I must say I do not think anything new has happened with this case. But it hits close to home as this is my husbands cousin.

He was only 4 years old at the time of his disappearance.

His mother, Raven, died in an automobile "accident" in 2004

Hey, Sorry it took so long to get back here. I wanted to ask my husband what all he knew first.. Turns out he doesnt remember much..

I did find this: http://www.crimeandjustice.us/forums/index.php?showtopic=31

And a short youtube tribute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WBssCtKkbs&feature=user

I know its a very slim chance that something will come out of me posting this, but at this point I'll try anything since there are so many excellent slueths on this board.

I am going to keep bugging my husband to see if theres anyone in the family that can give me any more details. He did tell me though that it was a dirt road they refer to in the articles.. and it IS close to a main road although he couldnt remember the name.

Even if theres nothing anyone can really do at least I am getting it back out there for people to be aware of.

Hi, Brandy. I'm so sorry for the loss of this boy. In the one link it states he had a legal guardian but the missing poster says non-family abduction. Do you know who his legal guardian was and was that person(s) not the parent(s)?

I remember you telling me about this case Bran. It is a very sad case,
:rose: but in my opinion there is a good chance the one who was loooking after him had something to do with it. Sorry if it sounds cruel but something about the story just doesn't ring true..Maybe its just me..

Yes his Mothers uncle and aunt had custody of him as his mother was only 15 when he was born-- then the Aunt passed away and Uncle could no longer care for him- so he then gave custody to the boys Great- Aunt/Uncle.

I know thats a bit confusing.

I dont think that at all... Apparently the great- aunt was asleep - thinking he was also asleep and he wandered outside... Like the articles say the two dogs made it back home but he didnt.

When I asked My husband, who doesnt remember much- He said that a few weeks after he went missing... Some people at a grocery store thought they had saw the boy there-- Now why they didnt do anything is beyond me.. It is very sad :(

I see what you're saying Bran..I just thought the great aunt would have been more watchful that's all..Still very sad..

Are there any pictures of what he may look like now? I am wondering if anyone ever did a computerized picture of what he may look like now that he is older. I have never heard of this case before but reading it and looking at the picture he resembles a boy I know. This sounds crazy I know. I would really like to see what he would look like being older. The boy I know also has a scar on his neck. The boy is 10 years old but is large for his age. I know rationally it's probably not him but it just makes me wonder.

Young Boy's Life Takes Many Turns

. . . . . Buddy enjoyed swimming.

Buddy Myers's life had taken too many turns for just a four year old boy. He was born to a teenage mother in Metairie, Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans. Buddy's mother, being just a child herself, felt she was ill equipped to care for him so she gave custody to her parents. Her parents happily accepted this responsibility and began trying to create a comfortable home for Buddy. But it wouldn't be long before tragedy would strike this household.

Forensic experts created this age enhanced photo of how Buddy may look at 8

In the summer of 2000 Buddy's grandparents were no longer able to care for him. Buddy's grandmother had been diagnosed with cancer and the burden off the illness had become too much for the elderly couple. Once again Buddy would have to adapt to a new family.

Buddy was sent to live in Roseboro, North Carolina with John Myers, his grandmother's brother and his wife, Donna. It was here where Buddy learned to swim, enjoyed playing with his toys and took a strong liking to the two family dogs, Sasha (a baby Doberman) and Buck (a three-legged mutt). They describe "Buddy" as a curious and friendly little boy who would talk to just about anyone.

This is what "Buddy" Myers might look like four years older.

Just As Buddy Began To Get Some Stability...He Disappeared

On the afternoon of Thursday, October 5, 2000 as Buddy's aunt Donna laid on the couch, Buddy decided to take the two dogs out for a walk. That afternoon turned out to be the last time anybody saw Buddy. When Donna woke up and discovered Buddy missing along with her two dogs she ran looking for them in the fields, houses and back trails. She could not find Buddy anywhere. The family called police and they conducted a massive search of the surrounding area but found no sign of Buddy or the dogs.

Then, mysteriously on October 10, Buck, the mutt, came home. Sadly, Buddy and Sasha did not. But after Buddy's story aired on AMW on October 14, 2000, Sasha mysteriously came home. Again, Buddy was not with the puppy. Buddy's family grew more worried, but not hopeless.

Was Buddy Found?

In February 2003, a man, walked into a Chicago area hospital with a malnourished 6-year-old child who resembled Buddy. After doctors noticed inconsistencies in their stories they contacted local authorities who then contacted the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. A case manager there had reason to believe that this child was Buddy Myers. The family and law enforcement were hopeful as they awaited DNA results. However, those hopes were dashed as the DNA results proved this child was not, in fact, Tristan Buddy Myers.

Though Tristan Buddy Myers remains missing, his family remains hopeful that someone out there knows something and they pray everyday for Buddy's safe return.
