I haven't really followed this in a long time. Thanks for posting this update Atok. I'm sure this is going to be a difficult and emotional day for Mark Lunsford.

From the article...

The father of murdered 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford is in court Tuesday to face John Evander Couey, the man convicted of killing his daughter.

Mark Lunsford is expected to testify later today at a hearing aimed at helping Florida Circuit Court Judge Ric Howard determine whether Couey is sentenced to death or to life in prison.

Dad to child killer: 'My daughter has heard me cry'

(CNN) -- Looking directly at the man who murdered his 9-year-old daughter, Mark Lunsford told John Evander Couey, "I hope you hear her cry as you try to sleep at night."

"You will never hurt another child again," Lunsford said in testimony Tuesday in a Florida court hearing where a judge will decide whether to give Couey the death penalty.

His eyes fixed on Couey, Lunsford continued, "For 29 months, my daughter has heard me cry and begged God to stop the pain in my heart."

Addressing Florida Circuit Court Judge Ric Howard, Lunsford pleaded for Couey to die for his crime. Then he turned back to the man who took his daughter. Watch Lunsford's emotional testimony »

"I hope you see the tears at night when she asked you [if she could] go home. You will never hurt another child again."

Lunsford spent much time talking about memories of Jesse Lunsford.

"I can remember when she was about 1 year old and would give me kisses and hugs and steal the raisins from my cereal," he said.

That is so sad. Mr Lunsford's heart must have broken all over again.

This brave, brave man has seen evil face to face and stared in down. He has lived every parent's worse nightmare with poise enough to put any Ms. America contestant to shame.

So many people have prayed & wept for Jessie and Mark and Jessie's dear grandmother. I cannot imagine their pain. DH and I thank God everyday that our girl is grown. Not that she is in any less danger. Just a little bigger now, with a better chance to defend herself.

May God Bless Mark and keep him until he and Jessie are reunited at last.

As for Couey, it's too bad they can't sit him down in Ol' Sparky and let him ride the lightening. :flamemad:

ALL IMO, as always.
