Firefighters aid search for missing girl

Chicago firefighters are helping a colleague's family search for their missing 15-year-old missing.jpgdaughter, last seen heading to Lincoln Park High School on a CTA bus Monday morning.

About 50 other firefighters and paramedics joined Fabian Muentes canvassing businesses in the neighborhood and handing out fliers for his daughter, Tisha.

Tisha, a sophomore at Lincoln Park High School, was last seen leaving her grandparents' home Monday morning. She called a friend at 7:20 a.m. Monday, saying she was on a Halsted Street bus and on her way to school, her dad said. Her parents said she never turned up in school that day. They said she doesn't have a boyfriend and a quick look at her MySpace page has not turned up anything unusual.

"I hope and pray that she ran away," Fabian Muentes said. "I don't want to think the worst, but she's not that kind of kid. She's never been a runaway. When she gets upset, she just goes into her room and reads a book."

Fabian Muentes is a firefighter at Engine No. 91. Tisha's mother, Kristin McCluskey, is a paramedic on the city's South Side. The couple have been divorced for 13 years. On nights where both parents work, Tisha would spend the night at her paternal grandparents' home, said Fabian Muentes. He said he got worried when she didn't call him after school Monday. That was not typical of her, he said. Her parents filed a missing person report Monday evening and then began putting posters up and down Halsted Street from Belmont Avenue to Division Street.

Tisha was last seen wearing a light brown, furry coat that was big for her. She was wearing jeans and a beige scarf and gloves. She often wears her hair in a bun.

Police said the case was under investigation.

Anyone who may have seen her is being asked to call 773-410-6611 or 773-791-8473.

CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Chicago firefighters and paramedics are helping to search for the missing daughter of two of their colleagues.

It is 15-year-old Tisha Muentes who is missing. The last time she was heard from was Monday morning at 7:20.

She said she was on a bus headed south on Halsted around Diversey, headed for class at Lincoln Park High School, and she called a friend to ask her to save a seat for her.

Both Tisha's parents are paramedics with the fire department - and their colleagues are helping them search the North Side.

Firefighter-Paramedic Fabian Muentes is Tisha's father.

"If anybody has seen her, or if Tisha is listening, just call. Call someone just to let us know that you're OK. We want you home and we love you and we care a lot about you. That's all we ask."

Muentes says authorities want to look at video taken by cameras on Halsted CTA buses to see if that will help find Tisha Muentes.

Muentes says Tisha is 5'1", about 100 pounds. He says she has dark wavy hair that was in a bun when she left the house Monday. He says Tisha was wearing a light brown furry coat with a beige scarf and gloves and jeans. Muentes says Tisha has a lot of freckles.

Anyone with information should call Grand Central Area detectives at (312) 746-8365.

. . . . . Family Photo - Tisha Muentes hasn't been seen since she left for school at 7 a.m. Monday.

The firefighter father of a missing North Side teenager on Wednesday plans to board the Chicago Transit Authority bus his daughter rode everyday to talk to people and hand out flyers in his hunt for the missing 15-year-old.

Fabien Muentes says he's teaming up with fellow firefighters and his daughter's friends and teachers to ask for help, about 48 hours after Tisha Muentes was last seen.

he's teaming up with fellow firefighters and his daughter's friends and teachers to ask for help, about 48 hours after was last seen.

The teen left her home for school at around 7 a.m. Monday and hasn't been seen or heard from since.

Tisha Muentes was on her way to Lincoln Park High School, on a CTA bus, but never made it to school, a missing person alert from Grand Central Area detectives said.

Muentes' mother, a paramedic, and her father joined members of the fire department spent Tuesday canvassing the Lincoln Park and Lakeview areas.

Her friends, also aiding in the search, say they're worried because falling out of contact is out-of-character for the teen.

"I've known her since kindergarten. This is not typical of her," one friend said.

A sophomore, Muentes would have taken the Diversey bus to Halsted, then transferred to the Halsted bus, as she does every morning, but she never made it to class Monday.

Friends have taken the search online, creating a page on the social networking site Facebook in order to solicit information. A post on the site says Muentes was on one of the buses.

Muentes' friend, Amanda, was the last to talk to her.

"I called her in the morning at around 7:20, because we have first period gym together," Amanda said.

The flyers, and the level of anxiety, are going up as the hours go by with no sign of Muentes.

"We love her and we want her to come home," Muentes mother, Kristen McCluskey, said through tears.

Muentes stands about 5 feet tall and weighs 105 pounds. She has brown eyes, black hair and an olive complexion.

Anyone with information should call Grand Central Area detectives at 312-746-8365.

update on Trevor J. Boehm

The body of a young man found in Lake Michigan over the weekend is that of missing Northwestern University student Trevor J. Boehm, the school announced Monday evening.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office Monday notified Northwestern University the body was that of Boehm, 20, a first-year student from Monument, Col., who had been reported missing Nov. 9, according to a release from the school.

On Nov. 13, his jacket, which contained Boehm’s Northwestern identification card, keys, and cell phone, was found among the rocks on the shore of Lake Michigan on Northwestern’s Evanston campus.

An autopsy Monday found that the young man died from drowning, but the manner of death, whether it was an accident or a suicide, was pending further investigation, according to the medical examiner's office.

“Our hearts go out to Trevor’s family and our thoughts are with them at this time,” Northwestern University President Henry S. Bienen said. “The death of one of our students affects the entire Northwestern community. We join the Boehm family in mourning the loss of Trevor.”

Boehm was a student in Northwestern’s School of Communication and involved in theater productions on campus.

Members of the Northwestern University Counseling and Psychological Services staff have been notified and are available to students, the release said.

Boehm's body was spotted in the lake off Montrose Harbor Sunday about 7:20 a.m.
