UPDATED MONDAY, 11/10 AT 6 P.M.
Alisha Sidie’s two-year-old twin boys point to a picture of their mother, as their father Doug Sidie holds them close Monday morning.
"I hope she comes home,” says Sidie, Alisha’s ex-husband.
While holding onto his sons, he also holds out hope for finding Alisha, who has been missing since Friday night around 9pm.
"She brought the boys home. There was a short argument between us two, and then she left on foot,” recalls Sidie. “That’s all I know, for now.”
Around 9:19pm, one of Alisha’s friends say she received a voice-mail from Alisha, frantic and asking for help. However, the Jackson County Sheriff would not say whether the call was panicked.
"We do know she made a couple of phone calls right there after 9 o'clock,” says Sheriff Duane Waldera. “As to what was in the phone calls, I do not know."
Right now, the Jackson County Sheriffs Department and Sidie's family and friends are concentrating their search around Hatfield, within walking distance of her home.
More than 50 people showed up to help on Monday, first signing up at the Hatfield Fire Department and then congregating at The Mug tavern. The first group of 25 family and friends headed out to search the woods near the East Arbutus County Park, off of County Highway K.
Canine units had heavily searched the area between County Highway K, Clay School Road, nearby railroad tracks and a river. Luther Midlefort’s Medlink helicopter also surveyed the area from the skies, looking for any signs of Alisha.
"I do not have any information that would say that she’s not alive,” says Sheriff Waldera.
Though the search parties will stop at nightfall, her family and friends vow to keep looking until she’s found.
"We just want her to come home,” pleads Doug Sidie. “Whatever happened we just want her to come home."
As of 10 p.m. Monday, there have not been any signs of Alisha Sidie.
Sheriff Waldera says he's treating this as a missing person’s case. So far, he says he doesn't have any reason to suspect foul play.

27-year-old Woman Missing in Jackson County
The search for a missing mother is on hold Monday night after hours of combing the hills and forests of Jackson County. Dozens of people searched for the 27-year-old who was last seen Friday night.
"My mama... My mama,” one of Alisha Sidie’s two-year-old twin boys asks for his mama. His father tries to comfort the toddler, “Yeah, that's your mama, buddy," Doug Sidie tells him.
Doug Sidie cuddled his two two-year-olds on a cold Monday morning, before leaving the little ones to search for their mother.
"She's young. She's fun-loving. She's a good mother. She's great with the kids," he says.
But now, the 27-year-old is missing; her friends and family scoured the woods near the Hatfield home she shared with her ex-husband.
"A lot of good friends have gotten together and gotten fliers out,” Doug Sidie tells us. “She has a lot of good family and friends."
Doug Sidie says Alisha came home Friday night around nine o'clock and they had an argument. He says that's when Alisha left. When his ex-wife still wasn't home Saturday afternoon, Sidie called the sheriff's department.
"We've had our canine unit out once before. (Monday,) we have it out again to see if we can narrow down the area where she walked from the house and base our search for Alisha in those areas," says Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera.
Sheriff Waldera says investigators are looking into a number of leads, including Alisha's cell phone records. One of Alisha's friends tells WEAU 13 News that Alisha left her a voice-mail panicked and asking for help. That’s something the sheriff wouldn't confirm.
"All we know is she walked away on Friday night and it's now Monday morning and we haven't come across her,” Waldera says. “I don't have any information saying that she's not alive. We're hoping for the best and there are a lot of people praying for a safe return."
A return to the people left hugging and hoping that their prayers are answered.
"We just want her to come home. Whatever happened, we just want her to come home,” Doug Sidie says, still hugging his boys and holding a picture of their mother.
Alisha Sidie has brown hair and brown eyes. She's 5’4 and approximately 125 pounds. Her friends say she was last seen wearing light blue scrubs and a long-sleeved white T-shirt.
If you have any information about this missing person’s case, call the Jackson County sheriff's department at 715-284-5357.

The family of a missing Jackson County woman needs your help to find her.
Jackson County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Mark Moen says 27-year-old Alisha Sidie (Rowley) was last seen November 7 in the area of Hatfield in Jackson County between 9:00pm and 10:00pm. Her family reported her missing Saturday evening.
Sidie is described as 5'4" tall, abougt 125 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on Sidie is encouraged to contact the Jackson County Sheriff's Department at 715-284-5357. Family says Alisha was wearing light blue scrubs and a long-sleeved white t-shirt.
Search dogs picked up Alisha's scent Monday afternoon, but the search has turned up nothing so far. Gundersen Lutheran's MedLINK helicopter is assisting in the search as well. Search crews were also using boats to search areas along Lake Arbutus and the Black River
Sheriff Duane Waldera says the search will continue until nightfall Monday, and will continue Tuesday if needed.
Alisha's husband, Doug, says his wife returned home Friday night from work. Doug Sidie says the two had an argument and Alisha left.
Alisha's sister Tracy says Alisha works at the Black River Chiropractic Clinic and the Sunset Tavern on Old Highway 54 east of Hatfield.
Tracy says this is out of the ordinary for her big sister, who is the oldest of three sisters. Tracy says Alisha has twin sons, who are two-years-old, and would have taken them with had she left for somewhere.
Tracy describes her big sister as "outgoing" and "fun to be around."
Jackson County Sheriff's Department investigators say they have not had any previous calls to the Sidie residence.
NewsChannel 8 has a crew in Jackson County covering this story, and will have more tonight during the 5:00 and 6:00pm newscasts.

Short clip about Alisha on Nancy Grace tonight (9/10ths down the length of the page)....
Quickly, shifting gears to a missing mom. Take a listen to this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Nearly 100 volunteers combed the woods and waters of Hatfield, Wisconsin, searching for 27-year-old Alicia Sidie. She was sighted leaving her home Friday night allegedly after a fight with her husband.
She was alone and on foot. No one has seen or heard from her since. Canine has tracked her scent near the railroad tracks and (INAUDIBLE) in the southeast portion of town. But divers and searchers have come up empty handed.
Until Alicia is found, her family will hold on to hope.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
GRACE: We contacted Alicia Sidie`s husband about her disappearance. And he seemed to be angry on the telephone and would not come on air to answer questions.
To Sheriff Duane Waldera, with the Jackson County Sheriff`s Department joining us, Black River Falls, Wisconsin -- Sheriff, thank you for being with us.
Sheriff, was there an argument with the husband just before she disappeared?
SHERIFF DUANE WALDERA, PIO, JACKSON COUNTY SHERIFF`S DEPT. ON THE CASE: Yes, there was.
GRACE: What was it over, Sheriff?
WALDERA: Apparently there is some problems in the past and they are talking about childcare issues. The specifics on the argument aren`t really -- we are trying to track down based on what we got from Doug right now. That`s all the information we have to work off of so.
GRACE: Back to Sheriff Duane Waldera, joining us from Jackson County Sheriff`s Department. Sheriff, what were the circumstances surrounding her disappearance? When did it go down?
WALDERA: Well, from what we have right now is that the initial argument or last time Alicia was seen was received by the husband Doug. And it was on November 7th, right around 9:00 p.m., between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. we did not receive a report of a missing person until November 8th in the evening hours, around 6:00.
GRACE: 24 hours later?
WALDERA: Yes.
GRACE: OK. That doesn`t look good.
Out to Dan O`Donnell, reporter with 620 WTMJ.
Dan, thank you for being with us. Fill me in. What happened?
DAN O`DONNELL, REPORTER, 620 WTMJ COVERING STORY: Well, at about 9:00, Alicia came home from work. At some point shortly thereafter she got in an argument with her estranged and reconciled husband Doug.
And then according to the sheriff`s department, one of Alicia`s friends received a voice mail at about 9:19 and a local TV station is reporting that she sounded panicked and asked for help. And as the sheriff said, about 21 hours later at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, her husband Doug first reported her missing.
GRACE: To Dr. Marty Makary with Johns Hopkins -- Doctor, if Alicia was somehow trapped outside in the Wisconsin cold, how long could she last?
MAKARY: Well, we know she was wearing a long-sleeved shirt and scrub- like pants, like the type worn in hospitals. After 24 to 48 hours, severe hypothermia will set in. My concern is you lose your orientation and just feel tired and you don`t know your way home.
GRACE: Unleash the lawyers, Ray Giudice, Michael Mazzariello.
Michael, I find it very unusual that the husband isn`t going all over the media begging for help finding his wife.
MAZZARIELLO: But I understand he`s looking for her and doing what he has to do at -- at the location, Nancy.
GRACE: Ray, would you address my question?
GIUDICE: Well, Nancy, the sheriff was just on and he didn`t give one scintilla of evidence that this gentleman is a suspect nor.
GRACE: That`s not why I asked you.
GIUDICE: Why should he do anything more? He`s cooperating with law enforcement. He doesn`t need to come on this show.
GRACE: You know what? You don`t have to do anything, right?
GIUDICE: He needs to cooperate with law enforcement.
GRACE: You`re right.
Dr. Patricia Saunders, you`re right. You can sit back on a recliner and eat popcorn and watch TV if you want to. But if somebody in my family were missing I would use every possible outlet to find them.
I mean we just saw Dave Holloway. You remember what they went through trying to find Natalee?
SAUNDERS: I sure do. This -- he waited 24 hours to report her. And if she did call someone because she was panicked and asked for help I think it`s interesting she called a friend and not her ex-husband.
GRACE: He is not a suspect.
Doctor -- excuse me, I`ve already gone to Dr. Makary.
I want to go to Mike Brooks, former fed with the FBI. Weigh in, Mike.
MIKE BROOKS, FMR. DC POLICE DETECTIVE SERVED ON FBI TERRORISM TASK FORCE: My questions are of the sheriff. What was the activity on her cell phone? Where were the different cell towers when that call was made? Was there any activity on her ATM? Was there a search warrant conducted? Where is the -- her computer taken? Who was she contacting 24 hours up to this? What was he doing also?
These are all questions that I would have and I`m sure the sheriff is working on that.
GRACE: The tip line 715-284-5357. 284-5357.

Volunteers come up empty-handed on second day of search
Hatfield, WI - It's day two of the search for 27-year Alisha Sidie and today her disappearance still remains a mystery.
Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera says, "We've done a pretty good job of covering a lot of area now, but still coming up short on information and the whereabouts of Alisha."
Jordann Ojanpa says, "This has been the biggest challenge in the search efforts. Hatfield is completly covered in wooded areas. In over three hours, 160 volunteers could only cover 3 1/2 miles of woods."
Searches now face the daunting task of sifting through brush and miles of wooded ares, hoping for any signs of Alisha.
Volunteer Amy Appel says, "We're looking for items of clothing, really anything that looks remotely new that might be in relation, might give us some help."
Alisha left her Hatfield home Friday night after an arguement with her husband, Doug Sidie. Now officials are beginning to piece together a timeline of Alisha's whereabouts that night, including the last people she had spoke with.
Sheriff Waldera says, "We are looking into the whereabouts and who had last contact, doesn't matter if it was the husband or even friends she was with, but yes, we have investigators looking at all that information including the husband, what was going on and the details of the event that was told to us."
As bleak as the search may seem at times, volunteers are determined to bring Alisha home.
Volunteer Christine Gargulak says, "I just like to keep a positive outlook on things, that she's out there somewhere, somewhere."

No clues to whereabouts of Jackson County mother
HATFIELD, Wis. (AP) - Another day of searching failed to find a mother of 2 who vanished last weekend from her Jackson County home.
Officials said the hunt for 27-year-old Alisha Sidie was halted Wednesday at 4 p.m. and would resume Thursday.
Sidie's ex-husband, Doug, said his wife left home about 9 p.m. Friday and never returned. He reported her missing about 6 p.m. Saturday.
Sheriff's Sgt. Pat LaBarbera said officials still are treating it as a search and rescue mission, not a recovery effort.
Hundreds of volunteers have helped in the search that has included police canines, boats, helicopters and vehicles.

Search for missing woman continues; no new clues in investigation
HATFIELD, Wis. - Tracy Rowlee’s faith that her older sister is alive rests in a month-old promise.
Alisha Sidie vowed to visit Rowlee in a dream if she died. In the five nights since Sidie vanished, she hasn’t.
Two volunteer in a boat search the shoreline of the Black River below the Lake Arbutus dam near Hatfield,Wi. for missing person Alisha sidie. Dick Riniker photo
“I think my sister is alive,” said Rowlee, 18. “I can’t think otherwise.”
The massive search for Sidie entered its fourth day Wednesday with hundreds of family, friends, volunteers and law enforcement members scouring a 2-mile radius of the heavily wooded Hatfield area for any sign of the 27-year-old mother of 2-year-old twin boys.
Sidie has been missing since she walked away about 9 p.m. Friday from the Hatfield home she shares with her ex-husband, Doug Sidie, after an argument, said Jackson County Sheriff’s Sgt. Pat LaBarbera. The couple recently divorced but were reconciling, he said.
Foul play is not suspected but has not been ruled out, LaBarbera said. It’s being treated for now as a search and rescue mission, not a recovery effort.
“We’re still holding out hope,” LaBarbera said.
Search efforts Wednesday were hampered by dense fog that laced through the white pine trees of Hatfield, an unincorporated area in northeastern Jackson County. Droves of volunteers marched in lines 6 feet apart but found nothing in the woods.
Boats, helicopters, tracking dogs, deputies from six Wisconsin sheriff’s departments and other state and local agencies joined in the search and investigation that has drawn national attention.
A bloodhound tracked Alisha Sidie’s scent Monday from her home southeast along railroad tracks and a wooded trail to where Hwy. K meets Clay School Road, Rowlee said.
The scent trail abruptly ended, Rowlee said, leading her to believe her sister may have been abducted. Alisha Sidie’s silence is uncharacteristic and she wouldn’t leave her children.
“It’s not like her to be out in the cold in the woods,” Rowlee said.
But if she is in the woods, Rowlee believes Alisha Sidie is alive. Her older sister is physically and mentally strong, likely relying on survival skills she learned through the U.S. Air Force and life in a rural area, Rowlee said.
“She wouldn’t give up,” she said.
Alisha Sidie’s disappearance has taken a toll on Doug Sidie, who reported her missing about 6 p.m. Saturday after trying to find her through friends. His eyes are heavy, his voice soft and he can’t muster the words to guess what might have happened to the mother of his twins, who keep asking for her.
Rowlee said the past five days are the longest the sisters have gone without talking. The pair joked they were more like best friends than siblings, she said. They are studying nursing together, while Alisha Sidie also juggles jobs as a chiropractor’s assistant and bartender.
The search will resume this morning, but is expected to be a more law enforcement-based operation.

Woman still missing after search
Search efforts for a missing 27-year-old Hatfield woman have been inconclusive after she was last seen on Friday.
As of late Tuesday afternoon, authorities have yet to locate Alisha M. Sidie after she was last seen walking from her Hatfield home on Nov. 7. Authorities and volunteers had conducted searches on Monday and Tuesday, mainly focusing in the area of East Arbutus County Park.
“We’re staying optimistic,” said Tracy Rowlee, Alisha’s sister. “We haven’t given up on anything yet. We’re just hoping she just comes home.”
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, which is heading search efforts and the investigation, Sidie was last seen between 9 and 10 p.m. on Nov. 7 when she reportedly left her house on foot. She was reported missing at about 6 p.m. on Saturday after family and friends had not heard from her.
According to the sheriff’s department’s report, Sidie reportedly left the house after arguing with her husband and she was intoxicated.
Search efforts began Monday morning and continued until nightfall, and a second search began Tuesday. Sgt. Pat LaBarbera of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said a third day of searching was likely to commence on Wednesday.
“We are continuing to search the Hatfield and Adams Township area,” said LaBarbera on Tuesday. “At this point, I think the sheriff is planning to continue to search.”
LaBarbera said over 160 volunteers have aided about two dozen law enforcement personnel in the search. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Jackson County Dive Unit, three bloodhounds and a Gundersen Lutheran MedLink helicopter have also been utilized.
Search efforts concentrated near and in East Arbutus County Park and Lake Arbutus in northern Jackson County, according to Bill Steigerwaldt, public information officer with Jackson County Emergency Management. Steigerwaldt said a police bloodhound picked up Sidie’s scent and traced it near the park area, and search parties began making sweeps through the woods.
LaBarbera said search teams have covered about 400 to 600 acres in the first two days while the dive team has searched the waterway and shoreline. As of Tuesday, nothing has been found.
“So far, we have not come up with anything of interest,” LaBarbera said.
LaBarbera said the sheriff’s department is continuing its investigation of the matter and is not singling out persons of interest regarding the case.
“We are not going to focus on any one scenario,” he said. “We are talking with different friends and family members and trying to get the best account. We really don’t know what happened.”
According to the sheriff’s department, Sidie is 5 feet and 4 inches tall and weighs about 125 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone who may have been in contact with Sidie or who may have information as to her whereabouts is asked to contact the sheriff’s department at (715) 284-5357.
LaBarbera said the search has been launched nationwide and the story will appear on CNN, “Good Morning America” and “America’s Most Wanted.”
Rowlee said family and friends have been putting up posters in an attempt to aid the search. She said Sidie has 2-year-old twin sons and everybody is hoping she can be located soon.
“We love her and we miss her and her boys need her,” Rowlee said. “We want her to come home.”

Family Pleads for Help in Disappearance
HATFIELD, Wis. (AP) -- The family of a missing Jackson County woman is pleading for help in finding her.
Twenty-seven-year-old Alisha Sidie disappeared nearly a week ago. Her mother, Susan Rowlee, says her twin grandchildren miss and need their mom. Sidie's twins, Zackary and T.J., are two years old.
For days, Sidie's friends and family, along with hundreds of volunteers and law enforcement officers, have combed the area around Hatfield. But, there's still no sign of the missing mother.
Jackson County Sheriff's Sergeant Patrick LaBarbera says they've searched the woods, river and roadways with ATVs, boats and on foot. He says at the same time, investigators were going door to door and following up on any leads. But, so far, nothing has turned up.

3 Specialized Search and Rescue Teams Looking For Alisha Sidie
Sgt. Pat LaBarbera with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department says three specialized search and rescue teams have joined the effort to find missing 27-year-old Alisha Sidie. LaBarbera says the three teams specialize in human search and rescue efforts. About 35 officers are searching in the water, using ATV's to search the woods, and combing the area on foot.
Meanwhile, Sidie's family members are pleading with the public to help them find her. Alisha Sidie’s sister, mother and ex-husband continue to trek through the woods with the other searchers and say they’re trying to stay optimistic--something that gets tougher everyday.
"Everyone out there say a prayer for my daughter, Alisha. Please. A prayer," Alisha's Mother Susan Rowlee says she hasn’t slept for days, overcome with worry.
She wants everyone to take a long look at the pictures of Alisha—pictures of a daughter, a sister and a mother.
"We have two little twins that she misses and they need their mother. They want to see mom. Please bring her home to us," Susan Rowlee says with tears in her eyes.
“Say come home mama,” Alisha’s younger sister Tracy Rowlee says to one of the boys. Seconds later, the tot echoes his auntie.
Zackary and T.J. are only two, but their two little faces are full of questions—questions no one really knows how to answer.
“It’s starting to take a toll on me,” Tracy Rowlee tells us.
The 18 year old is trying to stay strong for her family, but says it's hard without her older sister.
"Alisha was kind of my backbone. We’re really close,” Tracy Rowlee tells us. “In hard times, she was the person I went to. It's hard not having her here to talk to and to be around."
For days, Alisha Sidie's friends and family, along with hundreds of volunteers and law enforcement officers, have combed the area around Hatfield. But, as a very damp and cold day three ended, there was still no sign of the missing 27-year-old.
"It's a day by day event,” says Sgt. Patrick LaBarbera with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. “We're very hopeful we can still bring Alisha home safely. We maintain that positive attitude. Sheriff Waldera is very adamant in his hopes that Alisha will be found safe and sound so we can bring her home."
Sgt. LaBarbera says searchers searched the woods, river and roadways with ATVs, boats and on foot. He says at the same time, investigators were going door to door and following up on any leads. But, so far, nothing has turned up.
"Just another difficult day, just the same as all the others,” says Alisha's Ex-Husband Doug Sidie, one son on his lap, the other near him on his couch.
“Are you finding mama?” one of the boys asks. “Yeah, buddy,” his dad answers.
Doug Sidie spent the day with investigators. Wednesday night, Alisha's ex-husband focused on their sons.
He too answers their innocent questions, while asking that everyone else not give up on their mom.
"I just want her to come home," he says.
Home to be a mother and home to her own mother.
"For something like this to happen in our community, to Alisha, is just unbelievable. I cannot understand how this would happen,” Susan Rowlee says, her voice cracking. “I just hope and pray God will bring her home to us. That's all we ask.”
Alisha Sidie was last seen Friday night when she left home after an argument with her ex-husband. She's 5'5 and around 140 pounds. She was last seen wearing scrubs and a white long-sleeved T-shirt.
If you have any information, please call the Jackson County Sheriff's Department at 715-284-5357.
The sheriff’s department will make a decision Thursday morning if searchers will be back out in the woods. We'll post that information as soon as we can.
Alisha's family also wanted to stress how thankful they are for all the help; both for the volunteers and anyone else who donated food, drinks, hand-warmers or just support.

Authorities believe missing Hatfield woman still alive
Authorities believe a west central Wisconsin woman missing for over five days is still alive.
They’ll resume their search today for Alisha Sidie, 27, of Hatfield.
Hundreds of friends, relatives, and volunteers have helped officers look for Sidie.
She was last seen Friday night leaving the house she shared with her ex-husband Doug, after the two got into an argument.
Jackson County sheriff’s sergeant Pat LaBarbera said the couple recently divorced, but was reconciling.
Doug reported his ex-wife missing Saturday night. She’s the mother of twin 2-year-old boys.
LaBarbera says officers are still treating the case as a search and rescue mission and not a recovery effort.
Her sister, Tracy Rowlee, said a bloodhound tracked Sidie’s scent on Monday near a wooded trail. But the path of the scent ended abruptly.

UPDATED: THURSDAY, NOV. 13 AT 5:30 P.M.
Investigators put up crime tape around the home of Alisha Sidie. The sheriff is also calling Alisha's Sidie's ex-husband a "person of interest".
Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera says right now there is no evidence of a crime and this is still a missing persons case.
But the sheriff says there is also no sign of Alisha Sidie. The 27 year old was last seen Friday night. Her ex-husband says he and Alisha had an argument and she left on foot.
Officers had crime tape outside the couple's home today. Alisha Sidie shares it with her ex-husband, Doug Sidie. Court records show their divorce was final in September of last year. But the couple did still live together. Sheriff Waldera says workers from the state crime lab went through the house today looking for any evidence to help them find Alisha.
He says right now, the only information they have to go on in the search is from Doug Sidie, seen in this video from last night. Sheriff Waldera says that's why he's being called a "person of interest."
Waldera says, "I wouldn't call him a suspect, but since he is the ex-husband and the last person that had contact with her. He's definitely a person that we have to be interested in because that's where we're getting the information."
Today, the volunteer searchers were called off. The sheriff says they already covered 1,200 acres without finding anything to go on. He says the search is now focused on more specialized areas and they're using divers and K-9 units to do that.
There is a vigil tonight for Alisha in Hatfield tonight. It's at the mug bar at 8:00.

Crime Tape Around Sidie's Home; Ex-husband Called "Person of Interest"
A rainy day with no sign of Alisha Sidie ends with candles, stories and hope that she'll return.
Family and friends gathered Thursday night to hold a vigil in the Jackson County town of Hatfield.
Alisha's loved ones held onto each other, raising their candles, hugging, crying, and telling stories about the woman they’re so desperately hoping returns safe and sound.
The search for Alisha Sidie took a different turn on Thursday: Volunteer searchers were called off and technicians with the state crime lab arrived in Hatfield.
The Jackson County sheriff says Sidie's ex-husband, Doug Sidie, is now being called a "person of interest" in her disappearance. Sheriff Duane Waldera says Doug Sidie is cooperating with investigators and this is still a missing person's case. He says no evidence has turned up to prove there was a crime committed. At the same time, the sheriff says investigators are no closer to finding the missing woman.
Six days after Alisha Sidie walked away from the Hatfield home she shares with her ex-husband, the house is surrounded in crime tape. On Thursday, crime lab technicians searched for any clue that could lead them to the missing mother of twin two-year-olds. A pick up truck was also taken from the property to be processed.
"They're going through and checking to see if they can find any evidence. They’re looking to see if there was a crime that has been committed in there," Sheriff Waldera says.
Wednesday night, we talked to Doug Sidie inside his home as he sat with his sons to talk about their missing woman. The sheriff says Alisha's ex-husband is now considered "a person of interest."
"I wouldn't call him a suspect, but since he is the ex-husband and the last person that had contact with her, he's definitely a person that we have to be interested in because that's where we're getting the information,” Waldera says. “We'd like to find Alisha, hopefully alive. We'd love a moment where she would call and say 'I’m OK' or some direction that would give us another area to search and focus on."
Dive teams and search dogs remain focused on the lakes and rivers around Hatfield. The volunteer searchers were called off after no clues were found over 1200 acres.
"It's frustrating today to just be standing around and not doing anything," Alisha's Sister Tracy Rowlee tells us.
She says while no longer out in the woods, Alisha's family is trying to keep faith.
"We're trying to stay strong and optimistic, but it’s taking a toll on all of us. We’re not sleeping,” Rowlee says.
Rowlee also admits the crime scene tape draped around the Sidie home is hard for everyone to take. Her only solace—keeping her sister's smiling face on everyone's mind.
“If Alisha's out there, we're begging and pleading please come home. Anybody that did anything wrong, please just bring her home. That's all we want right now,” Rowlee says.
Alisha Sidie has been missing for six days now. Anyone with information on her disappearance is asked to call the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. That number is (715) 284-5357.
We tried to call Doug Sidie on his cell phone Thursday night, but were unable to reach him for comment.

Missing women cases similar: Shannon Salisbury vanished 14 years ago from La Crosse County
The disappearance of a Jackson County mother is uncannily similar to that of a La Crosse County woman who vanished 14 years ago.
Shannon Salisbury, 29, was reported missing Oct. 22, 1994, by her live-in boyfriend, Harold Stankey, two days after he said she left their town of Burns home for a drive after an argument. She left behind two children, both younger than 2.
Alisha Sidie, 27, has been missing since late Friday, when she walked away after an argument from the Hatfield, Wis., home she shares with her 2-year-old twin boys and ex-husband, Doug Sidie.
The similarities between the cases are striking: petite women in their late 20s who vanished after leaving the rural homes they shared with their significant others. Both left about 9 p.m. on a weekday and were reported missing about 6 p.m. on a Saturday by the men. Both are described as devoted mothers who uncharacteristically left their children.
And massive searches in heavily wooded areas yielded no clues in either case, though the Sidie operation continues.
The Salisbury case has grown cold, but La Crosse County sheriff’s Capt. Kurt Papenfuss believes she left her home unwillingly and was killed.
Stankey is a suspect, but the absence of a body and physical evidence has prevented any arrests, Papenfuss said.
“I’m confident if and when any remains are recovered, an arrest would be made,” he said.
Alisha Sidie update
The search for Alisha Sidie, 27, of Hatfield, Wis., entered its fifth day Thursday with no new developments. The search turned to a more law enforcement-based operation, with specialized canine search-and-rescue teams and the state Crime Lab from Wausau, Wis., joining the effort. Anyone with information about Sidie is asked to call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department at (715) 284-5357.

Search for missing Hatfield woman turns into criminal investigation
Jackson County authorities are now using investigative techniques to try and find a young mother from Hatfield who disappeared a week ago today (Friday).
Thursday, officials told dozens of volunteer searchers to go home as they called in the State Crime Lab to help find Alisha Sidie, 27, of Hatfield.
Sheriff Duane Waldera said crime lab analysts went through Sidie’s house Thursday in search of evidence.
There was no word on what, if anything, they might have found. The nearly week-long search covered 1,200 acres.
But now, it’s focused on more specialized areas which K-9 officers and divers are checking out.
Sidie’s ex-husband Doug reported Alisha missing Saturday. He told police the two had an argument before she left around 9 p.m. last Friday.
The sheriff said the two lived together and were in the process of reconciling.

TO: All News Media
FROM: Sgt. Patrick LaBarbera, PIO
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office
RE: Missing Person Investigation
The search for 27 year old ALISHA SIDIE enters its fifth full day of searching in Jackson County, Wisconsin today.
ALSIHA SIDIE was last seen in the Hatfield area of Adams Township, on November 07, 2008. Since that day no one has heard from or has seen ALISHA SIDIE. ALISHA SIDIE does reside in the Hatfield area with her divorced husband and her twin two year old boys.
ALISHA reportedly left the house on foot after being involved in an argument with her ex-husband, DOUGLAS SIDIE. The Sheriff’s Office currently is not singling out or targeting out any one person in this investigation. According to Sheriff Duane Waldera of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation continues to be investigated on a broad spectrum.
Search efforts have taken a law enforcement based approach implementing specialized search teams along with trained K-9. Those teams will be searching specific areas on this date along with water based search teams that will be checking Lake Arbutus, the Black River and a canal adjacent to the lake. Present today are: Clark County Sheriff, Juneau County, Wisconsin Emergency Management, The Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) along with Black River Fire Department. ATV searches have not been suspended and still remain in use.
It is important to point out that this investigation is still a missing person’s investigation. It has not taken on a criminal aspect. No concrete information or evidence has been found to this point that would abruptly change this investigation in that direction.
Yesterday’s search efforts did not yield any useful information at this point but Sheriff Duane Waldera remains hopeful that between search team efforts coupled by investigative efforts, ALISHA SIDIE will be located.
Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of ALISHA SIDIE is asked to call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 715-284-5357.

Family Launches Web Site to Help Find Alisha Sidie As Search Continues
Friends and family of the missing Jackson County woman aren't giving up hope 27-year-old Alisha Sidie is still somewhere out there alive. Sidie's best friend says wherever Alisha is, she's fighting.
Jessica Millis says, "It's been horrible. I feel like I'm missing something in my life."
Jessica Millis and Alisha Sidie have been best friends for 17 years. But now the unthinkable has happened. Sidie's been missing for a week, and there's been no sign of her.
Sergeant Pat LaBarbera says, "We've been on the water today, we have dogs as well on the water today as we have dogs on land as well."
On Friday, dive teams used underwater sonar in a canal looking for Sidie. But still nothing. The Sheriff's Department says it still hasn't decided whether to let volunteer search parties back into the woods.
Jessica Millis says, "We're feeling really helpless right now. We've realized we don't want to hinder their investigation at all. We do understand that. But it's just so hard to sit around. We know she's out there somewhere."
Millis says while Alisha’s twin 2-year-old boys have a hard time understanding what's going on, they still know mom isn't there.
Jessica Millis says, "Every time she came on the news the boys would come up and kiss her on the t.v. and it's just heartbreaking."
Millis says Alisha would never do something like this.
Jessica Millis says, "She would not leave those boys. She wouldn't ever. Those boys are her world."
Millis says no matter what happens, family and friends will keep looking for Alisha.
Jessica Millis says, "We'll never give up hope. Never. Never. Until she's found, period."
The Sheriff's Department says it's not singling out any particular person right now and is still treating it as a missing person's case.
Anyone with any information about Alisha Sidie is asked to call the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. That number is 715-284-5357.
Millis says more missing person fliers have been made up. She says with the gun-deer season coming up, the fliers will be handed out around Jackson County when someone registers a deer, or stays in a hotel or at a campsite. Friends and family say they want to get Alisha’s picture and information out there, so hopefully hunters will keep their eyes open.

Hatfield woman still missing, week after vanishing
HATFIELD, Wis. (AP) -- Search efforts that included dive teams and underwater sonar to probe a canal came up empty Friday in the hunt for a 27-year-old Jackson County woman who has been missing for a week.
Sheriff's Sgt. Pat LaBarbera said search dogs were also used in the effort to locate Alisha Sidie of Hatfield, the mother of twin 2-year-old boys.
"It's tough coming up empty-handed," LaBarbera said.
"I'm the father of a 17-year-old daughter," he said. "I just can't imagine what (her) mom and dad are going through, the pain that they're suffering. ...
"We want to bring her home very badly and we want to do that as quickly as possible."
Sidie's former husband, Doug, told authorities she walked away from the home they shared the previous Friday night after they argued. He reported her missing the next day. Authorities have said the couple were divorced but had been reconciling.
Doug Sidie has met with investigators on several occasions and been "very cooperative," and he also joined in the search one day, LaBarbera said.
"It's got to be pretty difficult for him, too," he said.
Scores of volunteers searched the densely wooded area until that part of the effort was called off Thursday. LaBarbera said they covered about 1,200 acres.
In addition to the woods, the nearby area has the canal, the Black River and Lake Arbutus, a widening of the river created by a dam.
LaBarbera said there was no one in custody, and there was no evidence as yet that any crime had been committed. It remains a missing person case, he said.
In Madison, Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen said the Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Missing and Exploited Children and Adults is assisting the sheriff's department by distributing a flier about the case, including a photo of Alisha Sidie.
It notes that the missing woman was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, blue hospital scrub pants and white tennis shoes when last seen.
LaBarbera said the fliers would be distributed to area hunters preparing for the gun deer season that opens Nov. 22.

Search continues for missing Hatfield woman
. . . . . http://i37.tinypic.com/2llc08i.jpg
Hatfield, WI -- From rescue teams and ground searches to cadaver dogs and divers. Specialty teams joined efforts to try and bring 27-year-old Alisha Sidie home.
"We need to focus on different areas, less people there, the better the dogs work," says Sgt. Patrick LaBarbera of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
The mother of two disappeared a week ago. Sidies husband, Doug, told authorities she left on foot after an argument. She hasen't been seen since. Whether she left the area voluntarily or whether someone else is responsible for her disappearance still remains a mystery.
Officers have questioned her husband.
"Mr. Sidie has been cooperative he has been answering our phone calls and trying to bring alisha home. There is no one person that the sheriff department at this particular time is looking at as a suspect,"says LaBarbera.
Police say anyone with close ties to Alisha could be a person of interest. However, her husband is not a suspect at this time. State crime lab workers searched the Hatfield, Wisconsin home where Alisha lived with her husband.
Items were taken from the home, but what those items were and whether they will provide clues to where alisha is now is still unknown."
The question remains, "Where is Alisha Sidie, today?" Friends say it would be very unlikely for her to do something like this, leaving her two young sons behind.
Days of searching, now adding up, but police stay hopeful in finding answers.

DA: Ex-husband to be charged with homicide
BLACK RIVER FALLS — The ex-husband of Alisha Sidie is expected to be charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of the 27-year-old Hatfield woman, authorities said today.
Her body was found late Saturday in a wooded area in the town of Komensky in northeast Jackson County, outside an area that had been the focus of search efforts since Sidie went missing late Nov. 7.
Authorities said today someone stepped forward with key information in the case, leading them to re-interview her ex-husband, Doug Sidie, on Saturday.
He then showed investigators the general location of Alisha Sidie’s body, Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera said today during a press conference in Black River Falls.
A bloodhound led authorities to the body, Waldera said.
The manner of death was not revealed pending an autopsy, which was expected to be completed later today.
Doug Sidie now is cooperating with investigators, Waldera said, and no one else is considered a suspect in the death.
Doug Sidie, 39, had reported his ex-wife as missing Nov. 8, saying she had walked away the night before from the Hatfield home they still shared after an argument.
The two had divorced but reportedly were reconciling, the sheriff’s department said last week.
Alisha Sidie’s family members had said it was unlikely she would leave behind the couple’s 2-year-old twin sons.
Scores of family, friends, volunteers and law enforcement had combed the heavily wooded Hatfield area in northeastern Jackson County daily earlier in the week but found no trace of Sidie.
Though the search shifted to a law enforcement-driven operation Thursday, no new developments were reported until Saturday.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Dive Team also had located items connected with the case in a body of water in Black River Falls, which aided the investigation, according to the sheriff’s department.
A criminal complaint is expected to be filed in the next few days in Jackson County Circuit Court. Doug Sidie likely also will be charged with concealing a corpse and obstructing officers, said Jackson County District Attorney Gerald Fox.

Sheriff Says Doug Sidie Told Officers Where to Find His Ex-Wife's Body
SUNDAY PRESS CONFERENCE UPDATE:
At a press conference today, detectives said a key witness in 27-year-old Alisha Sidie’s disappearance case cooperated with investigators, and that’s when they brought in Doug Sidie for another round of questioning.
Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera says Doug Sidie eventually told detectives where they could find Alisha’s body in the township of Komensky just a few miles from Hatfield (see map at the bottom of this web story).
Waldera says that investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigations (DCI), found Alisha’s body in a wooded, remote area in the northeast part of Jackson County using a scent tracking K-9 dog from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Sidie’s body was found in an area that had not been searched before, however it was close to the area where dozens of officers and hundreds of volunteers searched all week.
Waldera did not say how, where or when Sidie was killed. He says earlier in the week a volunteer searcher found a key piece of evidence that police say helped them solve the case. A forensic autopsy is being performed at the UW-Madison Hospital this afternoon. A Jackson County press release says that autopsy is expected to be completed later today and a final cause of death determined. Investigators say they will not release the autopsy information Sunday night.
Investigators along with the aid of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Dive Team were able to locate specific items associated with this case in a body of water east of Black River Falls. Those items did help out in the investigation.
The Sheriff also said in the past there had been instances where police were called to the Sidie home but he did not give any further details. The sheriff also offered the department’s condolences to Alisha Sidie’s family and friends.
39-year-old Douglas Sidie was arrested on a count of First Degree Intentional Homicide – Domestic Related. Sidie is being held without bond. He remains in the Jackson County Jail until arraigned in Jackson County Circuit Court. Tonight his father told WEAU 13 News that Doug was a fun loving, quiet kid and that he didn't know what to think about the arrest.
The District Attorney of Jackson County Gerald Fox says a criminal complaint will be filed in the next couple of days. He did say he planned on filing charges of first degree intentional homicide, concealing a corpse, and obstructing an officer.
Investigators say the Sidie children are in state custody, but that both sides of the family are working with the state in regards to who will take care of the twin boys.

Sheriff Says Doug Sidie Told Officers Where to Find His Ex-Wife's Body
A mother of two young twin boys was found dead last night. Her family left to deal with the tragic discovery of 27-year-old Alisha Sidie's body. Her ex-husband is in now jail, facing charges including first degree murder.
"This is not the way we wanted to bring Alisha back to her family, but now the family can start with some closure,” says Sgt. Pat LaBarbera with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
Alisha Sidie's body was found several miles east of her Hatfield home in the town of Komensky.
The sheriff says she was found outside the area where they had been searching.
Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera did not release any information on how, when, where, or why Alisha was murdered. But the sheriff did tell us, that it was Doug Sidie who eventually led them to his ex-wife's body.
"Mr. Sidie will be charged with first degree intentional homicide," said Jackson Co. District Attorney Gerald Fox.
Doug Sidie is being held without bond in the Jackson County jail accused of murdering his ex-wife. His mug shot a very different picture than the family portrait Sidie held last Monday, along with his twin two-year-olds.
"Whatevers happened, whatever happened, we just want her to come home," Doug Sidie told us.
Sheriff Waldera says Doug Sidie's story changed drastically Saturday after a follow-up interview with a "key witness" prompted investigators to re-interview the 39-year-old. In fact, the sheriff says he doesn't know if the original story is true at all. They don't know if there was an argument or if Alisha left on foot.
“We believe that Doug Sidie is responsible for the death of Alisha Sidie, as well as attempting to conceal her body and evidence of the crime," says Waldera.
The sheriff would not say exactly where Alisha Sidie's body was found, but he did say it was Doug Sidie who pointed investigators in the right direction. A search dog then found her body in a wooded, remote area just a couple miles from where searchers had combed the forest.
"There was additional evidence collected and Doug Sidie assisted with finding those items as well," Waldera says.
Investigators say they found some of that evidence, they won't say what, in a body of water east of Black River Falls. They found other evidence near Alisha Sidie's body. Investigators say a volunteer searcher also found a key piece of evidence. But, they would not say if they found anything inside the Sidie home.
"I can't even count the hours they have invested in this case. The last thing we want to do is rush through the last ten percent of this and get something wrong," Fox says.
Fox says he expects it to be several days before he files formal charges. The sheriff says there are no other suspects in the case and no one else will be charged in connection to her death.
Investigators say the autopsy is complete, but they will not release that information at this point. Investigators say after hundreds of man hours, it's a relief that the search is over but an unfortunate ending to Alisha Sidie's story.
"She's a hometown gal, born and raised here. She's liked by a lot of folks and known by a lot more. You can see by the turnout of volunteers how much they cared about Alisha and wanted to help," says Sgt. LaBarbera.
“It’s a tragic case. We have several victims. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the families involved,” says Sheriff Waldera.
Alisha and Doug Sidie have two-year-old twin boys. Social Services was helping with them Saturday night. The sheriff says both sides of the family are working with social services on custody issues Sunday.
We talked to Alisha Sidie's sister Saturday night; she says the family is in shock. After talking openly about the search all week, the family is now asking for privacy as they grieve.
We also talked to Doug Sidie's father on the phone Sunday night. He says he can't believe it. He tells us Doug was always a fun-loving, easy-going kid and he doesn't know what to think about the arrest.

A Village in Shock: Hatfield Reacts to Alisha Sidie's Murder
"I thought it was just a rumor, another Hatfield rumor you know,” says April Struensee, standing outside the Northwoods Restaurant on a chilly Sunday morning. “We didn't think anything like this could happen around here. It's just too safe and people are just too close."
"Very somber day,” says Gary Nordin, of the Hatfield Fire Department. “And unfortunately we do have the body, and it's unfortunate for the family, but at least it's closed."
Nordin was among those searching earlier in the week for Alisha Sidie. He also knows Doug Sidie, Alisha’s ex-husband, and says he doesn’t want to believe that this is happening. Like so many in the community, they are struggling to come to grips with her murder.
"I just found out about an hour ago,” says Joe Post, a cook at the Northwoods Restauarant. “It's just, it's kind of disgusting and kind of a shock, and it makes you kind of nauseous, and it's hard to digest."
They're also shocked that the person so close to the victim, ex-husband Doug Sidie, has been arrested for the crime.
"Well, everyone always suspects right away that they knew there was an argument there, so that's kind of what everyone thought, but then they just had to wait for the information to come out,” says Post.
And now that Alisha's body has been found, this village—where everyone knows everyone—is left searching for solace.
"I worry about the little boys,” says Struensee, eyes welling up. “It's going to take awhile. A lot of people knew her, she was, from what I heard, well-liked. Just a good mother, and it's going to take a long time."
Community members say they aren't sure how to help the family right now, but they are certain the close-knit community will come together to support Alisha Sidie's children and other family members.

Body of missing woman found; Ex-husband in custody
BLACK RIVER FALLS — Jackson County Chief Deputy Mark Moan knew immediately that his 4-year-old bloodhound, Clyde, had locked onto Alisha Sidie's trail late Saturday night.
"When I was given the area, it was almost a nine-day-old scent," Moan said. "He was given a scent article, and he took me almost directly to the body."
Moan gave the dog Sidie's hairbrush and a shoe to smell, and Clyde immediately zeroed in on the scent. They walked together for about a mile until Clyde found the body.
"It's amazing, but that's what he does," Moan said.
Sidie, 27, was found dead Saturday night in a wooded area a few miles from her home in the town of Komensky. She was last seen alive Nov. 7. Her ex-husband, Doug Sidie, reported her missing the following day.
Earlier Saturday, Doug Sidie was arrested after a key witness gave the Jackson County Sheriff's Department new information, said Sheriff Duane Waldera. Doug Sidie then gave officers information about where to look for Alisha Sidie's body. Search teams had not previously looked in that area, Waldera said.
At a press conference Sunday afternoon in Black River Falls, Jackson County District Attorney Gerald Fox announced he would seek charges of first-degree intentional homicide, hiding a corpse and obstructing an officer.
Doug Sidie is being held on probable cause in Alisha Sidie's death. Fox said he expects it will be several days before a criminal complaint is filed.
"I can't tell you specifically when he will appear in court next," Fox said. "I'm not going to rush the Sheriff's Department (in getting reports to me). The last thing we want to do is rush the last 10 percent of the case and get something wrong."
Fox said he will ask the court to not allow Sidie to be given a bond for release.
"Our hearts go out to the families involved," Fox said.
Alisha Sidie's body has been taken to Madison for an autopsy. Waldera declined to say how she died, or if the body was buried. However, Waldera acknowledged Doug Sidie had "attempted to conceal the body."
The couple have two 2-year-old twin boys. They have been placed in protective custody, and Waldera said he wouldn't elaborate on that.
"This is a tragic case where we have several victims," Waldera said.
Officers have been investigating several leads since Doug Sidie reported his ex-wife missing Nov. 8, with law enforcement from across the region and volunteers combing the area around the couple's home looking for clues.
Waldera said Doug Sidie was not initially a suspect in the case.
However, on Saturday morning a witness gave the Sheriff's Department new information, Waldera said, but he wouldn't elaborate on what that evidence was.
"A volunteer search found one of our key pieces of evidence," Waldera said.
Doug Sidie was then arrested, and he reportedly told officers where to look for the body.
"Everything happened (Saturday)," Waldera said. "It came together quickly. It took us all day, from start to finish."
Doug Sidie has not yet given a reason for why he allegedly killed his ex-wife, Waldera said.
"I can't actually say if he's cooperating," Waldera said.
The Sheriff's Department had been called to the Sidie residence in the past, Waldera said. The couple were divorced but were still living together, he said. Waldera added that he believes Doug Sidie acted alone, and that the Sheriff's Department does not believe anyone else was involved.
Moan said during the investigation, nine cadaver-tracking dogs and three bloodhounds were used. However, on Saturday it was just Moan and Clyde working together.
Jackson County has two K-9 units — a German shepherd used primarily in drug cases, and Clyde, who is used typically in searches and rescues. Moan said Clyde has been used in many searches in the region, especially on some missing person cases in La Crosse.
Moan said Clyde has seen a few doctors recently — the dog has cancer, but it is in remission. His belly has been shaved in spots after some treatment.
"He is in good health and in good spirits," Moan said. "He's in full remission and we hope he stays that way a long time. Because he sure knows his job."

Doug Sidie Admitted to Investigators He Shot and Killed His Ex-wife on the the Sidewalk Outside of Their Home
NEWS UPDATE:
Court records show Doug Sidie admitted to shooting his ex-wife on the sidewalk outside of their home before he drove her body to a rural road and hid it.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department filed a probable cause statement with the Jackson County Clerk of Courts today. The statement says Doug Sidie told investigators he and Alisha Sidie, his ex-wife, had a verbal argument in their garage on Friday, November 7. Sidie told detectives she left the garage and he then got a handgun from the garage and hid it in the waistband of his pants. Sidie then says he confronted Alisha and shot her one time in the “front of her face or head” on the sidewalk outside their house.
Court documents also say he then told detectives he put her body in his pick-up truck and drove to the town of Komensky, where he tried to hide her body adjacent to Waterbury Road. Officers took Sidie to that area and he told them he took her body out of his truck and dragged her into a wooded area on the east side of Waterbury Road. A K-9 search team then found her body.
The document also says Doug Sidie voluntarily confessed to shooting and killing Alisha Sidie, the day before he reported her missing. Doug Sidie was arrested on Saturday, November 15, at 6:30 p.m.
A Jackson County judge did find there was probable cause Doug Sidie committed first degree intentional homicide in court today.

There is a history of violence between Doug and Alisha Sidie.
In 2005, when the couple was engaged, Doug Sidie was charged with misdemeanor battery-- domestic abuse and disorderly conduct-- domestic abuse.
According to that criminal complaint, Alisha told investigators that Doug was drunk and she was driving him back to their home. That's when Alisha said Doug demanded his keys. She said she didn't want him to drive, so she threw the keys out the window.
When Alisha tried to get out of the car, she told officers Doug got angry and pushed her to the ground. When she got up, she said he again pushed her down and kicked her in the head, near her temple.
Alisha Sidie said she eventually got away, ran behind a fence and called 911.
She also told investigators Doug had trouble handling alcohol in the past.
Those charges were eventually amended to a single charge of disorderly conduct. Court records show Alisha and Doug Sidie divorced in September of last year.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE ON WEDNESDAY:
Doug Sidie Charged With First Degree Homicide, New Details Come Out in the Case
Prosecutors have charged 39-year-old Doug Sidie with first degree intentional homicide in his ex-wife Alisha Sidie’s death.
Jackson County District Attorney Gerald Fox charged Doug Sidie with one count of first degree intentional homicide, which carries a mandatory life in prison sentence. Fox also charged Sidie with one count of hiding a corpse, 8 counts of obstructing an officer, and one count of bail jumping.
Prosecutors say Doug Sidie shot and killed 27-year-old Alisha Sidie on the sidewalk outside their Hatfield home on Friday, Nov. 7, after an argument.
According to the criminal complaint filed today, Doug Sidie originally told investigators the handgun was missing from his house. Divers later found the handgun in Morrison Creek. Doug Sidie told investigators he and Alisha were arguing in their garage, and the .22 caliber handgun was lying on an ATV rack. The criminal complaint says Doug Sidie picked up the gun during the argument. It says Doug Sidie told detectives Alisha Sidie started to walk back toward the house but they kept arguing. Doug Sidie then told detectives Alisha Sidie turned around to say something when he shot her once in the face.
An autopsy listed her cause of death as traumatic brain injury. The complaint says Alisha Sidie was wearing a white shirt, blue scrubs, and tennis shoes when her body was found. That matches the clothing description Doug Sidie gave when he reporter her missing. Investigators also say Doug Sidie led officers to Alisha’s purse, which he had buried.
Dozens of Alisha Sidie’s family and friends packed the courtroom, and many of them were crying during the court hearing.
Alisha’s sisters, Tracy and Melissa Rowlee, say they’re devastated about losing Alisha and about losing the brother-in-law, Doug Sidie, who they once loved. Both women also say they’re struggling to understand how Doug Sidie could do this to Alisha and Doug’s twin two-year-old boys. Tracy and Melissa say they want Doug Sidie to be convicted to life in prison, but feel he won’t face true justice until he meets God.
A judge postponed any further court hearing until Doug Sidie is able to get a lawyer. The judge also denied any bail, so Doug Sidie will remain in the Jackson County Jail. He’ll be in court again on November 25. Tracy and Melissa Rowlee say they’ll attend every one of Doug Sidie’s court appearances.
The district attorney tells us these are all the charges he intends to file in this case. The D.A. says Doug Sidie will not be charged with child neglect because there was another responsible person in the house at the time with the twins, but won't comment on who that was or if they knew anything.
The D.A. says he plans to call witnesses at the next hearing.
He says it's likely two investigators will be highly involved in case, and although he won't comment now, he says a lot more evidence will come out as case proceeds.
The prosecutor will not say why Doug and Alisha were arguing, or comment on anything else right now. He says it is a horrific emotional experience for the family. For him, it's his job to put those emotions aside and go for a full conviction.
WEAU 13 News had a crew at the court appearance. Mary Rinzel will have a full report, including interviews with Alisha's sisters, and the district attorney, at 5, 6, and 10 p.m.

Doug Sidie is now formally charged with murdering his ex-wife Alisha Sidie and hiding her body. Wednesday, a judge denied him bond and investigators revealed more about the night Alisha was killed.
Alisha’s sisters also spoke about the pain they’re going through. Tracy Rowlee and Melissa Sandoval say losing their big sister is the hardest thing they've ever had to try and deal with. But, they say they also lost a brother-in-law in Doug and that too is tough to handle.
Doug Sidie walked slowly into Jackson County Court, without a lawyer, to face a judge and to face Alisha’s tearful parents, sisters and friends.
"A lot of hate," is what Rowlee described feeling as she watched him walk in.
"I want him to be in prison for life," Sandoval told us.
But, Alisha's sisters say it's not that simple.
