GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: Former LAPD homicide detective Mark Fuhrman is on the ground in Florida, investigating the murder of toddler Caylee Anthony. And a ham sandwich has become a big clue. Mark joins us live from Orlando. Mark, when I got the word that a ham sandwich somehow figured into this -- we always make that crack about you can indict a ham sandwich. I thought that was the reference and that my leg was getting pulled, but -- a ham sandwich is a clue in this case, isn't it.

MARK FUHRMAN, FMR LAPD HOMICIDE DETECTIVE: Well, ham and cheese. There's kind of a dispute here. And of course, we know when the vehicle was finally recovered from Johnson's Tow and there was a smell of...

VAN SUSTEREN: Meaning -- meaning -- let me stop you for a second. You mean Casey's -- the car Casey had been driving, right?

FUHRMAN: Yes. Casey Anthony has the car that -- the Sunbird, the white Sunbird that George and Cindy Anthony gave Casey to drive. Now, that's impounded, and when it's recovered, there is the odor of a decomposing body is a description from the Anthonys, George and Cynthia. But there's garbage in there, too, and in that garbage there is food items. Now, one side, law enforcement, said there's no meat, but they list there's cheese. And then the other side says there's ham and cheese in there that was causing the smell. So this is -- this is one of those disputes that should be fact, but it's become kind of an issue now. That's the beginning.

VAN SUSTEREN: Where -- where is -- what happened -- I mean, when the police impounded this car, I would assume that they recovered everything. Can't you just look at the sandwich and see whether there was ham in it or not? Where is this?

FUHRMAN: Well, it was -- from what I'm hearing, it wasn't a sandwich. There was actually physically, you know, a group (ph) of ham and group (ph) of cheese that was purchased. Now, what's odd is, is when the vehicle was impounded and George Anthony two weeks later goes to recover it, he goes there and he starts cleaning out the car, leaves the impound yard, goes and gets some gas, comes back. And then he comes and they report this odor to the police. Well, George and Cynthia, while they're there with the police, they say, Oh, I cleaned out the car and I threw away this -- this bag of garbage. So the police go back out to Johnson's Tow and recover it out of the garbage can in which they threw it, and that is what is in dispute. Now, what didn't make it out of the garbage can into police evidence, that's up to argument on both sides, I guess.


VAN SUSTEREN: I guess the jury will decide that one. All right. Tony Lazzaro is the former boyfriend of Casey. What's new about him, or what are we learning new about him?

FUHRMAN: OK. There was something we've been trying to work on. We're trying to get confirmation that Anthony Lazzaro or somebody else picked up Casey Anthony at Amscot's check cashing on the 27th. When her car supposedly stopped running, was broken down, ran out of gas, whatever reason, she parked it at Amscot's check cashing. So we wondered where did she go, who picked her up? Well, we got confirmation from somebody very close to the case today that Anthony Lazzaro actually picked her up at Amscot's check cashing. Now, what's interesting about that, it has to come from Anthony Lazzaro and/or Casey Anthony because all those video surveillance cameras, none of it was recorded. It's on a digital system. They have to trap it and then record it on a DVD to memorialize it, and if not, it's just lost. It is lost.

VAN SUSTEREN: All right. So apparently, the -- the video (INAUDIBLE) at least the same place as the ham or maybe no ham, which is a freak thing turns out to be of some significance to the case, and both sides will be fighting about that one. Mark, thank you.

As has been said over and over on this and other boards--the only thing we can be sure was the truth that came from Casey's mouth is HER NAME AND ADDRESS. And, I think if it hadn't been confirmed by outside sources, some of us might have been questioning if she was telling the truth on that!!!! :cool:

Mark Fuhrman AND GVS need to go back and read up on this case. CAREFULLY. From the interviews w/George and Mr Burch, the towyard manager. They open the trunk. They throw the garbage bag into the dumpster. Neither say any garbage was left in the trunk. George goes on his way (with the windows down, the smell is so bad) and the car is cleaned after it gets to the A's. Mark seems to intimate that George called the police about the odor while he was @ the towyard. George doesn't even call the police, Cindy does. And, Cindy's intent on the call IS NOT to report the smell, but to report her granddaughter missing, and incidently tells of the dead body smell. Police GO TO the towyard dumpster (not BACK OUT TO--because they had not been there before, on this case.)

Has he not read any of the interviews in his investigation? IF HE HAD, he would know the information not only came from someone close to the case--IT CAME FROM ANTHONY LAZZARO HIMSELF!!!! And, if he would bother checking the interviews, the reason it would not be on the Amscot tapes is because he SAYS--she was walking up the street, away from the car when he picked her up. Speculation from posters on message boards is that she did not want to take the chance that he would notice the smell.

If Mark Fuhrman is all GVS has on this case, she might as well hang it up and go to politics, maybe covering the impeachment of Blogajovich (sp) in Illinois or something. For Pete's sake, the man acts like he is telling information that NO ONE HAS KNOWN until he uncovered it. His information is MONTHS old!!!!!

And, I wonder how these lawyers came on the scene. Baez--now, I don't believe for one second that she found his number on the wall. (Hmmm.....OTOH, maybe like someone's number on the phone booth--for a good time call....????? :no:) Got his name from other inmates? Maybe they were women who he got off some charge (DUI, prostituting) and they flubbed up again? Or, did he see his golden opportunity for a high profile case and introduced himself?

I got to thinking, when you go to Jose's website, you can't get past the home page. No matter what link you click, it refreshes to home page. Wonder exactly WHO is listed on the attorney page? What names have popped up in this case would we find, if we could get to that page?

Well, I guess there have been links to Luka and to Conway and NeJames--all seem to be from other law firms, but it did cross my mind.

And, Lee says when he went into the garage, the smell was overwhelming. He laughed because it was so terrible that he couldn't stay in there.

That really makes me happy to hear this. Casey looked pretty scraggly in one of her jailhouse visits with her parents. Her hair looked quite greasy and a small chunk kept falling down on her forehead.

Our hot water heater went out last weekend, and before we could get it replaced I had to take sponge baths for three days without washing my hair, and I felt AWFUL. I can just imagine what poor little princess Casey feels like.

If she had a monthly service/bill LE would be aware of it. If it was one of those pay as you go phones possibly not, but IIRC she tried to pay a past due bill of over $500 with one of those stolen checks.

Also, IIRC she gave LE that song and dance about the sim card from the phone she lost and how she didn't have anyones phone number. LE knew about both phones - just that they weren't able to locate the "lost phone". Now if Lee were hiding it he'd find himself in a heap o' trouble IMO.

Well, Mister Smarty Pants High Profile Lawyer Extrodinaire---DON'T YA THINK IF YOU HADN'T OPPOSED THE GAG ORDER, THERE WOULDN'T BE TELEVISION OR ANY OTHER COVERAGE OF YOUR CLIENT? Oh, yeah, the gag order would keep Baez, Luka and Conway off the airwaves. No more GMA, NG, GVS, LKL, no more on the street press converences with Kathy, Jessica and the others? NOW we know why he opposed the gag order. HE'd be having media withdrawals, to say nothing about the fact that what he and the other A's lawyers are doing are TAINING THE JURY POOL!!!! I haven't seen or heard from LE or the prosecution on all these shows, and VERY few pc's @ all!!!!

Judge Strickland said when he was considering the gag orders that it would not pertain to the grandparents. The only people the gag order would affect would be defense attorneys, law enforcement and the state's attorneys. Lee, Cindy and George would have been excluded.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- Casey Anthony will be present for a motion hearing on Friday as a judge rules on several motions filed by her defense team.

The hearing will be heard by Circuit Judge Stan Strickland at 8:30 a.m. at the Orange County Court House.

The motions include the defendant's motion to inspect crime scene, defendant's amended application for subpeona duces tecum and the state of Florida's motion to strike the defense's witness list.

Yes, I recall Casey telling Lee that she got Jose's name from other inmates. Can you just picture it? Casey consults the crackheads and meth attics: "So, do you know a good lawyer? I'm gonna need one." They say: "Call Jose!" She takes their word for it.

I truly believe that all the semi-normal Anthony's (CA, GA, LA) were put at a huge disadvantage when Casey called Jose and retained him as counsel. Because A) Jose is VERY inexperienced; B) He immediately drove a wedge between Casey and her family's attempts to locate Caylee; and C) His arrival forestalled any chance the Anthony's might have had to either press for a confession or retain a BETTER attorney for Casey (not that we really want Casey to have a better attorney).

But you can tell Lee is kinda puzzled about how Casey wound up with Jose. And he tells her that nothing is permanent, that if she doesn't like Jose, she can fire him.

If I watch her show, I go to the bathroom, or let the dogs in or out or something for the first 5 minutes or so. It is crap, even if you are someone who never followed the case. Nope she said it again last night. And the breaking news thing is always shown on her show. Quite honestly you really only have to watch her show for around 9 minutes and you know the whole show. I don't know why her show is not just a half hour. It really is not very good.

Judge Strickland said when he was considering the gag orders that it would not pertain to the grandparents. The only people the gag order would affect would be defense attorneys, law enforcement and the state's attorneys. Lee, Cindy and George would have been excluded.

BUT, it would have solved the problem about Casey going to the hearings--maybe there could be photo ops (with no stops for comments, imprompty pc's--I have no more questions) but no cameras to watch her in the hearing, seeing her reactions, etc etc etc. No staring @ her to try to determine if she is fat because of the change of life style and eating habits, or if there is more scandalous reason for weight gain, (I'm not buying the rash, boil, lice thing.)

Hey!!!! They have nurses in the infirmary--it would be in the jail's best interest to try to get rid of any lice infestation. She mentioned the lice Wednesday or Thursday? You know, when my kids were in school, they were only out for the amount of time it took to perform the rid treatment process. I'm sure (since her hair isn't all that long) that by Friday morning she could have already taken care of the lice problem. And, for her room--remove the mattress and blanket and pillow. Don't think there is much else there that will need treated.

I saw some pics on another site--the one where Casey was in Hawaii for Uncle Rick's wedding (and she was pregnant) and a pic of her @ a hearing near the beginning, and a pic of her @, I am assuming, the hearing last week. Now, she might be a couple of pounds heavier in the hearing pics, but it's hard to tell, they are taken from different angles. However, since she has her arms crossed, and the pic does NOT go below her arms, there is NO view of her abdomen @ all, and IMO does not tell us if she if pregnant or not. I'm thinking there are people who want her to be, and by Baez they will read anything into anything. Me, I'll wait until there are better pics, or if it is confirmed, if it is true.

I remember going from an active high school senior to a much less active college freshman. Even tho there were physical activities (no car, had to walk to campus, grocery, etc) my activity level was much less, and there were a lot more carbs and fats in the food I ate. Result--weight gain of about #20 the first year. We're looking @ a girl who is used to being out and about, dancing (which can take up calories as does having sex) probably eating rather nutritional food, to one who is confined pretty much to a cell, eating a diet pretty unfriendly to a weight watcher, and snacking on twinkies and pork rinds (which have no fat, by the way.) I can easily see a #20 weight gain on diet and activity changes alone.

"That ship has sailed. The minute that crime scene was processed, the evidentiary value of visiting that scene ends. Period," WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said.

Sheaffer told Eyewitness News the defense team's insistence on examining the crime scene now defies logic, but he understands the reasons why the defense would want EquuSearch records involving any search it might have done there before December 11.

The defense wants to try to show the body was not there when EquuSearch was at the scene in November, but somehow appeared there in December while Casey was still behind bars on no bond.

"Open a thousand oysters and, by gosh, maybe you'll get one pearl," Sheaffer said.

Friday morning's hearing will cover several topics and motions. Judge Stan Strickland will address the trial date status, the defense motion to inspect the crime scene, the defense amended application for subpoena duces tecum (requires a witness to bring to court or to a deposition any relevant documents under the witness's control), the state of Florida motion to strike defense witness list and the defense's emergency motion to recuse.

Attorney Jose Baez also requested (read motion) all fingerprint-related evidence, any DNA reports that show Casey's former fiancee Jesse Grund was not Caylee's father, and materials regarding the decomposing hair found in Casey's trunk. No hearing date has been set for that motion.

Orange Circuit Court Judge Stan Strickland just denied Anthony's efforts to not be there.

Earlier this week, Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, filed an objection to Strickland's order that required Anthony to be at all court hearings except for ones dealing with routine scheduling issues.

The attorney ticked off nearly a dozen reasons why she shouldn't be forced to attend, including how the media focuses on her appearance and generates "unsubstantiated rumors" about her physical condition and the constant negative exposure further erodes her right to a fair trial.

Like I said, when I went off to college, with a change in activity level and a change in food consumption, I packed on a few pounds, as did many of my classmates. Until I hear official declarations of her being pregnant, I will probably think it was the changes that cause her to gain weight.

But an informed source says officials at the Orange County (FL) Jail “have to take the complaint seriously because head lice would be an issue that might affect other prisoners or staff and people in the courtroom.”

“Does Casey Anthony really have head lice or scabies? I doubt it,” the source told me exclusively. “But they’ll check her out just to make sure.

“She’s been complaining about a boil for several days and also about a rash. I seriously doubt the court will excuse her from court on Friday.

“She’s obviously willing to make any excuse to stay out of the public spotlight and media circus that will be waiting for her at the courthouse.”

The spokesman for Casey Anthony's defense attorney -- a man whose news releases triggered a recent Florida Bar investigation -- just told the Orlando Sentinel that Todd Black is not his real name.

Black said in a telephone interview this morning that it is an "abbreviated" last name he's used professionally.

Black did not say what his legal name is.

Black has acted as a spokesman for lawyer Jose Baez through a company called Press Corps Media. He will not participate in in-person media interviews and has faxed most of his news releases, which appear to be written on a typewriter.


After the initial interview with Black this morning, a Sentinel reporter left the spokesman a voicemail asking that he again clarify what his legal name is.

Another Press Corps Media contact, Sabrina Cane, responded by sending an e-mail stating that Black was in the middle of a "Do Not Disturb" case conference.

"In general we can tell you that it's been standard procedure for many years to have our company's story reps utilize abbreviated names for security purposes, most especially now with the Casey Anthony Case that is overrun with hostile attitudes and serious threats that have been generated by negative media coverage," the e-mail stated.

Multiple attempts to reach Black or Cane through that e-mail addresses have been unsuccessful -- an "undeliverable" return e-mail states that address is not accepting any mail.

The Florida Bar initiated an investigation into Baez in October after the State Attorney's Office faxed several releases from Black to the Bar. Two of the releases criticized State Attorney Lawson Lamar.

The Bar found that no disciplinary proceedings against Baez were appropriate, and closed the file Jan. 22.

One letter submitted to the Bar was from Press Corps Media and its president, Peter Tillman. The Sentinel attempted to contact Tillman by leaving a voicemail at the telephone number provided on the letterhead, but Black returned the phone call.

"He's not interested in discussing anything with you," Black said of Tillman.

That has to be it. Cindy called the police because she wouldn't tell where Caylee was. She said on Greta that if Casey had something to do with it she belonged in jail. George asked the detectives that if it turned out Casey was involved to tell him first, so he could tell Cindy. They knew she was guilty. Then all of a sudden everything changed.

Casey has something on them and it is very bad. I have wondered if it might be that Lee is Caylee's dad, but that is just speculation on my part. Either that or they helped her cover up the crime in some way. JMO

About Jesse and the paternity test, I wouldn't be surprised to hear the defense toss out the idea that Jesse and/or his family may have messed w/the DNA test somehow to show Caylee wasn't his child when, in fact, she really was. They love to toss stuff out to see what sticks. IMO, this will be their new thing.

The last time that test came up it was sent to the FBI as a baseline sample of Caylee, and then OC asked to compare her sample with Lee.

If it was mentioned in the docs, shouldn't it have already been sent to Baez? And if it was in the gap in the disclosure, when would he normally get it?

Whether she will be forced to appear remains to be seen.

But an informed source says officials at the Orange County (FL) Jail “have to take the complaint seriously because head lice would be an issue that might affect other prisoners or staff and people in the courtroom.”

“Does Casey Anthony really have head lice or scabies? I doubt it,” the source told me exclusively. “But they’ll check her out just to make sure.

“She’s been complaining about a boil for several days and also about a rash. I seriously doubt the court will excuse her from court on Friday.

“She’s obviously willing to make any excuse to stay out of the public spotlight and media circus that will be waiting for her at the courthouse.”

As we reported on Wednesday, Casey Anthony has been pestering jail staff and medical personnel with a range of medical complaints.

Criminitly!!!! For pete's sake, get some calomine freaking lotion for the stupid rash. A little 3 antibiotic cream on the boil (I'm sure if there isn't any in the infirmary, it is easy enough for someone to take an order to a local pharmacy to get some. Heck, most people have to go to work even if they have those problems--I've worked 12 hour shifts with a freaking boil, as I am sure other have. As for the lice or scabies, like the article says, the jail staff doesn't want to have a full outbreak, they will treat those immediately. (If she's been seen much by the infirmary staff w/her multiple complaints, they would have seen lice or scabies--not hard to see @ all.) It's not like it's a treatment that takes forever to get rid of them. Her hair is short, comb that RID thru her hair, probably 1/2 hour to 45 minutes @ the most.

And, what the heck does she do in her cell all day? Oh, SITTING around, reading, eating and such? So, I don't see where sitting in a hearing is going to be any different. :flamemad:

The spokesman for Casey Anthony's defense attorney -- a man whose news releases triggered a recent Florida Bar investigation -- just told the Orlando Sentinel that Todd Black is not his real name.

Black said in a telephone interview this morning that it is an "abbreviated" last name he's used professionally.

Black did not say what his legal name is.

Black has acted as a spokesman for lawyer Jose Baez through a company called Press Corps Media. He will not participate in in-person media interviews and has faxed most of his news releases, which appear to be written on a typewriter.


After the initial interview with Black this morning, a Sentinel reporter left the spokesman a voicemail asking that he again clarify what his legal name is.

Another Press Corps Media contact, Sabrina Cane, responded by sending an e-mail stating that Black was in the middle of a "Do Not Disturb" case conference.

"In general we can tell you that it's been standard procedure for many years to have our company's story reps utilize abbreviated names for security purposes, most especially now with the Casey Anthony Case that is overrun with hostile attitudes and serious threats that have been generated by negative media coverage," the e-mail stated.

Multiple attempts to reach Black or Cane through that e-mail addresses have been unsuccessful -- an "undeliverable" return e-mail states that address is not accepting any mail.

The Florida Bar initiated an investigation into Baez in October after the State Attorney's Office faxed several releases from Black to the Bar. Two of the releases criticized State Attorney Lawson Lamar.

The Bar found that no disciplinary proceedings against Baez were appropriate, and closed the file Jan. 22.

One letter submitted to the Bar was from Press Corps Media and its president, Peter Tillman. The Sentinel attempted to contact Tillman by leaving a voicemail at the telephone number provided on the letterhead, but Black returned the phone call.

"He's not interested in discussing anything with you," Black said of Tillman.

1. Everything we have heard from anyone--She was already @ least 6 weeks pregnant when she MET Jesse Grund.
2. Jesse Grund has proof that he is not Caylee's father. According to him, and I THINK to Cindy, he had a paternity test taken @ the behest of his family. He is not the biofather, but was willing to take on that role. I do believe he gave LE the non-paternity papers, and if he did not, they could serve a warrant to the testing site to get not only HIS DNA, but also Caylee's--which, of course, they had for the comparison. (Hint, hint, Mr Baez--WHY DON'T YOU GET THE SAME INFO FROM THE TESTING LAB???? HUH???? HUH???? Oh, yeah, why should he have to do any work if the DA already has that info? That's my understanding. Casey banned him from her house the first day she was out on bail. He maintained contact w/the A's I think until he revoked bail. Once he did that, it was bar the door, Lillie!!! The only other contact I think he has had was when the A's went to Blanchard Park when he had divers there. Now, I know people and some reporters, talk show hosts said there was a knockdown dragout fight. I watched the video, there WAS an arguement, but it was quiet enough you could not hear. Mr Milktoast (I forget HIS name, too, the kidfinder guy, Dennis Milstead?) was shoving a cameraman, but the A's and LP did NOT have a big fight.

Anyway, I don't think they have been in contact, @ least not in person meeting since that time. However, Rob Dick WAS on friendly terms w/the A's @ Blanchard Park, and LP says Rob and George are good friends (more like, Rob is the only friend George has now.) I would hate to think that he would be betraying that lonely friendship to pump info to LP.

Watching that video with Lee was just painful. To see Casey's reactions and her obvious lies. She acted like a spoiled brat. When Lee was asking her about specific clues, she would say things like, "absolutely" or "you're on the money." She even threw her friends under the bus by suggesting they might have something to do with Caylee's disappearance. Of course it was all in veiled language, but Casey would say things like "we definitely can't rule that out." Huh? Lee is asking her about numbers she called, and if they might be involved (in the kidnapping, implied) and she just lies, lies, lies.

I've been thinking about the duct tape. Do we know if the tape was placed around Caylee's mouth? Could they tell that? If so, I think placing it around her mouth was Casey's way of saying to Caylee something along the order of "See, I told you I'd shut you up." Kind of a final "gotcha," message to Caylee.

I just don't know if this was a accidental killing (like an overdose), or Casey blew her stack and killed Caylee in a fit of rage, or she planned to get back at her mother and take away what Cindy loved most.

I don't think she has any remorse, except that she got caught.

I think she went back to the house at some point and got the blanket and toys to put with Caylee. That tells me that whoever killed her had emotional ties to her. If she doesn't act shocked and surprised, no show. I like when she asks questions she knows the answer to, like "could there be fingerprints on duct tape?" and looks attentive every time. The only time she surprised me was when she didn't know bone was a tissue, and you could see her skepticism and desire to confront, but she stopped herself...she wasn't just "playing dumb" that time!

I still don't think this explanation could cover it. Rigor doesn't set in for some time and even then it does go away so why couldn't she just shut the mouth like people often close their loved ones eyes? I don't know how much she complained of this and that on a medical basis before her incarceration. Unless the insurance rules of either her mom's insurance or the laws of FL re:insurance are different, Casey would not be on her mom's insurance @ this point, and hopping to the doc for every little sneeze would not be financially reasonable. Cindy has BC/BS from what I have read. I have BC, and once the dependant is 19, unless s/he is a FULL TIME student, s/he is no longer a participant in the plan. Not even, if she's taking a class here or there--FULL TIME.

Anyway, I remember growing up, Daddy RARELY had a medical complaint. The couple of times he was off for surgery, and especially since he retired, we know every time he has indigestion. I realize as he has aged, he does have more problems, but if he was going to work everyday, had other things to do, we probably would not hear a word of them.

Perhaps, now that she has nothing to do except read, listen to her transistor radio, she focuses on each and every little ache and pain, twitch, etc. Probably goes to infirmary with all kinds of discomforts that, if she were still "free" she might not even acknowledge.

I missed it, but he (Baez) seemed to be mumbling something about "the Anthony family wants" something. If I understand it correctly, it would be the Anthony family attorney who should be presenting this. (Whatever the judge said, it was a rebuke, and Ron Kuby was chuckling.)

Exactly. By having her there it lessons the likelihood that she can get an appeal based on her not being aware of what her attorney was doing, etc.

I like Sheaffer. Quiet, thorough. Explains so even I can understand. He was right on about things, even tho this seemed to be taped last night.

Back to the investigation scene. The only other scene I remember being in an issue (but that may be because any other trials, I missed any defense complaint) was when Mark Geragos complained about the Peterson house--altho he and his "team" made it their head quarters, and had messed it up before he moaned and groaned. Anyway, IN MOST CASES, first, there is a crime scene which is investigated (that was true in the SP case--he was not a poi the first couple of days) and then from that investigation a suspect is found, etc etc etc. By the time the suspect gets an attorney, there is no way the defense can go to a prisitine crime scene, they look @ the evidence, they look @ pics etc etc etc. This case should be no different. First the investigation, then the defense can get their info. One advantage this defense team has, is the cameras and reporters were right there during the investigation (and, in most other crimes, they are not.) They hear all the rumors and what was found or not, etc etc etc. If they were using their brains, they would be taking note of that and asking for things specifically related to even the rumors (because sometimes there is truth in rumor.) Such as, they get some of the info on discovery, they look it over and say, I want information on this or that or the other, cuz they KNOW it was discussed earlier.

I think the only one who has said that the area was searched by TES is the Joy Wray person? @ the time she came forward, it was shown she wasn't even with TES. I remember her 15 minutes of fame on that was VERY short lived.

I don't think Baez wants Casey talking to members of her family right now, so it would have done little good for Cindy to show up at the hearing in an effort to see/talk to her daughter. I doubt Casey would've even looked in her direction if she had. I think the fact that her family CAN attend the public hearings, which are caught on camera, may be one of the primary reasons Baez doesn't want Casey in court. They don't want her to incriminate herself in any way on camera and I think both she and her attorney's know she may if she sees or talks to her family. They must know the questions her family has for her will be entirely different now that Caylee's remains have been found. Even if Casey doesn't answer them, her reaction to anything they say or ask her may be enough to incriminate her somehow. That, IMO, is what they are trying to avoid.

Schaeffer, the legal analyst w/Kathi Belich says they go after everything, knowing they probably aren't going to get anything. He mentions opening oysters--99 times you will just get an oyster, but MAYBE that 100th oyster will provide a pearl.

I'm betting that he does not really expect to get ALL TES records, but, if he ASKS for EVERYTHING, there is room for negotiation, and the compromise might be the search RESULT info. They haven't gotten to the part where, when TES is ordered to or agrees to a certain amount (if that happens) that TES could tell Baez and buds to pay up front (because he might go to all that work, then Baez say, oh, don't need it now:D) or to bring on his workers, copiers, paper and ink and have @ it. Baez knows he will have to foot the bill whether it is court ordered or not. On the Today show one of reporters said that Cindy went and visited George last night and changed her mind about going to the hearing.

I'm not sure Cindy would have wanted to go to the hearing in the first place. I'm not sure she wants to be in the public eye anymore, and she would be, there. AND, I don't think she wants a PUBLIC meeting w/Casey. If she would even be close enough to touch her hand or hug her. I'm betting that, if she had even considered attending the hearing, that knowing that Casey WOULD be there, would have made her change her mind.

Yeah, thanks Amy. I do seem to recall that JB addressed the "unprofessional" rumors in his press conference. So, he's aware of what people are saying about him and Casey. I've just never seen a lawyer touch his client so much. I find it darn suspicious!

Mark Fuhrman, who is now a forensic and crime scene consultant for Fox News Channel, has been following the Caylee case since day one. Fuhrman’s theory is that Caylee died on June 16th, that it was an accident, and that Casey Anthony didn’t know what to do after it happened.

Fuhrman believes that’s what happened the 25th or 26th of June. George Anthony was next to Casey’s car on June 24th, when he found his stolen gas cans in the trunk, but he never mentioned the smell of a dead body. It is believed that Casey ditched the car on the 27th.

“The car,” Furhman says, “Is key. The one hair that shows decomposition is intermingled with a stain that is believed to be bodily fluid in the lower left fender well.”

I don't know how much she complained of this and that on a medical basis before her incarceration. Unless the insurance rules of either her mom's insurance or the laws of FL re:insurance are different, Casey would not be on her mom's insurance @ this point, and hopping to the doc for every little sneeze would not be financially reasonable. Cindy has BC/BS from what I have read. I have BC, and once the dependant is 19, unless s/he is a FULL TIME student, s/he is no longer a participant in the plan. Not even, if she's taking a class here or there--FULL TIME.

Anyway, I remember growing up, Daddy RARELY had a medical complaint. The couple of times he was off for surgery, and especially since he retired, we know every time he has indigestion. I realize as he has aged, he does have more problems, but if he was going to work everyday, had other things to do, we probably would not hear a word of them.

Perhaps, now that she has nothing to do except read, listen to her transistor radio, she focuses on each and every little ache and pain, twitch, etc. Probably goes to infirmary with all kinds of discomforts that, if she were still "free" she might not even acknowledge.

She needs attention and she's going to get it anyway she can - lice or a boil on the butt.

No, she was shackled. The chain was around her waist when she arrived in court and Baez sent her into the bathroom. They hid it under her clothes or something, but made it harder for her to move her hands. Go to WESH TV and watch the video. I caught it right off.

What was decided, I did just see the beginning and KC coming into court. Do you guys think she looked heavier I could not tell.

She looked a little heavier but it looked more like a bloated heavy. You can tell that her diet is doing her in. Bloated, pale and blotched skin, very puffy. We know it's not from guilt so it must be the junk food.

No, she was shackled. The chain was around her waist when she arrived in court and Baez sent her into the bathroom. They hid it under her clothes or something, but made it harder for her to move her hands. Go to WESH TV and watch the video. I caught it right off.

I think when they went back into the hallway, the guards removed the waist and hand shackles. Probably left the ankles on and chained that to the floor. At least that's what I thought Baez was saying when he pointed to the floor.

He also said he was giving her a pad and pen but not to let anyone see what she was writing. Finally he realized the microphone was on and reached over and turned it off while he was talking to her.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- A former Los Angeles Police homicide detective does not believe the woods where Caylee Anthonys’ remains were found are the first place someone left her after she died.



Mark Fuhrman, who is now a forensic and crime scene consultant for Fox News Channel, has been following the Caylee case since day one. Fuhrman’s theory is that Caylee died on June 16th, that it was an accident, and that Casey Anthony didn’t know what to do after it happened.
VIDEO:--Remains may have been somewhere else first “When the body was put in the trunk of her car, the body was decomposed,” he said. “We do know that there is soil that’s in the trunk of the car. That’s important because that means the child either has to be in contact with soil, where moisture that holds soil onto the bag or it was immersed in some kind of soil, taken out and put in the trunk.”

Fuhrman believes that’s what happened the 25th or 26th of June. George Anthony was next to Casey’s car on June 24th, when he found his stolen gas cans in the trunk, but he never mentioned the smell of a dead body. It is believed that Casey ditched the car on the 27th.

“The car,” Furhman says, “Is key. The one hair that shows decomposition is intermingled with a stain that is believed to be bodily fluid in the lower left fender well.”

Furhman said he thinks it’s a very tight forensic case and Casey has done everything she possibly could to put herself in prison. Furhman added that the soil will help trace where the body was, especially if it matches any soil found on Casey’s shoes, which were taken into evidence.

The Orlando Sentienl is reporting that the judge refused the motion for the Eqqusearch records. They are reporting that he said that there just wasn't enough evidence to support that they were employed by the state or that anything would come of the information that the records contain.

I like this judge. He is straight to the point and calls them the way that he sees them. Hopefully soon he will tell the defense to just buck up and get on with it.

Casey Anthony case: Stations scrutinize her attire, body language

Casey Anthony's body language was a major topic for TV stations Friday evening. There was no news on a trial start date for Anthony, who is charged with daughter Caylee's murder.

WESH-Channel 2 said the trial might not begin until year's end. WFTV-Channel 9 said it could take another year.

The stations had studied Anthony's smiles before a hearing began Friday morning. But WFTV's Kathi Belich noted that Anthony "didn't have a lot to smile about." Her defense team had lost motions to gain materials from Texas EquuSearch and to throw prosecutors off the case.

WESH's Amanda Ober said Anthony's attorneys still tried to put a positive spin on the losses, saying they had filed motions to protect the record.

WKMG-Channel 6's J.R. Stone talked to attorney Brad Conway about why Anthony's parents and brother weren't in court. "They were torn," said Conway, who represents George and Cindy Anthony. "The last two weeks, the media attention and the pressure of the last six months and the constant back and forth is just too much."

Conway also discussed the family's feelings for Casey. "They are supporting her and they do love her. That's their daughter, that's their daughter, and they love her, and that's never going to change," the attorney said.

Conway told WKMG that the family is ready for Caylee's funeral. But Stone reported that Jose Baez, Casey's attorney, wouldn't give a date or discuss the funeral, saying it was a private family matter.

Casey Anthony's new look became a recurring point in news reports.

"The big story today was Casey Anthony's appearance and demeanor," said WKMG anchor Laura Diaz.

"Everyone was talking about how Casey Anthony looked and acted today," said WFTV anchor Bob Opsahl.

"She had the look of a somewhat frumpy young mother," WFTV's Belich said.

Baez told reporters that how Anthony looked didn't matter. "That has nothing to do with her guilt or innocence," he said.

So true.

Yet WFTV's legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said experts were working to craft an image for her.

WKMG's Mike DeForest explored contradictions in the defense team's statements. Baez said her wardrobe isn't part of a legal strategy. But Baez's spokesman, Todd Black, had told WKMG that the defense would file an appeal if she's convicted. The reason: She shouldn't have been brought to court wearing handcuffs.

Her appearance was producing more headlines.

"What was in Casey's clothes when Jose Baez delivered them to them to the jail? At 6, we'll reveal the contraband hidden inside," a WFTV announcer said dramatically.

The jail had found a bracelet, with an inscription paying tribute to Caylee, and WKMG had discussed it earlier.

Despite that overheated teaser, WFTV reported that the jail considered the bracelet incident a closed matter. So much for that drama.

WFTV, WKMG and WOFL-Channel 35 talked to Susan Constantine, a body language expert.

"When she's smiling and she's laughing, it's all a joke to her," Constantine told WOFL. "She loves being in front of the camera, she loves all the attention and that's what we're seeing ... the exhibitionist part of her."

But Constantine acknowledged it was odd behavior for someone charged with her child's murder. "There's no grief, there's no remorse, you don't see any of that," Constantine said.

For WKMG, Constantine gave sort of a play-by-play of Casey Anthony's expressions. Constantine spotted anger, contempt, moral superiority, anxiety and fear. Constantine said she believed Anthony's gray jacket, pulled-back hair and lack of makeup were planned.

"Certainly, she's not grieving as far as when it comes to her daughter," Constantine said.

Ultimately, attire and body language seemed the biggest issues for TV Friday.

Good for Strickland. Can't imagine that TES would have a problem providing records of exactly when and where the searches were, but not sure how exposing the personal information of the volunteer searchers would prove to be probative to the case. Looks to me like Jose's time would be better spent deposing witnesses instead of running to court whining over his stolen binkie.

Susan Constantine's comments about today's appearance (sorry if this has been posted already):

...To the untrained eye, Anthony appeared to sit mostly without emotion, but Constantine said she seems depressed.

“Under her eyes she had dark circles, her skin to be very flat. She had a little extra weight on her. Her mouth was turned down. Her lips were turned down. That's sadness,” Constantine said.

Constantine also observed the mother accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter was uneasy during most of the forty minutes in the courtroom.

"There were several times where she was fidgeting with her hands at one point she was rubbing her hands together and what she was doing was showing she was anxious and nervous,” Constantine said. “She would take deep gulps during the hearing today and she looked like she was very nervous and she was concealing it."

Constantine said, in previous court appearances Anthony appeared like she was acting like a movie star, smirking and strutting. She said her demeanor is changing.

“Everything is becoming real to her and its showing on her facial expressions and her demeanor.”...

Baez Tried To Sneak Bracelet To Jailed Casey

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Eyewitness News learned Casey Anthony may have been slipped some contraband in the suit she wore to court for Friday's hearing. Jail officials told Eyewitness News they discovered a "Caylee" bracelet stashed in the clothes Jose Baez dropped off this week.

VIDEO REPORT: Baez Tried To Smuggle Bracelet To Casey

The Orange County jail guards found it inside Casey's clothing, which Jose Baez dropped off right at the visitation center. The jail said, because it's a rubber band and not a weapon, no harm, no foul.

When Casey Anthony walked into court Friday, she was wearing a gray business suit. Attorney Jose Baez dropped it off at the Orange County jail Wednesday. But Eyewitness News has learned Baez also wanted his client to wear a Caylee bracelet, so he put it in one of her socks.

That's considered contraband and jail guards confiscated it.

Jail spokesman Allen Moore said the bracelet had the inscription "Forever in our hearts Caylee Marie Anthony" on it. Moore said, technically, it is contraband but there is no evidence that there was any malicious intent to smuggle in the bracelet.

The jail considers the incident a closed routine matter and Baez will be notified that bracelets are not allowed. Moore said, if the item had been illegal or dangerous, the jail would have called law enforcement to investigate.

It's not the first time Baez has been the center of questionable behavior at the jail. In October, Eyewitness News reported Casey's attorney violated policy when he hugged her twice. Guards told Baez touching his client was not allowed.

The jail would not go on camera about the bracelet incident and Orange County Corrections Department Chief Michael Tidwell is aware of what happened.

A spokesperson said Casey Anthony didn't even see the bracelet.

Zenaida's Attorney Submits Questions For Casey Anthony
Friday, January 30, 2009 – updated: 5:29 pm EST January 30, 2009

ORANGE COUNTY, -- It seems everyone has questions for Casey Anthony, but Zenaida Gonzalez's lawyers will get answers. Eyewitness News obtained a list of questions (read the questions) Casey Anthony will have to answer in a civil suit filed by a woman with the same name as Caylee's so-called nanny.

Zenaida Gonzalez is hoping the list of questions will shed some light on how Casey Anthony came up with the name Zenaida Gonzalez. Zenaida believes Casey saw her name on a registration card at an apartment complex and then used her as an alibi.

Casey Anthony will have to provide a written response to the list of questions, ranging from "State you name" to "Were you involved with the death of Caley (sic)?"

"If there is information that she can share and shed light on who caused the death of this child, and it's not our client, than that certainly clears our client's name," Gonzalez's attorney, Keith Mitnik, told Eyewitness News.

Zenaida Gonzalez is suing Casey Anthony for defamation of character. Casey told authorities Caylee's nanny, Zenaida Gonzalez, kidnapped her daughter.

The Zenaida Gonzalez who is suing Casey is from Osceola County and happened to have her information on file at the apartment complex where Casey said she left the child.

Other questions included in the "Notice Of Service Of Interrogatories" ask Casey to describe the babysitter and how much she paid her and "Do you know anybody who has worked at Sawgrass Apartments or lived there?"

"We're tunneling in to find any connections Casey Anthony, on any connection, to see if she could have gotten our clients name at Sawgrass. We don't know, but that seems to be an area we need to investigate," Mitnik said.

Casey's attorney, Jose Baez, did not want his clients to answer any questions because he's afraid she may say something incriminating, but a judge ruled she had to respond to a written deposition. Gonzalez's attorneys, John Morgan and Keith Mitnik, think she may not answer willingly and a judge may have to get involved.

"If you want out of this lawsuit, answer these questions and help us clear our client's name," Mitnik said.

Casey has 30 days to respond. George and Cindy's depositions in the civil suit are set for February 26 and Lee's deposition is set for February 27.

I wonder if her cell has bars or if it has one of those little windows in the door. My daughter is a graphic designer and went to a prison in our state to do a photo shoot. (One Of those free enterprise detention places) She told me that when she was there with her crew, the guards covered the little windows on the cell doors because they didn't want the inmates to see a female. They go nuts, she was told. So I'm thinking Liar has one of those little windows and no one can see her removing hair from her hoo hoo. I mean, hey, if she had the bars instead, she'd probably do it anyway. We know she's an exhibitionist.

From what I've heard reported on various news shows is that her cell is totally visible to the corrections officers. I also heard there's plexiglass. But the cell is totally exposed, I guess for the high security, she always has to be visible.

Public memorial for Caylee Anthony set

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- The Anthony family announced late Friday that the First Baptist Orlando will host the public memorial service for Caylee Marie Anthony at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in the main Worship Center of their John Young Parkway Campus.

Caylee Anthony was 2 years old when she disappeared last summer. Her remains were found near the Anthony family home in December. Her mother Casey Anthony is being held in the Orange County Jail awaiting trial on first degree murder charges.

The case has captured worldwide attention and many people have waited since December 11th of last year when the remains were found, to learn when a memorial service would be held. The remains of the toddler were first in the possession of the Orange county Medical examiner then the defense team.

Casey Anthony’s parents and the grandparents of Caylee, George and Cindy Anthony had said through a family spokesperson that they had been actively preparing for a public and private memorial service and were only waiting on the remains to be released to them.

“I believe God placed First Baptist Church of Orlando here in Central Florida to make a difference in this community, and to love this community. Casey Anthony case: Stations scrutinize her attire, body language

Casey Anthony's body language was a major topic for TV stations Friday evening. There was no news on a trial start date for Anthony, who is charged with daughter Caylee's murder.

WESH-Channel 2 said the trial might not begin until year's end. WFTV-Channel 9 said it could take another year.

The stations had studied Anthony's smiles before a hearing began Friday morning. But WFTV's Kathi Belich noted that Anthony "didn't have a lot to smile about." Her defense team had lost motions to gain materials from Texas EquuSearch and to throw prosecutors off the case.

WESH's Amanda Ober said Anthony's attorneys still tried to put a positive spin on the losses, saying they had filed motions to protect the record.

WKMG-Channel 6's J.R. Stone talked to attorney Brad Conway about why Anthony's parents and brother weren't in court. "They were torn," said Conway, who represents George and Cindy Anthony. "The last two weeks, the media attention and the pressure of the last six months and the constant back and forth is just too much."

Conway also discussed the family's feelings for Casey. "They are supporting her and they do love her. That's their daughter, that's their daughter, and they love her, and that's never going to change," the attorney said.

Conway told WKMG that the family is ready for Caylee's funeral. But Stone reported that Jose Baez, Casey's attorney, wouldn't give a date or discuss the funeral, saying it was a private family matter.

Casey Anthony's new look became a recurring point in news reports.

"The big story today was Casey Anthony's appearance and demeanor," said WKMG anchor Laura Diaz.

"Everyone was talking about how Casey Anthony looked and acted today," said WFTV anchor Bob Opsahl.

"She had the look of a somewhat frumpy young mother," WFTV's Belich said.

Baez told reporters that how Anthony looked didn't matter. "That has nothing to do with her guilt or innocence," he said.

So true.

Yet WFTV's legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said experts were working to craft an image for her.

WKMG's Mike DeForest explored contradictions in the defense team's statements. Baez said her wardrobe isn't part of a legal strategy. But Baez's spokesman, Todd Black, had told WKMG that the defense would file an appeal if she's convicted. The reason: She shouldn't have been brought to court wearing handcuffs.

Her appearance was producing more headlines.

"What was in Casey's clothes when Jose Baez delivered them to them to the jail? At 6, we'll reveal the contraband hidden inside," a WFTV announcer said dramatically.

The jail had found a bracelet, with an inscription paying tribute to Caylee, and WKMG had discussed it earlier.

Despite that overheated teaser, WFTV reported that the jail considered the bracelet incident a closed matter. So much for that drama.

WFTV, WKMG and WOFL-Channel 35 talked to Susan Constantine, a body language expert.

"When she's smiling and she's laughing, it's all a joke to her," Constantine told WOFL. "She loves being in front of the camera, she loves all the attention and that's what we're seeing ... the exhibitionist part of her."

But Constantine acknowledged it was odd behavior for someone charged with her child's murder. "There's no grief, there's no remorse, you don't see any of that," Constantine said.

For WKMG, Constantine gave sort of a play-by-play of Casey Anthony's expressions. Constantine spotted anger, contempt, moral superiority, anxiety and fear. Constantine said she believed Anthony's gray jacket, pulled-back hair and lack of makeup were planned.

"Certainly, she's not grieving as far as when it comes to her daughter," Constantine said.

Ultimately, attire and body language seemed the biggest issues for TV Friday.

There was a braclet with a tribute to Caylee in with the clothes BAEZ delivered to the jail at 6:00am. Now whose bright idea was that? Talk about staging.:cuss::flamemad:

No, she was shackled. The chain was around her waist when she arrived in court and Baez sent her into the bathroom. They hid it under her clothes or something, but made it harder for her to move her hands. Go to WESH TV and watch the video. I caught it right off.

When she came back out, her hands were free. I saw both of them above the table, and not together. I swear, I did see that.

Watching NG, and boy does she give Cindy a pass on just about everything! But the panel is discussing the fact that Cindy didn't show up in court today; Nancy would swim a river to be there for one of the twins, and George gets a pass. Blah blah blah

What I don't get, is the same thing that I don't get about Casey. You would think that Cindy would want to see justice done for Caylee regardless of who killed her. And you would think that she would want to observe Casey's reactions, and just see her. Of course, you would think that Casey would want to take advantage of her right to face her accusers. And that doesn't seem to matter to her. If this whole circus is about The Other Side of the Story being told, why doesn't Casey want to see it all unfold?

And where was Lee? This family is baffling.

Almost painful to watch Baez stumbling and bumbling in front of the judge. Wouldn't you think that he would practice or something? And did he never try to get into the crime scene after it was released by the prosecution? Why is this just happening now?

Baez Tried To Sneak Bracelet To Jailed Casey

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Eyewitness News learned Casey Anthony may have been slipped some contraband in the suit she wore to court for Friday's hearing. Jail officials told Eyewitness News they discovered a "Caylee" bracelet stashed in the clothes Jose Baez dropped off this week.

The Orange County jail guards found it inside Casey's clothing, which Jose Baez dropped off right at the visitation center. The jail said, because it's a rubber band and not a weapon, no harm, no foul.

When Casey Anthony walked into court Friday, she was wearing a gray business suit. Attorney Jose Baez dropped it off at the Orange County jail Wednesday. But Eyewitness News has learned Baez also wanted his client to wear a Caylee bracelet, so he put it in one of her socks.

That's considered contraband and jail guards confiscated it.

Jail spokesman Allen Moore said the bracelet had the inscription "Forever in our hearts Caylee Marie Anthony" on it. Moore said, technically, it is contraband but there is no evidence that there was any malicious intent to smuggle in the bracelet.

The jail considers the incident a closed routine matter and Baez will be notified that bracelets are not allowed. Moore said, if the item had been illegal or dangerous, the jail would have called law enforcement to investigate.

It's not the first time Baez has been the center of questionable behavior at the jail. In October, Eyewitness News reported Casey's attorney violated policy when he hugged her twice. Guards told Baez touching his client was not allowed.

The jail would not go on camera about the bracelet incident and Orange County Corrections Department Chief Michael Tidwell is aware of what happened.

A spokesperson said Casey Anthony didn't even see the bracelet.
