View Full Version : How Scott's Sister Knew He Did It

She lists a goodly number of reasons in her book Blood Brother.

Some interesting ones among them:

Flirting with our babysitter . Made 'flirtinis.' Babysitter became uncomfortable and left.

Jackie and Lee telling me that if asked about babysitter incident, I should just deny it or 'not recall' it, suggesting to me that they didn't want anyone opening that can of worms. Later Jackie told the babysitter she 'd like to see Scott with someone like her, 'so pretty.' Laci is still missing.

Scott often arrived in different cars.

Scott borrowing the shovel up at Lake Arrowhead. Is it possible he buried something?

Appeared uninterested in search for Laci except he got loud and emotional when they searched in the Bay.

She remains convinced he drowned her in the pool and then slipped her into the truck, covered her with a tarp and waited till morning to drive her to the Berkeley Marina. An easy method. Definitey premeditated.

Hey Mysteri - I literally dug this book out of the attic last night. I got to where they're away and ISP got Laci the wheelchair as "a joke" (her words). Her little boy vanishes, and ISP is in the wheelchair doing wheelies while on the cell, oblivious to everyone running around in a panic looking for Anne's youngest. He didn't even notice!

Like when he was oblivious of the pain and sorrow at the Candlelight Vigil.
How scary the DisneyLand incident was ! A man who can't be bothered a small child has gone missing and a dangerous balcony nearby !

Thanks for the details, TopGunner !!

She answered all their questions.
She wanted so very much for her brother to be innocent but his actions were so bizarre, she couldn't continue to overlook them. As time went on, he gave more reasons to doubt his veracity. She seems to think he may have killed one or two other girls as well, from things her Cousins ( members of Scott's family ) told her.

Quite a few posters thought so as well, during the trial.

Anne also mentions that there were family members (cousins) that believed DRISP was guilty, plus Anne's other brother Don, that Jackie gave away said "how well do you know this guy?" Both Don and Anne's husband Tim belived DRISP was guilty long before she was able to accept it.

She deserves credit for opening her eyes, something Scott's parents refuse to do.

She deserves credit for opening her eyes, something Scott's parents refuse to do.I admire Anne, she has a lot of character. It must have been such a difficult decision for her to believe Scott killed Laci and Conner. We never want to believe someone in our own family could possibly be so cold, so dangerous, so calculating. Unlike Anne, I doubt Ma ands Pa Peterson will ever acknowledge the fact ISP is guilty.

And JP tried very hard to get Anne to testify for him at the penalty phase:

"'You knew him so well. You two were so close. You can tell them all sorts of wonderful things about him."

I could have said some wonderful things about him, yes, but they would have been lies. That Scott was gone. Maybe he had never existed. The things I could tell them now would only hurt him.

'I can't do it Jackie. I'm sorry.'"

"Blood Brother" ~ Anne Bird, page 195

There's a lot more to this conversation. But AB no longer thought he was so wonderful. On page 188, Anne questions the lies to AF and JP "snaps" ... "Well, he's been all those places!". It goes on and on and on. And this from a woman who was so thankful, as an adoptee, to find her blood relatives. She and her family show nothing but kindness and love to SP. But of course his advocates will say the book is a lie, she wanted to make money.

How sad is that? Facts are indeed hard to face when you want them to go to your POV and no matter what, they don't, they won't, and they never will.

With all that mopping that went on my theory was that Laci was drawing a bath and scott snuck up behind her. It explains the whole mop thing to me. However it doesn't explain the obsessive vacuming.

Hey Paula

wonder why she never told LE any of this

Maybe she did. It is my understanding she did speak to LE/Pros when she thought she might have to testify. GA, herself, had mentioned this, and that AB was prepared to testify, if called.

I think AB was reared in a very loving protective environment, and could not imagine the stark differences between the Peterson family and her adoptive family. AB didn't want to believe her "blood brother" was capable of such a demonic act. When there were too many questions, posed by her husband, and too many abnormal behaviors she witnessed herself re Scott, her day of enlightenment had finally arrived, and AB knew she could no longer deny the truthful reality of what Scott had done, as horrible as it was.

Anne said that Jackie changed her story of how Scott got all that ca$h so many times, she couldn't keep up.

Jackie also called Anne when she thought Anne would be testifying and said to her that if anyone asked her about the babysitter and the flirtini's, just deny it. Lee then piped in and said "just say you don't recall!"

Now, why lie?

Now, why lie?

As Scott's supporters have pointed out on several occasions, Scott and his family get to determine what questions should be answered with the truth. If the police are asking questions about things Scott and his family don't think they should be asking about Scott is justified in lying, and such lies don't count as lies. The police should be searching for Laci, not bothering Scott. He's got things to do.

COG, reminds me of Lady Macbeth

"Out, damned spot! Out, I say! " (Act 5, Scene 1)

This line could be entered into the SP Lexicon in two ways:

"A little water clears us of this deed ." (Act 2, Scene 2)

A Sister's Story
A conversation with Anne Bird, Scott Peterson's half-sister
March 7, 2005

Court TV Host: Our guest, Anne Bird, Scott Peterson's half-sister, is here. She's just written a book, Blood Brother: 33 Reasons My Brother Scott Peterson is Guilty. She was just on Catherine Crier Live, and she's here with us now. Thank you for being our guest online.

Anne Bird: Hello.

Question from Elizabeth: What has Scott said in some of his letters to you, and did you ever tell him you were writing this book?

Anne Bird: There were about 30 letters from Scott. A lot were about jail conditions. And, no, I did not tell him I was writing this book.

Question from Marianne: Anne, it's been reported Scott was carrying your credit card - you didn't mention this in your book - why did he have your credit card?

Anne Bird: It had already been reported that the credit card was mine. That wasn't one of my 33 reasons why I thought he was guilty.

Question from fmarshall: Hello, Anne, have you spoken to Scott since the book?

Anne Bird: No. He's written letters, but I have not corresponded back since the book.

Question from cheryl: Anne -- do you plan to visit Scott in jail?

Anne Bird: I don't know. Perhaps in prison, someday, if he could be truthful about all this.

Question from Lutabell: Anne, did Scott's other brothers and sister resent the special adulation his parents seemed to give him?

Anne Bird: No, they didn't resent Scott.

Question from Harriet: Anne, Why were you not called to the stand?

Anne Bird: The defense case imploded, so the prosecution decided not to recall any rebuttal witnesses.

Question from jj: Anne, what is the #1 reason you think Scott Peterson killed Laci?

Anne Bird: To protect his golden boy image.

Question from bostongal: Anne, any idea why Lee Peterson was not in court for the verdict?

Anne Bird: Yes, he was in San Diego, I'm not sure, but I think it was a holiday weekend, or just before a holiday weekend, so I think that's why he didn't attend.

Question from sidebar: Did scott ever talk about how he felt when Laci was found in the bay?

Anne Bird: No, he never talked about how he felt.

Question from cheryl: Anne -- how is your relationship with Jackie now?

Anne Bird: Uncertain.

Question from Riter: Hi Anne -- I'm about half-way through your book -- it's great. When did you decide to write it?

Anne Bird: January of 2005, because the gag order was lifted, and I was finally able to say something. Thank you.

Question from AZMimi: Hi Anne. Enjoyed your book. Do you and your half brother Don still have a relationship?

Question from padelynn: Read your book. What is your relationship with Don now?

Anne Bird: Don and I are still talking, and we still have a very good relationship. And I love him very much.

Question from Sunflower: Anne: at what point did you first suspect Scott may have killed Laci?

Anne Bird: When the body came to the surface. That was a key turning point.

Question from tami: Hi Anne, how does Don feel about your book and does he think Scott is guilty?

Anne Bird: I can't comment to what Don thinks. And I'm sorry I can't answer that question much more.

Question from JERRY: Hi Anne: Thanks for chatting with us. Could you tell us if you sensed any problems between Laci and Scott the last time you were with both of them?

Anne Bird: I watched them like a hawk, and I didn't see anything out of the ordinary or unusual, and I was definitely looking. Thank you.

Question from Liz: Anne, How are your children holding up through all of this?

Anne Bird: My children are with my parents. Some day I'll have to explain to them what happened, and that was another reason for writing this book. My parents are just watching them for right now while I'm on the book tour.

Question from MrsOliver2: Was he abusive to Laci?

Anne Bird: I don't know the answer to that question. I didn't see anything or hear anything about that.

Question from rogue_angel: Hi Anne! Thank you for your courage. What is your response to the people who claim you are doing this all for money?

Anne Bird: I am planning to make a personal donation. This was a book written to help myself get through this. I wrote this book also for Laci and Conner so the truth would be known from my point of view, and this was my story, my piece of the puzzle, which I couldn't tell until now.

Question from tequilla: Have you heard from Laci's family since the book came out? By the way it is an awesome book!!

Anne Bird: Thank you very much, and no, I haven't, I hope to someday.

Question from susanrulz: Did you mortgage your house for Scott's defense, like many of his other siblings did?

Anne Bird: No, I did not.

Question from JenniferNY: Anne, do you think that Jackie believes Scott had something to do with Laci's murder and she is just covering for him, or is she in total denial?

Anne Bird: I don't know if I can answer that one -- I'm sorry that I can't comment on their thoughts.

Question from CoCo: Why didn't you tell the police your concern about the pool? Maybe they could have found evidence!

Anne Bird: I told the police everything I thought was important, and they had an opportunity to question me, and I can't go into details about it.

Question from weezer: Did you know Scott in his younger years? Any signs of sociopathy then?

Anne Bird: I did not know Scott in his younger years, so I can't comment on how he was then.

Question from fmarshall: Will you be at his sentencing phase?

Anne Bird: I don't know yet.

Question from Lexi: Do you think Scott will ever confess?

Anne Bird: I have no idea.

Question from sidebar: You mentioned Scott thinks he will get out on appeals. Does his family still believe this too?

Anne Bird: I don't know what his family thinks. I think they probably hope he will.

Question from Spenderella: Anne, Is it your impression that Scott was preparing to flee to Mexico?

Anne Bird: Yes. That's what I think.

Question from maresid: Why did he need your credit card?

Anne Bird: For a hotel room, after I was uncomfortable with him being in our house.

Question from Harriet: Anne, Why do you need a lawyer?

Anne Bird: I needed someone who could handle this very delicately, who was media savvy, and Gloria knew already about the case, and she's the best.

Court TV Host: Any final thoughts?

Anne Bird: People who read the book will understand why I came to the conclusion that I did -- and it was very difficult. Thank you for all your questions, I really appreciate it.

Very generous of you to share Ann's words with us, USAHICK !!

I'm happy to hear that at least ONE thing came right for her in all this travesty; she and her brother Don are very happy as siblings !

As for her moving away from Berkeley, she may have in the several years which have past. From the loft in their house , in which Scott stayed during his time as guest, the Bay was clearly visible. I think she would have a lot of bad memories of that house! Her husband was always adverse to Scott and he nearly ruined their marriage as well.

Mysteri, don't ask me HOW I know - I read/heard it somewhere awhile back, but she did move...into SF I believe. No clue if she's still married or anything else. Sorry!

Scott Peterson should be a shame for killing his Pregnant wife just because he was cheating and didn't know how to tell his 9 months Pregnant wife thats the definition of stupidity and I don't think he should of done that Laci was a young woman I'm just speaking from seeng pictures of her when they were doing this case on the news she didn't deserve this and I just wonder what was going through his mind and this goes for the Steven Grant Murder Case too why did he dismember his wife like that he was a Jealous Man when she married him I mean she had a big Job and she was always away on trips and I guess he finally broke but that was wrong

I admire Anne, she has a lot of character. It must have been such a difficult decision for her to believe Scott killed Laci and Conner. We never want to believe someone in our own family could possibly be so cold, so dangerous, so calculating. Unlike Anne, I doubt Ma ands Pa Peterson will ever acknowledge the fact ISP is guilty.

i'm a parent of 3 small children. itwould be hard 4 me to admit i raised a murderer. they want to believe him. feel they are victims 2.

I could agree with what you're saying. The difference in this case is I believe from day one the Ps knew and just don't care. Jackie was trying to hook her son up with the baby sitter before Laci's body was even found. Jackie already knew Laci & "it" as she referred to Conner as, were long gone.

I'm a parent of 3 adult children. I, too, wouldn't want to admit I raised a murderer but I also raised my children to take responsibility for their actions. I told them countless times that telling the truth might get them punished but getting caught in a lie would be ten times worse. I didn't always like the choices they made, buy my love for them was unconditional. I can't imagine myself condoning a cold blooded murder. Jackie's advice to her son was "deny, deny, deny" and told her daughter "just say you don't remember".

Further proof to me that Jackie knew. jmo Of course her lies on the stand she wrongly thought would free her son.

Maybe from Jackie's childhood experiences she learned that telling the truth was not always a good thing. She never told Lee she had given up two children for adoption or that she considered giving up John, the third out of wedlock baby, also.

The story she concocted and told on the witness stand about the money was lame. Even lamer was her claiming that she told Scott to buy a car in her name because "all of his vehicles kept getting impounded by LE." Not true. And she knew it. Who knows what else she really "knew" at that point.

I thought the testimony she gave about Grandpa and his death ( in sentencing phase) was chilling, eerie, and bizarre. JMO

I cleaned my room yesterday and found Amber's book (was MIA for months). I found the page where ISP said "I didn't do it, but I know who did and I'll tell you later". Now THAT was chilling.
