that the number of people viewing the individual forums doesn't add up to the number of people accounted for (at the bottom of the page)? For instance, now there are 217 viewing the board, but a total of only 127 viewing the forums. Does that somehow include people at the CTV board? I tried to add those, but it doesn't compute either.
This is driving my obsessive compulsive self crazy.

Hi Loretta. Hope you're having a wonderful Sunday. I've read your questions and have wondered the same myself from time to time. Does that mean that I too am a "bit" OC? Nah! LOL
Anywho, could it be that some of the people who are logged on have chosen invisible mode, such as EveWater has? I chose that a long time ago so I wouldn't be "pestered" by certain posters and I've never bothered to change it.

I wondered about all that in the beginning but it hurt my head trying to figure it out. LOL

Hey Evening! It's beautiful here in BFE. I'm finishing the latest Cat Who book and did a little yard work after church.
If you'll notice the total count includes how many are members and how many are guests; they always add up to the correct total. I'm not sure how it is determined who is a member and who is a guest. For instance, right now there are twelve members on board, but only six of them are visible. Does that mean that the board can identify IP addresses (even though we've been told otherwise?) Anyway, I guess the biggest part of my question is: what/where are the people who are missing from the total count viewing?
Hey Sara!

Maybe they're veiwing something else...like their user CP, or reading/sending a PM...or looking at the member list...things they could be doing besides viewing a particular thread...Just a guess...:)

Hey Sara! The members you can't see probably have marked themselves as invisible. You can check that option in your user profile.

That makes sense! I have always noticed a large disparity in the numbers and I guess it never occurred to me that such a large percentage would be in the CP or whatever.

Yes, I reckon the ones that aren't visible are very likely invisible.

I think the disparity will be accounted for by invisibility.

I hate to admit it, but this is breaking my mind. Can guests sign in as visible or invisible?? Thought that option only applied to members at log in.
