This Saturday marks the one year anniversary of Roxanne Paltauf's disappearance. In support of her and her loved ones please keep them in your thoughts and prayers this weekend. A year without your Roxy just breaks my heart. I have exchanged PM's with you and read your heartfelt post wishing there was something I could do to bring your Roxy home. I wished there was some way to go back to that night in July when Roxy vanished so that she could have safely made it home to you. A Mother fighting to find the answers to find her daughter with tons of road blocks in your way but you continue day after day hoping and praying something might lead to your precious Roxy. I see your post on other threads where a person goes missing and you post your prayers and thoughts to that family which shows your true character when you yourself are busy looking for your Roxy yet you still take the time to show compassion to others what a remarkable person you are. If you need anything that I can help you with please let me know I will be more than happy to help you in anyway that I can. So here we are a year without Roxy but never forgotten! Please know that you are not alone that we are here to stand by you and to support you in your quest to bringing Roxy home. I can hardly believe it has been a year. My heart cries with you, knowing, as a mother, the heartbreak you must be experiencing. You have constantly impressed me with your grace, strength and faith. Memo from APD:

I’m sending this information, hoping not to miss anyone who may have an interest in the quality of life in what we call the North Central Area Command. The North Austin Coalition of Neighborhoods has worked tirelessly to promote and hold this event. The officers in our command will be providing security, traffic control, information booths, and food. This is the first time in my 26 years that a coalition of neighborhoods has conducted an outreach such as this. Rundberg lane and the criminals that work and live there do have an impact on every neighborhood in this community. I ask, if you’re able, to come by and participate in this walk. Parking will be at Barrington Elementary and Hollywood Video. Please contact any of the DRs or me if you have any questions about the location, route, map or have any other questions.

A Night without Crime on Rundberg

Proposal: the North Austin Coalition of Neighborhoods (NACN), which represents over 70,000 residents in our command, has requested that we support them in what they are calling a “Night without Crime on Rundberg”.

Problem statement: This coalition of the 8 largest and most active associations in our command, have recognized that Rundberg is the gateway into our community. Unfortunately, it is a source of violent crime, prostitution, and the drug trade. While police are very active in this area, making numerous arrests and networking with the community, Rundberg continues to be a dangerous place, highlighted by a recent homicide in a local convenience store.

Action Plan: The coalition wants to have a walk down Rundberg in the area between IH 35 and Lamar. They are pledging walkers from all of the associations, several churches, schools, and local businesses to demonstrate that residents will no longer tolerate crime and the devastating effect it is having on their quality of life. They want to support and encourage the Police and Code Enforcement in their attempts to combat crime and urban decay in the community.

· The event will occur on 8-3-07, between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

· There is a vacant lot near North Creek and Rundberg. Residents want to use this as a staging area for walkers, information booths, displays, barbeque and beverages. Residents have secured permission from the property owner.

· Residents have secured commitments from local businesses for donations to include food, beverages, and funding.

· The current estimate of participants is from 150 to 300 people. The coalition requests that the NCAC provide traffic and crowd support.

This community has suffered from the stifling affect of crime on and around Rundberg. Their outcry and willingness to hold such an event may be the very thing this neighborhood needs restore hope and order for years to come. I am recommending that our command embrace this proposal and support the residents in their request for assistance.
