William you are way too funny. You know I am so glad Obama asked that pilot who landed in the Hudson River to his inauguration along with the pilot's crew. Make me cry and DH gets mad at me crying. I told him what other president would do something like that. He is such a man of the people. Spent the day at a VA hospital today. I am waaay too excited about tomorrow. you can be retentive all you want and I will not make fun. Sometimes I do things around the house and DH looks at me like I am wierd even though we have been together 10 years. I just tell him it is a "Monk thing" and to leave me alone. For instance I do not touch money unless I wash my hands afterward. Do you feel better now? Sorry this is off topic but so is your retention!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is a man of the people, but they're still going to take away his Blackberry.
Hubby should never get mad at you for crying about anything.
It's cool to be monkish now.
Money is dirty, smart to wash hands.
Yes, I do have problems, but there's enough of me to deal with each one.

Sincerely, Not So Anal Retentive.

God Willing, today at noon a new nation will be borne, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all people are created equal. I am far too happy today as the dreams and hopes of so many Americans are nearing fruition. God Bless America, my home sweet home.:rose::rose::rose:

This a historic day, and I wish with all my heart that I could rejoice. . . unfortunately, there are those who will remain without any rights, and the atrocities against them will only increase under Obama's administration. Not good news for some. But, I will respect y'all's good-news party, and will refrain from further comment.

I do not know who does not have any rights in America and I am interested in getting your thoughts on this. I do believe that unequal rights remain and see this as a possible step in the right direction. I cannot predict the future but this is just one of my anal retentive things. Obama becomes the 44th President. The sum of those digits is 8. The difference between the years 2009 and 1776 is 233. The sum of those digits is 8. 2 is the only even prime number. 2 to the 3rd (which can be said to be representing, the Holy Trinity) is 8. Perhaps, this is God's plan to start making opportunities equal or even, if you will.

Agreed. I also agree with the commentators, who did not find President Obama's address his most eloquent, I found the seiousness and somberness tone to speak volumes as to his commitment, dedication and his dream for America.

The most heart felt commentary came from Juan Williams, imho, a most unlikely source. He brought forth the spirit of America and in some way had to face his own self. I appreciated him and looked at him in a new more refreshing light in that commentary.

You know I am not sure what you mean either FDI unless it is the thousands of missing and murdered victims we have not solved. I am happy to think that Obama is going to get our troops home and help the economy if he sticks to his goals and to be real it has not been good. still waiting for DH to lose his job. He works with office furniture and they have all been laying off. at which point we will probably have to move in with you. Please make sure is it warmer there.

OH Luke You always post the best pictures and I thank you again. It was such a wonderful day and the Obamas have such class. Michelle looked wonderful in both outfits. Barak was just such a human being in his speech and behavior. Very much not the celebrity type but still good. the only part that bothered me was when they got out of the vehicle at the parade. He has got to be smarter than that. they both do. we need them

It was her singing of "Ain't No Way" that put me to sleep and woke me up. She was like poetry to the souls of many GI's who longed for the comforts of home.

I had placed this on another thread. However, I think it is more appropriate on this thread and this was my attempt to add a contribution to the respect due America and the Civil Rights Movement.

"------------------God's Plan

On and on their weakened tired arms did turn the oar
Against the ocean ran red with ancient blood
Onward toward the foggy shape of a distant shore
As if their tearful eyes did cause the flood.
From the distance rang out a voice unmistakably clear
Strain, strain do not forget the goal
Remember those that struggled, hold the vision dear
You are the youth of those grown old
Draw upon the ancient strength to bolster your will
With vigor fresh continue the struggle, with hope anew
To climb that insurmountable hill
And eventually you will see your arrival at
---------1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

All Manner of insults and accusations did they throw
However they failed to dent his shield
In awe they watched this valliant warrior as his popularity did grow.
In somberness they watched as he climbed the hill
What manner of man is this who marches forward promising change
What they did not know and could not feel
Was that it had been foretold written in the Bible it said the same
It was not theirs that counted but God's will
With all they did and tried they realized it was not adequate to stop
For the Bible, God's words, had sealed the deal
It had been written that before the end of time
--------the bottom shall rise to the top. "

My original thought that Americans and all others are one under God.

I agree with you and he has already faced some controversy with Gitmo and the two rappers. Some want him to speak out against them. I am torn on that issue as to what he should do, only because of the First Amendment. I think most realize that is not his position and I do not see the need for him to speak out and I am mindful of your signature and hope he will keep the thread open. :)

William Anthony

I believe that President Obama is on the right path as it pertains to improving America's global image with the Executive Orders he has signed in regard to Gitmo and the use of terrorism to gain information. I do understand the practical use of that tactic but there have been interrogators, who have stated the tactic did not work.
