Anne Pressly, 26, a news reporter for KATV, was assaulted in her home on Club Road in the Country Club neighborhood last night and suffered serious wounds.

A police spokesman said Pressly was "beaten and stabbed" and that her injuries were "life-threatening." The police do not have a suspect.
Police were called about 5 a.m. Her mother, Patricia Cannady of Little Rock, had found her in bed suffering from severe injuries. Neighbors said it was her mother's custom to make a wakeup call to her daughter each morning and she went to check on her when she did not respond. Another neighbor returned Pressly's dogs (two cocker spaniels, according to her KATV webpage) to the home early this morning. They'd apparently been let loose some time during the night. Police said Pressly's purse was missing, which raised robbery as a potential motive. There were no signs of forced entry at the home.

Police said Pressly was last seen in good health at a friend's house about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

The initial police report said Pressly was unconscious when they arrived and that there were signs of broken bones, severe lacerations and possible internal injury. The officer who responded observed bleeding from her head.

KATV's report on the assault said police were interviewing friends about whether Pressly had ever mentioned being threatened or stalked, but a police spokesman told KTHV there'd been no reports of stalking by Pressly. . .

OMG this is the LAST thing that needed to happen ion this already awful, sad case. I hope they get this puke, (or pukes) who did this. There will be Hell to pay, with her being a local celebrity, and it being linked to Nona Dirksmeyer. There has GOT to be some justice in this case soon. IMO

An Arkansas television anchor who filmed a bit role for the movie "W." was found in her home early Monday suffering from life-threatening injuries caused by a brutal beating.

Anne Pressly, 26, the morning anchor for KATV-TV in Little Rock, was found by her mother at about 4:30 a.m. lying in her bed and bleeding from "severe injuries," police said.

"We do believe she was beaten," Sgt. Cassandra Davis of the Little Rock Police Department told FOXNews.com. She said the injuries were to the upper body and included stab wounds.

Pressly was listed in critical condition at a local hospital, Davis said.

Pressly may have been attacked during a robbery, as her purse is missing. But Davis said that police haven't found any forced entry to her home on Club Road in Little Rock.

"It’s not a neighborhood known for any violent crime," Davis said.

Police do not have suspects in the case, but said they were questioning neighbors, friends and co-workers, Davis said.

Pressly's dogs, which were also missing, have been found.

Early Monday afternoon, a man who answered a phone listed for Pressly's mother, Patricia Cannady, said the family had no comment. . .

I just saw this story as a preview for the local news at 11:00 P.M. (Los Angeles)

It says that a popular TV anchor was savagely attacked in her own home after a suspious break in.

I to will be praying for her and her family.

On one of the morning national news (ABC) programs it said that Anne had left her back door open for her dog. It said that when her Mom went to her home and found the front door locked, she dreaded going to the back because this was something she had frequently done.

Little Rock - A Little Rock police spokeswoman says detectives still haven't been able to speak with a television anchorwoman critically injured in an attack earlier this week.

Sgt. Cassandra Davis says Anne Pressly's medical condition still stops investigators from asking who attacked her and what happened at her home. >snip<

Davis says investigators have "no idea when we'll be able to talk to her."

Davis says detectives continue to search for the blunt object used to beat Pressly, 26, around her head and upper body. The sergeant wouldn't say what evidence officers recovered from Pressly's home or searches of her neighborhood near the Little Rock Country Club.

During an exclusive interview with "Good Morning America," TV anchorwoman Anne Pressly's father, Guy Cannady, said that his daughter is "continuing to improve" and that "some of the bruising and swelling are beginning to subside," although the 26-year-old remains verbally unresponsive.

Anne Pressly is in critical condition after being assaulted in her home.Potentially fatal swelling in her brain "seems to be under control," according to Pressly's neurosurgeon Dr. Brad Thomas.

Pressly was attacked in her Little Rock, Ark., home Monday and suffered blunt force trauma to her head and upper body that doctors say broke nearly every bone in her face. Her left hand was also broken, leading Cannady to suspect she fought her attacker.

Police have no suspects.

Cannady, although content with the Little Rock Police Department's investigation so far, said he is unconvinced by investigators' treatment of the incident as a "random" robbery.

"It's so hard to understand," he said. "Why would anybody vandalize and brutalize somebody to this extent? There are items missing from the home. The severity of the injuries and brutality of the attack in my own mind calls into question the motive."

The investigation continues into the brutal attack of KATV Anchor Anne Pressly. There's new information that may point investigators in the direction of who is responsible. Wednesday afternoon, just after 2pm Little Rock police were at the Shell station at I-30 and 9th street snapping photos and collecting evidence.

"It just looked like they were trying to calculate the imagery," says Shell employee Ricardo Polk.

Clerk Shiva Reddy says police came in Tuesday requesting surveillance video from early Monday morning, the day Pressly was found.

Reporter asks: "Did you give police what they needed?” “They just got the video," Reddy tells us.

If Pressly's attacker was there, Polk says that person may not be on the loose much longer. He says the stores surveillance system is just that good.

"Our surveillance cameras are everywhere," Polk said. "One screen will show 9 different segments and this one when you walk in, shows right here in the store, the back rooms. Inside the garage and stuff like that."

FOX16 News obtained new information Wednesday from two different sources, including an investigator. The Little Rock Police Department urged local media outlets not to report unofficial information. We decided to hold our story for 24-hours to give investigators time to work this latest lead.

It's difficult not to notice the similarities between Anne Pressly and Nona; both beautiful, talented and blonde with bright futures and smiles, not to mention the somewhat similar circumstances to their deaths.

Not sure I understand LRPD's statements; first the crime was considered random despite the fact that Anne's head and face wounds made the attack seem personal. Robbery doesn't make sense either. Why not just grab the purse and go? Why attack someone in bed? Her father thinks she was targeted and I've read that there is a stalker theory too.

Hope there are surveillance tapes available.

Little Rock - KATV Daybreak anchorwoman Anne Pressly, has died at the age of 26, as a result of injuries sustained earlier this week.

The staff of Channel 7 cannot express our grief at the loss of Anne, our dear friend and co-worker.

We thank everyone for their concerns and prayers for Anne and her family over the past week. Please continue to keep her family in your prayers.

The Pressly family released the following statement Saturday evening:

"We are profoundly saddened to tell you that our dear Anne has lost her struggle for life. It was our hope, as was yours, that Anne would overcome the injuries inflicted upon her in the brutal attack at her home. We were with her in her last moments, and although our hearts are broken, we are at the same time comforted by our faith knowing that Anne is now with our Heavenly Father.

The outpouring of compassion we have received is truly a testament to the way in which Anne has touched so many people in a positive way. Thank you for your prayers and your many acts of kindness. I hope a forum for Anne is started soon - I don't want to muddy her prayer thread but the first thing that came to mind when I read about what happened to Anne, it's possibly someone who's extremely jealous/and obviously has mental issues. Sounds like it was personal too - or maybe someone who became obsessed with her.

Is the newest suspect in Nona's case still in jail? Sorry I haven't kept up lately on her case.

How very, very sad for her family and friends. How traumatic for her mother to find her clinging to life. I too hope that the police can find who did this.

I speak as an outsider on this and Nona's case but is it possible that the man who murdered Nona killed Anne? I don't know how many people live in this area in Arkansas (that's right?) I would guess that LE even though they have no public suspects would be checking into the movements of suspects in Nona's case. If Anne was high profile media on the original case, that's one place I'd definitely look.

When I first heard about Anne, my first statement was "This sounds just like Nona."The little that we are hearing seems to indicate that this was not a sex crime / stalking situation. . . personally I'm going to wait to throw that possibility out though. There is just so much that we have not been told I'm sure (which is what LE should do).

To answer your question, Joe. . . Kevin Jones, the first one suspected and tried for Nona's murder, lives and goes to school in Fort Smith which is the extreme Western part of the state. It is unlikely that he was anywhere near Anne (or would have a motive for that matter). The current individual facing charges for Nona's death is sitting in a cell awaiting trial. So, unless LE has the wrong guy there is no connection. However, I think you're right, it does not hurt to check whatever possible to see if there is a connection.
