I love looking at cute animals. Sometimes even those that are not scaly and aquatic. So here is my dog Aunt Esther ( Yes she is named after the black church lady from Sanford and Son). She is a Jack Russell Pup.

This is her being lazy laying next to Mama Fish Face while Papa Fish is out working and busting his butt all over the house.

This is Aunt Esther when my new buddy, the infamous Jose " Cop Farter" Cruz came over for dinner. Needless to say, Jose only wanted beans and cabbage.

I forgot to mention that Aunt Esther also does impressions. Here she is pretending to be the one and only Richard Rameriz. ( She wanted to shave a pentagram into her paw fur but I told her that was crossing the line.

Bassett Hounds are adorable. We were actually thinking about getting one if they wouldn't howl so damn much lol.
I have always been a cat person until I got Esther. But she is not a fan of Jose Cruz so I might have to put her on Ebay. :)

Did Jose' REALLY come to your house for dinner? ROFL!!! That is AWESOME!!! I also have no idea how to post pictures on here. I have a cat named Ramses. (named after the Egyptian Pharaohs etc.) I got him from the Humane Society almost four years ago, and he is my best fluffy furry friend. He is also 100% VERY spoiled, and pampered. I feel like I pay the rent for the CAT!!!! :D

Sara, blue damsels are salt water fish.
SV, Hannibal actually ignores the birds. He tried to get them when he was a kitten but hasn't messed with them in several years now. (That would mean he would have to get off of his @$$. *LOL*)
We used to have a female cat named Clarice too. :-)

I absolutely LOVE your animals!!! I love the fat sausage dog!!! My Grandparents, for years, and years even when I was a little girl, would get those sausage dogs that look JUST like your sausage dog, and they would name every single one Ginger. I think they are like on Ginger # 8 or something. Once the old one dies, then they get another Ginger!!! Pretty funny. They have all been fat, and are like a barrel on stick skinny legs legs!!! Only like one or two were the snarling kind. Your beagle reminds me of Roscoe Peco Train's dog Flash, on the "Dukes of Hazard." Very cute!!! I love the cat pics too!!! That killer cat sure found his way into the RIGHT house!!! You are AWESOME for saving, and taking care of that many animals. I would get another cat, but my cat I have now, would HATE me forever, and my landlord would have a coniption!!!

These are New Caledonian Crested Geckos-and the EASIEST geckos to raise. Perfect for beginners. They need NO heat source, no special lighting, just a tank, some fake plants and places to hide, and a special powdered diet that's mixed with water. They live about 10 to 15years OR MORE!!! They're IDIOT PROOF-LOL!!!

I'll be getting 11 more crested geckos by the end of the month to expand our breeding colony.
We also have 2 Golden Geckos-Bob and Skipper. They're related to the Tokay gecko-or Satan's little gecko-as we call them. Tokays are NOTORIOUSLY NASTY BITERS!!! They come from Vietnam.
Here's Skipper...Bob didn't want to come out for his photo shoot tonight...and I wasn't about to force him out, only to get bit or have to chase him through the whole house with a net and dogs and cats in hot pursuit.
And yes-he's hanging upside-down from the lid of his tank.

do you work for an animal rescue place or are all those animals living with you?
I would not even remember to feed all of those guys lol.
samanthajane13
10-15-2008, 02:13 AM
Mr. Triple F-
Nope-we don't work for a rescue group-we ARE the rescue group!!! All home-based.
When we run into an animal in need, if we're able to care for it and give it a better life, we take it in and give it a new Forever Home.
If we can't handle it, we call our pals at the SPCA or one of the local specialty groups.
We know when we've reached our limit, and in the past we've re-homed some animals who don't have special needs.
We're just SUCKERS. And the animals seem to know it.
I almost forgot-
I have one of these, too.

Mr. Triple F-
In my home there are-
2 dogs
5 cats-with more on the way, thanks to Cenobite breaking in and impregnating Molly
8 Crested geckos with 11 eggs in to hatch (some ar possibly infertile) and 11 more live geckos being delivered by the end of the month, and 2 or 3 more to be delivered next month-one of which is handicapped with a clubbed tail-so 22 Cresties and 11 eggs...so far.
They lay 2 eggs every month or so, and I have 2 females with their mates.
2 Golden geckos
The dogs are fed (me) and watered twice a day (me)-no big deal.
The cats are fed when the 9 x 13 community pan gets low (me)-about 3 times a week and watered daily(Katey), 'cuz they don't like the taste of the water in the dogs' bowl once the canines dangle their tongues in it for a while. :D
The geckos food gets mixed about every other day (me), and they get misted twice a day(Katey). They also get crickets or wax worms once or twice a week.(Katey)
When you have a system, it's not that hard.

May a heart of gold...maybe just plain NUTZ.
The gecko colony is going to be part of our cottage industry. We've started breeding them late this summer, and we plan to have geckos available for sale by next fall's WNY reptile show.
As for all the rescues, we just love ALL God's little critters-although there are many that I wouldn't want to tend to.
I guess we're just following the ways of St. Francis of Assisi, and the tenet that was set forth by Christ in Matthew 25:35-40.
"For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
And who is the VERY LEAST??
The creatures God gave us dominion over.
The little animals who are used and abused everyday by so many, then just duped on the streets and ignored like so much garbage, without a second thought as to weather they live, or suffer and die.
We may not be able to save EVERY animal in need, but when we become aware of an animal, if we can't help it, we find someone who can. We have a lot of connections with various rescue groups in our community-I call it having friends in high places and friends of friends, but we rarely find an animal that can't be helped or placed somewhere.

Grneyes-
Thank you. We do what we can...:o
The geckos are VERY SWEET, but as with ANY animal, it WILL NIP if it feels threatened.
But it's almost laughable-they give you this tiny little nip and ACT so ferocious when they do it!:D
With time and patience, they learn that you give them food and won't hurt them, and get used to being held gently. As babies, they're very skittish, so we only hold then over their tanks, just in case they jump. They're totally fearless of heights, can run like the wind, and will scale a wall in seconds. They're also VERY GOOD at finding the TINIEST SPACE and hiding in it if they get loose...
Since they are used to being in an environment where it's in the 70's to low 80's, they need no special heat equipment and no special lighting, unless you want to watch them at night, when they're most active. I just put a small lamp near the tanks.
They're really not all that expensive-about $70 at PetCo or PetSmart, and their food-Crested Gecko Diet is about $4.99 at most shops. They also benefit from an occasional pinch of calcium powder without vitamin D, (which is toxic to them in high amounts), which runs about $5.
BABY FOOD FRUIT is a BIG-NO-NO!! LOTS of store feed this, but it has too much sugar and none of the vitamins of the Crested Gecko Diet.
Crickets or wax worms are for TREATS ONLY, and are only a few cents at any pet shop. MEAL WORMS are a BIG-NO-NO!!! No nutritional value, and they can CHEW THROUGH A GECKO'S BELLY if the gecko doesn't kill it while it's being chewed.
They need a 10 to 20 gallon tank with a tight-fitting lid (I collect old leaker tanks and lids on garbage day...), a hand-full of silk or plastic plants or a live plant, a place to hide, stuff like driftwood or clean branches to climb on (my tanks look like a playground), 2 small dishes for food and water, and a spray bottle to mist their tank.
I stand the tank on end, because they're arboreal (tree-climbing) geckos, and I use a double layer of paper towels in the bottom of the tank.
They could eat sand or bark and get sick or impacted, and the paper towel just needs to be changed every couple of days...even breeders are using them.
I use empty toilet paper and paper towel tubes for them to hide in. When they get dirty, just dump them!!!
I use a baby-food jar lid for food, and a quart jar lid for water, even though you don't see them drink often-they lap the water off the plants and the walls of the tank most of the time.
For under $100 (if you have an old fish tank laying around), you can have a GREAT PET that will live as long as a dog-possibly longer!!!
The only draw-backs I have found are that they don't run to meet you at the door when you get home, and they'd get squished if you try to cuddle with them in bed at night...

Mr. Triple F-
Abby the Doxy, is actually the SWEETEST little creature you could ever wish to meet!!!
She's very proficient in the art of Tongue Bathing-the only draw-back is that she uses her tongue to "snake-out" noses, much the way a plumber snakes out drains...NOT a pleasant experience.
She's also very well trained in kissing, cuddling and STEALING FOOD FROM PLATES AND DOG DISHES!!!
Hence her "sausage" shape.
I've nick-named her Roly-Poly Puddin'.
Oh yeah-she's also SPOILED ROTTEN!!!

No, business was closed at her death. Property is in Receivership. Husband took everything. I don't have one thing of her's except her wedding gown and college diploma!
Bella was Allison's cat. The others are all rescued. Blue who is now 11 was 10 when I adopted him. No one wants an old cat.

OMG!!! That just sooooo WRONG, Cozy. That SOB should be rotting in HELL for all he did, yet he got EVERYTHING???
There aren't words to express how sorry I am for your family.
"Bella was Allison's cat. The others are all rescued. Blue who is now 11 was 10 when I adopted him. No one wants an old cat."
I know that story...but we never ask for a birth certificate when we take an animal in.
If anything, older animals need and DESERVE a warm, stable loving home for the remainder of their lives. Strays and rescues usually have a VERY hard time while they're on the street-with limited food , fresh water and no place to take shelter from the elements.
THAT'S WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO!!!

My sweet boy kitty looks JUST like your cat, Bella!!! YOur Siamese is GORGEOUS!!! I love the striking features, with the dark muzzle, ears, and sea blue eyes. Is he/she tempermental? Almost every Siamese I have come across has a BIG attitude!!! Very cute though. I love how his bottom teeth poke out!!! Your white cat is beautiful, too!!! Does he shed white hair everywhere? I have roller brushes everywhere in my house!!!

AWWWWWW!!!! I wish I could pick up Blue and pet him/her!!!! SO SWEET!!!!! I need to get Ramses (my cat that looks just like Bella) one of those kitty towers you have. The problem is, every time I go to Petsmart, they are like $100.00 or higher!!! Just for wood, and carpet??????? Do your cats really use it alot? I like how yours has the roller brush things on the sides.

ROFL!!! I took one of my favorite dresses out of the closet, and hung it on my goor, thinking the cat would ignore it. I showered, etc. When I came out of the bathroom, I couldn't find Ramses anywhere!!! He usually is right by the door of the bathroom, and zooms in when I open the door. I looked at the door where my dress was hanging, and it was slightly swaying back and forth. I looked inside my dress, and there he was, hanging on, attacking my dress!!! Thankfully he didn't damage anything. Just fur everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight, Katey and I were in the living room watching TV, and it was raining "pitchforks and hoe-handles" (the Pennsylvania Dutch version of "cats and dogs"-only THIS rain HURTS when it hits you...), when we hear this MEOWING-REALLY LOUD-coming from outside the window.
It keeps up and goes on for like 20 minutes-to the point where it's interfering with the show we're trying to watch.
I grabbed the flashlight and went out to see if the cat was in distress, and to take it a bowl of food.
When I got out there, I looked under the car, and something skittered into the wheel-well.
I called Katey to grab another flashlight, my car keys, and a towel, and we popped the hood and found this TINY little black kitten-about 4 or 5 weeks old. He was scared to death, soaking wet, shivering and has an eye infection.
He's had a bowl of food, a little bowl of warm milk, and right now he's curled up around Katey's neck in bed-right next to my Molly cat, who's been cleaning and snuggling him. I've given him a tony dose of Earli-Worm-just in case, and I'll start him on eye-wash and drops tomorrow. He's been through enough for one night.
Looks like he has a new home-at least for the moment. The SPCA is so overloaded with cats and kittens right now, that I've decided to let him cool his heels here rather than risk such a sweet little guy being euthanized. And the animal shelter is practically euthanizing them as they come in the door...GOD-I HATE THAT PLACE!!
Of course, Katey wants to keep him...
Damn-who told him to come to MY HOUSE??? Do ALL the animals in the area now that the "sucker" lives in the house next to the pool???
He's so pitch black that I couldn't get a good picture of him tonight. I'll try again tomorrow...since he ain't going anywhere anytime soon...

How sweet!!! I also hate the SPCA. Every time I go there, I sooo wish I could adopt every single meowing, barking, scared animal there. I always walk out heart broken, with a prayer in my heart that they will all find homes. (but of course we all know the cold hard truth). That kitten sure has found the RIGHT place!!! You knew I think, just what to do for the little ball of fluff. And I love how your cat just took right to it, and is cleaning it, and loving it!!! I hope you decide to keep it!!!! Good luck with the new kitty!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Loki spent a peaceful night curled up with me and my Molly cat. And woke up SCREAMING HUNGRY this morning.
He's NOT happy being in the bed with Timmy and Snowy, but them's the breaks...either he gets used to them and stops hissing and freaking my beagle out, or he'll be finding a new home.
Imagine a 35 pound beagle backing down from a tiny kitten...and RUNNING FOR COVER BEHIND ME!!!
That's what I'm dealing with.
I don't have a problem with the Erie County SPCA, although Iagree that I just want to take every animal home. They have a VERY high adoption rate ther, with very short stays for the animal, and have wonderful veterinary services available. They were in the running for a one million dollar grant from ZooToo.com, and came in third in the nation!
The Buffalo Animal Shelter, on the other hand, as always had issues. Two years ago, before I found my beagle at the SPCA, I was trying to adopt a blue-tick coon hound who was absolutely adorable.
We filled out the paperwork, and immediately, the guy behind the counter started giving me BS. First he was telling me that they're jumpers, and I'd only get the dog if I had a stockade fence. I told him that coon hounds are scent hounds and didn't jump. Then he said that the dog needed a couple of acres of land, and belonged in the country. I asked him if he REALLY believed that some farmer would come all the way into Buffalo to look for a hound dog, when he could probably find a neighbor with a litter.
It just got worse from there.
One of my friends from a reptile rescue called, and he knows the guy personally, and he asked about the dog, and the guy told him it was going home with a member of HIS STAFF to be adopted!!! Why was it in the pound with an adopted sign on it's cage then??? That's just what my friend asked him, and he said that it's up to him who the dog goes to, and he didn't know me from Adam, so I wasn't getting the dog. My buddy told him that the lady in question was HIS friend, and he'd known me for YEARS, and if that's the way he's going to run the pound, he could kiss my buddy's azz. We even put in a formal complaint with the city, and it wasn't even responded to.
If the place were on fire, I'd rescue the animals and let the guy BURN!

ROFL!!! What an a-hole!!! Do you believe in carma? He will get his own sooner or later. I really hope Loki (what a cute name) learns his manners, so he can stay. Give it about a week, for him to get used to everything, and hopefully he will realize he just hit the jack pot. Your beagle sounds like a really sweet fella!! (or girl?)

Yeah-Timmy is my ninny-boy beagle, and everyone is adjusting.
I know it a matter of time, but Timmy gets his panties in a bunch with ANY change. It's the puppy-mill syndrome. EVERYTHING freaks him out.

Okay-after two weeks-during which I had a major collision with my car, Loki has been hanging with us at my mom's. She is NOT a cat person-she'd never hurt a kitty, she just isn't into them-she's fallen in LOVE with our little guy!
I'm finally home, and downloaded the pics.
