A report coming out of TMZ.com says that doctors and family are reporting that Daniel Benoit did not have Fragile X syndrome and was not smaller than average for his age. His teachers said he just graduated from kindergarten and was headed into 1st Grade in the Fall.
Amid reports that WWE wrestler Chris Benoit allegedly injected his son with hormones because of a health condition, Scott Ballard, District Attorney of Fayette County, Ga., just released this statement:
"There are additional reports that contradict the earlier information that suggested that Daniel Benoit may have suffered from Dwarf Syndrome or Fragile X Syndrome. Daniel's family denies that he suffered from either condition. As a result of the family's concerns, the Fayette County Sheriff's investigators and the District Attorney's Office have inquired into this matter. A source having access to certain of Daniel's medical reports reviewed those reports, and they do not mention any pre-existing mental or physical impairment. Reports from Daniel's educators likewise contradict the claims that Daniel was physically undersized. The educators report that Daniel graduated kindergarten and was prepared to enter the first grade on par with the other students."

After watching a few news reports about this case and this child's condition, I wonder if someone else has noticed that Chris Benoit and his wife show genetic traits that signal dwarfism.
They both appear small in height and if you look closely at their limbs, especially the arms as his wife hugs his neck in one clip, her arms are short and thick, commonly seen in little people. His arms are short and thick as well. Looking directly at an upclose photo of his face, he certainly appears to have physical traits seen in dwarfism.
Could Benoit have been using growth hormones on himself and his son to help them grow? As if he was in denial about a condition?
If his son did not have fragile X syndrome, perhaps his son was diagnosed with dwarfism?
I just feel both parents suffered from a metabolic disturbance of some sort and possibly dwarfism, as well as the child. I wonder if Benoit was ever diagnosed with anything such as this, or if perhaps he just always knew he was small, but because he was not SO small that it went undetected.
I think that thickness you see is from body building and is not attributed to dwarfism. IMO, JMO

After hearing the latest reports, it appears Daniel was a normal child, which leads me to wonder if the Fragile X Syndrome was floated to explain Daniel's needle marks/scratches from having been injected with steroids.
Was Chris Benoit obsessed with steroids, and wanting his son follow in his footsteps? Did he view his son as being too small, even though he wasn't? Perhaps Nancy was killed while trying to protect her son from being injected, or otherwise being forced to take steroids. Maybe Daniel suffered side effects from them?
Once Nancy died, Chris might have realized he wouldn't be able to care for Daniel, or he might have even blamed Nancy's death on Daniel.
CB might have been hopelessly hooked and addicted to steroids and suffering serious side effects from them, desperately wanted to end everyone's suffering and misery, including his own.
What a tragedy!

www.tmz.comI think I heard on the Nancy Grace Show that an attorney for the WWE is the one who told that story. I'm not sure who he told it to, or even why he would do such a thing.

The clinical signs I observed are common among people with specific forms of dwarfism, and there are many categories of this condition. Short, massive bones are completely different from muscles. It's more about the way the bones are formed, not having anything to do with wrestling or body building.
There are over 200 types of dwarfism.
Categories of Dwarfism:
Disproportionate - The individual has an average-sized torso with short arms and legs. It is usually caused by skeletal dysplasia or chondrodystrophy (the failure of cartilage to develop into bone).
Proportionate- In this form, the body parts are proportionate, but abnormally short. The primary cause is a growth hormone deficiency or dysfunction with the pituitary gland. These disorders are now often treatable.
Hypochondroplasia is the term for the tallest dwarfs.
Average adult height is 125-160 cm.
Extremities and fingers are short but the head is of normal size.
Many cases are overlooked because short stature can be mild.
I hope this helps you to better understand a bit more about this condition.

I understand what you're saying kathmandu but what does this have to do with the deaths of Chris, Daniel and Nancy? I'm interested in knowing what the toxicology reports have to say. IMO, sounds to me like Chris' system was fairly screwed up from using steriods - maybe he did meth on top of all of this and that only added to the "roid rage" ? Whose to say? Only the toxicology reports will tell the truth - but I don't think dwarfism add's to the mix here, IMO,JMO.

Yes and then did you read her next post after that? It says Daniel is a normal child.

Maybe HeyPaula can find a link to this story and post it here?

I can't link to the TV. Yesterday, it was reported that Daniel's teachers and family said Daniel WAS A NORMAL CHILD and did NOT have Fragile X Syndrome.
Here are some links anyway including WWE et al who make the same claim re FXS:

Kathmandu...
For the record I wasn't arguing with you and think your comment is totally uncalled for. I was simply asking you what dwarfism has to do with their deaths. Never mind. :patriot:

:rose: ChrisHi, Hey Paula! :seeya: Those are all good theories about what might have happened. It really is very, very sad. I was a long time fan of Chris Benoit. I am still in shock because I just cannot believe that he could do what he did. :( IMO

Hi NW! :seeya:
Yes, it is very sad indeed, and high time for action to be taken against doctors and/or other sources where these athletes are getting steroids and other drugs. Too many athletes have been violent with their spouses/SOs and I believe steroids are at the core.
I didn't follow Chris Benoit's career, but have heard nothing but praise from those who knew him to be a loving father to Daniel, and a kind person.
Steroids have bad side effects and are often habit forming. Once someone is using them, or is hooked on them, it's difficult to stop. CB likely became a different person from whom he truly was while suffering the effects of the drug. From the reports I've heard he had been taking massive doses. He might have been at the dangerous stage where he needed large quantities, couldn't stop taking them, and became a different person, and wanting to end the cycle saw no way out but to put everyone out of the misery caused by the drugs.

Hi, Hey Paula! :seeya: I think you're right about what might have happened. I also think that Vince McMahon should be kicked really hard in his rear-end (in public) for calling Chris a monster! He should have the decency to apologize to Chris's parents, and the rest of his family. I doubt that's going to happen though, based on Vince McMahon's huge ego. I wonder where WWE's attorney got the "idea" that Daniel had Fragile X Syndrome? I hope both families sue the "you know what" out of Vince McMahon. Maybe then, he'll stop talking out of his behind. The man worships money, so the loss of human lives means nothing to him. IMO :flamemad: :cuss:

Hi
Well said! They had the gall to show this man on E-TV South Africa in a match last Sunday and I sat there seething with anger. Then I realised that he-Chris- was seething too.The problem comes from between the ears. He was one very unhappy, violence-prone person IMO, who was quite capable of doing what he eventualy did. Watch his face and you'll see what I mean.
