I'm still having computer problems and then we had a death in the family over the weekend. (My fav Uncle) That was sad and I'm really going to miss him

last night there was a creature sniffing around the strawberry bed I thought he was going to EAT ME! It may have been a cat; but it was much larger I am thinking DEER as he snorted several times. I was shaking in my boots and I dropped my book. I was trying to hide under the largest berry and then SNAP he ate it! Plus I was flooded yesterday and blown over. At least my owner set me back up on my feet.

Tis terrifying living in a garden! I'm putting on some sun block today and bug spray mebbe it will keep the deer away from me! Next thing you know a black bear will try to eat me. ack dont think such things!!
I just scared myself. AS you can see I'm still recovering. (shakes leaves)

Hi Maybaby :seeya: I am not computer savy :punch: so when my son moved away for school I was lost. I am self taught so it's really hit n miss. I did however break down and have decided to buy a new computer. The Dell I have now is 10 yrs old :shrug: I think It's time LOL. I'm looking at the Dell XPS 420 with a 22 inch HD display, a little pricy at 1,400 plus tax. The other model is Inspiron 530 Mini Tower for 899. A call to my son will decide. :D I doubt a new computer will help cause I only have the problems here. :shrug: Anyhew...it's all good! When things start running faster I'll be back!:)

Hi CB! :seeya: I'm not computer savvy either...I have a Gateway desktop and I did everything I could think of to do to speed it up...cleaned, deleted, defragmented...finally upgraded my memory and it's super fast now...

Then I surprised hubby with a Dell Laptop...he hates it and I love it so that worked out real well! :tongue:

Hello everyone! I'm back and I'm doing just great! My new teeth are beautiful and I love them already. I'm not having ANY problems. The second epidural went great also and I'm virtually pain-free. Now this babysitting for the 4-mo old, 2-yr old, and nearly six-year old - that's another story ALL together. Oh, they are great and fun but I'm (we're) too pooped to pop! I just finished baking some peanut butter cookies and it's almost midnight! LOL Tomorrow we will take them bike-riding and on a picnic.

Thanks for all of your caring and your sweet notes and wishes.

grneyes, I'm so saddened by the loss of your pet. They really do become a part of the family and their passing is unbearable. :rose:

My problem is that pages will slowly load.. but then the page freezes...I sit for ages and can't click on a thing. This happens only at Crimelibrary..entire board not just for pages with pics. No other message boards or internet sites. Hope my new computer helps, I miss the posters.

Ok, I'm having the sort of the same problem...pages here at CL and CL only are loading really slow...and I visit other places that have many more graphics than here...I get so tired of waiting that I go to another site and then come back...But no problems with pages freezing...And this IS a new computer...purchased in April...:shrug:

hang in there Canadian Bum My computer was down for 36 hours. All I had to do was take the battery in and out and turn the computer off and on. Is that wierd or what? CL works faster for me if I shut down everything else when I am on it. Do not know if that will help. :shrug:

The loading problems may actually be a SERVER problem.

Server too "full" of the site-needs larger server or more memory.

Actually, it also takes me FOREVER for the Sycamore pages to load, too.

It may also have a lot to do with the abundance of ads and graphics-but NOT on OUR end.

All those graphics we load up go to the server-and the BIG .GIF BANNERS.

They take up a lot of storage space on the hard drive, and when there are a lot of people ALL ACCESSING RANDOM PAGES-the memory of the server can't keep up-so there's a BIG LAG in loading time.

I'll bet you dollars to donuts that if we were ALL on the same page of the same thread at the same time, it would load FAST, because the server would only be getting the request to load ONE PAGE.

On another forum I belong to-a reptile forum-we were having the same type of problem, until the site owner either got a bigger server, replaced the hard-drive with a bigger drive, or added more memory.

I'm NOT SURE which...

Too much traffic + too many page requests + too many graphics = SLOW LOADING.

Open up ALL your computer programs AT ONCE and RUN THEM.

See how much longer it takes for ANY of them to finish running.

And it could also be the site server's processor...

If my theory IS correct, there's really nothing WE can do about it, but it helps to know we're not collectively GOING NUTS!!! :biggrin:

It's all in the hands of whomever runs the server the boards are on...:(

And if it IS correct, I don't have ANY idea why it helps to clear your internet history. I have to do it EVERY TIME I GO TO ANOTHER PAGE!!! :flamemad:

I returned from london and was in a sad state as my sisters heart surgery was cancelled to the day i had to return so in all i was in anguish when i travelled back home.
She has had a hell of a time and so did we all, i am sorry i didnt write about it on here till now as i cut myself off from the forums for a while in order to get over all the stress and worries...
i wrote about it on the other side (some of you know where)

I left the strawberry bed and slipped into the tomato bed because there was just more cover there. And, less bugs! I had a snail in my eye when I woke up this morning but other than That I've survived The Garden!! :D

When the Zukes Cukes and Fruit starts to roll in it will all be worth it!!

May and Shell and FD sending you yummy summer peas and peppers too if ya want them! And of course a nice cold beer! No bears or creatures just the usual suspects, skunks possum and deer and little preying mantis all over the place. See you soon, what happened to spanky?

Sara, I have a lot of trouble falling asleep and staying asleep...I tend to sleep 3 to 4 hours at a time, even with meds...every now and then I manage 6 or 7 hours straight...and I think I've always been a night person...worked the better part of my career on 3rd shift (by choice) and I loved it!

And I'm still having trouble posting...I just installed Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista and upgraded to Firefox 3 and now I'm having even more trouble...I've had to switch over to IE to post...I can't give out any rep points on Firefox now for some reason...One good thing is that IE seems to load the pages faster...:)

Just keep that snow out of Georgia...Once when I was coming home from work it had just started snowing...I was on the north side of Atlanta and lived on the south side...about 25 miles from work to home...took me 5 1/2 hours to get home...I was sitting on I-75 most of that time! I bet it didn't snow over 2 or 3 inches...You let the weatherman say snow down here and there's a run on milk and bread at the grocery store...still haven't figured that out...:seeya:

I know what that's like. We live about 20 minutes East of Lake Huron and we get lots of lake effect snows. Gotta shovel from Oct - April and sometimes May. *blech*

oh no grneyes you sure do. I grew up on the east side and when I moved west I thought people were exaggerating......NOTTTTTTTT. It is maddening to look at the weather channel and those clouds with show just do not move for days. this winter was bad. the snow blower broke.
