an airbus going from LaGuardia to Charlotte Crashed into the Hudson River today saving all aboard. Apparently seagulls got into both engines after take off. Pilots did an incredible smooth landing job into the river. Few injuries is te worst we have. More on CNN. I cannot do links yet since I got my laptop back from being repaired but thought you all might want to hear good news. sara

YAHOO (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090206/ap_on_re_us/plane_splashdown_pilot)

NEW YORK – New York City never got a chance to say a proper thank you to the pilot who miraculously landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River last month, saving the lives of all 155 on board. Now he's coming back for his hero's welcome.

Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and his flight crew are set to be honored by Mayor Michael Bloomberg at City Hall on Monday, where they will be given a key to the city.

Sullenberger and his family also plan to take in a Broadway show and perhaps enjoy a little free time in the city that Bloomberg says is inspired by his brave actions.

The pilot and the mayor last spoke at the scene of the rescue operation on Manhattan's west side, hours after Sullenberger glided the Airbus A320 into the frigid water in what Gov. David Paterson called a "miracle on the Hudson."

Both engines lost power in the Jan. 15 incident — a moment that Sullenberger, in a "60 Minutes" interview, said was "the worst sickening, pit-of-your-stomach, falling-through-the-floor feeling" he's ever had. The interview with Katie Couric will air Sunday.

"A spotlight was trained on Sullenberger in the audience, and the crowd stood, cheered and applauded. The pilot's wife, Lorrie Sullenberger, began wiping tears from her face. He hugged her, then turned back to the crowd and waved as the cheers grew still louder." Aw!! A man said, "It was quite exciting just to see this guy who saved so many lives," with his wife adding, "It's so nice to have a hero who's a real hero, instead of movie stars."
