Let me try to get this straight.
You are wrong when you say i viewed slaves as inanimate. i have never said i agree that slaves were inanimate and i think you know this. i do not agree with that description. i don't agree with slave owners description that they were inhuman or any other other desctriptions used either.

I have posted information on how slave owners and the larger society viewed them.

coconut trees will not grow. Fort Pierce is the northern most city that can maintain a proper climate for coconut palms. But the Cut off for the warmth is below Fort Pierce on the Atlantic side and I would suppose Sarasota on the Gulf Coast!

I am sure that all of Florida is beautiful. There is something about that area from Panama City to Pensacola that makes me feel relaxed. I have been in Panama City at the time of spring break and had to learn the back roads to stay off the miracle mile pr whatever they call it. There is a miracle mile close to where I live but its nothing like Panama City's-just shops and rude people,

I just went back 10 pages & it's all about food & partying. Since when did this turn into a chat thread?

Since OJ was put in jail - I think we ran out of topics - is that possible - I miss everybody!

I think we should meet at Suzie's, because of the pies. I don't want anything to injure those and I nominate mine for the next one followed by yours.:) I would also like to add that we continue to throw parties, because, unlike the verdict, the alcohol has a tendency to give us lots to discuss, smile. Hi Diva! I'm not much of a chit-chatter myself but if this is going to continue it probably needs it's own thread. I think William is just the person to start it. :)

I appreciate you recognition of my leadership qualities. However, I am not campaigning for any position, although I am not ruling out any future possibilities. I was pleased to see that posters shared my interest in pastries and alcohol and that the interest sparked a change toward friendship. I hope that others, who do not have similar interests and do not want to be a part of our party, will form their own party and we can have party affiliation discussions on the merits of both views. Oh no, that sounds like a political discussion. You think the respective candidates have a sugar and alcohol high, or lack thereof? :) I think our party should be called the RAPP party. Rum and Pastry Party, smile.

I am personally not bothered by taking some time-outs for parties, I think this previous one did some good and allowed us the opportunity to perhaps lighten up for a moment and share some banter.

I realize that the topic of OJ Simpson and where we stand automatically seems to place some of us on opposite ends of the universe, and we focus on that and defend our positions. I just think that, every now and again, it's pleasant to get a little side topic going on pesonal tastes outside the topic at hand and gain a little more insight to those we encounter on this forum on an almost daily basis.

I vote for truly creating a seperate "party" thread, and if people are interested then I will start it.

I am happy to see that you have volunteered and I can think of no one better qualified for the particular mission. I think that your credentials are unquestionable and, after giving it some sober thought, :), I have decided that you have displayed the character to unite this board and to lead it in the proper direction. I am pleased to endorse you. :)

I see that you are easily persuaded. Can I ask you to join our RAPP party or, if you are not so inclined, might I suggest that, if you are a member of the opposing party, that you name it the ICPP (Icing Cake Pineapple Party)?:)

No, I did not mean that you were opposed to thread. I thought that you were opposed to the type of cake and there may be some who share you view, which is why is suggested there be two parties and we could have discussions on those views. We could sample each others pastries and alcohol and see if we can agree on the best or maybe even decide that they are equally good. we may even form treaties and exchange recipes. :)

Here is an excellent link on the jury instructions and the prosecution's argument. It appears that Galanter did not raise the Constitutionality of the claim of right being denied as a defense to robbery but only argued it for the purpose of intent. As I recall, there is a general intent applied to the crime of robbery, which would make the it virtually impossible to negate intent as the law states "unlawful taking." In other words it made no difference that Simpson believed the property was his, the only thing the prosecution had to prove was that he intended to take the property. With the research I have done, it seems that Galanter did not raise the due process violation under the Constitution and that issue can not be raised in a federal appeal. Here is the link with some of the instructions.
