I'm interested in hearing from anyone that’s seen or read Hannibal Rising,
What people think, personally I think Gaspard Ulliel (playing Hannibal) did a fantastic job, seeing the shoes he needed to fill by following Hopkins, the movie didn't quite catch the class of Hannibal 100% but the characters intelligence came across quite well.. Any thoughts??

Didn't read the book! Saw the movie twice, because I didn't understand a lot that was going on the first time I saw it.
If it had come out before Silence of the Lamb, it might have warranted our interest in wanting more of the story of this man! And MAYBE been considered a pretty good flick.
Unfortunately, it came out after SOL which was excellent and not comparable! JMO

The movie was dreadfully slow-paced, imho, but it did give some interesting background about Hannibal. The book, imho, was much better than the movie.

I've just finished my Hannibal Rising copy and it's delicious, the only complain I have is that it doesn't have any more pages to read on about the fascinating rising of Hannibal Lecter.
I recommend reading the 4 books, Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal and Hannibal Rising. Thomas Harris writes with such an owe about his characters!
In Hannibal rising, so well mannered even when killing, Hannibal emerges before our eyes just as he is, this marvelous, courteous monster, even from the childhood. His foes, so mean and rude just begging to be punished. It's really a pleasure to turn every page.
Don't miss it!

I will have to read the book and then comment. I hated the movie! Hollywood takes too much poetic license!

Hey 3ratones
Thanks for your reply. I was talking about the comparison between the Movie and the book with a friend and they thought that the Passion Hannibal has for lady Murasaki didn't come across in the Movie as well as the book, what are your thoughts??
i enjoyed the film, gave us some history of "why"
thought the chap playing the lead wasnt strong enough for the role but cant think of anybody else that they could have used, still very good film,
i would give it 7/10.

Hey 3ratones!!
YAY another fan, question for you did you notice in Hannibal Rising Thomas Harris didn't mention Hannibal's polydactyly (six fingers on one hand) I thought it was odd, not that it had any bearing on the book, but it's mentioned in all the other books, any thoughts???
