Jessica Lunsford killer sentenced to die

INVERNESS, Fla. - A convicted sex offender was sentenced Friday to death for kidnapping 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford, raping her and then burying her alive in his yard.

John Evander Couey looked straight ahead as Circuit Judge Ric Howard told him he should be executed for the 2005 crimes that led to new laws in many states cracking down on convicted sex offenders.

Sheriff's deputies hustled the handcuffed inmate out of the crowded courtroom.

The girl's father, Mark Lunsford, teared up as he listened to the judge read a detailed history of the case for nearly an hour. He hugged relatives after the sentence was read.

The jury that convicted Couey in March recommended 10-2 that he die for his crimes, but the decision was left to Howard.

I think that if Florida wants to kill Couey than they should also want to kill Casey Anthony .....for some reason they have two different systems for death . Makes no sense. imo

Is this the hockey player from the Red Maple hockey team in Canada? I think there are a lot of differences in both cases. I also think the DP was dropped for Casey on a plea agreement and now it may be brought back into the picture with evidence provided. In the end Toskala male or female justice will be served. I do not know what bone you have to pick but I am over the case and glad the perp is in jail on trial......IMO sara

That Mark should be the one to meter out the justice to this POS! I truly would buy the beer, the pig and the mops!! He and about 30 of his bros should be let loose in the same cell and do what they will. Listen to him beg for his life like little Jessie probably did. Let me him scream in terror, let him feel the pain, no needle is going to be a punishment enough for this scumbag and meanwhile, he sits on the taxpayer's nickle for at least 12 years. I am hoping they bring back Old Sparky just for him and let him scream all the way to hell and when he gets there,. he burns for eternity. We are too humane in this country. In some countries they are burned at the stake for less than the rape and murder of a child, they are castrated for less, they are whipped for less, women in the Middle East get stoned to death for not not wanting to marry the man her daddy traded her to for the price of a camel, and us, the most powerful nation simply puts a needle in their arm because it makes bleeding hearts feel more righteous. At least when they were electrocuted or gassed, they were alive long enough to suffer and it was true justice, an eye for an eye.:flamemad:
