Woman who killed ex-boyfriend dies in Bend

The woman who shot and killed her former boyfriend in Southeast Portland on Wednesday died early today at a Bend hospital.
Portland police confirmed that Jacqueline Kay Fielder, 30, died at 12:15 a.m. today.
She shot herself in the head after leading police on a high-speed chase that ended in Redmond, hours after she ambushed Michael Kellermann, 36, as he left for work early Wednesday morning.
An autopsy determined that Kellermann died of multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.
Police spokesman Brian Schmautz said homicide detectives learned that Fielder had concocted a story convincing everyone, including her former boyfriend, that she had committed suicide a couple weeks ago.
Based on information from witnesses, Kellermann had been grieving her death but was also relieved because of Fielder's increasing obsessive behavior and threats.
All indications are that Kellermann would have been shocked to find Fieldler alive when he saw her yesterday morning, according to a statement from Schmautz. He also said that the Police Bureau has had several encounters with Fielder for domestic violence.
Witnesses describe watching Fielder shoot the victim multiple times before running away.

Not that it excuses anyone or anything, this incident took place in a Portland neighborhood called Lents. Its unofficial name is "Felony Flats." As you might guess, it's a high-crime area.
