Top prosecutor in Scott Peterson trial dies at 66
MODESTO, Calif.—Jim Brazelton, former district attorney of Stanislaus County who led the prosecution team against convicted double-murderer Scott Peterson, has died. He was 66.
Brazelton died Monday afternoon at Memorial Medical Center, where he was hospitalized for the past few days, said Assistant District Attorney Carol Shipley, who did not know the cause of his death.
Brazelton retired from his post in July 2005, after trying 35 murder cases and sending five men to death row, including Peterson, who was found guilty in 2004 of murdering his wife, Laci, and her fetus.

I wonder how many involved in the case will die before the murderer?

Please, I don't mean any disrespect to anyone. Whatever he fought for or beieved in his life, let's let him rest in peace.
The news of someone's death is never funny. Whatever they did in this life, there are people who love and care for them who deserve their right to grieve in private.

I'm not taking sides - I'd say the same about defense counsel, if they happened to be a victim of fate, which I hope they won't.
I've never wished ill on anyone, and I don't plan to start now.

OK, point taken.
I guess I just hate to hear of the death of anyone. It's a life, and there are people who suffer for that loss. That's all. I just don't think it's 'funny', because there are people out there, whoever they may be, who have nothing to do with any crime, or any prosecution of a crime, but who are family and friends who might feel that loss personally and deeply. .
Whether it's Scott Peterson, the Pope, a beggar or a billionaire, someone loved them and grieve for their loss. There'd be nothing funny about it to them, IMO.
That's all I meant. I certainly didn't mean you wished ill to anyone. Just don't appreciate the humour about anyone's death, whoever they may be. It's probably just a quirk of mine, so don't give it any thought. :seeya:

Okay, you've made your point. I agree you should lighten up a little. The remark was funny and it disrespected no one (except maybe the holder of the "secret evidence".

I agree, the point was made TWICE now, the poster SHOULD "lighten up", the comment was funny and it "disrespected no one" not even the "holder of the secret evidence" IMO. Scott surely will be in trouble if the holder of that "secret evidence" passes. And I was told I didn't have a sense of humor and "read things into" comments??

Hi Invrdv8,
I't pretty obvious that you're referring to me. I was making a joke about MY DOGS. I said they could 'lick you to death', meaning that they are so affectionate that they could only love and befriend anyone (unfortunately!!). One can fit in you arm, the other needs a tiny bit more room. It's not my problem that you didn't get it . I tried to explain it, but there's nothing like closing your ears and mind to anything you don't want to hear or dispute.
I intend to continue posting on this board, but I've had enough of having to apologise for comments which you object to. I said something that i think should have been better worded. I apologised to you TWICE in private messages and once in public, since you requested it.
I do not owe you any more apologies whatsoever. Grow up.
This is a discussion board, not kindergarten. If you can't take it, please don't blame it on everyone else. Ordinarly, I wouldn't broadcast this on the board. But since my PM's made no inpression and you insisted on a public apology WHICH I MADE DAYS AGO, I've had enough of your barbs and snide comments.
If you have something useful to say, say it. If you're here to merely shoot sarcasm, feel free to do so. Just try to remember that not everyone thinks the way you do, and some people are more sensitive to some things than others. But you don't have to - just go on blustering in your merry way.
I'm sorry if I can't fit into the pattern of "lightening up" about someone's death. I guess I have a "thing" about it. I call it humanity, but I'm sure there's a much better term for it, and much more realistic. I'm just a another pathetic sentimentalist, so what do I know?
I just think that joking about someone's death is anything but funny. Whoever they may be. In some cases it's a relief, in some cases it's tragic accidents, in some cases it's suicide, or stupidity, or murder, or just inevitable "fate".
However it comes about, it's never funny.
I wasn't attacking the poster, just responding to the comment they made. I didn't think it was funny or appropriate. That's all.

By the way, my first double post on this thread was made by mistake. I just pressed the enter key twice, once halfway though my post and then again after typing it again I didn't realise I had pressed the return key the first time, when I was typing my post. I don't suppose that ever happened to anyone ever before. Anyway, I apologise for the confusion.
This is the very last time I will ever apologise to invrdv8 - this is just about all I seem to do these days on this board, even though I've done nothing which requiered one apology, let alone 3. 2 PMs, one on the board. I can't imagine that anyone except the poster is interested in this, but they had to see it because this poster insisted on it.
I had nothing to apologise for, except for making a comment that was misworded, but also very much misunderstood from the other party.
I've apologised for that in response to indignant posts and snide remarks and PMs from the poster concerned, TWICE in PMs AND ONCE IN THE PUBLIC FORUM. My ONE comment was on one of the poster's POST, NOT on the poster.
This constant bickering is childish and just vituperative for the sake of it, now. It's done it's dash. It's like beating a dead horse. I'm over it. I hope the he Mods put an end to this. It's ridiculous.

I can't help wondering why these comments were necessary since I was responding to comments made by deputydi. I was under the impression that this little "personality conflict" was resolved by the mutual agreement to discontinue responding to each others comments. Obviously I was mistaken.
Why is it I'm being chastised for not agreeing with certain comments yet you have no qualms about voicing your disagreement with comments made here? I've also noticed that when someone corrects some of your statements your "pat response" is "that's what I meant".
As for your comment about your "MEAN dogs and cats" sorry but your explanation of that comment doesn't fly. We weren't discussing pets, we weren't discussing cats and dogs. I believed then, as I do now, that your comment was meant as an insult. Your "explanation" is another example of you making a comment and when called on it you try to put a different "spin" on it. Even here you continue to sneak in your little insulting remarks.
NOTHING about any of the comments made were disrespectful or demeaning to any one. You read something into them that just wasn't there. It was suggested by other posters that you needed to "lighten up" yet you continued with your rant. Even now you are still explaining your position. We got it the first time!!!
As for the apology. It was obvious you realized you spoke out of turn so you PM'd an apology. I felt your insulting comments were there for all to see so it was only right that your apology also be out there for all to see. No one offers an apology unless they themselves feel one is called for.
Please abide by our agreement and just ignore my posts. TIA :seeya:

FTR, no one said anything about the "double post". When I emphasized TWICE it was because in every response you stated your opinion. Which now, totals THREE times.
I didn't ASK for an apology. You apologized on your own. When I called you on your original response another poster responded by saying he/she believed you MISUNDERSTOOD my comments. So it wasn't that you misworded anything. You criticized my comments very strongly and ended your response by criticizing my LOGIC. I've noticed that you are sometimes very sarcastic in your responses to other posters, but I wasn't going to stand by and let you do it to me. Maybe you should take the time to read your comments over BEFORE you submit them.
You seem to be obsessed with the apology thing. I've explained why I thought it should be on the public forum. No one twisted your arm. No one held a gun to your head.
Your right, the constant bickering is very childish but only vituperative on your part. Enough is enough. Post all you want but, again, please ignore my posts/responses as agreed. Again, TIA and :seeya:
