony show of Caylee. Narcisists idiots! CMA Yer ass! DO something decent for a darling little girl, like shutting your stupid mouths.

I hear ya Nawny-that would be a normal response-Not only do i think the truth and the Ant's are strangers ( Strickland referring to Liar) I think we can add normal responses to the list. It is so heartbreaking that the last thing these children see is the face of evil. I am happy that Tori got to look down and see those officers salute as her remains passed by. Dang that killed me :rose: Oh gawd i can hear the tube and heeeee's back-Joe Jackson on LKL woo hoo

Possums and I don't get along either. I lived in the country for most of my life. I had a Boston Terrier who dearly hated those things. She was bitten by one when she was about a year old. The possum was right there the next morning. Every bone in its body was broken. From then on every one who came into her queendom died. Don't mess with a terrier. Those little things can get really mean when they are mad. My dad was out in the yard when the first one happened and said he could hear the bones crack. I don't like those stinky, rotten things.

That's horrible. Will probably take her MONTHS to get behind the wheel again, to say nothing of needing another car.

What scares me is when I go to the License Bureau and there are people taking eye tests and tests on paper and they do not know any English. What is up with that????? I have seen this many times. My DH and I drive very defensively.......sara

Just last month, we watched as a non-English speaking woman was applying for her driver's license (or possibly her learning permit) all thru her husband being the interpreter. If they can't read the signs, how are they going to maneuver? We have had a recent influx of Somalian and Burmese. The racial majority in our county is now Mexican, or Spanish or whatever is the current politically correct jargon these days. Some have been here legallly for years, some were born here when their parents legally immigrated, but there are plenty of illegals around, too. Now, the Vietnamese--they seem to do the learn the English language thing right off the bat, which the other folks don't seem to think is important so much.

Ewwww, I'm a city girl, moved out here near the woods a few years ago. I need to get educated. I never saw a possum in my life before then. I see skunks, Groundhogs and lots of deer in my yard. Especially Groundhogs. Under the dog house is where they live. I don't know what they want or what they eat but they come out at night. The mothballs got rid of the skunks alright. Maybe I should stop feeding the squirrels?

Ahhh, so that's where all my mulberries went to!!! I have a huge tree in my yard and every year we get a huge crop of mulberries. I was looking at it tonight because the weebles are waiting for them to ripen. THey already brought me their baskets. I found so few and I was shocked because this is the season when they usually are so plentiful. THe tree is almost bare. Hmmm, so now I have to google how to get rid of possums. :(

We have some Italian friends who live in the city and tonight they went to my DD's house and brought enormous squash and squash flowers which we flour and fry. THe squash makes a great omelet! I should move back to the city. I didn't make a garden this year but I have several buckets, with tomato, eggplant, pepper, and basil plants. I hope the possums don't get them! Maybe it wasn't a possum I saw. It looked like a possum.. hmmm. Do possums have long rat like tails? I Know it wasn't a rat because it was big. I gotta go google.

Exactly. that is what I think. How can someone drive when they do not even know the language. We have many migrants nearby and they are always getting into accidents. If I moved to another country I would certainly worry if I could talk and understand first. IMO sara

Sheesh...they've lived this long...I must be doing SOMETHING RIGHT!!!

Amy

THere has to be something in this situation that makes sense. Though I'm having a hard time seeing it. All I can say that means something good is, your mom was not in the car the second time. I can understand it if she feels on edge about driving. I hope she has close lady friends who can help her get around until this passes. I know you mentioned that you live a long way from her. You poor girl!

My mother never drove and life wasn't easy after she retired. My car was a virtual Taxi, before, and after work. Not easy.

My Mom spent YEARS taxi-ing the area ladies to and from the bigger towns where there are actually stores. Even my no 90+ y/o aunt who now lives in the country and now drives herself into the little town for the senior dinners. Daddy renewed his license in Nov, but I don't think he has actually driven more than a couple of blocks for @ least a year. He always found some reason for Mom to drive, irritated her to no end. Come to find out, she was having trouble remembering how to get to places she has been driving in for 60+ years!!!

So, last month, they traded their mini van off for a newer version of a mini van. Daddy said he wanted a more reliable vehicle for her if something happened to him. Well, a month ago, "it" happened, he has been in a hospital and now in a nursing home ever since. She hasn't been home to drive her car. Didn't even have all the paper work on it. Now, they will have to sell it. She has deteriorated quite a bit in the memory department (but passed the "test" for Alzheimer's with flying colors, so it is another dementia getting her.) We are letting them be independent as possible (Daddy did NOT pass his Alzheimer's test--and she was the one we were worried about!!!) but driving that car or any other just isn't going to be an option. Not even to go to the community center on the deserted roads in their "town."

[QUOTE=deacon;9204793]That should be fun. Most pups that age get over the sibling thing pretty quick specially when children are involved. I think that the dog thinks that they are getting special treatment because they have weebles to play with and weebles wobble but they don't fall down.

LOL!!!!!!! Yes they do fall down. They slide down my cellar door and they holler about their boo boo's then they go and do it again every time! And yes, True is going to love all the snacks they drop parts of all over nawny's floor!

Now that would have been fun!!! Every time I suggested buying my son one I simply "got the look.":punch: My wife never did like going to amusement parks with us boys when he was little. Dad was the one who got in trouble for bumping people with the go carts. I told him the other week he needed to get married so I could have a grand child to take to the go cart rides. They look at me really funny when I go by myself.

While you're waiting for the grand child, you can always hook up with some kid in Big Brothers Big Sisters--I'm sure there are PLENTY who would love to do the bumper cars w/you!!! Or, heck, tell your son he needs to keep young @ heart, and keep on taking him!! lol

Over the winter, Timmy got into my purse and ate a 2.5ounce bar of dark chocolate with espresso, while we were out of the house for a while.

By the time I realized what he'd gotten into, he'd barfed all over my mom's dove-grey carpeting and he was shaking like a junkie.

I had to take him out on the patio in the snow and pour hydrogen peroxide down his gullet to get the rest out the chocolate out of him.

You'd think he would have learned, but I still have to hide my chocolate from him or he'll eat it till he's sick.

If you pet ever swallows something, call you local poison control hot-line.

They're very used to getting calls about pets, and if they tell you to induce vomiting, use 1 to 2 oz of hydrogen peroxide/pound of dog.

Use a turkey baster to get the peroxide into the dog or they'll just spit it out the minute it starts to fizz on their tongue.

It'll look like they have rabies, but it WORKS!!!

Ah yes, the mothballs help for the skunks. I don't know how to keep the deer away. They ate all the sunflowers in the middle of the bloom, They are beautiful animals but they are a bit destructive. I secretly love seeing them though. Especially when they jump the fence. I live along the Pawtuxet river, so they use my yard as a go between.

It's a difficult time for them yes Amy. I am so sorry :(

My mother showed signs of Alzheimer's for a long time. She was the matriarch of such a huge family and always seemed to have more energy than most her age, but she was saying things and doing things that seemed to make no sense one minute, then the next minute she was cooking Easter dinner without a hitch. I was in complete denial when my sisters would tell me she was off the wall.

Her memory issues were on and off. Her cognitive skills were also inconsistent within minutes. She always looked well put together and yet she would do things like, laugh at inappropriate times. (Giggle rather) My sister moved her to Florida and things got worse. She was only 70 and could not orientate at all. She wasn't the Florida type. Born in th city and knew only the city life, she began to fail more and more. One day she almost burned down the house. She'd call me and beg me to go get her in Fl. I'd go to Florida and get her, bring her back here and she'd cry to go back to Florida. I visited her often and didn't see the problem. For me, she was beautiful, tall, amazing cook, and no matter what she did, I made an excuse for it. She was the typical martyr Italian mother. Kids all around her always. Clean house, lots of fans.

It took at least ten years for me to realize she was suffering with Alzheimer's. When she was 80, I went to Fl to rescue her permanently, thinking I could make her happy here in her old stomping grounds. She was insatiable in the outings I'd take her on. She loved hairdressers, so I took her there. Once we were in the beauty parlor, she sat on the floor. I'd take her out to eat, which she loved and by the time it was time to leave, she'd ask where we were going to sit and what would we order. In stores she was impossible. Her questions were endless. She wore hearing aides and she would take them out and lose them constantly. Batteries too. She'd put laundry in the garbage (where I think it belongs;) and she'd place garbage in the hamper.

My sibs wanted her in a nursing home. I argued and was wrong. After 10 months of trying to make her come back to normal, I almost ended up in a nursing home. Unbelievable!

The mother I knew, that regal lady with all the strength and love for family was long gone. I could not accept it. Her symptoms included being afraid of the coffee pot, using the wrong words, pacing around obsessively looking for something but she didn't know what. (Probably herself) Talking to my father who had been dead for 15 years.

I got online and began my study. There was no doubt that she had Alzheimer's. One of the most poignant things was, she was acting younger and younger until she was a little girl who lost her best friend. I didn't handle it well. But I know I'd be able to spot Alzheimer's in a second.

When she passed away at 82, I realized that she had been gone for some years already. She was getting progressively worse for over ten years. Her death must have been a relief to her, in some ways. The fallout for my kids and I was that she was the puppet master in a family so dysfunctional and when she was no longer here, we saw what she was keeping together. Who knows if that was bad or good, it's just very different without her.

The one good thing in all of that is, She was getting better care in the nursing home. She loved it. When the nurse asked her why she was afraid of the coffee pot, she said, "I've been serving coffee for my entire life. I'm tired of coffee." I stood there in shock! :)

RIP Momma. I miss you. :rose:

Wow, Nawny, so hard! But I am glad she loved the nursing home. It must have been a relief to her to not have to try so hard to do things she just couldn't do anymore...and that bit about the coffee, truly funny! A flash of honesty in that! I wonder what secret dislike we each would reveal, lol!

LOL-don't you just wanna smack them???

My mother is even worse.

Either she's ready an hour before it's even time to leave, and then she *****es, or we're ready and she has to roll her hair, put on her makeup, take a pee, get dressed, get the dogs behind the fence, find her purse, find her shoes, find her keys, take ANOTHER pee, THEN LEAVE!!! Then she *****es that we're gonna be late, and drives like Jeff Gordon.

Or she wants to leave an hour early to get someplace that's 10 minutes away.

So we can get a CLOSE PARKING SPOT. And she already has a handicapped tag...

Thanks Nawny. I will tell DH about mothballs. I love the deer also. Some people in my city do not.... sara

Oh, Nawny, no, you're my mom! She changes my daughter like 3 times a day, all in dresses, like some fashion show *shudder* I like jeans because they protect the little knees in falls. And babies grab the hems of dresses and fling them up, showing their bloomers for all the world to see. So there!

Haaa! Different generations BoB! LOL!!! Ya got me good today! I'm used to it now, but I still buy dresses. NEWBORNS though??? They don't crawl yet and further more their jeans cost as much as ours! They need dresses to crawl down the runway and curtsy! Girls=dresses!
So there!

My babies knew nothing except blue jeans and sweat pants from the get-go, lol. My sister would take DD from the daycare and go to my house, get her a dress to wear, and spent a lot of time doing her hair, bless her heart. Her own DD was 10 when mine was born, and wouldn't sit still for the pampering by that time, so sis was glad to take DD on for the girly frilly stuff. DD's hair wasn't ever a mess w/sis around. Those French braids were hard to mess up!!!

Awww, I love to do their hair too! :) You should see them today,, oy vey! Messy!

Thanks for all your kind words and well wishes.

We are waiting for the adjuster to check out the car and give his verdict. The tow place thinks the car is terminal. The car was hit hard on the side, right where the front door and back door meet, by a Suburban. Something about the frame. Car issues are beyond me. Mom has taken the car rental offered her, so that's a good sign that she will drive again.

Love the yellow lab puppy picture. DH had a yellow lab (Sue) when we met. I had a Bichon. They were both older dogs by the time DH and I married. My dog died shortly after, but Sue went on for a few more years. She was a terrific 2nd mom when my first was born. She adored him, slept under the crib, always hoovering near. When he started crawling I though he would annoy her, she was old, but no, she let him crawl all over her. When he could stand she would lay in front of the kitchen sink and he would step on her like a step stool. I should figure out how to post that picture. I loved that dog.

I know I've mentioned before that DH is a vet. We usually have 5 dogs at one time. Currently we are at three, but DH is starting to talk about getting another pup. Anyway, we have had quite a variety pups over the last 25 years.

Labs are notorious for putting things in their mouths and chewing. DH has had to surgically remove many a foreign object from labs, so be careful. If he does eat a non-food smallish item (think Barbie shoes, legos) feed him pasta, bread and white rice and the item should pass without incident.

No sugar items. Cheerios are ok. No chocolate, especially dark and baking chocolate. This includes chocolate items all wrapped up. The dog will unwrap the package. Many a Whitman's Sampler emergency has been called in.

I know weebles love to share with their puppy. Been there/done that. A lick of a popsicle is ok, a whole pop for a pup, not so good. Pups get intestinal distress easily - think new baby and introduce new foods gradually.

Have fun - I love the goofy puppy faze!

If the frame is bent, you don't want it anymore. Depending on the make, it may not even have a complete frame but is what they call "unibody". In that case you really don't want it anymore. If it is straightened and is just a little bit out you will not be able to align the front and rear ends and the tires will wear out in a very short time.
We had a 1996 Thunderbird, nice car, a "crack head" ran a yield sign and warped the body. Total loss. I just could not find another one. :(

Gator hated them too. He'd trick me into letting him in the yard when he smelled them and then he'd take off like white lightning. I'd end up having to pick up possum pieces.

so i had another doc appt today. everything there went fine, but i was disgusted while sitting in the waiting room.

this woman came in with her little girl and sat down to wait for her name to be called. she sat down and proceeded to read a magazine while she waits...no problem there right? except the very second she sat down and began reading, her child who could not have been more than 3 was running wild. running up to complete strangers and just screaming and running rampant, completely out of control. i thought for sure when the little girl began running circles around an elderly woman sitting across the room that her mother would put a stop to it. but NO, this broad didn't even look up. her daughter actually left MY line of sight, which was way out of where her mother could see her, and the mother just continued sitting there, at one point she begins texting on her cell, she occasionally glanced up to watch her daughters abhorrent behavior, and instead of calling her over to where she was, she just smiled like "oh isn't she just the cutest kid ever" and continued to go about her business. now maybe i am a strict mother, i never thought so before, but who knows....my son NEVER behaves that way in public. we go somewhere, ANYWHERE, and he sticks with me, he doesn't walk away without looking to me for approval first, and he certainly does not use his "outside voice" in a place where it is obviously not warranted, and he doesn't even need me to know when that is.

what is it with parents today? i just don't get it. i see children acting out in public like this and their mothers or fathers just ignoring it in most cases and outright encouraging it in others.

this little girl was talking to strangers, hell, scratch TALKING, she was picking on complete strangers where her mother could not even see her, my son won't say hi to someone even if i am sitting right there next to him, unless he knows the person already he won't even make eye contact. i was appalled with this parenting, or rather the LACK thereof. is it just me? am i overreacting here?

ICK possums are nasty creatures. my mom's dog shreds them as well, nasty mess to clean up, but those evil little rat things get under my house and nest and a couple years ago one died underneath my kitchen in a spot where we couldn't even get it out, our kitchen smelled HORRIBLE for the whole summer that year.

Oooo! Nurse Jackie is on in ten minutes. I love Nurse Jackie!

Yes they have long hairless tails which the use to hang from trees.

Maybe you don't have a good harvest this year because of too much rain. If we have too much rain here too quickly, it can destroy orange crops. The excess water makes them split.

LOL! I know that schpeal too! I remember my own mother doing it to me because food cured everything. And I do it now with my weebs. I also say, tell your mother to cut your hair it's a mess. ;) And I hate jeans on little toddlers. I take them off immediately when they get here, and put soft comfortable jersey pants on them. I tell my daughters, Stop buying jeans for these babies, whaddiya want them to be at age 3, a rock star? I buy them pretty dresses. They still come here wearing jeans. I've seen jeans on newborns.. Moddawnna mia!

When the little ones said, Nawny why don't you like jeans? I say, because you're too small to wear those and they hurt. Then I say, "Aye, who's the boss?" They all say Nawwwwneeeeee!

LOL! God love them!:rose:

It's now 3:53am... I woke up on the couch. I'm going to go crawl upstairs now.

Being the only girl, I had beautiful dresses when I was little. I remember almost everyone because they were so uncomfortable. They all had layers and layers of tulle or that stiff itchy stuff that made the dresses stand out. I was a child of the early 60's. When you sat down, you had to place your hands on either side of you or your lap because the dress would pop right up!

You are not over-reacting. That mother was totally clueless. You are bringing your child up to be respectful and observant of others. I know it's more difficult to do the right thing rather than let children just run amok. You will be so grateful ten years from now when you have a little gentleman instead of a rude know it all. What did the insurance co say? We'll have it fixed. When I finally got the car back, there was just this little noise and odd shake of the backend that worried me to no end. I was always afraid the back was going to fall off or something.

So, I traded it for a sweet little Firebird. :) Well, I guess that tells me how long ago it was. I bought a brand new off the floor '75 Firebird for the exorbitant cost of $5000!!!!! lol

JLette - you are correct. Don't let the overly permissive, inattentive parents get to you. You will be up again them for a long time - sorry to say! My last one just finished high school. It doesn't end with grade school. You have rules and kids need rules. The best compliment I ever received from my son, now entering his 3rd year of college, was he was glad I told him that the world didn't revolve around him and he learned his lesson. He comes across other students who still have not been told that, and they have not figured it out on their own.

There was one time when we were in WallyWorld, the kids were misbehaving. I told them, you straighten up or we walk right out of here. They tested me. Wrong move. We walked out, leaving everything in the cart. Boy, was that mean!!! Didn't have any trouble w/them in the store any more, for sure.

Except the one time, one was in the seat, the other in the basket. One was complainging the other did something. I said, "Is anyone bleeding or dead?" The answer was no, so I told them to cut it out and don't bother me. The lady nearby looked @ me kind of funny, then laughed. The kids kept their hands to themselves and quit whining, which was the result I wanted.

aww those are the cutest little dresses, seems like a type of torture for little girls tho LOL especially the ones who just wanna climb trees and play in the mud like the boys

I had dresses like that (I'm 54) and had a love hate relationship with them. They were so pretty but horrible for playing and the farking petticoats itched!!!

I only wore them on holidays, and we always tore out one of the many petticoats.

And I had lots of cool stuff to wear for messy playing but couldn't climb trees because of the brace.

Can I ask you why you wore a brace Marian? When I was a little girl, my best friend who lived across the street had polio and wore a brace. I was her little protector. I was also a Tom Boy, and no one got near her without the OK from me. No one messed with little Nawny.

I'm a little older than you and in those days those braces were so heavy and encumbersome. I knew how to take it off her and put it on her. Her leg was operated on many times. I taught her how to ride her bike and always walked slowly when we were together so she could keep up. It was a good lesson in compassion for both of us as children. My friend did well and became a wonderful nurse.

Thanks for the links Marian. I just read about something I've never known about, it was pretty unusual stuff. I read the site that mentioned Charnley-Williams research and reports about that condition. Brilliant man. I grew up with a guy that had something like MD sort of. I once kew what it was but can't remember. EVERYONE was his protector. Shoot you didn't mess with Butch you would have the whole class on your butt. I remember he absolutely refused to cross the stage at graduation in any fashion but walking. He had help from the guy in front of him and the guy behind him getting up and down the steps and got a standing ovation from all of the graduates. It was kinda cool. I know that doesn't often happen but it did to him. We, as a group, would not allow people to pick at him.

I see kids out here act up all the time and the parents don't say a word to them, it is like they tune them out and the rest of us have to suffer, but you all know me!!! I WILL speak up to these morons and have done it many times!! Back when I still lived in VT, I treated my sister to a Sunday dinner at our favorite restaurant. We had our cocktails in hand and we were just talking and these three little brats started banging on the table with their spoons, screaming at the top of their lungs for ice cream. Here sits the yuppie parents, just sitting there like lumps in their ski outfits, drinking wine and just ignoring their brats! They kept doing it, till I had had enough and I stood up and walked over to the table and I told those morons to chill their kids, that I wasn't paying $20 a meal to listen to their bratty brats and then I looked at them and told them to "SHUT THE HELL UP!!!! The whole dining room got as a quiet as a tomb, and then these old ladies that were sitting across from us started clapping!!! And others followed and people came over from the other dining room to see what was going on and so did some of the kitchen folks!!! Our waitress looked at us with with a thank you look and an old man who was with his son offers to pay for our meal for having the balls to do with what the whole place wished they could have done! We did accept a cocktail but that was it and as for this idiot family? Dad threw money on the table and mama herded them all up and they beat feet out of there very fast!!!! And you could tell by the shocked looks on those kids faces that was the first time anyone told them to shut up!!!!

Another time I had a run in with a pile of yuppies was at the pizza restaurant I worked at. It was typical Friday night bedlam and during the height of summer tourist season and there was this couple with the brattiest little boy! Al kids have to remain in their seats for obvious reasons and no matter what mama said, this kid proceeded to start running around and everyone of my waitresses have to dodge this brat with trays of hot food, so I got a coloring book and crayons and handed it to the kid. Now most kids will dig this right? Not this beast! The parents are drinking beers and holding hands and here is their brat running around, disturbing other guests and as I head over there, Janie is carrying a huge tray of hot hot food and that baturd brat hurls the cup of crayons on the floor and she trips on them and the tray goes flying! Luckily, no one was hit with the food, but she was highly upset and I told these dolts they had to leave, that they had been told TWICE to chill the beast and that if anyone had been hit with the food that they could have been seriously burned and the Dad whines about their food and I told them if it was ready, they could take it to go and it was and this cretin did not even want to pay!!! I said fine, but we would call the cops and one of my guys went out to their car where mama and the brat were and got their tag number just in case and this loser hands me the exact amount, therefore stiffing Janie!!! I ended up giving her a tip later on because she was a gem and I did not want her all upset because of these MASSHOLES!! Our word for obnoxious people from MA!

Now I have told people off here at Walmart and out here because people tend to have rafts of kids, they look at me like I am a complete asshole and how dare I complain about their little darlings?? I told this woman off not too long ago at Meijer, this beast was pissed off because momma would not buy him any candy and Geez, there is 5 non candy checkouts, and after kicking her and the cart, he hurls himself to the floor and starts howling and beating his head on the floor and mama? ON THE FREAKING CELL PHONE!!! I yelled at her to get her ass off that phone and to chill that brat because no one needs to see or hear him wail and she gives me this filthy look and so did the woman behind me and I could have cared less!! Last week wherever I went, I heard this girl screaming and wailing, she was about 2 and daddy was ignoring her completely and I went over to the pet center and where does daddy go? The brat wanted to get out of the cart and look at the birds and the fish and he took her out of the cart and she proceeds to run down the aisle and started kicking the side of one of the bird cages and I was like that is it!! I said to him that he needed to chill her out now and he tells me to get f*cked???? Luckily, the manager heard every word as he was unloading boxes and he told this hillbilly that her behavior and HIS was unacceptable and that they had to leave! This slob with only one tooth in his head tells him he going to complain to Walmart and the guy tells him to go right ahead and this loser takes off, yelling he was going to sue??? So yeah, I do first hand how lousy parents can be and J? Tell them off, it works!!!

Yes, twice. I loved it in the rainforest and the beach, away from San Juan.

We'd drive along these little roads to the rainforest and men would be on the side of the road, selling fresh coconuts which they would crack open and stick a straw in for you to drink the milk.

OMG! I would love to see that! I had a good friend from PR. He passed away recently but he'd tell me all about it. He came from a wealthy family and his house was on high ground and I always wanted to go there. I hear its just beautiful. Maybe we can go after Cocoa beach? I'd love it! I'm not sitting in this house all winter ever again. That was torture last winter!

Seems everyone is having crazy weather. Today is very very humid!!! Threatening storms on my golf league day :cuss: I woke up with a full head, runny red eyes-no sam not from our party hangover LOL. Allergies are in Mach 90 mode. So allergy tab and eye drops and good to go:shrug:

There you are cutie pie! Ah ha, you look just like I imagined. You barely reach his shoulder... I used the wrong word before, you're not skinny, you're small. To me everyone smaller than me is skinny. ;) It's the language in my world. You gotta eat! Come see us Rhode Islanders, I'll make you a size bigger in a hurry.

I don't do too bad at reading the greens. I was better at it until my son told me about the grain or how the grass grew. Now, I just believe I think too much instead of picking a line and getting the speed right. Speed is a problem sometimes. When I go from playing at home and go to Myrtle Beach I keep putting the ball wayyyyyyy past the hole. Those greens down there are normally pretty fast and the ones around home are fairly slow. Drives my son crazy when he comes home and we play. I just laugh and tell him the last hole was slow why do you think this one would be any faster. Duhhhh.

(He picks at me about putting the ball so hard down there so I return the favor.)

Nawny you are just right  Well we never took our clothes off LOL Its a class taught here at a local gym-strippersize or belly dancing. So a bunch of my gal pals and i took it. Great ab workout. Like i said when i took a run at that pole i promptly slid down and landed on my azzzz  It was our last class when she brought in wine, cheese and her portable pole  The wine didn't even help. We did laugh our azz's off for sure :D

That sounds like so much fun Beemer! It's been a long time since I had a group of friends to hang with. When I lived in Conn I had a great bunch of friends. I moved back to RI (I'm a native) in 1981 and we lost touch for one reason or another. I remember the laughs we had. It sounds like you have a great group there! You go girl! Betcha you're the funniest of all! :)

Remember, even the pros have bad days. Tiger missed the cut at The Open. I didn't expect a win but I did think he would make the cut.

You win some, you lose some, and some are called because of rain.

Well Nawny white is good cause you can buy a little bottle of whiteout that you would use with a typewritten page to cover mistakes and apply it on the grout with the brush that comes in the little Bottle of it. Might make it too white I do not know personally what your grout looks like and if I was there I probably would not make it a strong point to check out your grout. LOL sara

Knowing your house is so magnificent your grout all over is probably white!!!

Nawny, grout can be sealed so it is no longer porous and doesn't get stained - it still gets dirty but it washes off.

Thanks Sara. I did have success with the kitchen grout with Orange Zep Cleaner. It works great on white but the problem is, the floor stays slippery. Then I had to rewash it a few times with plain water to get it to stop being slippery. I regret the white grout and the white tile. It's the bane of my existence. I'm a floor freak. I want to re grout the entire floor.
I try not to look at it. :o I'm going to try that whiteout.

I did the sealer thing. It was a spray, but it didn't work too well. Once I get it white again I'm going to get a better sealer. Too many feet in this house. And a dog! ;) It was a bad choice for color.. I'm such a stunodd!

My son is a trip. He is on twitter now and was talking with one of the pros the other day about the driver he has now. They were all above my head with the technical jargan. Then we find out he has been sending Morgan Pressel tweets or what ever they are called. I did pick at him a lot about that. Now that would be a daughter in law to have. I could get her to play in the captains choice tournaments we play in. He He. I am sure that would really happen. :hat:

The two funniest things I saw: a couple of obviously SoCal girls in destroyed jeans, you know, with the enormous holes in them, $250 + a pair? You guessed it-they were freezing! Because their clothes had holes in them! On purpose! hahhahahha!

And the family with the women in full burkas shivering like crazy-how can they be so cold, wearing so many layers?
