Charmine you have our thoughts, meditation, and prayers. When one of us hurts we all share, not the physical pain, but in the support and loving. It is so amazing how a group can tap out messages on a keyboard and become so bonded, but I have seen it happen so it is so. Just remember when the pain is bad you got 'sistas' here for you!

Hey Mishell. I hope it does end up being TMJ as well because, with the trigeminal neuralgia I was on a drug called Tegretol which raises cholesterol and has quite a few side effects. But, having said that the Tegretol did take the edge off of the pain and I was having fewer attacks. I have studied up on the treatment for TMJ and at this stage I am willing to give anything a crack lol. Sleeping is the hardest thing for me because as soon as I lay down my face aches and the back of my neck hurts. The trouble with my back is completely unrelated and was the result of an accident. (I broke my arm as well but didn't find out that I had until 13 years later!). Yeah, that's right, I'm either really tough or really stupid haha! It doesn't stop me from riding my horse because that is really the only time that I forget my troubles. Some say to ride a horse is to borrow freedom. I really do not know where I would be without my horse Jordan, he is my best mate. Could you tell me if you have heard about a treatment for TMJ called upper cervical chiropractic care? Is the guard the only treatment that you receive for your condition and if so, is it sufficient, or do you think that you could benefit with further/additional treatment? Sorry to be so nosy but it would be good to talk with someone who knows what it's like. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and thoughts. Take care. :D
Not nosy at all I was the same way, and I am sure you are desperate to find a cure or at least something that helps. Its very tough to live with.
I actually have heard of upper cervical chiropractic care. Its not a very common procedure, I have heard that because its so close to the brain stem it can cause body imbalance and restriction to body movements of brain messages. So someone has to really know what they are doing. Thats all I really know about it.

However, my TMJ SUCKS! Every night I take an anti-inflammatory such as vioxx, i have taken celebrex but that wasn't doing the trick. Than I put my night guard in and fall asleep, sometimes I take a sleeping pill so that I fall asleep and don't clench while I sleep. If I wake up during the night which I do occasionally, I get a warm compress and put it on my jaw than I do these jaw exercises that my doctor gave me to do. Its a pain in the ass but you get used to it, kind of becomes a way of life. Its actually been months since I have any pain, and they say it eventually goes away. I noticed it starts when I've had a bad day and I'm stressed, I also notice I clench in my car when in traffic. The good thing is I can start to realize and point out when its coming on and I take a vioxx, and I usually stop the pain before it gets really bad. The MAIN thing though that I think helps the best is meditation and yoga, which someone that suffered from tmj recommended. It helps the muscles to relax, because I really started getting bad tension headaches and migraines from the TMJ. I really hope this helps you Charmaine, I can feel your jaw pain! HUGS!! And don't hesitate to ask anymore questions, I'd love to help any way I can! :rose:

Hey Zoey! Yes...I am having some trouble with my head and my jaw. I get massive facial pain on one side of my face which makes me feel like my teeth are rotting and my eye is going to burst. I also get an 'electric' feeling and tightening of my skin around my left temple. In the morning upon waking my jaw cracks very loudly! At first my GP said he thought it was trigeminal neuralgia but the neurologist disagreed and said he thought it was a jaw condition known as TMJ. So while they try to sort it out (at a snail's pace if you don't mind), I am living with it every day. I am going to make an appointment with a Naturopath in Adelaide as there are none where I live. Also, I am waiting to be informed about an assessment on my spine. I have several discs that are hitting my spinal cord and they want to 'shave' them.
I don't mind telling you that this operation scares me! But when my back 'goes' it puts me in bed for a few days and I can't have that!..What with kids and horses and the dog and the rabbit and the bird and the fish!!! So, better to get it done while I am still young. Thanks for letting me tell you all about my troubles! I am trying to keep doing the things that I usually do otherwise I might go crazy!! Take care.
I hope you find some releif from this pain soon Charmaine!!!:rose:

I certainly won't forget where I was, what I was doing and believing for a short period of time it was a movie from a book I had just read. I called my parents out of bed and told them that WWIII had just started and to turn on the tv.

Words will never adequately express my feelings of that day.

My first thought - get a hold of my son, who was in the reserves, and see if he had been called out. I was so scared for everyone.

This might be crazy to ask, and please don't think I am crazy, but did anyone else have a hard time today? What I mean is, I woke up feeling...blue....and it continued all day long. I signed onto this board, and saw GACountry's avatar and post, and just started crying. I remember feeling the same last year and the year before as well. Like after shock maybe? I didn't have any friends or relatives in New York, but it affected me nonetheless.

On that day my first instinct was to hug my babies, wondering what how I could improve their lives so they wouldn't have to deal with war.

9/11 doesn't affect us as much where I live. It was sad, it was horrid. The updates were at some stage too much to live with. However there is so much more horror in the world that should be looked at. Children starving because they don't have enough food, girls and mothers being raped by "soldiers". Civilians being forced to live in refugee camps and having to walk miles for a bit of water.

Yes 3,000 people dying in a terrorist attack is sad, but it's hardly a drop in the bucket when looking at all the wars elsewhere and people dying for no reason at all.

Jeeves, put the money for the banquet, the spa and the extra comfy bed towards a good use. Feed some people who need it please.

So Beautiful and sums up a lot of my feeling. We had seen bad things on our home front BUT this was the first time we had felt 'under siege' on our home lands,
I hope we came away from this bonded more and remembering anew what freedom is and how we are human and we need one another. As sad as that day is I pray we never forget it. Chocoholic I thank you for bringing it back into prospertive for me. You know maybe a good way to observe this day is to help feed our needy. Just as long as we do something to help others maybe it will give us a sense of Peace.

Zoey,
Not only do I wake up feeling very depressed on 9/11 and it affects me all day and gets more stronger as the day goes on, more greatly so because of the memorials, the speeches and the memories, but I find myself feeling very anxious and sad as well, on 9/10. I think due to the fact that 9/11 is the following day.
It does not sound weird, and I think millions of people are affected greatly on the anniversary of one of the biggest attacks on us soil.

We all were greatly changed that day. :rose:

Oh my, I was ready to come in and demand that Jeeves provide me with a cup of coffee and I've run into some very deep and introspective thoughts.

This makes me think of the Holiday Season. It's my favorite time of the year and I'm very a lucky woman to never have to struggle financially like many do and I see these families who are struggling to scrape together enough money to allow their children even one gift beneath the tree and it breaks my heart.

Each year I sponsor a family and these children create wish lists of things they would love to get. We're supposed to pick one item off of the list and purchase it but I can never stop there and end up always buying almost the entire list. It fills me wth joy and heartbreak at the same time because these children ask for just the simplest of things like a barbie doll to play with, and then I think of my co-workers whose rich and snotty little kids demand (not ask!) for the most expensive things (and recieve them all) year after year without stopping for a moment to be grateful.

Through work we always sponsor a family for a Christmas hamper. We try to sponsor a family, usually single moms with a lot of young children. We get the gifts the children wish for and more than enough food for Christmas dinner and at least a month of staples. We always get something special for the parent as well. To me that's what the Christmas season is about.

Thank you Mishell. I hear what you say about the problem with sleeping. I'm pretty sure that I do not grind my teeth during the night. My partner does not get off to sleep as easily as me and he is certain that I don't. I usually take something with paracetamol, codeine and a calmative. My GP actually gave me valium but, man, I don't even want to go there! Plus, they offer absolutely no pain relief as they only serve to relax you. They have taken me off the Tegretol which was for the trigeminal neuralgia but some days I wish I could go back on them. I am becoming increasingly annoyed because the Doctors disagree on what is wrong with me but I think it is actually both TMJ and trigeminal neuralgia. I have had migraines so severe that I have spent the entire day throwing up and could not even stand to put my head on a pillow or talk or even move my eyes to look at people. It's days like that I wish my Mum was closer and not a couple of hours away. She used to suffer from shocking migraines when she was my age so she knows exactly what it's like. I am lucky that I have a fantastic family to help me out on the bad days. My eldest daughter is nearly eighteen, I have another daughter who has just turned fourteen and my youngest daughter is five. What the worst thing is, I think, is how my GP thinks that stress is the only cause of my problems. No way...I said to him, my house is paid for, I don't have to work and I have a great relationship with my partner and kids...What the?? I have had a couple of major accidents in the past and I would bet that it's more a physical problem than an emotional one. Anyways, thanks for letting me whinge once again and I truly appreciate your help. Take care. :seeya:

No way...I said to him, my house is paid for, I don't have to work and I have a great relationship with my partner and kids...What the?? I have had a couple of major accidents in the past and I would bet that it's more a physical problem than an emotional one. Anyways, thanks for letting me whinge once again and I truly appreciate your help. Take care. :seeya:

Well, hang in there, girl! I sure hope you feel better.

One more day and it's Friday and I figure just to get us over that last little hump, here is a joke, hope the mods don't mind and that nobody takes offense.

THE PSYCHIATRIST AND THE PROCTOLOGIST

Two doctors opened an office in a small town and put up a sign

reading:

"Dr Smith and Dr. Jones, "Hysterias and Posteriors."

The town council was not happy with the sign, so the doctors

changed it to read, "Schizoids and Hemorrhoids."

This was not acceptable either, so in an effort to satisfy the

council, they changed the sign to "Catatonics and High Colonics."

No go.

Next, they tried "Manic Depressives and Anal Retentives."

Thumbs down again.

Then came "Minds and Behinds."

Still no good.

Another attempt resulted in "Lost Souls and Butt Holes."

Unacceptable again.

So they tried "Analysis and Anal Cysts."

No way.

"Nuts and Butts?"

No way.

"Freaks and Cheeks?"

Still no go.

"Loons and Moons?"

Forget it.

Almost at their wit's end, the doctors finally came up with:

"Dr. Smith and Dr. Jones, Odds and Ends."

Everyone loved it.

I am in greater L.A., actually Ventura County. I have been studying Criminal Justice 12 years and only now working on my BS in CJ, at Kaplan. I am from here in Southern California, born in Encino, now in Oxnard.

My favorite reading is FBI true crime. I read Hazelwood and Michaud’s, The Evil That Men Do. I need to finish The Anatomy of Motive, and I am looking forward to reading Anybody You Want Me to Be. I will be taking starting next week at Kaplan online: CJ343-02 Comparative Justice Systems, and CJ370-02 Crime Scene Investigation II. I finished many great classes.

I was born in the year of the dog in Chinese astrology; and our mantra is justice. I am honest and loyal. I have high moral standards. I am considered lucky, always finding lucky horseshoes. I am happy when things go well, and fret when things do not. Aztec-Mayan astrology, I was born an eagle inner and eagle outer. I call myself a double eagle. We are lazy, but thinkers and love to plan things out.

The eagle is an escapist & finds unique perspectives, probably essential to detective work. Also able to change plans so the detective’s moves aren’t anticipated.

yes him, He was nice, but he got to clingy, and weird. He wanted to hang out all the time and I like my space, I had to make up false plans just so I could have some me time. And I only dated hime a few weeks! Also he asked me on, I think it was like Aug 30, to go to a christening with him for SEPT 23!!! HELLO!? No I don't want to meet your family, NO I don't want to go to your cousins christening a month away, NO I DON'T want to hang out with you everyday, AND if I'm sick I DON'T WANT YOU TO COME OVER! Grow some balls, be a man, and have some DAMN DIGNITY!! UGH! What a turn off. :punch:

LOL sorry, I'm just so annoyed by him, so I tell him its just not working out and he starts asking me what he can do to fix it and change. BEGGING ME! How disgusting. I think he was to focused on someone making him happy than making himself happy. Along with being a few apples short of a picnic basket. I wish you knew who the crazys were right from the getgo instead of being faked out in the beginning until their true colors shine. Oh well men are like buses, they come and go every 15 mins. :patriot:

The perfect man is gentle
Never cruel or mean
He has a beautiful smile
And keeps his face so clean.
The perfect man likes children
And will raise them by your side.
He will be a good father
As well as a good husband to his bride
The perfect man loves cooking
Cleaning and vacuuming too.
He'll do anything in his power
To show his love to you.
The perfect man is sweet,
Writing poetry from your name.
He's a best friend to your mother
And kisses away your pain.

He has never made you cry
Or hurt you in any way.
Oh, "to hell with this stupid poem,"
"Cause the perfect man is gay!"

:rose: Happy to be here,

Paula Renee

ps actually instead of csi II, I am taking photography & fingerprinting

Hi there! Your post and what you say about eagles reminds me of a great line from a song written by a band called Live.
It goes...Like an eagle cuts through the air, no time for fear, faith in his wings takes him there.
It is one of my favourite lines and always inspires and gives me strength. WELCOME!!!

Kate and Chocoholic you are just beautiful people through and through. What a wonderful way to spread goodwill!:rose:

If we judged one another by what the others on boards
think of us it would be a sorry world. I am lower than owl poop on the board
I came here for, but I know what I am worth to those that matter.
And the missing person and her family is what matters to me,
I know they support me to heck with the others.
But it does sting and hurt that is why we have here, thanks to Froggy

OH and remember I zap all calories before Jeevers serves those goodies.

You know Jayelles, I really am not sure why I stay on that board. I keep telling myself it is not worth it, but I keep going back. It has affected my health and not in a good way at all.

I see you are not posting on the JB Ramsey forum anymore. How did you do it? How did you stop??

The post which tipped me over the edge wasn't the worst I've read but it was a totally unnecessary and utterly b*tchy remark. I suddenly thought "What am I doing here? This is crazy" In real life I avoid negative energy like the plague and here I was - absorbing it day after day.

So I simply switched off my computer. It was the last week of my summer break and it wasn't raining for a change. I made a quick decision to do something really positive with my last week and so I comlpetely re-organised my household with efficiency and green issues in mind. Switching off the computer was the first step. I established a recycling system for household rubbish, made a drying green in my back garden (to save on tumble drying energy). I also got a little worm farm going. I haven't used my tumble dryer for three weeks now.

I also did some spring cleaning, sat down and worked out all the family schedules for the next three months and put them all into a wall planner. I went for walks and cycles, organised my greenhouse and even read a book. There is visible evidence of everything that I'd done and that feels really good and I have to say that the smell of fresh air on the laundry (bed linen especially) has to be one of life's finest small pleasures.

My eating and computer habits are similar - I'll do it if it's there but I don't crave it or seek it out if it's not so I've started switching the computer off completely if I'm not using it. Not only does this remove the temptation to "look", but it also saves electricity, it's better for the environment and it protects my computer from intrusion - all positives.

Apart from anything, I have a killer teaching timetable this year and I need to very organised if I'm going to stay afloat on the home front.

My philosophy in life is that if you feel overwhelmed by the big picture (i.e. life as a whole), then take a step back and concentrate on the little things. IMO, life's small pleasures are much better (and healthier) than drugs at keeping us sane. If you can't sleep, read a gentle book or watch a gentle film. Even better if it's one you've read/seen before because your brain won't have to work as hard if you already know the plot! The worst thing you could do IMO is more of the very stuff that's making you feel bad in the first place.

Here are some sites:

http://www.pyzam.com/

http://bestsmileys.com/welcome/

http://photobucket.com/

Find an image you like copy to the address (remove the imgs) hit enter, the image should come up by itself. Bookmark the url. Then copy it put at the beginning and at the end

If I see something cute, copy it.

Go to the Quote and copy the image from the poster.

Have fun! I don't know where GAC gets all her food pics.
You can also google, When I post food pics I google brunch, or sushi, and than I click on images at the top menu bar in the google search. Half the time all I have to do is copy and paste the picture instead of having to use photobucket to develop an html or img code.

YOU just keep in mind why you are on here;its not for them or even yourself. It is your passion for the cases and the victims. People like her are just here for themselves.Ignore her post Zoey. Thats easy to do really:D :rose:

Thanks Dallas - you are always so kind. I enjoy posting with you and all my friends here at the Lounge. Such a nice place to come kick off the shoes and enjoy whatever Jeeves is serving up.

btw - thank goodness we are on another page. I was wearing out the scroll button on my mouse going up and down looking at WarmNCozy's hunk. I finally got all the drool to dry up!

Good morning.
I just saw Warm n Cozy's picture of Jeeves. Is there such thing as too beautiful?
Is The Lounge here the place for insomniacs? Is there coffee?
I remember coming here a few months ago and liked all the talk of food. Meals planned and the menus. I could actually smell it, by the descriptions and the great pictures.
It was comforting to me.

I got my Ann Rule mouse pad today! It appears it was sent by Leslie Rule. The envelope had personal drawings on it. There was a cat and a hilarious reference to my address.
I had the opportunity to see Ann speak in Portland, Or some weeks ago. She is lovely. I think the world of her.

p.s. I hope i can post this here. I am finding my way around and trying not to do the wrong thing in the thread way.

Al Pacino, LOL!!!!!!!
