The quality is very poor on the sound. I don't think anyone is wearing makeup and it shows. It's like watching home videos. But as far as I can tell nothing new.

Didn't Greta go over that? Poor sound because Aruba just wouldn't let their cameras in without filling out the forms and someone even said a naughty word to one of those hefty donut eating guys that accompanied her and the star of the show. Poor Greta....geez they always let the cameras into Aruba in the past....we must have gone 7,000 times....and golly look at all the money the press left in Aruba while we were following Ms. Beth around. Grumble grumble....like the law in Aruba applies to FOX! FOX!!! ME GRETA!!!

Yes, it was mentioned but the shooting locations were awful. Wind, car noise, etc. The sound is pretty good in the police station. Greta chose to interview Beth about her faith on a balcony with the wind howling.

After an hour, I really didn't get a good idea what the book was about. But then we have terrysdoor.:hat:

I actually bought the book today. My heart goes out to Natalee's family and friends of the family more so now after reading the book than ever. I read like a mad woman today...very interesting, very emotional, and no family should ever have to endure what they dealt with on that island.

Speaking of jacobs...ugh, and this just disgusts me. Jacob first meets beth at the holiday inn, and then asks her to go to the police station in about an hour to give her official statement. Jacobs is sitting behind his desk in a swivel chair...Beth says we're ready to give our statement...Jacob pushes one hand and then the other down across his belly which is extended by his rearing back and says I'll have to eat my frosted flakes first and runs a hand across his jaw and adds, and get a shave before I can deal with you...

It's definitely a page turner. Someone, who knows had this family running all over the island. Tips would start coming in around midnight every night, until J2k were arrested...then no more nightly tips of Natalee being spotted from one end of the island to the other. Odd, I tell ya..

Jug has supported me through this entire nightmare. And we have done everything we can. But how could anyone who knows our saga possibly be surprised when we divorce. We aren't the same anymore. However, Natalee can't take all the blame for the failure of this marriage. We had problems before, but we can't overcome this one.

Here is another juicy tidbit, before I go to bed. Vinda tells Beth and Jug there is no crematorium on the island, but island residents told them there was...Remember the man found in the cemetary. He supposedly worked at the incinerator at the oil refinery and part time at the hospital incinerator. He was beheaded by what locals call a columbian necktie.

Thank you for your refreshing take on the book, Suki. It's obvious by the context of the book that Beth is referring to the tragedy of Natalee's disappearance not being the entire blame for her divorce. She's obviously saying she and Jug had problems before Natalee was taken and possibly killed.

Anybody with a lick of knowledge or life experience knows that these kind of tragic events are debilitating to any marriage. They rarely survive this kind of horror. Any other debasing explanation is just an obvious baiting attempt to twist a tragedy into something that belongs in the gutter. Sad how far people will go to feed a hate-filled obsession.

What a lie-filled, violent little Island the beautiful Aruba turned out to be. Vinda was yet another Island Spin-meister. Blatant lie about the incinerator. Next thing you know, they'll be telling us there are actual tourists on the beaches! :rolleyes:

Do you really, really, think that was simply a little slip of the pen, and she MEANT to say "We underwent a lot of stress looking for Natalee and our marriage could not sustain it". Something like that.

So, do you think it just "slipped out" that she blamed Natalee for ANY part of the failure of this marriage, much less "can't take ALL the blame"?

I was completely blown away with how terrible Beth looked on the Greta show. I wonder if Greta did that to her on purpose, Greta knew the tapes were bad from minute one. In contrast, Greta looked groomed, and cool as a cucumber. Actually she looked quite nice in the studio too, with that brown outfit. Why didn't she preview the tapes with Twitty to show her the disaster unfolding, and let Beth decide whether or not to actually go through with it?

I don't understand why a grown woman, who was really quite pretty, would purposely do that to her face. Speaking of Beth here. Her entire upper lip does not move anymore, at least in my opinion. Also, why was she wearing those big sunglasses, even indoors?

I do understand after reading the book why it was soooooo important to send soldiers out on the internet to start rumors and discredit Beth very early in this case. It is so blatantly clear that Aruba knew if word ever got out what they put this family through, they would suffer for years.

God help all the hardworking honest Arubans, because if this book gets read, Aruba will never more be considered the happy safe island. You can enter at your own risk as you would any other corrupt country.

Yesss, I think it will be interesting to see what's in the future for the Van Der Sloots. Right now everything coming out of Aruba in my opinion, is to neutralize the damage, therefore they have to appear to be supporting the family. In a meeting with Karin Janssen after the Kalpoes are released early part of July, there was a meeting with Karin Jannsen, Jug, Jar & Beth. Jar asks her if she has a working theory. She says yes, it was sex gone wrong. He asks her who she believes is involved. She says Definitely Joran and at least one of the Kalpoe brothers. There is no video footage of Paulus running into bushes, there is no footage of him sweating while in the bushes, as you stated. But you can link to those 2 items if you like to prove it.

He came around the corner of his house and stopped in back of the bushes to see what the commotion was. Then, after cordially inviting the girls that just want to have fun into his house, Greta repays him on her tabloid show by saying that he invited them into his home to get away from cameras.

I'd run from Beth now, do you think it was a coincidence that the technician filmed her from a profile view while on the balcony of the hotel? Looks like even he was blown away by the movement of those lips. That was cruel of Greta to let that footage appear on TV. But she has her reasons. Funny, her ratings IIRC were less on Wednesday (when Beth appeared) than on Tuesday!!!

Did you read the book, Heyes ?? You find it funny, when on the cover of the book it says "The TRUTH of the kidnapping in Aruba" will be revealed. When I looked at the cover of the book .... I took it that something FACTUAL would be revealed about the alleged "kidnapping". I know what's been posted on messageboards for the past 2 1/2 years. I'm not questioning who the primary suspects are .... I know who they are.

It's interesting reading comments about the book from people who haven't followed the case closely. They know Natalee was kidnapped, the date rape drug is available at every bar in Aruba and and Joran raped Natalee. I think saying it and putting it on a book makes it believeable to many.

It is extremely sad to find out that an American Tourist has either been lost, abducted or possibly worse here on Aruba on Sunday evening / Monday morning. The 18 year old girl named Natalee was seen leaving Carlos and Charlies at 1:30am with 3 young men driving A car. She was here on a group trip with 180 other students from her school.

How is it possible that we all know what tourist was at at Amazonia this week and somehow raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for Tsunami Victims in 48 hours and we don't know that this young lady is missing. How can we help this American Couple find their precious daughter, who happens to be a straight A student and in the honor society of her school in Alabama.

If Aruba Today had not received an e-mail from a concerned American who happened to hear about it and contact me, Aruba Today would have never been in the loop. Every moment that passes, increases the odds of not finding this beautiful gift to the world. I personally went to every frequently visited spot on Aruba tonight; gas stations, fast food, resorts, restaurants and found that NOBODY knew of her disappearance. When we all should be looking for her!!!!

We are such a small community with such a loud voice. Please put into place the Amber Alert and find Natalee today. Her mother called me tonight and her message is clear "Just give me back my baby girl, it doesn't matter what has happened, we need her back." They have no bad intentions for Aruba and are able to forgive and forget everything that might or might not have happened -- no matter how critical it might be.

Please give Natalee back to her mom and dad who flew into the island to take their daughter back home.

We have the ability to find her, so lets do it!

More than a few will read it and it may save some lives as Beth says she wants. Along with Dave's book, a dim picture unchallenged of the island nation of Aruba will be presented.

If I may please elaborate. The Kalpoe's US lawyers had to provide the documentation that was available to them for the defendants. That doesn't mean that the US lawyers could or had to provide all documentation and evidence regarding the ongoing investigation in Aruba. The US courts thankfully still have no rights to demand evidence or documentation from an ongoing investigation from another country. Not without military invasion that is.

Heck, that would be easy wouldn't it? Aruba is so much smaller and so much closer than Iraq. Besides, from what I've read on the boards here, life is like living in a third world country on Aruba. Must really suck for those poor US tourists who continue to insist on going there.

I'm actually wondering if there is any corroboration for this "truthfulness" being penned by Beth?? I suppose it's easy for you to accept it as the TRUTH though. From what I understand, from others who have read it, the TRUTH of the kidnapping in Aruba, is not revealed at all in the book. You know, what it says on the front cover ?? I was thinking I would be able to open the book, and there would be some great revelation as to what happened to Natalee. Instead, again from what I've heard from others ((because I haven't read it)) .... it just contains what we essentially know already .... perhaps elaborated.

I didn't read it all, but I did notice ONE review ((which I thought was a pretty fair one)), which pointed out something which I've wondered about. This person actually recommends the book, unless someone things I'm "cherry-picking" unfavorable reviews.

I actually thought, when I first heard/saw the title of this book, that some TRUTH was going to be revealed about what happened to Natalee. I think the title of the book is misleading. This person, when reviewing the book, pointed out what concerns me.

You know, it's interesting, Choco. One gets the impression that some may feel, if you DON'T choose to read this book, you can have no insight as to this case. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Now .... if one wants to "critique" the book, then admittedly one has to read it. "Discussing" what's IN it though is another matter. Anyone who is even peripherally familiar with this case can discuss it.
