Jeeves, you better have something up your sleeve for nasty colds. My eyes feel like they're about to pop out and watering all the time and my chest feels like an elephant is sitting on it.

Pronto Jeeves! Find me a remedy.

I don't know whether it's the perfect remedy, but here's a hot toddy http://www.karendecoster.com/blog/archives/hot%20toddy.bmp

and http://sheknows.com/graphics/emoticons/tissue.gif

Feel better!;)

A little girl went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet.

She poured the change out on the floor and count ed it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes.

Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall's Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door.

She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention, but he was too busy at this moment. Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. That did it!

"And what do you want?" the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. I'm talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven't seen in ages," he said without waiting for a reply to his question.

"Well, I want to talk to you about my brother," Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. "He's really, really sick...and I want to buy a miracle."

"I beg your pardon?" said the pharmacist.

"His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?"

"We don't sell miracles here, little girl. I'm sorry but I can't help you," the pharmacist said, softening a little.

"Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn't enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs."

The pharmacist's brother was a well dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, "What kind of a miracle does your brother need?"

" I don't know," Tess replied with her eyes welling up.! I just know he's really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can't pay for it, so I want to use my money."

"How much do you have?" asked the man from Chicago

"One dollar and eleven cents," Tess answered barely audibly.

"And it's all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to."

"Well, what a coincidence," smiled the man. "A dollar and eleven cents---the exact price of a miracle for little brothers. "

He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said "Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let's see if I have the miracle you need."

That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed free of charge and it wasn't long until Andrew was home again and doing well.

Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place.

"That surgery," her Mom whispered. "was a real miracle. I wonder! how much it would have cost?"

Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost...one dollar and eleven cents....plus the faith of a little child.

In our lives, we never know how many miracles we will need.

A miracle is not the suspension of natural law, but the operation of a higher law. I know you'll keep the ball moving!

Here it goes. Throw it back to someone who means something to you!

A ball is a circle, no beginning, no end. It keeps us together like our Circle of Friends. But the treasure inside for you to see is the treasure of friendship you've granted to me.

Today I pass the friendship ball to you.

Pass it on to someone who is a friend to you.

MY OATH TO YOU...

When you are sad.....I will dry your tears.

When you are scared.....I will comfort your fears.

When you are worried.....I will give you hope.

When you are confused.....I will help you cope.

And when you are lost....And can't see the light, I shall be your beacon.....Shining ever so bright.

This is my oath.....I pledge till the end.

Why you may ask?.....Because you're my friend.

It depends on what time of the day you are asking me that question! Around 4:45, I feel dead to the world. Ask me at 5:00 on a Friday and I couldn't be more alive! LOL.

I am old WnC....and seeing something that fine about does me in. My blood pressure goes through the roof. My hot flashes get hot. My face gets all red and co-workers wonder if CPR is warranted!

Your profile doesn't show your age! But I think I am over the hill in comparison!

And looking at beautiful men, still makes me feel ALIVE! And when that no longer happens, bury me alive!

WE will all miss you, too, but have fun with the granddaughter - and don't throw up on the rides!! It is very unlady like.

Peanut picking? Really? Please don't think me stupid, but I guess when you don't live around that kind of stuff, you don't think about it. I don't pick my peanuts, I go to Safeway and buy a bag! I can't even envision this is my mind. Peanut picker - how cool is that?

Yes the peanuts are on our farm, we grow peanuts, corn,
rye, and cows. The peanuts are planted in late spring and
are harvested in the fall. They are planted from seed just
like you eat into the ground. The peanuts grow into a pretty
bushy plant that goes to sleep at night (believe me the leaves
curl up and rest), they have to be plowed, sprayed and treated
with tender loving care. Then about this time of year they get
mature and the peanut boilings begin LOL, then soon after you
enjoy the boiled peanuts it is time to get them to market!.
note here WE boil a FEW peanuts to eat NOT the entire field before
we harvest, just a note to my city friends lol
They are the very same peanuts you buy and that goes into
candy bars and peanut butter.
I wish you were here the whole farm smells like fresh peanuts
and sweaty farmers, lol. The first smell is good the second is awful!
But we do have some hunky farmers and helpers in this area

I live in a Town House Gated Community. All the landscaping is done by the HOA. But my patio has a 5 X 5' plot for planting. When I first bought it I cleaned out the entire plantings and discovered peanuts growing under the flowers and plants. Well, the plants were peanuts! Called the HOA and found out that the whole community had once been a peanut farm.

On a large scale, that is impressive! Didn't know you dug them up, let them dry out, and then let the machine "pick them". Do I have that right?
So Cool!

Zoey, GAC and Dallas your warm welcome means so much.
On the way here tonight I saw Frogie's post on the first page describing the elegant interior of this lounge. Luxury and Peanut farming in one place,
I love it!

Zoey, tks for the tip on how to post the smilies. My mistake was that I
dragged and dropped it. Glad I didn't miss the brief on how peanuts grow -
really interesting! Sad to hear that the peanut farms are going the way of
farmlands across America :(

Dallas, use pillows for comfort. There must be a swirl-pool in this swanky establishment, that will help too. I walk with my LT balanced on one hand, coffee in the other, mail under my arm -an accident waiting to happen.
You are a reminder to think about safety first.

I'm off to check out the recipes.

Sweetie I wish I was nearby, I would spoil you and take care of you AND your dad! When you are most miserable and hurting think about this South Georgia (feisty) Granny fluffing your pillows and making you goodies to munch on, and doing everything to make you comfortable and happy. The only problem would be keeping me from telling you funny stories and all these hunky sweaty farmers coming in and outta my house. But hey we would have a lot of fun getting you well OOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRR decide the attention was good enough to draw it out for a while LMFAO!!! anywho I luv ya.

The Luncheon today will be served in quaint Hat Boxes it consists of a cold
menu of Roasted Red Pepper Soup, orzo with grilled vegetables, pine nuts and feta cheese, roast beef on croissants with Boursin cheese, and chocolate cream cheese brownies
It is being served by one of our new chefs Scott.

The only thing I even recognize as something I may have eaten at one time is the roast beef and the brownies! What in the heck is all this other stuff?

Guess who I found? June Cleaver!!!!

Good evening everybody,

I'm sorry to have been gone all week. I really missed the board. My former hubby is going through an incredibly hard time right now. Yes, former, but you don't forget 17 yrs over night. Anyway, I began by asking the Lord to give me the strength to last the day, then by the hour. Now I'm reduced to asking for 15 minutes worth of strength at a time. So, please pray for him & I.

I may not be around much for the next week or so. We'll have to take it day by day.

I know you all thought I would be at the nearby adventure theme park
with the Grand and church youth today. My Granddaughter has been a
very sick girl this week so we had to call our end of the adventure off
for a weekend or so. She is feeling better and is on her way down to
see her Granny now. Her mom said it was easier to bring her than to
hear her cry for her Granny. The kid loves me what can I say?
But wooooooooowhoooooooooooooooooooo. I didn't post about her being
sick during the week because we were so worried and the Drs were
not sure what was wrong, high fever, elevated white blood count,
severe stomach pain, throwing up and all the goodies that
go with it. She is on a strong regiment of steroids and antibiotics
but she is MUCH better. She is my heart and I have been worried sick.

very sick girl this week so we had to call our end of the adventure off
for a weekend or so.

I'm so glad she is on the mend. When children get sick, it is so scarey. Don't know how strong their immune systems are to handle a really bad flu bug. How old is she?

OHHHHHHH NOOOOOO! Didn't mean for that to happen! Hope you liked the Texas Waffle! ;)

I am headed out the door, so you all are getting one combined post. Hope that is okay?

WarmNCozy - the Texas waffle was adorable!! You are such an awesome hostess.

Mishell - no matter what you do to your hair, you will still be one of the most awesome young ladies I have ever not met. I love chatting with you, you are a hoot.

Dallisvic - hope you are on the mend sweetie. Still worry about you.

GACountry - hope your little granddaughter is on the upside of being sick. I feel so bad for little ones when they are sick. They cry, and I cry right along with them. I am way too much of a softy!!

Canadian Bum - still having visions of lumberjacks running through my mind!!

Maybaby59 - you were missed. Hope you can post more often and let us know how you are doing.

Did I forget anyone today??? If I did, please accept my apologies. I have a date, with an extremely younger man (he is 11!!). We are going out to lunch. He loves me and it makes my day when he calls and asks if I would like to "do lunch" with him. Of course, he makes me pay, but what the hey, he's worth it!!

Luv to all of you. Catch you later tonight. Enjoy the day.

Sprcket, glad you had a good time. That is what Saturdays are for.

I had such a good day. I don't know when the last time was that I enjoyed myself as much as I did today. My "date" and I went to lunch. He is ADHD and I tell you what, when you get him started talking, he goes on and on. I am a very quiet person (really, I am!!, really!), and he doesn't even notice that I don't say much! I then took him to the library so he could get some books. As we were driving past the movie house, he is reading off the names of the movies and you could hear the excitement in his voice when he read off Transformers, so - I had him call his folks to see if he could go to the movie. When we were standing in line - he asked me - are you sure you wouldn't rather go to a chick flick? Is that not the cutest thing you have ever heard!

GACountry is the resident chef here at the lounge. I'm good for a hamburger, or something light here and there, but GAC comes up with the most elegant appetizers, beautiful buffets, elegant settings and the finest china and silver on a daily basis! "Me Oh My Crawfish Pie File Gumbo" or some such lyrics. Those little buggers are like our crawfish LOL.
[http://www.tabasco.com/images/content/crawfshpie.jpg

Cajun & Creole : Crawfish Pie

* 1 (10-ounce) package frozen puff pastry shells, thawed
* 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
* 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
* 1 cup chopped green pepper
* 1 cup chopped celery
* 3 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
* 1 teaspoon Original TABASCO® brand Pepper Sauce
* 2 pounds peeled crawfish tails, or 2 pounds medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
* Juice of 1/2 lemon
* 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
* 1/2 cup chopped green onions (green only)

Preheat oven to 400°F. On a lightly floured surface, roll each puff pastry shell into a 7-inch round. Place on a cookie sheet and bake 15 minutes or until shells are golden; cool slightly and remove centers.

Meanwhile, melt butter in a Dutch oven over medium heat; add onion, green pepper, celery, and garlic and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Add salt and TABASCO® Sauce; reduce heat to medium-low and cook, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add crawfish, lemon juice, and parsley and cook 10 minutes longer. Just before serving, stir in green onions.

To serve, spoon crawfish into cooked patty shells, allowing some to spill over sides.

Makes 6 servings.

Much better, thanks for asking. The Dr's are still not sure what happened so she will be in for more test and blood work this week. He mom had to bring her down yesterday so as she said "Granny can take care of me, I need to feel better" LOL. She spent the night with me and we got lots of loving and petting in she left after lunch. It is so hard not to see her EVERY day when she is feeling bad but I am adjusting Maybe. She did not have any fever last night but after lunch it began to peak again.

She spent the night with me and we got lots of loving and petting in she left after lunch. It is so hard not to see her EVERY day when she is feeling bad but I am adjusting Maybe. She did not have any fever last night but after lunch it began to peak again.
It is soooo very good to have you back.

I'm so sorry to hear her temperature went back up again! Was hoping the meds would have stopped the fever! I'm glad she had you to cuddle and hold her as she wished to be with you. Keep us posted on her progress! Love ya, Eileen

We just had a birthday party for my mom and my nieces just left. I have 5 all under the age of 6. However, I don't know what to do, my sister is manic and she hasnt been taking her meds, and she is getting violent, I cant stand it anymore, I'm physically and emotionally exhausted. Its just so isheartening ya know? We might have her committed this week. I think its best, I'm so sad, yet anxious to to get her there. Does that mean I'm a bad person?:(

"Me Oh My Crawfish Pie File Gumbo" or some such lyrics. Those little buggers are like our crawfish LOL.

Cajun & Creole : Crawfish Pie

* 1 (10-ounce) package frozen puff pastry shells, thawed
* 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
* 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
* 1 cup chopped green pepper
* 1 cup chopped celery
* 3 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
* 1 teaspoon Original TABASCOŽ brand Pepper Sauce
* 2 pounds peeled crawfish tails, or 2 pounds medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
* Juice of 1/2 lemon

Add salt and TABASCOŽ Sauce; reduce heat to medium-low and cook, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add crawfish, lemon juice, and parsley and cook 10 minutes longer. Just before serving, stir in green onions.

To serve, spoon crawfish into cooked patty shells, allowing some to spill over sides.

Makes 6 servings.

There is no way in h--- I am going to be eating this anytime soon. Why would anyone eat a crawfish? They are nasty and mean and slimy and little and ewwwwwww. :eek: Sorry, I made myself sick thinking about them!!

Trying to catch up on the posts, but wanted you to know, I lit a real candle for your granddaughter at church today. I light a real one every week for Tara and Maddy and added your granddaughter and Dallasvic this morning to my candles. The power of prayer......it's what it is all about.
