Okay. Does anyone know how to get in touch with Coldwater or Warhorse? There are God knows how many InSession posters in deep trouble out there. They (and by "they," I include myself) are going through Cold Turkey Withdrawal.

I have been unable to post on Insession since the last "maintenance update" about a month ago. I created a new username, and was able to use that a few times, but then it wouldn't let me post, on my computer or any other that I used.

Here's some news out of the UK from yesterday that may relate to the problem. I don't think it's personal against us chatters. Read the last couple of paragraphs re: NATO and Congress Armed Services Committee.

It seems to be a DNS (domain name server) problem. The hackers are re-routing. ie; when people click on where they want to go, it re-routs to an ad page of the hacker's chosing. The main thing is don't click on anything when it re-routs. The engineers will have it fixed soon.

I agree with curious dave they're after bigger fish than msg board chatters; like govt offices and world financial markets.

There was a thread about hacking on the Holiday Forum that discussed some emails that posters had been receiving. I don't think I received any myself unless I just deleted them along with a bunch of other spam stuff.

I agree there is a certain amount of withdrawal involved at this point.:)

I received an email from CL that my account was locked because someone tried to log in as me but used an incorrect password. That was the day before the IS boards were locked "for maintenance."

I feel a little better at least knowing what the heck is going on. I kept going to IS day after day and wondered why it wasn't back up...then got paranoid and perhaps a little nutty, thinking maybe it was related to someone trying to get into CL as me and that somehow they'd stolen my (cantstandnuts) Identity...crazy, I know, so I decided I'd check here to see if cantstandnuts (me) had been posting, LOL! I can relax somewhat but I really miss IS...it's like morning coffee for me, I have to be able to check it out or I don't feel quite right...so I understand what you're saying completely.

Things are looking up. Today when I went to the IS board and there were two ads on the page. One on the top and one on the bottom. ( Yes, I am even happy to see the ads.)Go to the bottom of that page and you will see what apparently is the biggest part of the problem. IS was still using vBulletin version 2.2.6 when it was hacked. That version was released in May of 2002.

Down at the bottom of this page, Crime Library appears to be using 3.6.4. I haven't heard of any problems with the CL boards. TruTV very recently upgraded from 3.6.8 to 3.7.2 (the latest), as did HFTM (upgraded from 3.7.1). They were apparently both hacked.

Coldwater says the tech is having difficulty upgrading IS because it is so old.

They were hoping to have it up and running Thursday, but that didn't happen. At this point they are not talking about closing the IS boards for good. Just have to hope they can update the security.

On Thursday night, the hacker tried to get into TruTV again...which set the techs' efforts on the IS boards back. But they have kept him out of TruTV.

Coldwater: As of now, no they willl not be closed for good. The only thing that would cause that decision is if they cannot incorporate the new security system into the old IS (ctv) boards. Those boards were never updated all the while they were online (tho asked many times) and now they have to deal with it. They were hoping to have it up Fri. but the hacker tried getting into Tru again which set them back as they had to review that board. As soon as I hear I'll let you know.

I don't know what it all takes to run a message board and how to clean up after a cracker hacker so.... I can only assume that it takes more than putting in one of those little cd things to clean up an average computer.

I don't understand why they wouldn't put the boards back. If they don't would it be because of cost?

This whole hacker/cracker/quacker thing seems so ethereal that I'd doubt that the First Amendment would come into play very much at least as far as ratting out those who hack forums is concerned.

My strong suspicion is that our friends, the lawyers and the judges, currently have bigger fish to fry and that those fish have deeper pockets. :)

Gosh, I haven't read or posted since the change! The little bit of time I spend reading on a religion forum has been over on HFTM. I use to really like posting on the subject but grew tired of some folks constantly telling me what I believed (like they would know lol! :rolleyes: ). Also, a good number of posters were banned or left. A few just liked to go over the same topics over, and over again. . . will the earth parish? Why Jesus can't be God, etc. I was suffering from a serious case of broken record syndrome. :D

All their webmasters needs to do is to create a new board and transfer all the data from the previous IS to the new one and patch the securities of the new one. If you guys remember, they also transfer the data of CTV to crimelibrary. Heck i didnt even register here and my name and pass at both boards are same. But the problem they have to deal with now is the reliability of Data in the old IS. Hackers were able to access those data now. Eventhough IS will create a new board and transfer their back-up data to the new server then it will still be the same thing - Hackers goes for the data and not for the structure of the site. The structure can always be created but the Data's are more important. IS/CTV's been there for many years - uploading those data back from many years , isnt gonna do any good. They will have to recreate the new IS and have the members re-register again ,if they decided to move on with it , or if they decided to open it up - use again the same Data then i will advise to all of you to change your passwords when it is backup.

On the same day that InSessions re-opened, my account on TruTV was hacked into and my nic was used by the hacker to post garbage. I notified the TruTV moderator. My nic was deleted, and I was afforded no explanation on how this happened. Then back at InSessions a few days ago, someone hacked into my account again (the same nic as I had at TruTV), and I insisted the moderator take action. When no action to protect our accounts was taken, I posted about it. No surprise here... I was banned, and the hacker..remains free to continue breaking into the accounts of posters for whom he seeks revenge. I guess its easier to get rid of me than it is to get rid of the hacker, nevermind the fact that our accounts have been compromised.
