GENNARO FATO - HOMICIDE VICTIM
Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at approximately 9:57 p.m., Montgomery County Police 4th District officers responded to the 3600 block of Martin's Dairy Circle in Olney for a possible burglary in progress. Upon arrival they found Gennaro James Fato, 74 years old, deceased in the area of the home's garage. The premliminary investigation revealed that just prior to the assault, Gennaro Fato had picked up his wife from the T.J. Maxx store in Olney. He and his wife had just arrived home when he was confronted and shot by unknown suspects. His wife escaped unharmed and called 911 reporting the incident.
The individual(s) responsible for the homicide remain at-large. Detectives continue to remain open to either of two possibilities: that this was a random act, or that Mr. Fato was targeted for a particular reason. The circumstances and motive in this case remain under very active investigation.

$25,000 REWARD
The family of Gennaro Fato is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to Montgomery County Police detectives that leads to an arrest and/or indictment of the person(s) responsible for this felony murder. Reward offered for 180 days starting from 2/1/2008.
