Hey CB, I am off to Adelaide for the weekend...(it was my b'day yesterday). So it's a reading with my psychic (I am in need of one it has been a while!), then shopping with Mum and then out for a Saturday night on the town with friends. Then I guess it's a sleep in on Sunday with bacon and eggs for brekky, and last but not least... the 2 1/2 hour drive home lol  . Hope you have a grand weekend. :seeya:

Happy Birthday Charmaine, I read here often but never post and all of you are quite entertaining. This is a good place to relax and enjoy just reading.

I wanted to post and tell Charmaine a Happy Birthday because so many we post about no long have earthly birthdays to celebrate...but they do have those heavely ones. To treasure our life among the living I'd like to see more of these birthdays announced. Who don't love a birthday party and the special attention for that one precious day.

Hope you have a blast Charmaine, Love to you all IJM

Hey all,
Thank you everyone for the B'day wishes. CB, I am only three years younger than your little brother! The big four zero is coming up fast! The shopping was great, and I got spoilt by Mum as usual. Saturday night was spent dancing the night away with my bestie and we didn't get back to my Mums house till 5 in the morning.:o It feels good to be back home though and I am looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. I bet my horse will be grumpy with me as he always is when I go away for a couple of days. He will be fine after some kisses and cuddles I am sure.:D It has made my day to come on the boards and see the lovely messages from you guys. Thank you so much. Take care.:seeya:

Good morning ya'll,

Happy Belated Birthday, Charmaine. Cheer up, 40 is the new 25. I say this because my 41 is coming up really fast.

I have been surfing some news sites. My heart is breaking this morning for abused children. If no one minds, I will just sit quietly in the corner. If you see Jeeves, could I please have a nice hot cup of tea? My MIL used to say tea could cure all that ails you.

I'll just rest here a moment before heading back to the boards.

Carry on.

Good morning ya'll, Am home for a few hours this morning, so I'll be hanging around. Got to see the kids yesterday, which was very nice. They don't live all that far, but it's a heck of a ride. Through desert, through a mountain pass, next more desert before we reach them. My DIL has a baby-bump! Baby is due right around my birthday. Now, that would be a great present!! DH & I got a webcam yesterday for us & one for the kids. Isn't technology wonderful.

Restless Leg Syndrome, you are advised that if you develope these side effects, call your Dr. I think the side effects of medications can be much worse than the initial problem. Increased urge for sex, and to gamble  Sex maybe, but the "urge to gamble". You may also fall asleep while doing daily tasks such as driving  ...and lets not forget "dizzy when you stand" I think I will pass on the meds ..............:chicken:

I feel I owe you my friends an explanation for my absence. Maybe now I can type without crying but don't bet on it. My children have been married for 7 years, we have a beautiful 5 year old Granddaughter all was happy here or so I thought. My children are divorcing and my Grand be will the victim of this decision. She is a very bright child and her heart is truly broken, she does not understand her parents living in different houses over 100 miles apart. I have wiped tears and screamed and cried myself but it is totally out of our hands. I do not know all the outcome of what is to happen over the next few weeks and months I will be here as much as I can because I just really like you guys. I am probably in need of your support now because I am lost and so very hurt.
Please don't take this as a cry for pity because it is not that it's just a Granny with a broken heart telling her friends why she has been away.

Gacountry, I can only say how sorry I am to hear this. I have come to care very much for you since meeting you here at CL. Divorce isn't easy...not even under the best possible circumstances. I hope your children can be mature enough to put the needs of their little one first. I know she must be heartbroken. I will pray for strength and healing for all of your family. Remember that you have friends here who care and you can call on us anytime you need to. May God bless you and your family.http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/1434/pc8ls2rnr1.gif

How many other Scorpios here ? We are known to be, emotional, passionate, intuitive, determined and magnetic. (that explains the dust) On the down side, we are jealous, resentful, compulsive, and lets not forget secretive. Yikes thats pretty accurate..........:chicken:

Fellow Scorpio here, Nov. 20. I am not emotional (kicking feet and jumping up & down)!! LOL. I will however admit that I'm discovering just how passionate a 40 yr old can be with her new beau. :D Oops, guess I just blew secretive.

I had a simply awful flight back to the valley tonight. When I came into the lounge here, Jeeves had my pina colado ready. Once I got to reading the posts, I was laughing in minutes. Ya'll are some great folks. Thanks for providing this place of refuge.

off to the boards!

I am sorry to hear this and I know how much your family means to you. Think of it as a chance to grow together in a different way with the door open. Many people get divorced and still stay together for the sake of the children in a different way.Sometime a divorce can be a blessing...I know that is hard to hear but the children are always first. If a parent is not happy or there is too much contention the children pick up this and it confuses them more.

Well adjusted adults will raise well adjusted children and your grand deserves an opportunity to be part of that. In the interim I am sending you big hugs and prayers too.

gacountry, darlin' I'm so sorry to hear about your kids. Divorce is hard. I'm separated, but still sharing the apartment. I pray that the little one knows that she is very loved by all the parties involved. It sounds corny, but love will find a way. :rose: :rose: :rose:

Aw..... so sorry to hear this. You may not be open to this right now, but children are more resilient than we give them credit for. Hopefully the parents will work it out so that they at least remain friends for the sake of your granddaughter, maybe not right now but in time as long as they don't try to use their daughter as a pawn. You can actually be someone who can help facilitate this process. You definitely have support here and feel free to cry on our shoulders. I know it's not easy. (((HUGS))) :rose:

Afternoon ya'll,

I find myself in need of your prayers. Well, not for me, but for my best girlfriend. "Jo" had a bout of uterine cancer 2yrs ago. She went thru chemo with flying colors, never even lost her hair. Now, she is experiencing some of the same symptoms she had before she got her diagnosis. Jo has been my very best friend since we were 14yrs old. We are now separated by almost 2,300 miles. I cannot explain how worried I am, I just don't have the words. She is a good woman. Divorced and raising her 3 kids all on her own. I will get to see her in 5 wks. In the meantime, her doctors appt. is Monday.

Sorry, babbleing.

Please join me in praying for my dear, dear friend. It doesn't matter if you pray to Buddah, Vishnu, Muhammed, Jesus or any other diety of your choosing. Please just pray that the cancer has not returned and if it has, that the doctors do their very best in healing her. For my atheist/agnostic friends, would it be offensive to ask you to send good & positive thoughts? I don't want to offend anyone.

Thank you all so very much.

Dear GA. You don't owe anybody an explanation. This is a very stressful time for you and your family and you must take all the time you feel you need to be wherever you are.

I'm sorry that your grandchild had to be part of this very difficult decision her parents made. As harsh as it sounds though smaller children tend to deal with these things better than older kids. Knowing how caring you are and how bright she is she will no doubt be just fine. I have found that there are some excellent children's books that deal with divorce and other matters that may be difficult to explain to little ones.

Know you're in my prayers. http://bestsmileys.com/flowers/16.gif http://bestsmileys.com/flowers/1.gif

Have emailed Brother Rudye, who is one of the best men I've ever had the honor of knowing. BR has an email prayer circle that covers just about the whole world. When I got sick and did the coma thing 4 yrs ago, prayer is what pulled me & my family through. I wouldn't be here talking to ya'll today had it not been for my granny's prayer circles and the prayers of a fine bunch of people. My cousin Marie drove from East TN to the desert where I live to pray over my hospital bed.

So, big ol' hugs and thanks to you all. :rose: :rose: :rose:

The lounge is a magical place! I first stumbled upon it in desperation after taking quite a beating on my forum of choice, it was a place that made me smile and see hope. Then as I got to know you all I felt so at home here, my life was so filled with good fun things I just used the lounge as a relaxation from my forum. In these past weeks with my heart ripped out and bleeding I see you guys as the true friends you are. We have something very special here it is sorta like a Ya Ya Sisterhood where we are here to watch each others back and laugh as we do it, whatever it is it is good. I admire each of you for the strong people you are and yes my brothers we will even allow a select number of you into the CL YaYa's.
postnote: Remember I am going through a lot and they make drugs for this type thing so if I sound off the wall, I might be BUT I still mean every word of it LOL.

I too stumbled on this place purely by accident. I was checking out other places to go when the forum I was on got to be too stressful. I needed a place to talk about anything besides what was happening on my forum of choice. I have "met" some wonderful people. People that have made me feel good, made me laugh (especially you Mischell) and made me cry (Dallis, GAC, Beachgirl). You are some awesome people and I am so glad we have a place to go so we can chat. :)

Good morning ya'll, :seeya:

Thank you GACo. You're a peach & a keeper too. Like you, I'm from the South, only I've been stranded in the desert for 20+yrs. LOL

Athena, Zoey, Mishell & everybody else, thank you.

Today, I have most pleasant news. I have a new beau (for you poor Yankees, that's Southern for boyfriend). He's a very sweet, smart & funny guy, about 8 yrs older than me. Not married, no kids. We've been yakking on the puter for a year now & have decided to meet. When I go home to Florida next month, he will drive 4 hours just to see me. Do ya'll know how exciting it is to think that a man is so attracted to me that he's willing to drive 1/2 a day away just for a cup of coffee? It has been a very long time since I've felt this way--like a 16 yr old school girl. Jo & I are even giggling over the phone. Scared, excited, exhillerated, I'm just a big ol' bundle of nerves.

I was married for 20 yrs, separated now. Not sure how to act with a beau. You younger ones got any suggestions?

It was incredible! Flyleaf, Evanescence, Korn, Atreyu, and Hell Yeah best lineup you could ask for! It took us 3 hours to get there because of construction with a bridge, it normally would take 49 mins! But it was so worth it. My Chemical Romance is awesome! I have yet to see them. Your gonna have such a great time! My mom never took me to cool concerts like that! BOO-HOO! lolololololol  On Aug. 10 I'm going to see Velvet Revolver and Alice In Chains!!!!!!!!

Happy Sunday,
beachgirl40

Beachgirl, just be yourself...but a little primping beforehand can't do any harm! I hope you have a great time! http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/9193/lo1romanticdinnerhl1vy7.gif

And I wanted to let you know that I'm praying for your friend, Jo, and sending many positive thoughts her way...and yours. http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/2108/af2flowerd012km1.gif

Hi. I am new here but was reading on this thread and wanted to say to Beachgirl40 that I sent a prayer AND positive vibes to your friend Jo. Please keep us posted on her doctor's visit.

And about meeting the fella, just have fun, and remember why you liked him in the first place when you 'talked' to him online. It should go great!

Oh! And I'm from the south, too!

I tell ya what. Whenever GA serves lobster, you can have mine. I cannot even get that stuff past my lips, I just start to gag. I can only eat halibut and salmon. Don't ask me why. I think it is because when you go into fancy restaurants, they have you pick out your lobster. The same lobsters you talk to while waiting for your table. A seafood restaurant had a sign in the window that read,
"Big Lobster Tales, $5 each."

Amazed at the great value, a man stopped in and asked the waitress, "Five dollars each for lobster tails -- is that correct?"

"Yes," she said. "It's our special just for today."

"Well," he said, "they must be little lobster tails."

"No," she replied, "it's the really big lobster."

"Big red lobster tails, $5 each?" he said, amazed. "They must be old lobster tails!"

"No, they're definitely today's."

"Today's big red lobster tails -- $5 each?" he repeated, astounded.

"Yes," she insisted.

"Well, here's my five dollars," he said. "I'll take one."

She took the money and led him to a table where she invited him to sit down. She then sat down next to him, put her hand
on his shoulder, leaned over close to him, and said, "Once upon a time there was a really big, red lobster..."

Calling All My Angels ~

I need some advisement. Yesterday at work I believe that one of my male superiors made a sexual advancement toward me and I'm not certain if I should do something about it or keep it to myself.

Here's what occurred and please tell me if I am reading too much into this;

We were in the board room preparing for a meeting and I was wearing one of my business skirts (knee length) and when he took the seat next to me he placed his hand on the area of my leg just above the knee and told me that he was certain that I must be making some man quite happy.

I feel very akward now. Any suggestions?

Did anyone else witness what he did or hear what he said? If not, it is your word against his, IMO. You really do have three options though:
1. Do nothing
2. Go to the person and advise them that what they did made you uncomfortable and the next time you will take it to your supervisor.
3. Go to your supervisor so that it is on record.

Just my two cents. Hope this helped a little.

ok Kate this is a tough one to be honest. Let me first share with you an experience I had. A male supervisor who was extremly well like by his fellow employees made some of the most blatant acts of sexual harrasment, he made a recording of him breathing heavy, saying take off all your clothes, he followed me in the womans room AND he grabbed me and pulled me towards him like a hug but wouldn't let go. Until I kneed him. NOW for the good part, I told my boss, she said they would "watch him" over the weekend, and I told my mom what they said and she was so angry she made me go to the police, I was 17 he was 27. I went to the police and they were so adament about talking to him. THEY WERE PISSED! which i was shocked because I didn't think cops cared about that stuff. So anyway I'm working and in walks THREE cops, take him into the office, told them if he admitted to it he wouldn't get in that much trouble blah blah blah. So he gets fired because the cops came, now when I tell you I walked into work each day I got glared at, the girls threw stuff at me, I got tripped, pushed, body slammed, jeered at you name it. And the sad thing is he admitted to being guilty of his actions and i was hated for it. I walked out and never went back. So the point I'm trying to make to you is, it could cost you your job depending on his status or connections. Or nothing could happen at all, and you'll have to work with him. My advice to you which could be totally wrong, but stay quiet unless someone else witnessed it. OR of course if he does it again. He by no means should be touching you or making comments like that by any standards. And it angers me when people get away with doing that stuff but you could also be blamed by coworkers and get harrassed by them which you don't deserve. so try to figure out all the ins and outs before saying a word. sorry for the long story

Miss Kate,

You are not alone. I would venture to say that at least 50% of women have been harrassed in the workplace. That's IMO, girls, I have no hard stats, but a little experience.

Document this incident. Write down every tiny detail you can remember. You might not need documentation should you decide not to go forward. But you should write it all out while it's fresh in your mind. Next, approach the scumbag who hit on you and tell him his conduct & speech are unwelcome and ask him not to do it again. Try to do this in a non-threatening, non-accusatory manner. (easier said than done). Then document what you have said to him.

Can you subtely (sp?) ask the other ppl in the office if this is common behavior? Then, document that too.

See the pattern, document everything. Tell the perp his behavior/speech is unwelcome. These are baby steps, but they will help you feel impowered. If you do decide to go forward to your EEO officer, you are now prepared to do so.

Do be aware of his reputation, length of employment, and popularity as well as your own. Office politics can be very nasty. Do you want to keep the job? Take that into consideration too.

A lil' about my experience. One of the supervisors with 27 yrs in our gov't agency has a bad habit of staring me in the boobs. He is extremely popular, very well connected and is a family man with 5 kids. So, instead of going public, I decided to handle it myself. The next time the turkey stared at my breasts, I grabbed his hand and asked him what color my eyes were? He immediately looked me in the eyes and turned 7 shades of red. In a strong, firm voice, I told him I didn't appreciate him looking at my chest and would not tolerate it. Problem solved. Embarassed the heck out of him. He hasn't done it since. This may not be the approach you want to take. I am very self-confident and can be ballsy when I need to. If you're not comfortable with this approach, I suggest you speak to his supervisor and take along your documentation.

Good luck.

For you, dear :rose: :rose: :rose:

It was incredible! Flyleaf, Evanescence, Korn, Atreyu, and Hell Yeah best lineup you could ask for! It took us 3 hours to get there because of construction with a bridge, it normally would take 49 mins! But it was so worth it. My Chemical Romance is awesome! I have yet to see them. Your gonna have such a great time! My mom never took me to cool concerts like that! BOO-HOO! lolololololol  On Aug. 10 I'm going to see Velvet Revolver and Alice In Chains!!!!!!!! I CANT WAIT!!!!! :)

Hey Mishell! My daughter just read ur message and is currently freaking out! lol! I mean Atreyu and Korn?! I just absolutely love My Chem and can't get enough of em haha. We got standing tickets so you can bet we will be there super early to get up the front. We don't listen to 'girly' music in this house and it was my 13 year old daughter that got me hooked on My Chem. She has truly created a monster lol. December can't come soon enough! It will be good 'cause here in December it's summer so it's nice and warm. It's all I think about really. Let me know how you enjoy Velvet Revolver and Alice in Chains k. Have a good one. Hey,
My oldest daughter is going to 'The taste of chaos' in Adelaide in October.
There will be some good bands including Rise Against, The Used and some others that I just can't remember right now lol. Sometimes I think you just have to travel to see em! I know what you are saying though, My Chem were here for 'The big day out' and we couldn't go. We thought 'oh well thats it then we will never see them'. When we heard whispers that they were coming back we were so happy. So when I heard that the tickets were on sale for Dec 3rd I was on the phone in a flash! Woohoo! :D Got them in the post the other day and you can be assured that I am guarding them with my life haha. Anyway, have a good one. :seeya:

I would definitely document the incident. The best way to have handled this would have been as he was touching you to grab his hand arm and push it away; that might have been enough. However, since you didn't do that at the time you might just want to approach him and tell him that you did not appreciate his touching you in the board room and you expect that it will never happen again and if it does he will be reported. Unfortunately this happens way too often and can be very intimidating especially when coming from a superior employee. Here is a site that basically tells you what you can do if sexually harassed. Whatever you do or don't do; just make sure if it happens again you take tell him straight forward that it will not be tolerated. JMO :rose:

Hey,
My oldest daughter is going to 'The taste of chaos' in Adelaide in October.
:seeya:
I have gone to some great Big Day outs in my time but unfortunately not in the last couple of years. Have fun!!!!!

Thanks Zoey and everyone else!!!! I was actually thinking it was an x rated thing, and my mind was stumped to try to work out the letters to an activity!!! But bowel movement makes a whole lot of sense. I must have thought you were all more wicked than you really are!!!!

With the sexual harassement, I would be road kill. I would be too embarrest to say anything at the time and then feel that I had missed the window of opportunity to respond. I think the best response would be a very confident, assertive but `joking/ light hearted` comment like `Do you have a problem keeping your hands to yourself?` or `I would NOT go there if I were you`or ask him `....and you are interested in my personal life because....??????` and look him straight in the eye. Of course I couldnt pull this off, but Im sure some women I know could. Maybe with practice you could muster the courage?

Anyway good luck to all of us !

Good evening ya'll, :seeya:

I don't know about ya'll, but this secretarial goddess has had quite enough for one week, thanks very much.

We had to condemn 12 properties this week. Each property condemned makes an 18" high stack of paperwork. The xerox guy was in today, said I had done 20K copies this week. YIKES!

Today alone, I managed to jam up every copier in our compound; 2 of 3 printers in my office gave up the ghost; I dumped black toner powder all over my white pants; someone ate my breakfast for me; my turkey sandwich for lunch had spoiled; and finally my boss went on vacation for 16 days. Calgon, take me away!

If anyone needs me, I'll be on the beach, sipping a pina colada.

Happy Friday!!

I make it stuffed like, I have a bottom layer of dough than I put spinach sauteed in garlic with feta cheese and sometimes mushrooms, and than mozzerella and sauce, than put the top layer on bake, than take out when you have like 2 mins left, brush butter on the top and sprinkle mozzerella cheese and garlic powder on the top, put back in for final two mins and ooohhhh la laaa yummyyyy!

Had to explain that in the move a book was lost I would be glad to pay for another, the director was saying how good a patron I was and to forget it~~I couldn't, I made a donation for much more than the books worth.

GAC, Zoey,

I'm sending positive thoughts your way(s) and will pray for your peace of mind. Sometimes a good cry is just what you need to clear the cobwebs. Do something nice for yourself, like paint your nails or eat a pound of chocolates. (I'd go for the chocolates.)

All is good here. Daughter & her friend are burning the letters off my credit card at the mall with back to school shopping. And we thought it was expensive when they were babys. HA!

28 days & a wake-up, my toes will be in the Atlantic Ocean. Not that I'm counting the days/hours/minutes. LOL

Hello my friend! With all this drama in my life of late I have missed YOU. Today is a better day we will have my Granddaughter over the weekend so see Friday is not that far away! Now to all that helped with my Spinach Pizza I combined everyones idea and added a bit of my own~~~they wiped the pan clean!!! Either 'them' sisters were hungry or they liked it one. I also did a fresh Orange Sherbet that was awesome!! I have to give Paula Deen credit for it her recipe and all.
I have promised myself today will be good~~~~~but~~~~~but~~~but

ITA Sharon. Zoey, nevermind small-minded people. You cannot fight a battle of wits against an unarmed opponent.

Chocolate cures just about any ailment when taken in large quantities.

That chocolate fountain sure looks yummy! Chocolate is my idea of a cure all! But, after I eat it, I get very giddy and hyper - like a person who has had 'just enough' alcohol. My sisters and I have a blast with chocolate when we have our annual Sisters Sleepover..

Hello all you chocoholics!

I hope this is the right thread to stop in, introduce myself and ask a quick question.

I just registered here yesterday and noticed that my computer runs realllllly slow on this site and at CTV. I'm using Safari on a Mac PowerBook.

It seems so many of us have troubles and my heart goes out to each of you. Always remember this is the place to come to for a shot of love and best wishes.
To you who are sick I Pray for your Health
To you who are heavy of heart I Pray for your Troubles to float away
To you who are OK I Pray it stays that way.
I really love you guys and it hurts me when you hurt.
