I agree but maybe we should have more cake and less alcohol, :). I think if martin joins, he should be nominated the sergeant at arms.:)

If I am not being too presumptuous, I think that You and I should be nominated as the Supreme Court in order to resolve possible disputes about whose pastries or alcohol is the best. I would be happy to sample and offer my opinion,:).

I think all think there cooking is the best. I see no problem with a friendly competition, each submitting their best samples (with multiple chances for resubmission, if the participant's feels the last submission was not their best) for the Court's consideration. :)

I do not think that position would do you justice, so I nominate you for Warden, with the authority to dole out punishment. Please, forgive me. but I think some one said they made bourbon balls. I guess I will have to research and change the caption of the case. The Court needs to resolve the issue of these bourbon balls as speedily as possible.:)

How to post a picture...
go on the web and find a picture you want - right click it and select "save picture as" to either your desktop or whatever folder you choose - I save mine to "pictures"
Go to a website like tinypic.com
Select browse
Find the picture you want to upload from your desktop and click on it
select open
click on upload now
copy and paste the code that says "Img Code for Forums and Message Boards" and voila.... http://i34.tinypic.com/dcwmcl.gif
ETA: Please remember to resize the picture to make it smaller otherwise you will blow the margins like I just did LOL.
You can resize the picture by going to "my pictures" open it and select the picture you want to edit - you can right click and select edit, select resize and then I typically choose "predefined height and width" and select the "web small" option"
click on ok and then File - Save As.

It appears you selected the third option for "Email and IM" and thats why the picture didn't show up in your post. You need to select the second option ( see my example above) that reads "Img Code for Forums and Message Boards".
The code needs to have http // 34.tinypic. com/ 2jkxxx3&s wrapped around it. I put spaces in between just so you can see the example without the picture posting.
Try again when you get the chance - we'll keep working on it til you get it figured out - ok? It took me more than a few tries in the beginning so I don't mind helping. :seeya:

To The Warden,
I don't know why it will not allow me to publish the picture. Don't punish me. I followed your instructions. However, I would appreciate some assistance. If you type in sweet potato souffle with marshmallows, it is the third or fourth pic. Can you post it for the computer illiterate justice? Thanks. If only you could see the pics I have on my computer, trying to get an avatar, you would understand.:)

My daughter makes the best burbon balls east and west of the Mississippi.
So i will bring a basket full for everyone and ask that William allow them to be
accepted into evidence as such.
I have tried to paste a picture with no success.
Does your daughter work in the food industry or does she simply like to cook/bake?
Thank you for sharing the treats martin, I'm definitely looking forward to those.

You can resize the picture by going to "my pictures" open it and select the picture you want to edit - you can right click and select edit, select resize and then I typically choose "predefined height and width" and select the "web small" option"
click on ok and then File - Save As.You can also set up an account on Photobucket.com and upload all your photos there. Then go to the IMG code double click, it will say copied, then paste it in your reply thread. Voila! Fini!

Yes, I must agree. We in no way want to be seen as trying to stifle the ingenuity and creativity of the community, so long as they operate in the confines of the law. Since the law permits such activity as cake bribing (I mean baking) and we firmly uphold equality of opportunity, we mandate that all public officers have the opportunity to sample the cheesecake.

One2Snoop,
While it is not customary for the Court to offer legal advise, Justice Sachel and I are not sure you had proper notification. We must urge you to send us your bourbon balls in order to avoid a default judgment. However, I do believe that Justice Sachel will not be opposed, if a default judgment is entered, that we allow you to refile, without prejudice.

Ahem, Now Justice William you know it wasn't my instructions you were try to copy from, if I may beg the courts indulgence. I just wanted to post a note this morning that I will away from our forum for several days.
As most of you are aware, my father passed away from an illness several months back. Since that time I have spent a good portion of time in Boston assisting my mother in the aftermath and helping her tie up any remaining loose ends.
My mother ultimately made the decision to take her own life, and she passed away on Monday night. I have tried my best to remain functioning, to continue posting on our forum and doing things that were otherwise a normal part of my daily routines but her funeral is tomorrow here in Boston and the grieving process must begin.
Take care, and I'll see you all next week I'm sure. And please, hug everyone that you love today and remind them that you love them.

An Ode To William Anthony
So it be that our William here,
Holds the flow of his words dear.
He is no ordinary frivolous chap;
Whom articulates through gums that flap.
He welds his thoughts in prose and rhyme;
Tell me now where be the crime?
But in this be mindful, William, of the fact,
That through your creativity you must administer tact.
And by your prose please endeavor,
To make your thoughts as clear and they are clever.
For Truth will indeed set you free;
If you seek and speak in earnestly.

I feel you irritation, being nice, for Jesse and I share it. Yes, I was speaking only that his tears reflected the sentiments of America as a whole. Since I have decided that sharing my age is no longer an issue, I can say that I was a teenager, during the civil rights movement and went into the service 18 days after MLK was murdered. Although Jesse meant less to me, his tears I understood and shared them. Perhaps, now some will understand why I feel so passionately about equality. I never lost those feelings but last night I was truly inspired and hope that his election will have a great impact upon society as a whole. Now the realization must be actualized for women. I hope that no longer will class determine the ability to attain equality.

I just heard on Fox that Palin gave an interview, which they will soon be showing. They said that she said she was sorry, if she caused McCain one vote and she would not engage in negativity. While she did not impress me, I think it is a shame, if someone is blaming her. It was a calculated decision to nominate her for VP, imho, and she should not be used as a scape goat. I think the RNC should follow McCain's example.

I am not sure Palin knew what she was getting into. I am sure she was used by mcCain and a wing of the GOP. But she had the option to pass or accept,
she took the later and played their game. She now has to take the hits from the people that used her and those that think she made the wrong decision.

It's a shame that you seem so willing to underestimate so many of us. I am capable of recognizing, and applauding, his achievements as a civil rights leader but no one is going to convince me that all of his actions are driven by altruism.
Are you really trying to suggest that anything negative of him comes from the media portrayal of him to the people? How about from his own less than stellar actions?

I am not diminishing his accomplishments in the area of civil rights. However, the Dream was not limited to one race or class, as I understood it. I think Jesse let his bitterness cause him to lose sight of the greater goal. I am not saying that he is not a great civil rights leader but I am saying that some of his comments demeaned the purpose of the Dream, imho. I do not distrust his motivation or dedication, only that I think they somehow got twisted.

I understand. I just think that it serves no good purpose for the RNC to fault her for what was a calculated decision, which they embraced with open arms. I agree, the campaign, McCain, is resaponsible for the outcome.
Loosers always look for someone to blame. Last week they (RNC) seemed to have been organizing the cirular firing squard. They seemed to have put Palin in the middle. But she knew or should have known that she was over her head
when they put her out there as their attack point person.

I truly understand what you are saying but I find it troubling. They placed her out there to say they were allegedly progressive but blamed her for going off script-She was supposed to be a well dressed puppet that regurgitated their views and because she messed up a couple of times that caused the large disparity in the votes. I think that is a bad strategy to take, unless they want to further alienate women. Maybe, I should be quiet and let them do what they do best. :)

McCain made a assumption that with HRC loss, the womens vote was up for grabs. it was, but what he later found out was that their vote was not up for grabs to any woman but to one that they felt was qualified. Such as Hillary or other republican women.
When McCain put Palin up. it did not take women long to understand that she was not the woman, person, they were looking for.
So they rejected her and voted for Obama.
I don't think it was Palin alone that caused McCain to loose but i believe McCain lost some womens vote he thought he would get by putting her on the ticket.
At least that is what the womens vote indicates.imo

I agree and I think McCain showed great poise and understanding last night. What I am saying is that, yes, there was more than one reason why McCain lost the race. However, those who should take credit for the loss are those that instrumented the campaign. Palin never impressed me but she obviously impressed them or they claimed she did. I am not disagreeing with you and I hope they continue to use the strategy of demeaning her so they will never get the vote of women. Let me see if I can say it this way. There are men and women, who degrade their ex, not thinking how it makes them look for choosing them. It is a far better thing to do to say that they were good people but things did not work out for other reasons, imho. I think we are agreeing.

You are absolutely right. Many women were offended at the idea that McCain assumed we line up like sheep in a manner similar to girlfriends using the restroom together in highschool and that he thought he could sway those women who were in Hillary's camp to vote the McCain ticket simply because he put a woman on a ballot.

The rather savage or vicious attacks on Ms. Govenor Palin within the Republican party reinforces my opinion that, on the issues of judgment and character, America made the right choice on Tuesday. Senator McCain seems to have risen above some other members of his party. I think that, because of his strongly held political ideologies, he is not willing to change his party affiliation. I truly believe that he was sincere in his offer to be of assistance to the President Elect and hope that they will reach across party lines to do what is best for America.

Initially the clothes issue became a issue because it is illegal for the campaign
to spend campaign donated money on items of personal use, like personal clothing for herself and her non candidate husband.
I have never heard that this was done before and the media reported it to the public.
I was puzzeled why Palin would eject her Hockey mon Image for high end designer clothes that were not her own.She must have had clothes in Alaska that she wore.
martin, most of what was bought for her was not purchased by her but by staffers that bought several sizes of the same outfit to be sure they fit. There has been some talk of her doing some extravagant personal shopping but I don't think any of that has been proven.
The campaign is over and McCain/Palin lost to Obama/Biden. I voted for McCain -- I've voted Repulican for many years and saw nothing to change my mind. It's time now to move on from the criticism and finger pointing. While Mr. Obama was not my first choice he will soon be my president and I have the utmost respect for him and the office he will hold. Michelle Obama seems like a lovely, intelligent woman and I think she'll be a gracious, active and beloved first lady. It will also be nice to have young children in the white house again.
I don't intend to indulge in Obama bashing such as the 8 years of Bush bashing that went on. President Bush kept us safe for 8 years and I'm grateful for that. If this is the presidency that many feel will pull us all together it's time for all this Palin bashing to stop. It's my hope that she'll be a part of the future of the Republican party but right now I think she's earned a well-deserved rest.

Not sure what a hockey mon is - but I still like a lot of the things she stands for - she has her faults - just like others do - didn't vote for her but it is a positive , from my point, for a woman to be considered - makes me, as a woman, at least feel some hope - I'll leave it at. Th:)ere are all kinds of things done illegally during elections - unless I know them all - which I don't want to - nor do I have the time - they are reported here and there - some are just made a bigger deal than needed - sure hope she donates them - I could use some really nice clothes.

martin, most of what was bought for her was not purchased by her but by staffers that bought several sizes of the same outfit to be sure they fit.
It's my hope that she'll be a part of the future of the Republican party but right now I think she's earned a well-deserved rest.
wonderful post and sentiments! I couldn't agree more.:patriot:

$150,000 plus $20,000--$40,000 (spent on her husband) was donated to the RNC.she selected the clother at various shops with the help of a consultant and took them with her. The Rnc as required by law listed the purchases on the campaign reporting form as required. The media picked up this info and made it public. The Rnc now has to retreive all of the purchases from her and her family and dispose of them.
My point is Palin had her own clothes before she was selected so i see no reason why this large amount of public money had to spent on changing her looks.
It seems that this was just another blunder by the mccain campaign.

imomartin, I'm sorry you didn't understand the spirit of my post. I was very disappointed that McCain didn't win and I could vent my disappointment by bashing Barack Obama. I could go on and on about his questionable associations and other things that came out during the campaign. Instead, I choose to look forward and hope for a bright future. Your continued criticism of Sarah Palin is beginning to sound very petty. It's hard to be a good loser but it seems like you're having a hard time being a gracious winner.
Perhaps you should contact the RNC and ask that whatever money you contributed to the clothing be returned to you.

i could not ask for something that is not mine. maby you should ask for yours.
65% of Americans believed she was not qualified and 55% thought she brought MCcain down so it is not my pettiness.
She is history so no need to waste time on her.

martiniiI will gladly step out of this discussion and leave you to your bashing. I see now that winning isn't enough for you so any attempt to make you see you look mean-spirited to keep critcizing Sarah Palin is a waste of time. You say she's history -- I say she's most likely the future. :seeya: Party on!

Very nice post. I am a very firm democrat so I obviously have different political opinions than yourself, but I personally respect anyone who takes the time to get educated and make their voice heard at the polls regardless of the party they support.
I do agree with alot of the Palin criticism, I don't think highly of her at all, but I have a great fondness for McCain and would show nothing but respect for him had be been elected. Your willingness to be disappointed in McCain's loss but gracious in Obama's victory speaks very highly of your character and I admire that.

Thanks, Kate. I think very highly of Sarah Palin so we do have different political viewpoints which is what makes this country so great. More binds us together as a people than divides us, in my opinion. :)

Palin proved herself to be intellectually lazy as far as National Politics and the workings of our government is concerned. As a current Governor of a State i found her ignorance unacceptable for a person appointed as a vp candidate.
When the public got a clearer picture of her, 65% rejected her as fit for the job. So it is not just me that rejected her.
Her party i perdict will be out of office for some time as the country has moved past the idea of red states and blue states in favor of the United States.

for someone who is so vocal about staying on topic, you certainly can't leave things alone can you? you think she's ignorant? LOL -- Mr. Obama said he had visited 57 (maybe even 58) states! LOL
like tv has tried to say, the election is over. we need to move forward as a country. One country united behind a president elected by the majority.

Oh please, Justice Sachel do not misunderstand my concern as being a repudiation of your most esteemed and deserved character, as that was truly not my intention. I know that you would resist all temptation to devour every savory morsel no matter how great the temptation might be. However, even the watchful eyes of the Court can not always prevent a crime. We must sometimes. with the assistance of strong drink and deliciously filled bellies, engage in fleeting or sometimes prolonged periods of repose. It is at those times that the criminals may take advantage of our states. Let us ever be mindful of the fact that all are not possessed with our levels of intestinal self-restraint. If you have taken it for safe-keeping so that I will be able to delight in it at some later date, then I understand and inform you to bring on that rum cake.
