Mysterious Light Caught On Fitness Club's Cam
Images Captured On Sept. 12
POSTED: 10:36 am CDT September 23, 2008
UPDATED: 6:52 pm CDT September 23, 2008
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- A surveillance camera at a workout club recently caught some mysterious images when no one was inside the building.
Like the name implies, Anytime Fitness is open around the clock. The idea is that people can work in a workout at their convenience.
KMBC's Bev Chapman reported that the fitness club looks like any other new, well-equipped place until you look at the surveillance video. (video at the link)
"Every day when I come in, I review my surveillance. 'What did I miss while I was asleep?'" said Kim Peterson of Anytime Fitness.
But Peterson said she has no idea what she missed when some mysterious images were recorded on Sept. 12.
"They're motion cameras. So I thought, what motion is triggering it? And we kind of got a series of weird pictures we could not explain," Peterson said.
Peterson said she knows there was no one in the building when the camera started recording.
"At 1:59, you see the last member of the night leaving," Peterson told Chapman. "It shows the street as well."
But inside the empty building there appears to be some kind of light.
"It starts at 2:20 a.m. and goes on until about 4:14 in the morning, kind of off and on," Peterson said.
Chapman reported that no one shows up outside of the building after the last man leaves, shining a light inside. And Peterson said lights have never activated her cameras before.
"(I) called the security company and they said, 'We don't know why that light would make the camera kick on, but it sure is interesting. Can we download a copy?'" Peterson said.
Peterson said some of her customers are having fun with the idea of naming the fitness phantom with Halloween a month away.
"I'm a very open-minded person. I'm willing to look at and consider any possibility. It's certainly nothing that frightens me," Peterson said.
The security camera records at one frame a second, so the video is a little jerky.

Girl, you are BRAVE!!!!! I really believe there are good spirits, as well as evil spirits. It's the bad ones that get me freaked out!!! I have never had an experience with "seeing spirits". I know they exist, but I think I would have a coronary if something were to happen, not knowing if it is good, or bad. I try to live my life the best way I can, by prayer, reading my scriptures, and keeping my thoughts, and my home, as pure as is possible (sometimes it is DANG HARD) to invite a good spirit to "protect" me.
When I was serving a mission for my church, I had a REALLY scary experience with a girl who was possesed with an evil spirit. If anyone is interested, I will share it. But until then, (I would share it,) but don't know how it would be received.

To me ghosts, spirits, or whatever you choose to call them, are just as natural as everyone else. I've seen and felt them my entire life. Most don't even realize that you are around or that they might scare you. Some give you warnings or messages. Some aren't so safe or friendly.
I just think of them as energy (both negative and positive). Energy cannot be destroyed, so it only makes sense to me that the energy we generate while we are living would be transformed into a different form of energy when we die.

The LAST thing I want to do is offend anyone.
OK. I am not sure where to start. I don't know if you guys are familiar with the Mormon Church, or "The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints." (no we are NOT related to the FLDS church, that practices ploygamy.) They are a break off of our church, just like how Methodist, etc. are break offs of the Catholic church. (I hope I don't offend anyone by that comment, if you study the history of religion, you would find that statement to be true.)
Anyways, back in 1993-1994, I served an 18 month mission for my church, in the New Hampshire Manchester mission, that included New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Parts of Massachusetts. I was serving in Portland Maine, and met a couple, named Christine, and Paul. Something seemed a little off with Christine, but we felt we could at least bring the light of Christ into their lives.
We, as missionaries, have a set of 6 discussions, that go over "Our Heavenly Father's Plan," and how families can be together forever, etc. (I am trying to not be so religious about this-this is the only way I know how to tell the story). Anyways, we met in their home, and taught them the first discussion, and talked about The savior Jesus Christ, and how he died to atone for our sins. (I am doing it again!!! sorry) Every time Christine would talk, she would sound REALLY child like, and say things like "Jesus is my new friend." We finished the 1st appointment, and then we set another appointment, for the second discussion for the next day.
The next day, we went to their house, and Paul was friendly, and warned us that Christine "wasn't herself." We didn't know right off what that meant, but we sat down, and asked them questions about what they remembered about yesterday's discussion. Paul said that he remembered a little, but not much. I was sitting right next to Christine, and she had her head down, with her hair around her face, so I couldn't see her face. She was breathing slow, but loudly. My companion was sitting in front of her, and could see her face. I said, "Christine, what do you remember about Jesus Christ?" Her breathing all of a sudden became really fast, like a dog panting. (I was starting to get a little scared) She all of a sudden, looked up, and barred her teeth, and growled. We knew then, that we weren't looking at Christine, but at some evil spirit. Not knowing what to do, I put my hand on her back, to calm her down. The second I touched her, she literally shook like a leaf, and looked terrified. I thought I would try an experiment, and took my hand off of her. She again barred her teeth, and looked like she hated me. Several times, I tried this, by putting my hand on, then off of her, and got the same results every time. Paul shouted at her, screaming "Christine not this again!!! Where are you?" My companion and I tried to keep our cool, but we were scared spitless!!! The feeling was dark, and heavy, like a sickening suffocating syrup. I needed out ASAP. I knew, and felt, that as representatives of Jesus Christ, that we were protected. But we both made a hasty exit, promising Paul that we would call him, to check up on things. Neither me, or my companion, have EVER had an experience like that, and didn't know how to react correctly to it. We called Paul later, and he asked if we could bring the Elders (boy missionaries) with us, to give him a blessing.
During the first discussion with Paul and Christine, we taught them after the apostles were killed after the Savior was crucified, that there was no one left on earth that held the Priesthood, and that the Lord withdrew the Priesthood from the earth for awhile. That time was the dark ages. Joseph Smith, in the 1800's, was chosen to restore the Church of Jesus Christ, and Peter, James and John appeared to him and Oliver Cowdry, and restored the proper priesthood authority to them, so they could administer it to all worthy male members.
FYI just so we are on the same page, that was just a little Church history that's all :)
BACK TO THE STORY: Paul smoked and drank heavily, and was sick quite often. The elders agreed to come with us to their house, so they could give him a blessing. Christine was her child-like way when we got there (thank heavens). The elder that gave the blessing, told us afterwards, that the second he laid his hands on Paul's head, that he felt Christine's evil spirit SO stongly, that it nearly knocked him off of his feet. He then saw this thick, syruppy blackness, pour out of Christine, and leave the home. He then said that his mind then became clear, and he was able to give Paul the blessing, in the name of Jesus Christ. (all blessings are FYI). I asked him how come we left in such a hurry afterwards, and he said that he was worried that Christine would invite the evil spirit back, and he didn't want to be around when it did. (BOY WAS I GREATFUL!!!!)
Anyways, I got transferred to a different area, and haven't seen Christine or Paul since. But that is an experience I will NEVER forget!!!!!
Thanks for putting up with all of the religious connotations - that is just the ONLY way for me to properly tell the story. :seeya:

Here in prairieland we have plenty of old ghost towns with their cemetaries LONG abandoned. When I was younger we would track these places down and explore. Some of those places gave me really weird feelings and others nothing. We would then research the different histories and find that in the ones that gave us strange vibes were ones that had people that died suspiciously.

How old were these tombstones dated? The oldest ones I have seen, is when I was in New Hampshire. We had to use paper and crayon to make out the date on some of them. There was a family plot, with a now missing fence, that dated 1698. Some locals have told us of some in the surrounding area dating back in the 1500's. Pretty cool.

Thanks!!!! Cemeteries don't bother me either. I go to the Salt Lake cemetery all of the time, basically to do history, and to see if I have any Pioneer relatives there. So far, I have a few that I didn't know about. The history part of it though, that I hate, is the movies "Poltergeist" were filmed in the Jewish part of the cemetery, because of the huge tombstones, and mausoleums. I HATE those movies!!! Gave me too many nightmares as a kid. :chicken:
